In this episode of Nyuki, we welcomed the Founder and Director of Education For Afrika and the author of the book "Black Rage," Lumiere Bukasa. Ms. Bukasa talked about her struggle as a woman and what she experienced growing up in Africa. Ms. Bukasa's role is not only limited to her organization, but she carries many hats of a storyteller, her function in the community, and her job working as an Early college specialist in the Northeast Denver high schools precisely in the Montbello area. She talked about the lack of resources and support for minorities.
In 2009, Ms.Busaka and her family emigrated from Zimbabwe as a refugee to the USA, precisely in Denver, Colorado, and the challenges she faced growing up as a kid going to school and how her parents lacked the money to pay her school fees.
Ms.Bukasa talked about her role as a founder and director of a non-profit organization called Education for Afrika. She started to provide aid to Congolese women back to her home country of DRC. She has taken on new challenges to mentor African students with partners with Northeast high schools. Therefore, Ms.Bukasa pointed out that women are not educated and placed at the bottom of the society in Africa. The challenge she faces is finding the right people to run her organization back home and the lack of support in the community.
