Writing: B+ Voice Acting: B+ Sound Quality:A+ Sound Effects: A+ Directing:A The Northwest Footwear Database is set in an alternate version of today's Britain. In this Britain, shoes and feet are this world's equivalent of fingerprints and DNA. The Northwest Footwear Database the largest collection of shoe and foot prints. Its privately owned with its own security, etc. However, the government has a police liaison officer and an auditor at the facility. The story begins when the new auditor arrives (they are warned not ask what happened to their predecessor) and begins their work. They are greeted by a chipper tour guide who seems to have something that they are hiding. Everyone has a secret agenda including the auditor. The auditor is trying to find someone, someone that worked at the Northwest Footwear Database that was important to them. The podcast is a single narrator telling the story as if it was the podcast listener that was the auditor. The narrator is good (I am a sucker for a British male accent) but its the music and the sound effects that do most of the acting. I would listen to this podcast with good stereo headphones to get the most out of it. When I was listening to the podcast, the sound drew me into this world. I followed the adventures of the auditor eagerly buying into the sense of danger and adventure. It was only when I thought back on the plot, did I realize that much of the story was meant to be tongue in cheek. I will have to listen to it again so I can pick up on the clever uses of shoes that I missed. The story is told over 7 episodes. The ending left the possibility of another season. The 8th episode is about the company halloween party and is a fun listen. Disclaimer: Those who can do. Those who can't teach. Those who can't teach criticize.
