And I don't wear the white makeup in the red nose or anything like

0:03

that, but I'm still a clown. I love to infuse comedy as much as, you know, I think I'm funny, but, you know,

0:10

so I, I try to infuse comedy into things.

0:13

I like to bring the party to a business because, you know, when we are working

0:18

so hard on our business, we sometimes forget that we're doing this because

0:24

we want to have a better life. We want to have fun.

0:27

If we wanted to just have a job, we'd go get a job, right?

0:44

Oh, welcome back to out of the box with Christine.

1:25

I am your host, Christine Blosdale, your expert authority, business coach,

1:29

podcast coach, you know, YouTube coach tick tocker, you name it.

1:34

When it comes to media, I am your girl, your, your, your burl, your boy,

1:39

girl, whatever gender nonconforming.

1:42

Hello everybody. Welcome. I, this show, okay.

1:46

If you, if you have a drink. It could be coffee.

1:50

It could be vodka, whatever, wherever you're, whatever time you're listening

1:53

to this, just pour yourself one and just strap in because today's

1:59

show is going to be fantastic. I've been really looking forward to this.

2:02

And and, and it's happening now.

2:05

My guest today is the phenomenal What the radical prophet fairy who

2:11

is Heather Zeitzwolfe, she, you know what this lady epitomizes just about

2:19

everything that I try to convey to my clients about being unique.

2:25

You, you, Nick being you, Nick your brand is you, right?

2:29

But also using all these tools that you have at your disposal,

2:33

podcasting social media, the tick tocks and reels and all of that.

2:37

And I just, I came across her and I said, she's got to come on the show.

2:41

So Heather Zeitz Wolf, thank you so much for coming on out

2:44

of the box with Christine. Thank you.

2:47

I, I love, I love this. I've got my stay weird shirt on.

2:51

I'm. I'm as out of the box as you can get, so I don't even think I could fit in the box.

2:59

Well, that's, that's why I had to have you on and, and I wore

3:02

my special glasses for you. Normally they're, they're black for those of you who are listening

3:06

on the audio podcast platforms, such as Spotify and Apple podcasts.

3:11

Thank you for listening. But if you want to watch our conversation, you can go to YouTube

3:16

and check out the show there at out of the box with Christine.

3:19

But I have my special red flair glasses on for you.

3:23

And I don't do that very often, but the radical profit fairy,

3:31

tell us a bit about that because you, your, your profession is something that

3:35

maybe not a lot of people would go.

3:38

Yay. That sounds like such interesting stuff, but you make it interesting.

3:43

You make it fun. I hope so.

3:46

Thank you very much. Yes. You know, when I meet people and I tell them I'm a CPA, if they're not

3:52

seeing me visually, they're like, okay.

3:54

But if they see me, they're like, whoa, wait a minute.

3:57

That just like is kind of disruptive because I'm not like, you know, your butt

4:01

down guy with the tie and you know, when the calculator and the, all that kind

4:06

of stuff, you know, I, I break the mold.

4:09

But I have to tell you that there are other wacky accountants out there.

4:13

I have met them. So I'm not the only one, but I might be one of the few with pink hair and it

4:18

calls myself the radical profit fairy. But yes, I got to make this stuff fun because business owners do

4:23

not want to even think about the financial side of business.

4:29

They just want to think about all the fun stuff, like doing marketing

4:33

and reels and all that stuff.

4:36

And yeah, they don't want to even. Think about money and I worked with a lot of creatives and it's

4:42

like, they're like spreadsheets.

4:46

Well, and, and we were having a conversation before

4:49

I hit the record button. We we were having conversation about the fact that especially

4:53

solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, you know, creatives, life coaches, well,

4:59

you know, wellness coaches, thought leaders, all these people, they're.

5:04

They're very talented, right? And they have all this beautiful wisdom and, and skills to share with the world.

5:10

But when it comes to taxes and when it comes to the finances, they're

5:14

like, you know, it's, you could hear that, that screeching car.

5:19

And then a bit of a crash because it's, it's something that we're

5:23

also not taught when we're young. We're We're like avoid that or we witness our parents fighting over,

5:29

you know, the shoe box comes out of the closet with the receipts and

5:33

everybody's all stressed in the household. We're not taught to embrace that.

5:38

And I have a little a nifty little thing and you can use it.

5:41

If you like, what I do is when it's that time of the year, it's like the

5:46

time of the month, when it's that time of the year, what I do is instead of

5:51

saying, I have to pay taxes, And as so many people say, I've got to pay

5:56

my taxes, I say, I get to pay my taxes and my friends go, and I said, well,

6:04

if I didn't make any money, I wouldn't be paying any taxes, but I make money.

6:10

So I get to pay taxes because I've made money.

6:15

And so it just flips the script a little bit.

6:17

Does that make sense? Yes, exactly.

6:19

I mean, it is a good thing if you have to pay taxes.

6:22

I mean, yes, there are ways of reducing how much tax that you

6:25

have to pay and all those types of things or strategies around that.

6:29

But it means that your business is actually making

6:31

money if you are paying taxes. Yes.

6:34

And yes. And I, my method is I set it and forget it.

6:39

So I. Figure out what I'm going to owe for the year.

6:42

And I set things up, I'm in America.

6:44

So I set it up through the IRS and I set it up through my state and the money just

6:48

comes directly out of my bank account.

6:50

And I don't even have to think about it. So that's like one less stress I have to deal with.

6:54

And, but a lot of people, yes, it's like that quarterly thing.

6:57

They're like, Oh my God, I got to pay taxes. And it's so stressful.

7:00

And another thing is true is, well, back in the olden days when I would

7:04

do my tax thing and I'd have to send my payment because I would always file

7:09

for an extension, by the way, I was not going to be like everybody else.

7:13

And April 15th, I was like, that's not for me.

7:16

I'm going to push it back because I need to.

7:19

But when I this was in the olden days when you would write a

7:21

check and I would write a check. To the to the IRS and I would say in the memo section, I would say, please use

7:31

this money for good and peaceful purposes, knowing that still like 70 cents of the

7:37

dollar goes to military and war, but, but I was like, I, I just wanted to bless

7:42

the money as it was leaving, you know and hopefully maybe there's some little bean

7:48

counter in the, in the IRS is going to see this note and go, yes, we should do that.

7:53

Thank you. Yes, I, you know, I wish, I wish that was yeah, I wish that was the

8:01

reality, but you set your intention. So maybe you sent it out into the universe, but you know, I'm, I'm a vegan.

8:07

And so I have a lot of, like, my, my clients are very ethical there.

8:12

A lot of them are environmentalists. I live in Portland, Oregon, and that's very important.

8:16

And you know, I meet people sometimes and they're like, I don't want to

8:21

file taxes because, you know, I don't want the money going towards military.

8:24

And I totally understand that. But at the same time, you don't want to go to jail, you know?

8:28

So, no, I don't look good in orange. No.

8:34

Let's talk about, because we, you know, one of the things that I mentioned

8:37

when I introduced you is that I love, I love your, the branding.

8:41

I love your branding. And I hate to even use the word branding because it's just you,

8:45

but I love that you bring you.

8:48

Out into the world and to, to let people know, of course, what it is that you do.

8:52

And it's not just, you don't just do people's taxes.

8:57

You do much more than that, don't you? Yes.

9:00

So I well, I also offer bookkeeping services as well, but I also

9:04

have a business incubator. So I really love to get it all up in people's business, you know,

9:10

and, you know, just, if you're just looking at your business.

9:14

finances at tax time, it is just way too late.

9:17

So I like to be able to help people throughout the year.

9:20

And so I put together this incubator so that I could help clients.

9:25

All the way through the year with their business, not only with finance, but

9:29

also working on goals and strategies, because really everything comes down

9:32

to making money in your business. I mean, what, what your offers are, your pricing, your sales, generating

9:39

leads, all your marketing, like all. It really comes down to helping you generate that net profit that

9:46

you want to make in your business. So, I'm helping them all through the year and it's really great and,

9:51

you know, I wanted to have something where people couldn't afford my higher

9:55

level services that I was able to offer something at a lower price so

9:58

they could still have access to me. So, so that's what I've been doing and I'm, and that's under

10:02

Get Radical With Your Business. Love it.

10:06

I love it. Yeah. And I, I also, I'm the same way because I, well, because I think that there's

10:11

a lot of talent out there and maybe they don't have the resources to do

10:16

a big, huge, massive program with me.

10:18

So I also offer, I have those entry level type things and I do a lot of.

10:24

Free workshops, online workshops and masterclasses and things like that.

10:28

And even though it is, it is a lot of my time and I'm sharing

10:31

my brain power and all of that.

10:34

It's a great way to bring in people who want to have an appetizer or they

10:39

don't, they're like, I think I like her.

10:41

I think she's, she looks good on paper.

10:45

She looks good on paper. She's got all this stuff, a best selling book, and you know, she's

10:49

been doing this for 25 years. Okay, but I'm not certain yet.

10:54

And so those opportunities that when you offer something for free, when people

11:00

come in, then they can get a taste of you and they can go, Oh, I like her

11:04

personality, or I really, I think she's, this is someone who can Oh, thank you.

11:08

Keep me accountable. That's a big part of it as well, isn't it?

11:12

It's totally, yes. And I offer free workshops every month as well.

11:17

And I sometimes have networking meetings and other kinds of meetups.

11:21

And it's so much fun, especially if you're in podcasting, because

11:25

I have a podcast as well. Truth be told, I'm, right now I'm doubling down on Reels so I'm not

11:33

focused on my podcast right, right now. You know, you have to choose your battles in life.

11:36

I love podcasting. With podcasting, you know, we don't see the audience and so it's great as a

11:42

podcaster to invite people that are in your audience to something and get to see

11:48

them and get to know them and chat with them and find out what, what they need

11:51

from you and want and all those things.

11:53

So I love. Doing meetups like that.

11:56

And you never know who's, you know, you never know who's watching you.

12:00

You never know who's listening to your podcast. You never know who's reading your article or your blog, or, you know,

12:06

I, I remember a time when I was writing for America online and this

12:12

was when America online was it. That was it. It's that horrible sounding screeching.

12:17

If you've got mail and you'd get the desk, you'd always get

12:21

the desk and and that was it.

12:23

It was a, well, AOL was it. And it was back in the day when actually when America online had their all of

12:29

their content was created by people that were actually in the industry, right?

12:33

It wasn't this big time Warner.

12:36

Machine thing, but it was like, you know, sports writers were writing the

12:40

sports section and and entertainment writers were writing the entertainment

12:44

columns and things like that. And I had a column called the daily fix and it was very popular.

12:50

It was in the entertainment channel, like super popular.

12:53

And I wrote through a cartoon character. I did not write through Christine Blaisdell.

12:56

I wrote through a cartoon character called beatbox Betty and beatbox

13:00

Betty was like a head of hopper. She was drawn really kind of.

13:04

Very anatomically incorrect, you know, tiny waist, big hips.

13:09

She always had a martini in her hand. She had a big like beehive hairdo.

13:13

So like me so much like Mike.

13:16

So it looked exactly like me, no complete opposite, but I wrote through her and so

13:22

I could be really honest and funny and.

13:26

Young people would not get the humor that the adult humor, but adults would get it.

13:32

So it was great training ground for me to write for nine, age nine to 90.

13:38

Right. Cause that's what AOL says. They're like, you need to write for everybody.

13:42

And it's like, okay. But I did that for a little over a year, I think.

13:47

And it was great. I was going to premieres and, and Hollywood things to get

13:52

interviews and like, Oh, I was probably in the mid part of that.

13:58

When I was doing that, I was out to dinner with a friend and sitting at

14:01

a table very close to us was Lily Tomlin and her partner, Jane Wagner.

14:06

Now, Lily Tomlin to me is like royalty, right?

14:10

I mean, she is, and I know that Jane does a lot of the writing.

14:15

I mean, Jane is the brain of so much.

14:18

And so, but Lily is so talented.

14:20

And I just was like, Oh my gosh, Lily and Jane are right there.

14:24

Oh my gosh. And my friend's like, you got to go and say, hi, go introduce yourself.

14:27

I said, no, I'm not going to go over there.

14:31

I'm not going to be that person. Right.

14:34

They're eating dinner and I'm going to be that person who comes over, goes, hi,

14:37

you know, Hey, can you sign my autograph?

14:40

No. So I said I said no.

14:42

And she kept saying, go, go, go. So finally I said, okay, it was that poll, you know, that thing going, you got to go.

14:48

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I walked over very sheepishly and I, and I'm like, hi.

14:53

I go, hi Lily Jane. I just, I don't wanna interrupt you.

14:56

I just wanted to say, I just love your work. I think you're amazing.

14:59

And I had to come over and just say, you know, thank you

15:01

for everything that you do. I was like, bowing.

15:04

And they looked up at me and I think it was Jane who said

15:09

well, oh, thank you very much. And, and who are you?

15:14

I was like, I didn't know what to say because Christine, I don't know

15:19

why I just said, Oh, I'm Christine, but I'm also known as beatbox Betty.

15:24

And they both looked at each other and then looked at me and.

15:27

She goes your beatbox Betty and I thought I was being punked.

15:32

I was like, Oh, are they going to be mean to me?

15:35

Are they mean girls? What are they? And Lily said we read your column all the time and we think you're so funny.

15:46

I was like, what? And they said, yeah, we think you are so, so nice to meet you.

15:50

We think you're so funny. We read all the time on AOL and I was like, what?

15:56

So the moral of that long ass story is you never know.

16:01

You may never meet that. Person who is really digging your stuff, your podcast, your videos, your reels,

16:09

your TikToks, your, your blog, whatever.

16:12

You may never meet them, but it might be somebody that you actually

16:14

really admire and they admire you.

16:19

I would, well, I would love Lily Tomlin to be following me.

16:23

That would be awesome. Cause I've been a huge fan of her since she was I think it was in laughing.

16:30

What did she was on? It would, she would be in that rocking chair and she was like the little girl

16:35

I even did when I was in drama class.

16:37

I even did the, that skit. My mom made me the dress and I had the socks.

16:42

Yeah. Yes. That's who it was. Yes. Yes.

16:45

Well, she's so cool.

16:47

Yes. You know, well, my husband went to a doctor not too long ago.

16:51

I think it was like maybe a physical therapist or something like that.

16:54

And she's like, Oh, Zaytsev. I listened to a woman who has a podcast or her name, last name is Zaytsev.

17:01

And so I was like, okay, I don't know why this doctor is listening to my podcast,

17:04

but you know, you just never know. You never know.

17:09

You never, never know. And I'll say too, with, with Lily and Jane, and cause I've met them on

17:14

several occasions after that when I worked at a radio station and they

17:18

came, and they, they both are extremely.

17:22

They are as cool as you think they are progressive as hell.

17:25

Like, I mean, so with it and so generous and kind and you know, that's, that's

17:33

a rarity in Hollywood too, because you know what, a lot of them are not.

17:39

Hollywood is like a weird. Black mirror movie type thing.

17:43

Like, you know, it's, it's odd. It's odd because it's so much money and anyway, okay.

17:48

Okay. We're getting diverted now. So so tell, tell our audience a little bit about what you enjoy creating.

17:55

Maybe it'll spark some imagination in our audience as well.

17:58

But so your, your bread and butter are, is as an accountant doing taxes and

18:04

financial stuff, talk about the different Outlets that you use to connect with

18:10

your audience and to to help business owners, especially entrepreneurs.

18:16

Well, I am a creative spirit. So as a child, I was a clown duo with my mother.

18:22

We were hokey and pokey and you cannot take the clown out of me.

18:26

I've been doing it since I was two and a half.

18:29

I don't wear the white makeup in the red nose or anything like

18:32

that, but I'm still a clown. I love to infuse comedy as much as.

18:37

You know, I think I'm funny, but, you know, so I, I try

18:40

to infuse comedy into things. So I try to make things fun.

18:44

I, you can't see me unless you're watching the video, but like I wear,

18:48

like, like if I have my stuff, I've got a hat that says party on it.

18:52

Cause I like to bring the party to a business because,

18:55

you know, when we are working.

18:58

So hard on our business. We sometimes forget that we're doing this because we want to have a better life.

19:05

We want to have fun. If we wanted to just have a job, we'd go get a job, right?

19:09

So we've got to, we've got to have fun in our business.

19:12

So I tried to bring that fun. And if you see me on social media, you'll probably see that it's pretty,

19:19

you know, I like to bring out the fun. So I, I exude that.

19:23

So when I go to speak, I try to, I bring props.

19:27

I like, you know, like I talk about, I like the.

19:30

Here, I've got a, if you're not seeing the video, I've got

19:33

the count from Sesame Street. And like, so I talk about 1, 2, 3 counting your numbers, you

19:39

know, so those sorts of things. So when I first started my business, I kind of hid from all of that.

19:45

You know, I've tried to be the quintessential accountant, whatever,

19:50

you know, and my website was, you know, kind of plain and I didn't really

19:54

embrace all of the me in there until a client that was a marketer said

19:59

like, You go have something there.

20:01

You should really double down on who you are.

20:04

And so I started to let my freak flag fly.

20:08

And so, so I tried to bring it out everywhere.

20:11

So it's on my website, it's in my social media and.

20:15

As far as like me getting out there, I love to go go on other people's podcasts.

20:20

I have my own podcast. I have made speaking I, I create my own speaking events.

20:25

I've gone, gone on summits, that sort of thing. So I try to be out there as visible as possible so people can see who

20:32

I am because I'm not just like the, the regular bean counter, if

20:37

you want to call it like Right. Exactly.

20:39

Well, and you, and you're memorable.

20:42

You know, that's the thing you're memorable and you're, and you're as, as.

20:47

As one does, you know, scrolling through social media when you find somebody who's

20:52

original and who is unapologetically themselves, it is refreshing.

20:57

And it's like, wait a second, wait, who's this person?

21:00

That's why I was, I was like, stopped. I was like, What?

21:03

This is someone that I want to know.

21:07

I don't even care. I don't even know what she does. I was like, I don't care.

21:11

I don't even know what she does. I don't care. She does. I just want to know this person.

21:14

So well, and, you know, because I am me and like I look wacky and

21:20

all that stuff, and it is truly me like I used to be a punk.

21:23

I was a goth, you know, and like I said, I was a clown and all those

21:26

things, some all those things. And I am just being myself.

21:29

I'm not trying to like. create a character or whatever, although I love costumes, but

21:34

but it also helps my clients. I feel like they can be themselves, which is, you know, I work with a lot of

21:40

female entrepreneurs and, you know, as females, we're kind of like, you know,

21:44

we're expected to act a certain way and, you know, when especially like if you're

21:49

from like from some sort of culture or something that's like where women are

21:53

supposed to be more timid and all of that. And so I help.

21:57

I like to, you know, I've had clients tell me this, that.

22:00

I've inspired them to be themselves, be more bold, be out there and do

22:05

their thing because a lot, you know, we have to get out there on social media.

22:10

That's just part of marketing these days.

22:12

And a lot of people are afraid to get on video or do things on

22:16

camera, but I'm you know, just be yourself people are not good.

22:19

Yeah. And what I tell my clients, because especially the ones that are afraid

22:23

of being on video, I said one of the best things that you can do is be

22:28

on video because people can see and look into your eyes and they can see

22:32

your facial expressions and they can immediately get a feeling for you.

22:36

And I do love the, I love the art of, of audio.

22:39

I love, I've been, I was in radio for 20. Plus years.

22:43

And so for many years, I, I stayed, I shied away from video because I was so

22:49

used to hiding behind the microphone. So it was just, I mean, I could be in a studio in my pajamas, you know,

22:55

with baseball cap on and sunglasses.

22:58

And it was, you know, it was awesome because like it just be whatever.

23:05

And it was very intimate art form. Radio and podcasting because you're only listening to the voice and so you're

23:11

feeling and you're imagining what that person may look like or, you know,

23:15

you don't know what they look like. So the judgment aspect is, is, is less, right?

23:20

Because we're not saying, why does she wear those red glasses or how

23:23

come her hair is so short or what about those tattoos or whatever with

23:27

radio and podcasting, you don't. So with video, it's that thing of, Oh, I might be judged.

23:34

And what I tell my clients is that you don't, don't think about those people that

23:42

are going to judge you and don't judge yourself, which is mostly what we do.

23:46

We judge ourselves. My nose is too big. My, you know, don't judge yourself.

23:50

Think about the people that you serve.

23:53

So in other words, if you, if you're helping, you know, young

23:56

people with mental health. Think about that young person who needs you, who needs to see you, or

24:02

if you're, if you're a life coach and you help people, you know, get

24:06

through anxiety and stress or whatever, think about your client or potential

24:11

client who's there, who's waiting for you and you're not showing up.

24:17

Think about that as opposed to, Oh, you know, did I wear the right dress?

24:21

You know, come on. So it does help.

24:24

Yeah. It helps put your ego aside because really you're showing up for them.

24:28

It's not about you at all. And really in business, that's what it is, right?

24:31

It's really about our clients and us helping our clients and, whatever

24:36

pain point they might have, we're trying to solve that for them.

24:39

And it's not about us. It's about them. So it should always get on video, get over yourself, get over yourself,

24:49

get on video, start making those reels, start making those tech talks.

24:54

And and if you get the opportunity, if you, to podcast.

25:01

And, and, and get on YouTube and do the videos.

25:05

Hello, you're listening to someone that can help you get there.

25:08

So it's not a scary thing.

25:10

There's a little tiny, little bit of technical thing that you need to know.

25:14

But when you have someone who can guide you through it it makes it so much easier.

25:18

And I, my trademark, and I know this is with Heather is

25:21

that when I work with people. On creating a podcast or YouTube channel or whatever we're creating, I make

25:28

sure that it's simple, easy and fun.

25:32

If it's simple, easy and fun, you, you're learning capabilities are enhanced.

25:38

And so you, it absorbs you, you learn easier and it's fun.

25:42

So you have enjoyment with it. And then you can create and you create and you create and you create

25:47

more, better, bigger, whatever.

25:49

But if it's. Hard and technical and scary people don't want to do it.

25:54

Nobody wants to do that, right? So that's my teaching style a little bit.

25:58

What about you? What about you? Yeah. You know, a lot of it is breaking through our fears and sometimes

26:05

our fears are people have a huge fear about speaking in public.

26:10

Right. So, I mean, that's like a huge hurdle, like, Oh, okay.

26:13

Now being on video. So I, I like to think about like, okay, tackle your fears and, and baby

26:18

steps and, and then celebrate those.

26:21

So I, as much as I love to be a clown and be funny and all that.

26:26

I was not putting myself on video because there was just something about it.

26:30

Like it was always going to be up there, you know?

26:32

And so I gave myself a challenge of going live for, I think

26:39

it was like 41 days in a row. And by day three, I was like, Hey, you know, I didn't even

26:46

care about the camera anymore. So sometimes it's just taking these little leaps, you know, and, and just

26:51

trying things and we're never gonna.

26:54

Get to the next level if we don't step into our fear.

26:57

So yes, it can be scary, but have fun with it.

26:59

So make it fun. And if you have an accountability buddy or someone else that's maybe

27:05

doing something, so if you are doing a challenge and you feel like you can't do

27:09

it yourself, get somebody else, you have a coach like you or somebody where that

27:14

you can have, when you feel like if you.

27:18

Stumble, someone's got, got your back, you know, so, but

27:22

get out there and just try it. It's, it's, and the thing is, is that we all think that everyone

27:26

is looking at us, but they're not. There are so many other things going on that no, they're

27:32

going to forget, you know. Well, hopefully they won't forget you, hopefully they won't forget you too,

27:38

too quickly, but the thing is, too, is that, is that don't worry about being

27:42

perfect because number one, there's no such thing, but also you don't learn and

27:47

grow just by trying to be perfect all the time because you won't try things.

27:52

That's the thing. The first time I did a real or whatever.

27:55

Yeah, I think it was a real the first time I did it, I was like, Oh, that's crap.

28:01

That's, that's horrible. Well, I've, I felt uncomfortable and I didn't know how to edit it.

28:06

I didn't know anything, but I just kept at it.

28:08

I kept at it. And for me, like for me, it's just, it's a fun, it's sort of like a hobby, you know?

28:15

I don't use mine necessarily to, I don't, I'm not a, I'm not

28:18

pitching a business all the time. I use mine just because it's fun and I like to have fun.

28:24

So I do that. The, the idea is that if you don't try something and if it

28:29

feels uncomfortable, that's okay. Work through the uncomfortableness because your breakthrough is going

28:36

to be, you try, you fall, you try, you fall, you scrape your knee.

28:40

Okay. You get back up, you try again and you go, you know what?

28:43

This time I'm not going to do, you know, this X, Y, Z this

28:47

time I'm going to do this. That's how we grow.

28:51

That's how we learn, right? If the first time you fell off your bike, you just threw the bike in

28:56

the garage and said, screw that. You would never have traveled anywhere as a child.

29:02

Yeah. I mean, I, I was afraid of cats growing up.

29:07

And my husband, he really wanted to have a cat.

29:10

And I was like, no. And we got a cat and he brought it home.

29:14

And I was like, you're taking care of it. Well, then I started playing with the cat with the little toys and stuff.

29:19

Fell in love, became a crazy cat lady.

29:22

So you just never know. Tell us a little bit about cause I want people to check out your

29:29

podcast and all the good stuff. I'll make sure that I have links in the show notes to your website.

29:34

Your website is get rad biz.

29:37

com. I love it. I will put that in the show notes, but talk about your,

29:42

what's the name of your podcast? It's called Get Radical With Your Business.

29:46

There you go. There you go.

29:49

So I want people to get radical with their business.

29:51

And it used to be called Get the Balance Right.

29:53

I recently changed it. So people, I'm a Libra.

29:57

So, you know, and I'm an accountant. Balance made sense to me.

30:00

But some people thought it was a yoga program.

30:02

So I think radical is, is, is perfect.

30:08

Yeah. And I used to do radical cheerleading at at I would go to it was for animal rights.

30:14

So I would go to different events and we would had, we had pom

30:18

poms and we do cheers and stuff. And so we were the radical cheerleaders for animal rights.

30:22

So that was already a part of me.

30:24

So the radical business and plus I'm a.

30:26

I was born in the late sixties. So I grew up in the eighties where it was like radical.

30:31

So it all, it all makes sense to me. I gotcha.

30:34

I got you while we're on the, on the podcast conversation.

30:38

Do you have what I would like, because I can say it all day long to people about

30:44

the importance of using a podcast as a marketing tool to promote your business,

30:49

just like a bestselling, just like a book. Right.

30:52

If you've written a book or especially if it's a bestseller, it's a great

30:55

marketing tool, a business tool. But can you talk about that about with podcasting the importance of that?

31:01

Cause it sounds, if it comes from you, they'll listen. No, no, if you, if you can talk about that, cause I, I know

31:07

it's really important and it's. One of the best ways to spend a couple bucks, but can you talk about that?

31:13

Oh, of course, podcasting changed my life.

31:16

So I had a coach that was like, you should be on podcasts.

31:19

And I'm like, I don't know any podcasters.

31:21

So I was like, I guess I'll just start a podcast. And after starting a podcast, you start meeting more people and more people and.

31:29

You know, yes, you could say it's about downloads and all that kind of stuff.

31:33

But for me, it was a great networking tool.

31:36

And it brought people into my life.

31:38

I would have never met. It opens up doors.

31:42

It allows you to expand your network.

31:44

I mean, here you are in Australia and we're talking.

31:48

I mean, how cool is that? I mean, it's so cool.

31:51

I mean, if you are afraid of podcasting.

31:55

Don't be. I mean, it's such a great medium and the people in podcasting are so giving

32:04

and so nice and it's not non judgmental.

32:07

I mean, it's a great, I mean, I used to love Toastmasters and being a Toastmaster.

32:12

Podcasting, sorry, Toastmasters, way better.

32:15

It will really help you develop your skills, talking on the microphone,

32:20

chatting with people, asking questions.

32:22

It's great to get to know people that could possibly be your clients in the

32:27

future or your, your referral partners.

32:30

I mean, it will open up doors for where you're going to speak on

32:34

stages because speaking is like a great way to grow your business.

32:38

So, and podcasting can be part of that.

32:41

So it's. Tremendous. I mean, I can't say enough about podcasting and I love podcasting

32:45

and I love to go to podcasting conferences too, because they're like

32:48

the funnest people, the cool people. I know. I know.

32:52

And you know, another thing is just that people don't think about is that with a

32:56

podcast, you can utilize those episodes.

32:59

You can repurpose those episodes.

33:02

So yeah, there's that too. Yeah. You can repurpose your content.

33:05

And I. When I coach, I never just do the audio podcast.

33:08

I always do the video. We record in video and then we edit that.

33:13

And then you have an audio version of your podcast and the video version, because

33:17

hello video is king and queen, and you can put it up on YouTube and cut it up into

33:21

shorts and tick talks and all that stuff.

33:24

You repurpose those episodes. So.

33:27

You are building your empire, so to speak, by possibly having chapters in a book

33:33

that you don't have to write from scratch. You've got all this content that you can take and repurpose it into chapters

33:39

in a book or modules in a course.

33:42

If you want to create a course, right? I was, I have the micro podcast on podcasting and it's each

33:47

episode is five minutes or less. And so.

33:51

It's also not some big, huge thing that you have to undertake.

33:54

It can be small, bite sized, you know, motivational episodes or

34:00

inspirational episodes or steps or tips.

34:03

It does not have to be this overblown, hard thing in your life.

34:08

And it is such a great marketing tool, like you said.

34:10

And you get to meet cool people. I just, I got to meet...

34:13

Heather Zaitzwolf. Hello. How much cooler can you get?

34:17

It's also great. You can have people that are like authors come on your show.

34:22

You can, you can, you can talk to coaches that probably, you

34:26

know, charge like several thousand dollars an hour and you can have

34:30

a conversation with them for free.

34:33

You know, I mean, it's like, it's amazing.

34:35

I mean, it's just, I mean, it's such a cool platform and yeah,

34:39

the repurposing thing is great. It also makes it so that, you know, if you're somebody that

34:44

maybe procrastinates about doing things, it keeps you on a schedule.

34:48

It keeps you like, okay, I'm going to talk about this.

34:50

It gives you some topic that you can actually talk about, you know, to

34:55

promote yourself and then you could. Make a blog out of that and then social posts and, you know, so it

35:01

gives you, it gives you more content. I mean, and like you said, then you can repurpose it later on.

35:05

And it's, yeah, it's, it's probably like one of the best ways

35:10

and it doesn't cost that much. I mean, it doesn't, that's the thing is it's so ridiculous, you know, back in the

35:15

old days, when you had to do, we try to do advertising, putting out a full page ad in

35:19

a newspaper would cost you an arm and leg. If you wanted to do anything on radio or, or television, You couldn't do it.

35:27

You just couldn't do it. And now we are our own self publishing machines where we can, and it's the sky's

35:32

the limit, it's what you put into it. But once you set it up and once you have the baby going, there's

35:40

very little cost involved.

35:43

And you're reaching, you know, you're reaching out to the audience saying, this is who I am.

35:46

This is what I do. Just don't make it an infomercial.

35:49

Don't make it all about you because I'll turn you off so quickly.

35:56

Well, and also it gives you a platform to show your expertise as well.

36:01

So, you know, you're giving, you're giving value to the audience.

36:04

They're seeing like how you work. Maybe you have somebody on that.

36:07

Maybe you do a coaching session with them or it gives, I mean, there's

36:11

so many different varieties of ways that you can utilize a podcast.

36:14

With your audience and like I said, you can do little, little sound bites.

36:18

And I, I did one recently about using AI with your podcast.

36:23

And so I just contacted all these people I knew and they gave me a little

36:26

voice recordings and I put it all together and made a podcast out of it.

36:29

And it was great because then I got other people involved with it too.

36:32

And, and that always makes people feel, you know, happy to be

36:36

included in something like that. So, yeah, I love, love, love podcasting.

36:41

Well, podcasting loves you, Heather.

36:46

Oh my gosh, I could talk to you forever and ever, but we got to wrap up the show now.

36:49

And I don't know when I'll see you again.

36:51

Well, I feel like you're, you're like my soul sister.

36:55

So so definitely, you know what, Donna, you're welcome back anytime.
