Jackson Vaughan (@konvoyventures) is a gamer. Jackson is a General Partner and Co-founder of Konvoy Ventures, a Denver-based seed-stage fund investing in the infrastructure technology, tools, and platforms of tomorrow’s video gaming industry. Jackson grew up playing Counterstrike, Halo, and Goldeneye with his two best friends, and now he invests in the underlying tech that drives these games forward with them. Tell me he's not living every nerd's wet dream.

In this episode, Jackson breaks down what first-time managers don't know about the fundraising process that they should, he discusses decision-making dynamics in a fund made up of three GP's who were childhood best friends where two happen to be brothers. He also spills on the thought-process underlying how Konvoy structured their fund.  Jackson gives us the 101 on video game tech investing including the history of streaming, video game success following a power-law distribution, different video game business models, and how massive multiplayer games like Fortnite have turned them on their heads. We discuss what frontier tech investors should be taking a look at and cap off with the most important question of all: Who would win in a fight... Nelson Mandela or Fred Wilson?

Like only a true gamer can, Jackson teaches us how to build a great video game fund from Day 1.
