On with Mario a little bit. Mario
0:04
Lopez joining me now on zoom. Olympic
0:06
gold medalist Lindsay Vaughan, Welcome
0:08
to the show, Lindsay, you look fantastic. Were
0:10
you? Where are we speaking from? Oh? Thank
0:12
you. I'm actually in New Jersey. UM,
0:15
My fiance PK is getting ready for his
0:17
season or hopefully we don't know what he's going to start,
0:19
so we're here in Jersey. Nice. Nice? And
0:21
is that a King Charles
0:24
uh Spaniel or
0:27
cavalier Cavalier King Charles. I knew
0:29
it was along those same life So cute. He's
0:32
a star. I'm just the I'm just sidekick.
0:34
What's his name? This is Lucy
0:37
lou her name Lucy.
0:39
Excuse me, Lucy, forgive me for that.
0:42
So, Lindsay, you've got this new unscripted
0:45
series of The Pack about well
0:47
dogs in their humans. Uh, tell
0:49
us about it. We're big dog lovers over here, so this sounds
0:51
cool? Thanks? Yeah, I mean it's
0:54
a it was a really great opportunity. It's
0:56
basically a global competition show,
0:58
um where dogs and human partner
1:00
up and compete in different challenges
1:02
and the winner actually gets five thousand
1:05
dollars And I think me. For me,
1:07
the best part about it was a charity component.
1:09
Um. We gave away two thousand
1:12
dollars to each country that we visited, or thousand
1:15
dollars total um, but we donate to different
1:17
charities. We donated medical, surprise
1:19
food and also the
1:21
winner gets UM two
1:23
dollars extra to give away to the charity
1:26
of their choice. So I think we helped the
1:28
dogs in the process of making an amazing
1:30
of making amazing TV show. That's awesome.
1:33
And what are some of the challenges for
1:35
example, Um, there's a
1:37
scent work, there's um fetching,
1:39
there's tugging, um, there's
1:42
I mean it was crazy, there's digging. Lucy
1:45
would have not done well in any
1:47
of these challenges, I can confirm
1:50
that. But these dogs
1:52
were incredible. You know, none of them had come
1:54
into show with any sort of formal
1:57
training, UM, but they had orientation
1:59
in l A for three months UM,
2:01
and so they were they were ready for these
2:03
challenges and they did exceptionally well.
2:06
I mean, it was really impressive to see. I
2:08
I definitely was surprised, and I definitely
2:10
think there are a lot more capable um
2:12
than I give them credit for. Yeah, I like
2:14
that their Novice. These dogs they had
2:16
like those dogs that compete, you got the every
2:18
dog. Yeah, they're like everyday
2:20
dogs. And uh you think maybe
2:23
surprisingly that that's fantastic. What congrats
2:25
on that. Look forward to uh checking it out.
2:28
And I've been noticing you've been putting yourself out there
2:30
on social media, taken on body shamers
2:32
and which, by the way, ridiculous
2:35
anyone that has anything to say regarding
2:37
you. Do you feel, um, like like
2:39
you're making any sort of progress with this virtual
2:41
judgment from people, because I feel like there's keyboard gangsters
2:44
are gonna talk no matter what. Well, you
2:46
know, I'm not, um,
2:49
I'm a delusional of the fact that there will
2:51
never be body shamers or you know,
2:54
rolls on social media. But
2:56
you know, my my my goal was to just
2:58
give girls and women the confidence to just
3:00
be themselves. You know, no one's perfect. Um,
3:03
no one's going to be perfect. You know, we don't need a
3:05
photoshop all the time. You know, we we just
3:07
need to be more accepting of who we are, especially
3:10
right now. You know, I think with COVID, it really gave
3:12
me a new perspective of
3:14
you know, we need to lift each other up. We needed
3:17
more positive. You know, we've got so much
3:19
negativity in the world that we don't need to be negative
3:21
towards each other. Absolutely absolutely
3:23
agree with you and man, good for you. By the way, UM,
3:26
Winter Olympics a little over a year. Way,
3:28
how's the pandemic affecting the athletes
3:31
that are trying to prepare right now? I imagine you're
3:33
outside and essentially
3:36
alone a lot of times, so it shouldn't conflict
3:38
or am I wrong? Um, it's actually
3:40
really affected all of the skiers,
3:43
UM, Who've I've talked to. You know, a lot of the
3:46
mountains were closed down. Yeah, that's right, the mountain.
3:48
You gotta have the mountain open, that's right. Summary.
3:51
You know, Um, always the athletes travel
3:54
to New Zealand or to Chile for
3:56
training, and obviously travel was not
3:59
possible. UM. A lot of the American
4:01
athletes really struggled because you
4:03
know, we don't really have skiing in the
4:05
summer. We have one one mountain mount
4:08
hood in Oregon, UM, but Europeans
4:10
have all of the glaciers UM, and
4:13
you know, definitely had a huge disadvantage. So
4:15
I think, you know, geographically,
4:17
you can either be in a very good position for
4:19
Olympics or a very bad one. Wow,
4:22
that's an interesting point. Let me ask you a
4:24
personal question. I've never uh
4:27
skied in my life. Is it too
4:29
late for me now? Because I feel
4:31
like now I'm too I'm too aggressive
4:33
anyway, I'll probably wipe out and hurt myself
4:36
at my age. Should I just like not eat, like
4:38
just go kick it. I'm all about like hanging out and
4:40
drinking in the I.
4:45
But is it too late? The opera
4:48
STI is definitely where it's at. But I don't
4:50
think it's too late, you know. I think, Um,
4:52
it's all about, you know, just being cautious.
4:55
I mean, you can get hurt doing anything. You get
4:57
her walking across the street or rolling your ankle,
4:59
walk, you know, whatever, always get hurt.
5:01
So I feel like, if you want to do it, if
5:04
your family wants to do it, like you just go
5:06
for it. And if you get hurt. I mean I've
5:08
gotten hurt many times. I can tell you I'm walking
5:11
and I still went back and did more. That's
5:13
true. And and by the way, I get hurt all the time
5:15
doing other stuff. He's averaging about
5:17
one big injury a year. What's
5:19
about that. I'm not that I'm not that age now everything
5:22
just starts breaking down, So yeah, why not, I gotta
5:24
do it. I get a bucket. I got at LEASTKI once. Come
5:27
on, Um, now, I know you had
5:29
to postpone your wedding because of the pandemic. Any
5:31
thoughts when you might be rescheduling?
5:34
Oh yeah, I mean we're just not sure what's
5:36
going to happen. Um. We obviously are
5:39
really excited to get married at some point, but you
5:41
know, his family lives in Canada, and my
5:43
family is kind of scattered across the US, and
5:45
my one sister is married and lives in Italy,
5:48
so you know, there's a lot of different issues
5:50
that we face put this together safely.
5:53
Um, So we're just we're not stressed about it. We're
5:55
gonna wait and give it some time and and
5:57
hopefully do it you know when it makes ends. And
6:00
I don't know, I always lived by the model that everything
6:02
happens for a reason, so I don't mind
6:04
the extra time. You know, during the pandemic,
6:07
she can you know we took that much
6:09
better. Um, so I'm thankful for that.
6:11
Yeah. No, exactly, no, rush, Rush's
6:14
go anywhere ahead of us. Exactly.
6:17
You are you doing anything for Thanksgiving. Um,
6:20
I'm actually gonna go visit my family. Um.
6:22
The nice thing that the nice thing about Pek
6:24
not playing right now is that he can actually
6:26
come with me to Thanksgiving. So, um,
6:29
we're gonna go to Utah see my family and
6:32
should be should be pretty fun. That's where were from? Originally
6:34
in Utah. No, I'm actually
6:36
from Minnesota, Minnesota, that's what I thought.
6:38
Yeah, we're in Minnesota and
6:40
know, um trying, I'm
6:45
from just south of Minneapolis. Um.
6:47
I grew up on a little hill called Buck Hill, so
6:49
yeah that's me. Yeah,
6:52
my sister lived there for like five years. Eden
6:54
Prairie at the name of the neighborhood. It's
6:57
cold. It is cold. Hey, it's
7:00
cold that the water bottle next day came out there
7:02
was frozen solid. Con't believe it. No,
7:04
it's nice right there. Okay, before I let you go, I'm gonna
7:06
put you on the spot. Quick questions, quick answers. Okay,
7:09
favorite show you've binge during quarantine?
7:13
Uh? What's
7:16
it called? Um? What's
7:19
the Home? Oh? The
7:24
Bodyguard? Okay, it's
7:27
great, but there's only one one season, so it
7:29
was really disappointed. I couldn't really binge on it and
7:32
it's always like six episodes, right, Yeah, you know
7:34
I saw that was good too. Yeah, I wanted to keep
7:36
going for a long time. That's a sign of a good
7:38
show. Favorite TV or
7:40
movie dog? Uh,
7:44
favorite TV or movie doc? I
7:48
don't know. Just recently watched that documentary
7:50
called like American Murder
7:53
about the woman from Colorado who's murdered,
7:56
and that was really depressing, and so
7:58
I do not recommend watching it. But that
8:01
was the most recent one I watched. And I don't know
8:03
why I even brought u up. First of all, I've seen that one and it's
8:05
fantastic. But you think I said doc.
8:08
I believe I actually said dog. I
8:13
thought you were going to say the dog that was in the house.
8:16
That would sup. I
8:18
was trying to get that dog in that documentary right there.
8:20
But yeah, I'm that d O G
8:23
favorite dog. Yeah, like that's come
8:25
out in a movie or TV
8:28
show, I don't know. I
8:30
mean Lucy like she's coming out hot.
8:33
Hey, keep it in the family. She's
8:35
like the new star in town. So I
8:38
know her Instagram's blown up is the blown
8:40
up as it should. She's beautiful, Lucy
8:43
von Everyone loves it. I
8:45
love it. Celebrity crush growing up.
8:49
Oh uh, Bradpitt.
8:53
I think everyone has had a crush
8:55
on Brad pit right still
8:57
does, probably favor
9:00
forever. That's your forever crush. Have
9:04
you ever met him? Um?
9:07
I was like kind of right by him at
9:10
this and I was
9:12
like, oh, that's him, don't say hi. I
9:14
was like trying to really play it cool, but
9:17
in that playing at cool moment and miss
9:19
the opportunity to say hello. So he's super
9:21
cool. You get a chance to me him again, just go
9:23
up to him. He's real nice. Okay, Well,
9:25
next time we're together, you're going to introduce
9:28
I'll totally introduce you, totally introduce you.
9:30
Favorite Thanksgiving side dish, Um,
9:34
the sweet potatoes with the marshmallows on top
9:37
down the best. But I have burnt the marshmallows
9:40
and I like him a little burn. Actually no,
9:43
but I literally lived them on they were on flight. They're
9:45
like, okay, that's might be a little much. Okay.
9:48
And all time favorite athlete, uh
9:52
besides peak Roger fere Okay,
9:56
interesting? Yeah, great? Great? Um watch
9:59
the pack out on Amazon
10:01
Prime. Lindsay, congratulations
10:03
on everything and hopefully we'll see in person soon. Thank
10:06
