O’Brien, their goal is to help new, as well as more experienced artists, tap into and focus on their creativity, and especially to develop a more expanded version of the concept of "romantic".  As a matter of fact, they say they formed the group to revolt against the preconceived notions of romance as a happy ending.  Instead, their group spreads the message that romance can be found in everything, from nature to pain to the erotic...and even death.  The Nu Romantics passionately believe that, like in Wess’s story, art truly does save lives.
