It was shortly after midnight on June 5th, 1968, that Robert F. Kennedy was shot at The Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.
While the visit of his brother to Ireland five years earlier had captivated this country, Robert’s influence on Irish politics was instead among the Diaspora - convincing Irish America of its place in the Civil Rights movement.
It was a battle that brought him into conflict with some in Irish America but which also won him many friends.
