RATING
Buried beneath a short, unobtrusive name there lies an expertly-crafted pre-history and archaeology podcast. Host Andy Earnshaw weaves evocative, imaginative storytelling with lucid, and often amusing explanations of the multiplicity of forces that influenced the lives of ancient people and the equally complex techniques that allow archaeologists to interpret what they left behind. He makes the case for version he finds most convincing, but also presents the other possibilities. It's thought-provoking, beautifully paced, and provides a vivid insight how our ancestors lived and what they can teach us about what it means to be human.
Old BonesThanks Alistair. It's just me making Old Bones, so these reviews really mean a lot and help me keep going when things get difficult!
It is a great chance to learn about the past! As an archaeologist I foung it interesting and useful. Thank you for doing such a great job!
A unique podcast that takes a subject underserved (archaeology) and gives it the same treatment that other podcasts gave whole periods of history. Fans of Dan Carlin's Hardcore History or of Mike Duncan's work should enjoy this!
Well produced, interesting, and an all around fun podcast for armchair archaeologists.
This podcast is an interesting and fun dive into archaeology and European prehistory. The host is charming and also very careful to clarify when he is offering his opinion on an unsettled issue. He also gives his sources, which is nice. Recommended.
