Hello and welcome to the Oxventure D&D

0:02

podcast. It is a Dungeons &

0:04

Dragons podcast, or

0:07

a tabletop role-playing game podcast if you like,

0:09

where we listen to episodes of

0:11

Oxventure and talk about them. That

0:13

voice you can hear there, that's my co-host

0:16

Andy Freakin' Farrant.

0:17

Hey everyone, it's me Andy. It's a

0:19

D&D and then TTRPG

0:22

podcast. It's so simple, the

0:24

acronyms. Yeah, we're

0:26

mainly an acronym podcast. Yeah, and I'm

0:28

JD. You can call me JD. AJCF.

0:33

You're Andy AF. Yeah,

0:35

I'm Andy AF Farrant

0:38

because I'm always Andy AF. So

0:41

yeah, we're talking this week

0:44

about More Wonders Than

0:46

There Are in the Heavens, which is an Oxventure

0:48

Deadlands episode. Oh, it's part two. Part

0:51

two of that. Chapter, that

0:54

story, that chronicle. What do you call

0:56

it, Andy? Marshall Andy? Chapters. Chapter,

0:58

okay. I'm a very literary creator.

1:01

Okay, so it's part two of

1:04

the chapter known as More Wonders

1:06

Than There Are in the Heavens. Three, four. It

1:09

couldn't be simpler. It couldn't be simpler.

1:12

Listener. Why is everyone having a problem with this?

1:14

It's simple. It's M-W-T-T-A-I-T-H.

1:21

Part two. Yeah. Of OD,

1:24

which is Oxventure Deadlands. I'm trying to create

1:26

an atmosphere here with the titles, you

1:28

know. This is what you would see on an

1:30

old-timey flyer for the World's Fair. More Wonders

1:32

Than There Are in the Heavens. Come and see the

1:35

incredible World's Fair.

1:36

We've got it all. We've got a real igloo.

1:40

You can see a stuffed walrus. Come

1:43

and look at some electricity. This

1:45

guy's invented crackerjacks. You

1:48

know, it's everything. I get it. I get and

1:51

appreciate the reference.

1:54

First of all, though, Andy, how are you doing?

1:56

Yeah, pretty good. Pretty good. Off to New York Comic Con

1:58

next week. So trying to get my diet. in a row.

2:01

Get ready New York. That's

2:03

coming up. After

2:05

this podcast we're going to record some Resident Evil 4

2:09

Ada, what's the Ada DLC called? It's

2:11

called Separate Ways. Separate Ways.

2:13

That's it. We're going to play some of that. And

2:16

you can watch that at some point outside

2:19

Xbox if you're into video games. If you're into the other

2:21

kind of games, the one that goes on the TV

2:23

or the computer. The TV games that

2:26

they have nowadays. Okay.

2:29

Yeah. Hello Stream is coming up. So getting

2:31

ready for that. I'm still writing my horror

2:33

stories on Substack. So

2:36

you go to uhoh.substack.com.

2:39

You can check out some of my short horror

2:41

stories this Halloween season. So yeah,

2:43

lots going on at the moment. If

2:45

you like horror but you're short on time,

2:47

come in and get scared in less than five

2:50

minutes.

2:50

Yeah. Well, like a 10 minute read most

2:52

of them. Well, I read very fast. Well,

2:55

you're gifted. You got to move the

2:57

head in horror class. Yeah.

3:02

Jane, how are you doing? What are you

3:03

doing? I'm okay. I

3:05

have been playing more Baldur's Gate,

3:08

which I will never ever

3:10

finish. I assume.

3:11

Oh God, it's enormous.

3:13

We've talked about this before. The reason it

3:15

takes so long to play Baldur's Gate is every combat

3:17

encounter takes about 45 minutes and then

3:20

you can fail them and have to do it all

3:23

over again. So yeah, it does take a long time to get

3:25

through.

3:25

I spent like an hour in a spider cave. I'm

3:27

like, if this had been an action game, I would have walked

3:29

in, walked out, dusting my hands off. Yeah.

3:32

Covering spider legs. Exactly.

3:35

But I was in a spider cave.

3:37

Crafted a cloak of spider webs. Become

3:40

the king of the spiders. I was in a spider

3:42

cave and a Starian's like, well, better not

3:44

step on those spider webs. The

3:46

bridges made of spider webs in this cave.

3:49

And I was like, well, I'd love not to a Starian,

3:51

but I can't see any other way around this. I

3:53

just fully marched onto a spider's web

3:56

bridge and guess what?

3:57

Spiders.

3:58

Could you not jump?

3:59

I don't think I could jump far

4:02

enough. Yeah, that makes sense. That might

4:04

be it.

4:04

Oh, Misty Step, that's pretty good. I've not

4:06

made of Misty Step. Gail's

4:09

got Misty Step. Misty's got Gail hanging on. Yeah, I should

4:11

have just said Gail in there, shouldn't I?

4:13

Yeah. Yeah. My

4:16

entire party is such dumbasses. I've put

4:18

a clip in a video I uploaded recently

4:20

about weird side quests in Baldur's Gate.

4:23

There's a bit where we go down into a basement

4:25

that's full of traps. And the

4:27

sheer number of failed perception checks is like,

4:32

going off the top of the screen, like Matrix,

4:35

computer, printouts. And

4:37

in any other video game, it would simply

4:40

say nothing.

4:40

But

4:42

in this, it's like, hey, you just failed 86 separate perception

4:44

checks. Nice

4:47

job. Do you think there's something down here that

4:49

you should be perceiving? Yeah, there's probably something down here. Yeah. And

4:52

then it just sort of takes the Kermit the Frog keys in. It's

4:55

fun, though. Oh,

4:58

I'm also playing Animal Crossing again. That's right.

5:00

I'm the one person still playing Animal Crossing.

5:03

It's just me. Why? Because

5:05

it's Halloween, Andy. I've got it. What

5:07

will my animal villagers think if I don't

5:09

go in there and put out the pumpkins? Okay,

5:11

answer me this. Create some Halloween decorations.

5:13

Yeah. Is anything different this Halloween

5:15

than previous Halloween? No. So what's

5:17

the point? I did it one

5:19

year. That's the beauty of it, Andy. It's always

5:21

the same. I go back to my

5:23

island. There's been no... The

5:26

sea levels aren't rising. There's

5:29

no political unrest. It's just nice.

5:32

And they can still make jack-o'-lanterns out of pumpkins.

5:35

And my animals are all super

5:37

grateful.

5:37

Okay, let's list the second thing.

5:40

Oh, I tell you what I did.

5:42

Go back and visit. You remember the

5:45

DLC that came out for Animal Crossing probably like

5:47

two or three years ago now? And

5:49

it was like, oh, gosh, what was it even called?

5:53

It was the one where you could go to an island and then become

5:55

a sort of designer.

5:55

An interior

5:57

designer for Animal's Holiday.

5:59

of my island off to property developers by that point.

6:02

Well, I went in and I was like, Oh

6:04

gosh, I do remember spending a lot of time doing this during

6:07

the kind of the headiest days

6:09

of the lockdown pandemic stuff.

6:12

And I was like, Gosh, I spent a lot of time in this didn't

6:15

I? I guess, let me see what I did.

6:17

And it was like, opening,

6:20

opening a treasure chest,

6:23

because I have made a terrifying

6:26

number of holiday homes in Animal Crossing.

6:29

And I was like, I do not remember

6:31

I must have entered some sort of fugue state, and

6:33

just designed holiday homes for

6:36

anthropomorphic animals for several

6:38

months, because the level of attention

6:40

to detail, and the quantity

6:43

of holiday homes. And I'm going, God,

6:45

I don't remember making this many or

6:47

being as into it as I clearly

6:50

was. So I want to say thank

6:51

you, Animal Crossing, you got me through a lot. Yeah, Jane,

6:54

is there a risk that this is your life's work?

6:58

I would say it's a certainty that

7:00

this is my life's work. And I've

7:02

already peaked. And yeah, yeah,

7:06

okay, no regrets. Zero regrets. Right.

7:09

In the mobile Animal Crossing game at Halloween, you can get

7:11

things like a haunted bus

7:13

with eyes follow you around the room. You can

7:15

get a spooky mirror that stuff you can see

7:18

things appear in them. Yeah, you're right. I should

7:20

get I should get deeply, deeply into Animal

7:22

Crossing pocket camp. All right. That's

7:25

what you're taking from that. That will be my next life's work.

7:27

I mean, same life, but my next

7:30

big

7:30

project will be there.

7:33

I could learn piano, or I could,

7:35

you know, play Animal Crossing pocket, Animal Crossing

7:37

pocket camp.

7:38

Yeah, well, yeah, one of them you can be immediately good

7:40

at. Yeah, but Animal

7:42

Crossing is so much more rewarding. Anywho,

7:47

I've been,

7:50

I'm contemplating making my my

7:53

annual single pumpkin pie. So yeah,

7:56

that I do that I do do. And it's

7:58

as always, it's much harder to get the ingredients

8:00

than you would expect. So that's

8:02

my quest. You

8:05

just need to go to a fancy grocery

8:07

store. I bet the food hall at somewhere like Selfridges

8:10

would have everything you need.

8:11

Yeah, that's true. Yeah,

8:14

I could do that. Readers, I

8:16

mean listeners, you can't simply go to a

8:19

regular grocery store here in the

8:21

UK and expect to buy pumpkins

8:23

that are edible. Because

8:26

nearly all of UK... Oh, you want to make it from an actual... You want to make it from

8:28

a pumpkin. Well, even, I mean, my local

8:30

grocery store doesn't stock pumpkin puree either.

8:33

But I would...

8:34

You want to bring some stuff back from New

8:36

York?

8:37

Yeah, because you could stuff your suitcase with pumpkin

8:39

puree or just pumpkin pies. That

8:41

would be a thing. Oh, New York's gonna be really cool.

8:44

I've never been in New York around... In the

8:46

fall. Halloween. Well, not around Halloween.

8:48

I've been there in winter. So is the

8:51

city itself particularly? Does it go all in

8:53

on Halloween?

8:53

I've not been there

8:55

either. There's a bar themed

8:58

around Beetlejuice. Okay.

9:00

I think it's called the Beetle Bar or something like that. Okay, that

9:03

sounds fun. So, you know, check

9:04

that out. Do they put like a costume on the Statue of Liberty

9:06

or

9:07

anything? I assume so. I mean,

9:09

why would you not? Why would you not? If you have the opportunity.

9:11

Yeah, make her into a big witch for all of us.

9:15

Yeah, and then you put like a big paper

9:18

mache pumpkin over the, you know, the

9:20

Torch of

9:20

Liberty or whatever it's called. And then all the other

9:23

states come and put candy in it.

9:25

Oh, yeah. Come on now. Yeah.

9:28

New York is trick or treating.

9:30

You can answer the call. They take like,

9:33

you know, those helicopters that fight forest fires.

9:36

Oh, yeah. And then they air drop. West Virginia

9:38

sends over a helicopter full of candy

9:40

that just drops in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then at the end,

9:43

they can sort of distribute that amongst the

9:45

candy poor. People of New York. Yeah.

9:47

People who need candy. OK,

9:48

yeah, just three or four metric tons of candy corn.

9:51

Yeah, just drop it on Central Park. Devastatingly

9:54

the

9:55

ecosystem. Oh, one

9:57

of the many things I.

9:58

love about Mike is how

10:01

much he likes candy corn in an improbable

10:03

way that is very bad. I don't

10:05

think it's meant for human consumption. It's just a sort

10:07

of joke. Isn't it an industrial

10:09

byproduct? It just happens to look that

10:12

way. Yeah I mean

10:14

it puts me in mind of nothing more than

10:17

those foam earplugs you get on

10:19

airplanes.

10:20

Oh yeah yeah. Roll

10:23

them like with your fingers so they scoop

10:26

into your ear can I grab them into your pockets.

10:29

Yeah pockets yeah yeah and they're

10:31

like here you go here's a bag of that eat it.

10:34

Yum

10:35

yeah.

10:35

I'm good actually. I'm good though. Cool.

10:38

Right well that is the mandatory

10:41

minimum of Halloween chats

10:43

prior to listening to this episode

10:45

of Oxford Venture. Shall we listen to this episode

10:48

of Oxford Venture and then talk

10:48

about it on the other side. Yes.

10:53

Deadlands takes place in the weird west

10:55

a treacherous frontier where legends

10:58

are born and nightmares of fear.

11:00

Here five wild cards come together

11:02

to seek fortune justice and revenge

11:05

and a way to uncover the mysteries

11:07

of the World's Fair.

11:18

Welcome back to Oxford Presents Deadlands. I'm

11:21

Andy and I will be your marshal today and joining me are

11:23

our players starting with you sir. Hey

11:25

I'm Jasper William Cartwright and I'm playing Billy

11:27

Joe thick

11:28

and bash Billy Joe.

11:30

I'm Ellen Rhodes and I'm playing Edith

11:32

Allentown. I'm Luke Westway

11:34

and I'm playing Delacy. Hmm this

11:37

episode of Oxford Venture presents Deadlands is brought

11:39

to you by Misty Mountain Gaming. Go to mistymountaingaming.com

11:42

to check out the cool dice and tabletop gaming

11:44

11:47

11:49

dice by going to the link in the description

11:51

of this video. Thank you so much to Misty Mountain

11:53

Gaming for their support. So as you'll

11:55

remember last time Edie and

11:58

Delacy traveled to the World's Fair

12:00

in New Guest Symphony to seek out

12:03

Billy Joe Thicket to help them eliminate

12:05

Aunt Hildy, the fourth name on their

12:07

list. After performing extremely

12:09

well in Bison Billy's Wild West

12:12

show, three have now teamed up and

12:14

have entered the World's Fair after

12:16

dark after it's been locked up to try

12:18

and catch Aunt Hildy unawares at

12:20

the technical rehearsal for her big speech tomorrow

12:23

but they were interrupted by

12:26

what sounded like a guard. Okay

12:28

so you are still inside the Hall of Otter Tees,

12:30

you heard

12:31

what sounded like a guard hollering you from out

12:34

on the midway. That's the situation

12:36

you find yourself in.

12:37

Okay, we've got two options.

12:40

You can either say that you was in here

12:42

and you got yourself all lost and didn't realise

12:44

that it closed and got spooked and you let off your

12:47

gun. Or you guys stay quiet and

12:49

I'll say that I was in here and I was dumped as no

12:51

good and I can just make a run for it or something. We

12:53

can reconvene later.

12:55

Probably should

12:56

make it so that at least not all three of us get caught

12:58

in the same time.

12:59

Miss Edie, you're pretty good at making

13:02

problems go away. I mean

13:05

you can probably stop at the first two words

13:07

as well but yeah,

13:11

I'll try my best. You

13:13

just send all the words and make

13:15

them stop. Not saving them in wiles.

13:18

Them too.

13:19

Do you know what that is? It

13:22

was a $210 worth. Is there anything to do with

13:24

that

13:25

boy from Nantucket that Miss Edie

13:27

was singing about earlier?

13:31

Let's go talk about the boy from Nantucket and I'll

13:33

take him away and just hide in a dark

13:35

corner of the... Also,

13:39

if we can sort of position ourselves so that I can

13:41

see the entranceway of the House of

13:43

Otter Tees just in case Edie gets into any trouble

13:46

we can be aware of him. We

13:48

can be in a sort of like... You

13:50

know, a Yeah, around the side.

13:54

Just in case it's a bit hairy. Okay,

13:56

you hear another... Who's in there?

13:58

What's going on? Oh,

14:01

help mister, help me! Oh

14:03

my goodness. I'm so lost, what

14:05

happened? Everything was so dark in

14:07

that thing. What a thing. I just jumped

14:09

out the tank. Oh my goodness. The

14:12

exhibit's coming alive again. Was

14:14

it insect led? No. It

14:17

was. Oh, he had such trouble with insect led. Careful

14:20

hands. I don't know why they keep him.

14:21

It's like Aidy's just like... Oh!

14:25

Aye! Was it

14:27

Billy and Delacey look up and they backed up

14:29

onto insect led? No. insect

14:31

led. I'm a chiss man. Look downy.

14:35

This hand, it grabbed

14:38

me. I had to shoot it

14:40

with my tiny pistol. Oh,

14:43

that was the sound of that. This

14:45

was the gunshot.

14:46

I'm so sorry. I had to stomp

14:49

in. It just jumped

14:51

out the tank. The guy you're talking to is

14:53

wearing a sort of...

14:54

Like a cap and he's got a scarf and a sort of overcoat

14:57

and he's holding a lantern. Oh,

15:00

you stomped on the hand? Oh,

15:03

God. Look at all

15:05

this mess. Oh,

15:07

no. Aye, and Hildy's going

15:09

to be mad at me for all this. Oh,

15:13

gee. He sort of bends down and starts

15:15

scooping the

15:16

hand up. He's going to try and put it back into

15:18

the water. Yeah,

15:21

he drops it into the water and bits of it are sort of floating

15:23

on the surface. Other bits are sort of bobbing around. Oh,

15:26

you think anyone's going to notice? I

15:29

think it's fun. Yeah. He

15:32

sort of drops the playing card in as well and they float on

15:34

the top. Yeah, I guess. I

15:38

mean... I shoot you, look,

15:41

by some Billy that

15:43

communicates. Should

15:45

we attack this guy? I

15:48

don't think, you know.

15:52

Remember what I said earlier about not following your heart?

15:57

It's one of those times. Don't listen to it.

15:59

I'm feeling so much

16:02

right now. She's got this So

16:08

what what are you doing in here miss you work for the

16:10

whole

16:11

oddities So I hadn't seen you around

16:13

before you

16:14

you're a patron. We're closed

16:16

Yeah, I'm afraid I got

16:18

lost looking. Oh for

16:20

the bathroom And

16:23

I got all turned around and and

16:25

then I'm I have to escort

16:27

you out of the fair, man

16:28

Okay, okay, if you could show

16:30

me the way that

16:31

would be great I

16:46

think people are gonna notice as he's looking

16:48

at the tank. I would like to

16:50

Call

16:52

to me a Fighting

16:55

role. Yeah. Yeah, just choke

16:57

out look Yeah, that's a

16:59

five

17:01

Okay, successful fighting. Yeah.

17:03

All right, that's I mean this guy isn't expecting

17:05

it and he's not particularly Fighting

17:08

guy. So yeah. All right, you choked this guy unconscious

17:12

See I told you

17:17

All

17:19

right, so he's he's now unconscious Now

17:21

we'll go over to him and just put him down any

17:23

weapons. He's got a billy

17:26

club

17:27

Club

17:39

What's he wearing you were wearing any kind of

17:42

Uniform or he looks like a night watch me. He's

17:44

gonna overcoat a scarf a flat cap in

17:46

Atlanta.

17:47

There is no way that's gonna fit me Not

17:50

gonna fit me

18:00

The CD, it might... is it

18:02

you? It might discard my

18:05

silhouette. I do stand out somewhat

18:07

in my show dress. So, yeah,

18:09

I kind of take the coat and shove

18:11

the flat cap so I put the fat

18:14

in. Yeah, sensible. Are you gonna leave

18:16

the guy here on the floor or...? Time up, gag

18:18

him. Mm-hmm. Cool.

18:20

Putting him in the inset lab. Yeah,

18:22

put him next to the inset lab. Okay,

18:24

you do that as you sort of make your way to

18:27

the exit of the tent. You

18:29

hear a sort of rustling and in-shape lads,

18:32

starts to step down from his pedestal. Everybody,

18:34

he looks at you both and he goes...

18:39

Then

18:41

there's just a wet crunch. The

18:45

music still goes... He

18:49

was just playing with the camera. By

18:52

the way, I need to move my tent. LAUGHTER

18:58

Don't share a hole with inset lads. So,

19:00

yeah, inset lad is going about his grim work. You

19:03

are now... You now stood out on

19:06

the midway of the

19:08

World's Fair. It's a

19:09

different atmosphere in here at night. Obviously,

19:11

you've been here during the day, the bustle of the

19:13

crowds, the sounds of the

19:15

fairground music and the ferris wheel and the people talking

19:18

and enjoying themselves. Now it's kind of eerily

19:20

quiet. But also any hope

19:22

that you had of it being sort of dark and

19:25

easy to sneak around in is banished,

19:27

as you see that along the midway

19:30

it's lit by

19:31

incandescent electric light bulbs. Have

19:35

any of you seen an actual light bulb before?

19:37

They're quite a new invention and it's unheard

19:39

of to see so many of them in one place.

19:42

I'm saving up to get one for the show. LAUGHTER

19:46

I can't see if I can steer me one of these. Yeah,

19:49

well, you're welcome to. This is an

19:51

example. No, I've got in them. I reach

19:53

out for a light bulb.

19:54

Oh! All right.

19:57

And the thing is, there's no way that I'd know this was a

19:59

bad thing.

19:59

So, there's no way I'd know that

20:02

this could be hot. Or

20:06

contain any... ouchie. Yeah.

20:09

Okay, yeah, do me a vigor

20:11

check, please. That's exciting to not

20:13

know about electricity. Hm. Okay.

20:17

Or... One success. Okay. Yeah,

20:19

you notice the light bulb is hot to the touch and

20:21

you pull your fingers away before it can burn you.

20:24

Ah! Is it like fire? It's hot!

20:26

There's no fires in there. I thought it was something fancy. It's

20:30

a sort of a sign of the

20:33

technological showcase that this world's fair is

20:35

supposed to be that there are so many of these light bulbs

20:37

and this will be the first time a lot of people are ever seeing one,

20:40

let alone hundreds,

20:41

strung along the midway. And they're

20:43

very valuable.

20:44

Presumably,

20:46

yeah.

20:47

Yeah, this is just a fancy note. I

20:49

mean, nothing. Where is the

20:52

area that she's likely to be rehearsing in? I'm

20:54

just sort of... I'm trying to... So,

20:57

as you've focused earlier, you

20:59

saw from the Ferris wheel, the layout

21:02

of the fair is you have

21:04

this long straight midway leading from the ticket

21:06

booths and then it goes into... It

21:08

sort of splits off into two different

21:11

paths which go around a large sort of central

21:13

lake area and there are different pavilions

21:16

all the way around the lakes and

21:19

you couldn't tell from what you could see

21:21

from above but there were a lot of

21:23

like neo-classical buildings on the far

21:26

shore of the lake and

21:28

there are different pavilions along the way. There

21:30

are sort of like the different national

21:33

pavilions along the left-hand side. You could see like

21:36

flags of the world along that side and then the

21:38

other side was the sort of technological ones and then there

21:40

was a large sort of another group of

21:42

neo-classical buildings on the other side. At

21:44

the bottom of the midway is the Ferris wheel that

21:47

you saw earlier and then next to that there is a sort

21:49

of large wooden

21:52

building that says boa house on it. Do

21:54

I know like is there like the main stage?

21:57

Is that like boa house or is that like... Do

21:59

me a notice roll.

21:59

Okay, notice

22:02

is a...

22:06

Not six, as a... Great.

22:09

Again. Uh, so eight. Okay,

22:11

yeah, so you, um, you've

22:14

obviously you've been to the fair before. You've sort of toured

22:16

the fairgrounds angrily complaining

22:18

the whole time about how they should have a wild rest show in here.

22:20

Absolutely. And yeah, now that

22:23

you think about it, you remember that the, um,

22:25

the Fulcrum Corporation, which is the company

22:27

that she runs, their pavilion is the one

22:29

directly on the other side of the lake. And if

22:32

you had to guess where she would be doing her big

22:34

presentation, it would be there in that pavilion. Mm-hmm.

22:37

Okay, well, I reckon if we can sneak our

22:39

way down to the shoreline there,

22:42

and we could maybe commandeer ourselves

22:44

a little boat, mmm, we could go in

22:46

that way. We might get, uh, and

22:48

lay low in the, in that boat perhaps,

22:51

or have some guys or reason to be crossing,

22:53

but that'd be the quickest way

22:55

and, uh, the most efficient way of catching

22:58

her on the wave. Mm. The

23:00

lights, um, do extend around, so the side

23:03

of the, the lake area isn't lit. It's

23:05

very dark in the middle of the, the

23:07

only place where we're not gonna get spotted. Yeah. Okay.

23:10

How do we fancy going for a little, uh, either you made

23:13

a boat before?

23:14

Uh, no, not, well, I,

23:16

I, in my time, uh, I've

23:19

traveled to the lagoons, but, uh, it's

23:21

been a while. Okay, you can steal the boat, awesome.

23:24

Okay. Okay. Let's get the boat. I rode a boat once.

23:28

Okay. It was very hard. Okay,

23:30

great. Edie's gonna steal the boat. Okay, awesome. Get away.

23:33

Okay. Let's get the boat. Uh, okay,

23:35

so you're heading to the boat house. Mm-hmm. I

23:38

think, uh, yeah, just like, whilst we're on the way

23:40

out, I'm just gonna be like, I, um, look,

23:43

I should warn you, me and, me and Art here do

23:45

have surprise. And if I get too ahead of myself,

23:47

you know, feel free to just let

23:50

me know, you know, if I get a little, try

23:52

to jump the gun as it were, be a little brash.

23:55

I feel a little tense and

23:57

angry right now. Does he think about it? I just wanna

23:59

whirl. That's fine. That's fine. That's

24:02

absolutely. You don't worry. Okay, good. What'd

24:05

she do? Um. It doesn't

24:07

matter.

24:08

It's

24:10

a long boring story and we have a long...

24:14

Long boring pull across a lake? Yeah,

24:16

we do. Okay. Well, we

24:18

should probably get there first, right? Get past

24:20

all these lights and stuff. Shouldn't just stand here

24:23

in the brightness.

24:24

Getting spotted. I'll tell you on the

24:26

boat. I'll tell you on the boat. You're walking up

24:28

to the boat house. Yeah,

24:31

it's a sort of low wooden building. Doesn't

24:34

have any windows and there is a door. Is

24:37

there a keyhole in the door? There is a keyhole in the door. And

24:39

have that little snoop through the keyhole?

24:42

Yeah, you can... It's dark

24:44

inside, the lights aren't on. It's dark outside

24:46

as well, but it's too dark inside. Too

24:49

dark. Yeah, I've not quite adjusted my eyesight

24:51

at all. Right. I'm

24:54

going to...

24:56

Try the door.

24:58

Yeah. Just turn the handle carefully,

25:01

carefully push. It's locked. It's

25:03

locked.

25:05

Um...

25:07

Do you actually have a lock pick?

25:09

Okay. If I'm going to do... All right, give

25:11

me a thievery roll then. I do not

25:13

have thievery. I'll just be on the... I'm just handing a

25:16

sort of lock, giving a lock out. Is that

25:18

like... In fact, from where you're standing,

25:20

you can see sort of... Like, lanterns as they

25:22

move, so that's sort of giving you a... A good idea.

25:25

A good idea, occasionally, where the guards are. No.

25:28

I did not succeed on that. Okay.

25:31

I'm going to pay for Benny's for a fight. Yeah,

25:33

so Edie sort of like tinkers with the

25:35

lock picker. No avail. No. I'll

25:38

sort of look around, there's no one particularly close.

25:41

Just sort of turn around and give it

25:43

a swift kick. Nice,

25:45

that's right. Yes, strength strike please.

25:49

That's a six on the ten.

25:52

Nice, yeah, success. Yeah, you give it a kick,

25:54

it splinters away from the sort of... The

25:57

hinge and the door swings inwards.

26:01

I think that's a much faster way, I

26:03

quite like

26:04

that, that's good. I've

26:06

made a business out of being the fastest

26:08

into a place in the first day out of it, so let's

26:12

get ourselves a boat. So yeah,

26:14

this

26:15

is a boat house, it opens out onto the

26:17

lakes where the front of it is open. There's

26:21

a selection of boats there, they don't have oars

26:24

arranged against the wall, there are a series

26:26

of poles, these appear to be sort of gondola style.

26:29

Oh I see,

26:30

alright. Okay

26:32

now this is slightly different to what

26:34

I'm used to. What kind of a war is this? This isn't

26:36

going to work, it's supposed to have a flat bit on the end.

26:38

I think you push it against the bottom. Of

26:42

the...

26:42

Of the lake, not the boat. I

26:45

love the lazy

26:47

zoom.

26:53

Alright, I think we should get to your

26:55

bottom. I can

26:58

feel like I've

27:01

leaned over it.

27:04

I

27:05

just feel like

27:07

I'm in here. Okay

27:10

let's get the boat nice and quick, someone might have heard

27:12

that there kicking so hard. Alright

27:14

let's crouch, let's stay low though right?

27:17

Let's darken them as a lake but we're in a nice sense of

27:19

taking any chances. Is there any like

27:22

a tarp or canvas or something in the

27:24

boat house? Do me a notice

27:26

roll.

27:27

Six,

27:29

one, seven.

27:30

Okay, you can see there are sort

27:32

of what look like tarp all in

27:34

rain coverings for the boat

27:36

stacked up in one corner.

27:38

Alright, well whoever's

27:40

going to be doing the blub blub blub, let's

27:42

have the other two under a tarp maybe.

27:46

I'd like to go under the tarp. Makes

27:49

sense if I go under because I think

27:52

of the three of us, if someone was to burst out of

27:54

the tarp and need to kill something,

27:56

feel like I could

27:59

do that.

27:59

That's a good idea, yes. Yeah.

28:02

Oh, get

28:03

under the top. Look

28:06

at Edie like, so, who

28:09

else is going in there? Um,

28:10

I do not mind.

28:12

He's throwing up a lot of candy floss already

28:14

today. I don't want to be stuck under there if he

28:16

does it again. Oh yeah. It smells real

28:18

bad. It smells so sweet

28:20

going in. And it comes out, it smells

28:22

so bad, so putrid. Can Delaney

28:25

be in the liquid, sort of start to seep out from underneath

28:27

the top? Because Delaney

28:29

here is a hero talking about how bad he smells.

28:33

It's quite quiet under the tarpaulin, so

28:35

if you would like to listen out, do me a notice roll.

28:38

I'd like, well, not like to listen out. Well,

28:41

fail the notice roll then. Yeah.

28:46

Nice.

28:50

You sort of hear, you hear the words, cotton

28:53

candy,

28:54

kind of coming in, but that's all you hear. Nice.

28:56

They're probably talking about how much cotton candy

28:59

you ate and how good it was. Billy Bison likes

29:01

cotton candy too. I knew he

29:03

was alright. I was asking the one if you

29:05

would prefer to push the ball. Well,

29:08

you're the best at talking your way out of a situation. I'm not

29:10

very, uh, diplomatic, but, um,

29:13

okay. Quick question actually. My,

29:16

uh, the Billy Bison's Wild West show, uh, is,

29:18

does that back onto the lake at all? Uh,

29:21

no, so they, the midway goes

29:23

all the way down to the lake. Um, the Hall

29:26

of Odyssey's is about halfway down the midway and Billy

29:28

Bison's head is like up that back. Yeah, okay.

29:31

I think there's any reason that he'd be

29:33

on the lake in case of one.

29:34

I have to, well, I'm happy

29:36

to talk my way out and pretend I

29:38

got lost in the lake before closing

29:40

again. I'm happy to do that.

29:43

I also think it's a bit of a bathroom. It's also

29:45

quite likely. It's

29:47

not the bathroom. It's also-

29:50

It's nature's bathroom. We'll,

29:53

uh, probably, uh, be- see

29:56

anyone coming anyway and, uh, it probably

29:58

helps to have two unnoticed faces. I think

30:00

you're right. Hidden

30:03

to the world or something.

30:04

Okay, if you get on with it, he's the

30:07

easiest boy. Oh,

30:09

what? I'll go, I'll go, Jen. I'll

30:12

straighten him out once he starts working for me too.

30:17

Hey kids, let me tell

30:19

you about putting together a show. I'm

30:22

listening. Okay,

30:24

so boating is actually a specific skill

30:27

in this.

30:28

So Edie, if

30:31

you could make me a boating roll.

30:32

Great.

30:36

Oh look, a D12 at the boater house. That's

30:38

alright, I'm lifting.

30:41

You want to spend, Benny?

30:44

Four and

30:45

a five. But you're untrained

30:47

in boating. So, did you get a four

30:49

on the four? I got a four on the four. So

30:53

re-roll that. No! We

30:56

didn't think so at the loss of all hands. We

30:58

just scared the fuck off. We're

31:00

just under there as well, we can't see what's

31:02

happening. So we're just like, whale. You

31:06

push away from the dock with the pole. Yeah.

31:10

And you're sort of aiming to go directly across the lake.

31:12

But you sort of push

31:14

and it starts to tilt

31:15

off towards the left. And something

31:17

you hadn't noticed previously in the lake, there is

31:19

a large

31:20

ornamental fountain. And

31:22

high pressure water wrapped into the air. And you are now sort

31:25

of barrelling straight towards

31:27

the high pressure fountain. Do

31:30

me another boating roll. Because

31:32

it's all about the balance of the X. Let's

31:34

see. Okay, cool. Making

31:38

a balance of two. Yes!

31:40

Alright, noticing

31:42

that you're coming very perilously close to this

31:44

fountain, you manage to turn the boat

31:47

just, you just skim it underneath

31:50

the tuffel. And you feel a little rise on one side of the

31:52

boat as you sort of skim the edge of the water. But

31:56

yeah, you start, you

31:57

manage to correct the course. And

31:59

you are now heading.

32:00

across the lake. Hey Edie, everything alright?

32:03

Everything's fine! You're doing a great job!

32:07

Back up a bit. Okay,

32:10

so you're carrying across

32:13

the lake, making some good progress.

32:15

I'm going to just keep out from under

32:17

the top at the prowl. And

32:20

just sort of like, what can I see where we're

32:22

headed? So yeah, you see the shore

32:24

on the other side, there's like a dock for

32:27

boats, and beyond that is

32:29

a sort of a collection of large

32:31

buildings. There are concession sands and things

32:33

around, but they've all been sort of shutting up for the evening.

32:36

You see more of these electric lights. You can see not loads,

32:39

but a couple of the sort of lantern lights moving around.

32:42

Seems like there's some sort of guard patrols going on. And

32:44

also, from that side of the

32:46

shore,

32:47

you can see one of the lantern lights move

32:50

into a sort of a taller building and disappear.

32:54

Sort of gesture with

32:56

my pistol.

32:58

I reckon that's where everyone's headed.

33:00

Alright.

33:01

Which way do you reckon is the best to go in?

33:04

Do we follow that way or do we try and sneak

33:07

in? Is there like a window or? It's

33:10

hard to tell at this distance. You feel

33:12

only about halfway across the lake. Sure. The Mercedes

33:15

dressed as one of them patrols, folks.

33:18

That's true. I'm just wearing a hat and a

33:20

coat. I'm still fully dressed as

33:22

Edie.

33:23

Valentine underneath. I'm still myself.

33:25

So we did have this one

33:27

shot, right? It was right

33:29

doozy of a show where we had a guy

33:31

and he was pretending to be another guy. And

33:34

he would get a kid and be like, I caught this kid.

33:36

And he would use that as like a guise

33:38

to get in. Wondering whether

33:40

maybe we could do a little student's double act

33:42

here with the two of you. You know, you pretend

33:45

like you were just an older kid getting in, trying

33:47

to steal some of those light bulbs or something. And

33:50

then you go up and say, hey, I'm going to take him

33:52

to Aunt Helty. And

33:54

then you get there and bam bam! Shoot

33:57

her in the face. I like

33:59

that.

33:59

And again, we never

34:02

heard why you and Aunt Hildy,

34:05

you said you were going to tell us on the boat?

34:07

I did say I was going to tell you on the boat. Then I got sidetracked

34:09

telling a little boy here about putting on a good show.

34:14

So it was

34:17

the only time I had failed to wrestle a bison.

34:21

It was not too long ago I was

34:23

putting on a new show for, well,

34:27

Hildy and some of the folks here at the

34:29

World Trade's Fair because I

34:31

wanted to be here. I

34:34

wanted to be the premier Wild West

34:36

show. And we put

34:38

on a hell of a show. I called in all

34:40

the favors that I could. I mean, I really got

34:43

the top draw folks in.

34:45

And then we came to the bison wrestling.

34:48

It was going well. Cincinnati

34:50

Twist, down on the

34:53

dingo. That one, you know what I mean? Yeah,

34:55

that one. I'm naming these things now. And

35:00

I guess to the end, I got the bison

35:02

pinned.

35:03

Just about to get up. The audience

35:06

is starting to stand.

35:08

And Aunt Hildy reaches down, grabs

35:11

a pistol,

35:12

fires it into the air.

35:14

That bison goes crazy. Tears

35:17

right through my legs. Horrible. Went

35:19

all the way from here to here. Didn't

35:23

think I was going to walk again, but I could need more

35:25

than that stuff. I'm all bison milled. Why'd you do

35:27

it? I don't know if she's

35:29

a horrible person.

35:33

Trying not

35:35

to cuss here in front of a child. That's

35:37

a strong word. Protect

35:40

my innocence if you can. Anyway,

35:45

so. I don't think I can. So you

35:47

shoot in the face. She

35:49

got it. She then

35:52

sent me a letter saying

35:55

that my application had been rejected.

35:58

But they did congratulate me.

35:59

I don't have a fantastic comedy.

36:03

She said that I... But your show is not a comedy!

36:06

Exactly. Exactly, son. She was

36:08

making game of you! She said...

36:11

She said to me, in that letter she said... I

36:15

wasn't the only one living out of the show,

36:17

because she was doubled over laughing. And

36:19

you want to know what the worst part is?

36:21

I had to pay for a goddamn postage!

36:26

I've been married. That is just...

36:29

I... I can't get the clear.

36:32

Rach! She's double dead.

36:35

I'll do it. You got a double killer? I have

36:37

to. Wow. You'd

36:39

be surprised. Yeah, we kind

36:41

of... yeah. You break reference

36:44

to a few things and I got my... You

36:46

know, I'm a little concerned about

36:48

some of the things you... Is there a chance

36:50

our hild is gonna come back if we shoot her in the head?

36:54

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You never know,

36:57

really, with...

36:59

With the things we've seen, but we

37:01

will make sure that we get her the second time

37:03

too.

37:04

Okay, double-tap it is. As

37:07

you're having this conversation, the building that

37:09

you saw the lantern light disappear

37:11

into, a large light suddenly

37:13

switches on top of it, and

37:15

a first light starts to sweep across the

37:18

lake. So

37:20

I would like...

37:23

Thank you. To make myself

37:25

wrong. Oh, oh, okay, right, the rest we

37:27

have. Okay.

37:32

Oh, no, Penny. No.

37:37

No? No. Okay, the...

37:39

the searchlight sweeps across the... Across

37:42

the lake, and it sweeps across you and then stops,

37:45

and it swings back. Are you... stand

37:47

there. What are you doing? Howdy fellas, I

37:49

found this boat out in the lake. I

37:52

got it out.

37:53

This one was left,

37:57

and I thought I'd bring it back, and...

39:30

I

40:00

think you get

40:00

a Benny for murder

40:03

for

40:22

the creative murder everyone

40:29

gets a Benny for making this right

40:32

now on the far side

40:36

of the ornamental

40:40

lake here at the World's Fair you're

40:42

stood in front of this large neoclassical

40:44

building that has the name and

40:47

the logo of the fulcrum corporation

40:50

this is where the people are heading in

40:52

what do you

40:54

want to sneak you want to capture me

40:57

I mind

40:58

what do you guys feel more comfortable

41:01

with I'm not the

41:02

stealthiest I think of this

41:04

huge six foot four bucking man

41:06

yeah like I'm a little

41:10

awkward I don't fit through too many tax basis

41:12

but I give it a go everyone do me in just

41:15

a nice role from where

41:17

you are

41:18

oh okay to

41:20

the next for plus

41:24

six so

41:26

can you

41:31

please well I'm great so yeah everyone succeeded

41:33

so yeah where you're standing you can see that where

41:35

you saw the person go into it's a sort of more of a watchtower

41:38

that's overlooking the lake with

41:40

a light on top of it the building itself like

41:43

I said is a large neoclassical building it has sort of

41:45

steps leading up to it there are

41:47

double doors at the top and those are

41:49

they look extremely well locked

41:52

they have chains around the handle

41:55

but on the sort of side of the building

41:58

there is what looks like

42:00

The entrance to some kind of attraction

42:02

you've seen several of these attractions around

42:05

the World's Fair

42:06

There's a a lot of sort

42:08

of marquee style title over

42:10

the top of it which says eat

42:12

for health the merry-go-round of nutrition

42:14

and The doors

42:16

to that building open and there is just a sort of velvet

42:19

rope

42:20

and a carpet kind of blocking

42:22

that doorway So you have to there look to be two

42:24

entrances to this building one is the

42:26

merry-go-round of nutrition Entrance

42:29

and the other is the sort of actual doors in the building

42:31

which are currently

42:34

One fancy a ride on the merry-go-round

42:37

of nutrition. I don't know

42:39

what most of the words you just said were It's

42:43

this new fancy thing which they're trying to

42:45

tell us that we have to eat for our health. I

42:47

don't get it Well, yeah,

42:49

if you don't eat you die. Yeah, but they're

42:51

trying to say everyone knows that eat certain

42:54

types of food Cuz it makes you feel better or

42:56

something. Well, you die. Do

42:57

they still have a huge pink ring around? Do

43:05

you think that way Very

43:09

very locked and I'm not

43:11

sure my luck picker do anything

43:12

with that just like it didn't do anything near the door

43:15

Yeah, I'm kind of strong, but that looks a little

43:18

tough even for me We

43:20

could shoot it, but then there are no coming But

43:23

then they're gonna know we're coming if we go walking

43:26

through a open door, why would they lock

43:28

this door up

43:29

so tight?

43:30

Probably just something cool on the other side, but

43:33

then leave this

43:35

Cuz I'm sorry lay sure as any what like

43:37

nutrition on the other side That's why they let the note nobody's

43:40

gonna go in there willingly are they so that's not proof

43:43

That's probably not gonna lead us directly to

43:45

Yeah, that's

43:47

not gonna lead us straight to but I don't

43:49

know but we should bash through a wall

43:50

or something

43:53

Yeah, it's in the same

43:59

building I think you're gonna join in war

44:02

yeah that could be like you know some

44:05

engineer interests

44:07

that we could use yeah

44:10

oh we could try and lure a utility

44:12

out

44:13

beyond the side of a wall fight through

44:15

it bear him here like the whole thing up sorry

44:18

my mind's just fool the ideas right now how

44:20

we could kill him I'm enjoying this very

44:22

much it's not a wild idea that you would be

44:24

here to

44:24

talk to on hildy if you do actually do

44:27

have all this previous history that you mentioned

44:29

you could just be out here not just for

44:32

revenge you could be what if you

44:34

wanted to just ask her again if

44:36

you could put your show in her light

44:39

up town that's not a bad idea

44:42

I do like the idea that

44:44

it kind of feels like you're suggesting a little

44:46

bit of a showdown

44:48

you challenge her through showdown and

44:53

then from

44:54

just buying that building over there

44:56

I put my head around the corner blow the head off

45:03

how

45:16

do we how do we do our house

45:18

I guess I'm wondering through nutrition

45:20

and

45:21

Colorado you guys had

45:25

okay

45:29

so you're going into eat for health America

45:31

round of nutrition mm-hmm yeah

45:33

so there's a sign outside this it's a sort of it's

45:37

like a like a stone

45:39

marker with a sort of hexagonal sign on it has

45:41

the title of the of the of the

45:43

attraction on it and there's like a red

45:45

carpet leading in this velvet

45:48

rope

45:49

you can

45:50

easily sort of detach it walk through that's not

45:52

that's not a problem and you walk into

45:55

what looks like a sort of auditorium there's

45:57

a stage with a curtain down and

45:59

being

45:59

projected onto the curtain of the words again

46:02

the merry-go-round of nutrition there are rows and rows of seats

46:05

and yeah that's the room you find yourself in

46:08

currently. If we hide around

46:10

here then you call us.

46:13

This room doesn't seem to

46:15

go anywhere. What

46:16

the hell? I walk as far as I can like

46:19

like if there's an auditorium there's presumably like what looks

46:21

like a stage. Yeah there's like what looks like a stage. Yeah I

46:23

just want to kind of like hop up on there and just

46:25

start sort of poking around looking

46:28

for you know looking for a way through. Yeah

46:30

okay do me a notice Ron? 23. Okay so

46:34

yeah. Here's the blueprint. So you're

46:36

stood on the on the stage you'll

46:46

notice that it's it's not square

46:49

it's on the sort of like like a wedge there's

46:52

a heavy

46:53

curtain at the back and you sort of lift that

46:55

up and there's nothing behind the curtain there's no

46:58

sort of like stage area it's just it's

47:00

just a brick wall.

47:03

You look across to the other side of the room to the door

47:05

you came in and the two doors

47:07

sort of swing closed like this and then you hear a loud

47:10

click and then

47:12

a sort of musical refrain

47:15

starts up it's sort of quite jaunty music

47:18

and a voice says please take your seats

47:21

the show will begin momentarily. I do not

47:23

take my seat. Okay.

47:26

Anyone else? I feel like he's

47:28

probably gonna lead into a little bit of this

47:30

theatrics so I'll I'll sort of go find

47:33

like the center seat right at the front and

47:35

just rest my Winchester on my

47:37

lap and sort of like he's pretty

47:39

sure like Aunt Hill's gonna walk out here at some point

47:41

so yeah. Edie's

47:45

gonna hide somewhere

47:48

behind one of the seats and just kind of like peek

47:52

it through. Cool. Up on the stage.

47:55

Okay. So Lacey you're up on the stage

47:57

you hear like another click and

47:59

then The floor under

48:02

you starts to rotate

48:05

and the other side the wall starts

48:07

to move towards you. Will it? No. So

48:11

there's a large wall moving towards you,

48:13

the rest of you, you see it, like another scene

48:15

is rotating around into the auditorium

48:17

that you're in. Delacey, there is a large

48:20

wall moving towards you. If you

48:22

don't move you're probably going to be squashed by this thing.

48:24

So... Alright. How

48:27

fast is it coming? It's not. It's a leisurely pace.

48:30

I mean, it's a leisurely pace but it's... Alright.

48:32

Well I'd like to step down off the stage

48:34

once the brick wall goes past me. Back

48:37

up onto it. Okay. See

48:39

what's in here. Yeah, so the scene that has kind

48:41

of rotated around into this auditorium,

48:44

it's a

48:47

kitchen scene. And the

48:49

narration sort of starts playing in this theatre.

48:53

The foods we eat play an important part in keeping

48:55

us healthy in our daily lives. And

48:57

the food pyramid helps guide your way to eating

49:00

healthy every day of the week. Just

49:02

remember this simple rhyme. Fruit

49:04

and veggies, meat and grains. Feed

49:07

your body, feed your brains. There

49:09

are some animatronic vegetables.

49:13

On the stage with you now, Delacey, there's a

49:16

banana,

49:16

a apple, a carrot and

49:19

a head of broccoli. They have arms and legs

49:21

and they're repeating this mantra. Like,

49:24

fruit and veggies, meat and grains. Feed

49:26

your body, feed your brains.

49:29

Er, well, I pour my gun.

49:33

Is he here or... How

49:37

the hell is this? I think... It's

49:39

pretty shocking because I've never seen an animatronic

49:41

before. Yeah. These animatronics

49:43

are all singing and... I give the broccoli a big

49:46

kick. Okay,

49:49

the broccoli sort of rocks backwards and then sort

49:51

of like

49:52

weebles back into the

49:59

weird little dance. The narration is still going

50:02

on about the vitamin benefits of vegetables

50:04

in the background. Vitamins. What words are they

50:06

going to make up next? Making any sense to you? I'm

50:10

not quite sure but this

50:13

is surely the strangest thing I've ever seen. Um,

50:15

I think I should... That's

50:17

a carrot. I don't know what that one is.

50:20

It's a tree I think. Oh honey,

50:22

that's broccoli.

50:23

It's

50:25

very nice.

50:27

Oh it ain't? What are you talking about? Chocolate

50:29

is gross. She

50:31

lies quite a lot. Oh really?

50:34

I do not. I

50:36

would never lie to you. It's about the mermaid.

50:41

I think we can probably do this another time.

50:44

You start there... From the other

50:47

side of the auditorium, so the

50:49

kind of far right wall, you start to hear some sort of...some

50:53

commotion, some stuff is moving around. It seems like

50:56

maybe the ride isn't supposed to have activated and people are wondering

50:58

what's going on.

50:59

Um, I

51:01

think you should get down from here

51:02

and have me or... How

51:05

about the carrot boy? Well, well, my

51:08

knife just rolls pretty good right? Can

51:10

I surmise from

51:12

what's happened so far that like

51:15

the stage bit of this is

51:17

a rotating circle, like a sort of disc?

51:20

Yeah, you saw the thing move towards you. Yeah,

51:26

and yeah, so if there's audible

51:29

commotion, it's probably coming from like somewhere in the next

51:31

scene or maybe from sort of outside

51:33

the theater itself. I think that's fair to the

51:36

scene. And from the seats where we're

51:38

sat, we're not going to be able to get anywhere.

51:41

So I would like to creep

51:45

into the scene, maybe hide like in

51:47

a cupboard or something, or

51:49

something into this kitchen scene. I basically

51:51

just want to wait until it rotates

51:53

around to the back. Okay, um, I've

51:56

just got visions of Delacey pretending to be like a little

51:58

boy in the scene.

51:59

Well I think we only have two though. We're

52:03

eating a carrot. Um yeah,

52:05

yeah you go to the, there are some kitchen cabinets,

52:07

you go to the back of the kitchen

52:09

cabinets. Yeah. They're all

52:11

solid, they don't open. They're all like fused to

52:14

the wall. And as you do this, um,

52:16

a change seems to come over the animatronic

52:19

vegetables. Of course. Um they all turn to look

52:22

and... I'm

52:28

so convinced that they're

52:31

into initiative. Okay,

52:34

so we have, I've already checked the broccoli, so it's probably...

52:36

Yeah, that probably wouldn't be. Broccoli's mad. Alright,

52:38

so, bison, billy. Yeah, okay, it's finally there. Mmm,

52:40

I think so. Billacy

52:45

with an eight, and then we've got banana

52:48

on six. Oh

52:51

man, a king for the apple. Oh,

52:54

the apple's coming back for revenge! A

52:57

king for the carrot. You shot the apple, you

52:59

shot a cousin! Oh my god. A

53:01

king for the carrot, and a seven. Those apples,

53:04

broccoli, carrot, banana, and Evie laughs. Very cool. Take

53:07

a knife in there, and then, and

53:10

Evie laughs.

53:12

Um,

53:15

okay great, so the apple is going to attack first.

53:18

The apple is actually, um, it's holding a knife and

53:21

fork, because part of this, um, horrific

53:24

thing, and, uh, it's moving

53:26

towards you because you're the one on stage currently.

53:28

In fact, all of the animatronics are currently facing

53:30

you. So the apple is going to try

53:32

and attack you with, let's

53:34

say the fork. Why not? The

53:37

apple's gonna use its, uh, edge vengeance.

53:44

Okay, that's a three, so

53:46

the apple swings at you with a fork, but doesn't

53:48

actually connect, you might just swing out of the

53:50

way. But hot on the heels is

53:52

the carrot, and the carrot,

53:55

um, is holding, uh, two smaller

53:57

carrots.

53:58

And they are... They

54:00

are linked with a chain.

54:01

So that's what I'm talking

54:03

about.

54:03

You think I'm a nuttucker. Okay,

54:08

that is a fight. So that's a success on the race.

54:11

So the damage. What's your

54:13

parry, Delacey? Two. Oh

54:17

god. Okay, so yeah, the carrot

54:19

hits you with the nunchucks. The

54:21

carrot nunchucks, like, across the face. You

54:24

get hit and you are shaken. Okay,

54:27

Billy, it's your turn. I need

54:29

to... I need to flat out this carrot. And

54:33

I don't... do

54:33

I want to shoot? How tall are they?

54:37

Like, human size. Yeah,

54:39

okay. They have

54:41

to promote their faces. Mm-hmm.

54:44

Right. Like,

54:47

fixed sort of rictus grins. Real, real.

54:51

They just got way creepier as well. The

54:53

heads turned red. They are

54:55

all still singing as well. Feed

54:57

your body, feed your brain. Oh

54:59

fuck, yeah, I wasn't going to shoot, but

55:01

now I'm like, no. We're

55:04

not doing this. And

55:07

yeah, I'll take my Winchester and

55:10

I'll go for the carrot. Yeah.

55:13

And get your hands off my son. I

55:15

mean, little Italy. Yeah, take...

55:18

do a shooting roll. Yes,

55:20

that was.

55:23

I was like, I'm better at riding. And

55:25

you just went, I don't think we're going to have one riding, but okay.

55:28

It was all for Pakistan. It was

55:30

all for Pakistan. Five.

55:33

I'm crashing through the wall. High five. Okay,

55:35

so first roll damage on your Winchester. Winchester,

55:37

which is 2d8. Six. Eight.

55:43

Oh, wow, okay, so... Oh, plus one, I

55:45

get for Winchester. Nice. All right,

55:47

yeah, you destroy this carrot,

55:49

if you want to describe how that goes. Like, yeah, as

55:51

it whips around and hits Delacey, I'm

55:54

going to say, hey, carrots,

55:56

I'll be seeing the dark. Notice this. Bam.

55:59

Whoa.

55:59

Yeah, huge, like, trunk

56:02

of that top head of the carrot

56:03

just gets blown away and you can see these sort

56:05

of whirring gears and Mechanisms

56:08

underneath and the carrot sort of spins around and just

56:10

like falls over on its back It's arms and legs are

56:12

still going but it's suddenly...

56:14

Oh no, we got a double tap and it's still going!

56:17

And it sort of winds down and it's like... Oh,

56:19

ging-gong! It's really cool.

56:24

Carrot is out. Carrot's gone. Right,

56:26

next, Lacey, your turn. Yeah. You get to

56:29

actually kill all the vegetables. So I'm

56:32

surrounded by the...

56:33

what you say is broccoli Apple

56:37

that tried to attack me. Yes. For

56:39

mist and I don't know what this yellow

56:41

bendy looking one is. Okay

56:47

I don't know, I think like just the kind

56:49

of gun I've got, I don't know how effective it's gonna

56:52

be against something that's not like

56:53

flesh and bone.

56:55

Um, is there like on

56:57

the walls or anything? Can I see anything? Is

56:59

there like a lever or something?

57:01

Someone must run this attraction,

57:04

right? It must be operated in some way. Yeah,

57:06

it doesn't appear to be operated from here. This is just the

57:08

staging area. So there's nothing that you can see.

57:10

It's just this static kitchen set currently. If

57:12

I can shake off Shaken, which I have to do before I can

57:15

do anything, right? Yeah, you gotta do a bigger roll. If

57:17

I can do that, I think what I'd

57:19

like to do, because Lacey's lesson

57:22

is... If I can

57:24

do that, then I'd like to scamper on top of the

57:26

sort of fixed kitchen cabinet

57:29

so that I'm just up high. I don't think these things

57:31

can get any higher. Yeah, do you want to run up

57:33

there? Yeah, all right, do me a bigger roll. Come

57:36

on, come on.

57:37

One...

57:44

That's a six! That's a six! Twelve.

57:48

Twelve plus five. You run

57:50

Shaken, you'll find two. I'd

57:53

like to spit out two. And yeah,

57:55

um... So be... You. Thank

57:58

you! I thought you were losing.

57:59

Yeah, you're a man now. You're

58:02

a man now. That's the idea. It's been loose for a

58:04

long time. This

58:07

is just a convenient opportunity

58:10

to get rid of it in a badass way. Is

58:13

that a baby tooth? That looks

58:15

handy. Little fang. That's

58:18

so small. Yeah, and I want to just kind of

58:20

like swarm up to... Yeah, that's fine. I'll

58:22

let you do that. Do me a shooting

58:24

roll for those. Oh

58:29

yeah, that's like... You destroyed

58:31

this. The apple, was it? Mmm. I

58:35

think the banana would be the most confusing.

58:38

Right. It

58:40

would look the most threatening. You blow this banana

58:42

away. Yeah, tell me about

58:45

it. Well, yeah, I suppose

58:47

aim for centre mass.

58:49

And...

58:51

It's one of the custom bullets, let's say this one. So,

58:54

yeah, just burst from the inside. You

58:57

just blow a fist-sized hole in this banana

58:59

and it sort of spins around and hits

59:01

the floor. What's the banana's weapon? Two.

59:05

It had a... Top machine gun. Yeah. Oh,

59:09

the band-aid gun. Oh, fuck. No,

59:14

the banana was holding a rolling pin. I

59:16

think it must have picked it up off the set. Oh, okay.

59:19

Making banana bread. Yeah, it was like... Can

59:21

you say it? Yeah, wait up. It's

59:24

dead now. Yeah, banana's down. All right.

59:27

It's the broccoli's turn. No, no. Okay,

59:30

so you are still the only one on the stage, the lazy. Yeah,

59:32

but I'm up high. I'm up high. I

59:35

did just shoot one of them in the greens

59:37

in case that caught any of their attentions. Yeah, I mean,

59:39

they're probably... I think

59:42

they're not distracted by these things because

59:44

they're unfeeling automatons. Yeah, 100% fair. The

59:47

banana's now... The broccoli reaches

59:50

over, and there's like a kitchen

59:53

table with chairs, and the broccoli sort of

59:55

wrenches the chair. It's like

59:57

screwed to the floor, but it pings off

59:59

the...

59:59

It's a big squeeze. And it

1:00:02

takes a big swing at you with a chair. Why are they built

1:00:04

so strong? That's what it's gonna do. Right,

1:00:07

spiking rolls and it's... We wanted

1:00:09

one of them to bring out a cloud-sized sword.

1:00:12

A seed-like weapon of murder. It's

1:00:16

only Apple uses it to let it break. It's

1:00:19

only a three from the broccoli, so it swings at you

1:00:22

but it misses. Can I sort of hop

1:00:24

over it? Sure, why not.

1:00:26

So the broccoli is missed, the banana is dead, it's eating

1:00:28

it. Okay,

1:00:31

well I've always wanted to visit the big apple.

1:00:34

So Edie's gonna jump

1:00:36

out and wrench

1:00:39

her sword off Winchester out from under her skirt.

1:00:41

Mm-hmm. That's

1:00:45

the apple. That's the apple. It's a little

1:00:47

duck. Do me a shooting roll. Three

1:00:51

and a half.

1:00:54

No.

1:00:56

Okay, so yeah, you missed. Your

1:00:58

shot goes wide. Dang it. Yeah,

1:01:02

the broccoli and the apple are still up. Alright,

1:01:04

round two. Let's go. There's my cool big

1:01:06

apple line in every

1:01:07

minute and I miss. It's tough, you can't go

1:01:09

big with a line and then miss. You know, you've really

1:01:11

gotta nail the forefer by some

1:01:14

lilies. Five, four...

1:01:17

Edie. Hey. Go on

1:01:19

out for the work. One more and less. Yeah. The

1:01:23

apple's got an eight. Okay, Blasey, it's

1:01:25

your turn. You go first. Okay. Well,

1:01:29

does the ceiling meet the walls? So

1:01:31

the walls of this kind of scene? Yeah. Does

1:01:34

it go all the way up to the ceiling? Or

1:01:36

is there some kind of like

1:01:37

space? There's like a very

1:01:39

small gap. But not like large

1:01:41

enough to see it. So we can

1:01:44

travel through, yeah. But not like large

1:01:46

enough for me to squirt a little squirt. No,

1:01:48

unless you wanted to get crushed to death, which is

1:01:50

an option. Good

1:01:54

tough option. Yeah,

1:01:56

all right. Well, I'll shoot the broccoli. Yeah. Yeah,

1:01:59

shooting will be. First light I'm gonna have a chat. Let's

1:02:01

go shoot the first. Yeah, let's shoot the broccoli. We...

1:02:04

okay. Yeah,

1:02:08

success. Do me damage. Cool. Okay.

1:02:11

So that's That's 14.

1:02:18

Yeah, you blow just an enormous chunk off this head

1:02:20

of broccoli. It goes spinning off

1:02:22

into the crowd. You

1:02:25

build, you move that way. You move that way. It's

1:02:28

like being sort

1:02:29

of like a straight down on its face. Really,

1:02:31

really nice. Nice. Broccoli

1:02:34

is out. Okay, Apple's turn. Which

1:02:37

way is this going to surrender? The

1:02:40

apple has a sort of heavy plastic

1:02:43

apple in it's hands. We're

1:02:46

not plastic,

1:02:46

it's made of metal or some description. It's gonna

1:02:48

hurl it at your face. Okay,

1:02:50

fine. You've killed

1:02:53

my friend. We

1:02:55

should leave one vegetable alive to tell the others. Yeah.

1:02:59

Rolled at 1. Throws his hand back

1:03:01

and the apple just keeps going back. Again, you're

1:03:04

right. You're stuck out of

1:03:06

the way. Wow, this is like 4D. This

1:03:09

is great. The apple has

1:03:11

this shit. Alright, so

1:03:14

that means it is now Edie's

1:03:16

turn. Okay, right, yeah, I'm

1:03:18

gonna try and shoot the apple again. Let's

1:03:21

get this.

1:03:25

Yes.

1:03:28

And a 3, so that's 9 altogether. Success

1:03:30

with the raise. Roll an additional

1:03:32

damage dice. Oh yeah. I'm

1:03:38

gonna do a minus 1. Yeah, that'll

1:03:40

do it. What are you using, Sornoff?

1:03:44

Sornoff with Winchester. Also

1:03:47

known as a man's leg. Okay. Yeah,

1:03:50

this just like, again, punches the hole

1:03:52

directly through the centre of the apple. Much

1:03:54

like before, actually. This is a familiar sight

1:03:57

to those who attended by some Billy's Wild West show.

1:03:59

And yeah, the animatronic apple, the boom,

1:04:02

and it's like,

1:04:03

crunches down onto the floor. That is all

1:04:05

the animatronic fruit and vegetables dead. And

1:04:08

Roy Sofer goes, and that's why fruit

1:04:10

and vegetables are important to a balanced diet.

1:04:15

The stage starts to rotate again. Delacy,

1:04:17

you might want to hop down.

1:04:23

Thank you to sponsor Misty Mountain Gaming for their

1:04:39

What's this? Oh, I'm just playing poker with these incredible

1:04:42

Oxventure cards. Look, the playing cards'

1:04:44

backs have got an Oxventure design. The

1:04:46

front of them have got actual playing card stuff on them,

1:04:49

like the King of Diamonds. That's a good one. The

1:04:51

box itself is premium imitation

1:04:53

leather that's actually cardboard. Check

1:04:55

it out and go to the link in the description

1:04:57

of this video to get your own Oxventure

1:05:00

playing cards. They glide as softly as a cloud.

1:05:02

Look at that. You know why everyone was so

1:05:04

angry all the time in the Wild West? Well, I'll

1:05:07

tell you, friends, it's because T-shirts had not yet become

1:05:10

accepted wear around town. But

1:05:12

now they have, and you can wear this one,

1:05:14

which is the Oxventure Presents Deadlands T-shirt.

1:05:17

It's got all of your favourite characters. Yandru,

1:05:21

Clemency, Big Jim, all

1:05:23

of them are there. And you can wear that on

1:05:26

your body by going to store.outsidexbox.com, check the link

1:05:28

in the description of this video, or

1:05:30

the merch shelf underneath this video. And you

1:05:32

too can check out

1:05:35

old Uncle Clandrew here. They're

1:05:38

all the popular characters. So check that out, wear

1:05:40

some Deadlands on your body today. I don't

1:05:42

think we want to see what's on the other side

1:05:44

of this advancing wall,

1:05:46

because probably more of these things, or

1:05:48

something else?

1:05:50

Yeah, that's quite possible. Maybe

1:05:52

we stay put.

1:05:53

Maybe you hop up on here with me and we all just rotate

1:05:56

around to the back.

1:05:58

Alright. Better plan to stay in

1:06:00

here and wait for Rovers coming down that way. Come

1:06:03

get us. After all, the back of this thing is what

1:06:05

faces onto the mansion, right?

1:06:08

It's a better guest than we have, unless you got anything.

1:06:11

I don't. It's either

1:06:13

we hide behind these chairs

1:06:16

and Pete can see what's coming

1:06:17

or we try and get out before they get you.

1:06:20

Let's say we just follow the kid. Okay.

1:06:23

Great. So

1:06:26

yeah, the stage rotates with you round into,

1:06:30

it's a sort of feels like an

1:06:32

empty warehouse kind of a

1:06:34

room that you're in now.

1:06:35

And it just sort of stops. Where you

1:06:37

are now, there is, you can, well,

1:06:40

do me a notice roll to see what you can discern

1:06:42

about this. Can we have a meat show that's now going

1:06:44

on? We

1:06:47

can hear a faint music coming from the other side. Sakes

1:06:50

like, hey, are you kidding? The

1:06:53

notice roll is eight.

1:06:56

The ride seems to have stopped. It's

1:06:59

something automatic seems to have triggered. So

1:07:02

the rotation has stopped. There are no

1:07:04

obvious exits from this room. It's very bare.

1:07:07

It's obviously not meant to be seen by the public. There is,

1:07:09

you can see from this side, there

1:07:11

is a door leading back into the room that you were just in. It

1:07:14

must have been disguised from kind of the other side, but

1:07:16

this appears to be some sort of like maintenance room.

1:07:19

But there are no other exits in this room that you

1:07:21

can,

1:07:21

you can see.

1:07:23

All right. Well, let's I want to go

1:07:25

feel like the war, the warehouse walls.

1:07:28

It's like if our geography is right and the whole

1:07:30

thing was like to the side of the house that we're trying to get into.

1:07:33

We came in this way. You can see the building

1:07:36

is the building was here. Yeah. The entrance

1:07:38

to the thing was on the left hand side of

1:07:40

it. So it's rotated out. You've

1:07:43

basically the right hand way is the way

1:07:45

that you would want to go into the buildings. The left hand

1:07:47

way is taking your way. Well, that's fine. Let's just stay

1:07:49

here and wait. It's going to go. Any

1:07:52

more time, right? Well, then we can just go through

1:07:54

the door. I might just go and

1:07:57

have a

1:07:58

little like peek through the door. We'll see

1:08:00

if anyone has come in to check the commotion.

1:08:05

Yeah, maybe on buildings. Yeah,

1:08:08

it might be there.

1:08:08

Okay, so yeah, you poke your head back

1:08:11

into the room that you were just in.

1:08:12

There is a new scene now that's rotated

1:08:14

into position.

1:08:16

This looks like a sort of bakery.

1:08:20

There seems to be racks

1:08:22

of bread and things. On the stage,

1:08:25

there is an animatronic man

1:08:27

made out of bread. And also, a

1:08:30

person dressed as a baker who doesn't look animatronic.

1:08:33

And he sees you, and

1:08:35

he raises a gun, and he's going to fire

1:08:37

at you.

1:08:37

Oh no!

1:08:41

He bites and bloody takes one in between.

1:08:45

He swings forward and back. I

1:08:48

wonder what he saw! Okay,

1:08:50

he has missed. He fires at you and it pings

1:08:52

into the wall next to you. But

1:08:56

the room was empty apart from this odd

1:08:58

tableau. You can briefly hear starchy

1:09:01

foods like cereals, breads, potatoes

1:09:03

and pasta, or rich in vitamins coming through

1:09:05

the door. How

1:09:07

far away am I from him? So

1:09:10

you're on a door

1:09:11

on the sidewalk. He's on the stage probably

1:09:13

about 12 feet away.

1:09:17

I think we need to figure out

1:09:20

the lay of the land. I think Bison

1:09:22

Billy looks at this man,

1:09:25

sees the bullet, and in the

1:09:28

second offer, the split-second offer to hit

1:09:30

the wall is just going to charge this guy and

1:09:32

just fall for the attack. Great! Okay,

1:09:35

yeah. And hold on, I'll get short of the means.

1:09:38

Good, I'm going to deal with this huge man that comes out wrong.

1:09:41

I'm going to deal with Bison Billy, the bread animatronic,

1:09:43

and the baker into an issue. You can stay in the room

1:09:45

or you can join. So

1:09:48

we're kind of, if you like, almost on the opposite

1:09:51

side of this street. Yeah, I literally just

1:09:53

peeped through and then just went... How

1:09:56

far away was he, Phil?

1:09:59

Yeah, yeah. We've gone the last thing. Do

1:10:02

we wanna follow? Well,

1:10:04

it heard the gunshot, right?

1:10:08

I wanna close my eyes and shoot through the wall

1:10:10

where the gunshot came

1:10:11

from. I think, okay. Well,

1:10:13

that's gonna be a decision. Yeah, so, okay, yeah, sure.

1:10:16

Yeah, what do you mean? Um, yeah, I'm

1:10:18

gonna. Yeah. Yeah.

1:10:20

I'm

1:10:22

gonna run in as well. Six, three.

1:10:26

Flush, look at that.

1:10:28

Hey. Bread man

1:10:31

with a three and a king for the baker.

1:10:33

Oh, no. That's

1:10:36

bad for me. Okay, the baker

1:10:38

sees you running and

1:10:41

he draws a revolver from his belt

1:10:43

and he is gonna fan the hammer.

1:10:48

Baker and hammer's running. That

1:10:52

was the commotion behind the thing. They knew

1:10:54

that something was up. Oh, I see. But

1:10:56

he took time to dress up as a baker. He was

1:10:59

already dressed up. I was poking

1:11:01

holes in my... He farted the show. He

1:11:03

farted the show and then backstage we heard something

1:11:05

was up and they were like, right, we've gotta be packing when

1:11:08

we go on stage. Well, yeah, because they might get attacked

1:11:10

by a short of banana. Yeah. All

1:11:13

right, the baker's making a shooting roll. That's a success.

1:11:17

Now he's gonna fan the hammer. So he's gonna try and just

1:11:19

like hold the trigger down and slap the hammer.

1:11:22

Six times he's gonna try and shoot off six

1:11:25

bullets of one at you because you run it in. That's

1:11:28

so dead. What's your toughest

1:11:30

sex with a thing? OK. I

1:11:33

can't. So he

1:11:35

gets all these shots are at a minus four penalty because

1:11:38

he's like just fan the hammer. Oh, right,

1:11:40

OK. He's a baker and then none

1:11:42

of the drawers can do that. That's right. So

1:11:48

yeah, most

1:11:48

of the shots go wide. One of them catches

1:11:50

you in the shoulder as you're

1:11:53

running. So I'm

1:11:55

gonna... Yeah. So

1:11:58

you are you're now shaken, but you don't take... I'm

1:12:00

going to do it. Damn right.

1:12:03

Delacey got three didn't he? I

1:12:06

should have um... Oh

1:12:08

you get another count I think. I should have remembered

1:12:10

you couldn't

1:12:11

punish me. Ohhhhhh!

1:12:13

It should have been Delacey's turn now. Well

1:12:16

this is more convenient because he shouldn't have shot his gun

1:12:18

six times. So in my

1:12:21

like trying to sort of position through all

1:12:23

where it is. I'm just kinda gonna be like

1:12:25

bang bang bang bang.

1:12:28

No. Place

1:12:32

Rooster up against the wall and fire through

1:12:35

it where I'm pretty sure the baker's head is on the other

1:12:37

side. Do me a shooting roll at

1:12:39

a minus two for the fact that you're shooting through

1:12:41

a wall. Yep that's totally fair.

1:12:44

Delacey watches a love the film Wanted. It

1:12:46

makes me curve the bullet. You get

1:12:48

around the door.

1:12:49

Okay. Yeah.

1:12:54

Cool. We're very ready. We're

1:12:56

gonna miss the damage. One,

1:12:58

two, plus one, plus

1:13:01

seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. Eleven.

1:13:06

Yeah that's a success with a raise so

1:13:08

yeah you do hit

1:13:09

this guy. Do you wanna describe what

1:13:11

happens? Well I mean... I

1:13:14

can't see it. I can't

1:13:16

see it. He's

1:13:18

just like him out the hallway. The only one who gets to

1:13:21

jump into midair is he gets taken out.

1:13:24

I just tackle the bread man. I suppose Billy

1:13:26

as you lunge his head

1:13:29

just like... So on time you tackle his lip twitching. Cool.

1:13:36

And he's got wailing on it actually. Yeah

1:13:38

so that happens. A large red

1:13:40

stain spreads across his brilliant

1:13:43

white baking uniform and he is done. So

1:13:46

let's get rid of... I

1:13:48

get him. I

1:13:50

looked through the hole. Like

1:13:52

a little rascal looking through a fence. He

1:13:56

just shot through. Yeah.

1:13:59

Who was up next? Edie. Yeah.

1:14:02

Yeah, I'm gonna go for the loaf of bread then. Yeah,

1:14:05

so this, looking at it more closely, it's a sort

1:14:08

of weird bread chimera. He has a loaf of bread

1:14:10

for a head, his arms and legs are baguettes. And

1:14:12

he has a sort of like sourdough loaf for a body. And

1:14:15

he sort of like clank, clank, clank. Does he have a like a baguette

1:14:17

sword or anything? Yeah, he has a baguette sword. Okay. We'll

1:14:19

take him. In each arm, he's like holding

1:14:22

them like batons. We're

1:14:26

killing on him, we'll take a sword. Okay. Okay.

1:14:28

Okay.

1:14:29

Alright. Yeah. Um,

1:14:32

I'm gonna try and shoot it again. Okay.

1:14:35

Uh, alright. Let's...

1:14:36

Yes, yes.

1:14:40

That's a two. I

1:14:42

hit it with a two. And I'm like, oh,

1:14:45

hey, bread man.

1:14:47

This is the yeast of your problem. Okay.

1:14:52

And you do two. I see you only do two damage. And

1:14:54

then you do two damage. Yeah, that does not exceed

1:14:56

the toughness. Is

1:14:59

it shaken? It is not shaken.

1:15:02

Um... No.

1:15:07

Okay, so it was... You,

1:15:10

Bice and Billy, you are shaking, so you need to do a bigger roll before

1:15:12

you can act. Okay. Bigger, bigger, bigger,

1:15:14

bigger. Oh, can I help you with the... Just

1:15:19

shake this off. Can I do work the room,

1:15:21

which is my edge, which is basically,

1:15:24

I can like say some nice words. Um,

1:15:27

an eye roll persuasion, and

1:15:29

then you can add that roll for whatever you roll.

1:15:31

Oh, okay. So...

1:15:34

Okay.

1:15:38

So that's a nine. Hey, Billy.

1:15:41

You shake that off. You've got this. You

1:15:43

get that bread, man. Alright. Get

1:15:46

that bread. Wake up, get that bread. I

1:15:49

am kind of hungry. So, he adds

1:15:51

nine to whatever he rolls. Yeah,

1:15:53

I think so. Well, that would automatically unshake him anyway, see

1:15:55

if it needs a roll. Oh, yeah. Wow.

1:15:58

See you, free to act. Amazing.

1:15:59

I guess

1:16:02

I'll tackle the red man. End of day?

1:16:04

Yes. Do me a fighting roll. Uh, fighting

1:16:06

roll is... He's

1:16:10

also... Proton, let's use

1:16:12

protect brains. Your body, your brain.

1:16:15

Same as before, so... 60. 60, yes. That

1:16:18

is a success with... two,

1:16:20

three raises. Uh, oof,

1:16:22

okay. I think we can damage on... Well,

1:16:25

originally my plan was to tackle the man so

1:16:27

that we could get some information out of him. Um,

1:16:29

but... I don't really need

1:16:32

to do that with the red man, so I guess I'll probably just

1:16:34

sort of... go over there. Bison

1:16:36

punch! Bison punch! Okay, that'd be strength

1:16:38

plus d4. And because it's got a raise, I do... Yeah,

1:16:41

it had another... Well, that was two

1:16:43

raises, wasn't it? Yeah, it had two more d4s.

1:16:47

Uh, so that is seven, uh,

1:16:50

nine, ten, fourteen.

1:16:53

Yeah, you absolutely destroyed it. Bison

1:16:55

punch! Just

1:16:58

punch the central sourdough loaf out of it.

1:17:01

It's sort of like... down

1:17:03

into a big pile. I see

1:17:05

this is keyhole in a single tear. Amazing.

1:17:09

My, uh, fists are smoking. Yeah.

1:17:13

So yeah, this, um... The

1:17:15

bakery scene, sort of, just like, um,

1:17:17

the audio, like, abruptly cuts out. And

1:17:19

then the stage starts to

1:17:21

rotate, again, um...

1:17:23

quicker this time. And,

1:17:26

uh, the scene that starts to sort of come around,

1:17:28

um, looks like a sort of slaughterhouse.

1:17:31

I told you to meet people, and I told you to meet people, you'll

1:17:33

after me! I told you to meet people, and

1:17:35

I told you to meet people, you'll after me! And, um...

1:17:39

There doesn't seem to be any animatronics in this

1:17:41

scene, but what there is is a man dressed

1:17:43

in a cow costume. And he is on what

1:17:45

is known as a Maxim gun. And that is a large

1:17:47

cylindrical machine gun, which is being,

1:17:50

like, fed by a belt of ammunition. And

1:17:53

he is gonna start firing the Maxim gun. Can

1:17:55

I ask one question? Yes. Does

1:17:58

this cow costume that he has on, does it have hoards?

1:17:59

She doesn't have more than that. Let's go, Chris! All

1:18:02

the way

1:18:02

down! That was

1:18:04

more than it. Okay, so... Alright. Let's

1:18:07

do this final initiative. One

1:18:10

thing this old bastard really loves doing is running

1:18:12

into live ammunition. Alright.

1:18:15

Bison Billy with the king. Yes! Edie

1:18:18

with the ace. Ooh. Delacy

1:18:21

with an ace. With

1:18:23

an ace. Awwww. With an ace for the cow

1:18:25

man. Awwww. Okay, so

1:18:27

the cow man, he's on this, like... enormous

1:18:30

machine gun. That's not what I

1:18:32

know. And he is gonna start firing

1:18:34

at... Who's it... Are you still in the other room?

1:18:37

You're in the holding room? Yep. Okay,

1:18:39

so the two of you are in the room. Yeah, I'm sort of like,

1:18:41

by the door, going... He's

1:18:43

basically gonna sweep this machine gun

1:18:46

across the room. Because

1:18:48

it is such a powerful weapon. I think

1:18:50

he's gonna try and attack both of you at the same

1:18:53

time, but

1:18:53

with a... with a multi-action

1:18:55

penalty to that. So that's what he's gonna try and do. Awwww.

1:19:01

There's only one success. So... One

1:19:05

of you two. Certainly

1:19:09

shooting at us.

1:19:10

Okay, Edie, he is defeated on

1:19:12

a shot against you. With his big sweep. But, uh,

1:19:14

quite severely, I guess you duck down under the chairs. It's

1:19:17

all set up. Can I roll over

1:19:19

and put the sourdough loaf on? Yeah, the

1:19:21

sourdough loaf. In for

1:19:24

the sourdough loaf. Yeah, chunks of

1:19:26

sourdough play everywhere. Yes, yes, yes. Okay,

1:19:28

Edie, he is gonna... This is a lot

1:19:30

of bullets, so... Let me

1:19:32

see what the damage is here. Oh boy.

1:19:36

We'll give you a real nice memorial of the next show.

1:19:38

Don't worry. Thank you.

1:19:41

Pick up your hat, son.

1:19:46

What's your toughness? My toughness is

1:19:49

five. Five. Okay, you are shaken

1:19:51

and you take one wound. Where

1:19:53

am I? Where am I shot? So,

1:19:56

if you're in among the chairs, it sort of just sweeps across. So

1:19:58

I guess you would just... you would catch it.

1:19:59

in the sort of collarbone. Yeah, I get a collarbone anyway.

1:20:02

Yeah. Ah, this is my good collarbone.

1:20:04

My good collarbone. Ouch.

1:20:07

Okay, Bison Billy, it is now your

1:20:09

turn. I've got a very soft leg. I've

1:20:11

got to go, I've got to aim for those horns and

1:20:14

I basically want to like, try

1:20:17

and eat him off the back of this gun by the horns.

1:20:20

Okay, do me an athletics check.

1:20:23

Because you're trying to run up onto the stage and wrestle this guy

1:20:25

off the gun. I'm

1:20:28

going to spend a token. Sure. See

1:20:31

if I can do better. Yes.

1:20:34

Six, five, so

1:20:36

that is 11. Yeah,

1:20:39

so that's a success with the race. Okay,

1:20:41

are you going to fight him

1:20:43

when you get there? Are you going to punch him, hit him? Or do I

1:20:45

try and seduce him? I think I want to like, I want

1:20:47

to grab him by the horns. I'm going

1:20:50

to see if I can try and drag him to a seat. Because

1:20:52

I basically, I think like we could, we do need like

1:20:55

potentially someone to like, help us in this

1:20:57

situation. Because we don't really know where we're going. Um,

1:20:59

so I'm going to try and like, see

1:21:02

if I can like pin him basically, which is my large

1:21:04

size. Yeah. And just scream

1:21:06

in his face. Maybe I can like intimidate him or something. Yeah.

1:21:09

I think I have intimidation as a skill, so. Yeah. Um,

1:21:12

I still got D12 and intimidation. Can I do that?

1:21:14

Yeah, do that. He's going to grab it and go, Ahhh!

1:21:18

Yeah, do me an intimidation

1:21:20

roll. You shot my friend! Ahhh!

1:21:26

That is a, oh, I got it. Uh, hold

1:21:28

on. Uh, 11. Yep. Um,

1:21:31

yeah, okay. Uh, yeah.

1:21:34

You, so describe, describe how this goes down.

1:21:36

Yeah, so I think I, uh, I managed

1:21:38

to like sort of duck under the like

1:21:40

machine gun, and it fires over the top. I

1:21:42

like pop up, grab him by the horn, pull

1:21:45

him down, yank him over to like the seats,

1:21:47

like throw him back against the seat, like screaming

1:21:50

his face. You gotta help

1:21:52

us, now! Okay, okay,

1:21:55

okay. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. That's right.

1:21:58

You better be sorry. I'm very intimidated. good

1:22:01

that was the aim never my objective but what good

1:22:04

okay that's good feedback you

1:22:06

hear that oh

1:22:08

you're getting better you

1:22:10

shot my friend you're

1:22:16

right under

1:22:21

orders right hildy I didn't want to do it well

1:22:24

I just wanted to be an entertainer but

1:22:26

what we hold sorry you want to be a veggie

1:22:28

speed and grains no no no don't start

1:22:31

singing but wait hold you you on stage with

1:22:33

us with a guy didn't the size this

1:22:35

gun you want to turn out there's a lot

1:22:37

more to this job than they said on the

1:22:39

application did you read the contract

1:22:41

no should you read a contract

1:22:44

no don't worry about it you don't worry about

1:22:47

that now that's fine wait what you

1:22:49

should do is check the terms of the you're

1:22:51

gonna tell me exactly how to get to end here it's

1:22:53

the next scene it comes around

1:23:01

it's the end one there's no there's no animatronics

1:23:03

or anything in it there's a door on the other side I'll lead

1:23:05

you into the auditorium where

1:23:06

she is to stop don't kill me

1:23:10

why shouldn't I kill

1:23:12

you

1:23:14

I'll take my pencil

1:23:17

out and I'll look over at Edie like place

1:23:19

it in the exact same

1:23:23

place that Edie got shot and just bang oh

1:23:25

nice come now for now yeah

1:23:28

he starts screaming and

1:23:30

I immediately said I feel like say it's called life riot

1:23:33

turn around the delay so yeah this man in a full cow

1:23:35

costume is now like in the

1:23:48

fetal position clutching his shoulder and

1:23:50

just like is the cow head like

1:23:52

is it like a hat situation yeah it's

1:23:54

removable hundred-percent yeah I know

1:23:58

I'll like

1:23:59

probably pretend to be a... a

1:24:02

ball.

1:24:02

And the gun! Is it liftable?

1:24:04

It's... probably...

1:24:09

I mean, you'd have to drag it, I think. It's like, it's

1:24:11

heavy. Or if two of you did it, you could probably

1:24:14

carry it. But...

1:24:17

I'm just saying, it's a pretty good backup plan. Um... He

1:24:20

has got through quite a lot of the ammunition as well. There's probably,

1:24:22

I don't know, only about 30 rounds left in this thing. Yeah,

1:24:25

that's 30 rounds more than we have now, so...

1:24:28

I mean, I'm up for trying it. Whatever.

1:24:31

Okay, how

1:24:31

about this?

1:24:34

We're sick with plan A, which was... Challenge

1:24:37

on... Challenge for the Japanese. It'll be to a showdown.

1:24:40

Mm-hmm.

1:24:41

But in here...

1:24:45

And... The original plan was,

1:24:47

we pop out from behind a corner and...

1:24:50

shoot her.

1:24:51

Well, if this carousel thing

1:24:53

just keeps running, then maybe it

1:24:56

rotates around... me and Edie... part

1:25:00

of

1:25:00

the attraction? Yeah, if

1:25:02

it seems like an untenable situation, I'll run back

1:25:05

in here and you guys ladder up like this. One

1:25:07

of these, the hero walkway things with the light bulb.

1:25:10

Can I go over to the riding cow

1:25:12

man, and just stand part on his wound?

1:25:15

Sure. And just say

1:25:17

like... How many are in there? Is

1:25:19

it just her or she got more men? Is

1:25:22

her and Jessup and Wexler?

1:25:24

Who's Jessup and Wexler? Is there her? Lackeys?

1:25:27

I don't know, just guys in suits.

1:25:31

Guys in suits? I think we

1:25:33

get that gun, we take it off, we put it

1:25:35

in the auditorium, in the ceiling,

1:25:38

and when it comes around, we prepare, and then

1:25:40

we go through that door. Mm. Then we can

1:25:42

retreat into here and we have a backup plan. Okay, I like that.

1:25:45

Yeah. Okay. I'll load... Through

1:25:47

the door? I'll go over and try and...

1:25:49

Yeah. Lift this thing. Do you have a strength

1:25:51

check? Yeah, you know. Seven.

1:25:54

Okay. Yeah, Bison Billy is as strong as

1:25:56

a bison, as advertised. Um... Can

1:25:59

you able to...

1:25:59

to pick it up,

1:26:02

so you're picking it up out of its stand. Yeah. Okay,

1:26:05

yeah. All right, yeah, and you take it down the stairs

1:26:07

and into the audience. And I'll like prop it against some seats. Yep,

1:26:09

okay,

1:26:11

the stage like chunks and moves around again

1:26:13

and it comes to another one

1:26:16

with a curtain and it says the merry-go-round of nutrition

1:26:19

on it and there is, as advertised,

1:26:22

a door sort of on the far side of this

1:26:24

set.

1:26:26

And

1:26:27

the door behind you unlocks again. You

1:26:29

can hear it go.

1:26:33

Listen, I'm a, you've

1:26:35

been shot up. This is a risky move, so

1:26:37

if anyone wants to back out now,

1:26:40

I'm happy to go in there, but I'll

1:26:42

get you that ring as well if I can, but I just

1:26:44

don't wanna feel pressured. You got a whole life

1:26:46

ahead. Now you should have everything

1:26:48

in your arsenal to eat healthily in

1:26:51

your daily life. Remember the food Caribbean.

1:26:54

This is all coming out of a speaker box. Can I shoot the speaker box?

1:26:57

Yeah. 50 meters. 50 meters. You're

1:27:00

probably sure.

1:27:02

It's indeed. And

1:27:05

simply remember that fruit and veggies

1:27:07

meet in grades. This is another not

1:27:09

looking one.

1:27:10

All

1:27:13

right, the soundtrack is now mercifully seasoned.

1:27:17

Okay, let's go. I'll

1:27:19

get a little brown liquid

1:27:21

out of my pocket. Yeah,

1:27:25

I've really got a kick to it. I can really

1:27:27

taste the well-built hiccup. Yeah, because it had

1:27:29

a foot in it. I think that might have been

1:27:31

the hand. It might have been the hand, okay. I

1:27:33

think I can taste a little bit of index finger. Benny's

1:27:35

for everyone for surviving the

1:27:38

merry-go-round of nutrition.

1:27:41

Back to one, Benny. I

1:27:44

think, yeah, Bison Billard knows

1:27:46

one way to do this. Kick over

1:27:48

the door. Hey, Ann Healy, remember

1:27:51

me? Okay,

1:27:53

so you're stood in this sort of like anti-room

1:27:56

which contains a lot of crates. Wait,

1:27:59

you're done. They're

1:28:02

in the door on the other side of this room. This room

1:28:04

is full of crates that have some sort

1:28:07

of labels on them that say, Unhildy's

1:28:09

Old Fashioned All-Purpose Vittles.

1:28:11

And you can see the can, it has a picture of Unhildy

1:28:14

on it and it's real food. It's

1:28:16

written across the

1:28:19

can. That's a relief. Pushing

1:28:21

things over and breaking them. Yeah, you put

1:28:23

some crates on the thing. Oh, whoops, I'm

1:28:25

so clumsy. They go faster on a few

1:28:27

cans roll out. Look what

1:28:29

I've done. But

1:28:31

yeah, this is a

1:28:33

sort of large-ish room but there is a door on the other side of that. Let's

1:28:36

try this again. Right

1:28:38

up. Hey, Unhildy,

1:28:41

please tell me you're in here. So

1:28:43

this door opens onto a large auditorium.

1:28:46

There's a sort of stage

1:28:48

and you can see who you understand to be Unhildy.

1:28:51

She's still on the stage. She's flanked by

1:28:53

two men in suits. There's a big pyramid

1:28:55

of food cans in front of her,

1:28:58

which are the same as the cans you saw here in

1:29:01

the storage. You're on

1:29:03

a sort of running mezzanine. There is a

1:29:06

staircase leading down into the sort of auditorium

1:29:08

and she's across on the other side of the auditorium.

1:29:11

So at this point,

1:29:12

she's probably about 60

1:29:14

feet away from the unit. You'd have to go sort of

1:29:17

down the stairs to get to her. And

1:29:19

she is going through

1:29:21

a presentation. She's talking, she's

1:29:24

saying, ladies and gentlemen, I appear before you today

1:29:26

to tell you about the wonderful new food products from

1:29:29

the fulcrum company. Too long have our brave

1:29:31

pioneers on the frontier had to eat spoiled

1:29:33

meats and vegetables, unable to keep their

1:29:35

provisions fresh. Our new lines of

1:29:38

canned foods eliminate that problem, providing fresh,

1:29:40

healthy, nutritious food that never goes bad.

1:29:42

It's Unhildy's old fashioned, all purpose

1:29:44

vittles and it's good.

1:29:47

I told you, no greater villain in

1:29:49

the West.

1:29:51

She's flanked by these these two men

1:29:53

who are holding cans of this stuff with forks

1:29:56

in it. And she's like, they both

1:29:57

sort of take.

1:29:58

take bites of this stuff

1:30:00

and they're like, give her a giver

1:30:03

of chocolate. But they

1:30:05

start doubling over. They're not listening good.

1:30:08

This is just rehearsal, though, isn't it? They're like rehearsing

1:30:10

for a big day. Maybe if I get her attention,

1:30:13

you guys sneak into the room.

1:30:15

Yeah, I'll kind of wait for

1:30:18

these two kind of like filter out into the room and

1:30:20

then I'll kind of make my presence

1:30:22

known. I'll eat some more

1:30:24

of it. Come on, it's good. It's good. Hey,

1:30:28

Aunt Hildy,

1:30:29

I'd say it's bad.

1:30:32

Well, look who it is, Bison Billy.

1:30:35

You come back to get your other leg wrecked, you POS.

1:30:38

She shouts.

1:30:42

OK. What are you doing in here, Bison

1:30:44

Billy?

1:30:46

I have come to enact some revenge.

1:30:49

You took my leg away from me. Yeah, you

1:30:51

weren't using it. I was building up the Wrestle 2, Bison.

1:30:54

Hildy, you had something to do with it. You're a dinosaur,

1:30:57

Bison Billy. Out here, we're trying

1:30:59

to look to the future. I have solved world

1:31:01

hunger here. This product, it

1:31:03

will solve famine worldwide.

1:31:06

It's cheap, mass-producible,

1:31:08

never goes off. And it

1:31:10

has some side effects, she says. And as she's saying,

1:31:12

this is the two men who have eaten

1:31:14

some of it. They start to sort of... They

1:31:17

have doubled over in pain and

1:31:19

they're starting to sort of convulse on the floor.

1:31:21

Yes, there are some issues, she

1:31:24

says.

1:31:26

The men's fingernails start to recede. They

1:31:28

sort of pull back from their mouths. They're

1:31:31

not looking great, to be honest. But

1:31:34

it is a process of moving into

1:31:36

the future, you dinosaur! Hey,

1:31:39

Ed Hildy. Do you feel super confident

1:31:42

about your odds being locked in a room with

1:31:44

a dinosaur? What do you mean by that,

1:31:46

Bison Billy?

1:31:47

You want to do this? You want to go? The

1:31:50

temptation to roll like a D-Rex now. LAUGHTER

1:31:56

Aunt Hildy, she sort of gestures

1:31:58

to the two men in

1:31:59

the room.

1:31:59

suits have now sort of they burst through these

1:32:02

suits

1:32:03

and they they stand up and they

1:32:06

they are sort of twisted and emaciated

1:32:08

now their limbs seem longer their fingernails

1:32:10

seem to have kind of formed points

1:32:13

their teeth have like receded their

1:32:15

gums have receded that kind of showing their teeth

1:32:18

and she sort of gestures

1:32:20

to them and then she points at you and these two

1:32:22

creatures are going to start running towards you

1:32:25

this is the rehearsal damn

1:32:27

yeah it's more necessary

1:32:29

than i thought she must be trying to iron out this side

1:32:32

effect in the next round

1:32:33

she's

1:32:34

got a couple hours to figure this out um

1:32:37

okay so yeah i'm gonna deal i'm gonna deal

1:32:39

you and these two guys in okay hey

1:32:42

two for you bison billy that's

1:32:44

fine i'm not even

1:32:46

concerned ten for i'm

1:32:48

a little more concerned jessop and a five for

1:32:51

wexler

1:32:52

truly the nastiest sounding duo

1:32:54

i think jessop and wexler are

1:32:56

clearly wrongans we can hear that things

1:32:59

are kicking off yeah

1:33:01

i mean i don't know if we have line of sight on each other

1:33:03

we've sort of filtered in to this auditorium right

1:33:05

you were saying we were

1:33:06

like there's like a mezzanine does that mean like

1:33:08

we're kind of like we can

1:33:09

go above the stage it's not a high mezzanine

1:33:11

it's just sort of half of it half of it so

1:33:14

you're like a musical kind of fight um

1:33:16

okay

1:33:17

but does that mean like we can be sort of like looking

1:33:20

down

1:33:20

on the stage from the side bar is

1:33:22

it like you can yeah you can be slightly elevated

1:33:24

but not like not like way yeah

1:33:27

okay um but we can hear like

1:33:30

things are kicking off yeah yeah

1:33:32

yeah deal me in okay yeah okay

1:33:35

all right

1:33:37

so lacey with a four uh

1:33:40

oh yeah that

1:33:52

means everyone gets benny and

1:33:59

you can get plus two to your role of this round.

1:34:01

Yeah! Woo!

1:34:03

Nice. Okay, but before we do anything, the

1:34:05

people who can see the Famineites, I want

1:34:07

you to all- The what? Roll on the fear table.

1:34:09

Do me a fear roll. Oh! That's a spirit

1:34:11

roll. Well, if we're popping up, that includes

1:34:14

us, doesn't it? Yeah. We've

1:34:16

surely had a look. Spirit,

1:34:18

is it? Mm-hmm. Oh, I can re-roll,

1:34:20

though. Thank God, because I got guts. That

1:34:22

was a terrible roll. So you succeeded

1:34:24

on the fear- Okay, good.

1:34:27

I'll double-check whether I can only use

1:34:29

my re-roll once for

1:34:31

my thing. Yeah, it seems

1:34:33

so. Yeah? I'm just gonna

1:34:35

re-roll. Well.

1:34:36

Bail! It'll be fun, though. You've got

1:34:38

two bennies.

1:34:40

Oh, I've got, yeah, I've got bennies again. I forgot that. I'm

1:34:43

just

1:34:43

having a wet roll. I'm having a wet roll. You've got

1:34:45

one more benny. We'll just be there.

1:34:48

Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Roll

1:34:50

on the fear table. Because I'm having

1:34:52

a fear table. Fear table. Fear

1:34:54

table. Fear table. Wait, why are we encouraging-

1:34:57

Remind me, if I'm scared, if

1:34:59

I get fear, Mm-hmm. what's

1:35:01

my detriment then? It depends what you roll

1:35:03

on the fear table.

1:35:05

You'll roll the d20. Oh!

1:35:08

And then based on the number that you get, you'll have one of these

1:35:10

wonderful effects. So we've rolled a d20,

1:35:12

yeah.

1:35:14

Oh, yes. Okay, great. All

1:35:16

right. Everyone sees these

1:35:18

horrifying creatures, but

1:35:21

you steal your resolve. Mm-hmm. All

1:35:23

right, so let me note down. Even when you're teetering

1:35:25

on the edge there, like, Mm-hmm. No, no, no,

1:35:28

no. I think that the wound's getting to her, so

1:35:30

she's a little bit like, oh,

1:35:32

oh, god. Oh, yeah, don't forget

1:35:35

that

1:35:36

you do have wound penalties unless you've got anything that

1:35:39

removes that. I have wound penalties. Yeah,

1:35:42

so

1:35:42

you need to check what that is. So, actually.

1:35:45

Okay. Each wound is

1:35:47

minus one. Okay, minus one. Yeah, get

1:35:49

a minus one penalty on your check. So you'll be plus

1:35:52

one. You'll

1:35:52

be plus one, and so this round. Okay.

1:35:55

Okay. My fear will be with the Joker. Mm-hmm.

1:35:58

Okay, so that's a four. That

1:36:01

is six, but I take minus one for the

1:36:03

penalty for my wound. So

1:36:05

that's five. Yep. You've asked,

1:36:07

you don't need to roll into

1:36:08

the air table. I'm closing the

1:36:10

air table for now. Okay,

1:36:14

so up first is Delacey. Okay,

1:36:17

this room has got a mezzanine kind

1:36:19

of dance hall-y. It's quite grand. Quite

1:36:21

well lit. Yeah, it's a big well-lit auditorium.

1:36:24

I would like to shoot the rope securing the

1:36:26

chandelier above on hill. The

1:36:30

chandelier? The chandelier

1:36:32

above, yeah. I don't think that we

1:36:34

established there was a chandelier. Yeah, but we established

1:36:37

it's a grand room that's well lit. How else would that be achieved? An

1:36:39

incandescent electric light bulb. This

1:36:42

is the auditorium of the future, young man. We

1:36:44

don't rely on such old-fashioned

1:36:46

motions of chandeliers. Can I look at, yeah. So

1:36:49

the stage, is there anything above on hill that

1:36:51

you like up there? No, it's a big open stage

1:36:53

with a sort of double-high ceiling. There are

1:36:56

curtains behind her. She's

1:36:58

a lectern, but... Alright,

1:37:00

then I'll settle for shooting her

1:37:02

in the back of the path. Plan it. Fine,

1:37:06

fine. Do me a shooting

1:37:08

roll. Okay, there was a range penalty, wasn't

1:37:10

there? Applying to this. Well, you came

1:37:12

in from the left, so you are closer to the stage than

1:37:15

anyone who went. Right. Can

1:37:17

you only spend bennies when you fail? Or can

1:37:19

you spend a penny if you want to try and improve? Yeah,

1:37:21

you can, it's just a re-roll if you want to re-roll

1:37:23

for anybody's... Alright, yeah. Pop

1:37:26

out, shoot on hill. Yeah, she was

1:37:28

shooting my play, the objective. Cool.

1:37:31

That's a 9. And I settled for 9. I

1:37:34

settled for 9. I've just got a lot

1:37:36

of bennies and you don't get... Yeah, that's nice. All

1:37:39

you need to do is succeed on this roll. Yeah,

1:37:42

settle, yes, but next I'm going to roll damage,

1:37:44

and if I can explode this, I can add

1:37:46

more G6s to the damage, right?

1:37:50

So that's one raise. Not the, yeah,

1:37:52

the other thing you use bennies for is soaking wounds.

1:37:55

No, that's very important. That

1:37:57

might be very true.

1:37:59

Two, three, four, Benny, I've

1:38:02

got saved up. But I might hold

1:38:04

you down. Alright. Alright. Alright.

1:38:08

Yeah, I'll take the ninth. See ya. Success

1:38:11

with the race, the roll damage. Come

1:38:14

on. Come on. Just ten.

1:38:16

Ten, okay. That

1:38:20

only exceeds her toughness once. So, Hilby

1:38:23

is shaken, but also when

1:38:26

the bullet hits her, suddenly seems to happen.

1:38:29

A change seems

1:38:32

to come over dear Aunt

1:38:34

Hilby. She installs a chateau l'hil. She

1:38:37

installs a chateau l'hil. No,

1:38:40

she sort of seems... The

1:38:43

bullet hits her and she sort of flings her arms back, but

1:38:45

she doesn't

1:38:46

then come back. She sort of stays in that position.

1:38:50

And much like the guys before her, but more

1:38:52

so, her sort of long, spindly

1:38:55

limbs start to twist into new

1:38:57

shapes. And more grotesquely, her

1:38:59

ribcage cracks open, revealing

1:39:02

a second hand inside

1:39:03

her chateau.

1:39:05

It's like a flayed skull

1:39:07

that starts gibbering and cursing and laughing

1:39:09

to itself. Like that. And

1:39:13

you should have gone for center mass. Yeah,

1:39:18

her limbs crack and contort. And

1:39:22

I want everyone to make me a fear check. Minus

1:39:24

two, please. What in

1:39:26

the tarnation? Is

1:39:28

this what you were talking about? Spirit

1:39:30

roll. As this is happening,

1:39:32

she's sort of like twisting an elongated...

1:39:35

She's about nine feet tall at this point. Five.

1:39:42

Seven. This.

1:39:46

This is with a minus two, right? Five.

1:39:50

That is a seven minus two, five in the cake.

1:39:53

So you say you've all passed.

1:39:56

It's not even that scary. The

1:40:00

head is looking at you like this. Yes I

1:40:02

am. Um,

1:40:06

okay, and I'm dealing in Aunt Hildy. With

1:40:08

a queen. Oh! E.D.

1:40:10

of course you get to act whenever you want. You get to joke. You

1:40:13

get to go whenever. Great. Go

1:40:15

down, go down, go down! Okay,

1:40:18

so we just, that was Delacy's turn. Aunt Hildy

1:40:20

is shaken, but now a big

1:40:22

monster. Yeah, I would like to try

1:40:24

and shoot Aunt Hildy. Shoot Aunt Hildy,

1:40:27

okay. Cool. Do

1:40:29

a shooting roll please.

1:40:30

Set her man, set her man!

1:40:33

Okay, that's a five.

1:40:36

Okay, one success. Um, what are you shooting

1:40:38

her with? I'm shooting her with, um,

1:40:40

my winch. Cool. Yep, roll damage.

1:40:43

Two sevens and one

1:40:46

fifteen.

1:40:46

That succeeded at once, but she's shaken

1:40:48

so she takes one wound. Nice.

1:40:52

You shot her in the wrong face! Yeah,

1:40:54

so you, you shot her in the wrong face. That

1:40:56

wasn't a name shot, so it just goes into her chest. Yeah.

1:41:00

Cool. Um, alright, it's Aunt Hildy's

1:41:02

turn. Okay, Aunt Hildy's, um,

1:41:05

top head.

1:41:06

Because she has to. She's

1:41:09

going to just let out this sort

1:41:11

of ear piercing scream. And

1:41:14

I want everyone to make a bigger check. From

1:41:17

this. Bigger's not my

1:41:19

straw

1:41:19

suit. Ooh,

1:41:22

six. Six.

1:41:25

How do I feel this? Did I go like that?

1:41:33

Wow. Is it like minus on

1:41:35

the wing? No, wait, yeah. Yeah. Yeah,

1:41:38

it's okay. So, yep.

1:41:41

I spent many to achieve five. Okay,

1:41:43

succeed. Uh, four. Succeed.

1:41:46

Succeed, okay, cool. Big, 16. Okay,

1:41:49

good, yeah, you're all, you're all okay. This ear, this

1:41:51

is like an ear splitting scream.

1:41:54

Um, and then she's, who's

1:41:56

closest to Aunt Hildy currently? Me,

1:41:59

I think. If I win. Yeah,

1:42:02

but as the crow flies. Yeah. Okay,

1:42:04

she sort of like, I do mention flying. As

1:42:10

the ant kill the coils

1:42:12

and springs towards you with... She

1:42:14

has long claws on the end of her fingers now. She's

1:42:16

going to attack you. That's horrific.

1:42:19

Alright. Bring it. I'm

1:42:21

quick.

1:42:23

Yep, that's a success. Tell me what your parry

1:42:26

is. Do they see? Two. Two.

1:42:29

Oh, of course it is, yeah. Am I readied?

1:42:32

I don't know, are you? Yeah. I

1:42:35

was born readied with it. What

1:42:37

does that mean? That's plus one

1:42:39

to parry. Alright. Parry is three. Three.

1:42:42

Does that move the needle?

1:42:44

A

1:42:47

few dice could still be less than three. Why?

1:42:51

Not as if it's loaded. Okay,

1:42:53

Delacey, you are shaken and you

1:42:55

take one wound. Unless you would

1:42:57

like to try and soak it. How

1:42:59

do you soak it? I've not done that before. Spender Benny. Spender

1:43:02

Benny? Yeah,

1:43:04

okay, I don't want to be fighting at the penalty. And

1:43:08

I won't roll badly again this

1:43:10

session. I've

1:43:13

got two Benis left, it's okay. I

1:43:16

thought you went from like six Benis in like

1:43:18

one lesson around. Yeah. So

1:43:20

you have to make a bigger check. Oh,

1:43:23

but if you succeed, you soak that.

1:43:26

Bigger is bad for me.

1:43:28

Two, one. Can

1:43:31

I spend a Benny on that rule? I guess I can spend

1:43:33

a Benny. Yeah, you can spend it. I think

1:43:35

so. I don't see why not. It's my game. You can do

1:43:37

it if you want.

1:43:39

And the quicker you run out of Benis. What's

1:43:42

the wound penalty? It's like

1:43:44

minus one to all. Normally

1:43:47

it is, except because of my hindrance to

1:43:49

tenderfoot. It's minus

1:43:51

one to all actions. Oh. Minus one to all

1:43:53

actions when wounded.

1:43:54

That's fine.

1:43:56

Yeah. Minus three when with two wounds.

1:43:58

Oh yeah, fine. I'll take it. I'll take it.

1:43:59

You think it wins.

1:44:00

Alright, Edie has one with grim determination, I

1:44:03

guess. So what actually happens to me? She's got the

1:44:05

swipes and gourd horribly. Yeah,

1:44:07

she sort of springs up from the stage towards

1:44:09

the mezzanine balcony where you are and

1:44:11

just sort of clatters into you and

1:44:13

the two of you roll to the floor and she's sort of

1:44:16

clawing and fitting and the

1:44:19

head in her chest is

1:44:20

like meow, meow, meow, meow.

1:44:21

And it's all happening. Okay.

1:44:24

Okay, sure. Good, good

1:44:26

turn. Right, it is now. Jessup's turn.

1:44:28

Oh, I forgot about them. Jessup

1:44:30

and

1:44:31

Weyclers. They're coming at you.

1:44:32

Alright, cool. Yeah, Jessup is going

1:44:35

to run at you by some billy and attempt to splash

1:44:37

at you with his claws.

1:44:47

I've got an edge which is dodge.

1:44:50

Yeah, okay, so yeah, he manages to

1:44:52

slash you, it shakes you, but

1:44:55

doesn't wound you, but I need you to make me a bigger roll

1:44:57

at minus two. That's easy. Boom, look

1:45:00

at this. Oh boy, there we go. That was two ones.

1:45:02

Wait, that

1:45:02

was two ones? Oh, I forgot

1:45:04

about that. Yeah, thanks for clarifying, sorry. I'm sorry.

1:45:07

Remember the rules?

1:45:08

Okay, so yeah, it slashes you, it doesn't

1:45:10

go too deep and you're like, okay, that wasn't

1:45:14

too bad, but then you start to feel a sort of gnawing

1:45:16

hunger in your stomach. It's

1:45:25

kind of a sandwich. Look, you can feel

1:45:27

it slowly spreading at the moment. It's okay, but

1:45:30

Sam, we'll check in on that next round.

1:45:34

Where's that brown guy?

1:45:37

Where's that brown guy? Whereabouts

1:45:39

was the slash? I'm imagining across the- Across

1:45:41

the chest? Yeah, I think it's top- You can't help

1:45:43

you take that. It's top bin ripped wide open, just

1:45:46

a rippling- Go on. Muddle

1:45:49

showing. Just so, just so one minute. It

1:45:51

is now Wexler's turn. Wexler's

1:45:53

going to be you, you be. So

1:45:56

it's going to be the same deal, same deal.

1:45:59

That'll be also good.

1:46:01

What's your parry? My parry

1:46:03

is four.

1:46:05

Okay, that is... You're not shaking or anything currently,

1:46:08

are you? No. Okay, so that's a success with a raise,

1:46:10

so it also does catch you and causes

1:46:12

a wound, unless you would like to

1:46:14

soak it. Four, two, one. I don't have any bennies

1:46:17

left. You don't have any bennies, that's a wound. Ow!

1:46:20

And also I need you to make me a bigger check as well. You

1:46:22

can't gift bennies, right? Oh

1:46:24

no.

1:46:26

Five. Minus.

1:46:29

Plus. Plus.

1:46:31

Yeah, minus six, six,

1:46:33

minus

1:46:34

two... Oh, six, minus

1:46:37

one. Four. Yes, okay,

1:46:39

so that's a success, yeah. So

1:46:40

the claws pass across you and you get a...

1:46:43

You suddenly feel a little peckish, but it

1:46:45

passes. Okay, cool. I just

1:46:47

really don't want to get into the... Just

1:46:49

forget it. Don't know what that was. Forget? Yeah,

1:46:52

it was a hard thing. Sorry. Okay.

1:46:56

Okay, so that's Swixos now by some

1:46:58

billies then. Mmm. Hungry.

1:47:01

And I've got this creature

1:47:04

in front of me. Would you say

1:47:06

this has taken on a almost animalistic form?

1:47:09

Yeah, it's kind of feral. In its effects.

1:47:13

Cool. Would you? You know

1:47:15

how I swapped those two dice rounds before

1:47:17

the session? Yeah. As a seasoned

1:47:20

cowboy, good at breaking in restless

1:47:23

horses, could I attempt to

1:47:25

ride this creature towards

1:47:28

our hilding? Yeah, why not? A few minutes

1:47:30

from your riding role. Yeehaw!

1:47:36

Eight. Nice

1:47:38

success with a raise. All

1:47:40

right, what are you doing? I think, yeah,

1:47:42

I will... As

1:47:45

it flashes into me, I'll grab hold

1:47:47

of one of the arms and just swing a leg

1:47:50

up onto its back and then literally just grab

1:47:52

hold of its head and kind of pull it round to

1:47:54

the side, sort of pointing it. Pointing

1:47:57

it, yeah. But pointing it like, I'll even

1:47:59

maybe like...

1:47:59

stick my finger like it's like the cheeks.

1:48:02

Like

1:48:02

this, try to kind of steer it towards

1:48:05

Aunt Hildy, sort of direct

1:48:07

its ire. Yeah, Aunt Hildy is currently pinning

1:48:10

Delacey on the balcony, so you can go up and around.

1:48:13

Yeah. And just the most direct route, I

1:48:15

figure, you know, if we have to jump off or

1:48:17

whatever then. Yeah, all right, so you're trying to sort of basically

1:48:20

batter this thing into Aunt Hildy. Yeah.

1:48:23

Okay, what would that be?

1:48:24

Let's... Well, I mean, yeah,

1:48:26

let's just say... This is going to happen

1:48:29

because you passed the riding roll. So let's just call it

1:48:31

a fighting roll. A fighting roll. So the

1:48:33

guy is your weapon now. Yes. Yes,

1:48:37

for the 10. Yay! Uh, 6.

1:48:40

So 16. Yeah, well, yeah,

1:48:42

okay, so roll. Yee-haw!

1:48:48

I got me a strange

1:48:48

one! Easy

1:48:52

boy! All right, yes, so strength plus

1:48:54

3d6. Oof. Can

1:48:56

I grab two more d6? Mm-hmm. Yes,

1:48:58

please do. Uh, 2...

1:49:04

So 16, 20. Did

1:49:07

the 10 explode? Yes. You roll

1:49:09

that again. Gladly. Uh, 1.

1:49:12

Okay, so we'll get a... Yeah,

1:49:15

that's... So that's success. And

1:49:18

wounds on that. So yeah,

1:49:21

you've basically... Aunt Hildy is

1:49:23

pinning Delacey to the ground and clawing and slashing

1:49:26

and the head is like... I'm coming for you, boy! Out

1:49:28

of nowhere, just slams into the side of it

1:49:30

is Bison Billy rodeoing... Was

1:49:34

it Jessup or Wexler? I think it

1:49:36

was Wexler. I think it was Jessup. Rodeoing

1:49:38

Wexler slams into Aunt Hildy who

1:49:40

goes clattering against the back wall and

1:49:43

sort of like hits it hard and sort

1:49:45

of like rises to one knee and it just like hisses.

1:49:47

I was like, hey, you haven't got to live there, have you? No,

1:49:51

yeah, and you get actually like bent out of

1:49:53

shape and she shoots you a venomous glance. Yeah,

1:49:55

yeah. It's not actually venomous, is it? Yeah,

1:49:58

you're... Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah I take

1:50:00

poison, damage. Okay let's reroll,

1:50:03

re-deal here. So, Bison Billy. Seven.

1:50:06

And improvement.

1:50:09

Not great, but I'll take it. Beauty

1:50:12

with the Jack.

1:50:13

Yes, I will do.

1:50:16

And I take a five plus two. Watch

1:50:18

out, Kurt! And I do a six. One,

1:50:21

two, excuse that again on Wexler. Five

1:50:23

or lower. And... That's

1:50:26

really nice. Yes, the worst

1:50:28

one you could have done. Jess up

1:50:30

with the Jack.

1:50:32

And Hilby with the seven. Edie,

1:50:34

you're going first. Okay, um...

1:50:38

Well, if I take one more wound,

1:50:40

then I'm out. So, I don't

1:50:42

know whether to try and heal

1:50:47

myself or something. Or

1:50:50

what do I do? Do I hide myself out of... Is,

1:50:54

uh... For the start of this round, Bison Billy, you've... Look

1:50:57

at your fingernails and start to see the skin.

1:51:00

It just ever so slightly starts to recede. Your

1:51:04

gums fall back a little and the hunger's really starting

1:51:07

to gnaw at you. The Hilda's looking

1:51:09

real tasty right now. Okay,

1:51:13

so I've got a little bit of breathing room.

1:51:15

But, uh... Right. Um...

1:51:19

Well, I see... Hilda's,

1:51:23

like, going... Hilda's just on, like...

1:51:26

Trying to get Delacey. And I'm like,

1:51:29

no, must protect the small boy. Um...

1:51:32

Oh, that's cool. Yeah,

1:51:34

well, like, little bit of, uh... Backstory.

1:51:37

Edie lost her

1:51:39

little brother to a monster. And she's...

1:51:41

Seeing this happening again. And

1:51:44

she's like, nuh-uh! So,

1:51:46

yeah, she's gonna... It definitely works most

1:51:48

closely, I think, to... Wait,

1:51:51

oh... Because I rode... Oh! Over.

1:51:54

I can hit Hilda away. Just so that

1:51:57

you know that, like, Wex is the closest monster. Okay.

1:51:59

So she's doing way for too

1:52:03

close to the lady for her liking. She's like

1:52:05

nah, nah, nah. So I'd like

1:52:07

her to run up and try

1:52:10

and

1:52:10

shoot him. She's

1:52:12

shooting way for her. Yeah. Okay, cool.

1:52:14

Yeah, do a shooting one. Come

1:52:22

on. Two, so

1:52:24

that is eight. That's for the raise. All right, roll

1:52:26

damage.

1:52:28

Okay, so 11. Yeah,

1:52:32

so yeah, you blast him with your

1:52:34

sort of Winchester and he just,

1:52:36

yeah, gigantic, he basically takes

1:52:38

off most of the left-hand side of his body and

1:52:40

he just sort of... Indeed.

1:52:41

And hits the deck. So Wexler is

1:52:43

done.

1:52:47

And Wexler is passed out.

1:52:49

Wexler is out. Wexler

1:52:51

is dead.

1:52:53

All right, next on the initiative. Right,

1:52:56

so...

1:52:58

Jess is wall attacking.

1:53:00

Wall attacking, Edie. You're on the floor, so

1:53:02

probably going to try and jump on you. And

1:53:05

try it. What

1:53:08

are you doing? Don't encourage it. You

1:53:11

are not in a position to encourage it. Oh,

1:53:13

okay. So yeah, he basically leaps

1:53:16

at you and sails over.

1:53:18

Yes,

1:53:20

absolutely missed it. Good job, Jess. Nice work.

1:53:22

All right, who was next? I'll

1:53:24

make the obscene gesture. Bye,

1:53:28

Sivilly. Okay. Potentially

1:53:31

a bit of a bold move for here, so this is impossible. I

1:53:35

think like feeling the hunger

1:53:37

rising in him and kind of twigging what's happening,

1:53:40

and that this might be a untenable

1:53:43

situation for him. He is going

1:53:46

to... I would love to try and run up to

1:53:48

Aunt Hildy and

1:53:50

locate a ring

1:53:53

on her hand. And

1:53:55

I would like to try and bite that finger off.

1:53:58

Okay, sure. Yeah, that's...

1:53:59

I'm just feeling this new, like,

1:54:03

leading into the hunger a little bit, seeing if it all... Yeah.

1:54:05

...aves me and... That sounds like a strength

1:54:07

role to me. Cool. Probably a good idea to give

1:54:10

in to this new hunger. Yeah! Yeah! Ahh!

1:54:14

That's exploded again. Great. Actually,

1:54:16

they both exploded. Mm-hmm. Uh, I

1:54:18

guess I'll just roll the detail again, though, if that makes sense. What?!

1:54:21

Ahh! Ahh! Uh... Ahh!

1:54:25

Ahh! Ahh! Yeah, okay. Right.

1:54:29

You're really hungry, though. Yeah, perfect! Yeah,

1:54:32

I'm gonna say this. Yeah, you fight the finger, but

1:54:34

you also just start biting her. Yeah. Um,

1:54:37

so I want you to roll me

1:54:38

damage for your teeth. But because that was

1:54:40

a... What?

1:54:43

A success with five raises. Alright, um... Yeah,

1:54:45

roll me... Just

1:54:47

roll me five D6. Five D6, okay.

1:54:50

With the detail, or just...?

1:54:51

Um, yeah, okay, one D10 and

1:54:53

four D6.

1:54:54

And four D6. Uh... Okay. Perfect.

1:54:58

Uh... Yeah. So,

1:55:00

Unhildy was already shaken. Um... So,

1:55:03

yeah, this will do it. Um, so, yeah.

1:55:06

Do you want to describe what makes

1:55:08

you fall upon her bite? Yes. So, yeah, I think

1:55:10

basically, like... Uh... In

1:55:12

the same way that, like, we've seen Bison really,

1:55:14

like, charge a little bit, like, this big hulking

1:55:17

form charge. Mm-hmm. I think, as he starts

1:55:19

to run across the stage, he kind of gets, like, lower

1:55:21

and lower into more of a, like... Like

1:55:23

a... Almost like a gallop. Uh-huh.

1:55:25

Gets over to her, just... Like, starts to bite

1:55:27

at the, like, the hand, and, like, kind of gets,

1:55:30

like, down to the forearm before he sort of stops

1:55:32

and realizes. And then I think I just turn

1:55:35

back to you two with, like, blood

1:55:37

pouring down his mouth. And I spit

1:55:39

the ring out across the stage, and I go... Puh!

1:55:43

Get outta here! Puh! Puh! And

1:55:46

I turn back to Unhildy and just, like, start going

1:55:49

crazy. Start going bug world on Unhildy. Um,

1:55:51

yeah, so, like, massive gouts of blood are

1:55:53

coming out. The head in the chest is getting... Blah blah

1:55:56

blah. The point sort of seems to be drowning

1:55:58

in its own blood. Uh... It's

1:56:00

just a real gore firework

1:56:02

show. We'll move on to that big broccoli. Yeah! That

1:56:04

was funny! And

1:56:07

now the second him is drowning in mud.

1:56:11

Yeah, so on Hildy, she

1:56:14

had died.

1:56:16

Jessup stops in

1:56:18

his tracks. And is just like, he seems to

1:56:20

return to normal. And Bison

1:56:23

Bill, you feel the hunger sort of recede from

1:56:25

him. Oh,

1:56:28

are you done? Oh,

1:56:30

thank you! Man, I was... I

1:56:32

was ready to do a cheerful goodbye

1:56:35

and shut the door. I

1:56:37

was ready to walk up and execute. Oh, wow! Yeah,

1:56:42

how obvious is the transformation back? Delacy

1:56:45

solemnly walks up behind Bison Bill. And

1:56:48

you just feel the hunger sort of gradually dissipate.

1:56:51

And it's... I quickly

1:56:53

put my revolver behind my back. What revolver?

1:56:57

Oh, what did I... Oh, hey!

1:57:01

Oh, okay. Hey, son, what are

1:57:03

you doing?

1:57:04

Hey, Billy!

1:57:05

You

1:57:08

feeling good? Yeah, I think

1:57:10

I got some femur in my teeth. Jessup

1:57:13

is like, I think we might need a few more... Goes

1:57:16

back to the drawing board on the food. Aren't

1:57:19

Hildy? Aren't Hildy? I

1:57:23

might run aga... How bad

1:57:25

I killed the other one! I'll

1:57:28

tell you what, Jessup, you got a new sheriff in town

1:57:30

now.

1:57:31

Okay. That's right.

1:57:33

First thing we're gonna do, we're gonna get rid of all this food. Okay,

1:57:36

okay, sir.

1:57:38

You're in charge now. I'll tell you what, I can't

1:57:40

believe that worked. He just gave me it. Who is

1:57:42

it? Okay. He's

1:57:45

pretty messed up. Yeah, that's better. Yeah,

1:57:48

so you have the ring. Aren't

1:57:51

Hildy his dead?

1:57:52

And Billy has achieved revenge

1:57:56

for his slight attack. And it tasted real

1:57:58

good. And

1:58:01

another successful mission, congratulations! Thank

1:58:05

you so

That was

1:59:03

Oxenanted Deadlands. More wonders than

1:59:05

there are in Heaven's Pot 2.

1:59:08

There will be no more pots. That's

1:59:10

right. The next episode is just

1:59:12

a finale all in one. I

1:59:15

can't believe. It's here so soon!

1:59:16

Yeah. So that's the final target,

1:59:18

dealt with. Aunt Hildy

1:59:22

has taken care of. Thanks to

1:59:24

Bison Billy and his amazing...

1:59:26

Legend. Steer wrestling

1:59:28

techniques. Yeah, another round of

1:59:31

applause really for Jasper. What a

1:59:33

great guest performance. Yes please,

1:59:35

take a moment to clap wherever you are. Fit

1:59:38

right in, got the vibe

1:59:40

immediately, great improviser, great performer.

1:59:43

Great costume. Great costume, great character.

1:59:45

What a shirt. Yeah. Yeah,

1:59:47

actually we can... So the shirt is...

1:59:50

Jasper was originally supposed to be guesting on

1:59:52

an episode of D&D, Oxentia, previously.

1:59:55

Oh yeah! It's something... I

1:59:57

can't remember what happened. It was like a scheduling issue

1:59:59

or something.

1:59:59

and then we

2:00:02

couldn't do it then. But we bought

2:00:04

the shirt for Jasper to wear during the

2:00:06

D&D session. Oh, is that where it's from?

2:00:08

I do not realise. But then

2:00:11

when we came up with this character, we were like, actually, this shirt

2:00:13

still really fits because it's a kind of florid,

2:00:16

like, sort of theatrical.

2:00:18

Really theatrical shirt. So this totally worked.

2:00:20

I tell you what, it was we were going to do D&D, but then

2:00:22

we ended up not being able to do it. So Jasper

2:00:24

guested on a couple of one shots instead of a D&D. Oh,

2:00:27

yes. He's an adventure skeletons and you're

2:00:29

waking in a strange place. Correct. Yes. So,

2:00:33

yeah, the shirt was just sort of

2:00:35

just just there in play. And then we

2:00:37

were like, yes, pair this with the cowboy hat. And we have basically

2:00:40

the ideal Wild West showman outfit. It's great.

2:00:42

Oh, man. Yeah, great. Great work from Jasper.

2:00:44

Really enjoyed that.

2:00:46

And yeah, this is just, I think,

2:00:48

a really cool, really fun

2:00:50

setting, like a sandbox

2:00:52

for people to adventure around in. Like

2:00:55

it's basically old

2:00:57

timey Epcot around a sort of a lake with

2:00:59

all these different pavilions. Let's know what could

2:01:01

be better. What could be better? I had I had like

2:01:04

all the other pavilions planned out because

2:01:06

I was like, they're either going to go across the lake,

2:01:09

which is the quickest way. But it's, you know, it could

2:01:12

be really, you know, boating is

2:01:14

a skill in Deadlands and none of them had it.

2:01:16

And they're like, pick boating as a skill

2:01:19

in their weird west. Exactly.

2:01:22

That's why it's a risk, isn't it? No, I

2:01:24

mean, you actually you knew what skills

2:01:26

everyone has. So you knew no one had

2:01:28

boating. OK, fine. Yeah.

2:01:30

But also like if they wanted to go around

2:01:32

the perimeter, it's longer and it's

2:01:34

being patrolled by guards. So, you know, those are the

2:01:36

those are the things you have to weigh up. It's like, which way do you want to go? They

2:01:39

went across the lake, but if they hadn't, there were all these different pavilions

2:01:42

that they would have gone past. They'd have been able to go into them and

2:01:44

sort of investigate and things like that if they

2:01:46

wanted to. So make sure that was all planned

2:01:48

out. Load of planning completely out the window.

2:01:50

That's fine. Maybe

2:01:51

you can repurpose it. Maybe maybe

2:01:53

we can, I don't know,

2:01:55

go back there. Yeah, maybe, maybe.

2:01:57

Maybe the Oxford D&D

2:01:59

here. can fall through some kind of wormhole.

2:02:02

Yeah, or go to a land in the Chicago World Fair.

2:02:05

Or they can go to a guest world fair which is suspiciously

2:02:08

similar to the Chicago one. Yeah, or

2:02:10

the signage looks suspiciously painted over.

2:02:12

Yeah, yeah. Um,

2:02:14

yeah, the, uh,

2:02:15

the sort of

2:02:19

centre point for this episode was the, um,

2:02:21

the America round of nutrition boss fights,

2:02:24

which

2:02:26

went really well from my perspective. I really enjoyed

2:02:28

it. I thought it was really fun.

2:02:30

I like when I was planning this

2:02:33

session, I think like music is so important

2:02:35

to the sort of the tone

2:02:38

and also just like the creative process. If you're

2:02:40

listening to the right music, when you're thinking about stuff, it helps

2:02:42

kind of spark your imagination.

2:02:44

I found this, um, obviously

2:02:47

Luke wrote a lot of excellent music. Some of the

2:02:49

stuff you'll hear is Luke's original compositions, which

2:02:51

I don't think we've given him a shout out for yet, which we

2:02:53

should. Oh, wow. No, we haven't. Like

2:02:56

a lot of the sort of ambient music,

2:02:58

um, the action music and stuff is all, is

2:03:00

all Luke. So, you know, kudos to Luke.

2:03:03

He posted on his Instagram. Uh,

2:03:05

if you want to go and check that out, he's got some of the original tricks.

2:03:08

In fact, yeah, all the original tricks you composed

2:03:10

for Deadlands are over there. So go and listen to them. You

2:03:13

should put them on somewhere else as well. YouTube

2:03:15

or something. Yeah.

2:03:16

Okay. Um, but yeah, that was supplemented with,

2:03:18

um, like library music,

2:03:20

but I was, I chose, um, specifically

2:03:23

for certain moments. And I found this, it's

2:03:25

a track on audio network called battle scar,

2:03:27

but scar is SKA.

2:03:29

Uh, it's like a sort of trumpets

2:03:32

and like, uh, scar

2:03:35

guitars and drums and stuff. And it's

2:03:37

quite incongruous for a wild west

2:03:40

thing, but it was just in my mind, it was like the

2:03:42

exact perfect music to fight a load of animatronic

2:03:44

vegetables to. So it

2:03:46

was the kind of like,

2:03:49

the whole thing is based on the carousel of progress, um,

2:03:51

which is a ride at

2:03:54

Disney. It's only at Disney world now, um, in Florida.

2:03:57

So yeah, the carousel of progress was originally

2:03:59

made. by Disney for the 1964

2:04:02

New York World's Fair and

2:04:04

it's the way it works is it's like how

2:04:06

I describe it in the in

2:04:09

the episode it's basically

2:04:11

the audience are static and

2:04:13

there's a scene in front of them with animatronics

2:04:16

that plays out of a guy in the Victorian

2:04:18

era talking about all the technology

2:04:20

that they have here in the Victorian era he's like

2:04:22

I can't imagine things could ever get better than this

2:04:24

and then the stage like rotates the audience

2:04:27

stay in the same position

2:04:29

the stage moves around to a new kind

2:04:32

of backdrop and it sort of progressed like 50 years

2:04:35

and he's talking about how great things are in the early 1900s and

2:04:37

all this stuff so

2:04:40

I thought having been on the Carousel of Progress it's

2:04:42

a kind of not a very good ride Luke

2:04:45

is a massive fan of it and Luke and I were in Disney

2:04:47

World and he was like I mean it's hardly a ride at all

2:04:49

you don't ride anywhere but it's

2:04:52

got such kind of like slightly

2:04:54

rubbish energy it's not been updated

2:04:56

since the late 90s it's sort of presenting what

2:04:59

will life be like in the year 2004

2:05:01

in that that kind of stuff it so it is you can enjoy

2:05:03

it ironically Luke is a massive fan and he dragged me on

2:05:05

it but I thought it was a

2:05:08

really fun setup for a boss fight

2:05:10

in if all the animatronics are

2:05:12

trying to kill you and then once you've killed them all the

2:05:14

stage like locks and rotates around

2:05:16

and then you've got a whole new set of enemies to fight yeah

2:05:20

and just to get that kind of manic five

2:05:22

nights at Freddy's theme park animatronic

2:05:25

kind of energy this bit of music

2:05:27

really kind of sold that in my mind

2:05:30

so I was really

2:05:31

that piece of music again so people could seek it out

2:05:33

and listen to it maybe

2:05:34

yeah it's called battle scar okay yeah

2:05:36

it's really fun

2:05:39

well

2:05:40

what else were you listening to

2:05:42

while creating this campaign

2:05:45

a lot

2:05:46

of like

2:05:48

well like Western music of course but

2:05:51

also like

2:05:52

John Carpenter has he's

2:05:55

put out a bunch of albums of record lost

2:05:57

themes so they're like theme

2:05:59

song

2:05:59

to films that don't exist. Ah,

2:06:02

cool, yeah. Composed

2:06:04

by John Carpenter and all that kind of

2:06:07

woozy 80s synths that I really enjoy.

2:06:10

So I was listening to a lot of that.

2:06:12

I like a lot of folk music as well, like dark

2:06:14

folk music with like

2:06:17

sparse guitars and banjos and things. The

2:06:21

Red Dead soundtrack are actually, they're really

2:06:23

good for that. The Red Dead 2 soundtrack

2:06:25

has some sort of

2:06:26

original songs but also, I think

2:06:28

there's some like Woody Guthrie on the first

2:06:33

Red Dead

2:06:35

soundtrack.

2:06:36

And yeah, it's like a lot of

2:06:39

those kinds of pieces of music which I really like.

2:06:42

Yeah, but I find like music to

2:06:44

be a really important part of that

2:06:46

process, like listening to that while you're thinking

2:06:48

up scenarios. Really helps

2:06:51

influence kind of where your mind goes.

2:06:53

And Andy is very particular about the music

2:06:55

that ends up in the edits, in

2:06:58

the videos, that is to say. So

2:07:00

if you're watching an episode of Oxventure

2:07:02

Deadlands, you should know that Andy probably

2:07:04

had some say in the music that's going

2:07:07

on.

2:07:07

Yeah, it's between Luke and I. Obviously,

2:07:10

Luke's original compositions are very important

2:07:12

as well. Between the two of

2:07:14

us, I think we've

2:07:17

basically

2:07:18

struck the right musical tone throughout, I think.

2:07:21

Now obviously we have

2:07:22

played and also premiered the finale

2:07:25

of Oxventure Deadlands at

2:07:27

youtube.com slash Oxventure. It

2:07:31

still feels really fresh in memory. In

2:07:33

fact, it is because it was like two weeks ago

2:07:35

that it went up. How

2:07:36

are you feeling

2:07:39

about listening to the finale

2:07:41

next week on the podcast? Yeah, I'm excited

2:07:43

to see what people think. You

2:07:46

know, obviously the story gets

2:07:49

wrapped up. We kind of tie everything together

2:07:51

and there's

2:07:53

some interesting stuff in there. I'll

2:07:56

be interested to hear what people think. The reaction on YouTube

2:07:58

has been pretty good. I've been pleased with how it's been received

2:08:01

because you never know until people see

2:08:03

it how it's going to go down if people, you know,

2:08:06

be satisfied with the ending or be like, oh, that

2:08:08

kind of wasn't what I was hoping for or expecting. But

2:08:10

it seems to have gone down well, which is, you

2:08:12

know, gratifying. I

2:08:14

did spend quite a lot of time on the story.

2:08:16

So I'm glad that people didn't hate it. And endings

2:08:18

are hard, right? When you were coming up with

2:08:21

the kind of finale episode, endings are difficult.

2:08:23

But then, having played it, it felt

2:08:26

like you had a structure in mind to at least you knew where

2:08:28

it was heading.

2:08:29

Yeah, that helps. I think like having a strict

2:08:33

structure. There's the so

2:08:35

the kind of the constant tension in DMing

2:08:38

something is between structure

2:08:41

and freedom, right? It's like, those

2:08:44

are the two ends of the

2:08:46

of the axis. So

2:08:48

you give players total freedom, and you've

2:08:51

not really got much structure, you impose

2:08:53

a really strong structure and players don't

2:08:55

really have much freedom. So you need to try and find

2:08:57

the point where it

2:08:59

works in both ways, the players feel like

2:09:02

they've got the freedom and agency to explore

2:09:04

and do what they want. But also, the

2:09:06

story

2:09:09

develops in a way that's kind of narratively

2:09:11

and structurally satisfying. And

2:09:13

I did, you know, as it's my

2:09:15

it's my first time DMing, I

2:09:17

think you get better at dealing with the

2:09:20

unexpected as you as you do it more.

2:09:23

So, you know, if I if

2:09:25

I had a criticism of how I were running

2:09:27

things, it's probably I wasn't

2:09:30

as prepared for people to do things I

2:09:32

wasn't expecting. But hopefully I was able to roll

2:09:34

with it enough that it still felt like you

2:09:36

were all

2:09:37

doing stuff that you wanted to do, and you weren't feeling too

2:09:40

like railroaded. Certainly.

2:09:42

Yeah, absolutely. I never thought oh, Andy's

2:09:44

off his rails now. We've

2:09:48

left

2:09:50

the allocated area for playing in. So

2:09:53

too bad. Yeah. Okay,

2:09:55

cool. Well, come back next week to

2:09:57

the Oxford Venture D&D podcast and we'll be listening. to

2:10:00

the finale of Oxfenture Deadlands. Can

2:10:02

you believe it? It's the end of the season and

2:10:04

we'll have a full team,

2:10:07

a full crew session. So

2:10:09

we're all going to be here. And

2:10:13

yeah, also if you're listening to

2:10:15

this, on the day it goes out, we've got a Deadlands

2:10:17

Q&A going up on the Oxfenture YouTube

2:10:19

2:10:21

out a call for questions about

2:10:24

the series, about the players, you

2:10:26

know, about the characters and all that stuff. So yeah,

2:10:29

check that out at youtube.com forward slash Oxfenture if

2:10:31

you want to see a bit of behind the scenes chat about

2:10:33

very important. Or Rose's End. Go check it out. Check out Dimension 20.

Check out Jasper over there. Absolutely killing
