  • The first remote control came to the the market in 1950. It was created by Zenith Radio Corporation and they dubbed it "Lazy Bones."
  • Although we are working remotely, nothing about our work could be called lazy.
  • In fact, you are probably holding a lot of concern to keep kids engaged in a virtual learning format.
  • Pen commandment: Be the remote, Not the TV
  • Don't fall into the trap of thinking that in order to engage kids, you must entertain them.
  • The Lazy Bones remote was still connected to the TV by a wire. In the same way, the lessons and strategies you are using now should stay genuine to your teaching style and personality.
  • Today's notes:
  1. You control the channel. Do try new ideas, but don't feel locked in. If you can't imagine teaching it this way in the future, don't keep doing it now.
  2. Push the right buttons. Be consistent, so that your kids and families know when to tune in.
  3. Recharge your batteries. Take time for yourself.
