The right club. Peter Wright Club

0:08

today.

0:12

That's better

0:14

than most. About

0:17

him. That is better than most.

0:20

Better than most.

0:26

Expect anything different. Ladies

0:29

and gentlemen, welcome back to the Nolanga

0:31

podcast, Soly's calling in

0:33

from a hotel in

0:35

Monterrey, TC is here.

0:37

Good afternoon, TC. How are you? I'm great.

0:39

Calling in from my garage. D. J.

0:41

Pie is here. Hello, mister Pie Man.

0:44

Hey, Solly. Good to

0:46

be with

0:46

you. Can't wait to hear about your week. Thanks for

0:48

having me on your show. And a new

0:51

addition to the team, a not

0:53

a new addition to the Nolan Podcast.

0:55

You've heard this voice enough times that

0:58

you may have wondered if he was a part of this podcast,

1:00

but now officially a team member

1:02

of no laying up mister Kevin Van

1:04

Valkenburg. KBV, what does it like to be here

1:07

for your first time as an official employee?

1:10

God morning. No

1:12

laying up. And

1:14

it's fight it's fabulous to finally

1:17

be getting paid. To be on this

1:19

podcast, you know, really

1:22

my wife was like, at at some point, are they

1:24

gonna pay you? I was like, who

1:25

knows? You know? It's it's it's it's one long

1:27

rolling seven year audition. So

1:29

who should start to ask those

1:31

questions right now too? Yeah. You know what it's like

1:33

in these journalism streets, KBV, know,

1:35

just keep going to work for you. On Instagram.

1:37

Just tag me on the

1:38

gram. We'll tag the exposure is huge.

1:40

Exactly. You put this on your resume. No.

1:43

But, like, sincerely, thank

1:45

you to all the people who were,

1:47

like, excited about this that me doing this

1:49

and kind of accepted me is sort

1:52

of pseudo member of the band for many years and

1:55

and actually we're I I woke up at, like, five in

1:57

the morning when we were about to announce and I was like, oh,

1:59

What if no one cares about this? What

2:01

if it gets, like, ten retweets? And

2:03

then it

2:03

was, like, a fire hose of of Twitter

2:06

mentions for the entire day. So Thank

2:08

you. We can we'll reflect on this all

2:10

a little later as we get towards the end of the show. We

2:12

got a lot to cover here. First of all, FootJoy

2:15

was the number one shoe the AT and T

2:17

Pebble Beach ProAm sixty, two percent

2:19

of the players who teed it up were wearing

2:21

FootJoy. The next closest shoe

2:23

brand, ten percent That is a dominant

2:26

performance. That's nothing new though. FootJoy has been the number

2:28

one shoe in the PGA Tour every single

2:30

year since nineteen forty five that is seventy

2:32

eight consecutive years for thousands

2:35

of tournaments, millions of miles of best players

2:37

have walked with FootJoy above all all

2:39

others. These players understand that shoes are

2:41

a critical piece of equipment Soly's

2:43

more than half the field at every tournament. Trust

2:45

the best whether it's Max Homa. This is

2:47

in the copy. I gotta read this, guys. This Max

2:49

Homa, Justin Thomas, Jess Corda, Daniel

2:51

King or even TC, Soly's, and Neil.

2:54

I don't know why other people got left off

2:56

because this is in the

2:57

copy, DJ. That's alright. Play play better.

2:59

You know, I get it. I get it. It's kinda

3:02

like how Getty identified you as

3:04

a fan taking a selfie with

3:05

Gilbert. Today? Let me get to the Adri.

3:07

We got to get the content, man. Come on. Players

3:09

everywhere trust their game to the overwhelming

3:12

number one shoe in

3:13

golf, FootJoy. We

3:15

are a court question for you. We're is that just

3:18

is that

3:18

just the pros? Is that amateurs as well?

3:20

III believe

3:21

I took

3:22

it from sixty one to sixty two percent this past

3:24

week is what I I believe it it went through. Did

3:26

you have to do a Darryl survey? Darryl survey

3:28

absolutely looked in my bag

3:30

and picked up my golf ball in the putting green to

3:32

see what golf ball was playing. Those those

3:34

are the hardest working people in golf. I'm dead

3:36

dead serious. Just to see if he picked it up. He's

3:39

like, okay. Twenty three ProAm one. Got it. Okay.

3:41

And moved on. I'm dead serious. I'm dead serious.

3:43

They were doing a ball count for the

3:44

amateurs, so I don't know if we get a full

3:46

report on that one. But

3:48

that guy could have messed with you so much if if

3:50

you were just said, oh, you're not playing the act though? I just

3:52

think of that. Alright. Hey. Hey. Hey.

3:55

This one's this one's actually not approved yet.

3:57

USJ conforming.

4:00

For the record, we are recording this on Sunday

4:02

night. There is a champion has not been

4:04

crowned yet. For the Pebble Beach ProAm.

4:06

lot of complications that come with a Monday finish,

4:08

including some of our own travel schedules,

4:10

and we were just planning to this podcast thing.

4:12

We got a lot to talk about anyways. There may be

4:14

a supplemental pod if there's a crazy finish tomorrow,

4:17

but we can reflect on ninety five percent

4:19

of the tournament that has been played to

4:21

this point and get to a lot of other topics,

4:23

which is Now I'll give you the floor. If you would

4:25

like to just what what gave you the biggest

4:27

tickle? Maybe I've ever seen you get was

4:30

was what happened today on on

4:31

Getty. You know what it is is sometimes,

4:34

you know, sometimes there's a moment where

4:36

you can kinda see the whole chessboard ahead

4:38

of you. Right? And you're like,

4:40

you know, we're we're obviously, we got

4:43

KBV jumping on the squad now. So all

4:45

of a sudden, we're like, oh, we need to figure out what we're doing

4:47

with images. We signed up for a Getty subscription.

4:49

So I'm on Getty today. I was like, oh, what if there's any

4:51

photos of Search Chris Sullivan

4:53

Golf. Of course, there's nothing. So

4:56

that I was like, oh my gosh. I know what's

4:58

gonna happen. And I searched Phil Murray,

5:00

and there he is. And I'm like, they're they're not

5:02

gonna they're gonna identify him as a fan.

5:04

That's exactly what it was. And not only

5:07

it would have been another thing if it was like,

5:09

Bill Murray shares a joke with a fan

5:11

off screen, but it's like it's

5:13

you taking a selfie with Bill Murray

5:15

and it's says, Bill Murray takes a photo with a

5:17

fan during the Pebble Beach National program.

5:20

Of course, for those that weren't following along, Bill

5:22

Murray was your partner or not your partner.

5:24

But in your in your group this week,

5:26

of course, these DA points as partner, we can get

5:28

to that later. But just really good stuff,

5:30

man. And and so, you know, I know it was

5:33

it was a big week for you. I'm sure it was

5:35

it was just, you know, dopamine hit

5:37

after dopamine hit. And I I just that was

5:39

a good you know, that was a good one

5:41

to take you back to Earth. I'd I'd reentry,

5:43

so you didn't get the bends coming back even the podcast

5:45

here.

5:47

Well, we could I what's funny is I played

5:49

it as cool as possible for the entire week

5:51

was definitely not, like, you know, following

5:54

bill around everywhere. And we get to seventeen

5:56

team. We're just, like, waiting forever to start this

5:58

morning. There's not that many people around. Everyone

6:00

starts taking pictures because there's a rainbow back

6:02

there. And I was just realizing, I don't have any pictures

6:04

with Bill yet. I was like, I gotta get one. And I I was like,

6:06

finally, it it warmed up to me by that point.

6:08

And I was like, alright. I gotta get one. And sure

6:11

enough, like, that's the one the Getty guy gets.

6:13

And and and you just proceeded

6:15

to just the Getty guy just lobbed the alley

6:17

loop and you windmill through the legs on me is

6:19

perfect.

6:20

I promise we'll get to the tournament eventually, but

6:22

if we tell the story of -- You know, Justin

6:24

Rose is winning. We don't need

6:25

the Yeah. I think I

6:27

think that's Right? Did we tell the story from a hoopie?

6:29

Would would Bill laughed out loud at your face?

6:31

Did you guys revisit that at all this

6:33

week? I was kinda hoping he god about

6:35

that, so we did not revisit that. I was kind

6:37

of like, yeah, we we might I think we met at Oompi.

6:39

I don't know if you remember, but he at

6:41

least pretended like he remembered. So we we didn't

6:44

get The previous dunking was not

6:46

revisited. Okay. probably

6:47

still had PTSD from when I beat his ass.

6:51

So I'm

6:51

gonna have to get you on the perfect club and talk about

6:53

your five favorite build Mario movies. You know,

6:55

we'll bring in for the rush more pod. Like,

6:58

I'm not the big I'm not the biggest cinephile,

7:00

and I'm not the biggest, like, Bill Murray guy.

7:03

So I, like, don't have the full perspective

7:05

on his whole career. Which

7:07

now, you know, after playing with him was kinda like, oh,

7:09

I kinda gotta go back and and watch his movies. And

7:11

I probably would've

7:12

maybe

7:12

I would've been pretty good. I would've been

7:14

a little more nervous. To do that

7:16

than than I was, which you see, what do you

7:18

think the odds were that you and I would both

7:21

play golf with Bill Murray within a two month

7:23

span of each other and two totally different

7:25

separate parts of the

7:26

country.

7:26

Yeah. Both both, like,

7:27

two top, you know, fifty golf courses

7:29

in the world just kinda surreal. Right?

7:32

SurVeil is the is the word I would use to

7:35

to describe a lot of this past week, and I truly

7:37

don't really know where to start. Let's let's

7:39

dive into it. So I mean, of

7:41

course, Sally playing in as a as

7:43

an amateur, not a celebrity. I'd love to visit

7:45

that question. He was a he was a

7:47

dick about it. He was a dick writer's flight.

7:50

At the Pebble Beach AT and T Pebble Beach

7:52

National ProAm. I don't

7:54

know. So mean, what like, Kevin,

7:56

you wanna start? Let's Yeah. I mean, I

7:58

feel like as a big j journalist

8:01

here, you know, I haven't given up that title.

8:04

I figured we'd go a little frosting and style style

8:06

and and grill you a little bit. Let's just start

8:08

out with what were your emotions about getting

8:10

tapped for this.

8:11

My emotions were Probably

8:14

doesn't. It's not only. A

8:17

little bit of confusion as to why

8:19

it was a very kind of late invite. The when

8:21

I got an invite, it said RSVP by December

8:23

fifteenth. And it was, like, already, like, January,

8:26

like, tenth. So I don't know how I was supposed to do that.

8:28

I don't know if it was because of the horrific weather

8:30

that hit the west Coast this earlier this year

8:32

if people bailed or whatever it was, but

8:34

kinda got the last minute tap to go play in it.

8:37

It was always something I'd I think

8:39

Gary Beeeldier's spot. Always

8:42

thought that I wanted to do and never really,

8:44

like, imagine that I would ever get that opportunity.

8:46

And I was just a little

8:49

anxious, a little nervous, a little bit of, like,

8:51

I don't really still really know what I'm doing here. I definitely,

8:53

like, I I definitely didn't wanna be in celebrity

8:56

division because, like, no one there knew who

8:58

I was. It was amazing playing

9:00

with Bill Murray and in front of a lot of people

9:02

and, like, no one paying any attention to

9:04

what I was doing. It was awesome. Like, it was not nerve

9:06

wracking at all in that way, but yeah,

9:08

like, legitimately extremely, extremely, extremely

9:11

excited to go do it. And I

9:14

I gosh, it it say lived up to the hype would

9:16

kind of be underselling it, I think, because

9:18

watched the tournament for long time. I

9:20

have, you know, long been an admirer

9:22

of Pebble Beach, and I've only played it once like twelve

9:24

years ago and to get to tee it

9:26

up in a actual PGA Tour event with

9:28

like fans out there and leaderboards and

9:31

painted cups and like,

9:33

literally playing in the just competing

9:35

in the PGA Tour event was it felt like I

9:37

was in, like, an AT and T commercial. Like, that's what

9:39

like, the big shoots out there, like, you're

9:41

not actually competing in the event, but you're, like, in

9:43

the with the actual fans out there, it felt

9:46

like was playing in a commercial. So I was

9:48

very, very, very excited.

9:49

Were were you worried that I think

9:51

all that would've been going through my head would've been, like, screwing

9:54

up the PJ Tour competition. And,

9:56

like, somehow, like, whatever, leaving

9:58

a footprint, a bunker, or, you

10:00

know, just accidentally hitting the wrong ball or

10:02

something like that.

10:03

Dad Dad, what the fuck are you doing? Yeah.

10:05

Truly. My dad was on

10:07

the bag for me this past week. We had a

10:09

a conversation about, you know, distance measuring

10:11

devices. You can't say it out loud. What the numbers

10:14

are? The ProAm find out what any of that is. He did

10:16

a great job with that. He he asked

10:18

the Caddy for directions

10:20

on how to rake a bunker and he did a great job with

10:22

those. It was I was amazed

10:24

to how quickly, though, it didn't feel

10:26

like APJ door event in terms of, you

10:28

know, I Crystal was my playing partner, d

10:30

a points was the other pro in the group. They

10:32

were legitimately like a ten out of ten in terms

10:34

of hosting the group and did not make

10:37

you feel in any way, like, you

10:39

were in their way. And, like, I was putting I

10:41

had, like, a six or seven foot par putt

10:43

on the first hole and my playing

10:45

partner was already in for five and DA turns to me.

10:47

He's, like, don't worry about picking up. Like, these rounds

10:49

are gonna take forever. Like, play your golf ball. Like,

10:51

we're we're here to have fun. That was, like, super

10:53

helpful. That was a great thing to hear on the

10:55

first hole to think, like, alright, I'm not gonna be in people's

10:58

way. I'm not, you know, an asshole for putting an

11:00

foot par putt that doesn't mean anything. And so

11:02

I I honestly I got really comfortable in

11:04

it way faster than I would have thought, but it was that

11:06

was due to who we were paired with and how, like, supportive

11:08

and helpful with those guys where they both played the event so many

11:11

times and they know exactly what it's about. So

11:13

how does it how do you end up with Stroud? Does he is

11:15

there a draft? Do you just like, draw it, all of a

11:17

sudden, you get open and envelope, puts the deal.

11:19

I don't know exactly. I I know that he

11:22

has played with Bill and DA before

11:24

in this event, and I think I was kind of the plug that.

11:26

More than I was necessarily paired with Stroud or

11:28

maybe, you know, the organizers knew how

11:30

good of a host he would be. But I I'm serious,

11:32

man. He was really struggling with back

11:35

issues like, he I was surprised he did not withdraw

11:37

in day one. He had a really tough front nine.

11:39

He's been struggling for the last couple years with back injuries.

11:41

And, like, dude, he'd, like, make a bogey, and then he'd,

11:43

like, come over and bend down and

11:46

read my putts, like, every single time, like,

11:48

incredibly specific, super helpful,

11:50

every single putt. He he kind of figured

11:52

out very quickly that I might be a very bad green

11:54

reader, which is kinda lost him eye opening for

11:56

me. And he just helped with everything.

11:58

We're finally saying that out

11:59

loud. JT's pounding his

12:01

steering wheel right out of his pocket. He's

12:05

gonna have to pull over in text right now and

12:07

be like, listen. He can take my pledge, but

12:09

I got a text about this right

12:11

now. That again helps

12:13

so much because, like, do even if you have, like, a

12:15

good catty point you're in a line, it's not the same

12:17

as people again,

12:19

similar to playing with JT and Speed, the speed at

12:21

which they were able to process the information and

12:23

what the up and downhill was because the it can

12:25

play tricks on you out there. It's a ton of, you

12:28

know, elevation change and a lot of things that your eyes

12:30

fix always, like, come take a laugh and you're gonna see that it's actually

12:32

downhill, looks uphill, blah blah blah.

12:34

All that just kind of really, really put me in a

12:36

comfort zone. And I yeah. III

12:39

owe the the excitement in my voice has owed

12:41

a lot to how great of playing partner Chris Drowd

12:43

was.

12:44

Sweet. So if I told the seventeen year

12:46

old version of you that you were gonna to play

12:48

in the Pebble Beach program with Bill

12:50

Murray. How many PGA tour events would you assume

12:52

you had won at that point? Well,

12:55

considering didn't have any college offers at seventeen.

12:58

I think I probably would have I don't

13:00

know. I don't know what situation I would have possibly

13:02

led to to this

13:03

happening, but

13:04

A lot of questions -- valuable. -- as Zach

13:06

Johnson posted out as well. A lot

13:08

of questions about I thought you hated Bill Murray.

13:10

You guys are always ragging on him, blah blah

13:12

blah. I am gonna repeat what DJ

13:14

Pie has said, I believe, many times over

13:16

the years on this podcast, which is

13:19

that the in person experience of this tournament. Correct

13:21

me if I'm wrong, DJ, you've said this that in

13:23

person, it's a totally different vibe than

13:25

what you see on television and what we see like in

13:27

social media. Right?

13:30

And I have long thought

13:32

that Bill's act is repetitive

13:34

and tired, and I can confirm

13:37

that it is very repetitive. And

13:39

Now having played with him for fifty four holes,

13:42

I understand exactly why, because

13:45

people from all over this community line up

13:47

along the ropes and are there to see

13:49

Bill Murray, and they are there to see him do something

13:51

very silly. They're there to see him throw his

13:53

club. He walks up to all of them,

13:55

takes photos with all of them, shakes their hands,

13:58

I asked him about, like, hey, which one of your these

14:00

courses is, like, your favorite? And he's, like, well, the

14:02

people at spy are, like, you know, blah blah

14:04

blah, but know, the people at at Pebble

14:06

or, like, his immediate response was

14:08

about the people. Like, he goes and walks outside

14:10

the ropes in between shots and It

14:12

goes up to people's house. People be hanging on their backyards.

14:15

just go up there and talk to them and

14:17

socialize and, you know, he knows a lot of those

14:19

people after having played in it for so many years.

14:22

And so that's where it's also, like,

14:24

alright, man. Maybe this thing, like, wasn't just for

14:26

me, like, you know, the same video

14:28

clips get posted every year, and I don't think it's funny

14:30

when I watch it online. But I have to see it like watching

14:32

people light up in person and watching people

14:34

look directly through me, like, not

14:36

even notice me walking in between just

14:38

to see him. Was like, okay.

14:40

Like, maybe that's why this thing is the way that

14:42

it is. And I yes.

14:45

Your parents know your parents yelled for me. They were very

14:47

nice. They I wouldn't talk to them. So

14:50

and, like, he was awesome with me,

14:52

super nice with me, like, very normal once you got

14:54

inside the ropes and talking to him and So

14:57

listen, it was a it was a great thrill to play

14:59

with

14:59

him, honestly. And I

15:01

think so so Neil called him the most

15:03

overrated golf ball.

15:05

Oh, wow. During during some of our COVID

15:08

ranking

15:08

podcasts or whatever. Yeah.

15:13

But I I think part of it

15:15

is, it was never as much about Bill

15:17

as it was about the

15:19

dance for me. You know,

15:21

kind of thing. Like, they never put him in a position

15:23

to succeed. They never like, they they

15:25

did a disservice to him with a lot of the

15:28

coverage that that

15:30

they did of this tournament. And I feel like

15:32

we've turned that around somewhat. We didn't

15:34

really get Saturday telecast this year, so it's tough

15:37

to know. But it's gotten

15:39

better over the last few years, I think.

15:41

Like, you know, it was fantastic today,

15:43

but that's you know, there were no amateurs on the course.

15:45

So Yeah. I

15:46

mean, I I think a lot of it's just a matter of,

15:48

like, it's not Bill's fault. It's

15:51

No. Hundred percent not. Right?

15:53

Because It it is like,

15:55

these people lapped it up. And

15:57

it was extremely innocent stuff

15:59

of just, like, hit a decent drive, throw

16:01

the club up really cocky. Like, that happened on

16:03

repeat. Right? And every time people

16:06

laughed it up. Happy grown hog day, Bill.

16:08

Happy grown hog, like, two days after grown

16:10

hog day. Still young. On it. And I

16:12

mean, people were there for it though. And he just, like,

16:15

I I can't I can't hate on it because

16:17

it it it was very real. I that's what

16:19

it felt like to me. And he is embrace

16:21

his role as an entertainer and a man

16:23

of the people. And I was impressed by

16:25

that.

16:25

It's so easy in person to

16:28

to get swept up in all of it. Right?

16:30

And

16:30

All hundred percent. It's very similar honestly

16:32

to a lot of how think people feel

16:35

not to bend over, you know, too far

16:37

and strain for metaphor. But, like, very similar

16:39

to how people feel about Pebble Beach in general.

16:41

When every all the Internet poisoned

16:43

people, you know, and do that like, do they have a point

16:46

about this? Yes. And five does below start

16:48

to get into the, like, yeah. Well, you know, if it wasn't

16:50

on the ocean, it wouldn't be any good. You know,

16:52

if this hole should be so much better, this hole should

16:54

be so much better, blah blah blah blah. It's like, dude, go

16:57

walk around number 6789,

17:00

ten with like a drink watching

17:02

golf and like go ask it all those people if

17:04

any of them give a fuck about anything that

17:06

you're

17:07

saying. You know, a twenty

17:08

two dollar

17:09

whiskey ginger. Yeah. And it's like, if you're

17:11

the and and this is again, like,

17:13

it it's it's good to push the envelope

17:15

and push for ideals and, you know,

17:17

something stinks you should change it. But

17:19

at the same time, it's, like, really hard

17:21

to look at any of the people, you know, at the Pebble

17:24

Beach company and and be like, hey, I know your

17:26

golf course has been sold out for a hundred

17:28

and eight years straight, but, like, you really

17:30

should overhaul everything and shut it down and change

17:32

it. Because, like, there's some people over here who just,

17:34

like, think it could be way better. You know? And I think

17:37

this tournament has a lot of the same,

17:39

you know, has a lot of the same energy

17:41

to it. Now, is

17:43

that, you know, will those chickens maybe come

17:45

home to roost at some point

17:47

possibly? I

17:48

and they're roosting. And do you see do

17:50

we see a shitty field at this event? And

17:52

does this event probably have a lot less energy

17:55

than it did, you know, five,

17:57

ten, fifteen, certainly twenty,

17:59

thirty, forty years ago, definitely. But

18:03

I guess, I'm trying to

18:05

say that I get why it's

18:07

hard to change

18:08

stuff, and I get why it's kind of gotten to that

18:10

point. Doesn't excuse it, but I I

18:12

do understand it from being there. Among

18:15

very many very weird things I will probably

18:17

say on this podcast about things that happened this past

18:19

week. I was actually talking to Alfonso Rivera about

18:21

this. About

18:23

how he

18:24

made a really good point of like, dude, there's there's

18:26

one like movie star

18:29

left. And it's Tom Cruise. Like,

18:31

one guy that is the blockbuster

18:33

sells all the tickets out. And I was like, what do you mean?

18:36

Like, Leo Caprio is not a movie story. He's like,

18:38

I mean, name the last movie he did that made

18:40

blah blah blah amount of money. And I was like, oh, so

18:42

that's that's what you mean by it. But, like, you don't

18:44

mean there's no actors left. You just mean movie started

18:46

blah blah blah. And it was is, like, think about

18:48

how different celebrity is in

18:50

twenty twenty three versus, like, even the nineties

18:53

when we just didn't have all this access

18:55

to Instagram and all these things and

18:57

and constant updates as to where everyone

18:59

was. And I just found that III

19:01

was viewing the tournament through that lens

19:03

to say, like, I don't know, man. It

19:05

felt like a lot of big names were walking

19:07

around that player village. Right? In terms of celebrity

19:10

like, Ray Romano came up and interrupted our

19:12

lunch to to talk to Keith Mitchell today.

19:14

As I was showing him my video, my shot on eighteen

19:17

was really rude. And and,

19:19

like, at no point too, you know, the field

19:21

is, like, definitely, definitely weak.

19:23

When you're there, it also, like, doesn't really seem to matter

19:26

that much. Like, it's just a it

19:28

it doesn't and I don't mean this in a battle, but it

19:30

doesn't feel like APJ tour event. It just

19:32

feels like a huge massive function

19:34

that oh, by the way, we're, like, we're giving away nine million

19:36

as well. But, like, most people seem

19:38

to be know they're there for the to entertain

19:41

locally. More than it is, I'm trying

19:43

to grind my balls off for a PGA tour

19:45

event. Which makes sense? Oh, totally

19:47

makes sense. Not not to turn this into, you

19:49

know, one of our perfect club podcasts, KBV,

19:51

but it's like I think Ray Romano's,

19:54

like, the perfect example of think about how different

19:56

celebrity was when he was syndicated on,

19:58

you know, TV for four

20:01

hours a day with reruns of his show. Like, he

20:03

is just a ubiquitous star

20:05

in a way that is almost kinda like frozen in

20:07

time that doesn't really exist anymore, which

20:09

is where I wasn't there this year, but,

20:11

like, I think the only people

20:13

who are kinda sorta able to fill that

20:16

role are, like, the athletes. Right? Like,

20:18

Aaron Rogers is a gigantic gigantic

20:21

star to everybody

20:22

there. Right? But, like, it's

20:24

Soly's a gigantic sandbagger too.

20:26

That's true as as we found. He

20:28

played, like, way so good in that bullshit

20:31

thing up in Montana, and

20:32

he's, like, making eagles and birdies and all of a sudden he's

20:34

playing off a ten. I have I believe

20:36

I understand why, which there's a how this

20:38

tournament I believe works is if you play

20:40

in it and you're you don't make

20:42

the

20:42

cut, your handicap freezes.

20:45

I believe at that number, so he has played in it

20:47

as a ten and not made the cut. And

20:49

I believe your handicap stays the same.

20:51

And that's this was, like, my idea on that

20:54

commissioner for the day pod where I

20:55

said, if you win the masters, you

20:57

should be able to play those to these. I

21:01

wonder if they heard that. Oh,

21:05

Gary played it out. That's

21:07

that's

21:07

like that's like a recipe for sandbagging

21:09

disaster.

21:11

But I don't think it's Aaron's fault is my

21:13

point. I I think I don't know. I I really

21:15

don't know how that how that part work, but I don't know how

21:17

he could feel good about himself winning that because his partner

21:19

shot over par, and they shot like twenty

21:21

five under. I don't know how you feel good about that.

21:24

But Band it. Anyways,

21:26

it it also is like extremely not competitive

21:28

amongst the

21:29

amateurs, and everyone is is obviously there and

21:31

have a very fun time. So thankfully, we have

21:33

no evidence whatsoever of Aaron Rogers, like,

21:35

following the spirit, not the letter of the law

21:37

in various rules and regulations.

21:39

Also, lots of lay up jokes here

21:41

if I, you know, I'm not used seeing in Rogers get

21:43

so many shots.

21:44

Sure. lot of that flying around out

21:46

there. So just Did he did he mention

21:48

me at all, Soly's? Did he

21:50

bring it up. But We

21:51

didn't talk. You know, we didn't have a chance

21:53

to have a drop pads. Yeah. But who

21:55

did you interact with that was that was,

21:57

like, Soly's You know,

21:59

it wasn't expecting

22:00

that. You know who was awesome was Will

22:02

Arnett. We know he was in

22:05

the group right in front of us. And

22:07

we had either, like, was

22:09

somewhat familiar with no laying up or, like,

22:11

was unbelievable act oh, shit.

22:14

Now I think about he's an actor. That makes sense.

22:16

But he pretended really well

22:18

that he knew and was super nice the whole

22:20

week, and we had a great time.

22:22

I spent a lot of time with Ben Rector. That was huge

22:24

highlight. With a lot of friendly wagers

22:26

and things like

22:27

that. What about real celebrities, though?

22:29

I I wasn't I wasn't shy. Yeah. I would go

22:32

up and you

22:32

guys are on my phone. Us.

22:33

I think

22:34

we called the sorry. I

22:36

didn't interact with Kandi. No nothing with

22:38

Kandi. Alfonso wrote in the car with Alfonso

22:40

Rivera. That was fun. He is a golf

22:42

junkie dude. Every like, he was

22:44

grinding so hard. Every time like, overheard

22:46

him, he was talking about, like so I

22:48

got, like, two ninety in. Right? But the wind is

22:50

down. But, like, he was super, super into

22:52

it. Who else?

22:54

McDermott does not you know,

22:56

any 640 McManus? Anybody like that?

22:58

Any titans of industry? Yeah.

23:01

IIII spoke with John Stankey,

23:03

the CEO of

23:04

A. He's Stankey Legg. Edi

23:06

q at apple at I've met

23:08

him and talked with him for a while. That was fantastic.

23:11

I played a practice around with Ryan

23:13

Smith, the owner of the Utah Jazz. I also

23:15

known as Qualtrics Ryan. I

23:17

had great time. And, I

23:19

mean, it was just, like, it was extremely surreal.

23:22

Garith Bayl walking around, like, Michael I

23:24

talked to Michael Pena a little bit he did

23:26

not seem that very interested in

23:27

talking. Talk to Jason Bateman for a little while.

23:30

He was familiar with the NOLING UphOD, which

23:32

was great. Bateman in our net golf

23:34

pod would be would I keep saying it. But if you

23:36

if you listen to their Smart List podcast, I they

23:39

talk about golf like ninety percent of the

23:40

time. They're obsessed.

23:42

I tracked down their agents' info to make

23:44

it happen. So we're we're we're it's a working

23:47

working vacation for me this past week, but

23:49

If if you're listening, Jason and Will

23:52

join the nest, please love to

23:54

have you at TV club to show up. Love

23:56

to have you on the message board. Whatever

23:58

again. Before we get to next question, Katie, I

24:00

gotta say, I let my boop die this week, and

24:02

I'm actually glad because I was nervous about what

24:04

it was gonna show in terms of what my heart rate

24:06

got up

24:06

to. A few different times. But if you're not familiar

24:08

with whoop, it is the personalized digital fitness and

24:10

health coach, an official fitness wearable

24:13

of the PGA and LPGA Tourist

24:15

TC is laughing at this amazing

24:16

transition. Do it too. Oh, look,

24:19

you doing it. The new four point o is

24:21

smarter, smaller, and designed with biometric

24:23

tracking, including skin temperature, blood

24:25

oxygen, and more. It'll tell you,

24:28

first of all, I am exhausted from all this.

24:30

I totally understand how WHOOP can be

24:32

extremely beneficial to these actual real professional

24:34

athletes that have to do this every week and have to monitor

24:36

their sleep and figure out how to peak and when they're working

24:38

out and all this stuff. I've different perspective on

24:41

that. It's got a smart alarm. helps you wake up

24:43

to feel refreshed, ready to take on the day. It helps

24:45

you just make better decisions and the waterproof

24:47

device is free when you sign up for a WHOOP

24:49

four point o membership. And if you are a member, if

24:51

you have six months left of membership on your account,

24:53

you can upgrade now and get the four point o for free

24:55

and WHOOP is offering fifteen percent off when you use code

24:58

NLU fifteen at checkout. Go to WHOOP dot

25:00

com, WH00P dot com, enter

25:02

NLU fifteen at checkout to save

25:04

fifteen

25:05

percent. I'm ready for your

25:07

next question, KBB. I feel like

25:09

saw that that the spyglass and

25:11

Montery are sort of a black box. Because they don't really

25:13

end up on TV much. So tell me a little bit

25:15

about which course you enjoyed.

25:18

What's I know you played Pebble Way back in the day when

25:20

you were in that in your NLU period, you

25:22

were just dressed all blue. So

25:24

I believe we're still being humble as you're familiar

25:26

with what what's What's up with spy

25:28

glass? Tell me in in Monterrey. So we

25:30

started it on spy glass number one. That

25:32

was our first round. Spy glass is

25:35

championship golf. It is deep

25:37

bunkers, greens that repel

25:40

insanely firm when we played it on Thursday.

25:42

And we'll get to some setup stuff, and we'll get

25:44

to the disaster that was the

25:46

delays that happened on Saturday, but could

25:48

not believe with all I'd heard come into this was how

25:50

much rain the West Coast has gotten, especially

25:52

this part of the world. We all saw the video

25:55

of the fourteenth hall of the Dunes course at Monterrey Peninsula

25:57

getting basically swept away by the waves that

25:59

came in, the torrential downpours they

26:01

had. But wholly crap was it firm

26:03

and also like a course that's not really designed

26:06

for firm greens. Like, these dudes are hitting

26:08

five irons and you can't run it up. The

26:10

greens are all perched up with deep bunkers, and

26:12

you just got to play it like for I saw Harry

26:15

Higgs as catty Alex. I was like, how

26:17

was spies? Like, by the front number all day. You

26:19

just gotta play the front number, and it was freaking

26:21

hard. Like, I probably played my best

26:23

round there and that was my highest score. Just

26:26

because, like, it was a mistake you

26:28

made, put you in horrible spot. If you were

26:30

above the hole, you couldn't get it up and down. I had

26:32

almost drove the fourth green

26:33

there. And, like, I had

26:36

an impossible trip. Like, literally, I could not get it close and

26:38

was not even in a bad

26:38

place. The crazy green like, the crazy narrow

26:41

green. Right? The serpentine snake.

26:43

Yeah. They that that's very skinny green, but I was,

26:45

like, barely too far. And all

26:47

the slopes were gonna feed my ball into the left, rough,

26:49

no matter what happened. And it was just, like, it

26:51

was a chest match and watching the

26:54

when we played it on Thursday, that was the only course

26:56

that was over par of the three. And it was

26:58

it was very clearly why. It was like, not

27:00

quite my cup of tea. Like, it wasn't, you know,

27:03

it it just didn't it it serves a tournament

27:05

purpose. Like, you could have a full seventy

27:07

two whole tournament on that golf a hundred percent.

27:09

And it was really difficult. It was kinda

27:11

turned over to Monterrey Prudential the next day. It was, like,

27:14

seeing the very first screen I saw, which is the tenth

27:16

screen. It was, like, yep. This is my tempo. Like,

27:18

there is a bunch of stuff like helping this ball

27:20

onto the green and a bunch of shots I really

27:22

wanted to hit instead of shots that like made

27:24

my butt hole pucker a little bit. And for

27:26

that reason, like, MPCC was the

27:28

short course was way, way, way up on the list

27:30

for me. And spy was just kinda like very

27:33

fazio, Robert Trent Jones, like

27:35

That was like Robert Trent Jones masterpiece.

27:38

Opus. Yeah. I mean, There's some awesome holes.

27:40

There's some really good Soly's, some really cool

27:42

views, some really fun shots, but there's also

27:44

some stuff that I was just like, that's just not

27:46

my tempo. But again, it serves a very strong purpose

27:49

in terms of

27:49

Feel like it's a waste of, like,

27:52

great land? Or is it,

27:54

like, don't

27:54

credit to the peninsula? I

27:56

would say the best holes, the most

27:58

fun holes were, like, the best use of the land, like,

28:00

two, three like, one is awesome. Two

28:02

is cool. Three, the par three down the hill

28:04

with a credible views in the sand dunes. Four

28:07

is actually really cool. Five was a

28:09

cool par three, and then six goes back up

28:11

into the forest. From there, it's like not

28:13

incredible land. Like, you get a couple cool views

28:15

throughout there, but it's some good

28:17

golf balls, but not like insanely no.

28:19

I would not call it a waste. It's just you know,

28:21

it's just like I said, there's hard championship golf,

28:23

and the rough was not that bad this

28:25

week. But, man, just, like, missing

28:27

on the wrong side was, like, extreme extreme

28:29

punishment. Alright. So I was gonna feel a little

28:31

bit like that a meme where Obama

28:33

is putting the metal on himself, but I

28:35

would like you to tell us what your best shot

28:37

of the

28:39

the weekend was what what you will dine

28:41

out on for many years ago. Gosh. I have

28:43

I have a list of them if you're ready. I'm not allowed to

28:45

do it. Let's do it. You'll indulge me, but

28:47

I actually played really well at spy

28:49

and listen, this is this is

28:51

one of many very punchable statements

28:53

I'm gonna make. On the courses podcast, but

28:56

I played horrific at Cypress on Tuesday

28:58

and played a practice around on Wednesday at pebble

29:01

that if I had to, like, finish out, I would not have broke

29:03

ninety. Like, it was the wind was blowing, the greens

29:05

were firm, and I all of a sudden got terrified.

29:07

I was like, oh my god. I'm a Florida

29:09

golfer. I don't belong out here. I'm gonna

29:11

get so exposed. This is gonna go very poorly.

29:13

I gotta give a shout to JJ, my guy

29:15

from titles. He brought the track man out to the

29:17

range. His idea, not mine, by the way. Got

29:19

me dialed in my ball position, got me fixed.

29:22

It was a ball

29:22

position. Nice.

29:24

Yeah. I was getting too far back in my stance.

29:26

I was coming in.

29:27

It was what? The same thing was at the NIT. So Steve's,

29:29

you know, when I was carrying it for you.

29:31

So

29:32

it's too far forward that day. So yeah. You gotta

29:34

be too far back out. And I I just

29:36

I don't know what it was. On me. It was a ProAm

29:39

the first tee. So, again, huge crowd

29:41

out on one. wasn't really that nervous. Like,

29:43

built tee's off first. I gotta I gotta

29:45

say I got a great one liner in. I didn't go back

29:47

for it. I could have done it on every whole. But,

29:50

you know, Bill t's off. Everyone goes nuts and

29:52

huge crowd out there and they introduced me and everyone's

29:54

like, yeah. Okay. Who's this guy? And I nailed

29:56

the joke. Absolutely nailed it, said, I wanna

29:59

thank everybody for coming out and watching me play

30:01

today. It was perfect golf humor. Everybody

30:03

laughed. Everybody wrote went home and told their families

30:05

about that joke and got

30:07

that

30:08

in. But, like, I just, like, wasn't really that nervous,

30:10

and I just came out and was striping it. I birdied.

30:13

You're

30:13

going on the leaderboard. You're going on NLU

30:15

Birdie. You're going on the scoreboard.

30:18

Ten, eleven, and fourteen on spy.

30:20

And I felt extremely good about my

30:22

contributions there, but pebble

30:24

on Saturday. So we had just hard

30:26

ass conditions, Thursday and Friday, different conditions,

30:29

but hard in the two days. In

30:31

pebble, we came out, second group off,

30:33

and it was so calm. The greens were

30:35

so perfect. No no

30:37

issues at all. And it was just,

30:39

like, how fast I was able, like, pin my

30:42

ears back and go after pebble. It

30:44

was so much

30:46

fun. So much fun. Like, fire in

30:48

a wedge into four, hit a nine hundred

30:50

to five, it just was all over it, and then we got to

30:52

eight. Hit a great four iron off the

30:54

tee and you get to hit this six iron shot with

30:56

like a gallery watching over the chasm

30:59

and I hit it right to the fat part of the green.

31:01

Almost birdied. That went birdied nine birdie

31:04

ten. Lip to five foot birdie on eleven.

31:06

I was just vibing my face off at that

31:08

point. Do it too. And then

31:11

we got delayed so we we we got the seventeen

31:13

t when we got delayed, and we had to come back

31:15

out this morning and play that. I,

31:17

you know, hit a good or I played seventeen in the rain

31:19

and then it started hailing. That's a tough

31:21

one to play for your first

31:23

Oh, my god. Oh, my

31:25

god. Dude, I just had

31:26

one iron, like, necklace.

31:28

It was dude, the the it was so hard

31:30

to play golf in these conditions.

31:32

It's a one higher than what what hopped off the OB

31:34

stick. Correct. It

31:37

just, you know, putting layers on taking layers

31:39

off, all this stuff, blah blah blah. It was

31:41

it was a nightmare and so whatever

31:43

made par on seventeen and then we had to

31:45

wait like a forty five minutes so before we could tee

31:47

off on eighteen because the hale and the squeegee and

31:49

all that stuff. And I it was so

31:51

cold and we're back into the wind. And

31:54

my heart just pumping on AT and T. Like, this is

31:56

like, this is your shot, man. Like, this is it. This is one chance

31:58

you're gonna get to play this whole. You're playing with Bill fucking Murray

32:00

for you know, you get up there. And

32:03

I hit a nice draw around,

32:05

you know, over the tree, gets into fairway,

32:07

and I already know

32:09

the issue we're about to have, which is I have hit

32:11

two three Woods in this tournament. I have topped them both.

32:14

It has gone very poorly. It's the club I'm least comfortable

32:16

with right now. I get up there. My ball

32:18

is two forty two out dead into the wind and

32:20

the cold. Stroud my hype man

32:22

just like it's dead red three wood as hard as you can

32:24

hit

32:24

it. Let's go. Let's go, man. I'm,

32:26

like, go down the energy brother.

32:28

Up top my last two, like, this is gonna

32:30

go very poorly. You

32:31

understand? In the in the NIT, I had this with

32:33

KBV, and I hit it, like, a foot fat. It

32:35

was And

32:40

I just, like, reared back and fired

32:42

a three wood that started so far

32:45

right and it just swept and

32:47

it hooked and it hooked and it hooked and

32:49

it landed right in front of the green and rolled

32:51

up onto the green. Like, it was max out. It was a my

32:54

two sixty five shot, and it maybe went two

32:56

thirty. And it rolled right up

32:58

onto the green. And I just, like,

33:00

this enormous smile on my

33:02

face and walked up the I I

33:04

ended up leaving the Eagle Putt short, which hurt

33:06

but made the birdie and walked up. I mean,

33:09

having my dad on the bag and, like, making that

33:11

walk up eighteen. Like like, it's truly,

33:13

like, I don't know if I'll ever have an

33:15

opportunity like that in my life ever to

33:17

do any of that. Like, hit a shot hit a shot eighteen

33:19

of pebble with a gallery, like, playing with Bill Murray,

33:21

with my dad on the bag, and, like, not

33:24

to get too sappy,

33:25

but, like, my dad, my grandfather passed

33:27

away a month ago, and it's my dad's

33:29

dad. And it

33:31

it's hard to, like, watch your dad go through that,

33:33

a parent, like, go through that. And one thing

33:36

he reflected on was he

33:38

he my dad retired about four years ago, and he

33:40

said in the last, you know, four years of his

33:42

dad's life, he got to do a lot of stuff with him. And

33:44

he was so thankful that he was able to retire

33:46

and do that. He would have never done it otherwise. And

33:48

it just made me think about, like, I

33:50

need to continue to do things with my dad. And

33:52

he was the one that introduced me to golf

33:54

and we got to make

33:56

a make

33:59

make a walk up eighteen together. It it was

34:02

it was it was, like, the coolest

34:04

freaking experience in my life, I think.

34:06

And it I just love this game

34:08

so much. I love him so much. And

34:11

I'm just I don't know, man. It was it was a really

34:13

freaking cool moment and I'll have that forever.

34:16

Did you

34:16

run into Macklemore ever?

34:23

God.

34:23

I was hoping you could come up and

34:24

something bring us back to Levity.

34:26

You too. I was gonna make a joke about the franchise,

34:29

like, you know, dumping my clubs out or something

34:31

like that. Like like how that how

34:33

that moment's not possible for

34:34

me. If my dad's on the bag, you

34:37

find some way to fucking love But Todd,

34:39

how much long do you think this is gonna take, man? We got

34:41

a reservation this afternoon. How are you doing?

34:44

I'm gonna skip this last couple.

34:47

But no, I'm I'm like, I was a great

34:50

four ball partner this week. III you

34:52

know, people are like, dude, you must have twenty five hundred

34:54

par. It's no. How four ball works? Like,

34:56

Chris and I covered each other up really or

34:59

didn't cover each other up. You know, we hammered it

35:01

really, really well. And I

35:03

played good golf when I needed needed to. If I'd have had

35:05

beside my own card, it wouldn't have been the prettiest. I think

35:07

I shot seventy four, seventy three, seventy

35:09

one, which I was pretty proud of considering all

35:11

the conditions, but it wasn't like just blitzed the

35:13

whole thing. But made like ten birdies and

35:15

we just had so much fun. It was it's just really

35:18

fun to execute shots. With a lot of people

35:20

watching and some pressure on you. Like, it you

35:22

know, I don't know. It was was just a total,

35:24

total blast and a thrill. Alright.

35:27

That's all I got. What a what a great thing we

35:29

got. The humor we got, pathos, we got

35:32

all of

35:32

it. It's like It's like a novel.

35:34

I'm just looking to see you didn't meet meet

35:36

Macklemore? I

35:37

did not meet Macklemore, unfortunately. I met I

35:39

spent some time with Charles Kelly from Lady a.

35:41

And of course, Ben Rex, like you said, no, fake celebrity

35:44

and School Boy Q. Did not

35:46

meet School Boy Q. But another shout out I gotta

35:48

give was, like, the Tuesday, like, the pairings

35:50

party, there was a ton of players there,

35:52

and I asked one of them. I was like, what do they, like, what do they

35:54

pay you guys to be here? What's the arrangement here? And he's

35:56

like, like, no. We don't we don't get

35:58

paid for this. Like, we just, you know, really fun.

36:00

Like free food, free

36:01

booze, and there's a lot of music. Like We're

36:03

all we're all in the Korn Ferry Tour last

36:05

year. Yeah. Exactly. I gotta

36:07

say it's like nothing few things give me

36:09

more anxiety than seeing you hit that shot

36:11

at Nancy's house into

36:13

his part that you because all I could think of myself

36:15

as like, if I had that, it's shot

36:18

some day, Jim, if you're listening, I

36:20

I would blade it off his house. Like, I would just

36:22

absolutely, like, skull it sideways right

36:24

off the

36:25

window. They're foam golf balls. Helps a lot.

36:27

They're like, it's almost golf balls or whatever

36:29

it is. So yeah. Again, the top off of ridiculous

36:31

week, like Jim invited us over to

36:33

his house, my wife, and my dad as well

36:35

just like the three of us gave us, like, we hit Ball's

36:37

in his backyard, and we drank drank

36:40

his wine out of master's glasses. It was, like, I don't

36:42

know how I don't know how that I get

36:44

to do this stuff, but, like, I'm at least III

36:47

think I'm at least appreciative of all this

36:49

stuff and it's incredibly cool and

36:51

it, like, all combined into one week and

36:54

almost made a hole in one at Nance's, which would have been which

36:56

would have been

36:57

sick. What

36:57

was his call? He said he he that's

37:00

that's where I got the it shot of his

37:02

life here, Donnie, as it was on his way to going

37:04

in. Like, he was he was he was he was

37:05

You're like,

37:06

wait. No. I don't

37:06

think Donnie likes this.

37:08

No. It doesn't like me. Do you see Growlr

37:10

in speed at all? Oh, yeah. So I felt as

37:12

I was getting ready to leave, that I'd speed comes up and

37:14

task me. He's like, ever seen anybody shoot fifty nine in

37:16

the wind. I was like, who did that? He goes, I'm

37:18

about to see you later. And went out and

37:21

married or he did not shoot fifty nine percent of

37:23

that. But I appreciated that of that confidence.

37:25

None of trucks parked

37:26

out there were able to bag it off of

37:28

saw them that they were getting after it.

37:30

It was that's another thing, though. Like,

37:32

he's he's he's he's shot

37:34

thirty nine on his on his own side.

37:37

We brought

37:40

But so, again,

37:42

I'm swept up in the the recency bias

37:45

of the on-site experience, but walking around

37:47

I was never like, oh, dude. Like, I wish

37:49

that that was John Rama. I wish Mark Powell

37:51

was here. Or guess in

37:53

person, My reaction to

37:55

this is, you know, maybe in previous

37:57

years when it was super confusing

38:00

as to what our real p j tour events and what are

38:02

not, it was like, dude, what is this event?

38:04

And now it's like, well, wait a second here. If we're gonna

38:06

clearly call out what is upper tier and what

38:08

is lower tier, like, it's very clear

38:11

what this one is. And I think as long as that

38:13

is, like, understood. I don't know what like,

38:15

we at the in the same voice, you know, and

38:17

I've complained about this event in the past, but now it's,

38:19

like, crystallizing between the same voice, I've been, like, you

38:21

know, this field sucks like this this event needs,

38:24

like, an update of some kind. Yet now it's like,

38:26

wait a second. We're also saying every

38:28

week doesn't need to be peak. Like, the

38:30

other events I've need to stand

38:31

out, and this just, like, very clearly fits into a

38:33

different category for me. So I think the only

38:35

pushback, I I totally agree with that. And

38:38

was kinda trying to come to terms with little bit of that

38:40

myself this week. The only pushback

38:42

I would have to that is that it feels

38:45

a little bit defeatist to have that attitude

38:47

when we're talking

38:48

about, like, pebble fucking beach.

38:50

You know what I mean? Where

38:51

it's, like, your best

38:52

course on the whole calendar? Like, no. I just want,

38:54

like, everything you said is totally valid,

38:56

solid, and maybe this doesn't need to be any more than it

38:58

is or But, like, maybe

39:01

you move this event to somewhere else. And

39:03

we have a a real tournament,

39:04

like, at Pebble Beach.

39:05

Oh, alright. So hold on. So so I think so

39:08

Joel Beale had a really really good article this week

39:10

in Golf Digest. Actually yesterday, basically

39:13

laying out the same things. Like you said, this is one of

39:15

the weakest fields in recent memory. Speed,

39:17

Hovland, Fitzpatrick are playing,

39:20

Otherwise, they've got, I think,

39:22

there's seven of the top fifty. Yeah. There's twenty

39:24

one of the top one hundred and

39:27

have more more than half the field is ranked

39:29

outside the top three which is tough.

39:31

And there's some quotes in there from

39:34

the tournament of like, hey, we're not changing. Like,

39:36

this is our format. We're sticking with it.

39:38

We like, you know, we like the time slot. Like,

39:40

yeah, you could move us a week, you know,

39:42

in either direction. You could switch us with Tory,

39:45

all that stuff. I totally get all that.

39:47

Speeth also had a really like, who Speeth, who's

39:49

contractually obligated to

39:51

play this event, had a really, really good

39:53

point too. He's like, hey, like, at some point,

39:56

wouldn't it be great to have the

39:58

best players in the world? Like, if if this

40:00

week was wrong, and Rory who

40:02

are both, like, these two charging

40:05

lions at each other, like, just, you

40:07

know, getting ready to, like, do

40:09

battle on eight, nine, you

40:11

know, coming down the stretch, sixteen, seventeen,

40:14

eighteen at pebble, like, that would be freaking

40:16

awesome. And I feel like you can have the best of both

40:18

worlds. You could go to Pebble twice a year. That's

40:20

where I landed. It's it's it's it's either, like,

40:23

play the ProAm in the fall, like, do that this

40:25

in the senior event back to back weeks or something like

40:27

that and do a big a big dick

40:29

event, if you will.

40:30

Garrett Eric Morrison was throwing out the tour championship.

40:32

Like, he NLU doing the tour championship. The pebble would

40:34

be Oh my god.

40:35

A firmer firmer drier

40:37

pebble, like, for these guys would be

40:40

unbelievable. I was going through the same

40:42

like, exercise at this week of, like, how do this

40:45

this event still makes sense to me though again

40:47

if, like, the local thing and the tradition

40:49

of this thing is very real. And, like,

40:51

pebble is a part of that. Right? Yet

40:53

I have all often felt when a lot of listeners

40:56

listen to this, like, I've watched it on TV

40:58

and just wonder, like, why can't I be more entertained

41:00

by this event? And it's just

41:02

it's just stuck. Right? It's like to an

41:05

antiquated thing moving NLU, like, the

41:07

TV era of golf. And

41:09

I don't know if there is, like, an easy answer

41:11

to it. If I would go two back back

41:13

back weeks could work too. Like, do, like, do, like, you

41:16

know, the lower tier event first? Give

41:18

all the top guys the week off. And then, lower tier

41:20

guys can play their way into the upper event, and you

41:22

go back to back weeks at at pebble and

41:24

spy. Something like that. Maybe you don't play in a

41:27

PCC in that one because three courses adds --

41:28

Yeah. -- so

41:29

many freaking variables that are a nightmare. And

41:31

I don't know. I I it's it's

41:33

stuck. They've solved some of the entertainment

41:35

stuff, I think, where, like,

41:37

hats off to CBS, and we'll get to the action

41:40

from today. But CBS was Like,

41:42

they've re they've reimagined how they

41:44

cover this event and think hats off

41:46

to them. Like, I'm I sound like a complete

41:48

dick rider right now, but, like, That was

41:50

that was probably one of the most enjoyable

41:53

Sunday afternoons slash evenings

41:55

of watching golf. I've had in, like, the last

41:58

five years. It was and, like, it didn't

42:00

matter who was playing, who was on the

42:02

screen, like -- Right. -- it was just it was,

42:04

like, watching the best players in the or, like, you

42:06

know, like, watching some of the top

42:08

three hundred players in the world play

42:10

some of the coolest golf holes in the world.

42:12

Also fun when when the CBS camera

42:14

operators just get to get to cook

42:16

out there. Yeah. When they get

42:19

good when they get good

42:20

light, good angles, and they're like, setting

42:22

up. It was yeah. It turns into, like, an art

42:24

piece. It's awesome. I'll also say, like,

42:26

some if if you let's say nothing

42:28

is gonna change, it's gonna be the same. Some

42:31

weeks the competition can be the

42:33

star, the players, and some weeks

42:35

the course can sort of be what carries

42:37

it. And look, do I think

42:40

it's it's fun to see Peter Melanati

42:42

out there and, you know, as it is

42:44

to be seen John No. But

42:46

also I still really like watching

42:48

Peddle's. And this is not gonna be enough

42:50

fun

42:50

for He's also fun

42:51

to watch Peter hit it in some of those bunkers today.

42:54

And then, you know, get out of no, like,

42:56

get out of jail from from right of

42:58

one or, you know, I mean,

43:00

some truly outrageously bad drives

43:02

from him. I I think else as

43:04

well is just like the like,

43:08

it kind of marks and Joel talked about this

43:10

in his article as well. Like, how The

43:13

nature of the PJ Tour has changed. Like, this

43:15

used to be a place for guys

43:17

to network and line up sponsorship

43:20

deals. He he called out Phil Mickelson

43:22

and Paul Casey, in particular, who were like, yeah, we

43:24

don't miss this place because, like, we just we

43:26

straight up, like, we play this about every year

43:28

because we are lining up endorsement deals

43:31

or, you know, investment things

43:33

or whatever. And it seems like a lot of the

43:35

guys, you know, a, the money's gotten so

43:37

much bigger that those guys don't necessarily need

43:39

to do that. Everything runs through the agent.

43:41

These guys are more disconnected. And I feel like,

43:43

don't know. Like, I guess that's part of

43:45

me sad. Because I feel like like

43:48

like a guy like Keith Mitchell feels like

43:50

he's not gonna miss this event

43:51

because, you know, let's

43:53

sort of end of the year. It's

43:54

just the biggest event of the year. Keith

43:56

Keith would, you know, like, whether he gets to top

43:58

five in the world, he's still gonna keep playing this event

44:00

because he gives a shit about that stuff

44:02

and he likes you

44:04

know, he likes the hobnobbing and he likes all

44:06

that stuff. He like, he just gives a shit about people.

44:08

Right? You had a you had a great great

44:10

point on Keith. TC real quick that

44:12

you said I I believe your quote was his entire

44:14

aesthetic is built around

44:17

being able to show it off on a gloomy day on

44:19

the the Monterrey Pinet or sunny day on the

44:21

Monterrey

44:22

Peninsula. That the whole look the

44:24

whole look is built for the Monterrey Peninsula. It

44:26

it was good to see him thriving out there this week.

44:28

I'll say this event too is, like, very

44:30

much it's not for Colin Morikawa.

44:33

Like, it's not for Maxoma. Like, the people

44:35

that take their craft incredibly seriously. It

44:37

is for people, like, they're there to have a good time. Like,

44:39

those guys are there to have a enjoyable week

44:41

on the road. Like Joel Damon was, like,

44:43

in the Players Village, like, pounding guineces

44:46

after the round during rain delays and was

44:48

there to, like, enjoy himself. Right? And

44:50

there is a lot more to life than golf and your

44:52

job and a lot of the ProAm

44:54

enjoy like Ruben elbows with the celebrities

44:56

that are there and just the concerts

44:58

that happen at night and meeting people on the Montery

45:01

Peninsula and going to cool dinners and lunch,

45:03

like, they're playing Cypress point, like, there

45:05

was so much fun stuff going on all around

45:07

this tournament. I get that again, I go back to, like,

45:09

at times, it didn't feel like a PJ Tour of it. Like, it really

45:11

didn't. Like, you kind of forget that they're know,

45:13

I'm I'm sitting around I'm sitting around updating

45:15

Hank Labiodo on my my status on the leader

45:17

board the AM

45:18

side. I'm like, oh, yeah. How are you doing? He's like, hey. I'm in fifth

45:20

place.

45:21

I was was the first round leader.

45:25

My one wish though, I think, and all that

45:27

is, like, this is I think

45:29

a good example of I wish that some athletes

45:32

had a better appreciation for the

45:34

history that came before them. Right? So

45:36

if if Bing Crosby isn't out there,

45:38

like, charming people and,

45:40

you know, bringing Frank's Notcher around and,

45:43

you know, putting on a sort of show

45:45

The p j tour might not exist. It might

45:47

look a very different sort of thing

45:50

if if the, you know,

45:52

fifties and sixties were, like, basically,

45:54

we'll give you shit about golf. Let's let's have

45:56

more interest in the NBA or whatever.

45:59

So I kinda just wish that

46:01

some of the people who are making more money

46:03

than they could ever spend generationally would

46:05

sort of step back and say, you know what? Like,

46:07

I get it. I this is kind of annoying. It's a

46:09

nuisance. But I wouldn't

46:11

be doing what I was doing. I wouldn't be able to

46:13

just write checks for cash

46:16

for a house if the

46:18

pebble you know, if the clam the Crosby

46:20

clam bake hadn't sort of built the foundation

46:22

for who I am at my

46:24

league, my professional sort

46:26

of status. And I don't think

46:28

a lot of people just have the sort

46:30

of, like, grasp of of what this

46:33

tournament meant to the PGA Tour in

46:35

its

46:35

growth. Oh, like, what's the I guess, That

46:38

kinda leads me to my question of, like, what's

46:40

the future look like as far as

46:41

how, like, how can you work within that box

46:44

to improve it? Like like, why is

46:46

JR Smith not in the field?

46:48

Right? Like, why is you know, like, I shit. I

46:50

mean, Trevor Lawrence, like, explaining golf. Like, I know he

46:52

said the like, I don't even know what fuck

46:54

the ProAm bowl is at this point, but, like, he's there

46:56

this week, like, final. Watson Trevor Lawrence,

46:58

they're like, lean more in because CBS is

47:00

deep into the

47:01

NFL, lean more

47:03

into that. Like, figure out how to get figured

47:05

Josh Allen was a nice Josh Allen

47:08

was was a big presence. He can swing

47:10

it. I got a nice golf swing. But, like, I think

47:12

that's yeah. More more present athletes

47:14

can only help this thing.

47:16

Oh, yeah. Musicians and, you

47:18

know, actors and all that. It's like, you know, and

47:21

I know we get back to, like, you know, culture

47:23

is fragmented and everything as well. But, like,

47:25

you know, Kenny G and

47:28

I like, I'm not sure, you know, I'm sure, like,

47:30

There's there's plenty of dudes that play golf on

47:32

the

47:32

road. Right? There's plenty of

47:34

musicians out there that play golf on the road.

47:36

Let's find some more of those. Charles Martin would be a

47:38

great addition to that. Well, tell me if I'm wrong, though.

47:41

It it feels like it has turned over, like, in

47:43

recent years. Like, I don't think Gary Meel like

47:45

everyone's favorite, Gary Mule deer is in this

47:47

or, you know, Kenny G, I don't

47:49

think play will play as playing in it this year. Right? And

47:51

they do have more don't know. It seems to be a conscious

47:54

thing for them to get more younger people in it and

47:56

and rotate people in and and whatnot. But

47:58

Was Lara's the cable guy there? I

48:00

did not see Lars. I will say though,

48:02

like, an incredible, like, up close

48:05

seeing the logistical operation

48:07

that is this tournament with, like, almost certainly

48:10

weather delays. Holy shit

48:12

getting, what's a hundred and fifty six times

48:14

two, golfers, to their holes

48:17

across fifty four winding

48:20

roads through mountains and stuff like that, and their

48:22

player guess, and their catties. Was

48:24

one of the most impressive, logistical

48:26

operations I've ever seen. And I

48:28

it it can also speak to how things

48:31

went very wrong for the PJT or

48:33

on

48:33

Saturday, which I don't know if that's the next topic

48:35

we have for today, but I know we we need

48:37

to talk about that. I think we should get into it.

48:39

I mean, I I don't know that it's really that valuable

48:42

to speak to, like who might win or who might not,

48:44

you know, I think the team

48:46

rose situation as we're we're monitoring it.

48:48

Yeah. But But, Tran,

48:50

I think we should point it to you, you know, you had

48:52

some frustrations with the the

48:55

logistics in a way that sort of

48:57

the decisions were made to call things off. I'm gonna I'm gonna

48:59

turn it over to you, and I think just tell

49:01

us what's your your main beef was with

49:04

Yeah. I I don't know. It just I mean, granted,

49:06

like, Sorry, you can speak to this. It seemed

49:08

like conditions are drastically

49:11

different in each course.

49:13

Right. It can be. It can be. Yeah.

49:15

From is it

49:16

micro climates over here in T. C.

49:19

Trying to lead into that. You don't

49:21

you don't like the weather, wait five minute situation.

49:24

Because we we watch that play out over the final

49:26

hour on Sunday of, like, a sideways

49:28

sleep as Malnati and Justin

49:31

Rose were playing the a four and then, like, perfectly

49:33

sunny five minutes later. And so spreading

49:35

that out over over three golf

49:37

courses, which means fifty four different halls

49:40

means, yes, you're gonna have, like, very much when

49:42

when they called play, on

49:44

Saturday. I was very much in a situation where I'm like,

49:46

dude, it's like five miles an hour here. And

49:48

they're like, no no balls are blowing off the greens and blowing

49:50

backwards at Montery Peninsula right

49:52

now. I was like, oh, shit. Like, I think

49:54

there is like, that's just something that you can't

49:56

I don't know how you plan for that over fifty four

49:58

holes. I think there are some things you can do, but

50:01

they made there were some mistakes made. There were some

50:03

mistakes made that this was an avoidable

50:05

situation for sure. Yet it's also, like,

50:08

dude, it is really freaking hard to get,

50:10

like, a challenge right for the best players

50:12

in the world when they can do whatever the hell

50:14

they want with the golf ball. And to be

50:16

able to adjust to a changing forecast that

50:18

through a knee buckling twelve to six

50:20

curve ball at the Tour. It's just like

50:23

rollback the ball would be gonna

50:25

talk about this for a long time, and it ends up at rollback

50:27

ball for

50:27

me. But yes, there's some mistakes that were made.

50:30

Like, I just don't understand how that,

50:32

like, you're playing links like seaside

50:34

golf. Right? Like

50:37

like at pebble, the greens are never crazy

50:39

fast. Why are the greens that fast at Monterrey

50:41

Peninsula a? Like, why do you need

50:43

that? B? You play on these courses

50:46

every you know, you switch between dunes

50:48

and shore. I mean, the fucking name of the course

50:50

is the shore course. Like, it's you're gonna have

50:52

and, like, you're you're sitting next to the

50:54

biggest body of water in the world in

50:57

early February. Like, of course, you're gonna

50:59

have some shit that, like, pops up

51:01

unprompted. In the

51:03

forecast. Like, even if it's a twenty

51:05

four forty eight, you know, even if it's

51:07

a two hour thing, I'm like, oh, shit.

51:09

We didn't see that in our forecast. And

51:12

then b, like like, I feel like

51:14

you're using all these same pins pretty

51:16

much every year. Right? Like like like that

51:19

pin on nine. They use that pin every time

51:21

they play the dude the shore course.

51:23

And that is where we can skip right

51:25

to this, right, of for those that don't know. When you

51:27

have a three course up, everyone plays, you

51:29

know, you play one course, Thursday, one course, Friday, one

51:32

course, Saturday. They keep the pins in

51:34

the same spot or same general area

51:36

on every whole so that all the players play the

51:38

same golf course. They move at foot or, you

51:40

know, here and there, whatever, but everyone plays the same

51:42

pins. And so

51:44

if they wake up, you know, if they knowing

51:47

going into Saturday, if they know winds are gonna get

51:49

crazy, they can set up golf course

51:51

to say like, okay, this part of the green's unusable.

51:53

We need the safest possible spot on

51:55

nine green. Don't care about the scoring average.

51:57

Wins are gonna be crazy anyways. Let's find the safest

52:00

spot. But when you've put it in a pretty challenging

52:02

spot on Thursday, you cannot move

52:04

it come Saturday. That is their rule or

52:06

approach. Unless Patrick Reade's coming through,

52:08

then they move it. I would

52:11

say they like, Yes. Mistakes

52:13

made in the green speed. Green speeds too fast. Green speeds

52:15

are too fast in general. I I think in

52:17

in all of golf. I'm I'm weighed down with that

52:19

plan. It's

52:19

like the one week where it's like, who gives you shit? It's

52:21

a pro. Correct.

52:22

Like, they don't need to be this fast.

52:24

Let's get guys through the pace of plays

52:26

outrageous anyway. Right? Exactly. So

52:29

but would say is, listen. Is

52:31

better to have had a few groups play

52:34

different pin positions on a couple

52:36

holes and be able to finish on Sunday

52:38

than with their current situation. Right? And I don't

52:40

know whether it's a hard and fast rule they have of, like,

52:42

this is how the tournament has to be run.

52:44

You are playing these holes in such drastically

52:47

different conditions anyways that I mean,

52:49

when I played Pebble Beach on Saturday morning,

52:51

it was pin your ears back and go

52:53

do whatever the hell you wanted. It was

52:55

awesome. It was really

52:56

fun. And when I played Monterrey Peninsula, it

52:58

was raining sideways and I was wearing double

53:00

rain gloves. So it's -- That's the

53:02

easiest course. -- so you should be able to, like,

53:04

you know, guys are getting punished

53:07

on a day like there where, like, they can't be making

53:09

birdies when -- Yeah. -- and I'm saying, like,

53:11

the variables are so different when you

53:13

go play that ninth hole at Monterrey Peninsula anyways,

53:16

move the pin. And if you gotta move a pin from an

53:18

easier spot to a harder spot on a more secluded

53:21

hole, do that too to balance it out. That's fine.

53:23

Like this is a very imperfect

53:25

competition with all the variables of the draw

53:27

and everything going. And there's there's fucking amateurs

53:29

putting out like before you hit your putt and

53:31

you can learn from amateur putts out

53:33

there. Like, it's just it's a it's a it's

53:35

a

53:36

Let's just spend the regular hundred

53:38

percent policies. Right? And

53:40

so I don't think anyone would have complained

53:42

about a few pins moving. Like, oh my oh, yeah. But they got

53:45

to play the easy pin on

53:46

nine. It's like,

53:46

no. None of those would have complained. Yeah.

53:48

They would have they would have complained. Right? Love it.

53:50

I I think it's a joke of a

53:52

joke of a ping Trond. The

53:54

middle of the ring is Absolutely. There was

53:56

so much complaining going on this week.

53:58

All from guys, it should be extremely thrilled to be

54:00

playing a PGA tour events. But I that

54:02

that's where I think they pinned themselves into a corner this

54:05

week. And it sucked like it I

54:07

know people wanna tune in on Saturday and watch pebble

54:09

and, like, not get to play sucked ass. Like,

54:11

it it was playable at pebble. I mean, it would've

54:13

been tough I would have to play

54:14

seventeen, eighteen. Which I think that's what everybody

54:16

was excited for. Right? It's like to see these

54:18

guys get actually challenged, and then

54:20

like, going back to the micro climates thing, it's

54:22

like, if there is my or really if

54:24

there are micro climates, then the

54:27

conditions are radically different in each golf course

54:29

anyway.

54:29

What does it matter that Set them up for what they

54:31

are. Yeah. And

54:33

and and then it's, like, just, you know,

54:35

like, I know next week's elevated that

54:37

complicates matters even or designated. I'm

54:40

sorry. That that complicates matters even

54:42

more to where it's, like, at some point, why don't

54:44

you just just try to get as many

54:46

people done on each golf course as you can

54:48

and then figure it out on the back end of, like,

54:50

you know what? We're we're sending these guys off at

54:52

seven AM at MPCC to

54:55

get these last, you know, eight holes

54:57

done or whatever. Because, like,

55:00

I mean, really, Team rose got

55:02

absolutely fucking

55:03

crowned. Crowned. It

55:07

worked out well for him. Also sounds like

55:09

he may have had a valid point for wanting things shut

55:11

down at moderate

55:12

peninsula. But but it was two holes out

55:14

of the was two pins or two

55:16

greens out of fifty four My

55:18

question is, is this the first time

55:20

in history that you've ever had lift

55:22

cream in place for an entire week

55:25

while they're simultaneously watering the greens.

55:31

That might be the case. That very well might be the

55:33

case. Also, Lyft clear place was a

55:35

million percent necessary from the job. Like,

55:37

it was it was mudballed nation out

55:39

there. And as soon it was act I bet

55:41

it was relatively firm on the greens, but soon as

55:43

it rained again, it was like, oh my god. There's so much

55:45

water sitting beneath the surface

55:47

that's been sitting there for a month that is waiting

55:49

to just come rising to the top.

55:52

But, yeah, it was it was Elsie. I

55:54

know we like to give them shit for the lift clean in place.

55:56

Let me testify. This was a lift clean in place

55:58

week. But again,

56:00

I think I think things could have been avoided if they were

56:02

willing to move some pit couple

56:03

pins. And they it was. Then

56:06

then today, why like, why can they

56:08

pause play on one course

56:10

today, but not do

56:12

that on Saturday.

56:15

Did did only pebble pause today?

56:16

Yeah. Yeah. Did

56:18

not know that. I don't know the answer to that.

56:21

Is that

56:21

just because it's Sunday and that's they're making an

56:23

exception because, like, they're trying to get to 640?

56:26

It just seems like they it seems like people

56:28

are gonna complain no matter

56:30

what. Right? Like, they're gonna complain if,

56:32

you know, if it all

56:34

has to be simultaneous and, you know,

56:37

my course was underwater while you guys were at

56:39

it in the sunshine, so you made me keep playing. Like,

56:41

they're gonna complain there. Or they're gonna complain

56:43

if you're changing each course and kinda

56:44

using, you know, trading each one like its own environment.

56:47

So I I feel like you gotta just, like, do the rational

56:49

thing, which is to treat them all like their own environment

56:51

and -- Yeah. -- choose that complaining. And

56:53

you wanna keep pulling on this string? We're gonna

56:55

land that. A hundred and fifty six people

56:57

for golf tournament is fucking insane. Wait.

57:00

Saying. And, like, live is not gonna run

57:02

into this problem. For all the flaws that live has,

57:04

like, figuring out that forty eight

57:06

guys should play at a golf tournament and, you know,

57:08

blah blah blah, makes us a shitload of sense.

57:11

Like, they're not gonna have Monday finishes. They

57:13

probably will, but, like, they have way more windows

57:15

to do this stuff in

57:16

than, like, trying to fit all these like,

57:18

it's insane to fit this many people in with that.

57:20

You know

57:21

you know what have been helpful today. Shock and Start.

57:25

What do you think about all the WDs? This

57:27

morning or or last night,

57:29

I should say.

57:30

Yeah. I mean, again,

57:33

it's like when you're a thousand miles away,

57:35

I'd have been like, oh, look, these guys, a little bit assholes

57:37

pulling out. And, like, when you're there, you're like, yeah, dude. I got

57:39

like, I'm gonna miss a cut by five. I've got,

57:41

like, two holes to play, and I can get home to my

57:44

family tonight instead of, like, tomorrow. Like, yeah.

57:46

Like, that makes a lot of

57:47

sense. It

57:48

sounds like it seems like a lot those guys are

57:50

real playable day qualifier. It seems like a lot of

57:52

it. Like,

57:52

some of them meetings Monday. Yeah.

57:54

Some of them did. If you if you get a hot week

57:56

in 640, it it win that, it changes your

57:58

life. Right. This you're missing the

58:00

cut, you know, we're grinding it out for the honor of

58:02

things like that. And it's not like and I I texted Chris.

58:04

We had two holes to play, and he was outside the cut

58:06

line, but closer to it than I realized. But I was like,

58:08

dude, if you need to bail tomorrow, like, do not

58:10

show up for me. Like, we're totally fine here. It's enough.

58:12

I I and DA points showed up this morning to play

58:15

two and was way outside the cut

58:17

line. Like, these and these guys like, dude, this is the right thing

58:19

to do. Like, this tournament's been amazing to me. I'm here

58:21

to I'm not gonna I'm not gonna bail on it.

58:23

So I had no problem with guys that that that

58:25

bailed on it. And it again, when you're sitting

58:27

there at it, it's like, dude, I I would really be in

58:29

a hurry to get out of there if I was those guys and had to do it

58:31

again the next week. For me, it was the coolest

58:34

and most fun week of golf I've ever played.

58:36

So, like, I was gonna be there regardless of

58:38

anything this morning, but for them that do it

58:40

professionally, like, go week to week. Totally

58:42

understand.

58:43

If Chris withdrew, would you still been

58:45

able to play?

58:46

I would have played anyways. I don't know if that

58:48

would have. I would have gone for sure.

58:50

Like,

58:52

hopefully, we're out there and hope that the picks

58:54

off the income drag. Nine forty.

58:56

So you're sure you're not on the sheet. That's

59:00

cool. Well, I'm just gonna go ahead right now, thanks.

59:03

Just back to the actual tournament, let's

59:05

let's assume for second that maybe Justin Rose

59:08

wins this. Does it do anything

59:10

for you at all? Do you feel like it's been four years

59:12

since the world former number

59:14

one. Here one here. Here here's what

59:16

I'll say. Not not Justin Rose. Fan.

59:20

I I

59:21

You know, you've you've always been on team

59:23

You're on team road. You know, I've I've just

59:26

not not my favorite golfer in the world.

59:28

I don't actively root against him necessarily,

59:30

but just it just doesn't really do it for me.

59:32

Take that for what you will. But I will

59:34

say, I I gotta give some credit

59:37

where it's due in

59:37

that, like, how fucking easy it would

59:39

have been for him to go join live and

59:42

for him to cash in massively

59:45

on you know, as a major champion,

59:47

Olympic champion, future rider

59:49

cup captain, like, he could

59:51

have gotten a very, very, very big check,

59:53

hasn't and instead has, like, clearly

59:55

continued to grind and and actually, like,

59:58

totally lost it. It's seemingly and

1:00:00

totally found it and rebuilt it.

1:00:02

And you know, had a Soly's

1:00:05

had, like, a pretty good Wesco swing,

1:00:07

I think, had a pretty good fall, and

1:00:09

now is on the cusp of winning. And so

1:00:12

not my favorite guy out there, but I gotta give some credit

1:00:14

if he does. Get it done. And if he doesn't, you

1:00:16

know, that that's fun too. So

1:00:18

I'm excited to watch tomorrow morning. We'll see

1:00:20

what happens. I'll still give him credit even

1:00:23

if he doesn't win for the exact thing you said

1:00:25

as in I do

1:00:27

part of, like, why I've hated about that some of the

1:00:29

guys that have gone that were just, like, maybe slightly

1:00:31

on the downtick of their career, was

1:00:34

like, after watching them achieve great things,

1:00:36

was like, dude, this is kind of part of the deal with

1:00:38

golf. Nobody rides the high forever.

1:00:40

Like, part of the the shitty

1:00:43

stuff is what makes the good stuff worth it.

1:00:45

And like falling back into a safety

1:00:47

net in your twenties or thirties, whenever,

1:00:50

you know, whenever you did this is like not

1:00:52

why I like following golf. Right? Like, part

1:00:54

of the stress is the deal. Right? I mean, speed

1:00:56

went through three years of not hell, but, like,

1:00:59

really bad golf in his and he's, like, trying to

1:01:01

battle his way out of it. Ricky to his credit would

1:01:03

have been super easy to go. And he's trying

1:01:05

to grind his way out of it. And so I I'm with

1:01:07

you, Deets. I gotta give Justin Rose respect that

1:01:09

he fits the bill really, really, really well

1:01:11

for live and has not done it.

1:01:13

And I in that way, I'm rooting for

1:01:15

him. I am really excited

1:01:17

about Justin Rose being a writer cap captain.

1:01:20

Because, like, if if someone who loves

1:01:22

that competition above all things. Like,

1:01:24

Justin Rose is a is the great

1:01:27

European writer cup captain. A little bit

1:01:29

smug a little bit sort of,

1:01:31

you know, very into it,

1:01:34

come off, you know, be a little bit sort of snarky

1:01:37

with other players of the press.

1:01:40

I think I'm really bummed about the idea of

1:01:42

Ian Polter never being a writer

1:01:44

cup captain just because of what he's meant to

1:01:47

my watching of that event. And so

1:01:49

if that never happens, that's a huge bummer. And if you

1:01:51

just continue to pick off more and

1:01:53

more guys who were sort of important

1:01:55

part of it as players. If they never got to be captain,

1:01:57

that would be as huge bomber. So I hope

1:01:59

that, like, he's on the sort

1:02:01

of shortlist for twenty five because

1:02:04

I think that would make a lot of

1:02:05

sense, and I hope that that's one of the reasons that And

1:02:07

just so much context with his career

1:02:09

too. Right? We're, like, know Paul McGinley was

1:02:11

kind of a curveball captain anyways,

1:02:14

but it's like it's not like I have many

1:02:16

or any memories of Paul McGinley

1:02:18

playing professional golf. Right? Whereas,

1:02:20

like, Justin Rosa Medina can

1:02:23

picture that pretty fucking vividly, man. Like,

1:02:25

that that I remember happening to him

1:02:27

him getting to yes. Him getting

1:02:29

to, you know, winning

1:02:31

the US open. I remember that very vividly.

1:02:33

Like, we're gonna be robbed of kind of the

1:02:36

West Woods, Poulters, Sergios, like

1:02:38

all these guys that, you know, our generation

1:02:41

have grown up

1:02:41

watching, getting robbed of them as Ryder

1:02:44

Cup captains likely? Maybe not. Who knows?

1:02:46

Knows how it'll shake out,

1:02:47

maybe the dust will settle, those guys will all

1:02:49

have their turn, but assuming

1:02:51

that they won't as the way it looks right now and

1:02:54

that that kind of

1:02:54

blows. I don't know what they're gonna do for those

1:02:57

gap years. We could

1:02:58

be looking at at the Hawaii Gardens as co

1:03:00

captains.

1:03:01

Possible or Ludbig. Fluffy

1:03:03

might be a playing captain in a couple years. Yeah.

1:03:06

Beyond Rose, like, he's, you know, he's currently

1:03:08

up two shots over Danny McCarthy

1:03:10

who's just went completely unconscious

1:03:13

on the on the front

1:03:14

line.

1:03:15

Can we talk about that, the Augusta

1:03:17

Burger tweet about how much David McCarthy looks

1:03:19

like, Lee Harvey

1:03:20

Oswald, Mike.

1:03:21

That would kinda hit me like it's

1:03:23

fucking very sorry. Yeah. I

1:03:25

mean, thirty 124567,

1:03:29

and nine. And

1:03:31

then

1:03:31

makes the turn Thirty birdie.

1:03:34

Thirty eleven. No birdies. Eleven.

1:03:36

Oh, yeah. Like a twelve footer on ten that

1:03:38

he did. Fifteen footer. And then

1:03:40

bogey's thirteen or fourteen. Birdie's

1:03:42

fifteen. He's on sixteen right now,

1:03:44

and he's got a fourteen footer for Birdie.

1:03:47

So, you know, he's he's

1:03:49

like, I mean, seven hundred through fifteen.

1:03:52

Brendan Todd's playing well. He's five hundred

1:03:54

through twelve. While

1:03:56

Nadi's scraping one

1:03:57

together, two under through

1:03:59

nine. I'm going down the leaderboard right now, but the

1:04:02

tournament's not over, so it makes sense to get

1:04:03

on the leaderboard. No.

1:04:05

We'll allow it. We'll allow it to see. Will Hendrith.

1:04:07

Hendrith had an iron off the t on

1:04:09

eighteen. Oh, I was

1:04:11

very happy again, she was the CVS. Happy

1:04:13

to hear Trevor, enablement question,

1:04:16

that one, like, pretty, you know, pretty respectfully,

1:04:18

but a little, like, yeah, I don't really get that at

1:04:20

all. This guy nukes the golf ball

1:04:23

he's got a chance to make an eagle, post

1:04:25

a number before everybody else, make everybody

1:04:27

think about it as they're going out to play those tough

1:04:29

holes and really cold weather tomorrow

1:04:31

morning and then it just makes like kind of

1:04:33

a gross par, scrapes

1:04:36

it together, makes par horrible birdie

1:04:38

putt on eighteen. And

1:04:40

yeah. Now sits in the clubhouse, what,

1:04:42

three back of the league. Yeah.

1:04:44

He's but he's twelve in the clubhouse. It's good

1:04:46

to see Trevor. I I was happy to see him call

1:04:48

that out. And then Amanda, you know, kinda closes

1:04:50

the circle and gets an interview with

1:04:52

him afterwards, asks him about it. It's like, oh, there

1:04:54

we go. This is the storytelling context.

1:04:56

We we got the beginning middle and end

1:04:58

here. This is great. His answer was that it was

1:05:00

a you know, wasn't driving a well. Let's teach out the minimum

1:05:02

uncomfortable. The wind wasn't right. It was called

1:05:05

It was like, oh, shit. That's a lot

1:05:07

of reasons. And -- Yeah. -- in his defense, there's

1:05:09

only one guy that hit the eighteenth green too on

1:05:11

Sunday.

1:05:13

And Annie's Canadian. Like, it was

1:05:15

just very it was just very Canadian. Okay.

1:05:18

So Canadian move. Yeah. They're defensive. But

1:05:20

It's

1:05:20

kinda like, oh, you know? Man.

1:05:23

Can I take a second to to Hank

1:05:25

got going from Harry?

1:05:29

It's a boot it's a boot two sixty.

1:05:31

Y'all. All the Canadians

1:05:33

are don't drive well, all the Canadians are

1:05:35

in furious right now. Notice that I have not pertaining

1:05:37

to this. Direct your mentions to t

1:05:39

c at KBV. Can I talk

1:05:41

about Malnati for a second? Please.

1:05:43

I feel like we've used him as an example

1:05:46

over the

1:05:46

years. No one possibly more than well, Trond

1:05:48

has more than me. But

1:05:49

I've I've shut off and gone. All stop.

1:05:52

Almost no one would more than me. Use

1:05:54

them as just the example of, like, the we

1:05:56

got a death title, this guy, we got to get this guy

1:05:58

off the tour, get him out of here,

1:06:00

I was so tickled by his interview on

1:06:02

Saturday. He's just he was so genuine.

1:06:05

Is he like a massive cheese ball? Yes.

1:06:07

He definitely is

1:06:09

He's the guy from he's the guy from Josh Keefe's

1:06:12

in the office

1:06:13

space. That's exactly right.

1:06:14

You want some food. Jalapeno poppers, extreme

1:06:16

theaters. Get room. You too. Brian's

1:06:19

got thirty seven pieces of square.

1:06:22

The more I thought about it though, the more I'm like, you know,

1:06:24

is that is what's a bigger sin here?

1:06:26

It's like just being like an extreme cheese

1:06:28

ball or, like, being extreme cheese ball pretending

1:06:30

to be someone else. Like, that guy, I think, is

1:06:33

is pretty obviously being himself out there.

1:06:35

Can't hate him. Can't hate on him for that. You

1:06:37

know, he's he's doing his

1:06:39

thing. He clearly just like wants to play

1:06:42

really good golf and hang out with his family. I think

1:06:44

it's pretty obvious that he's maxed

1:06:46

out his talent more than maybe anybody

1:06:48

on the p j tour. Keeps

1:06:50

his card, hangs around, has a win.

1:06:52

So, you know, I was kinda Maybe

1:06:54

I'm just getting old and sentimental, but I was

1:06:57

I was talking myself into rooting

1:06:59

for Malnati a little bit. Yes, sir. I never thought

1:07:01

I'd get

1:07:02

there. I'm right there with you, man. Wow.

1:07:04

This is huge. Just, you know,

1:07:06

like, I feel like I need to just spend some time

1:07:08

with him and get some positivity and

1:07:11

some sunshine in my life. I was

1:07:13

bummed to see no kind bar. I

1:07:15

don't know. Adorsement on his

1:07:18

on his outerwear. Maybe he just didn't have embroidered

1:07:20

or whatnot, but

1:07:22

too much a lot of sugar in those. Maybe too much

1:07:24

sugar. Team the team roast might have an

1:07:26

issue with that.

1:07:30

Can I get a shout out to Bo Hasler? Sure.

1:07:34

She heard. Sixty seven on Saturday

1:07:36

at Spy Glass, or most of

1:07:39

Saturday, he finished

1:07:40

today, but on spy glass.

1:07:42

But that was just that was an exceptional

1:07:44

round. He was he he doubled six,

1:07:47

which was his fifteenth hole.

1:07:49

But he was gosh.

1:07:52

He was seven under through fourteen

1:07:55

at spy glass yesterday in, like,

1:07:57

the shit, which was serious going

1:07:59

on. He seems like he's he's coming

1:08:01

on. He's another guy

1:08:02

that, like, he, you know, he's always reminded us of

1:08:04

a golden retriever? I

1:08:06

know. We thought he'd be running around on Carmel Beach

1:08:08

down there. He's the tennis ball type coach, Brad.

1:08:11

But he he just

1:08:12

seems to be coming into his own a little

1:08:13

bit. Don't say us, by the way. That was a rainy

1:08:16

take that I did not see at all, by

1:08:18

the way.

1:08:18

That's that's like Randy, d c,

1:08:20

Neil, and d j pink. Yeah.

1:08:23

I think reminds you of a golden retriever. II0.

1:08:25

Yeah. Randy

1:08:27

used to say

1:08:28

it. I thought it was just because Randy hates dogs. It

1:08:30

didn't like Bo Hasler.

1:08:32

No. I can see how you talk about it. Can

1:08:33

you guys make a list for the new employee about

1:08:35

which takes I have acclaim additional ones after

1:08:37

this. We're not

1:08:38

gonna mandate any of your tech. You you can pick

1:08:40

and choose as you like.

1:08:42

Couple other guys Keith Mitchell.

1:08:44

Keith's kinda stalled out a little bit. He's

1:08:46

he's three back minus

1:08:48

twelve. Thoughts on the miked up segment

1:08:50

on the on the third hole? I thought it was

1:08:52

great except for the wind. Yeah. The communities

1:08:55

were little tough for

1:08:56

that, but it's gonna

1:08:57

be a lot easier in Phoenix, I think, when they're like

1:08:59

playing dome golf. I would think

1:09:01

so. But John Lamani calling him off a shot

1:09:03

and so good. Great little nugget in

1:09:05

there and Trevor is awesome at just

1:09:07

like not asking, like, hey, how's it

1:09:10

going out there? Right? Like, how do you the

1:09:12

wind is doing this? How do you prepare for this? And it led

1:09:14

straight to Keith. I'm like, yeah, I mean, I was looking

1:09:16

at the map last night and, like, looking at which holes

1:09:18

or or which direction so you know which pins

1:09:20

are gonna be gettable and, you know, match up with the pin

1:09:22

sheet and seeing, you know, start visualizing

1:09:25

what shot you're gonna hit off certain holes because the wind direction

1:09:27

and things like that. And you hear again,

1:09:29

just like it's not like game changing, but

1:09:31

you hear the conversation about them agreeing

1:09:33

on, like, a one fifteen shot. And

1:09:35

then the wind changes little bit. John the money

1:09:38

comes in, talks him off of it, or,

1:09:40

you know, pulls them off the shot, chain they change it

1:09:42

to a one ten shot, and he hits it

1:09:44

and lands it right Penn high. It was just like, dude, that's

1:09:46

just Again, it's not like viral content.

1:09:48

It's just really engaging. My eyes and ears

1:09:50

were super focused on the

1:09:52

TV, and that's a great improvement. It

1:09:54

it just is so I don't

1:09:56

know. I don't mean to say obvious, like,

1:09:58

it's, like, you know, smart me away, but it's just

1:10:00

like, who the fuck do you think is watching this tournament,

1:10:02

man? Yeah. It it's like the sickest

1:10:05

sickest sickest golf sickos that

1:10:07

are watching this stuff. And it's like just

1:10:09

they don't wanna hear, you know, in in

1:10:12

you can hear it, like, you can start to see it bump

1:10:14

up against the rails of, like, how many

1:10:16

sweaters you got out there? How many which actually

1:10:18

was kind of funny joke. But, like, you

1:10:20

know, they start to fall back on the crutches

1:10:22

of, like, very boring

1:10:25

kinda generic questions. And

1:10:28

It's it's awesome when Trevor or NASA,

1:10:30

Nobolo, whoever snaps back in and just like, no. No.

1:10:32

No. Talk to me about that wedge. And then

1:10:34

you get really good stuff. I'm like, no. We

1:10:36

the wind switched and so he took four off of

1:10:38

it and what he was doing with his Trackman and how

1:10:40

they were normalizing numbers. And it's like

1:10:43

that's just think about who's watching this

1:10:45

content. Like, what do those people wanna

1:10:47

see? Like, don't don't try to imagine, you

1:10:50

know, some milk toast thing

1:10:52

that's going to bring in people who are already not watching

1:10:54

in the first

1:10:55

place. Which is what so much golf stuff

1:10:57

seems to be. It's like specificity and

1:10:59

then, like, trying to Like

1:11:02

like, I applaud them for for leaning into

1:11:04

the the golf cyclo --

1:11:06

Yes. -- you know, wonky stuff instead of

1:11:08

going the other direction. I think it's such a validation

1:11:10

for, like, no. Like, when you do that, you bring up

1:11:12

the level and you force people to, like, you

1:11:15

know, learn something about golf instead of

1:11:17

spoon feeding and going to the lowest common denominator

1:11:19

and just pissing everybody

1:11:20

off. Like, oh my gosh. Imagine what

1:11:23

happens. Like, it strengthens your product. Well,

1:11:25

I think and and we're gonna get into this when we

1:11:27

talk about the full swing stuff eventually,

1:11:29

I think, but that was one of my one of

1:11:31

my things about that even coming NLU you

1:11:33

know, even before I watched the episodes and now that I have

1:11:36

watched the episodes is, like, when

1:11:38

you do take it down to that lowest common denominator

1:11:41

level, golf is just not interesting. And,

1:11:43

like, the thought I know is, like, we need to make it more

1:11:45

approachable for casual fans. I'm, like, well,

1:11:48

I get that thought, but it's

1:11:50

not the same as basketball where you can

1:11:52

just show slam dunks. It's not the same as

1:11:54

f one where you can show fiery car

1:11:56

crashes and beautiful people and crazy

1:11:58

places. It's not like it's not that.

1:12:00

It just when you strip away all the nitty gritty

1:12:02

stuff, it just gets really boring. And

1:12:05

that's why I think this segment's like the the best

1:12:07

example of what the opposite looks

1:12:09

like. And TCE, I'll I'll push back on

1:12:11

you, you know, you're almost somewhat hesitant

1:12:13

to give CBS props in terms of your hesitant to be

1:12:15

a d

1:12:16

writer, I believe, was the phrase in there. And it's like,

1:12:18

I wanna

1:12:18

show No. No. No. No. Well,

1:12:20

like, I don't think you need to put up a disclaimer

1:12:22

that feel like AAD writer by doing that

1:12:24

because when we were really hard

1:12:27

on them, it wasn't for the sake

1:12:29

of like being haters or being

1:12:31

hard on them or like just shitting

1:12:33

on something. It was because there was, like, a

1:12:35

massive gap in, like, following

1:12:38

the golf tournament and, like, be

1:12:40

us being the biggest golf fans imaginable and wanting

1:12:42

to just straight up not watch golf. Like, that is

1:12:44

really hard to do. Right? And

1:12:47

it it it's okay. It it would be disingenuous

1:12:50

of us to not acknowledge the

1:12:52

drastic improvements that have been made and I don't

1:12:54

have the same feelings of dread when

1:12:56

I flip it on now. Are there sometimes when the commercial

1:12:58

load still feels too big, but I honestly, like, think

1:13:00

they forgot to go to commercial for, like, thirty minutes

1:13:02

at one point today. Or at least it felt that way.

1:13:05

Right? And, like, that is such a market improvement

1:13:07

and that it you know,

1:13:08

sure. People are always gonna, you know, if they wanna

1:13:10

hate, they can hate and think we're just t writers

1:13:12

for the again, I don't know what the basis

1:13:15

is for that. But I spent I spent, like,

1:13:17

six years shitting on CBS

1:13:19

and calling

1:13:20

for, like, Sean McManus and

1:13:22

Lance Farrell and all these people to, like, lose

1:13:24

their jobs. So I feel like I have to see if

1:13:26

it plays it. Ask some of these jobs. These

1:13:28

people families. Man.

1:13:30

Like, I'm allowed to I'm allowed to

1:13:32

praise progress. And I think, like,

1:13:34

deep down, they didn't want to admit it, but they they were kind

1:13:36

of, like, gosh, these guys are right. Like, okay.

1:13:38

We gotta make some changes and they've

1:13:41

embraced it, man. I got it. You have to give them credit

1:13:43

for it, and they've become the leaders in presenting golf.

1:13:45

And this team this team is really good at talking

1:13:47

golf. And that I think we owe a lot of that to Trevor.

1:13:49

He's a great quarterback. But they were

1:13:51

great. I mean, it was great today. Like, when they had them

1:13:53

all in the directors chairs along

1:13:56

along the coastline, like, like, they had

1:13:58

forty five minutes or an hour to kill at the

1:14:00

start of their broadcast when there was nobody on

1:14:02

the golf course. And they did some stuff with

1:14:04

Arnet and Bateman out there, which was which

1:14:06

was great. Then then they got in the golf

1:14:09

course. Then, like, they they're adding features.

1:14:11

There's all sorts of new camera angles.

1:14:14

Like you said, it seemed like they forgot to go

1:14:16

to commercial. Handicheld

1:14:18

very much commercial. I think

1:14:19

they probably buried a bunch of commercials during the delay.

1:14:21

But true. But still, like, that was something that

1:14:23

they, you know, They used to, like, front load and then

1:14:25

also just do the regular load once they got

1:14:27

going. There was stuff. There were camera

1:14:30

angles, just regular camera angles,

1:14:32

drone shots, odd seven, on

1:14:34

eight, on nine that I've never

1:14:36

dreamed of seeing a pebble. You know? And, like,

1:14:38

it didn't it like, it got to the point where it didn't

1:14:40

matter who was playing in the tournament. It would it

1:14:42

just wanted to see guys hit golf shots. I wanted

1:14:44

to see Rose hit that shot on eight or,

1:14:47

you know, see guys hit hit the shot

1:14:49

on seven and they truly brought it to life

1:14:52

and you know, I mean, shit, e like,

1:14:54

even Ian Baker Finch said something critical

1:14:56

today. He said Michael Kim's putting

1:14:59

is not the strength of his

1:15:00

game, which is

1:15:01

which was just number eight number eight thousand

1:15:03

of the world, which again Yeah. --

1:15:05

flash back to four years ago when Fox

1:15:07

had the US open at Pebble Beach and they

1:15:09

had drones and Nance came in the booth. He

1:15:11

was like, wow. Look at that view of seven. I've never

1:15:13

seen that from a drone before. It's like, you guys have

1:15:15

broadcast this turn around for so long. And

1:15:18

you've never brought that view, and now it's just standard.

1:15:20

So it's the the level of of

1:15:22

coverage has has been

1:15:23

risen. So And even just being able to

1:15:25

see, like, I mean, doing that thing

1:15:28

on number four was it three or four

1:15:30

with Keith well, on three with Keith Mitchell

1:15:32

today? Like, those are two of the most underrated

1:15:35

holes in the entire golf course that normally get

1:15:37

lost in the shuffle as they're trying to fit a bunch

1:15:39

of shit in at the beginning of the broadcast that we

1:15:41

never get to see. And it's like, oh, my

1:15:44

gosh. This is, like, it's delightful to be able

1:15:46

to watch that and, you know, see

1:15:48

these see the best holes in the golf course

1:15:50

in a really really cool light

1:15:52

today

1:15:53

too. So a lot more stuff to get

1:15:55

to what's next. Any concerns about

1:15:57

HOVLAND? I

1:15:59

mean, I was kinda like, you know, he

1:16:01

was was right there today. He's even

1:16:03

through eleven right now.

1:16:05

It's just not happening. He's

1:16:08

he's amazingly has, like, some of the most,

1:16:11

like, worldwide PGA Tour and European

1:16:13

Tour wins over the last three years yet.

1:16:15

I had to, like, double when I look up that stat on Datacart,

1:16:18

then I did, like, double check what they actually were and they're,

1:16:20

like, of course, a bunch of island victories that,

1:16:22

you know, in off seasons that are weird and whatnot.

1:16:24

But Yeah. I'm ready for ready for a big one. We're

1:16:26

ready for at least like a medium sized win because

1:16:28

I don't even know if he has medium sized win

1:16:30

yet. And then I just wanted

1:16:33

to shout out Brandon Wu. I've been

1:16:35

really impressed watching him today and

1:16:38

he and he's got that big ass

1:16:39

hat. It looks like less miles.

1:16:42

Is he? Potentially,

1:16:44

I'll add no cattle, p c. Looks

1:16:48

like Calvin's chipping has improved

1:16:50

this year. Just looked it

1:16:51

up, you know, like, thirty ninth strokes

1:16:53

game. Obviously, that did hit a sick shot on

1:16:55

eighteen at the end of round three. He was in the

1:16:57

tree by the green, like,

1:17:00

on on near routes, on a ball and

1:17:02

hit a really bold nippy

1:17:05

pitch that stopped and spun right next to the

1:17:07

hall. It was really, really good. Yeah.

1:17:09

I think he I I guess, I don't think he

1:17:11

Did he not play the Middle East stuff? I

1:17:14

don't think he

1:17:14

did. I don't think he's I don't think he's played anything.

1:17:16

He's played the Century. This he

1:17:19

took a ton of time off this winter and was

1:17:21

spending a lot of time in Norway and played Century,

1:17:23

but was not sharp. And it's just been worked

1:17:25

himself into

1:17:26

shape. I think

1:17:26

maybe he's just too That's his point. That's how I can do that.

1:17:28

I could I honestly love you see him playing

1:17:31

good at it. I just wanna see him be a killer because I

1:17:33

really like him and, like, I love his game and he's

1:17:35

so good with his irons and everything. It's just

1:17:37

it's just Soly's, like, one more thing about pebble.

1:17:39

Just like playing it kind of in tournament

1:17:41

conditions. Is there it seems like

1:17:44

there's something super cool

1:17:46

and weird about it to where it's like this combination

1:17:48

of small greens and, like,

1:17:50

weird slopes around the greens, like,

1:17:52

on eight yesterday, or, yeah,

1:17:55

on on Saturday. Keith Mitchell had, like,

1:17:57

one of the most, like, the grossest up and downs

1:17:59

I've ever seen or just stuff that you're

1:18:01

like, like, you wouldn't see that on any other PGA

1:18:03

Tour golf

1:18:04

course, and pebble just has it

1:18:06

in spades. Well, it what was

1:18:08

amazing again playing it Wednesday and playing it

1:18:10

Saturday was two totally different

1:18:13

experiences because Wednesday, again,

1:18:15

was like playing with two left feet. I mean, if you

1:18:17

ended up above some of those Sometimes

1:18:19

you couldn't even keep it on the green. I

1:18:21

was so nervous couldn't even spit on some of

1:18:23

those chips. And it but,

1:18:25

like, then all of a sudden, when it gets soft, it's just

1:18:27

like, oh, shit. Like, this is kinda simple. There's

1:18:30

that that fine line of this place can

1:18:32

be really hard. I walked off Wednesday. I was like, dude, this pebble,

1:18:34

like, one of the hardest golf courses in the world. Like,

1:18:36

never feel like that watching it on TV, but it feels

1:18:38

like it now. And then when it was soft and

1:18:41

the conditions weren't there, it was like, oh, okay. Maybe

1:18:43

it's really not. So it it dances that fine line,

1:18:45

but There are so the greens are so

1:18:47

small yet with such rigid edges

1:18:49

to them that if you miss the small

1:18:51

greens, you're trying to leave it on the fat part

1:18:53

a little bit, but if you miss like on that bad

1:18:55

spot on two or bad spot on one left of

1:18:57

it or up on that hill on eight. Oh

1:19:00

my god did. went long on sixteen

1:19:02

because I air mailed the green there. Oh

1:19:04

my

1:19:04

god. It's that dead. And I went long on fifteen.

1:19:07

Totally toast. Like And

1:19:08

then you gotta, like, land your chip in

1:19:10

the roof.

1:19:10

Yes. And then, like, for the right now

1:19:13

Yeah. Trouble forward. It's

1:19:15

crazy. So it's a I

1:19:17

have more respect for pebble after and

1:19:19

I played it in twelve years, it is

1:19:21

a rule. Dude, the just the scenes

1:19:24

were just in is incredible.

1:19:26

Like, I I live in a beach town and

1:19:28

I'm used to seeing

1:19:29

coastline, and then you go in see, like, both

1:19:31

Maui and Monterey Peninsula again.

1:19:33

We're just, like, oh my god. This is, like, what real

1:19:36

coastline looks like. Kevin,

1:19:38

I were talking about the other day. I mean, I think

1:19:40

Like, the US women's open this year could be -- Oh my

1:19:43

god. -- without exaggeration, like, the

1:19:45

coolest tournament in the history of women's golf.

1:19:47

Right? Like, I I don't know what you

1:19:50

could make make a case that, like, the open at, you

1:19:52

know, the women's open at deal course is up

1:19:54

there. But, like, I I don't know how it gets too much better

1:19:57

then especially if Nellie has like a

1:19:59

really good spring or if, you

1:20:01

know, any of these other top players start

1:20:03

to really like grab the bull by the

1:20:05

horns. Lydia obviously is

1:20:07

like beating people up again. Like,

1:20:09

having any kind of stars collide at

1:20:12

pebble could be just the the absolute

1:20:14

coolest. I I can't wait for that terabit. We

1:20:16

play the amateurs played the they're

1:20:19

gonna play for the US women's open. It was

1:20:21

sixty four fifty seven is what played

1:20:23

it at. So there was, like, longer than

1:20:25

they usually play at, like, a back across a little bit

1:20:27

of the ditch on three in couple places

1:20:29

where they some of the other amps that had played it before,

1:20:31

so the Ts were not there. And it's

1:20:34

gonna be it's gonna be a very interesting test

1:20:36

of

1:20:36

golf, and I'm very excited for that. Can we talk

1:20:38

about the finish on the DP

1:20:39

World tour this morning? Well, I was just

1:20:41

gonna call out speed real quick. I was

1:20:44

completely I I put ninety

1:20:46

two nuggets on him this week. Just yeah.

1:20:48

That's that's tough. Called at at,

1:20:50

you know, the round three performance. And then

1:20:52

I wanted to shout out Paul O'Hara It

1:20:55

was a instead

1:20:56

of ProAm

1:20:58

ProAm know,

1:21:00

like, two or three weeks ago that he was in field.

1:21:02

I guess they gave him a sponsor exemption.

1:21:05

He's, like, number one on the tartan tour

1:21:07

in Scotland, which is, like, this fifth

1:21:09

tier, like, tour. Has

1:21:11

it hit off of natural grass

1:21:13

in, like, three months,

1:21:17

goes out and makes the cut. So Damn.

1:21:19

I just wanted to I just wanted to

1:21:21

shout that out. He's playing with speed in the final round

1:21:23

here. So

1:21:24

that's a good shout out. Soly's. You see

1:21:26

the the finish on the dude perfect I

1:21:28

did. That's not the only thing outside of

1:21:30

what I played at this week that I actually saw.

1:21:33

What a thrill that

1:21:33

was. For those that did not see

1:21:35

it, Daniel Gavin's show. This

1:21:38

is, of course, the the Razzok Kymaya

1:21:40

championship, TC.

1:21:41

Not seeing these with the Razzok Kymaya

1:21:43

open.

1:21:44

Yeah. Open or is it open? Or

1:21:46

classic or whatever yeah. Whatever the other one

1:21:48

is.

1:21:48

You guys think about, like, ROSS al Gool from the Yes.

1:21:51

Absolutely. Absolutely. Absolutely. What I think. I almost

1:21:53

say that every time. But Daniel

1:21:55

Gavens comes to the tee with a two

1:21:57

shot lead at eighteen, hits

1:21:59

two balls in the water. Hits

1:22:02

his t shot in the water just like it

1:22:04

it's kind of a what what

1:22:06

would be a hole that it's like

1:22:08

a reverse eighteen at sawgrass

1:22:10

kind of. Or now gets to par five. Right? So it's

1:22:12

like a reverse eighteen at pebble. Almost like

1:22:14

the water's on the right and set it

1:22:16

left. And just blows this t

1:22:18

shot way right.

1:22:19

It's like it's like Bay Hill. Almost.

1:22:21

Yeah. But, like, the par five instead of par four.

1:22:23

Yeah.

1:22:24

Hit driver with a two shot lead on eighteen with

1:22:26

water all the best price. Looks

1:22:28

like it takes a drop. Goes for the

1:22:30

green with a three wood. Never

1:22:32

gonna believe where that one ends up. Just an

1:22:34

unbelievable unbelievable series

1:22:36

of events hits like kind of a shitty wedge

1:22:38

on. And then makes, like, a twenty footer

1:22:41

for double. Thirty footer for

1:22:43

double, which, like, which,

1:22:46

you know, he ends up winning the tournament outright.

1:22:48

It it was It was truly unbelievable

1:22:51

stuff. Yeah. So York was, like, I

1:22:53

guess, up ahead. He bogeys because

1:22:56

Gavans had a two shot lead, and then Zander

1:22:58

Lombard, who was leading. So he was in the last

1:23:00

group, missed the twenty five footer for

1:23:02

Eagle. Yeah.

1:23:03

He had a chance to set it to a play of.

1:23:05

Yeah. It was just really,

1:23:07

really good stuff. Would would recommend looking up the

1:23:09

highlights from that one? Yeah. Adam

1:23:10

has had a crazy round.

1:23:12

I mean, he had,

1:23:13

like, birdied, like, five holes in a

1:23:15

row at one point. He had three bogeys.

1:23:17

He had a double. It

1:23:18

was, like, pure cocaine. It

1:23:20

was it

1:23:21

was wifts of the play off at

1:23:23

low foot in Sally. Yeah.

1:23:26

Triple triple the win. Anything

1:23:29

else? DP world tour? Yes, Holly. I don't

1:23:31

I don't wanna bring this

1:23:32

up. I know it's tough for you. Tough day for the

1:23:34

Hologuard twins. I

1:23:35

went hologuing this weekend, and they did

1:23:37

not. He closed

1:23:37

the deal on Sunday. That's okay. That's fine.

1:23:39

Wait. The way the way that my

1:23:41

first bet of the year. We're gonna everything else

1:23:44

in my life is going

1:23:44

great. Of the season of the

1:23:47

season. Of the year. Matching

1:23:50

seventy threes, Rasmus

1:23:52

finished t six, Nikolai, the defending

1:23:54

champ finished t thirteen. KBUU

1:23:57

was asking what the what the differences between

1:23:59

the hoy guards is. They

1:24:01

look they're very identical. I guess, John Hogan

1:24:03

had a great great feature on him last

1:24:06

year, a couple years ago in golf digest.

1:24:08

But Nikola is couple minutes older

1:24:10

than Rasmus. You may see that. But

1:24:13

I but I'll otherwise, they look very, very identical.

1:24:16

I think Rasmus is kinda like like he had earlier

1:24:18

success both as an amateur and

1:24:20

as professional. He's kinda

1:24:23

longer, more languid, smoother swing.

1:24:25

Nickelized, like, longer off

1:24:27

the tee, quicker shorter swing, a lot more erratic,

1:24:29

more of a bomb and gouger. And

1:24:33

think this is very interesting. They have different coaches.

1:24:35

So

1:24:36

they're not they're not coached by the same guy,

1:24:38

but would say RASM is more polished He

1:24:41

probably has more shots in his repertoire, more

1:24:43

composed under pressure. Nikolai's

1:24:45

ceiling is is probably higher if he can

1:24:48

honest his power a little bit

1:24:50

more. So Okay. Thank you for

1:24:52

that. I was trying to explain to my daughter this

1:24:54

morning the difference between them. I was like, I Honestly,

1:24:56

I have no idea. I just know their

1:24:57

twins. And she was like, what? What?

1:25:00

How are their twin golfers? It's unbelievable.

1:25:03

Can we can we talk about the news of the week?

1:25:06

Oh, no.

1:25:06

TC, smoking bridge?

1:25:08

Yeah. I think

1:25:10

somebody I saw a dig of this up on Twitter

1:25:12

that Sean, you were years ahead of this,

1:25:14

called the Swigga Bridge a disgrace when

1:25:17

we were there for tours saw

1:25:18

us. Always one of my favorite takes.

1:25:21

Swigga Bridge so overrated. And

1:25:23

I think it is a little overrated. Kind of a almost

1:25:25

a self fulfilling prophecy as they for

1:25:28

those that didn't see the photos, put

1:25:30

put bunch of You put a even stone

1:25:32

ball sack on it. Yeah. Slope it's

1:25:35

a smoking patio now. It it looks

1:25:37

very patio ish for, you know,

1:25:39

I'm I'm projecting here, but I I'm guessing

1:25:41

it's a foot traffic issue for

1:25:43

for those that have been there. You probably remember

1:25:45

that area in front of the bridge gets pretty chewed

1:25:47

up. Obviously, everybody goes, you know,

1:25:49

walks right through there. It's often muddy. And

1:25:53

so they took it upon themselves to

1:25:55

kind of extend the

1:25:56

stones.

1:25:57

It's a DIY project. Takata

1:26:00

patio on the on the front end

1:26:02

of it, and it it didn't go great.

1:26:04

On social media. I saw they issued a statement

1:26:06

today about it. I don't

1:26:08

know if you guys had any any reaction serious

1:26:11

or not

1:26:11

serious. They're saying it's it's also,

1:26:13

like, in keeping with, I guess, it was like

1:26:16

that couple hundred years ago,

1:26:19

which, you know, I mean,

1:26:21

it, you know, it just doesn't

1:26:23

look

1:26:24

good. I think is the only thing I would

1:26:26

add there.

1:26:27

It just doesn't fucking look good. But

1:26:28

one of these before that, there was nothing. I don't

1:26:31

think this do that either. If I may say, it didn't

1:26:33

look good before, though. Like, it was so downtrodden

1:26:35

and, like, the artificial turf looked

1:26:37

awful. And It's like let it be

1:26:39

mud. Right? Just like like sometimes

1:26:41

in the year, it's gonna just it's gonna be

1:26:43

a little, like, during the downhill, like, it

1:26:46

was it was already wet and cold more

1:26:48

than usual, and it didn't even look

1:26:50

that bad to begin

1:26:51

with. Like, it, like, it looked more natural

1:26:53

than it does now. Now it, like, like,

1:26:55

Tim Herron tweeted something out today

1:26:57

where he he put a

1:26:59

hot tub. Hot tub. Hot

1:27:01

tub in the middle of it. It's kinda like what we

1:27:04

with sawgrass likegrassgrass,

1:27:07

there where it just it just looks so

1:27:09

unnatural. It

1:27:10

is funny to me that the people, like, how could you

1:27:13

to, like, mess with this sacred monument

1:27:15

and, you know, this is, like, holy ground. Like, dude,

1:27:17

they used to play this course in a completely opposite

1:27:19

fucking direction.

1:27:21

There he's now a hotel that juts

1:27:23

out in the middle of one of the holes. Like, I don't

1:27:25

know that sacred ground is quite what we're

1:27:27

Like, this is a little bit overflow. It's

1:27:29

it's a very extremely funny

1:27:32

thing to take very seriously.

1:27:34

I've had so many people replying my

1:27:36

tweet of, like, chill out man. Like,

1:27:39

you need to, you know, like, you need to

1:27:41

just just relax. Like, the Link's

1:27:43

trust is the caretaker of

1:27:44

this. They're they're doing the best that

1:27:46

they can with this. I don't give a shit.

1:27:49

Yeah. That's that's do you think they put this out

1:27:51

for a bit, like, that the the the

1:27:53

Murphy brothers from the down the road and

1:27:55

seeing others get to do the

1:27:57

assessment about what they thought it would

1:27:59

cost. can't imagine the the paces

1:28:01

that they would have gone through to source

1:28:03

the stone to take bids. See, like,

1:28:06

if there's one thing, like, the link stress

1:28:08

and the RNA and all that are

1:28:09

that they're not gonna do. There's three very

1:28:11

different things though.

1:28:12

Well, true, true, true. But even still, I

1:28:14

I don't think they're they're gonna go through

1:28:16

the paces here, and and it's gonna

1:28:19

be very, very, very well thought out, which which

1:28:21

almost I hate to say this for our friends at

1:28:23

The Link's Trust, but almost makes it funnier. But,

1:28:25

like, that, you know, you

1:28:28

you it's just it's I don't know.

1:28:30

If you're gonna let it if you're gonna let it ruin your

1:28:32

day, I think I think you need to reassess your It's so

1:28:34

obvious, but it is very

1:28:35

funny, and it does look very bad. He should

1:28:37

have, like, not closed the old Tom

1:28:39

Moore like, the Tom Morris golf shop

1:28:42

there right next to eighteen Green.

1:28:44

Like, there's other stuff that they've done that's, like,

1:28:46

in not keeping with the tradition

1:28:48

of the

1:28:48

place. Yeah. I I don't know. It's

1:28:51

just You could just make it like pebbles too.

1:28:53

I mean, it's not like there's someone who's getting a lie off of

1:28:55

almost like it was laying up short of the bridge there

1:28:57

to, you know, attack the eighteenth century.

1:28:59

Like, all they're doing is, like, extending out

1:29:01

the muddy area. Too. Right? Like, people

1:29:04

are just gonna like, there's a bunch of people that

1:29:06

are standing around that, like, waiting to

1:29:08

take pictures. It's just gonna extend the area

1:29:10

out. So I don't know.

1:29:13

Soly's, anything this week in James Hahn?

1:29:16

Land? No. Saw him a few

1:29:18

times in passing and player dining. Did

1:29:20

you say hi? Did not say hi. The ball's in his

1:29:22

court. I've I've I've sent a request for him to come on

1:29:24

the podcast and he's not replied. So

1:29:26

I think the ball's in his court, but I wasn't

1:29:28

I wasn't, like, like, the spot for, like, hey,

1:29:31

I've given you a lot of shit on Twitter. I hope we could

1:29:33

laugh about it and would still would love to have you on the pod.

1:29:35

You know, as he's preparing for professional events. So

1:29:37

I got backed down by James Harden. You could say that.

1:29:40

That's

1:29:40

fun. So I I took a little bit of

1:29:42

spin through his Twitter just in anticipation of this.

1:29:44

Not a lot of activity in the actual tweeting,

1:29:47

but a lot of likes of, like, Elon Musk tweets

1:29:49

and tweets defending Patrick

1:29:51

Reid. So about what you'd

1:29:53

expect I think I would say that

1:29:55

the segment probably ruins the segment because

1:29:58

I'm guessing that it's probably gonna be the end

1:30:00

of a lot of his tweets that are quite controversial.

1:30:02

Unfortunate, but he's he

1:30:05

may have logged off very much so.

1:30:07

I saw we have Patrick Reed's

1:30:09

statement was made this week in response

1:30:11

to the tree fiasco in

1:30:14

Dubai last

1:30:14

year. Did did you not read this? This

1:30:17

was this was a let's

1:30:19

get back to golf, guys. This

1:30:21

was a I don't man,

1:30:25

don't know where to start. He he

1:30:27

posted an Instagram of a text

1:30:30

message of a state. That

1:30:32

was that he sent to

1:30:34

like, it was NLU. So, like, he sent it to

1:30:36

somebody else. Right? Or somebody like,

1:30:38

if somebody sent it to him, it would've been gray.

1:30:41

So I don't know who's

1:30:43

I don't know whose phone this

1:30:45

is from. I think Justin texted

1:30:47

it to him, but also said, like, screenshot

1:30:49

it and texted him to screenshot

1:30:51

allegedly. Like This is all. All.

1:30:54

All. All. Of course. And it

1:30:56

starts with some people love controversy,

1:30:58

says the guy who's wife

1:31:00

allegedly has a burner account that

1:31:02

goes off goes after many,

1:31:04

many, many, many other of the the game's top

1:31:06

players. Allegedly. But what

1:31:08

happened at the seventeenth hole at the Hero

1:31:10

Dubai Desert Classic was a non

1:31:12

issue.

1:31:12

Oh, yeah. mean, don't even need to read the reservoir.

1:31:15

Of course. As the DP world tour

1:31:17

confirmed, I was not asked to identify

1:31:19

the tree my boss struck. That was done by the

1:31:21

shot like volunteers. In several

1:31:23

Marshals, he doesn't say this, but they're probably jiggling

1:31:25

change in their pocket as well. I

1:31:27

was asked to describe the distinctive markings

1:31:29

on the ball I was playing. I am

1:31:31

looking forward to this week's Asian tour flagship

1:31:34

event at Royal Greeds, which

1:31:37

is such a fucking dystopia.

1:31:39

It's that it's if I may, just

1:31:41

kinda break this down. He's he

1:31:43

is saying just in the most non,

1:31:46

you know, admission of guilt denial ever

1:31:49

the volunteers told me what

1:31:51

tree it was in. All they told me to do was, like, identify

1:31:53

the specifics markings on my ball, which

1:31:56

I did completely ignoring the fact

1:31:58

that there's video evidence of his ball going into

1:32:00

a different

1:32:00

tree. He

1:32:01

also said that it's a hundred percent mine. It's definitely

1:32:03

mine. Yeah. It's hundred percent of ball.

1:32:06

I don't know if we talked about this

1:32:08

last week, but I don't know how you don't just pull another ball

1:32:10

out of your bag and just say, like, see, here's

1:32:12

how I mark my

1:32:13

ball. It's the same as that.

1:32:14

How will they

1:32:15

not put a bucket truck truck up in

1:32:17

the tree?

1:32:18

Let's see

1:32:19

if that falls up there.

1:32:21

I think

1:32:21

you just wanted to go away. Yeah.

1:32:23

Yep. That's every everyone involved in the tournament

1:32:25

would just prefer that it's This is

1:32:26

a European Tour event. Why isn't the European

1:32:28

Tour? Like, they have no have no allegiance to

1:32:30

Patrick read at this point. Well,

1:32:33

I think the I think that's Rose official

1:32:36

Jack and Patrick. The Rose official bungled it.

1:32:38

And,

1:32:38

like, that's, like, they had to, like, cover.

1:32:41

It was so soft. Honestly, the the rules

1:32:43

official ought to, like, own

1:32:45

how soft that that there was. Like,

1:32:47

that's where the I get that Patrique is

1:32:49

gonna try to do what Patrique is gonna

1:32:51

try to do to, like flirt with the very letter

1:32:53

and spirit of the law. But the rules officials

1:32:55

cannot just sort of roll over and

1:32:58

be

1:32:58

like, well, okay, if you say it's a hundred percent your

1:33:00

ball, look good for you. Let's

1:33:01

just let's get back to the golf. I think we

1:33:03

can all look crazy. It's crazy

1:33:05

to me. In his statement, he says, I was

1:33:07

not asked to identify the tree my

1:33:10

ball struck. I was asked

1:33:12

to describe the distinctive markings on the

1:33:14

ball I was playing. Like and and he doesn't say

1:33:16

I saw that ball up in the tree through the binoculars

1:33:18

or anything like that.

1:33:19

But he did that. It's a hundred percent my bowl. So

1:33:21

TC, you got anything on on Bubba

1:33:24

saying everyone knows the aces?

1:33:27

That was great this week. Mean, cool.

1:33:29

And my my Michael Lorenzo Vera

1:33:32

had a great tweet in

1:33:34

response to all the read stuff. Again,

1:33:37

this is Michael Lorenzo Vira's words, not

1:33:39

my words. He said, I just

1:33:41

don't understand how players stay silent

1:33:44

after being robbed one spot by someone

1:33:46

that cheated. Fantastic golf

1:33:48

player, but Reid fucking cheated.

1:33:51

Four exclamation

1:33:52

points. How can you identify one

1:33:54

hundred percent something very specific on your

1:33:56

ball that is not in the tree? Three

1:33:59

question marks. How is the guy

1:34:01

not DQ4 question marks.

1:34:04

But let's just throw in a legend in there in

1:34:06

case any confusion that it was someone else's tweet

1:34:08

you're reading. Allegedly you're reading in someone else's

1:34:10

tweet.

1:34:11

Yeah. I'm in on over punctuation too,

1:34:13

by the way. Michael,

1:34:14

on the other side, man. You know? Yeah. Ditch,

1:34:17

could you read Shane and Ryan's tweet about

1:34:19

the the four races? Because it's just

1:34:21

it really I enjoyed it. Yeah. This was

1:34:23

one of my one of my favorite tweets in the week. This is NLU

1:34:26

the context, you probably heard about it by now,

1:34:28

but this was Bubba's infamous quote about

1:34:30

how he was having a

1:34:32

a conversation with his son watching

1:34:35

watching the gulf and his son likes

1:34:37

the aces because he also likes the yankees

1:34:39

and the Chiefs. And all these other teams. And

1:34:41

that was the moment when the light really went off for

1:34:43

Bubba that, like, TeamGolf is gonna be

1:34:45

a thing. You know, my son

1:34:48

can really wrap his head around it. Ten year olds all

1:34:50

over the world are gonna love the aces. Everyone

1:34:52

knows the aces because they

1:34:54

just keep winning everything. And Shane

1:34:56

Ryan, I've appreciate it in between this.

1:35:00

I don't expect a lot of sympathy for this, but

1:35:02

a hard part of being a golf writer is telling

1:35:04

people what you do, and it'd be immediately

1:35:06

hit with questions about the aces. Quote,

1:35:09

do you know the aces? Have you met the aces?

1:35:11

Can the aces win again? Golf

1:35:13

is about more than the aces folks. Just

1:35:17

I I feel like Shane Rise lead it back into being

1:35:19

an expert troll, which I think is is

1:35:21

where he he really

1:35:22

thrives. His Twitter faces. Literally,

1:35:25

like, hey. If this makes DJ Pie laugh, that's

1:35:27

that's a success. I don't care if fifty thousand

1:35:29

people will be confused by this. If it makes

1:35:31

DJ laugh, I'm gonna tweet

1:35:33

it. That's I think it might be right.

1:35:35

It's just god. Right in my right

1:35:37

in my Q zone. Bubba also

1:35:39

shouted out the stingers as

1:35:40

well. He knew the aces. He knew

1:35:42

the stingers. Talking about his son. I think

1:35:44

this is after Bubba had, like, was already in

1:35:46

the he

1:35:47

was already leaked in one of the promos. Like, he

1:35:49

clearly

1:35:49

already

1:35:50

signed his contract to be part of Lyft.

1:35:51

Bumble was recruited players a year ago

1:35:54

in Saudi to play for Lyft.

1:35:57

Yeah. And

1:35:58

then Bubba, there was there was a headline as

1:36:00

well. Bubba Watson to beg Jay

1:36:02

Monahan for a chance to play in the P and

1:36:04

C. The live golf players desperate

1:36:07

to play in the tournament for the sake

1:36:08

of his son. And,

1:36:11

like, why can't Lyft just host their own, like, father's

1:36:13

son? I know, like, with custody schedules

1:36:15

might be difficult to work out with all the divorces that's

1:36:17

going

1:36:17

on, but, like, you know, you could you could definitely

1:36:20

feel like Live could have their own father's son. It sounds like

1:36:22

they might be hosting couple of their own Oh,

1:36:24

NLU wanna do that? I don't

1:36:26

know. I just I I saw it a little the

1:36:28

rumor float around about a a gust

1:36:31

of land purchase that was I don't know

1:36:33

if if that was reputable or not reputable

1:36:35

or if you guys have any more information on that. But

1:36:37

Sounds very reputable. Just like, I I think

1:36:39

the core Crenshaw element of it was not

1:36:41

reputable. Right? Yeah. There's a okay. So just

1:36:44

a block of land just north

1:36:46

of Augusta National that allegedly between three

1:36:48

hundred fifty and four hundred acres that allegedly live

1:36:51

has is either under contract on or has

1:36:53

purchased or is thinking about purchasing

1:36:55

or something like that to build their own

1:36:57

golf course and host an event again,

1:36:59

maybe allegedly, either before or after the

1:37:01

masters, which I

1:37:04

saw the rumor floating around on some various

1:37:06

tracker adjacent accounts. He had

1:37:08

also heard it from somebody at

1:37:10

somebody somewhat local to

1:37:12

the situation when I was here at the tournament

1:37:15

this week that, like, kinda knew some

1:37:17

some facts behind the scenes that were, whoa,

1:37:19

or alleged facts behind the

1:37:21

scenes. They were like, okay. Well, that's very specific. So

1:37:23

maybe they could is that something there?

1:37:25

Is the

1:37:26

thought then that they're just gonna, like, build their own Augusta

1:37:28

National and host their own, like, fake masters?

1:37:30

That sounds

1:37:31

honestly, I'm extremely cool

1:37:34

man. I have

1:37:35

way ahead on

1:37:35

this. Like, this is this is gonna be awesome if that

1:37:37

is the case. Like, they should

1:37:38

just play it at that place we played in Myrtle Beach to have

1:37:41

the replica holes. That's

1:37:42

why it's gotta say

1:37:43

it. And it's got a smoking bridge, you know,

1:37:45

with no small sack. It's

1:37:48

got the real smoking bridge, but the unit

1:37:50

unit

1:37:50

smoking bridge. I

1:37:52

will say, like, some of our people are

1:37:54

are people familiar with the area, Boat.

1:37:57

Right? Was, like, dude, the the area that has been

1:37:59

circled on this, like, map here is, like,

1:38:01

thousands of I don't know that this

1:38:03

is quite nailed

1:38:05

down, journalistically, that the way that people think it. Yeah.

1:38:07

I was talking to some people too. They were like, yeah,

1:38:09

like like the land cost on this unless the

1:38:11

person selling this land just got the best deal

1:38:13

ever. Like, they're they're paying, like,

1:38:16

fourteen x what an acre should

1:38:18

cost in that area. So That's

1:38:22

On an on a stay win it in

1:38:24

Saudi? Yeah. He he he won it in Saudi?

1:38:26

Done. Oh, by two over

1:38:28

Kim Young. Lucas Herbert

1:38:30

finished third. I'm I'm not sure how he

1:38:32

has not gone to live yet and

1:38:36

saw them. Saw them finishing

1:38:38

fourth in the Middle East. Which one?

1:38:41

Yeah. Which one? Yeah. That's true. As always, we don't

1:38:43

know if it's ever. Or one of his

1:38:45

lookalikes. Yeah.

1:38:47

I I legitimately honestly forgot Saudi.

1:38:49

It was existing this week, and I saw

1:38:52

not one shot from it. One

1:38:54

of their thesis all this week was, like, oh, if Cameron Young,

1:38:56

one, you guys would have been slurping it. It was, like,

1:38:58

really, totally. Yeah. For sure. Definitely.

1:39:01

We were really high out here on

1:39:03

Vardego. And before he left for Lid last year, what did

1:39:05

he want? And that was awesome. That was

1:39:06

you know, that could could change everything. You celebrate?

1:39:09

We had We had MCs for

1:39:12

Nicholson, Kam, Bubba,

1:39:15

Bryson, DJWD

1:39:18

It's a part seventy, a Royal Greens. I feel like

1:39:21

they're playing a lot of golfers. No. This is T. C.

1:39:23

Move on. But, you know, wait. People

1:39:25

were saying Royal Greens.

1:39:28

Agustas, of course, seventy two, we know

1:39:30

this. Okay? Yeah.

1:39:31

Bro bro, green shit of a smoking bridge.

1:39:34

Maybe maybe the Saudis buy the smoking

1:39:36

bridge and and repatriated

1:39:37

Two is

1:39:38

air lift. Next, you're gonna tell me the eighteen year old

1:39:40

jeans

1:39:40

is a par five. TC, we know this. Okay?

1:39:42

Let's move on. Well, I'm telling you, Sally, how can I

1:39:44

take this series? Nobody shot over seventy

1:39:47

two on Sunday, which is

1:39:48

nuts. It's crazy. No one ever

1:39:50

does on Sunday at Royal Greens. It's they have

1:39:52

easy pins in. All of Sunday pins -- Yeah.

1:39:54

-- get a ball in Royal

1:39:55

Green.

1:39:55

guys. All the all the emaciated players.

1:39:58

You know, he's one of the worst worst worst worst worst worst worst

1:40:00

worst worst worst worst. I don't know. Man, that was a

1:40:03

very weird look. Very, very weird

1:40:05

look. He was Yeah.

1:40:07

Looked very looked very gaunt, but

1:40:10

talking about how he was down to his, what do

1:40:12

you say, high school weight or college weight? Was

1:40:15

fighting weight was fighting weight and was just

1:40:18

very bullish on his game. He keeps teasing,

1:40:20

you know, all this vindication that's gonna be coming

1:40:23

out everything's

1:40:25

gonna be justified. Just wait. Just wait.

1:40:27

Just wait. Before looking at the facts,

1:40:29

it's it's still missed the cut in

1:40:31

Saudi Arabia this

1:40:32

week. That's

1:40:33

that's just Wait. Wait. Just

1:40:35

wait.

1:40:36

Yeah. They're banking on more duels in,

1:40:38

I guess, European tour events. With

1:40:41

PGA tour guys. He had a he had a

1:40:43

sick tweet about, you

1:40:45

know, if there was a rider cut between

1:40:47

live and p j tour,

1:40:49

like, the PJA tour wouldn't wouldn't allow

1:40:52

it because they would crush the PJA tour guys

1:40:54

so badly.

1:40:55

Yeah. There's one thing I think about with Phil. It's

1:40:57

just writer cup business. Right. I just

1:41:00

I guess ass kicking in the writer

1:41:01

cup. He does so much of that. What so

1:41:04

I this is not on the agenda, but

1:41:06

people kind of laugh when I threw this out that maybe

1:41:08

the Live Guys would not get Champions

1:41:10

dinner invites at the masters. Like,

1:41:13

wouldn't it be weird as fuck if they did

1:41:15

get invites? Like, who of

1:41:17

the of the current guys would wanna sit down with

1:41:19

those guys and act like everything was fine at dinner?

1:41:21

Like, with Patrick Reed and Phil,

1:41:23

Like, isn't that like, wouldn't that

1:41:25

you're talking about? Which of the live

1:41:26

guys? Like, oh, all of Yeah. For sure.

1:41:28

All all of them would wanna pretend like that. For

1:41:30

sure. But which, like, of the active players

1:41:32

on the PGA Tour would wanna do that. And

1:41:34

I'm guessing that the Augusta is gonna rather defer

1:41:37

to them than

1:41:38

I don't know. I think we could be due for some drama for

1:41:40

that dinner.

1:41:41

I know the guy

1:41:42

It's kinda a fair dinner. Right? It's not

1:41:44

like the club's dinner. It's like their dinner.

1:41:46

I know Jack's got a lot of soddy --

1:41:48

Yeah. -- you know, golf of course, it's gonna

1:41:50

be gonna be talking best practices from rogue

1:41:52

groups.

1:41:52

God, Gary, players gonna try to mend all the We

1:41:54

need to come together

1:41:56

for sure enough of this fighting.

1:41:59

Both sides. Both sides

1:42:01

stick here. We had some other

1:42:03

random torn news. The

1:42:05

tour is is is trying to ban non

1:42:08

members from playing in unauthorized

1:42:10

events? I

1:42:10

didn't read this story. I gotta I need to catch

1:42:12

up.

1:42:12

Haven't they already done that? Like, with OgleTree

1:42:14

and things like that? I

1:42:16

think Ogle Tree was like He was

1:42:17

a corn fairytale member. Yeah. He was like a conditional

1:42:20

corn fairytale guy. So it'd

1:42:22

be like, you know, guys that are that are

1:42:24

PJ Tore you even stuff

1:42:26

like that. So I'm assuming, like, the

1:42:28

the kid that goes to Arkansas, It

1:42:31

seems to live adjacent, stuff like that.

1:42:35

Yeah. I don't know. Seems it seems

1:42:37

not particularly legal

1:42:38

game, but That was that was

1:42:39

my first thought too. They

1:42:41

seem to be picking a few fights that are like, whoa

1:42:43

shit guys. Like, that that doesn't seem like the

1:42:46

the way to go

1:42:47

here. Like, I I got

1:42:48

here kinda with you when it comes to the top players that

1:42:50

have agreed to, like, participate in

1:42:52

this, you know, pooled media rights

1:42:54

thing. But, yeah, I don't know about nonmembers. That seems

1:42:56

not right. Yeah. The

1:42:59

match play, this will be the last year in

1:43:01

Austin. Sounds like it was kind of a

1:43:03

a shit show from a sponsorship

1:43:05

perspective. Dell hasn't been too keen

1:43:07

on the the match play element.

1:43:10

There

1:43:11

was a there was a of the match play.

1:43:14

Hard to feel too equipped to be for

1:43:16

that one for that one. Like, maybe

1:43:18

you could read read the brochure a little bit.

1:43:20

Oh, I guess that one. guess

1:43:22

that I guess they put forth

1:43:25

the idea of playing stroke player for the last thirty

1:43:27

six

1:43:27

Soly's. In in all case, you

1:43:29

said, well, what the fuck would you call it?

1:43:32

Yeah. It's been a

1:43:34

bit of champion. And but, yeah, it sounds like it was

1:43:36

kind of a like, they were trying to bring in Intel as,

1:43:38

like, a presenting sponsor as well. And then

1:43:41

The club sounds like there's just a lot of dynamics

1:43:43

at at Austin Country Club as well

1:43:45

where they they weren't too keen on

1:43:47

having the event and So the

1:43:49

total what radio silent on them

1:43:52

was the quote. And yeah.

1:43:54

So sounds like it's not the end of

1:43:56

the match play. It is it's the last gas

1:43:58

for the

1:43:59

WGCs, though. Okay. As we know them,

1:44:01

you know. Alright. And I'll we've

1:44:03

hinted at this, and again, we don't don't think

1:44:05

we know anything more than what we've hinted, but,

1:44:07

like, don't be surprised if the schedule looks

1:44:10

drastically drastically

1:44:12

different next year. I know we not even just talking

1:44:14

about the elevated events or designated. I'm so

1:44:16

sorry, T. C. But,

1:44:18

like, could be drastically different. And,

1:44:20

like, some stuff might just fall by the wayside. What

1:44:23

would be the ideal match play course to

1:44:25

put it

1:44:25

up? I like that course for a match play. I

1:44:27

mean, it was really good for yesterday. Yeah. I thought

1:44:29

it was really good. I mean, Barry,

1:44:32

can't do this, but TPC sawgrass for

1:44:34

any kind of match play event would be so

1:44:36

sick.

1:44:36

Why can't you do that?

1:44:38

I just you're not gonna do the players and

1:44:40

another

1:44:40

Why why why not? I'll challenge you on that.

1:44:42

Why not?

1:44:43

Because it's there's only one gold standard, man.

1:44:46

This is our tournament. An overseas one

1:44:48

in a in a

1:44:48

Bermuda match play. I would be like I

1:44:51

did on that. Pretty sweet. Like, even

1:44:53

on 640 article,

1:44:55

there was a quote in there from somebody of, like, yeah,

1:44:57

like, the thing about twenty twenty three schedule is

1:44:59

it just gets us to twenty twenty

1:45:01

four. Like, it sounds like it's gonna be -- Yep. -- radically

1:45:03

different. Hopefully, sounds like I think in

1:45:06

Adam Shubak wrote the match play story. Right? I'm

1:45:08

remembering right. I I thought he said the Houston

1:45:10

event was slotting into that place on

1:45:12

the schedule, which to your question,

1:45:14

KBV, I'd like well,

1:45:17

why not just make that the match

1:45:18

play? I think that would actually be kind of sick.

1:45:20

That could, of course, be fun. Jim Crane.

1:45:23

Yeah. That's

1:45:23

that's Stroud's boy. Right? Solid? Yeah. That's exactly

1:45:25

right. He was here this week, Crane. I did not get to rub

1:45:27

elbows with him, unfortunately. There's an LPGA

1:45:31

All Access Soly's. Saw that coming

1:45:33

out. So we could probably talk about that in

1:45:35

the context of the Netflix thing as

1:45:37

well.

1:45:37

couple of weeks when we'll do that. Queue

1:45:40

School, moving to SAGRAS Country

1:45:42

Club in in the Dye Valley

1:45:44

course at TBC

1:45:45

SAGRAS. Think that's cool news.

1:45:48

Our

1:45:48

neck of the woods, T. C. Bring

1:45:50

it back to you. We should try to find APC.

1:45:52

That'd be sick. Just trying to qualify.

1:45:54

Sorry. You hit that three

1:45:55

wood. So they let

1:45:57

me play as

1:45:58

a four ball. Sorry. Ride that wave. Probably.

1:46:00

Can I pick up with my partners in the hole?

1:46:04

It's Grand Folgers. Yeah. We're

1:46:06

just just just just closing out the notebook

1:46:09

here. Ryan Palmer won the mister Palmer award.

1:46:11

It's it's actually it's actually the the Arnie

1:46:13

award. Just tired of this. Which seems incredibly

1:46:16

disrespectful. Except for the

1:46:17

golf is just insane. And

1:46:19

Ryan Palmer's grandson was in a playoff on the coronary

1:46:21

tour. He was

1:46:22

He blisters. Flip

1:46:25

flips on your son. I

1:46:26

think that was son. His son. It's

1:46:28

her husband.

1:46:29

Yeah.

1:46:30

He Oh, oh. He lost a beer. Whips on hers.

1:46:32

He lost beer. Whips on

1:46:33

hers. Whips on

1:46:35

hers. Fucking people up. Yeah.

1:46:37

The cut on corn failure was plus

1:46:39

three. Minus three was got into

1:46:41

a playoff. Shit. This was down in

1:46:43

Panama. This was going to Columbia this week.

1:46:47

Conditions must have been really fucking tough.

1:46:49

So

1:46:51

and and that's all I got. Not to punt this

1:46:53

to the very end, Kevin, but you know, you

1:46:55

had a wonderful first opening column,

1:46:58

your first writing with no laying up, and you made

1:47:00

an enormous career decision to come

1:47:03

you know, make jokes about Saddam Hussein

1:47:05

on the nolong up podcast. Like,

1:47:08

talk us through that decision. Are you are you how

1:47:10

do 640 feel like a few days ahead about

1:47:11

this? Feel pretty good. Every boy's

1:47:14

dream is to write for, you

1:47:15

know, a a place that hasn't published anywhere

1:47:18

close in, you know,

1:47:19

couple years. Little total sandbox

1:47:21

for you, man. Yeah. It was, like, do you want

1:47:23

everyone to ask

1:47:24

the the Ashley Bugge DeVe, GP

1:47:26

Vonage. Article on my journalism

1:47:29

skills. Okay. Oh, no one else said that

1:47:30

story but me. Also, don't look that

1:47:32

up. No.

1:47:35

I I am really proud to

1:47:38

be working with y'all. It's it's

1:47:41

it's been a fun week so far just

1:47:45

being in behind the curtain and

1:47:47

laughing at the same stuff

1:47:49

and, you know, again,

1:47:52

I I'm grateful for all the

1:47:54

people who out there who you

1:47:56

know, welcome to me in and then just

1:47:58

make me already feel like I was part of the

1:48:00

community and stuff. And we're we're gonna

1:48:03

gonna have some fun stuff this year. We're gonna

1:48:05

write a lot about a lot of cool shit. I'm gonna

1:48:07

go to a lot of, you know, all the

1:48:09

majors and some of the other big tournaments. And

1:48:11

think, you know, I'll be at Rivera next

1:48:14

next week, and so have some on

1:48:17

the ground insight from there. And

1:48:19

Dijin and I have talked about some cool

1:48:21

narrative pods and I know there'll be more

1:48:24

of the look back kinda deep

1:48:26

dive pods that Sally and I were doing that people seem

1:48:28

to love and So we got lots of fun

1:48:30

stuff

1:48:31

coming. And I just wanted to give a shout out as well

1:48:33

to everyone that has supported us over the

1:48:35

years, nest members that have supported

1:48:37

us and kind of helped our business

1:48:39

grow to the point where we are

1:48:42

able to make a move like this and to bring Kevin

1:48:44

NLU the fold. And continue to

1:48:46

provide. That that just that kind of stuff just

1:48:48

goes right back into the company and into the content

1:48:50

and into what has made this thing successful.

1:48:53

And we we owe it to to everyone that's support

1:48:55

us at every step. And that includes you.

1:48:57

Kevin, like, you were just an incredible supporter

1:48:59

of us from back all the way back to twenty

1:49:01

fifteen when I had no idea why an ESPN journalist

1:49:03

was like following us on Twitter and we sparked

1:49:06

a friendship and it has led

1:49:08

to this and we are incredibly excited

1:49:10

and thankful to have you aboard and there's

1:49:12

some amazing things to I really do think so.

1:49:14

So that did more announcements for the year,

1:49:16

by the way. We had a lot to come in the first

1:49:19

couple months here, but I think that's kind of it. They're

1:49:21

like, what's next? Like, do, like, titleized?

1:49:24

Do the j t thing? We have Katie. I guess a

1:49:26

lot. Alright? Let's let's just let

1:49:27

us get no rhythm here. The the hot stove

1:49:29

is the hot stove is cooling -- Yeah. -- now

1:49:31

at at this point. Someday, I'll

1:49:33

tell the story about how two days after meeting

1:49:35

saw I I to get him up for golf at

1:49:38

five AM to go play the Castlehurst in

1:49:40

St. Anders, and he

1:49:41

just wasn't having it. Apparently, he'd

1:49:43

he'd read Doke's confidential guide and was like, fuck

1:49:45

the Castlehurst. I'm

1:49:46

up. I get out of bed for this. I

1:49:48

have accepted so much slander for this.

1:49:51

I only missed our tea time by eight hours.

1:49:53

That's so unfair. Like, I got out of bed

1:49:55

at two PM. I was so close. We almost

1:49:57

did it.

1:49:59

It's pretty wild that, like, you know, to

1:50:01

open up Twitter or Instagram or

1:50:03

whatever and, like, menacoms and

1:50:06

write thompson

1:50:06

and, like, like,

1:50:09

big capital j journalists

1:50:11

or, like, heavyweights of this beta. Is

1:50:13

pretty pretty surreal. Yeah. We

1:50:15

we have hired a European senior writer

1:50:18

away from

1:50:18

them. Like, man, that's cool.

1:50:21

So It was cool. But and also, like, it's

1:50:23

credit to you guys that no one was like, what the fuck?

1:50:25

Yeah. You even

1:50:27

my parents were like, no. This makes

1:50:28

sense. Like, you know, this is cool. Like, I know

1:50:31

this has been what you've been interested in for

1:50:33

quite a while. So that was those And I

1:50:35

I think, you know, if Neil was here, he would

1:50:37

be prodding us to promote I

1:50:39

think we're gonna have Kevin on the NEST podcast

1:50:42

in the coming probably weeks,

1:50:44

coming days, coming weeks. I don't really know when you guys

1:50:46

are recording that, but Best members,

1:50:49

that's a it's a extra podcast we do every

1:50:51

month for them. Some

1:50:53

of Kevin's writing is going to for

1:50:55

Nest members only, I think there's a lot of people who are like,

1:50:57

well, I really enjoyed, you know, hearing

1:50:59

Kevin reading Kevin right about football

1:51:02

and it's like, well, he wrote a Tom Brady thing.

1:51:04

This week about his retirement. That that was I

1:51:06

think that one was actually open to everybody. But in the future,

1:51:08

those would be for for NASA members. So

1:51:11

knowing up dot com slash join if if you're

1:51:13

interested. And to be clear, his golf content

1:51:15

is gonna be where we

1:51:16

publish it. It's

1:51:17

all gonna be front of a table. Although, we're not throwing KBV

1:51:19

behind the table, but he's gonna do some bonus stuff. Behind

1:51:21

the paywall. So That's true. And we're gonna

1:51:23

have a biweekly mailbags

1:51:26

that if you're a Nest member, you can ask a

1:51:29

a question about literally anything, and I

1:51:31

will answer it in the mailbag for the

1:51:33

larger audience. And I've been

1:51:36

born through those already. So if you're

1:51:38

desperate to ask a question

1:51:41

about the literally anything. I will

1:51:43

answer it because I've been picking through some some

1:51:45

weirdo ones that use sickos already.

1:51:47

And think we got a good good fun

1:51:49

one. Look for that later this week. And then just looking

1:51:51

back at content this week, Zalatore's,

1:51:54

you know, you pod

1:51:57

Ociferously supported

1:51:59

the eye test,

1:52:00

which I thought was really really cool. In, like,

1:52:02

one little thing that wasn't even about

1:52:04

like, ignoring statistics. Like, you you're trying

1:52:07

too hard. The lady doesn't protest too much

1:52:09

here.

1:52:09

Listen. You people go listen to you

1:52:12

can

1:52:12

Hey. You can give me the test. You give me the I you can use

1:52:14

the ear test on that one. Speaking

1:52:17

of the I test, KTV, PUSH, Randy

1:52:19

and I got together for the NFL.

1:52:21

Stabil.

1:52:23

And I just had a lot

1:52:25

of a lot of Eagles fans coming at me

1:52:27

that sort of

1:52:30

thing. And then we posted the cabin

1:52:32

dish film room over

1:52:34

from Lanai as well.

1:52:36

And upcoming,

1:52:39

TC or sorry, Randy and I are shopping

1:52:41

this week. Got a guest pod

1:52:43

on NLU up on Wednesday, and

1:52:45

then we're working ahead for week

1:52:48

of the

1:52:48

fourteenth, we're gonna do a big

1:52:51

review of the Netflix full swing.

1:52:53

We're gonna

1:52:53

be the only ones doing that. Only podcast

1:52:55

goes for sure.

1:52:57

Oh, don't go go anywhere else except for

1:52:59

us. Yeah.

1:53:00

Anyway and we've got AJT stinky

1:53:02

Jordan film room directors coming up.

1:53:05

Right? Yeah. Kinda something we haven't

1:53:07

really ever done before. I guess, probably more

1:53:09

like a reaction video that if I was gonna

1:53:11

use horrible term than than

1:53:13

a director's cut, but basically just there was lot

1:53:15

that got left on the cutting room floor. So I wanted

1:53:17

to get Soly's and Neil

1:53:20

kinda back in the booth and just

1:53:23

really dig into a couple of specific

1:53:25

moments and play some more audio that didn't

1:53:27

make it and stuff like

1:53:28

that. So that'll be that'll be coming out this week

1:53:30

too. And then last thing is

1:53:32

just the the sweetens our

1:53:35

our our house at sweetens. We've got passes

1:53:38

going live this Friday. Six

1:53:40

PM, eastern, five PM central

1:53:43

time, you can get guaranteed

1:53:45

passes when you book the

1:53:46

house, which is kind of game changer for that place.

1:53:49

Been tough to get passes the last few years.

1:53:51

So Like I say, I I'm

1:53:53

tempted to book some passes, you know, to get down there.

1:53:55

My wife's gonna graduate from Vanderbilt to doctorate

1:53:57

program soon, and wanna go down there

1:53:59

and play Sweden's love at it. Play maybe play without the

1:54:02

shanks, which I had massively last time I played

1:54:04

Sweden. So Was

1:54:05

that where you're at the club throw?

1:54:06

No. That was black three. No. That was well, that was

1:54:08

a black three. Black three.

1:54:11

Yeah. Many many people have been saying it's been it's

1:54:13

been five years since the historic Thursday

1:54:15

up. The committee was talking about maybe

1:54:17

re you know

1:54:18

It's

1:54:18

like the eddy. Yeah. Exactly. Maybe getting

1:54:21

everybody in the muds out if they watched this

1:54:23

face for further information. Question

1:54:26

for you guys real quick. Do you think there's gonna

1:54:28

be any, like because we got the Phoenix event this

1:54:30

week. Is it gonna feel different?

1:54:33

I think I think this one's gonna feel different. I think this

1:54:35

is the first one. I'm gonna go out for the first three days

1:54:37

of the tournament, I think, and just kinda

1:54:39

soak up what I can. And and I didn't

1:54:41

think Kapalu felt like different, and I think this

1:54:43

one probably will. I'm hoping it does because I think

1:54:45

if

1:54:46

not, there's some serious problems going on.

1:54:48

So but I think it'll feel different. Do

1:54:50

you? I do. Yeah. I think it you

1:54:52

know, and it's super full week there too. Yeah. It's gonna

1:54:54

be,

1:54:55

like, in madhouse. I mean, that's yeah.

1:54:57

And and it's the trophy his son too.

1:55:00

Two. Not another rossal come

1:55:02

out. Not the rossal come out

1:55:04

too. I

1:55:07

wanted to say, just closing, thank you to that

1:55:09

many most people were out to see Bill Murray, but the

1:55:11

few NLU fans that were out there and vests and

1:55:13

hats and things like that, a big thank you. And for

1:55:16

all the tremendous nice messages we got this

1:55:18

week on supporting the the fun

1:55:20

week I had and for you guys for supporting

1:55:22

it. And it was just a true

1:55:24

true true thrilled. And thanks for putting up with my stories.

1:55:26

And not let me go too far down

1:55:28

the leader board on on some of my shots. I got it.

1:55:31

If you wanna hear about it, we no. We t

1:55:33

twelve, we made the cut, didn't get to play the five

1:55:36

rounds. So I do think I probably have a rain

1:55:38

check somewhere to play Pebble, I would assume.

1:55:40

So I'll be taking the attorney up

1:55:42

on that whenever I get a

1:55:43

chance. But Well,

1:55:45

congrats all happy for you. That was that was

1:55:47

very fun to follow along. I know that was a that was

1:55:49

a big one. That was that was a blast of And

1:55:51

then Thanks, everyone, for tuning in. We will

1:55:54

see you back here at this time next week to recap

1:55:57

the waste management. It's we were originally

1:55:59

tees that we were gonna be going live it's gonna

1:56:01

be during the Super Bowl, so we're not gonna go live.

1:56:03

We're gonna do a regular podcast. It'll be up

1:56:06

for Monday of next week. But everyone

1:56:08

enjoy the week, enjoy Super Bowl week, and see

1:56:10

back here next week. Cheers.

1:56:14

Get a ride club. I beat a ride club

1:56:16

today. Yes.

1:56:20

Money, that's better

1:56:22

than most. How about

1:56:25

him? That is better than most.

1:56:28

Better than most.

1:56:34

Expect anything different?
