About Our Sailor Stories
"Our Sailor Stories" is the USS Hornet Museum's NEW Donor Exclusive Content: a podcast highlighting the service of our volunteers. Throughout this podcast, we'll hear stories from those who are currently serving in our Aircraft & Ship Restoration, Collections & Exhibits, Radio Division, and as Docents aboard the USS Hornet CVS-12.

About the episode: Hidden Heros of WWII
Donnie Nicholson, USS Hornet Museum Collections Technician shares his experience in serving both on deck and with the youth of his community. In the episode, Donnie shares behind-the-scenes details about some of the projects he has worked on and entices us with potential projects of the future. 

About the USS Hornet Sea, Air, & Space Museum
Berthed at the historic Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA, the Museum’s mission supports educating the public about the USS Hornet’s key role in American history in the 20th century from WWII to the Apollo space program, and provides an ideal platform for education in STEM, naval history, aviation, and lunar exploration.

Operation: ACE (Aircraft Collection Enhancement)
Aircraft from WWII to the present, mostly from Hornet‘s decorated 27 years of service, are the centerpiece of our collection, second only to the ship herself. More than just static exhibits, these airplanes and helicopters are cared for by dedicated volunteers and teach young and old about the science of flight and aircraft engineering, while telling many stories from the evolution of technology to the heroes who flew them.
