?? re:new draws a parallel with the body of the violin and respectfulchild’s own body, with their classical music training becoming a direct metaphor for the gender binary that has been forced on them since birth. Both of these things have had a profound influence on respectfulchild’s relationship to music and to society, but both were taught to them in ways without their choosing. This album gives them space to interrogate these things and ultimately determine what they choose to keep and what they choose to let go of.
