In today’s podcast journey I welcome guests Steven Snyder, aka Recluse, the host of “The Farm” podcast, along with his associate Jason with a fun filled review of a recent tour of the Occult and/or Esoteric History of Cincinnati that I recently had the opportunity to provide atour of many of the occult and/or esoteric sites of the east side of Cincinnati.
Of course here in the city that was established by the secret society that formed America, the Society of the Cincinnati, for which is the namesake of the cityof Cincinnati…we made numerous stops on our tour to ancient Mound sites – as the Society of the Cincinnati had & potentially stills has a deep veneration for these Mounds.
We also made a stop at the famed Loveland Castle, and fell down a deep rabbit hole of the city of Cincinnati’s connections to the infamous Civil War eraConfederate secret society, the Knights of the Golden Circle. Additionally, on our stop at the Loveland Castle – perhaps one of my favorite elements of thistale - other such patrons of the castle that day assumed that Recluse, aka Steven Snyder, was a tour guide of the castle…and Recluse even posed for photoswith the other patrons of the self-guided castle tour.
Nearby to the Loveland Castle in the Mound heavy region of the Little Miami River is the site that we visited on the tour that has long been known for the numerous sightings of a local frog cryptid known as the Loveland Frog.
But our Cincinnati cryptid tour did not end there, as we visited on of Cincinnati’s 7-hills…to another reported cryptid sightings location, this time with a badgerlike cryptid sighting often described at this park location atop of one of Cincinnati’s Rome-style 7-hills.
This particular hill where a badger cryptid is allegedly known to loiter…brings us back to the Society of the Cincinnati….Once again in the city that held suchgreat importance to the secret society that created America, the Society of the Cincinnati, and its 1st President-General George Washington. As thismodern day county park, where a Beaver cryptid creature is reported to loiter, and where ancient Mounds still sit on this property today….this particular landwas surveyed and mapped by George Washington many years prior to him becoming the President-General of a secret society that is essentially a modern day knighthood – with membership passed down to paternal descendants of original members.
And speak’n of Rome….and the last stop on the tour of the esoteric and/or occult history of Cincinnati…Eden Park. Where in Eden Park for the better part of the last century a statue once stood…a gift from the nation of Rome to the city of Cincinnati…a statue of Romulus and Remus – the two characters that star in the origin tale of Rome. Sadly, the statue was destroyed during the Mostly Peaceful riots of the summer of 2020. However, the base of the statue still exists and it clearly reads a gift from Rome….a gift from the old City of 7-hills to the new City of 7-hills, Cincinnati.
Lastly, on our Eden Park adventure we discovered a monument…and I in no way, shape, or form planned this discovery – albeit I was accused of such…a monument to a fella named John L. Vance – a distant cousin of mine here in Clan Vance. Apparently, this Vance fella was a figure who played an integral role in the economic development of the rivers and waterways thru Cincinnati, which at one point in time did serve as a major metropolitan city on account of theshipment of goods and people along the Ohio river.
