Bethany Hamilton was born to be a surfer. She started from a very young age and would spend every waking minute possible in the water on her surfboard. She was determined from early on to become a professional surfer.   

Her dream was easily within reach until one day at aged just 13, Bethany was attacked by a shark. It had bitten off her left arm, but she stayed calm warning other surfers in that there was a shark in the water.  After the attack she felt her dream was slipping away and finished forever.  However Bethany, after an inspirational talk with a fellow shark attack survivor, was determined to get back on the board and make her dreams come true.
