"No one thinks they are beyond repair - but they (should always) see some beauty or good in themselves". This is from a Ndebele proverb which speaks to the recent difficulties I have experienced - out of the difficulties I have decided to rise like a phoenix  and continue celebrating Black excellence but use my platform to enable constructive storytelling - to inspire and empower Black people in health care.  There are successes and challenges attached to being the first Black person in any thing - especially when you came from a background where you used to see people who look like you succeed and now you have to search for them.  
 Today is also my 14 years anniversary as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse!
