1:04

Instagram live with Donnie

1:07

himself Kristian Bruun.

1:11

Hello.

1:13

How's it going?

1:15

Happy New Year.

1:16

Thank you. Happy New Year too. Thanks

1:17

so much for doing this. Everyone's really

1:19

excited as you can probably see in the

1:22

comments. I was

1:24

just letting everybody know because I'm

1:26

I'm kind of shocked that so many people still

1:28

don't even know the next chapter is a thing.

1:30

Yeah. So I was just like

1:33

yeah. Everyday, somebody somebody's just

1:35

like, wait. What's this thing? So

1:38

so, yeah, it's just reminding everyone that

1:40

it exists. And if they wanna listen to it,

1:43

if they anywhere they get podcasts, they

1:45

can find it. And also on

1:47

realm dot f m. So I was just I wanted to

1:49

know, like, when you heard about the next chapter

1:51

and hi like,

1:53

what your thoughts were on the show continuing

1:55

in this audio format. Are

1:58

you

1:58

talking about season one or season two?

2:00

Season one, when did you hear about,

2:02

like, the whole the the thing in general?

2:05

I can't remember

2:06

where I was when I heard it. I heard about

2:08

it, but I was Super

2:11

pumped to see that the story was gonna continue

2:13

in some way and Helly

2:17

one of the writers, Sally Kennedy is is a good friend

2:20

of mine, so I was excited that she was working on

2:22

it.

2:22

And,

2:24

yeah, I I was I was excited. And

2:26

and I was hoping that we would get to, like,

2:28

jump in and and do some voices. But then when

2:30

I saw it was all tad, I was like, oh, man.

2:33

I guess I guess I guess I guess that's

2:35

it for us. But when I

2:37

found out about season two and and how they

2:39

wanted to use a couple of us and and get our

2:41

voices in there, I was thrilled. I was like, hell yeah.

2:43

Let's let's do this.

2:45

Did you did you listen to Tatiana's

2:47

doing your voice? I

2:49

did not. I did not listen to her doing

2:51

my voice. It was I

2:54

listened to a bit of the of season one

2:56

and it was just so

2:58

because Tat is a very good friend of mine

3:00

and It was just so weird to

3:02

listen to her all the time. I I think

3:04

it's a different experience for fans because, I

3:08

mean, who else you

3:10

know, everybody wants more a tad in their life,

3:12

but I see her all the time. So

3:14

it was like just really such a strange experience

3:16

for me to hear her doing

3:18

all the voices and doing everybody, but I didn't get a chance

3:21

to listen to her do me. And also, I wouldn't

3:23

want that to affect my Orphan. You know, what if she

3:25

does me better than I do, and I have

3:27

an existential crisis as an actor,

3:29

I'll never be able to act again. I'll just be trying

3:31

to do Tatiana doing me. I mean, that's

3:33

an award winning actor doing

3:35

me, I I can't do myself that well.

3:37

So, yeah, it would just it would just

3:39

blow my mind too much. It's

3:41

true just like all your roles go to Tatiana.

3:43

playing you now. Exactly. Exactly.

3:46

Which is great because maybe I'll win an award

3:48

or something down the road, but only if

3:50

she's playing me. So

3:53

when you found out you're gonna come back and

3:55

play Donnie again, what what's, like, your

3:57

favorite thing about Donnie that

3:59

you're excited

3:59

about? I

4:01

mean, he's kind of a goofball.

4:04

I knew there was gonna be some situations that

4:06

were gonna get him into hot

4:08

water with Alison or in general.

4:11

That's always the case. So I

4:13

was just kinda looking forward to whatever hijinks

4:15

they were gonna throw at Donnie. And

4:17

I love being a part

4:19

of that. I mean, his life

4:21

can very easily get so messy. And

4:23

everything was, like, perfectly in order

4:25

in Donnie and Alison's life until they

4:28

found out that Allison was a clone. And then from there

4:30

on forward, it's just been anything

4:33

goes. So at the end of the c

4:35

series, the TV series, you

4:38

know,

4:38

things were kind of nicely, neatly

4:40

wrapped up, but the real world isn't

4:42

that easy, obviously. And

4:44

as we see in the podcast, you

4:47

know, things get really complicated with

4:49

hundreds of clones out there and

4:51

all those opinions and and

4:54

I just knew that there's gonna be some

4:56

crazy situations going on for Donnie and Allison,

4:58

and I just really look forward to reliving all

5:00

that stuff because It's

5:03

one of the most fun roles I've ever played because

5:05

I've got to do just be a the

5:07

character Donnie is just an average Shmoe.

5:09

He's an everyday guy thrown

5:12

into extraordinary Orphan, and

5:15

I think it's really fun to watch regular

5:17

people go through such insane

5:20

happenstance. Yeah.

5:22

How do you how do you feel, like,

5:25

Donny Allison's relationship has changed,

5:27

like, from the very beginning through, like, this

5:29

season of the podcast?

5:33

From of this season, only

5:35

or are you talking about, like, from From the beginning

5:37

of the show, like, when we first mouthed.

5:39

Oh, wow. So much. I

5:42

mean, they

5:43

had, like, a very simple, normal,

5:46

quote unquote, normal boring

5:48

life. others. And

5:50

all

5:50

of a sudden, they realized that they were part of a

5:52

community that was way more

5:55

complex and interesting and

5:58

greater than they had ever encountered

5:59

before. So

6:01

I think as a couple navigating

6:04

through these huge life changes

6:06

that they were encountering as

6:08

individuals and as a family and as a

6:10

couple. When watching

6:12

all the ups and downs that that came in their

6:14

relationship, I think that's all the and

6:16

you'll see that as well. In in the seconds

6:18

of the podcast, you

6:21

know, their relationship gets tested a

6:24

a few times. And I

6:26

think that's all very normal. Like, I I actually

6:28

really enjoy watching a couple

6:30

navigate through life like that, and

6:33

they have grown so much as a couple

6:35

and they've grown so much as individuals. They

6:37

have met and gotten a known people that they

6:39

would never ever meet in their regular life.

6:42

And it has made them better

6:43

for it and also closer for

6:46

it?

6:48

There's a really good scene

6:51

in this current, like, the episode that just came

6:53

out today where Donnie and

6:55

Kira decide to

6:57

start a fan club for Alison to make her

6:59

feel better. What

7:01

was your kind of thought when you first

7:04

heard about that scene or read it?

7:05

I thought it was

7:08

really funny that Donnie was getting a

7:10

following from from the reality

7:12

TV show like a a more than Alison

7:14

because you would never expect that to happen, but but

7:16

the fact that that was happening was

7:18

was, I think, just

7:21

really enjoyable to read because usually

7:23

with Donnie, he's always there to support Allison.

7:26

So when he goes off on his own

7:28

adventures or gets his own little sort of

7:30

subplot,

7:31

the it's

7:32

always kind of fun to step away from that world

7:34

a little bit for a Bruun, but

7:36

everything really revolves around Allison. I mean,

7:38

she kinda runs the household. I think

7:40

I don't think that's a surprise to anyone out there.

7:43

So though

7:45

I really

7:45

enjoyed that. He did it out of a place of

7:47

love, and he also did it out of a place of knowing

7:49

that Allison was gonna be jealous of the attention

7:51

that he was getting. and

7:54

and he knew that he should probably

7:56

do something about that lest his

7:58

home life get a little bit

7:59

more

7:59

complicated or grumpy.

8:02

Yeah.

8:02

A lot of people in the comments are saying hashtag

8:04

deadbought Donnie, which is

8:08

the following. He

8:10

is acquired. Yep. Yeah.

8:13

That that I see that a lot on Twitter

8:15

as well, which is pretty funny.

8:18

So you

8:19

mentioned that reality show, which I think, like,

8:21

when I was first reading the season, was,

8:24

like, my favorite one of my favorite parts,

8:26

like, so funny. I wanna

8:28

watch this. So I would would really

8:30

it would really happen, and I would watch it.

8:32

Yeah. Would you

8:34

ever have your own reality show? And

8:36

what what would you want it to be about if you

8:38

had one?

8:40

Okay. First of all, no. I do not want

8:42

my reality TV show. Please,

8:45

Lord, no. That sounds

8:47

like a nightmare to me. I'll enjoy

8:49

watching the odd one here and there,

8:51

but,

8:51

my god, I don't wanna be a part of one. But

8:53

if I were

8:54

to have one. What would

8:56

it be? I love

8:58

a cooking show, actually. Some sort

9:00

of, I don't know,

9:01

reality cooking show. because

9:04

I'd like to cook in real life. And

9:07

so I don't know.

9:09

It'd have to be one of those food based reality TV

9:11

shows. with a crisp room

9:13

twist to it, whatever.

9:16

Try

9:16

to have, like, celebrity guests on competing

9:18

with each other. or, like, against

9:20

me, something like that. Yeah. So

9:22

a a competition too. Not

9:25

just, like Competition

9:26

reality TV show, like, a cooking

9:28

one.

9:29

where

9:31

it would

9:31

be fun to take people who have, like, no

9:34

experience cooking or maybe

9:36

very little and just try and get

9:38

people to, like, make

9:39

very complicated stuff and see what

9:41

happens. Oh my god. Sounds like

9:43

a rescue for disaster. Exactly.

9:47

Someone in the comments asked about, like,

9:49

transitioning Donnie from, like,

9:51

acting physically into to

9:53

audio only and and, like,

9:55

what that was like and

9:56

if it was difficult.

9:57

That's a good question.

10:02

so much of Donnie is just

10:04

me. Like, I don't

10:06

characterize him too much with any sort of a

10:08

dialect or any sort of physical

10:10

movement that's different than my own. He's

10:12

he's very closely linked to who I am

10:14

as a person, particularly and

10:16

vocally. though So

10:19

getting back into

10:21

just the voice was an interesting experience

10:23

because I didn't really have to worry about the physicality, which

10:25

I didn't really do so much as

10:27

an actor in the show, but

10:29

I was just hyper aware

10:32

of the voice. And and I got a little bit

10:34

self conscious when we started recording because

10:36

I was like, is this what sound

10:38

like? Is this what I sounded like

10:40

when we stopped the show, like, four years

10:42

ago? Like, is this what I sound like? was

10:44

this what I sounded like? It could

10:46

have gone back and rewatch the show and then,

10:48

like, you know, figure that out.

10:51

But I think by having Donnie

10:53

so closely linked to who I am, I

10:55

try not to stress too much about it and just

10:57

Bonus on the voice. I I also

11:00

didn't wanna make sure I I can get pretty

11:02

nasally sounding sometimes, and

11:04

I just wanted to make sure I didn't

11:06

lean into that too much and just stay

11:08

in the realm of Donnie. I when

11:10

I was in the booth recording, I

11:12

I was really, like, moving my

11:14

own spot and, like, being more physical

11:16

than I usually am. but that

11:18

sometimes

11:18

helps with heightening the sound that's

11:20

coming out of your body in a weird way.

11:23

Or if a line has to sound

11:25

happier like smile, you smile

11:27

your way through it as you're saying it

11:29

because it'll

11:29

come out that way. It it it sounds like

11:31

such a dumb weird concept, but

11:34

it's very when

11:36

you put

11:36

a microphone, like, right close to your face

11:39

and, like, headphones on that pick up

11:41

every single little sound,

11:43

breath, click of your tongue,

11:45

you know, how much

11:47

moisture is in your mouth, like every single

11:49

thing is picked up. It becomes you could

11:51

I'm very self conscious about it. So it's

11:54

a it's a

11:55

very different experience acting for

11:58

audio than just the whole

11:59

shebang. But I just tried not

12:02

to let it stress me and try not to think too

12:04

much about it and just focus on the

12:06

character and the work.

12:08

So we have this, like, behind the scenes video

12:10

of you trying to say I don't even know I

12:12

feel like I've heard it so I can say that. I

12:14

don't know if I can even say the right word.

12:16

Like, I don't know it Correct.

12:18

Wait a second. Banoffee.

12:22

Banoffee. Banoffee? Banoffee. I

12:24

don't know. But but Banoffee.

12:27

I

12:27

still can't say it.

12:28

Yeah. Was there were there any

12:31

other things that were, like, struggles

12:33

in the audio recording that

12:35

you remember? that

12:36

was the biggest struggle. And I think we

12:38

ended up nobody knew the answer to how

12:40

to pronounce that pie. I'd never hate.

12:42

look,

12:43

I love pie, but I had never heard of that

12:45

pie before. I think it's a British thing.

12:47

the But we had

12:49

to, like, look it up, And we tried to

12:51

watch some YouTube videos on the spot of, like,

12:53

how people were pronouncing it, and it was kind of

12:55

all over the place. And we

12:57

just I think we recorded

12:59

both versions or every different

13:01

kind of version we could come up with. They

13:03

divided in post, which to

13:05

go with. But that was

13:07

the biggest one that we tripped over. You

13:09

mean, you, you know, you screw up a line here and there

13:12

you you just kind of stop and

13:13

just maybe say, oh, no. I'm gonna take a sentence

13:16

again and you take a breath and you go back and you do it

13:18

again. But that one really threw

13:20

me for a loop. I just couldn't get

13:22

it right. It was ridiculous. I'm

13:23

really glad we got that one on

13:26

video though. Yeah. Great.

13:28

At one time, I was recording a

13:30

clip for a social. the

13:32

one time, but, you know, it really made the blooper it,

13:34

like, made the blooper real. Like,

13:36

so great. Good.

13:38

Someone said,

13:41

so that

13:41

they're really happy to have Donnie on season

13:43

two, which we all learn. Where

13:45

do you see Donnie and Alison story going?

13:47

And what would you like to happen?

13:50

Well,

13:50

I mean, there's still a few episodes left, so I

13:52

can't give out any spoilers.

13:56

I will tease that

13:59

poop is gonna hit the fan a little bit for

14:01

Donnie.

14:02

In coming episodes, I censored

14:04

myself and said poop. And,

14:07

you

14:09

know,

14:09

their relationship is gonna be tested as

14:12

the writers always love to do with us.

14:14

They love to test test test. So

14:16

that

14:16

definitely happens. And

14:19

that's

14:19

all I wanna say about that because I don't wanna keep anything

14:22

away. Really, you know, there's some

14:24

fun stuff

14:25

ahead. One

14:26

thing that I think is really cool

14:29

that I noticed because I'm, like,

14:31

on on our social media every day. It's, like, how

14:33

passionate clone club is still.

14:35

like it seems like, you know, a lot

14:37

of shows end or,

14:38

you know, carry

14:40

on

14:40

in different ways and it's

14:43

not as passionate as it was. But like I said,

14:45

there's always people talking about, like, I'm

14:47

rewatching again or I just started watching.

14:49

So

14:49

Like, what

14:51

do you think makes,

14:52

like, orphan black specifically?

14:55

So, like, not I guess, the kind

14:57

of timeless. Like, what that it just,

14:59

like, seems to just be getting like,

15:02

keep

15:02

going? Yeah. That's

15:03

that is a good question. I mean, a lot

15:05

of shows as soon as they're done kind

15:08

of fall away and

15:10

just, you know, become a distant memory and then

15:12

someone mentions it one day and you're like, oh, yeah. I love

15:14

that show. Mhmm. But yeah. Orphan is definitely

15:16

one of those shows that just you

15:18

still

15:18

see it on Twitter all the time. I still get messages

15:20

all the time on Twitter or on Instagram.

15:23

And it's really hardening

15:26

to see that, it still exists

15:28

in some way. And I think things like the podcast, keep

15:30

it going, and keep people

15:32

excited about the characters and about the

15:34

story.

15:35

And I

15:37

don't

15:37

know what it is about the show. I

15:40

mean, when we were filming the

15:42

first season and we were just calling

15:44

it our weird little show because we didn't

15:46

really know what we had in our hands. We're just like, this

15:48

is it's our

15:48

weird little show. We hope people like Kristian.

15:52

we knew something special was happening. We

15:54

could feel it on set. We felt like

15:56

this this

15:57

has potential to be really good, but you never know. Like,

15:59

so many good shows happen and,

16:02

like, don't even pick up an odd kind

16:04

of fizzle and disappear. So

16:06

we didn't know if that was gonna happen to us or not, but

16:08

we just kept you know, focusing

16:10

on on this family of clones.

16:12

And I mean, essentially, that's what the show is

16:14

about. It's about family. It's about community.

16:16

It's about coming together and

16:18

and through hardship.

16:20

And I think a lot of our fans relate to

16:22

that, and I think they connect to that. And

16:24

I think the you

16:26

know, that really helps build

16:28

this community of fans

16:31

who, like, you know, before

16:32

there was this crazy pandemic going on,

16:35

they

16:35

would meet up in different cities and, like,

16:38

cosplay and parks and, like, you know,

16:40

meet up and and and form friendships

16:43

through the show and through fandome

16:45

online, and it

16:47

really took the themes of the show and ran with

16:49

it in real life. And I think that's one reason why

16:51

it lasts. Yeah.

16:53

I agree. And one person also mentioned that

16:55

there's, like, so many characters that like,

16:58

everyone has someone to relate to, which I think is a

17:00

good point too. Another

17:03

oh, so somebody asked this is fine. So we

17:05

actually did just start releasing some more

17:07

from Black March, so everybody can check

17:09

out our merch store. and there's

17:11

fun stuff in there, but somebody says, like, what would be a good

17:13

Donnie

17:13

merch? Like, what would you wanna have for, like,

17:15

Donnie's fan club as merch? Come

17:18

on. Louise, hey. is

17:20

definitely. Other than

17:23

that,

17:23

maybe Donnie's prison

17:25

jumpsuit from the show would be kinda cool.

17:28

I

17:29

mean, here's the thing. I felt like

17:32

for Donnie's wardrobe, they raided my stepdad's

17:34

closet and just like put the clothes

17:36

on. Mhmm. It's not the most

17:39

memorable no insult to my

17:41

stepdad, but it's memorable

17:43

clothing that that I've worn.

17:45

So there's no, like, piece

17:47

that stands out beside, like, the underwear

17:50

or, like, the orange jumpsuit.

17:52

the

17:54

Now maybe, like,

17:57

remember

17:57

a fan handed me an orange

17:59

t shirt that had like a

18:01

get Donnie out of jail.

18:04

picture on the front. And I

18:06

love that t short t and

18:08

I would love to see something like that company

18:10

or something like that. No. We're we're

18:12

from Black just free, Donnie, and people would be like, what

18:14

is this from? If you know,

18:16

you know. Right.

18:17

That's the best merch in my opinion. Totally.

18:21

Totally. So someone else

18:23

asked what I mean, this is a big

18:25

question. There's probably a lot of things. But what on-site

18:27

did you learn from some of the

18:29

other actors that you still carry

18:31

with you? Well,

18:32

from Kevin

18:35

Hanchard, I learned who played

18:37

art.

18:37

I learned that always wear

18:40

deodorant. Otherwise, you'll smell like Kevin Hanchard

18:42

after a long day of work. So that was

18:44

important. He's a very

18:46

smelly individual. he'll tell you. He'll be the first

18:48

to tell you that he's got crazy

18:50

body odor. No.

18:53

I love Kevin. he's

18:54

probably not watching, but someone someone

18:57

tell him what I said, please. I

19:00

mean, we all learn so much from

19:02

each other. We got a long so well. We loved

19:04

working with each other. And

19:06

some things that I really

19:09

appreciated in terms of an actor and watching

19:11

another actor's process Jordan

19:14

with his accent

19:15

was so good and so

19:17

tight and he had he did this thing that I'd never seen

19:20

before. where when he showed up at work,

19:22

he would immediately be in the dialect

19:24

and he

19:24

would stay with the English accent all

19:27

day until he clocked out, until he was

19:29

done filming the day when he would

19:31

then drop the dialect and speak

19:33

in his normal voice. And I've

19:35

said this before in interviews, but

19:38

I didn't know he wasn't British for,

19:41

like, most of the first season because

19:43

anytime I saw him, because I didn't have too many

19:45

scenes with him, anytime I saw him that was on set, like,

19:48

passing a scene, like, on his way to a scene, and I

19:50

was just finishing or whatever, and he would have

19:52

an English accent on. So I was like, oh, this English

19:54

guy is so talented. you know, he's

19:56

so good at what he does. And then,

19:58

like, late late in the first season,

20:00

like, an embarrassingly long amount of

20:02

time that I had known him I

20:04

was passing him outside

20:06

by the trailers, and he was done for the day.

20:08

And I think I was going in to shoot a scene. And

20:10

I was like, oh, see you during have a good day, and

20:12

he was like, You

20:13

too have a good one. And I was

20:15

like, whoa. Whoa.

20:17

What? And it just blew my mind,

20:19

but I really appreciated his process of

20:21

working with that dialect. because

20:23

when you jump

20:24

in and out of using a dialect, it can be

20:27

it can get jumbled up with your own.

20:29

You can lose certain sounds and

20:31

shift that are important to make it authentic. And I

20:33

really appreciated his dedication to those

20:35

dialects on on how he would

20:39

maintain it. And, I mean, I have

20:41

British friends who watched the show and just

20:43

assumed he was British. I mean, the accent is

20:45

flawless. So good. So I really like

20:47

that about him. TAB

20:49

always

20:49

impressed me when she was switching

20:52

between the clones because she had

20:54

a different physicality for each one. She had

20:56

a different spirit animal for each

20:58

one that she would explore. Like, she really

21:00

when she was when we'd

21:01

have to, like, change her over into

21:04

another clone, on

21:05

set. So if you're filming with a couple clones

21:07

that day, it took like a good hour

21:10

or more to take

21:13

off the wig or undo the hair of the one

21:15

clone, take the makeup off to

21:17

neutral, build up the new makeup for the next

21:19

clone and wig or hair for the

21:21

next clone, and that takes a long amount of

21:23

time. And then also, like, as she

21:25

was, you know, changing into the

21:27

next clone, like, in her trailer, she

21:29

would

21:29

have sort of

21:31

warm up to physically

21:34

and vocally get into the

21:36

next clone. And and I won't

21:38

speak to her process more than that. I mean, I

21:40

think that's that's more for her to say, but I really

21:42

appreciated that how much depth went to

21:44

each character and how

21:46

specific she was with that so that she

21:48

could

21:48

play each clone differently.

21:50

It

21:51

was always it

21:53

was always so impressive to see

21:56

and would always throw

21:56

me when I would act with her as a different

21:59

clone because there's my buddy, Tat,

22:01

but who is this person that I

22:03

haven't worked with yet? And what are they doing

22:05

in Tats body? It was it was

22:07

really,

22:07

really kind of freaky. Kevin

22:10

has a really good way

22:12

of

22:12

of he

22:14

can

22:14

he can carry

22:17

gravitas so well.

22:19

and

22:19

yet still be able to be fun and

22:22

have improv elements with that

22:24

while maintaining like, I improv

22:26

with comedy and I'm I'm

22:28

a goofy you know, idiot sometimes.

22:30

And and we have fun and Donnie and Allison

22:32

are quite a fun couple. Pat and I

22:34

both have a new prop background, and we really

22:36

love to banter and have fun and and

22:38

add buttons on the scenes and come up with things

22:40

in the scenes. And I think

22:42

Kevin is able to do that in a really serious

22:44

way that works very well. Like, if you watch the

22:46

stuff that he's done with

22:48

Helena, like, when she's, like, eating

22:50

in his apartment and all this stuff, like,

22:52

he can find comedy but still maintain

22:55

that that gravitas. He's not

22:57

he's not pushing the comedy, and I I

22:59

always appreciate that appreciated that.

23:01

about

23:01

him. And, I mean,

23:03

I I can

23:04

say something about every cast member, I

23:06

think, because we really just loved each

23:08

other so much and we hung out with each

23:11

other you know,

23:11

offset. And whenever we're in the same

23:13

city together, we see each other still

23:16

and keep in touch on text and

23:18

everything. It's just such a

23:20

lovely family. It was such a gift to get to work with

23:22

these people. Howard Bauchner: I

23:24

do feel like even, you know,

23:26

we all know that Tatiana does

23:28

a ton of different clones in the show, but in audio

23:30

too, it's like kind of shock. Like, it always

23:32

shocks me that I can tell who they who

23:34

they are knowing that it's just in

23:36

her voice. Like, every single time

23:38

it's just like a shocking revelation

23:41

for me. So Yeah. I

23:43

can only imagine. Yeah.

23:45

It's it's

23:45

really off put

23:48

It's the

23:48

weirdest is if

23:51

so the way we

23:51

shoot TV is, you

23:53

know, you're shooting a jumble of scenes

23:55

out of order. So let's say

23:58

she's playing Helena in the

24:00

morning and then Alison in the afternoon,

24:02

and I'll come in in the afternoon to

24:04

film with Alison. But

24:06

when she's done filming with Helena, like, I'm standing by

24:09

ready to go to the set,

24:11

you know, on our in

24:13

her house, and will, like,

24:15

rehearse the scene and get, like, the

24:17

camera movements and the blocking done with the

24:19

director and camera crew so that they know

24:21

where to set up the cameras part

24:24

of where to do where to do the right lighting

24:26

and and then

24:28

they'll go and change Tatiana into

24:30

the next clone while they're setting up all the lights so

24:32

that it's kind of as little time as possible

24:34

as wasted. So on

24:37

the way from, like,

24:39

finishing the scene that you would play as

24:41

Helena, and to

24:43

where we would start rehearsing the scene

24:45

as Alison and Donnie,

24:47

she

24:47

would be dressed as Helena, but

24:50

would be dropping all

24:52

other Helena mannerisms

24:54

and being Alison,

24:56

which

24:57

would like really mess up

24:59

up. because you're just saying, whoa.

25:01

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

25:03

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.

25:05

Whoa. Whoa. I don't get it?

25:08

that always threw me off before she'd done a full change

25:10

and you're like, you're with some Alison

25:12

Helena hybrid, which is a scary

25:15

thought. That is really scary.

25:17

don't

25:17

want

25:18

to become

25:20

hybrid.

25:21

Maybe

25:22

that's in another next

25:25

iteration of their hybrids.

25:26

three ideas.

25:28

Just reminding

25:30

anybody who's who's

25:32

come in in the middle of the

25:34

chat. about we're talking about orphan

25:36

black in general, but also orphan black the

25:38

next chapter. Christians

25:39

in season two, along

25:42

with Evelyn and

25:44

Jordan Tatiana voices

25:46

all the clones again. So

25:48

it's available anywhere you get podcasts. So

25:50

you can You can just

25:52

Google it. You'll find it. So

25:54

a a good question that I

25:56

thought was interesting. Is somebody asked what clone

25:58

you would want to have more

25:59

scenes with? I mean,

26:01

Helena. I loved love

26:03

we had so much fun.

26:05

I loved obviously, I love working with Alison,

26:08

but after

26:10

a while, you you wanna shake it up and, like,

26:12

see who else is out there. And

26:15

Helena was just always so much fun

26:17

because Tatiana

26:18

the

26:19

improving as Helena was just a wild

26:22

card. You just had no idea what was

26:24

gonna come out, and it was

26:27

so much fun in a scary way

26:29

to just try and keep up with that

26:31

one.

26:31

Yeah. Elena, hands

26:33

down. Kevin

26:35

is

26:35

in the trap, by the way. Oh,

26:38

boy. Oh, no.

26:41

I know he's listening. He

26:44

says you probably learned how to be a better actor

26:46

from him. Wow. Well,

26:47

you should have heard what I said about your

26:49

body odor earlier. Oh.

26:52

Yeah. Exactly.

26:54

Oh, someone

26:55

someone asked, this is interesting. I never thought about

26:58

this, but have you ever watched any of Orphan Black

27:00

in another language where they

27:02

somebody

27:02

was dubbed over you. I

27:05

always have wanted to

27:08

so I wanted to see the German version of me

27:10

because the gentleman who

27:13

voices my voice, he lives in

27:15

Cologne and he's a Radio DJ, and

27:17

we've traded a few messages

27:19

here and there. And he actually

27:21

he sent me the German

27:24

orphan black, but I

27:27

couldn't play it because it was on a it was for

27:29

European Blu ray players.

27:31

So I've I still gotta figure out a way

27:33

to, like, watch it

27:34

and hear what he's done with my voice.

27:36

But I've always wanted to hear especially the

27:39

German one And

27:41

also, there was a Japanese version of the show.

27:44

They they made a Japanese version

27:46

of the show, re filmed it

27:48

and everything in Japanese.

27:52

And I remember finding some clips and

27:54

showing my castmates. And

27:56

the guy played Donnie was

27:59

hilarious.

27:59

Like,

27:59

really over the top areas.

28:03

I would love to watch that

28:05

series with English subtitles.

28:08

the So if

28:09

there's any way to do that, someone

28:11

let me know. Hit me up. Fly into

28:13

my DMs. Let me know how to

28:16

watch. That's

28:16

that I that

28:18

sounds amazing. Like, I am interested.

28:21

I remember seeing a

28:22

clip somewhere on online.

28:24

googling it, and I think it was just

28:27

like a trailer for it.

28:28

And we all sat

28:30

around walk like my phone watching me be like,

28:32

I think that's I think that's Donnie, and think that's Felix.

28:34

And I think that, like, just trying to figure

28:36

out why through the way they

28:38

dress the characters, and

28:41

who they're standing next to, and then, of course, all the

28:43

clones, I guess, was fascinating. I really

28:45

wanna

28:46

watch that.

28:48

Somebody asked I'm just going

28:50

through the tracks. It's I'm saying a lot of

28:52

it's Kevin. I don't know. They're

28:54

like Kevin's being hilarious in my track,

28:56

which is true. Boli

28:58

me, Kevin, get back to

29:00

your

29:01

dog cop show. Kevin,

29:04

we're called

29:04

Hudson and Rex, which I did an episode of.

29:07

which shoots in Newfoundland. And

29:09

Kevin and I had amazing I was

29:11

there for ten days filming. This would have been

29:14

this summer before the

29:16

pandemic hit. And,

29:18

Kenneth and I had a great time

29:20

reunited in Newfoundland. That was a

29:22

fun fun trip and a great show to work on. So

29:24

if you get a chance, watch

29:25

Kevin in Hudson

29:27

and Rex. See,

29:29

Kevin,

29:29

you got some you do get some time.

29:31

You got

29:32

some time here. Yeah.

29:34

Someone did ask if the next chapter

29:36

is part of the whole orphan black canon. And, yes,

29:39

it's it's a direct continuation

29:41

of the show. I believe it starts about

29:43

seven years later. after the show.

29:45

And the first season, Tatiana, voices

29:48

everyone and including

29:51

Donnie, and and also narrates

29:53

the whole thing. So it's a lot But

29:55

in season two,

29:57

ah

29:58

Christian and Evelyn

30:01

and

30:01

Jordan all come back and reprise their roles

30:03

as well. So go look for

30:05

it wherever he was in a podcast. Someone

30:09

asked about more Donnie and Delphine scenes,

30:12

which

30:12

would be Cool. That would be

30:13

cool. Yeah. I met up with

30:15

Evelyn recently because I'm in Montreal

30:17

right now, filming a new show for Netflix,

30:19

and Evelyn lives in Montreal, and

30:21

had brunch the other day and had a good catch

30:24

up. It was just so good to see her because

30:26

I hadn't seen her since we did some press stuff

30:28

for the last season. So

30:30

it'd been quite a few years,

30:32

but that would be a lot of fun. I mean, I

30:34

I can't think of too, like,

30:37

whether it's Well, Deltheon would be

30:39

much more kind, obviously. So

30:41

she's much more gracious. She

30:43

would be a she would be a fun pairing

30:45

with Donnie. as

30:47

opposed to, like, she's a very opposite

30:49

character to Donnie. So it'd be interesting to see how

30:51

she, like, carries herself around

30:53

Donnie as opposed to someone who's an

30:55

opposite, like, Rachel, who's just, like,

30:56

straight up terrifying to

30:59

die. Yeah. Well,

31:00

that would also

31:02

terrifying to everyone. Bye,

31:04

Kevin. Love you, bro.

31:06

the Comments

31:07

there. Love

31:09

that guy. As

31:11

much as I make

31:11

fun of me. I

31:13

was going to ask

31:16

about, like, what other projects do you have

31:18

coming up that people can? CUN

31:21

Oops. You mentioned one?

31:23

Yes.

31:23

So there's this new show for Netflix. It's

31:25

a new spy thriller starring

31:28

Noah Centineo. and we're filming

31:30

in Montreal right now. I actually don't think

31:32

we've released the name of the

31:34

show. I know the name that we're going

31:36

with, but it might not be the actual name that they end up

31:38

with. So might as well

31:40

not say it, the trouble. But right

31:43

now, the untitled No

31:43

Asentineo project,

31:46

it's an awesome

31:48

spy thriller. It's the producers

31:50

of suits and covered affairs, and

31:52

it's kind of about lawyers at

31:54

the CIA. So it's a really

31:56

fun high who shows. But it's the

31:59

the writing is so sexy Holly

32:01

who is the

32:03

show the rookie is the head writer

32:05

on this and the creator of it, and it is

32:07

a fascinating sort of spy

32:09

thriller, dark comedy. Snow

32:13

appears, sir. Season three is coming out,

32:15

I think, next week, question

32:17

mark, or in the next two weeks.

32:19

and that Gray Manson who's one of the creators of

32:21

orphan black, he's the show runner

32:23

of Snowpiercer with Aubrey Neland, who

32:25

is one of our had writers

32:27

of our producers. So

32:30

I was in British Columbia last year during

32:32

the pandemic, and they were filming the third season.

32:34

They knew I was in town, so they

32:37

episodes

32:37

for fun with

32:39

a very goofy character

32:42

on that train that never

32:44

stops. So yeah. So check it out. I pop up every

32:46

once in a while for a quick scene, a little

32:48

bit of comedy, a little bit of hilarity here

32:50

and there and see three of

32:52

Snowpiercer. What

32:55

else? I did two seasons of a show

32:57

with Jerry O'Connell

33:00

and Sydney Poirier Hart who

33:02

is daughter of Sydney Poirier, recipes

33:04

to that amazing man.

33:06

That's called Carter. And

33:09

I think you can watch that on IMDB TV

33:11

in the States. Yeah.

33:14

And I just pop up in things here

33:16

and there all over the place. Ready or

33:18

not? Really fun,

33:21

horror action thriller comedy

33:22

movie that came out just

33:23

before the pandemic. And actually, the

33:26

director's new film, there's

33:28

a few directors on that their new

33:30

film is scream, which is coming out, which

33:32

I'm not in, but I cannot wait to

33:34

see because they're masters of

33:36

suspense and horror

33:38

and thrillers. So that's gonna be

33:40

a great movie. I'm not in that, but, hey, go

33:42

see a chat up screen.

33:44

yes, you were great and ready or not.

33:46

Someone said. And I think ready or not was

33:48

such a great movie, so I agree. Oh,

33:51

much fun. That was another another

33:52

another project where you

33:54

just everybody loved working with each other and was

33:56

a big ensemble comedy. And

33:59

when we were done filming it, we were

34:00

like, do we have to stop? Can we just

34:02

please keep working Someone

34:04

wants you to play a serial killer

34:07

and I'm like, is that good or bad? Yes. Please. I

34:09

would love to play

34:10

we i would love to play

34:12

a suit. It's it's that would be hilarious, but

34:14

also terrifying.

34:16

For sure, but but so much fun.

34:18

I I auditioned for

34:22

you know, auditioned for

34:23

one recently, didn't get it.

34:25

He

34:25

was a famous serial killer. It would have been really

34:28

fun. But who knows? Maybe down the

34:30

line somewhere. I'll get to play

34:32

something really dark and edgy like

34:34

that.

34:34

So you teased

34:36

a little bit earlier

34:40

about like,

34:40

kind of the rest of season two. Do you have anything else you want,

34:42

like, people to look forward to or just,

34:44

like, a favorite thing you have

34:46

coming

34:46

up that people should be on the lookout for?

34:49

in season two? Yeah.

34:52

I

34:53

mean,

34:54

I just always love

34:58

when when

34:59

Donnie gets into trouble, whether it's

35:01

with Allison or in general,

35:03

and that starts to creep

35:05

up very soon. regarding this fan

35:08

club and yeah. I just

35:10

love it. And and a lot of Donnie stuff

35:12

is lighter and it's not as

35:14

dark and heavy as a lot of the other

35:16

storylines that are happening in the show. So and

35:18

that's always been the case with the TV show as

35:20

well. So

35:22

I always I think it's a

35:24

nice break for the audience to get something to

35:26

laugh about. And, yeah, I just

35:28

hope they enjoy, you know,

35:30

watching Donnie stewing it a

35:32

little bit.

35:33

Well, thank you so much for taking

35:35

the time to chat today about

35:38

the next

35:38

chapter and just working black in general and

35:40

serial killers and everything else. And

35:42

Kevin's

35:44

body odor is

35:44

Hey, Kevin. Yeah. A lot of Yeah.

35:47

Everything about Kevin. So Just

35:52

so everyone I was like, I'm gonna say it

35:54

again. For

35:54

everyone who's been here the whole time, you'll hear it

35:56

again. But we're talking about working black the

35:58

next chapter. It's a

35:59

podcast, audio continuation of the

36:02

the TV show. It picks

36:04

up about seven years after names and season

36:06

one who were in the middle of season two

36:08

right now. So if you're just finding out about it, you have a lot to listen

36:10

to. So congratulations.

36:12

Thanks for tuning in. Thanks

36:15

so much, Christian, for taking the time,

36:18

and have a great rest of your

36:20

day. Thank you

36:20

so much for having me. I really appreciate

36:22

it. Thank you to the fans out

36:25

there. for letting the show live

36:27

on because without you, we wouldn't be

36:29

making more content. So you guys demand

36:31

it and we keep coming up

36:33

with it. So keep enjoying it and spread the word and enjoy

36:35

it and thank you to real

36:38

media. Oh, yeah. I I kept seeing

36:40

someone ask a question if I was

36:42

nervous doing the underwear dancing

36:44

scene. Nope. Not at all. That was just pure

36:46

fun. and I just kind of

36:48

improv that whole thing and they let us just

36:50

do it as they rotate the cameras around us in slow had

36:52

so much fun doing that one. That was a

36:54

blast. When you have seen

36:56

partners good as Tatiana, you

36:59

don't have to worry in good hands. So yeah. Thank

37:02

you guys so much.

37:04

It's blast and hopefully we'll

37:06

get to do more. But if not,

37:08

that not You guys

37:09

are the best. Keep on keeping on

37:12

and let Crone Club live on

37:14

forever. Keep enjoying

37:15

the show. It's

37:17

Marco again. Back

37:19

with

37:20

that extra bonus I promised you.

37:22

Bonus you're waiting

37:25

for the next episode of Orphan Black the next chapter, we thought you

37:27

might like to binge another realm

37:29

show called memory lane, written by the

37:31

author of the Pretty Little

37:34

series. Memory Lane is a mother daughter's psychological

37:36

thriller about the dangers of memory.

37:38

And guess what? Season two

37:42

just premiered. Check out this trailer for season one and all

37:44

now. Listen to memory lane wherever

37:46

you get your podcasts.

37:52

For years, I've

37:53

been trying to get my

37:55

mom to talk about her past.

37:58

This study might reveal things

37:59

I've always

37:59

wanted to

38:02

know. about her, about my

38:03

dad, about

38:05

me. The hope is that you and

38:07

your mother have similar enough

38:10

brains for the memories to transfer smoothly. As Cassie

38:12

might have mentioned, she selected a series of

38:14

memories from when she was pregnant with you

38:17

she wants to pass on. I want

38:20

answers about my mother's past.

38:22

Yes. But I can't

38:24

help worrying I won't like

38:26

what I find. After all, it's not like I don't have ghosts

38:28

of my own.

38:32

A memory.

38:32

please.

38:34

Maybe this is what she's

38:35

been running from all this

38:38

time. The

38:38

terrible thing that happened

38:40

to her, someone tried

38:42

i'm

38:43

to kill her. One way or

38:46

another,

38:46

I'm getting answers. Even

38:48

if I have to break my

38:51

brain to do

38:54

it. Realm presents

Orphan Black: The Next Chapter

After a groundbreaking event changes the world, all clones— familiar and unknown— must face the consequences.Starring Emmy award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany, Realm presents the official continuation of the hit TV series Orphan Black. “The sequel fans deserve.” —Comicbook.com“Wildly fun, sexy sci-fi.” —Chicago Sun-TimesSince their victory against Project Leda eight years ago, the original sestras—Sarah, Alison, Cosima, and those they love—have been free to live quiet, anonymous lives. But that anonymity comes at a cost: Cosima is unable to pursue the cutting-edge science that saved her life; Sarah’s daughter Kira is suffocated by her mother’s insistence on secrecy; and Charlotte, the youngest Leda clone, questions why her family gets to survive while other, unaware clones get sick and die. Everything changes when Vivi Valdez, a CIA Agent, discovers she, too, is a clone—and goes rogue. Vivi’s pursuit of the truth brings chaos to the original Clone Club when one of them is accused of murder. To prove their innocence, they must step out of the shadows and publicly claim the secret they’ve sacrificed everything to protect. Family ties will be tested, long-lasting alliances betrayed, and the future of all clones hangs in the balance.Season 2 picks up where Season 1 leaves off, with (spoiler alert!) the Clones exposed to the general public. Now that the news is out, hundreds of previously unaware clones strive for justice and clash with anti-clone protestors. In the middle of it all, the Sestras and their families wrestle with the consequences of their actions, and what it means for their future.  Emmy Award-winning Orphan Black actress Tatiana Maslany returns for Season 2, but is now joined by original TV show cast members Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Evelyne Brochu (Delphine), and Kristian Bruun (Donnie). Orphan Black: The Next Chapter is a Realm production written by Malka Older, Madeline Ashby, Mishell Baker, Heli Kennedy, E.C. Myers, and Lindsay Smith. Listen Away. For more shows like this, visit Realm.fm
