As someone who identifies as a linguist (& gas a degree in it), I was really looking forward to this ep - I love phonetics and phonology! And while it was very fun and interesting, it was actually about sociolinguistics. Dont get me wrong, socioling is fascinating! But I was a little disappointed that there was hardly any mention of phonology. It's a real tragedy for the premise of the podcast that linguistics (and many aspects thereof) happens to not have "ology", even though it is absolutely the study of language.
