does the Bible say about demons?

Uh, the first couple things I want to go over is

the fact that demons exist,

right there is a physical world that we experience

on a day to day basis, but there's also

a spiritual world that we experience

1:33

on a day to day basis, whether we realize

1:35

it or not. And that's kind

1:37

of what we're going to talk about today. I know there are many

1:39

people even. If they're not Christians, if

1:42

they believe in the supernatural, or we're

1:44

not going to be talking about ghosts and stuff like that

1:46

today, right? That's not going to be the, same thing. the topic of conversation.

Uh, we're not gonna be talking about the people who claim that they

1:51

can contact those who have passed

1:53

away and, and, you know, read your Palm.

1:56

And all. we're not gonna talk about none of that stuff. We're

1:58

gonna talk about what the Bible has to say.

About the demonic about the wicked,

about the evil things that. A

2:05

lot of times, our rulers and principalities

2:07

in this world, the things that we interact

2:10

with that sometimes we may not even realize.

So that's the first step, right? The first step is understanding

2:15

that there is a spiritual realm

2:18

that we experience, that we interact with and that

2:20

we live in. And the first thing

2:22

I want to read is going to be in Ephesians chapter

2:24

6, verse 12, which says.

2:26

For, we do not wrestle against flesh

2:29

and blood, but against principalities

2:31

against powers against the rulers

2:33

of the darkness of this age

2:35

against spiritual hosts of wickedness

2:37

in the heavenly places. So

2:40

our battle, our, our, what we wrestle against

2:42

is not flesh and blood, but it's

2:44

of these principalities, these wicked powers

2:47

and these rulers of darkness.

2:51

are like the verse says held in

2:53

these spiritual heavenly places. Right.

2:55

So when you have, and just

2:57

uh, to give you an idea, right? When

2:59

you have an argument with somebody, when you

have some sort of disagreement, if you're in

3:03

conflict with someone, you know, someone, if

3:05

someone is at your job who doesn't really like, you

3:07

doesn't agree with you. Doesn't just, you know,

3:09

you can be as nice as you can be to that person, but

3:11

they'll just be rude to you. And

3:14

there's just no matter how kind you are, they

3:16

just throw you aside and they're just. You

3:18

know, Whenever you have these situations

3:21

when you're in conflict and you're wrestling against

3:23

someone, um, or some emotion,

3:25

some desire, some feeling, whatever it is. That

3:29

is. A spiritual conflict,

3:31

right? If I'm going against

3:33

another person in some sort of argument or whatever

3:35

it is, it's not even necessarily that that person

3:38

themselves. their flesh and blood

3:40

is what is coming against me or trying to

3:42

attack me or tear me down or whatever.

3:44

You know, circumstance,

3:46

right? It is actually the spiritual

3:49

behind that. And you know, we've talked

3:51

about this before on this podcast where there's

3:53

different things, right. When you have, you can have,

3:55

like, for example, a spirit of fear, you can have a spirit.

3:58

of courage, a spirit of anxiety,

like there's a bunch of different spirits. That

4:03

are in that kind of category as far as

4:05

you can almost even consider them emotions,

4:07

we're not talking about just those spirits. We're going

4:09

to be talking about actual. I

4:13

want to say physical, but it's literally not physical.

4:15

That's kind of why it's a spiritual thing. but we're

4:17

gonna be talking about the other side of the spirits,

4:19

not just the ones that cause us

4:21

emotions, the ones that encourage us, the

4:23

ones that tear us down. We're not gonna be talking

4:25

about just those spirits, but we're

4:28

specifically gonna be talking about the demonic

4:30

right on Clean spirits

4:32

unrighteous, wicked spirits.

4:35

That's what this episode. Is going to be

4:37

about. But that's what I wanted to cover first

4:39

was just so that you understand that

4:41

these things exist in the first place.

4:43

And once we understand that they exist,

4:46

we can study it. We can learn about it. We can

4:48

kind of, I guess you can say tackle it

4:50

and have a better understanding of how to

4:52

handle these situations and these circumstances.

4:55

When we come across them, right. When we have discernment,

4:58

when we have understanding and we're able to see

5:00

what is going on, not just physically in front

5:02

of us, but what is going on spiritually.

5:05

Then we can have the tools necessary

5:07

to handle it. Right. So I want to give you a couple of examples.

of what the Bible records, as

5:13

far as some sort of demonic interaction,

5:15

demonic, possession, uh, what it

5:17

is, what it looks like, and we can talk about

5:19

it. So the first example is going to be

5:21

found in mark chapter

5:23

five, verses two to nine. Which

5:25

say, and when Jesus had stepped

5:27

out of the boat immediately there

5:30

met him out of the tombs, a man

5:32

with an unclean spirit. He lived

5:34

among the tombs and no one could bind

5:36

him anymore. Not even with the chain

5:39

for, he had often been bound with shackles

5:41

and chains, but he wrenched the chains

5:43

apart and he broke the shackles in pieces.

5:46

No one had the strength to subdue him. Night

5:49

and day among the tombs and on the mountains,

5:51

he was always crying out and cutting himself

5:53

with stones. And when he saw Jesus

5:56

from afar, he ran and fell down

5:58

before him and crying out with a loud

6:00

voice. He said, what have you to do

6:02

with me? Jesus, son of

6:04

the most high God. I adjure

6:07

you by God do not torment me. For

6:09

he was saying to him, come out of the man,

6:11

you unclean spirit. And Jesus

6:13

asked him, what is your name? He

6:15

replied, my name is Legion

6:18

for, we are many. So this is one

6:20

example of a demon possessed man.

6:23

That is recorded in the Bible. And we

6:25

see later in this passage that

6:27

deep that Jesus commands these

6:29

legions of spirits, these legions

6:32

of demons who have been possessing this man.

6:35

To come out of him and they do. And

6:37

we'll talk about where they go in just

6:39

a moment, but they are cast out

6:41

of this man. And even this little

6:43

passage we can see some of the characteristics

6:45

of someone who is demon possessed.

6:48

Right? One of them being that they isolate

6:50

themselves. This is something that

6:52

is often, um, a characteristic

6:55

of someone who is demon possessed is that they isolate themselves

6:58

and. That's not to say that anyone who

7:00

isolates themselves is possessed by demons.

7:02

I'm not saying that at all. Right. Just

7:04

if you're someone who's introverted and you just need some

7:06

alone time, I'm not saying that you're possessed

7:08

by demons, but that's often a characteristic

7:10

of somebody who is right in this case,

7:13

they have. um, A supernatural

7:15

strength to them. to where

7:17

again, it was at that time, a little bit different because

7:19

this man is living in among tombs

7:22

among dead bodies. And for the

7:24

Jewish people at that time, that was something that was considered

7:26

unclean. Um, it was.

7:29

There's a whole nother thing that goes along with that.

7:31

But the point is, is that they would try to

7:33

subdue him because of what he was doing. Cutting himself.

7:36

And these, just these other kinds of things.

7:39

And yet he had the supernatural strength to

7:41

break these iron chains and shackles

7:43

that were holding him down. And that

7:45

is not a normal common thing. Right? A normal

7:48

person doesn't have that kind of strength to

7:50

just break iron chains that they're tied up with. But

7:52

that's something that we see here, right? It's a supernatural

7:55

kind of strength, um, which

7:57

again, um, can be frightening to many.

that that's, that's another part, right? So.

8:04

That those are two characteristics. And then we also

8:06

see the third one from this passage. Is

8:08

that. The person

8:10

who is demon possessed has no

8:13

regard. they've lost self

8:15

control and they've lost a value

8:18

for their own life. They've. lost the.

8:21

drive of self preservation,

8:23

Right. So we see that they're isolating themselves.

8:25

They're acting. In an unnatural

8:28

way, living among dead bodies, um,

8:30

you know, cutting themselves and crying out. These

8:33

are unnatural, not normal

8:35

things. Right. And so, again, not

8:37

to say that every single person that does these things is

8:39

a demon possessed, but these are signs

8:41

to look out for. Right isolation.

8:45

This lack of desire for self preservation

8:47

or this causing of self

8:49

harm, right. That those are things

8:51

that now, okay. It's not just a physical thing that's going

8:53

wrong on around here. It's an actual

8:56

spiritual. Thing that is happening

8:59

and it's something to be aware of. And if

9:01

you begin to witness these kinds of things,

9:03

it's definitely something to begin to pray about

9:06

once you're made aware of it. Right. So

9:08

this is one example and we see that

9:10

the man. um, you know,

9:13

what is your name? He's not speaking to the man, but he's speaking

9:15

to the demons living within the man.

9:18

And they say, or he says, my

9:20

name is Legion for, we are

9:22

many so a Legion And

9:24

that time um, a Roman Legion

9:26

was about 6, 000 soldiers. Right. So

9:29

even though there's no way to know how many

9:31

demons this man had over him. We

9:33

can probably assume that it's thousands.

9:36

Right. And even later in the passage, when Jesus

9:38

casts out these demons, They

9:40

go into a herd of pigs that are nearby.

9:43

And even those pigs, they end up. Just

9:45

stampeding, downhill and drowning themselves,

9:47

which again, we see is a very unnatural

9:50

behavior. Animals just don't go ahead and drown

9:52

themselves willingly. But in this

9:54

case, in this example that's recorded, thousands

9:57

of pigs went and essentially just committed

9:59

suicide, right. We know from the Bible,

from the word of God that it says the thief

10:03

comes only to kill steal and

10:05

destroy. And when it's talking about thief, it's

10:08

metaphorical in many ways for uh,

10:10

the devil, for the demonic, for the wicked. Um,

10:12

they only come to kill steal and

10:14

destroy. They're not there for anything that is good. So

10:17

this man who is demon possessed. Is

10:20

just again, trying to, escape in some ways,

10:22

kill himself. When they go into these pigs, they literally

10:24

kill themselves. So it's just a very strange

10:27

thing that we see. But

10:29

that, that one characteristic, that

10:31

loss of self preservation

10:33

that, um, self harm kind of thing.

10:36

We see this repeatedly in the Bible

10:38

for those who are demon possessed. And another example

10:40

I can give you is found in Matthew chapter

10:43

17, verses 14 to

10:45

21. Which says, and

10:47

when they had come to the multitude, a man came

10:49

to him, kneeling down to him and saying, Lord

10:52

have mercy on my son for he is an epileptic.

10:55

And suffers severely. For, he

10:57

often falls into the fire and often

10:59

into the water. So I brought him to your disciples,

11:02

but they could not cure him. Then Jesus

11:04

answered. Oh, faithless and

11:06

perverse generation. How long shall

11:08

I be with you? How long shall I bear

11:10

with you? Bring him here to me. And

11:13

Jesus rebuked the demon and it

11:15

came out of him and the child was cured

11:17

from that very hour. Then the

11:19

disciples came to Jesus privately and said,

11:21

why could we not cast it out? So

11:24

Jesus said to them because of your unbelief

11:26

for surely I say to you, if

11:29

you have faith as a mustard seed, you

11:31

will say to this mountain move from here to

11:33

there and it will move. And nothing

11:35

will be impossible for you. However,

11:38

this kind does not go out except

11:40

by prayer and prayer. So

11:43

a couple things to mention here from this passage

11:45

that we just read, uh, the first one

11:47

is that. This story is also

11:50

recorded in the other in one of the other

11:52

gospels as well. And it actually records

11:54

that the the boy would. Convulse.

11:56

And he would throw himself down into the fire, throw himself

11:58

down into the water. And again, because as

12:00

we see here, he's demon possessed in

12:02

this case, the demon that was living inside

12:05

of him was trying to kill him in

12:07

many ways. Um, and again,

12:09

we see that because it's, it's throwing himself

12:11

down, making him convulse and. Putting

12:13

himself in harm's way. Right.

12:15

And in this case, he's an epileptic and

12:17

he would suffer from seizures, but it's one

12:20

of the results of this possession.

12:22

And again, not to say that every single person

12:25

who suffers from epilepsy or every single person who

12:27

has a seizure is demon possessed. That's not

12:29

what I'm saying. However, these

12:31

are signs to look out for. Right. If

12:33

someone is going through this secular process

12:36

and by all other accounts,

12:38

their health seems to be in perfect condition and all these other

12:41

things. There has to be. Just

12:43

from what we're reading here, something else that is going

12:45

along with this, right. It's

12:48

two separate things, but they can also

12:50

be one of the same. So it's just things to look

12:52

out for things to understand and have

12:54

spiritual discernment and understanding

12:56

to see that when these things happen, okay,

12:59

is this a physical need that they need medication?

13:01

They need medical help. Um, which again,

13:03

if someone's convulsing in front of you call 911,

13:05

right? I'm not saying just start, obviously start praying

13:07

as well, but it's not just to be like, okay,

13:10

we're going to have an exorcism now. Right. As

13:12

they're Convulsing on the floor now

13:15

call 911, seek medical attention. However

13:18

also begin to pray about it, begin to pray

13:20

that obviously they get healed and things get better that

13:22

they come out of the seizure. also

13:25

again, if this is something that you can

13:28

see and understand with your spiritual understanding

13:30

and spiritual eyes. That there is something

13:32

beyond just the physical going on here.

13:35

Rebuke it in Jesus' name. I want to talk

13:37

about that in just a moment, as far as

13:40

the authority that we have in Jesus's

13:42

name to cast out demons. And

13:45

so the first thing before we get

13:47

to that part, before I read those verses for you, um,

13:50

when a demon is cast out of a person,

13:52

right? If there isn't a quote unquote. and

13:54

I don't like to use the word, but it's, what's used

13:56

if there's an exorcism performed and

13:58

someone is cast out a demon is cast

14:01

out of a person, this unclean

14:03

spirit. It has to go somewhere.

14:05

It seeks to go somewhere because

14:08

these spirits, they they do not like to

14:10

live without a host. Right? So

14:12

that in the case of what we read

14:14

for the demon possessed man who had thousands of

14:16

demons possessing him, they were cast

14:18

out of the man and they were put into pigs.

14:21

Right. But They consumed the pig's

14:23

body and end up killing themselves. But

14:25

we'll see what the Bible says about

14:27

when an unclean spirit, when a demonic

14:29

spirit comes out of a person, and

14:32

we're gonna read this in Matthew chapter 12,

14:34

verses 43 to 45. Which

14:36

says. When the unclean spirit

14:39

has gone out of a person, it passes

14:41

through waterless places seeking

14:43

rest, but finds none. Then

14:46

it says I will return to my house

14:48

from which I came. And when it comes,

14:50

it finds the house empty, swept,

14:52

and put in order. Then it goes

14:54

and brings with it seven other spirits,

14:56

more evil than itself. And

14:58

they enter and dwell there. And the last

15:01

state of that person is worse than the first.

15:03

So also it will be with this evil

15:06

generation. So we're seeing in

15:08

these verses that when an unclean spirit

15:10

is cast out of a person, It

15:13

wanders and it looks for another

15:15

place to go. And. This

15:18

is why it's a very, uh,

15:21

Dangerous kind of thing when, when these

15:23

things happen, because if you're in a room,

15:25

say you're at church and someone is

15:27

demon possessed and someone begins to pray for

15:29

them, the demon gets cast out. And also, I'm not

15:31

saying this is to scare you, but just to make you aware,

15:34

if this demon is cast out and there's someone

15:36

there who is an unbeliever who doesn't

15:38

know the Lord, who does not yet have a

15:40

relationship with him, That demon

15:42

may enter into that person because

15:44

they are in, I guess you can say an available

15:47

vessel. Um, So

15:50

that's why it's something to be mindful

15:52

of. And this

15:54

is not necessarily a lesson on exorcism

15:57

or a lesson on praying for people or casting out demons.

15:59

Um, but I do want to talk about what the Bible says about

16:01

it, that it exists. It's a real thing. Um,

16:04

I want to talk about the authority that you have

16:06

in the ability that you have, if you were a believer

16:08

to cast them out and the

16:11

authority that you have over them, that they shall not harm

16:13

you or hurt you. But even

16:15

beyond that, right. We even seen these verses

16:17

that if someone is an unbeliever and

16:19

they have these demons cast out of them, right.

16:22

if these demons, these unclean spirits

16:24

are cast out of that person. And

16:27

they don't. Receive the Lord,

16:29

they don't receive salvation and they don't fill that

16:31

gap. They don't fill that hole with

16:34

the Holy Spirit. The demons,

16:36

the unclean spirits may return. And

16:38

a lot of times, again, we understand that

16:41

these things happen in cycles,

16:43

right? If someone is struggling with, say, for example,

16:45

like an addiction, Um, something that is

16:47

beyond just the physical, but it's a spiritual

16:50

thing. Um, if someone is struggling

16:52

with. that. Just demons in general.

16:54

It happens in cycles where they get better

16:57

and then they go back down that rabbit hole, they get better

16:59

and they start spiraling again. The

17:01

demonic and the wicked often comes in

17:03

cycles and that's just something to be aware

17:06

of. So in this case, It

17:08

says that this. Unclean

17:10

spirit is cast out of the person, but

17:12

it searches and it cannot find a place to stay.

17:14

And so it brings seven other unclean

17:17

spirits along with it. And they come right

17:19

back to that person where

17:21

they were cast out of. And their

17:23

condition of that one person is worse off

17:26

than if the first demon didn't leave in the first

17:28

place, because before you had one, now you have eight,

17:31

right? You have the one plus seven of his friends. And

17:33

so. It's

17:35

something to be weary of, because

17:38

again, Every single

17:40

time that they come back, it is harder

17:42

and harder to break that addiction to break

17:45

that chain. But it's not impossible.

17:48

And we'll see that in Matthew chapter

17:50

28 verses 18 to 20, which

17:52

says, and Jesus came and

17:54

said to them, All authority

17:57

in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

17:59

Go therefore, and make disciples of all

18:01

nations, baptizing them in the name

18:03

of the father and of the son and of the

18:05

Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe

18:08

all that I have commanded you. And behold,

18:10

I am with you always to the end of

18:12

the age. So we see from this passage that all

18:15

authority has been given to Jesus,

18:17

the son. In heaven

18:20

and on earth. Period.

18:24

So even in the the previous verses that we

18:26

saw, when this demon possessed man

18:28

comes up to Jesus, he says, what do you want from me? Jesus,

18:31

son of the most high God. And fun fact

18:33

for you up until this point. That

18:35

was the first time that a man,

18:38

even though the man only knew the man

18:40

only said what he said to Jesus, because of

18:42

the demons living within him, the demons

18:44

knew who Jesus was, right. The Bible

18:46

says that even the demons know that and they shudder.

18:48

And so the demons that were

18:50

living inside this man recognized Jesus as

18:53

the Messiah, as the Christ, as the son of the

18:55

living, God. And it's

18:57

pleading with him not to send them out. To

19:00

what's called the abyss before the final judgment.

It's again, I can go down a whole

19:04

rabbit hole with you guys, but I'm trying to stay on task

19:06

and stay in focus. The point is. The

19:09

demons recognize Jesus. They recognize

19:11

his authority over them. And

19:13

then Jesus, without any tips, without

19:15

any tricks, without having to invoke on

19:18

the name of the father invoke on anything

19:20

else by his own authority, by his own

19:22

word. He casted out. The

19:24

demons from this man. And we see that because just

19:26

in the passage that we read all authority

19:29

in heaven and on earth has been given to

19:31

him. And luckily for us. We share

19:34

in that authority. And we'll see that in Luke

19:36

chapter 10 verse 19. Which

19:38

says behold, I have given

19:41

you authority to tread on

19:43

serpents and scorpions and

19:45

over all the power of

19:47

the enemy and nothing shall

19:49

hurt you. Nevertheless,

19:51

do not rejoice in this, that the spirits

19:53

are subject to you, but rejoice

19:55

that your names are written in heaven.

19:58

So, what do these verses show us? We've been given all

20:01

authority to tread. On serpents

20:03

and scorpions, the same authority that Jesus has

20:05

over these evil, demonic spirits

20:08

that are subject to him, his

20:10

rule, his word, his law. they

20:13

are subject to whatever he says, what he says

20:15

goes. We have been given that same

20:17

authority. And we share in that so that

20:19

if we see these things, if we see someone who's demon

20:21

possessed, if we feel during

20:24

the night, this sudden striking of fear, and we

20:26

just feel like something's in the room and something's off.

20:28

If you are a believer, right. It says, do

20:31

not rejoice in this, that the spirits

20:33

are subject to you, but rejoice that

20:35

your names are written in heaven. So you

20:37

only have this authority. You only share in

20:39

this authority with Jesus, if you are a believer

20:42

in him, right? If you're a believer and

20:44

you are a son, a child of God, um,

20:47

Only then can you have and share this

20:49

authority? So if your name is written

20:51

in heaven, right? If you are a believer, if you have

20:54

received your salvation, you have authority

20:56

over these demonic spirits. And so

20:58

when that scare comes at night, when

21:00

you feel fear and we understand that fear

21:02

is not of God, he has not given us a spirit of fear,

21:04

but a spirit of courage. Right. So if we

21:07

feel some sort of fear. And when we're

21:09

walking home late at night or whatever

21:11

the case is, wherever you may be. If

21:14

something feels off and you feel it in your spirit, that

21:16

there's something wicked in this place, something

21:18

unrighteous here, something evil, you

21:20

can begin to pray. And the

21:22

spirits have to flee. They have

21:24

to leave, because you have

21:27

been given authority over them.

21:29

In the name of Jesus. And

21:31

of course, this leads to that question.

21:33

When I was saying before, about if an unbeliever

21:36

is in the room in the church, or if an unbeliever,

21:38

if demons were cast out of them and they don't receive

21:41

Christ, they don't receive the Holy Spirit. Um,

21:43

the demons can come back seven times stronger,

21:46

right? That

21:48

begs the question. Can a believer. A

21:50

Christian, a follower of Christ. can

21:53

they become demon possessed.

21:55

And the answer to that, the simple answer is

21:57

no, you cannot become demon possessed

22:00

as a Christian. Two things cannot

22:02

occupy the same space,

22:04

right? So you cannot be full of

22:07

the Holy Spirit. And at the same time That's

22:10

just not how that works. And there's

22:12

no record. Or no example

22:14

of that happening in the Bible where a believer

22:16

is possessed by a demon. It's always unbelievers

22:19

who are demon possessed. And again,

22:22

when you have the Holy Spirit living in you. you

22:24

can overcome everything else that goes

22:26

against you. You can overcome everything else

22:28

that is ungodly because you have

22:31

God living in you, the Holy Spirit.

22:33

And so we read here in 1st

22:35

John chapter 4 verses 1 to 4,

22:38

Which says beloved do

22:40

not believe every spirit, but

22:42

test the spirits, whether

22:44

they are of God, because many false

22:47

prophets have gone out into the world by

22:49

this, you will know the spirit of God,

22:52

every spirit that confesses that Jesus

22:54

Christ has come in, the flesh is of

22:56

God. And every spirit that does not

22:59

confess that Jesus Christ has come. in The flesh

23:01

is not of God. And this

23:03

is the spirit of the antichrist,

23:06

which you have heard was coming and is

23:08

now, already in the world. You

23:11

are of God, little children and have

23:13

overcome them. Because he

23:15

who is in you is greater than

23:17

he, who is in the world.

23:20

Who is he living in us? It is the Holy

23:22

Spirit living within us because we

23:24

understand that Jesus, when he left earth, when he was

23:26

resurrected and went back to heaven. He

23:29

is seated at the right hand of

23:31

God. The father. And so

23:33

he left behind an advocate. He left

23:35

behind the Holy Spirit. For

23:38

us that we have the power through

23:40

the Holy Spirit to overcome

23:42

a way out that we can overcome these

temptations and the Holy Spirit will make

one living in us is greater than

I also want to show you what happens. When

someone who doesn't know Jesus, who does

not have the authority, because they don't have the

relationship with him, they don't have

authority to cast out demons. They don't

have that. And I want to show you what happens when

someone. No matter who they are, right.

It doesn't matter if you're a pastor's son. If

your parents are saved, we've talked about this plenty

of times before salvation is a personal choice

and only when you make that personal choice, can

you step out and perceive,

and take, hold of, and take advantage of. The

what happens when you don't know who Christ is

with him and you're not saved yourself.

the evil spirit answered them. Jesus.

but who are you? And the

man in whom was the evil spirit

leaped on them, mastered all

of them and overpowered them so

they fled out of that house naked

and wounded. So, what does this show us? The

seven sons of a high priest,

a Jewish high priest. They

were trying to evoke the name of

Jesus. They heard about his disciples and these

believers who were casting out demons and who had this

authority and this power to do such

things. And they tried to do the same thing.

But if you noticed they don't know.

Or I shouldn't say that they don't know because they've heard of

him, but they don't have a relationship

with Jesus. They don't have the authority to

call upon Jesus. the

power that is in his name

because they don't have that relationship with him. And

we see that because they go. We adore you

by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.

So it's like, It's like twice

removed. It's like, I'm, I don't they're they're not

casting out demons in the name of Jesus They're going. Yeah.

This guy, Jesus, who Paul

talks about, who has the power to do these things.

oh, you know, my sister's brother's cousin's

person. I have no relationship with that person. That would be

Um, like I'm so far removed.

Like dude, you're, you're nobody, you don't know anybody

the owner. We're not letting you in. Right.

But if I show up and I go, Hey. The owner's my

cousin, or my, the owner's my brother, the owner's

my best friend. I, I know there's no reservations,

Yeah, we'll let you right in, no problem. But,

I have to have a relationship with the owner to get in.

Right, and it's the same thing in this example.

If you don't know who Jesus is, you

can't cast out demons. It's like,

the seven sons of this high priest,

they were trying to, And

like we mentioned, even the demons know

who Jesus is because they understand that he

has authority over them. So they were saying

back to these seven sons of Sevas, they

go, Jesus, we know Paul,

we've heard of, because again, Paul was very, after

he came to Christ. And after he had the, um,

the turning on the road of Damascus, where

he started to be a Christian himself after

that. He did many many things. He

they were talking to these people didn't matter that they were sons

kind of relationship. They didn't have this authority

demons in their supernatural strength overpowered

naked and wounded, right? So that's what happens

when you don't have a relationship with God

overcome these these evil

wicked demonic spirits because Not

to strike you with fear or anything like that,

but they are real things that

actually have strength and there are things to

be concerned with. If you

don't have a relationship with the Lord,

because if you do, then they can't touch you. They

do not have any authority over

you and they cannot harm you. But

if you don't have a relationship with him, they

can and they are a force to

be reckoned with. They are something that should

be feared if you don't

have that shield of protection
