STORY 1: Mother charged

A Sandy Springs mother, Asia Calabrese-Lewis, has been charged with the murder of her 1-year-old daughter, Nirvana Oliver. The child's body was discovered in a pond at an office park on May 11. Police responded to a disturbance call near the King and Queen towers, where they found Calabrese-Lewis in a distressed state. When the child's father arrived and inquired about the baby's whereabouts, the mother stated that the child was deceased in a pool. First responders searched the area and found the girl's body in one of the ponds. The child was taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta at Scottish Rite but was pronounced dead. Calabrese-Lewis is currently held at the Fulton County Jail, facing charges of felony murder and child cruelty.

STORY 5: Author

Tracie Angela Greene, through her T.A.Greene Publishing House, has released her debut novel titled "Enisi The Bleu Realm." This sci-fi/fantasy tale draws inspiration from Greene's childhood experiences exploring the woods of south Fulton. Set from the 1800s to the 1980s, the story revolves around the women of a strong Black American family and their encounters with a unique family tree that is not really a tree. Described as a coming-of-age story, the novel takes place in a fantastical southern ecosystem where humans are not the dominant species. It combines realism, history, and nods to African, Cherokee, and European heritage. The book explores the dimensions of a Black American family's life while navigating their realm with Enisi, a superior tree-like mentor. The author's childhood in south Fulton and her fascination with the surrounding woods serve as significant inspirations for the story.

In Region 4AAAAAA, North Atlanta senior Virginia Odom was named girls' player of the year and was joined on the first team by teammate Odalis Tapia.
