The Season with Peter Schrager is a production

0:09

of the NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio.

0:23

What's Up, everybody, Greetings from Detroit,

0:26

Michigan. That we are in a hotel room

0:28

right now in downtown Detroit,

0:31

about five minutes away from the NFL Draft

0:33

Theater. And it is approximately

0:35

three pm Eastern on Wednesday,

0:38

which is just over twenty four hours

0:40

away from the NFL Draft's

0:42

first round. And I put this tweet

0:45

out yesterday that

0:47

I think there's gonna be a lot of trades. I doubled

0:49

down today with a tweet

0:51

that I said, I referenced it on Pat McAfee.

0:54

I think we might get ten trades in the first

0:56

round. And that's because everybody

0:58

I'm talking with is like, Oh, this team's trading up,

1:00

that team's trading back, this team's looking to trade up, this team's

1:03

trading to trade back. I figured

1:05

this podcast episode, if

1:07

you're listening, you just want content, content content.

1:09

I'm not on television at the moment,

1:11

so let's do it over podcasts and just empty

1:14

the notebook. It's going to be rather

1:16

quick compared to the hour

1:18

long interviews we've had with coaches and coordinators

1:21

in the past, but this is our latest

1:23

thinking as of around three o'clock

1:25

on Wednesday. And if you're listening to this at the gym

1:28

on Wednesday night, and I know that's optimistic assuming

1:30

people go to the gym. I always

1:32

say the gym, but I really mean as

1:34

you're sitting at home playing video games

1:37

with this on, or driving in a car in traffic.

1:40

Here's some things to note, and I'll go

1:42

through it team by team, and then I

1:45

think maybe big picture stuff. The first point I

1:47

would make is that I

1:49

do believe there is going to be close

1:51

to a dozen trades made in the first

1:53

round that would be record breaking.

1:56

I think that this is one of those years where

1:59

there are some quarterbacks

2:02

that teams might want to trade up and down for, but it's not even

2:04

about the quarterbacks. It's about the wide receivers,

2:07

the tackles, and then the few defensive players.

2:09

So I actually think

2:11

it might go somewhat chalk one,

2:14

two, three, four, And we'll

2:16

get into my mock draft in part

2:18

two on this, but as I

2:20

have it right now, I've got Caleb going one to

2:22

the Bears the Commanders.

2:25

I'll open the door. It did get Harry for a while

2:27

there over the weekend, I heard all sorts of stuff

2:29

that he might not want to go

2:31

there, and you know, and then

2:33

it's if you're Washington, and if he even had

2:36

the inclination of I might not want to go there

2:38

three days ago, Like do you say we'll screw

2:41

you, like this isn't free, We'll

2:43

take Drake Mayo, We'll be fine, or do you just

2:45

say, okay, once we get him in the building, it'll

2:47

be all good, because there is no

2:50

doubt. And I'm telling you this is real, that Jaden Daniels

2:52

and Antonio Pierce have a great relationship and

2:55

that whole you know, connection to the Raiders

2:57

is real. But the Raiders don't have them or the

2:59

ability to go up from thirteen to two. So earlier

3:02

this week, Jayden Daniels

3:05

publicist, and I think that stuff Denise White

3:07

came out and she's been an NFL

3:09

publicist for many stars. She's dealt

3:11

in crisis communication. Like I've heard her name

3:13

and I don't know her personally, but I've seen her stuff for years.

3:15

And she wrote on Twitter, Jaden Daniels

3:18

is excited to be part of the NFL and whatever he is,

3:20

wherever he is drafted, he will be happy to be

3:22

part of that organization. So I'm done, like that's it.

3:24

But then if you're Washington, you're like,

3:27

dude, like, we're about to put all of our faith

3:29

in you. New coach, new owner,

3:32

new GM, new offensive coordinator,

3:35

new team president, new Bob

3:38

Myers is involved. And then we just got

3:40

you know, these other guys involved. We have a whole new

3:42

front offense, Lance new Mark, Adam Peters always

3:45

got do we want to start things

3:47

off with a quarterback who says, you

3:49

know, I will be happy with whatever team I go

3:51

to, as opposed to I want to be a commander.

3:53

I see Terry McLaurin and John Dotson, and I

3:55

want to be a commander. I think by

3:57

the time the draft comes, that will all be all

4:00

settled. And I got him going to to commanders.

4:02

Three is the Patriots. I'm gonna give you an analogy for the Patriots,

4:04

because there's been a lot of rumors

4:08

about the Patriots looking to trade back, and

4:10

I even said it on McAfee that they could trade back

4:13

and then still get McCarthy if they trade

4:15

back a little, if they fall in love with McCarthy. Here's

4:18

how I see it, though. Here's

4:21

an analogy I would make and Aaron,

4:23

my producer, you're on the mic right, your

4:25

mic is working, let's say testing. Let's get

4:27

you in there.

4:27

Yep, yep, I'm here. I'm ready for this beautiful analogy.

4:30

Make sure here's it all

4:32

right. There's

4:35

a house on the block that forever just

4:37

has a for sale sign in front

4:39

of it, and it's a beautiful house, and every

4:41

time you drive by, you're like, Wow, that house

4:43

is for sale, and that house is for sale, and they do have

4:46

open houses and people come and looking through. It

4:48

just never gets sold and

4:51

the asking price might be too high, or

4:53

the owners don't actually want to sell it. They just

4:55

like to hear offers and be told what

4:58

this exists in America. That's

5:00

the Patriots right now. I don't

5:02

think they're looking to sell the third pick. I think Drake

5:04

may is fine, is going

5:06

to be the future of this team. He's twenty one years old,

5:09

he's six foot four, he's a great kid. It

5:11

comes from an out sports family. Like you're

5:14

the Patriots. You're not looking at me in

5:16

the top five anytime soon. You're

5:18

not going to have an opportunity to get these quarterbacks.

5:20

You know, as often as you

5:22

you know, as often as they come, take the quarterback.

5:25

I don't care what the offer is from Minnesota. Take

5:27

the quarterback, because say Minnesota offers you

5:30

the eleven, the twenty three next year's

5:32

for so what if you don't have a quarterback, so what

5:35

so what? So at eleven you might get JJ

5:37

McCarthy and and that, okay,

5:40

fine. I think it's Drake May. And

5:43

whether or not Jonathan Kraft is heavily involved

5:45

or not, I think that the

5:47

football people, and Jonathan

5:49

Craft probably included, are like, get the quarterback. Let's

5:51

start filling the building because

5:53

it was bleak at times last year in those home games

5:55

for the Patriots, and with Jacoby

5:58

Brissett making eight to ten million dollars,

6:00

that's a serviceable veteran guy.

6:03

Bring in a rookie Drake May,

6:06

third or all to the Patriots. Cardinals.

6:09

Chalk would have Marvin Harrison. I

6:12

think Marvin Harrison makes a lot of sense. There's your

6:14

Larry Fitzgerald for the next two decades

6:17

if you can get them in there. And it's fine. Where

6:19

things get interesting and where my notes really begin,

6:22

as we'll do a mock draft on part two on this thing.

6:24

But the things get interesting at five to me

6:26

because there's multiple things happening here. One,

6:30

the Chargers will not be taking a quarterback,

6:32

and there's one quarterback left with the

6:35

grade that's worthy of being in the spot, and

6:37

there are probably three or four teams that might be

6:40

interested. So then it becomes a bit of a feeding frenzy. Who's

6:42

gonna be able to go up and get them? Who wants them?

6:44

And if the Chargers are at five, do they

6:47

trade him to the highest bidder? Do they end

6:49

up just taking their guy? Because you could

6:51

end up missing out on a top

6:54

tackler or top wide receiver if you move too far

6:56

down in the draft here. So the Chargers at

6:58

five become really interesting. The other

7:00

little rinkle I've heard, and you'll

7:03

start hearing this more, i'm sure over the next few

7:05

hours, is that as

7:07

great as Joe alt is, who

7:10

is a high school legend at of Minnesota,

7:12

a Notre Dame legend, a Notre Dame, and.

7:14

Was the.

7:16

Consensus top left tackle in this draft,

7:19

Jc Latham, three hundred and

7:21

forty pound maller out

7:24

of Alabama might fit

7:27

what Jim Harbaugh is trying to build. And they already

7:29

have Forshawn Slater as a left tackle, so that

7:32

might be the first wildcard. JC Latham

7:35

being taken to the Chargers before

7:38

Joe Alt and Joe Walt still being on the board.

7:40

I've heard that from a few teams that if you

7:43

look at what Greg Roman's offenses

7:45

have been, if you look at what Harbaugh has done, and if you think

7:47

about the Alabama connection that

7:50

Ozzie Knewsome had and now

7:52

Joe Hortiz, who spent twenty eight years with the Baltimore

7:55

Ravens now comes over and the

7:57

Chargers, there's an Alabama connection there. Could

7:59

JC Latham go before Joe Alt?

8:02

That's something to watch. Okay, more

8:04

stuff there. Would

8:07

they ever trade with the

8:09

Raiders or the Broncos. Probably

8:11

not. I don't think they're going to trade with those teams

8:14

and let them get a quarterback so that they can play

8:16

them twice a year and have to deal

8:18

with knowing that they gave their division rivals

8:20

the opportunity to have JJ McCarthy, which

8:22

really limits the quarterback

8:24

teams for McCarthy to the five spot

8:28

to the Vikings, and does that give leverage to the Vikings?

8:30

Think about the chess game here now, if they're not going

8:32

to trade with the Raiders or

8:34

the Broncos. And there have been trades within the division

8:37

in the NFL Draft before, like Jamison

8:39

Williams was traded from the Vikings

8:42

to the Lions in a draft, and I believe the

8:45

Cowboys and Eagles did one and the deal

8:47

that got Devonte Smith

8:49

like that and Mark Micha Parsons. I think that

8:51

was on Draft Day and somehow those two

8:53

teams did come to terms to a trade. But

8:57

I don't know when you're talking about a quarterback, like

8:59

would the Chargers on a silver platter

9:02

give the Broncos and Raiders a chance to get

9:04

JJ McCarthy. I don't see

9:06

it. Just competitively. I don't see Jim

9:09

Harbaugh doing Sean Payton and the Broncos any

9:11

favors and handing JJ

9:13

McCarthy over. So in that case, it

9:15

really becomes just the Vikings.

9:18

Now, if you're the Vikings, you have

9:20

the eleven, the twenty three, you

9:22

don't have a second, you have a third, and

9:25

then next year I

9:27

don't think you have a whole

9:29

bounty of picks that you can offer. So

9:32

if you're the Vikings, is it

9:34

eleven and twenty three up to five for JJ?

9:36

McCarthy. Well, it sounds like that's the

9:39

bare minimum of what the Chargers would

9:41

want. But if you're in Minnesota and

9:43

you already know that they're probably not going

9:45

to trade with the Broncos and the Raiders, it's a

9:48

game of chicken. It's like, who

9:50

am I betting against? Here? Who am I dealing

9:53

against? And can I keep that twenty

9:55

three and just trade the eleven and something

9:57

else and move up six spots.

10:00

I haven't heard anyone talking about them keeping

10:02

twenty three. That's keeping twenty three.

10:05

They keep eleven, they

10:07

trade eleven, they trade a future bunch of picks,

10:09

and they keep twenty three, so that they have the

10:12

five and the twenty three. They get an offensive,

10:15

they get their quarterback, and then they also that's all. This

10:17

is why the five spots so interesting,

10:20

which leads to six. I put

10:22

in my first mock draft that JJ

10:24

McCarthy, who's gonna go to the Giants?

10:27

They're gonna trade up to get them. I've cooled

10:29

down a little bit on that, but I can tell you they met with him again,

10:31

Like they've had more meetings with JJ McCarthy,

10:33

and he's still very much a part of it. At

10:37

the end of the day. And I made this point

10:41

to Art Stapleton, who does the Giants

10:43

All in podcast. They spent

10:45

their entire Easter weekend in ann Arbor, and I

10:47

say they I am in the brass. So if

10:50

they're going to vote all that time, and they're

10:52

gonna do it on the night before Easter

10:54

and then Easter Sunday and be away from their families,

10:56

and they're all out there like, that's

10:58

not for us, smoke screen so that we're doing mock

11:01

drafts and we have them take it, that's not it's

11:03

because they're actually interested. And JJ McCarthy

11:05

did media today and

11:08

they asked him what team he's met the most with and

11:10

his answer was a New York Giant. So I think

11:13

that's interesting. Giants also

11:15

interesting. Alt might be on the

11:17

board, Neighbors might

11:19

be on the board. But I've got

11:21

a little wildcard to watch for the Giants,

11:24

and that's Roma Dunsa out of Washington.

11:28

I'll say this a dounsay.

11:31

Everyone who's met him is like, he's got the best presence

11:33

of any of these guys. Walks in he's

11:36

character. He's

11:38

all world human. And if you're the

11:41

Giants and you've been through

11:43

Kadarius Tony as a first

11:45

round pick, and you've been through

11:48

some other questionable ones over the years, and

11:50

yet and things ended with Odell the way they did,

11:52

and O'Dell's actually a fine human being. Is something

11:54

about Odell's character just didn't

11:57

work. And you hear that o'donsay is

11:59

all world and is the most you

12:01

know, selfless servant, you

12:03

know polite? Oh does that not

12:06

sort of? I give you a doonsay vibes

12:08

over neighbors who doesn't have that? Right up

12:10

now, I'm not going to trash neighbors because he might be the best

12:12

wide receiver in this draft, and for twenty

12:14

nine of thirty two teams, he might be the first guy

12:16

on the board. Everyone's got

12:18

neighbors. Going to the Giants, I would just say,

12:21

keep an eye on the offensive tackle Joe Alt,

12:24

remember Joe Shane big Notre Dame

12:26

fan growing up, there's Notre Dame tie there. But

12:29

also keep an eye

12:31

on Roma Dunza for the Giants. He

12:33

screams mister giant to me from everything

12:35

I hear, and I think that one's interesting.

12:45

Tennessee. We've heard everything on Tennessee

12:47

from Oh, they might

12:50

they might like all as their number one

12:52

guy. They might like lath them as their number one guy.

12:54

And then I've heard a lot of neighbors stuff. Now, look, they did

12:56

bring in Calvin Ridley, but if you give a

12:58

wide receiver room of DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin

13:00

Ridley, and Martin Malik neighbors, watch out

13:03

seven Tennessee. They can't go wrong,

13:05

or they can trade back, and that might be the spot where

13:08

a team like Minnesota or Denver

13:10

or Vegas trades up. Remember, I

13:13

don't think the Chargers trade with Denver,

13:15

and I don't think the Chargers trade with

13:17

the Raiders. I just don't see it happening.

13:19

So if the Giants aren't

13:22

a team that's going to trade back there, the

13:24

next team up is Tennessee. It's a little easier

13:27

to trade within the conference than it would be the division,

13:29

so that might be a trade partner to watch.

13:31

Eight Atlanta. Everything I hear is

13:34

pass rusher Dallas Turner out of Alabama

13:37

or lat too if his medical checks

13:39

out. And then late in the game, I've heard a little Byron

13:42

Murphy smoke. I would be surprised

13:44

if it's not a defensive player.

13:46

At eight, nine, ten,

13:48

eleven, twelve, thirteen, that's

13:51

where I get all kind of wonky trade

13:53

stuff going. And I think we're going to go through

13:55

this in part two

13:57

of this podcast. If you're going to click on part two, which

13:59

is my actual mock draft, I'm gonna give you a bunch of names

14:01

and where they all are kind of jarbled up here. This

14:04

is where you've got a Doonsay could

14:06

go, Neighbors could go, Bowers

14:09

could go, Latham could go,

14:11

tell a yac Fu Wanga could go, McCarthy

14:14

could go, Penns could go. You've

14:16

got this glob of offensive tackle,

14:18

wide receiver and quarterbacks,

14:21

and I think any of the teams

14:23

could be coming up and down, and I'd keep an eye on guys,

14:26

like, is this where Indianapolis

14:28

jumps up because other teams you know, loaded

14:31

up during freegency and they didn't. Is

14:33

this where a Jacksonville trades up because

14:35

they lost out on Calvin Ridley? Like, does Jacksonville

14:37

move up and say we're gonna get brock Bauers or

14:39

Molak Neighbors the

14:42

Broncos so they have to move up a couple spots. If McCarthy

14:44

starts slipping and they want McCarthy, do the

14:46

Broncos take bow Nicks. If that's the case

14:48

that they trade back a little bit, Tennessee, what

14:51

are they gonna do? And is the eleven

14:53

team Minnesota? Are they gonna be moving up

14:55

down packaging not packaging. I

14:57

think that's where it gets really interesting. So tomorrow night

15:00

that'll be about nine picks in. I

15:02

would say around the Bears

15:04

at nine is where

15:06

it really gets spicy. And then I just

15:08

think it's an avalanche of trades of teams going up

15:10

and down trying to find what they

15:13

can get. Some notes on guys,

15:16

all right, I

15:19

don't have a bo Knicks team at the moment.

15:24

Broncos would be that team. I just don't

15:26

know if they would take them at twelve.

15:28

Other than that, I don't know any other boon Knicks

15:30

teams. I just think quarterback need and

15:32

what is in this draft? So

15:36

bo Knicks could be the

15:38

twelfth overall pick to the Denver Broncos.

15:41

Bo Nicks could also be the Will Levis

15:43

where he doesn't get selected in the first round and we're

15:46

just like, how the hell did boon Knicks not get drafted. I don't

15:48

know where to do with bon Nicks.

15:51

Raiders and Seahawks are the two Michael

15:53

Pennix teams. I keep hearing about Raiders

15:56

apparently had really good workouts

15:58

with them. Thirteenth overall pick seems like the

16:00

right spot. He's the leader. Da da Da da da Seattle.

16:04

At sixteen Seattle their

16:07

offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was

16:09

Pennix's offensive coordinator at the University

16:11

of Washington. That was Mike McDonald,

16:14

the new hire that was as higher as the OC. If

16:17

anybody knows Pennox, it's him. If he falls all the

16:19

way to sixteen, that's a cool fit. Like local

16:22

guy stays in Seattle, gets

16:24

to go play for the Seahawks, and you know, Gino's

16:26

got one more year. He left to think on the contract. But

16:29

they did trade picks or

16:31

a pick to get Sam Howell, which makes

16:33

it seem odd that they would take a quarterback after

16:35

trading draft capital to get

16:37

Sam Howell. So Pennix, Raiders

16:40

and Seahawks bon Nicks. I've got broncos.

16:43

I'll say this now on this podcast. It might make news.

16:45

I don't think Rams are a Bonnicks team as much

16:47

as everyone is tying them together. Unless Sneed

16:51

played with bo Nix's father,

16:53

Patrick Nicks, and they were at Auburn

16:55

together and that's a cool connection. And McVeigh

16:58

obviously has been searching for a Stafford

17:00

successor, and whether it be Stetson

17:02

Bennett last year or Jimmy Garoppolo

17:04

this year, or whatever else they've got,

17:07

I just don't think they're a first round quarterback

17:09

team. And I certainly don't think they're gonna move up

17:11

to get Bo Nicks. All right,

17:13

Aaron, some more things. We haven't even talked

17:15

about. The defensive back position. I keep

17:18

hearing the Eagles want a defensive back, so I would

17:20

circle them as a potential trade up team.

17:22

And the four dbs to

17:25

look for, and I think the order could

17:27

vary from team to team, But I think you

17:30

got the two Alabama kids, Terry and Arnold

17:32

and kool Aid mckinstree. How I've been described,

17:35

Terry and Arnold was a

17:37

red shirt sophomore, came in as like

17:39

a nickel guy and then evolved into one of

17:41

their top corners and is like all

17:43

world amazing, like you

17:46

know, boy scout, the whole thing. Great. Then

17:48

you got kool Aid McKinstry, who is dealing

17:50

with injury stuff, but he

17:52

is your flashier guy

17:55

who maybe barks a little bit more of that dog,

17:58

you know, CB one mentality. If

18:00

you could have Dion as your kool Aid McKinstry,

18:02

then you could say Darryl Green is your Terryan Arnold

18:04

as far as demeanor and all that goes. Or

18:07

maybe nom the awesome Wall if you will, just

18:09

like a gentleman is what I'm describing

18:11

as ARLs. So I want to say those two guys and

18:13

personalities are different, and the abilities are

18:15

different. And then you've got the kid from Toledo,

18:17

Quinean Mitchell, who will go top twenty.

18:20

I think he's a

18:22

superb athlete. He came

18:24

out in a in an interview and said

18:26

that he wanted to be the greatest MAC athlete, a MAC

18:28

football player of all time. That's Jack Lambert,

18:31

that's Antonio Gates, that's Ben Roethlisberger,

18:33

that's Antonio Brown. But no Quey and Mitchell

18:35

is saying that's me. And

18:38

then the last defensive back would

18:40

be the wild card in this thing. I don't know

18:42

what to do with Cooper Dejeen Aaron.

18:46

Have you seen Cooper dejean basketball footage

18:48

highlights yet? No?

18:49

I haven't watched his basketball play.

18:51

Oh Man went to a school

18:53

of I think a thousand people

18:55

in the town total

18:58

in the school. It's one of those where they had to

19:00

combine like eight different high

19:02

schools to make a team. And he was obviously

19:04

All World Football, All World Beast Ketball.

19:07

Do you have the high school on there? Let's let's give it

19:09

some love here. Cooper Dejane's

19:11

high school is called you'll

19:14

like this one and then we're gonna go.

19:16

Yeah.

19:17

So his high school was called OA BCIG,

19:21

which was like one of those combinations. Give me his hometown

19:23

where he's from, the town of a thousand because

19:26

I think we're gonna put it on the map in this podcast.

19:28

Cooper Degene, uh suit

19:30

Falls, No, it's not suit Falls.

19:33

He might have been born there. Where did he grow up?

19:35

Odiball?

19:36

There we go. Tell me about Odaball.

19:38

Read me a little wiki on odobl Oh,

19:40

gosh it, I

19:45

don't know if there's anything about Odoblt.

19:46

I want the Odobault town of

19:48

Okay. We're going to Odabolt, Iowa.

19:50

The website population as of the

19:52

twenty twenty census was nine hundred and ninety

19:54

four people.

19:55

Nine hundred and ninety four people in the

19:57

entire town, and

20:00

Cooper Degene comes from that town in Iowa.

20:02

It's just farmland, folks. It's

20:04

it's incredible.

20:06

Sping picture on their town website

20:09

is literally farmland. And the

20:11

second is a tractor parade, a tractor. As

20:13

someone who grew up in a very small town that also had

20:15

tractor parades, I know how important

20:17

it is to have a tractor parade when you're a small town,

20:20

and it is a sign of being a small town.

20:22

I'm telling you what we're We're on the website right

20:24

now. There is

20:26

there is nothing to love about Odaball,

20:28

Iowa. This looks lovely.

20:30

This looks very much like Friday

20:32

night lights would be said here. I mean, you've got

20:34

like the water tower with the town name

20:37

on it. You got these picturesque a little bit.

20:39

Once in a hundred years you'll get

20:41

a star athlete in one of these towns. Yeah, that's

20:43

Cooper de Gene. Notable resident.

20:46

Yeah, Jason, give me some notable residents who

20:49

we got one of one. Iowa

20:51

Hawk Outs star cornerback Cooper

20:53

Degene. That's it. That's it. And

20:56

and I think he's a first round pick. I don't. I

20:58

don't know where to put him. I think somewhere twenty to thirty

21:00

two, But like, those are your four corners. So think

21:02

of those guys and Cooper maybe being the

21:04

second round guy. Like, if

21:06

that's the case and you need a defensive back, teams

21:09

are going to be trading. So I've got like a

21:12

lot of teams wanted to move up to get those three

21:14

guys. And I think kool Aid's very interesting

21:17

because he didn't blow anybody at the

21:19

combine or Pro Day or any of that stuff,

21:22

and if you watch the film, he's there all

21:31

right. Some

21:34

other interesting names. I

21:36

think after the big three, the wide receivers

21:38

get really interesting. So I think Rome, Neighbors,

21:42

and Harrison go in the top twelve. Let's

21:44

be generouslet's say top twelve. Then

21:46

you've got Brian Thomas at LSU.

21:48

You got Xavier Worthy the Burner out

21:51

of Texas. Who is the combine workout where You've

21:53

got ad Mitchell out of Texas. You've got

21:55

Lad McConkie, you got Xavier Legette,

21:59

and you look at Keon Coleman at

22:01

a Florida State kind of a bigger body. I

22:04

think those are your wide receiver names

22:07

that would go in the first round. You might

22:09

have another guy, you might have a Ricky

22:11

Piersoll, you might have Franklin, Troy

22:13

Franklin. I think those guys are probably secondard.

22:15

But what's interesting is this in

22:18

that twenty to thirty two, You've

22:20

got Steelers who might need a wide receiver.

22:23

You've got Lions who might need a wide receiver.

22:26

You've got the Cowboys who might

22:28

need a wide receiver. You've got an

22:31

Arizona Cardinals team that's probably taken

22:33

a wide out at four, but like, if they can get two

22:35

wideouts, they'll be their top one and two wide

22:37

outs. Buffalo definitely needs a wide

22:40

receiver. Baltimore could

22:42

be in wide receiver zone because of Odell's

22:45

departure. Forty nine Ers could be wide

22:47

receiver. Rams could be wide receiver. And

22:49

then I'll tell you what's really interesting. Thirty

22:52

three are the Carolina Panthers. They're likely going to

22:54

take a receiver. They have no receiving you help

22:56

whatever. If you jump thirty

22:58

three and you get to thirty two, you

23:00

get that wide receiver for

23:03

five years, not four. So you get them under

23:06

contract for five years, which is a

23:08

really interesting prospect. And so you look at

23:10

teams who might have wide receiver

23:12

needs and say, okay, take someone else.

23:15

You know, say the Patriots, for example, they

23:17

need a quarterback, but

23:19

they're desperate at wide receiver. Do they take

23:21

a quarterback at three and then trade back up

23:23

to thirty two? Very possible

23:26

if you're the Jets and you don't want

23:28

to Now the Jets wouldn't

23:30

be the right team for the Giants and you want to go quarterback

23:33

and say we're taking McCarthy or alt but okay,

23:35

we're going to jump back in we get five years of Xavier

23:38

Lagett or five years of a d Mitchell.

23:40

That could be all right too. So I

23:43

would circle that Kansas City Chiefs thirty second

23:45

pick, and I would say that might be the spot where a

23:47

team moves up to get a wide receiver. A

23:50

couple other little pieces of gossip that

23:52

I've been hearing. I

23:55

think that Philly might be moving around.

23:57

I think that Jacksonville might be moving

23:59

around. I think Indie might be moving

24:01

around. And here's one that just

24:03

as we're getting onto the mics,

24:06

I think Detroit might be looking to move

24:08

around. Now they made two big signings or

24:10

extensions today. I'm on Rossin Brown and Penny

24:12

Sue. Well, now I love it. We're in Detroit.

24:14

They like hold it till a day before the draft. Little

24:16

news, little buzzler momentum. They could have done

24:19

that deal in the last several weeks, but they waited

24:21

till draft week while we're all here. But I

24:23

find that interesting to hear that Detroit's been

24:25

making calls just to hear, just to poke around,

24:27

what do they need. Well, Detroit

24:30

could use a defensive end. Detroit could use

24:32

a defensive back. Obviously,

24:34

they've had some issues, you

24:36

know, with the back end there, and there's been

24:38

some departures this season, and one of

24:40

those players is having some legal stuff. So maybe

24:43

it's for one of the top corners. Interesting

24:46

to watch running

24:49

backs, I don't see a single running back in the first round.

24:53

I guess Bijeon went first round last year

24:55

and Gibbs went first round. I

24:57

don't even know if there's a running back in the first fifty

25:00

picks. To be honest, I would

25:02

say Marshawn Lloyd or Jonathan

25:04

brook So the top two running backs. But like that, it's not

25:06

even a position I'm considering right now. Safety

25:09

not a position I'm considering right now. Linebacker.

25:13

There's some love for Colson out

25:16

of Michigan. Not

25:18

a first rounder. I don't think my

25:21

whole deal is like I want to get as many first round

25:23

picks, right, So that's not direct HiT's

25:25

necessarily, but I'd like to give you the idea of

25:27

like, all right, if I get twenty two or twenty

25:30

five or twenty eight of the thirty two first

25:32

round picks, that's pretty good. I don't see any

25:34

running backs. I don't see any pure safeties. I don't

25:36

see any linebackers middle

25:38

linebackers. I would have been wrong because I didn't have Jack Campbell

25:40

last year. And then I'm

25:43

not sure other

25:46

than Brock Bowers if we're

25:49

going to even smell a tight end up top. Rock

25:51

Bowers is interesting, another name

25:54

I've heard tied to a million teams, and yet

25:56

when you're doing a mock draft, if you don't have him to the Jets,

25:59

like it's hard to place him. The

26:01

two players that I've been told to have been the cleanest

26:04

prospects by cleanest meaning character,

26:07

health, everything A Doonesday

26:10

and Brock Bowers. Both

26:13

those guys are really interesting. Team

26:17

that I would watch to

26:19

see what they do if

26:21

there's a quarterback slipping

26:24

is the Denver

26:26

Broncos. Do they trade back into the

26:28

first round? If they pass on a McCarthy

26:31

or a Knicks and one

26:33

of them is still sitting there with there be Pennix or

26:35

Nicks. They don't have a ton of ammunition.

26:37

But I think Sean Payton, looking at his quarterback

26:40

room, could go to war with Zach Wilson and convince

26:42

himself that Zach Wilson and Jared Stidham

26:44

and then Denucie co compete. But

26:47

I think you feel a lot better if you ended up getting Bo

26:49

Nicks or a Spencer Rattler in the second round,

26:51

even a name that's been buzzing

26:54

a bit, Byron Murphy out of Texas.

26:57

I originally had him going eighteen to Cincinnati

26:59

in my first mock dround. I think he was higher than that.

27:02

That was some of the feedback I got,

27:05

And then I would just go through the tackles and one

27:08

of those guys is going to be the first one taken. It's

27:10

either going to be Alt Fuaga

27:13

or this JC Latham, who, as we're recording

27:15

this, I'm telling you has got more heat than maybe any other

27:17

player in this draft. I just keep on hearing his

27:19

name come up. Oulu

27:22

Fashanu at a Penn State has a

27:24

lot of fans. I think he's a guy who could play left

27:26

tackle, which is helpful. Would consider

27:28

him a top twenty pick for sure. Troy

27:32

Fatanu out of Washington. Not

27:35

sure his health is everything

27:37

that everyone wants. I've heard some questions

27:40

on that. I'm

27:42

trying to spell his name right here. Faugh new

27:47

the auto correct on my word

27:49

document keeps on changing these guys' names.

27:51

I'm like, no, those are the real names. Relax.

27:55

Amarus Mims is a name

27:57

to watch. Giant, massive

27:59

offensive tackle out of Georgia. Doesn't

28:03

necessarily have the tape

28:05

or what you want, like, that's the upside guy. And

28:08

then the last one I would The two last ones

28:10

I would circle is we

28:14

got an NFL head coach Colin right now, but we

28:16

can't pick that up on the podcast. We'll call him

28:18

back in a second. The

28:20

other two would be Geiton and

28:23

Jordan Morgan who plays

28:25

at Arizona. Those

28:27

are your first round prospects. You

28:30

know you can go through the list. Graham Barton, the inside

28:32

guy at a duke. Darius Robinson

28:35

out of Missouri chop.

28:37

Robinson's a name, the guy who's

28:39

falling, and I hate it for him because I

28:41

think he's a great kid, and I've seen him do the media tour. I

28:43

think Lotso is gonna fall. I had him going

28:46

top twelve in my first mock draft.

28:48

I think he ends up going in the twenties. The medicals

28:50

just are not as clean as everyone feeling

28:52

comfortable. Seems like it all you need is one team,

28:54

like he can go eighth to Atlanta and I wimb shock. But you

28:57

know what happened. He was medically retired with a neck

28:59

injury all season

29:02

or draft season along. I've been told by everyone, it's fine,

29:04

it's fine, it's fine. Well, the day for the draft,

29:07

I don't know if you're taking a guy who was madic.

29:09

I mean, just sucks to hear that. But I don't think he's fallen out

29:11

of the first round. But I don't think he's going top eight

29:13

or top twelve. Before

29:18

we get to my mock drafts on part two? Is there anything?

29:21

Oh, there's a guy Newton out of Illinois. I didn't have him

29:23

defensive tackle. I didn't have him

29:26

in my first round. And I heard it from every

29:28

fan, but did not hear it from NFL teams. So

29:30

that tells me that, like I might be less far

29:32

off on that maybe Newton goes, maybe

29:35

he doesn't. But to not have Newton from Illinois

29:37

in the first round, it's not like I missed on like a top

29:39

ten pick or anything. Pennix,

29:44

like I said, two teams Nicks, I only could

29:46

think of the Broncos, and I

29:48

think of the Vikings miss quarterback

29:51

in the top ten and McCarthy gets taken like

29:53

I think they could take at eleven Penix

29:55

and be okay. I would say this as we wrap

29:58

this little notes emptying session. From

30:01

what I hear and from what it sounds like,

30:04

Minnesota is

30:06

closer. How

30:08

do I put this, Minnesota

30:11

might look at JJ

30:13

McCarthy closer to Pennix than

30:15

they do Drake May, meaning the Drake

30:18

May might be their first you know,

30:20

their their love affair, and it's not

30:22

like McCarthy's right after him. I think there's a drop

30:24

off, and then it's McCarthy and there's less of

30:26

a drop off, and then Pennix. That's how I would

30:28

order it for them. So that's

30:30

where I'm at at three or three thirty. I

30:32

hope that was exciting for everyone listening. As you're

30:35

on the treadmill, I would encourage you then to

30:37

now click on part two,

30:39

which is going to be coming out as well, which is where

30:41

I'm coming out in my mock draft as of four

30:45

o'clock Eastern

30:47

on Wednesday. And of course whatever's

30:49

printed on NFL dot Com on Thursday

30:51

morning and I present on Good Morning Football might

30:54

be different because it might have changed based on

30:56

until I've gotten over the last few hours. But this is my

30:59

my empty of the notebook. Like

31:01

I said, I think it could be six quarterbacks

31:04

taken. I wouldn't be shocked if it was just five. I

31:07

think there's going to be ten or

31:09

so trades made in this draft,

31:11

and I think there are going to be some

31:14

wild, wild moves

31:16

going on from about nine to fourteen.

31:20

That includes the Jets, that includes the Broncos,

31:22

that includes the Vikings, that includes the

31:25

Bears. Like I don't think it's just going to be chalk,

31:28

So take with that what you will. Everybody,

31:31

finish up your session on the treadmill or

31:33

your drive or wherever.

31:35

Else, or your match of

31:37

call of duty.

31:38

You'aying I'm a Minecraft guy?

31:40

Oh?

31:40

Never never played Minecraft? Yeah?

31:42

I have not either.

31:43

Are you into the shoot them up game?

31:44

No? I am notoriously horrible at

31:46

any first person kind of thing.

31:48

What about Twitch?

31:49

You ever watched anyone play video over

31:52

pandemic? I watched some people play among

31:55

Us and great people play. I

31:58

actually watched people play mad in one teacher one

32:00

time one time.

32:03

Yeah, I'm not like, So let me ask you about among

32:05

Us? Is that did they take among Us and then make

32:07

the HBO show based

32:09

on among Us? Yes?

32:11

You thinking about Last of Us?

32:13

Yes?

32:13

Yeah, so that's among Us is like a cute

32:15

kids game where like you're on a spaceship and

32:18

right different game. Last

32:20

of Us is like the gritty zombie post

32:22

apocalyptic thing.

32:23

Got it one last thing

32:25

before we wrap it up? How dumb? Sorry?

32:28

How do I put this?

32:31

Good start? Interested

32:34

to see where this goes?

32:37

As an NBA fan, You're

32:39

gonna put Nick Sixers and

32:42

Nuggets Lakers on Thursday

32:44

night up against the NFL Draft, Like, can

32:47

you wait at night? Can you take Can the NBA

32:49

have some foresight on this and say, you know what,

32:51

the NFL Draft is a big deal. ESPN

32:54

is a partner, the NFL

32:56

network is gonna be airing, Like, I'm

32:58

devastated. I can't watch my

33:01

Knicks play the Sixers Game three

33:03

and I just see the schedule it's a loaded NBA night,

33:05

and it's like, guys, I'm not asking

33:07

you to put up a white flag here, but maybe

33:10

just play that game Friday night of Night

33:12

two as opposed to going up against the

33:14

Jets and the Giants with top ten picks.

33:16

Especially when you have huge storylines

33:18

around each one. The Knicks game,

33:21

like, I mean, the Knicks

33:23

beating Embiid would be amazing.

33:25

Whatever, that's amazing series that you can't That's how

33:28

do you ask a Knicks fan Because a Knicks

33:30
