When I was young, me and my mom, I had beefs 17 years

0:02

old, kicked

0:04

out on the streets. FX's Dear

0:06

Mama, a five-part docu-series. My

0:08

name is Tupac Shakur, and my

0:11

mother was a Plaid Panda. Pop

0:13

looked up to

0:14

his mother straight like that. It was my

0:16

responsibility to teach Tupac

0:18

how to survive his reality.

0:21

You all appreciate it. FX's

0:24

Dear Mama premieres April 21st on FX.

0:28

stream on Hulu.

1:07

You're listening to Cobras and Fire,

1:10

a Pantheon podcast. We're

1:12

back baby, but not better than ever. Somebody

1:15

give us a doctor, man. You better

1:17

call me the doctor.

1:19

Feeling okay? Oh,

1:23

I'm floating in the streets I'm

1:27

floating in the

1:29

darkness Somebody

1:33

call me an angel and tell me Give

1:35

me some Oh, I'm floating in

1:38

the darkness Somebody

1:42

give me a darkness Somebody

1:46

give me a

1:48

darkness I'm happy

1:53

I'm all mine I'm

1:55

happy

2:15

Welcome to Cobras and Fire, this is Bocco.

2:18

And this is LC. And this week we

2:20

are adjective free. For 2023. Are

2:24

we gonna go adjective free all year? Are

2:27

we running out? Oh no. Maybe.

2:30

Okay, well tune in next episode to find out

2:32

will the adjective be back. That'll

2:35

be the next alternative nation headline.

2:38

I like that. We'll see who's listening.

2:41

As

2:42

Cobra World reacts to Cobras and

2:44

Fire news about adjective. We'll

2:47

talk more on that in a minute if we get to it. There's so much

2:49

on the banner today. But

2:52

well, hey man, this is our first time talking since we

2:55

hung out and rode down and and

2:58

showed Nashville how cobras and fire parties.

3:02

How is everything at home? You settled in, you hit the

3:04

jet lag over.

3:05

My God, I gotta tell you that I

3:08

think that you summed it up where you said on

3:10

Sunday you've never seen more tired podcasters.

3:14

Fucking Sunday, I think about 9.30 at

3:17

the Kielfest. I saw, I was like, everybody

3:19

just, oh, slunched over. It's like, my God,

3:21

you guys are really lost to your mojo over the last seven

3:24

years of doing this, man. Something

3:27

like that and to that end,

3:29

that's the sign of a good party. You ask me if I've recovered.

3:31

I'm not even sure yet and I'll

3:33

tell you this too and that is that

3:35

I

3:38

was actually fiending, fiending

3:40

for recap episodes and

3:42

things like that and I think they came out quicker

3:44

last time. That's my point to the tiredness. You

3:47

know what I mean? So congrats on

3:49

pumping ours out

3:50

on that Tuesday because I

3:52

guess everything's coming out this week.

3:54

I'm looking forward to that. I know

3:57

Julian Gill got his out and I got through part

3:59

one.

4:00

ones but he does a lot of

4:02

interviews too. If

4:04

you go watch it on YouTube he does a little video recap.

4:07

He walks by our table the night before when it's

4:09

empty and says our show name. A

4:11

little free plug there. Thank you very much Julian,

4:13

English gentleman.

4:17

I went back to work on Wednesday and I

4:19

really like to brag about being able to party

4:22

and kick ass all weekend. I didn't

4:24

realize until Wednesday morning that I was maybe

4:26

a little more tired than I thought. On

4:28

Tuesday, after I uploaded all the YouTube

4:31

shit, I took about an hour and a half nap.

4:34

That's after a full night's sleep, by the way.

4:37

Then I went to bed at like 9.30. I

4:39

got about nine hours more

4:41

sleep. Then I was just dragging

4:44

at work on Wednesday. I really didn't bounce back

4:46

till Thursday, but I think I'm at 100%

4:48

baco right now. Oh,

4:50

good. All right. 100% baco. Back

4:54

in it again. Yeah, man. So you want to kind of break

4:56

this down, or how do you want to do this? Well, let's give

4:58

a quick shout out. Hope everybody enjoyed the March

5:01

Badness this year. And of

5:04

course, the cat's out of the bag. We went with Kiss

5:06

Asylum. Your favorite Kiss

5:08

record of all time, but not mine. Or

5:10

do I have that backwards? Is it my favorite? I don't

5:12

know. Whatever. You go listen to the episode and find

5:15

out. Looking forward, because

5:17

as of recording this, we haven't seen the reaction yet.

5:19

So

5:20

hopefully we stir some shit up with

5:22

the Kiss universe and get called

5:24

some mean names online. All

5:26

I know is that I would do it all again just

5:28

to be able to do that art for the episode.

5:31

What do you think? I love your art for that, man.

5:33

That was amazing. And the thing is, you're like,

5:35

you think you're just fucking around. I'm like, that's brilliant, let's use

5:37

that. Just

5:41

so you know, behind the scenes, there was

5:43

a version one that will come out years later

5:45

as a rare item. Deluxe

5:49

badness box set.

5:50

The Deluxe one, but Baco

5:53

campaigned for him having purple lips for

5:55

the Vikings. Yeah, the funny thing is that like,

5:57

It's not just the Vikings. Purple and black are my f-

6:00

favorite colors. But yeah, you of course thought

6:02

it was more LSD, lead singer disease,

6:04

where I had to be Paul. I was like,

6:06

nah, you can name me where I'm at, just give me the

6:08

purple lips. I

6:11

totally thought that. I'm like, oh, you want to be Paul? Fine.

6:14

Okay. It's a logical

6:16

conclusion, I think. I don't think you're

6:18

terribly out of line. Well,

6:22

let's talk Rockin' Pod a little bit, because

6:24

we haven't really had a chance to just, our episode

6:27

It was just all about the event. But

6:29

we have some, let's share

6:31

our thoughts on it. What do you think? Give a little

6:33

love to Chris and the people organizing the event.

6:36

And then also maybe crap

6:38

on everybody along the way too is what we want to do. Oh,

6:41

well

6:41

that's a good plan. I like that

6:43

plan. Yeah, I mean. Talk

6:45

about you, Alan Tate. Anyway,

6:47

Gary. I'll let you lead on this one. That's

6:50

cool. So it

6:53

is interesting

6:55

to look at things through time.

6:58

And what I mean by that is when you first

7:00

walk into

7:01

this year's Rockin' Pod, it's staggering

7:04

how big the damn place is. That's why

7:06

I just got to give it up. And I

7:08

think we said this in some of our walkthrough videos. There

7:10

was about 70 podcasters there.

7:13

And then there is a whole section. The whole

7:15

expo has grown to the point where there is sections

7:18

of the expo that I didn't even have a chance

7:20

to look through. What I mean by that is that there

7:22

was like the whole, I think it's like emerging artists area.

7:25

I think there were some local bands. There

7:27

were vendors for, I don't

7:30

know, microphones.

7:31

What did you see? Like, wasn't there

7:33

like equipment and- I just remember Big

7:35

Red had a shirt on and then Big Red didn't have a shirt

7:38

on and nobody wanted to tell me what

7:40

happened. Listen to the

7:42

Aaron Camaro part of the show for flushing

7:45

out that, but yeah. I keep forgetting what the hell the call

7:47

is at the- Nashville State Fairgrounds

7:50

there, yeah. I don't remember what the name of

7:52

the building exactly was, but

7:56

I don't know, best guess, 50,000 square

7:58

feet pull shed. just

8:00

a really massive setup. I mean, what,

8:03

the first one was like a banquet hall and

8:07

maybe the size of like a couple double wide

8:09

trailers and this

8:11

one you could probably do a trade show selling

8:13

double wide trailers in it. So, how's

8:15

that? In America we like to measure things

8:18

by anything but measurements, so. Yeah, so this thing

8:20

is about the size of 2000 Maytag washers,

8:22

is what I recall. The whole setup

8:25

was really impressive. Things were, I don't

8:27

know where I'm going here. I'll tell you

8:29

this, I was impressed with not just the

8:32

size of the building, because whatever

8:34

it is, what it is. Use

8:36

a concert analogy. If you don't sell that

8:39

many tickets, you just push the stage halfway up

8:41

the floor. This place, they basically

8:43

had something going on in every square inch other than

8:45

the walking areas. The fact

8:48

that there was that much

8:50

interest between the podcast, the

8:52

bands that were setting up tables

8:54

to talk about these unsigned bands, And then

8:57

the vendor area was obviously,

8:59

the vendor area alone was bigger than the first year

9:02

altogether.

9:03

So, just

9:05

really impressive the way it looked when you

9:07

walked in. I might be still tired from the expo.

9:12

I can't paint a very good picture right now. Well

9:14

Pantheon set up all their podcasts

9:17

in their own little area. We were the only ones with carpet,

9:19

did you notice that?

9:20

We had black carpet. I know,

9:22

and just so you know, that's a luxury

9:25

in the trade show. Yeah, it

9:27

is. No, it was a nice looking booth. I

9:29

did like what a disaster ours ended up looking

9:31

like at the end. For some reason,

9:33

I saw a picture that it put a smile on my face.

9:35

I'm like, that's the way we do it, buddy.

9:39

I did notice that unless somebody was specifically

9:42

invited into the Pantheon podcast

9:44

row, people look a little intimidated by

9:46

the podcaster breathy. Especially if we were

9:48

sitting there, because people

9:50

are always often intimidated by us because they feel we're

9:52

unapproachable. Oh, that is true. Except

9:55

for you, you're a man of the people. Yeah. So

9:59

what you're saying is that.

10:00

I am unapproachable. That is what I'm hearing

10:02

from my conversation. Just so you know. All

10:04

right, well, you can translate that however you

10:06

like. Yeah, OK. But listen,

10:09

here's kind of the setup of the

10:11

weekend. The main event on Friday

10:14

is kind of the whole mixer, and then

10:17

by mixering me and going to the Rare

10:19

Hair Show. So I figured that there's some

10:21

decent anecdotes. Bolinale, old school

10:23

arcade, and then a concert venue in the back. I

10:26

loved that, man. Really cool setup and

10:29

I've made

10:30

my comments about the rare hair flow

10:32

in the past and I thought that was all

10:34

solved this year. I thought it was like there was quick turnovers

10:37

between every three songs that people

10:39

would get

10:42

on stage and do. I don't

10:44

know what your week. I just had fun. I had a

10:46

fun. Yeah, I enjoyed myself that night. It

10:50

was the best rare hair that I've personally

10:53

seen but I was just thinking about that a couple

10:55

days ago. The last couple of times it's

10:58

been at that place that's gone now, I wish I could

11:00

remember the name of it. The Mercy

11:02

Lounge? That could be it. But they had

11:04

that giant balcony outside

11:06

and I know that it would get kind of warm

11:08

in the summertime in there. I spent probably

11:11

half of every other year that we've

11:13

done this out on that balcony basically.

11:16

So maybe I missed some stuff and didn't really pay that much

11:18

attention in the past is all I'm trying to say there. Jesus

11:21

Christ, Baco, get it together. everybody

11:23

there, podcasters, performers,

11:25

everybody was in a quite

11:27

a jovial mood, I would say,

11:30

as far as that. There's this awesome vibe and then

11:32

we took a... Well, hold on, hold on. I

11:34

got to tell you that the...

11:37

I do want to mention that seemed

11:39

to be a show, because I can't remember the last time

11:41

I went to a live performance on a Friday night,

11:44

especially cover songs, and

11:47

I was out of there before 10 o'clock. They

11:49

They seem to cater that exactly to the

11:51

demographic. It was just like, okay, time

11:54

for bed. And yeah,

11:56

people just kind of marched out right about them. I

11:58

think we played a little pinball.

12:00

with Kevin and Robert

12:02

from Inna Baskeria. You

12:04

saw your KISS pinball machine, so you were like all

12:06

in it. I think that was why he booked that venue, was

12:08

the arcade to begin with, and then built it

12:10

from there. I'm surprised I didn't spend more time in there. It

12:13

was just a fun night, and it kind

12:15

of kicked off the vibe for the whole weekend, I would say.

12:17

Yeah, it was cool.

12:18

So we all head back to the hotel and

12:20

kind of wind down, go to bed, and then

12:23

the next day is the expo itself, which

12:25

we already kind of covered at the beginning of all this. So

12:28

we skip ahead to the evening

12:30

entertainment, which is Kielfest 2. That,

12:33

I remember the name of Bowie's in downtown Nashville.

12:35

That was also kind of a cool venue. A

12:39

little

12:40

tighter, I think, than I was expecting, but

12:42

it was larger because it was really packed. I

12:44

guess as a fan, I could probably

12:46

dissect the Kiel and the Ron

12:49

Kielband set list and say, these are things I

12:51

would like better than others. I thought it was a little

12:53

ballad heavy for what I would put together

12:55

for one hour sets. Steeler,

12:58

they only have the one record to go with, so I'm not really sure

13:00

what all you can do with that. But other

13:03

than the PA guys seem to be learning

13:06

on the job or just not there, there

13:09

was

13:10

some obvious shit. Like, you know, I

13:12

think for a couple

13:14

songs, you could hear the echo that you

13:16

would use on your vocals while singing still

13:18

there when he's talking to the audience, and that's

13:20

something you just kill between

13:23

the songs. And then, yeah, the guitar

13:25

solo sometimes popped great and sometimes

13:28

it was like, I hear him playing, but I don't,

13:30

I see him playing, but I don't hear it, you know?

13:33

And it's just very inattentive sound

13:35

guys, so hopefully

13:37

he lost his job and is now homeless. But

13:40

other than that, I had a good time. I can say

13:43

I've been to, you know, of all the concerts I've

13:45

been to, I put this one dead in the middle. Like,

13:47

it was just, it was an enjoyable concert. I

13:50

knew a couple songs. I thought the performance

13:52

was good. I thought the venue was

13:55

solid and everybody seemed to have a good

13:57

time. But then the next day, I mean,

13:59

I'm I know like three or four songs. So I'm saying like

14:01

I ended. It ended oddly. All of a

14:03

sudden just ended. Who knows if it's just the time

14:05

or whatever like that. But it didn't ended end with

14:08

that right to rock song and whatever.

14:10

There maybe were short of a few songs for whatever

14:12

reason. But the next day you

14:14

would think that we went to, I

14:16

think it was equated to Woodstock 99. It's

14:20

the point of disaster. Like did the

14:23

ceiling collapse in the middle of the show? And you

14:25

know like. There was no surfing

14:28

on pieces of plywood. There

14:30

was nothing burning. Yeah, we heard some of that at breakfast

14:32

there. I would just say consider the source.

14:34

I do know

14:36

I talked to at least three people

14:38

that were there that night that before,

14:41

like at the actual expo, were

14:43

just telling me how much they didn't wanna go

14:46

and they think Kiel sucks. And

14:48

then oddly enough, they go to a show

14:50

they don't wanna go to by an artist they think sucks

14:52

and it turns out they didn't enjoy it. So I,

14:56

you know, I mean, I don't think I need to

14:58

attend a Beyonce show to tell you what I'm gonna think of it.

15:00

So. Right. Right. But you would say

15:02

like, like, if you're gonna be, you know, constructive criticism,

15:05

you've seen him multiple times, you would put this maybe...

15:08

Yeah, I'm not gonna blame him for the PA shit because

15:10

once this show starts, there's very little an artist

15:12

can do about that. The set list

15:14

to me, yeah, I think you could have,

15:17

especially the Kiel songs, I

15:19

think you could have definitely pinpointed a little

15:21

more accurately what people who hadn't

15:24

seen keel before would want At

15:27

the same time I'm not you

15:29

know as you know I don't really like to get too

15:31

crazy nitpick and set list There's reasons these things

15:33

are put together the way they are and maybe there's

15:35

somebody out there goes oh my god He played every one

15:38

of my favorite keel songs. There was a lot

15:40

of tucked-in t-shirt keel fans there

15:42

that night So maybe I'm the outlier

15:45

you know what I mean? Yeah, so

15:47

Anyway, yeah, but yeah, I would

15:49

I've definitely seen seen better performances

15:52

by them But having a good properly mixed

15:54

PA is a big part of that So

15:57

I again, I don't know much about the venue.

15:59

It does seem like

16:00

nice place and with the proper setup.

16:02

And I don't know if Ron had his own sound guy. I

16:04

really don't know how that was set up. I haven't really talked

16:06

to him much at all actually since

16:09

the event. I also have to say I like the venue

16:11

because I was paying back all kinds of

16:13

beers I owed to people throughout the

16:16

weekend and my bill,

16:17

quite reasonable. I think there were $5 Coors Lights,

16:20

no problem. Actually, yeah, not too

16:24

bad. I had a good amount of Coors

16:26

Lights there that night as Well, of course lights were flowing

16:28

for Baco all weekend. Oh, yes Now

16:32

Brad from slam fest yes, my wife

16:34

wants to know what I'm supposed

16:36

to do with the 53 koozies

16:38

I have Brad

16:42

was Tossing out fucking

16:45

cans of Miller light with his koozie unit probably the you

16:47

know what that if you think about it That's brilliant. He

16:50

just like yeah, you can have a beer, but you're taking one of these

16:52

fucking advertising. It is yeah I mean,

16:55

I think the actual number of me mine

16:57

was I had four And

17:01

then on Sunday we were leaving about we had to basically

17:03

both had to be at the airport around 330 something

17:06

like that so I had done that interview with

17:08

about vinyl mastering with the the guy

17:10

who actually does vinyl mastering Josh see back up there

17:12

just A couple weeks before the event and of

17:14

course, you know, I once I found out he was in Nashville

17:17

I threw it out there and he was kind enough to host

17:19

us and give us a not just

17:21

a tour, but a demonstration on how vinyls

17:23

cut. And that was super

17:26

interesting. I mean, and the thing

17:28

is, I like how upbeat and

17:30

excited he was. He's like, I never get to talk

17:32

about this. He said that a couple times

17:34

in the show, and he's like, people don't get to see this.

17:36

I could do this all day. But

17:39

yeah, he was gracious with his time.

17:41

There was an engineer recording a local

17:43

band doing some demo stuff. We got to watch a

17:45

little bit of that, which was super cool. Jeremy, I believe

17:47

his name was. He could not have been nicer.

17:50

And yeah, just a really cool venue

17:53

altogether. We took pictures. You

17:55

shot some video, I know. But

17:57

yeah, I had a blast. It doesn't seem like you did too.

18:01

I've never been to a proper recording studio and

18:03

I've definitely never been one that was based

18:06

on, I mean the place is called Welcome to 1979 and

18:09

that's how the whole thing is set up. Like

18:11

it's a time travel as soon as you open the door

18:14

and just a full

18:16

tour of fathers, mothers,

18:20

stampers, like I'm probably getting some of these terms wrong

18:22

but just seeing all the process before the actual,

18:26

it's actually sent out to the factory, how it's

18:28

done. So for me, I equated

18:30

it to, I

18:31

just partied for two days and now I'm going

18:33

to a class. Because it

18:35

was like, you know what I mean? Yeah, very much like college,

18:38

yeah. Yeah, because we actually

18:40

learned something. And I'll just

18:42

give it up for Josh again because we got

18:44

that proper tour. And I thought it was gonna be like, here

18:46

you go guys, and give like a half

18:49

hour of his time or 15 minutes and quickly

18:51

kind of take us through. I think he came off

18:53

on his day off because he just loves his

18:56

craft so much to give us a tour is what

18:58

it seemed like he did. So this was on a Sunday.

19:01

Yeah,

19:01

I thought fascinating. Just being able to see

19:03

that recording studio where you can actually see all the

19:05

booths, like a- Yeah,

19:07

that was a really cool setup. I've never seen anything

19:10

like that. That was-

19:12

So you could, if you were in the vocal booth,

19:14

you could actually see what the guitarist is doing in a different

19:17

room all the way through, through the whole band.

19:19

Line of sight, so. But yeah,

19:22

overall, just a really cool weekend. and

19:24

thanks for Chris and everybody

19:27

involved to make this happen. Yeah,

19:29

you know, we really didn't get a chance, of course, this

19:31

weekend it seems like every year we get less time with

19:34

Chris, because it gets bigger and

19:36

he's got more going on. So Chris, we

19:38

didn't really get a chance to thank you again for everything.

19:41

We've been a part of this ever since

19:42

the beginning. It's super

19:44

cool to watch it grow and

19:47

to feel part of this community. So you did a

19:49

bang up job once again, Chris. Your entire

19:51

staff, If I start naming people,

19:54

I'm going to forget those. I

19:56

will shout out to Tracy because this is the first time

19:58

that I never had a chance to really

20:00

properly. Hey, how are you doing? How are

20:02

things? We talked, I think, either

20:04

the day but I think

20:06

the day the morning of maybe, like

20:09

when we first got there and then I never saw

20:12

her again. You said you saw her moving around. Obviously she

20:14

was there. But I just so

20:16

anyway, kudos to her. But yeah, the entire staff, everybody

20:18

that puts it together. Good to see Chris's brother, Eric

20:20

again, I guess. There's a couple. Yeah. And

20:23

I think Camaro's shoes should have its own podcast.

20:26

It does, by the way. It's already up to 250 episodes.

20:29

Oh, okay. They're really short. Just like Aaron. The

20:36

AI needs some work. I gotcha.

20:38

Hey, go to... And check out Welcome to 1979 on

20:41

Facebook. Give

20:43

them a like, follow their page. They're on Instagram

20:45

too. If you're a grammar like me, you

20:48

can go ahead and give them a follow there as well. It

20:51

was a blast. And if anybody recorded the

20:53

Kiss Exposed live,

20:56

whatever it was, the commentary, I'd like to hear

20:58

it. Well,

21:00

maybe it's part of the pay-per-view. I don't know. I

21:04

don't think it is. Yeah, I will tell

21:06

you, I do have one restaurant-related

21:09

tip for anybody in the Nashville area. You

21:12

know how much I love to rip on how Philly is so

21:14

proud of their easy-to-make sandwich?

21:17

And like anybody, if you don't get it, then it's

21:19

not this. In order like that it's just not true

21:21

Philly sandwich. Well I'll tell you this,

21:23

do not get the Philly at Waffle House.

22:00

You are not alone, you

22:03

are alone Dead leaves and the

22:05

dirty ground When I know you're

22:07

not around Shining

22:10

traps and soda bombs When

22:12

I hear lips make a sound

22:15

When I hear lips make a sound Turning

22:20

us in the mailbox When I'm

22:22

saying that I'm coming home

22:25

And I think I'm gonna stick around I

22:28

just

22:31

want

22:42

to give special props to Kevin

22:45

and Robert in Obscuria Podcast

22:47

just having a car there,

22:50

helping navigate the

22:53

weekend and not waiting for Ubers all

22:55

weekend and just in general just

22:58

a great hang. I

23:00

don't know, anybody else you wanna mention? Just, it was just

23:02

fun, because it wasn't the same

23:04

group of people as it has been every year, so. Yeah,

23:07

it was really cool to hang with them as much as we did.

23:09

I've gotten to know Kevin quite a bit. I

23:11

really think the

23:12

first time I sat down and talked to him extensively

23:15

was at the second one, maybe the third one. But

23:17

him and I had maintained a friendship through

23:20

social media basically. And

23:23

then, you know, even more time with Robert this year than

23:25

the last time we were there. He's

23:28

a fascinating individual. They

23:30

do a great show for anybody that hasn't

23:32

checked out in Obscuria. It is

23:34

definitely one of my go-tos as

23:36

far as getting deep into music and stuff.

23:38

Kevin is one of

23:41

the most knowledgeable people on almost all

23:43

genres of music. His brain

23:45

works differently than the general public, I think.

23:48

So yeah, very big shout out to hanging out with those

23:50

guys. Thank you for all the help you gave us, but more

23:52

importantly, it was just fun to hang out with you. Uh,

23:55

and that end. By the way, Kevin

23:57

and I might be having a secret project.

24:00

We've started talking about

24:02

it is very much in the maybe we'll

24:04

do this stage So

24:07

look for that taste be not fulfilled

24:09

as the years go by Yeah, you

24:11

know what? I'll shout out to ages of rock Julian

24:15

Gill kiss FAQ. I'm just kind of walking

24:18

through the building The fellow Pantheon

24:20

podcasters. I got to meet Jay from the

24:22

hook podcast for the first time I've been on his show

24:24

once and Of course, you

24:27

know Peter and Christian were there Whining

24:30

and dining all the Pantheon podcasters

24:32

all weekend. I don't know about the dining, maybe

24:35

not so much of the whining, but they were all about the

24:38

black carpet for us. There's a kid named Connor

24:40

Schenk who I met last year. He's

24:42

a big grunge fan, so we came over to talk about

24:44

the whatever never mind series.

24:47

We've kind of had a little bit of a friendship

24:49

since then, but Ian and Ralph had

24:51

me on. to see those guys are still

24:56

old curmudgins and drawn

24:59

dick

25:00

pics on Sammy Hagar album covers so

25:02

I'm sure I miss a handful of people but those are the ones that

25:05

as I'm visually walking through the

25:07

room and you know it was nice to not have to me

25:09

there for change right that's

25:11

true yeah and then also you know like having

25:16

to supervise him make sure that

25:18

Michael Sweet didn't show up and

25:21

say something to him. But he

25:23

is not tired of hearing that one. I

25:26

know he's not. That's why I put it there. Just

25:29

throwing it up there. Yeah, just

25:30

for the record, Josh, I was glad you weren't

25:32

there because I had a chance with

25:34

the Squish. Exactly. I

25:36

heard it. You need to be babysat.

25:39

Yeah, exactly. Remember that when you

25:41

sent out your angry text. Yeah,

25:44

you got the Amorica

25:47

podcast. I've never met Dave Hudson before, so I

25:49

actually added that one to my

25:51

podcast Q on the Way Home and Brian

25:53

Davis of Damn Good Movie Memory. Alright,

25:56

I'm guessing on the show. And

25:58

we have a secret project too. a

26:00

certain band that we're not going to absolutely, it's

26:02

not going to happen this year, but we've discussed it. We've

26:04

had many, many messages

26:07

of things that will never actually happen. But

26:09

maybe I'll be on that show soon, too. Well, let's

26:11

get into the news, man. This stuff is piled up because

26:13

we have been derelict in our duties, focusing

26:16

on Rockin' Pod and March Badness.

26:18

It's that time of year, people. But now it's

26:20

April. The flowers

26:22

are returned. It's the chance to

26:24

forgive and start a new. So let's get into some of

26:27

this backlog on news

26:29

here. I wanted to hit you with something

26:31

and we talked briefly about this, but what the

26:33

fuck happened to alternative nation?

26:36

This used to be a reputable music

26:38

site. Do you recall? I

26:41

briefly touched on this with you a while back.

26:44

Do you know what I'm talking about?

26:46

I think there's been a few you've

26:48

shared with me. I don't remember the specific

26:50

one. Just garbage

26:52

headlines and clickbait is all

26:54

it is. I have their page up right now. Let

26:56

Let me just run down through some of the stories

26:59

they're going. Rock legend convinced Kurt Cobain

27:01

to sell out. That's timely.

27:04

Van Halen reveals the truth about Taylor Hawkins.

27:08

Keep that one pinned.

27:10

Tommy Lee posts interesting Foo

27:12

Fighters photo. Courtney

27:17

Love exposes racist rock and roll

27:19

Hall of Fame.

27:24

accused of ruining hair

27:26

metal bands career.

27:30

Def Leppard dropped Taylor Hawkins death

27:33

bombshell. That sounds oddly familiar

27:35

to another headline they had. You

27:38

two savagely humiliate Jay

27:40

Leno. And

27:42

I'll just leave you with one more here. What's a good

27:45

one here? Motley Cruisinger pool

27:47

photo revealed. And

27:50

you know how much I love the fake news crowd?

27:52

The fake news crowd doesn't seem to

27:54

be affected by shit like this. That's

27:56

real fake news. Any time you have a headline that

27:58

says, shocking. revealed,

28:01

breaks silence, NFL

28:03

world reacts to. You're not reading

28:06

news, you're reading pretty much garbage, but this

28:08

used to be a real, I have shot shows

28:10

next to an alternative nation photographer. They

28:13

used to be almost like a Rolling

28:15

Stone or a spin magazine. Now I know, Rolling

28:17

Stone sucks, you know what I mean? The journalism

28:20

level. I get it. Yeah, this is

28:22

fucking the Daily Star

28:24

or something like that. I don't know. I think I remember which one

28:27

it is. Is Alternative News the one that talked about

28:29

Dave Grohl has

28:30

gray hair. Yeah, yeah, that was the

28:32

one. That's the one. Okay. Yeah,

28:35

do you want to start here

28:37

or I can give you my perspective on

28:40

it?

28:41

Guys, the bills

28:44

need to be paid. Oh, you're

28:46

giving an actual explanation. Yeah, of course

28:48

it's about. Sorry. No, no, I like it.

28:51

That's it. Like, like I can just imagine

28:54

you, but you've worked at alternative. What

28:57

Is it press?

28:58

AP, right? That's another one,

29:00

yeah.

29:01

Not to be confused with alternative press, because

29:04

we probably should make that clarification. Yeah,

29:07

OK. And it's like, you know

29:09

what? What we're doing ain't working, so just drum

29:11

up the bullshit. I mean, that has to be,

29:14

you're fired, get

29:16

some clowns to write

29:18

some bad headlines. I just embarrass

29:20

for anybody that actually clicks on those and goes, ooh, what

29:22

is the shocking truth

29:24

about Taylor Hawkins' death? I can find out from Def

29:26

Leppard.

29:28

And it's like the whole band, like they got together and

29:30

like, all right,

29:31

guys, it's time we reveal some

29:34

truth about Taylor Hawkins' death as

29:37

a group.

29:39

I would be happy though, if I

29:41

clicked on the pool picture of Motley Crue and it was just

29:43

a picture of Chris Holmes in the pool from the

29:46

Clyde and the Western Civilization.

29:49

Every time it was just always talking about a

29:51

pool picture, it was that picture. Well.

29:54

Just an ongoing joke. And going back to your initial point

29:56

that basically, yeah, they have to pay the bill, So this

29:58

seems to work better.

30:00

Mark Chikini would like me to remind

30:02

you the listeners that it

30:04

is the music

30:05

Business it

30:07

is not the music do good job Tell

30:10

me new racers well anyway because

30:13

I mean these chips ain't free you

30:15

gotta pay the bills Well

30:19

on that sucks In

30:21

the in the that sucks department Millie

30:23

Vanilli Do you know that their

30:26

debut record is 30 years old now? That's 30 years

30:28

since the whole mess with them.

30:31

God, it seems like I should be older. Yeah, it kind of

30:33

does, doesn't it? Maybe

30:35

my math is off, you know how that goes. They

30:38

would be fine right now. Nobody would care.

30:41

If it came out now, it'd be like, what's the big deal?

30:44

You're just old. You're just old to think people

30:46

who are singing should actually know how to sing. All

30:50

I care is I enjoy the show. I

30:52

don't care how it's made. As long

30:55

as when I go there, it sounds

30:57

good. Yeah. I don't...

30:59

We're not going to beat that

31:01

one to death. And

31:04

then, let's hit this to the cure. Did

31:06

you hear about them going after Ticketmaster? They tried

31:08

to keep their ticket prices low. And

31:11

then Ticketmaster just tacked on fees that

31:13

were more than the ticket. I

31:17

did see that. Oh, God.

31:19

And I have a copy of the email Ticketmaster

31:21

people received, because basically,

31:24

apparently Robert Smith has more flex

31:27

in this department than

31:29

I would have assumed, because

31:31

he got Ticketmaster to issue partial

31:34

refunds of those things. And the email

31:37

that you got is... You've got mail. It

31:39

will say your name. It says, you're getting a partial refund

31:42

of $5. For your recent

31:44

order for the cure you will receive a partial

31:46

refund of five dollars per ticket this

31:48

is all thanks to Robert Smith doesn't

31:52

that sound petty? That

31:55

motherfucker is making us give

31:57

you back money we really probably should have taken.

32:00

in

32:00

the first place. Yeah. Jesus

32:02

Christ. Nice job, Robert Smith. Yeah.

32:05

There's a guy that should have had a better stage name,

32:07

in my opinion. Yeah, because when I

32:09

hear Robert Smith, I think of the Minnesota Viking running

32:11

back. Roo, roo, roo, roo. Smith

32:13

at 133 yards. The Vikings lead at 7-0.

32:16

Third, quarter, first, and seventh of the Vikes. Again, it's

32:18

Smith. The Watch, you make the move on John Lynch. Woo,

32:20

woo, woo, woo, woo.

32:22

Roo, roo, roo, roo.

32:24

I think of somebody that does my taxes. Roo, roo,

32:26

roo, roo. I bet you this guy could do your taxes.

32:29

You think so? But he'd leave a little mascara

32:31

on the face. No, no, I meant the liking guy. He's a smart

32:34

guy. No. Oh, okay. Sorry.

32:36

See? Again, you want to have a different name. You

32:38

don't want to be confused with either accountant. And

32:40

of course, Neil Young chimed in, and that's

32:43

just going to piss everybody off, because he's

32:45

just out of touch. What could someone who's been 50, 60 years

32:48

in this industry possibly have

32:50

to say about this that's irrelevant? Basically,

32:53

he just said that it's not funded to her anymore

32:56

because fans blame the

32:58

artist for these prices. But you and I have exposed

33:00

that the artists deserve a little bit of the

33:03

criticism. Maybe not Neil Young specifically.

33:06

Not all of them. Robert Smith seems to go, what

33:08

the fuck are you doing, Ticketmaster? But

33:10

we know we've exposed the ugly

33:13

underbelly of ticketing. Is

33:15

anybody got an email that said this $10

33:18

is refunded courtesy of James Hetfield?

33:20

I I don't think so. They got one

33:22

about Robert Smith. You can thank James Headfield for

33:24

this. Yeah. Exactly.

33:27

I mean, all you gotta do, here's a tip

33:30

for the artist. A lot of tips on this show.

33:32

And I'll say that that little check

33:35

box that says, do you allow us to use dynamic

33:38

pricing? Don't put the check mark

33:40

on it.

33:41

And maybe some of this stuff won't happen. It is part

33:43

of the agreement. I just, you

33:46

know, I'm about to go down that rabbit hole that

33:48

we've covered. And maybe in a future episode, be something

33:50

worth getting into again, but yeah, nothing to

33:52

do to report at this time. We're fine.

33:55

No. So you're saying that

33:57

we basically,

33:59

We ran a site, every

34:01

article would be about Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster,

34:04

rape, rape span again. Oh, God.

34:07

So, yes, alternative news. Has anybody

34:09

else made

34:10

a turn like alternative news?

34:14

Well, if we can take it

34:16

outside the world of music, I think the

34:18

Learning Channel and Bravo

34:21

have made drastic changes in their

34:23

formats from what they were at

34:25

one point. The Learning Channel used to be about educational

34:27

programming. Now it's Honey Boo Boo and

34:30

I don't know, some rich people

34:32

complaining about

34:34

house flipping. Isn't that kind of like IFC too,

34:36

like international film channel and

34:38

there's nothing international about it and. I

34:40

thought that was independent film channel.

34:42

Is it? I don't know. Whatever.

34:46

Yeah, Bravo used to be kind of like that high brow,

34:48

like the movies that like you actually didn't want to watch.

34:50

It was like the PBS of HBO. And

34:53

now it's Real Housewives of Kentucky.

34:56

They're

34:56

running out of talons. God,

35:00

who watches that garbage? Jesus. They're

35:03

running out of talons. They

35:06

need to do a Real Housewives of St. Paul. And

35:10

then Real Housewives.

35:12

Now these fucking

35:13

pretentious bitches who

35:15

clearly aren't spending their plastic

35:18

surgery money very well. Yeah.

35:21

Yeah. You should be a lot hotter for the amount of work you're

35:23

getting done.

35:27

You're

35:35

riding

35:42

in cars, riding

35:49

in cars Never gonna

35:51

give it for free You're

35:55

poppin' with a funeral The finest avenue

35:58

Lacking at your feet on You always

36:00

question the sharp and sad as fuck

36:02

with nothing You

36:05

bitch, you must be getting

36:07

old So stop your love or your

36:10

rule Are you digging my door? You

36:13

make me wonder Yes, I wonder I

36:16

wonder Party

36:21

Are you too moronic? Party

36:43

Michael Anthony was just on the Eddie

36:46

Trunk show and Eddie asked him what else he's

36:48

got coming up. If

36:51

it sounds like Sammy in the circle might be winding down,

36:53

Sammy's gonna to put that to bed. Anyway, Michael

36:56

said he's got a project in the works with

36:58

Phil X. He's got a

37:00

possible project in the works. Now, of course,

37:03

Blabbermouth is running with this as it's going to happen.

37:06

He's very careful.

37:08

We're in talks. We've kind of

37:11

tossed it around. But yeah, with members

37:13

of Bon Jovi and Aerosmith,

37:16

and when I say Bon Jovi and Aerosmith, they're

37:18

not the names you're going to think of. This is

37:21

I'll tell you that you know you're a B or

37:24

C level super group when Michael Anthony

37:26

is your biggest member. Hey,

37:28

you guys have to work on time. Good

37:32

guy. But yeah, if Michael Anthony is your headliner

37:35

then

37:36

yeah, you're not you're not a super group officially. Bon

37:38

Jovi's guitar player Phil X who I

37:41

actually love. I started watching

37:43

his guitar videos on Instagram

37:46

and I've become quite a fan of him. He's

37:49

a fabulous guitar player and yeah but he felt

37:51

it basically to go once Richie Sambora

37:53

quit and then whoever's playing

37:55

drums John Douglas for Aerosmith.

38:00

for

38:00

Kramer, what's Kramer's

38:02

first name? Joey. Joey Kramer. So

38:05

yeah, it's kind of like the replacement players.

38:08

And Jeff Scott Soto recently outed

38:10

himself as the possible singer

38:13

in this project. Me, me, me, me, me.

38:16

So yeah, not a lot of super in that group. Might

38:18

be good. I don't know. Those are all talented people. That's

38:21

not a super group. You

38:23

told me that that guy was actually in. So that's

38:25

basically like the drum tech that's filling in

38:28

from For Aerosmith. I didn't

38:30

even know his name. So, all right,

38:32

well, that's a push, but

38:33

whatever. Listen, then

38:35

Michael, I'm not sure if you knew, but Michael Anthony is part

38:38

of that background vocal sound

38:40

that Van Halen had. And I will

38:43

give him props, the best part, about the Sammy

38:45

Hagar show that I saw last year

38:48

is when they did Ain't Talkin' About Love and they

38:50

gave him lead vocals. Sure. So,

38:52

it's a take-out. And I don't know if you knew this, but with

38:55

Chicken Foot,

38:56

Sammy really pushed Michael into

38:58

the front of the mix, not buried

39:01

like he was in Van Halen. But what I will say

39:03

is when you take somebody that's on the side and you put

39:05

them up front, maybe a little too much sometimes.

39:07

It's kind of like it's good to have just a little taste. Yeah.

39:10

I'm not sure if I need a whole Michael Anthony-led

39:13

vocal album. I'm not sure if I need him as

39:15

a frontman of my band. Well, it sounds like

39:17

he thinks that too. If Jeff Scott Soto

39:20

is telling the truth. Jeff Scott Soto, yeah. And then

39:22

occasionally,

39:23

they will have him. And during a live

39:25

performance, talk about love. people will

39:27

say that was the best part of that show. What

39:30

do you think's the better gig, being Sammy's drinking

39:32

buddy or Jeff Scott's Soto's drinking buddy?

39:37

I'm trying to see. I

39:40

think there's a lot of herbal tea in the Jeff

39:42

Scott Soto drinking party. So you think so? Yeah,

39:44

I'm going with Sammy. Yeah, you're right, you're right. So

39:47

anyway, that may or may not happen, much like

39:49

the project I have going on with Kevin

39:51

Williams. So we'll see. You know what?

39:53

I'm throwing down the gauntlet. First

39:56

one out wins. So my

39:58

project with Kevin Williams or

40:00

or whatever this nonsense

40:02

will be called. You got any tentative names for

40:04

it? Not so super? I think NSS, not

40:06

so super. I think the initial name

40:09

of the album though is

40:11

Poonie's Boner. Me, me, me, me. This is

40:13

definitely a Poonie. You know this fucker's gonna be

40:15

on Frontiers. Oh

40:17

yeah, this is already wrapped

40:20

up, paid for. Yeah,

40:22

Frontiers has already started printing the album. It's

40:24

not even recorded yet. Yeah. What

40:27

do you think about the Frontiers rumor that's just

40:31

a money laundering for the mob.

40:34

Sounds good to me. Ha

40:37

ha ha.

40:37

You just go with that? Yeah. You

40:40

already went and put that out there? Oh yeah. Okay.

40:42

Ha ha ha ha. Because it's true. We're

40:46

gonna be dead. We just put this podcast

40:49

out and just shot. Oh yeah. One

40:51

podcaster dead in Centennial, one

40:54

in St. Paul over the weekend. Yeah,

40:56

one in St. Paul's doing all right. Oh,

40:58

yes, okay, because he took this part out. Fair

41:00

enough. He just kept it vague.

41:03

Okay. Sounds

41:06

good to me. I don't know what that means. Fair enough.

41:08

Hey, Vitalik about a pressing plant, and I saw

41:11

that one of the headlines about this,

41:13

like a vinyl pressing plant, I'm saying, like

41:16

they follow in Jack White's footsteps. No, they

41:19

just bought one that already existed. Jack White

41:21

built one. No. Okay. And

41:24

Jack White has actually been a proponent for record companies.

41:26

Let's build some more these were way too backlogged

41:29

on this. So Metallica really just

41:32

made maybe a

41:33

business investment than it was really anything

41:36

to help the industry. But who knows, maybe

41:38

they'll build another one then. I don't know. It's

41:40

kind of cool.

41:41

I guarantee their releases are going

41:45

to get pushed ahead of other projects. Muckerman I did find

41:47

it interesting that probably part of the

41:49

backlog is maybe not the pressing plants,

41:51

but the fact that there's only less than 100, we'll

41:54

just say, mastering engineers in

41:56

the process. Yeah, what did Josh say, about 40

41:58

in the United States?

42:00

That was the number he gave and I'm just I'm

42:02

playing devil's advocate and giving a bigger number

42:05

still but still whatever number that is

42:07

pretty uh, I Don't

42:10

know pretty that whole skill

42:12

set very limited as

42:14

far as somebody does it it's mind-blowing But

42:16

also refreshing that there really hasn't been any

42:19

Advancements in that area as

42:21

far as saving time It

42:23

seems like the only thing that's really been cut out of the process

42:26

is a consistent plant

42:28

test pressing, which is

42:31

basically at the plant, they press one. Somebody

42:33

listens to it in a quality control. That's

42:35

your last sign off, like a press

42:37

check

42:37

almost. Sure. Yep, this is

42:40

good. And then to think about that too, I believe

42:43

I talked to him about it when I had him on the show, but to me,

42:46

it's even more fascinating, because you're talking like the late 70s,

42:48

early 80s, you're a bigger

42:50

artist, you're pressing $500,000 to

42:53

over a million of a new release.

42:56

And that means, because we talked about, he

42:59

makes one lacquer that

43:01

can make, I think, 10 fathers.

43:04

Each

43:06

father can make 10 mothers. And

43:08

then each mother can make one

43:11

plate.

43:15

And that can make 1,000 records. So I

43:17

do the math backwards. But it's only like 10,000 or so before you

43:22

have to start all the way back at the

43:24

beginning. Now, the mastering's already done, but just

43:28

impressive. It's a

43:30

very niche thing. We're really getting back into

43:32

what we were talking about already, though. It's

43:36

all good. All

43:38

right.

43:40

It's the Rock and Pod Hangover, people. Yeah.

43:42

We're still a little groggy, huh? Maybe

43:45

that's what it is. Just saying. Yeah.

43:47

Two flights in a short period. It always seems like you get

43:49

some kind of bug. I have had

43:52

a little bit of a cold leading

43:54

early into the week. But hey, I touched

43:56

on Jack White. He

43:59

has his blood. Leuven Records where they press

44:01

vinyl. There's

44:04

been a lot of kerfuffle recently about Meg

44:06

White's drum playing. Have you heard any of this nonsense

44:08

and how it's just blown way out of proportion?

44:12

I know it involves trolls. Yeah, okay.

44:15

Fortunately, I don't remember the guy's name because I wouldn't mention

44:17

it anyway because I already think he's getting exactly what he wants.

44:19

I think this is really just... First of all, Meg White

44:22

hasn't been performing on any

44:25

level or recording over a decade. The White Stripes

44:27

have been done for at least so long, and she's done nothing.

44:30

So leave

44:32

her the fuck alone if you don't like her. You know what I

44:34

mean? What the fuck? But someone

44:36

basically shared a song, and he's someone

44:38

of note. He had a blue check anyway, but nowadays

44:41

that can mean nothing. He

44:43

basically said, imagine how good the White

44:46

Stripes would be if they had a good drummer. What

44:49

a travesty or something like that. And then, boom,

44:52

Questlove comes in, Tom Morello comes in,

44:54

Jack White eventually said something about it. But

44:58

if you're for film, if anybody who's listened to the White

45:00

Stripes and thought, man, think how much better

45:02

this would be if they maybe like a Mike Portnoy

45:04

played on it, you have no fucking

45:07

clue. You don't understand what the

45:09

White Stripes were about, what their music, how

45:11

it was meant. She was the perfect drummer for

45:13

that. I'll defend her on that. But to me,

45:16

either this person, that's where he's at, he does

45:18

no understanding of like, you know, just because she's

45:20

not doing 90 mile an hour, you know, Tom

45:23

Fills doesn't mean that she's not playing

45:25

what she's playing good,

45:28

or she's not fitting the song.

45:31

To me, she is kind of like Ringo. A

45:33

lot of non-traditional beats,

45:36

and simplistic, may be easy

45:37

to pick up to some people, but

45:40

definitely ridiculous. But I think the

45:42

guy really just wanted to get the attention he's got,

45:44

and boy, this is just flowing out of control.

45:47

It's nonsense. I was a fan of Elephant

45:50

and Icky Thump. That's my zone of

45:52

those two albums. And they

45:54

have some of the most

45:56

basic drum beats, but that's all you

45:59

need. Because then Jack White's just fucking whales

46:02

all over it. So it's all good. Yeah, I mean, you're talking

46:05

about bare minimum music here, you know what I mean? They

46:07

also didn't have a bass player dipshit.

46:09

Yeah. Imagine if the Sex Pistols, but

46:12

with Neil Pert

46:15

and Geddy Lee and Alex

46:17

Leifson. Think

46:19

how much better the Sex Pistols would be if that was the

46:22

band. I

46:25

would say if you have a better drummer

46:27

though, you get local H. Oh,

46:30

two-person band that kills white stripes in

46:32

any competition. I'll just tell you right now.

46:34

That's a hot tech. That's all I got. That's

46:37

my hot tech. Any local age drummer will smoke

46:39

Meg White. I would say... Yeah,

46:41

any one of the many they've had. The

46:45

spinal tap of two-person band. First

46:47

of all, I had three. Three. Now

46:50

you sound like me when someone says, how many

46:53

farewell tourists has Kiss had? Only

46:55

two!

46:56

Jerk!

47:00

See trainee

47:06

who birds up in

47:10

the trees One for

47:13

you and

47:16

one for me When

47:21

we thought we might

47:24

be losing our minds

47:27

We saw the signs When

47:31

your mother would be lonely Everybody

47:35

ought to be loved sometimes Fear

47:41

you'd shut us down in your

47:45

pain Feed me

47:47

the right eye of

47:49

your pain All

47:52

night long I had you

47:55

on my mind Flyin'

47:58

high I'm

48:01

going to say that I had 20

48:04

at least. I

48:31

mixed it up a little bit on Friday, so I don't know. Really?

48:36

Oh, you did. That's why that was your

48:38

problem. Oh, by the way, can I talk

48:40

about the digestive system?

48:41

Sure. And from a doctor's

48:43

standpoint? Why not? Not a

48:46

doctor? Not a doctor. That is that you

48:48

weren't feeling that well on Saturday, and

48:50

possibly still,

48:52

from the performance of both of us on this episode.

48:55

But that

48:58

is that you did

49:00

a mistake and that is your

49:03

body throughout time has

49:05

been

49:07

designed to

49:09

digest specifically

49:11

Coors Light at a certain intake

49:14

over a night, a period of a night. And

49:16

if you put in, it's the same thing as if you put in

49:18

the generic oil, it might be

49:21

the same grade at the at

49:23

the auto shop but if you it's

49:25

not going to be the same through the bacco alcohol

49:28

intake system and it's going to throw everything

49:31

off the gears get all rusty and it doesn't

49:33

turn out well so if you start

49:36

drinking one type of beer for the night don't

49:38

bounce around I don't care if it's the same alcohol percentage

49:41

it needs to be that perfect blend from golden colorado

49:44

at all times for you to to have peak

49:46

performance I'm

49:47

going to stick stick with my, what I feel is a

49:49

more scientific explanation for the hangover

49:52

I had Saturday morning and that is I

49:54

drank too much. went

50:00

off of Coors Light. I think if they're all Coors

50:02

Lights, I probably would have felt the same.

50:04

I just say, Baco, if the mountains

50:06

ain't blue, you're through.

50:09

Yeah, you know what? That's a good sign. If I'm

50:11

slowing down to the point where that beer

50:14

gets warm, yeah, I probably should just

50:16

stop drinking. Even

50:18

I asked you, I go, do

50:21

the actual bottles, is that Mountain Blue thing,

50:23

is that the same as the bottles in the can? You're

50:26

like, I'm not even sure. I've never even seen that thing not

50:28

turn. Turn because you drink

50:30

it fast enough. Yeah, I don't

50:32

need koozies Yeah,

50:35

yes, you know sometimes in the summer though you get them

50:37

out that 90 degree It doesn't take

50:39

much for that beer to get too warm.

50:41

But huh this thing changes

50:43

color. Yeah You see

50:45

that nobody in South America wants to see God smack.

50:47

I

50:50

Hope that continues I Was

50:54

looking for something a little better there

50:57

But the proof that South America has better

50:59

taste? Yeah,

51:02

I don't know. They canceled their tours

51:04

supposedly because of low ticket sales. That is

51:06

an encouraging sign.

51:08

It is, isn't it? It only took 25,

51:10

30 years for people to finally

51:12

realize God's mech sucks. Yeah,

51:14

I'm not as big a hater on them as you know, but yeah,

51:18

they're very much like five finger death punch

51:20

to me. There's a couple things I dig, but

51:23

the singer's a douche. So, kind

51:26

of fits well. Hey, did you know they put two drum

51:28

sets on stage when they go on tour and they have a drum

51:31

off? Did you know that Sully is

51:33

also a drummer? Just

51:35

letting people know.

51:38

You mentioned Xtreme a while back. They have a new

51:40

record coming out. You hear what it's called?

51:43

Decent

51:47

songs, but some awesome solos. No,

51:49

it's called six.

51:52

Mmm. A winger though, a winger was like,

51:54

oh, you're going to call your record six? A winger has

51:56

a new record come out. Guess what it's called? Seven.

51:59

Seven. Buck

52:00

Cherry has a new record coming out. Any guesses? 12.

52:04

Close! 10. So we got

52:07

six, seven,

52:09

ten coming out people. And

52:14

that's this week in bands

52:17

naming their album on number news.

52:21

Yeah, did you know why six is afraid of seven

52:23

because I mean eight nine yeah

52:25

that's right yeah seven eight nine

52:27

where is it it goes six seven

52:30

ten there you go where's nine well

52:32

there was a Windows eight oh

52:35

I

52:36

don't know again we're still hungover hey

52:41

a journey I'm not a band that I follow

52:43

too much but they have been a lot of fucking fun

52:45

lately have Have you seen what

52:47

a fucking shit show they've

52:50

kind of turned into? As

52:53

opposed, is this involved the singer

52:56

and legit stuff? Yeah, I think that the two

52:58

name owners in the band right now are Jonathan

53:00

Cain, the keyboard player, and Neil Schoen, the

53:02

only member of the group that has been with

53:05

every tour, every album. But

53:08

I believe they're the ones that basically are the controlling entities.

53:11

Maybe Steve Perry still

53:13

has a financial cut, but he's

53:15

not really involved in the day-to-day day stuff but yeah so

53:17

great deal though huh and he just gets

53:20

up just saying like for Steve Perry like he gets to

53:22

have something just keep on

53:24

if that's what he's got yes it's pretty awesome but

53:27

I can't say for sure that he does maybe he was bought out

53:29

I really don't know but yeah Neil and Jonathan

53:31

were suing each

53:34

other over

53:37

the band's credit card

53:39

and I know Jonathan Cain

53:41

his wife is kind of a batshit religion

53:45

She was like she was like Trump's personal Minister

53:49

or whatever the title she held so I

53:51

know they're talking about yeah, I didn't know that was his

53:53

wife Yeah, so this and yeah,

53:55

I know there were some disagreements between

53:58

like like Jonathan Kane would be at like

54:00

Trump events in a promoting

54:03

sense. And Neil

54:05

Shone was kind of against that because they didn't

54:07

really want Journey tied to any political things, blah,

54:10

blah, blah. Fast forward, they're fighting over money,

54:12

they're suing each other. Well, apparently

54:14

they're on tour and

54:16

they both have their own hired security that guards

54:19

their locked personal dressing rooms. And

54:21

this is because a while back,

54:24

Neil Shone went shuffling through Jonathan

54:26

Kane's shit while he wasn't in

54:28

there. And then, so

54:31

John of the Kane. Shuffling. Yeah, whatever, digging

54:33

through his crap, man. Jesus.

54:35

Fucking checking out his DMs, seeing

54:38

who he's cheating on. So

54:40

John of the Kane hired, rather than address

54:42

this and quit the band, do whatever you need to do, just

54:45

hired a bodyguard to guard

54:48

his locked dressing room. When Neil Shone

54:50

saw that, he's like, well, fuck, I'm doing that

54:52

too. So now they both, and then

54:54

in the middle of all this, like Neil Shone

54:56

went on social media and said, this upcoming

54:59

tour the keyboard player is going to be a guy named Greg

55:01

Raleigh who was the original keyboard player that

55:03

Jonathan Kane actually replaced. And

55:06

Jonathan Kane's like that's not happening and it's

55:09

just like neither one of these guys can't see that they're no

55:12

good together man. Just end

55:14

it. But you know maybe the journey

55:16

money must be either

55:18

they're really bad financially with the money they make

55:21

and they just need this just to to get

55:23

by or it's just so fucking good

55:26

that they're willing to go through this, but I gotta tell

55:28

you, they wouldn't take a lot less for me to walk away.

55:32

I think this is kind of how we

55:35

are gonna be in about 10 years. What do you

55:37

think? Separate hotel rooms at Rockin'

55:39

Pod, 25. Bot bodyguards

55:42

outside of our rooms. I mean, it's all gonna start

55:45

from, imagine this year you

55:47

walked in, if you walked in and you just saw me

55:49

shuffling through your suitcase. Just

55:52

the term shuffling sounds funny. Just

55:54

like trying to find stuff. Jerk's flag's flying everywhere, face fans.

55:57

Yeah, like all that stuff. and

55:59

Tony White.

56:00

It's just amusing to me. Like what is it,

56:02

I'm just imagining, just knowing Neil

56:05

Shone missing it right? I think so. That's

56:08

how much I know.

56:09

You know, that's a pretty put together guy every

56:11

time I see him. I'm just imagining him as a shuffler

56:14

of stuff just in general. Like

56:16

what is he looking for from this guy

56:19

in general? Well he's a little bat

56:21

shit too. He had a pay-per-view for his most

56:24

recent wedding.

56:26

Oh, maybe we need

56:28

to look into Journey more because we saw

56:31

at the expo that there was actually

56:34

a Night Ranger podcast. I'm like, how can that be? How

56:36

can that be more than two episodes?

56:39

But maybe there is enough meat here on the bone for

56:41

Journey sidecast. It could be,

56:43

yeah. Because it isn't

56:45

like both those bands are very symbiotic

56:47

to me in the sense of like, it seems like their biggest fans are

56:49

ones who are like, hey, I hear Journey's

56:52

coming to the state fair this year. You

56:54

wanna go? You wanna go? Yeah, I wanna

56:56

go. What

56:57

day is it? Tuesday? I'm like, ugh.

56:59

Ah, I don't know. It's Oreo

57:01

opening. They don't seem like Kiss fans, you know,

57:03

where they, you can basically just throw any fucking

57:06

random nugget out there as an episode and it's gonna

57:08

do well. Right. So yeah, we

57:10

should probably reach out to the Night Ranger guys and tell us, how's

57:12

this going? Yeah.

57:16

But yeah, this is, you're right. Maybe

57:18

we do need to dig into this journey stuff a little

57:20

bit and...

57:22

I don't know. I mean, you don't hear about stuff

57:25

like, like if you heard that, that,

57:28

you know, Gene found Eric Singer

57:30

flipping through his luggage and stuff like that,

57:33

that's, that's a headline right there.

57:37

Open

57:42

my eyes to a new

57:44

kind of way All

57:49

the good times that you

57:51

said

57:56

How you feeling? Are

58:00

you feeling that way too? Or

58:03

am I just, am

58:07

I just a fool? The

58:10

summer's gone, she'll

58:12

be there, standing

58:15

by the line What

58:17

she's been to, what she's gone

58:19

to, she should know wrong or

58:21

right Is she feeling, are

58:24

you feeling? You're

58:28

feeling that way too Or

58:31

am I just Am

58:35

I just too A

58:39

new road's waiting You touch

58:41

my life Oh

58:46

soft and warm on a summer's

58:48

night

58:52

You're the only one I told

58:55

you The only

58:57

one I love The only one I love I'm

59:03

thinking of With

59:06

the servants young,

59:08

stupid men Standing

59:11

by the lines Washing

59:14

big duets has gone

59:16

do She should know wrong from

59:18

right Is she feeling?

59:21

Are you feeling? You're

59:25

feeling that way too. Oh

59:28

yeah, yeah, yeah. You're

59:32

feeling that way. Even the surface

59:34

gone should be there. Standing by

59:37

the light. You know, hey,

59:39

I should give you props, though. You

59:42

are much more respectable of the

59:44

boundaries in the hotel room this year than

59:46

you've been in the past.

59:47

I appreciate that. Thank you. Absolutely.

59:51

And you as well. I have no idea

59:53

what I was angry about with you but I need to throw

59:55

that out there that you've improved too. Oh. Hahahaha

1:00:00

Yeah, we're maturing. We

1:00:03

really are. This is a much

1:00:05

more mature show than it was five

1:00:07

years ago. It sure is. Oh,

1:00:10

God.

1:00:11

What do you think? Do you think

1:00:13

people learn less now from listening

1:00:16

to our show than they did five years ago, or the same

1:00:18

amount of

1:00:19

learning? I think they're more misinformed

1:00:22

now than they were. You

1:00:28

think we do less fact checking now? Oh,

1:00:30

I know I do. Yeah. I

1:00:33

was born with it, baby. Just

1:00:35

going with this? Have we

1:00:37

turned?

1:00:39

Are we the alternative news? Have we

1:00:41

made this shift? Are we nothing but clickbait

1:00:43

now? Maybe we

1:00:45

are. I don't know. I'm just doing self analysis.

1:00:48

You need to look at things, the big picture

1:00:50

view, Baco. What are we really contributing

1:00:52

to the world right now? Have we improved

1:00:54

our game or is our game just

1:00:57

going with the culture and that this is the new

1:00:59

standard? Do we set the bar really low?

1:01:02

Well I never really had thought either

1:01:04

of us had much game so I don't know

1:01:06

that we could have

1:01:09

lost it to begin with. That's true. That's

1:01:12

true. Well shifting a little bit here. Wolfgang

1:01:17

Van Halen has a new record coming out I think

1:01:19

in August and he dropped a new song have you had a chance

1:01:21

to hear that?

1:01:22

I have not.

1:01:24

Any good? I like it yeah it's it's

1:01:26

solid it's very much in the vein of what

1:01:28

what I would have expected from the last record so

1:01:32

just a brutal guitar solo and

1:01:34

it just crushes it.

1:01:44

Talented guy but you know again he's doing

1:01:47

the whole thing by himself as far

1:01:49

as a recording. Oh, he's

1:01:51

doing everything. That might just be a

1:01:54

financial thing too. He's

1:01:56

just like I'm so fucking good look

1:01:58

at this shit and he likes the attention

1:02:01

he gets when he does an interview. He says, so

1:02:03

you played every instrument on this record.

1:02:06

Was that for the first one too? Yeah, for the first one

1:02:08

too. He had a true band, but it was all, okay. But I'm guessing, you

1:02:10

know what, this way, all royalties, every

1:02:12

penny, everything that the artist is owed

1:02:14

is just him, you know what I mean? And he can just have

1:02:16

hired guys to go into her with, which, you know,

1:02:19

probably not a bad gig either.

1:02:21

I think he basically learned, you

1:02:23

know, the Van Halens are known for fighting. So

1:02:26

you can't, you know, do it all yourself you

1:02:28

have actual salaried musicians,

1:02:30

then I think you're safe. You can't really have too many arguments

1:02:33

over things. Well, he

1:02:35

has no shortage of arguments

1:02:37

to get into. He did just get into another one of these social

1:02:40

media tips with somebody. This is the

1:02:42

comment that he chimed in on. So this is from a guy

1:02:44

named Hank Stevenson on Twitter.

1:02:46

Go look him up. If a person wants

1:02:49

to make a name for themselves, they wouldn't

1:02:51

take advantage of their father's last name

1:02:53

and band name. His father and uncle didn't

1:02:56

have that. Everyone in the band didn't have

1:02:58

that. Matter of fact, majority of current and

1:03:00

former bands and singers didn't have that.

1:03:02

So Wolfie came back

1:03:04

with Van Halen

1:03:07

is literally my fucking name, you grape.

1:03:10

So I like that that's

1:03:12

a new derogatory slam.

1:03:14

You fucking grape. That

1:03:17

must be... Is that very soft? You

1:03:19

know what? It's hard to explain this to someone who's

1:03:21

such a chug. So I'm just going to

1:03:23

leave it there. You either get it or

1:03:25

you don't know.

1:03:27

Okay, so then wolfy like started

1:03:29

to have some fun with it. He put a poll up What should my new

1:03:32

band name be Wolfgang Led

1:03:34

Zeppelin? Wolfgang AC DC

1:03:36

Wolfgang the who or Wolfgang Paul

1:03:38

McCartney and personally I voted for Wolfgang the who I think

1:03:41

your your whole Theory about

1:03:43

anybody that's famous has some connection

1:03:45

Somewhere as far as like somebody

1:03:48

with money or power I Think

1:03:51

it's I think it's a really true more and

1:03:53

more this is this may be enough for the show

1:03:55

But what's that you watch that show big mouth

1:03:57

right? Absolutely. Okay,

1:03:59

what's

1:04:00

What's one of the writers on

1:04:02

that show? Oh, God, the guy from

1:04:04

Shit. I'm not going to get

1:04:07

it, but he was on that sitcom

1:04:10

about the fantasy football league. See, I don't

1:04:12

remember the name of that show. Right. Yes.

1:04:16

That's what I'm talking about, that guy. He had his own Comedy

1:04:18

Central show, too. What's his name, though?

1:04:20

Crawl. Something Crawl. Maybe. His

1:04:23

mom's literally

1:04:25

a billionaire, $2 billion,

1:04:29

which he grew up in royalty.

1:04:33

Nick Kroll, Nick Kroll. I just got this. So

1:04:36

I saw it as a comment on something and I looked it

1:04:38

up and yeah, she sold her company for like 1.9 billion

1:04:40

in the 60s. So

1:04:43

that guy grew up. And if you see him actually

1:04:45

in interviews, he seems like somebody

1:04:47

that has been around

1:04:48

money his entire life now. Not to say

1:04:51

he's not talented. It's just a side thing. No, that's

1:04:53

a very well-written show. I would

1:04:55

encourage anybody to check it out. Look, it's

1:04:58

difficult because almost everybody is

1:05:01

connected in some way or has some

1:05:03

kind of advantage that say you or I wouldn't

1:05:05

have out of the gate. So that means people

1:05:07

like you and I need to become friends with

1:05:09

somebody who has that. That's really the only path

1:05:12

to any real success. There's a tip for you upcoming

1:05:14

musicians out there. Find somebody

1:05:17

who knows somebody and then put them

1:05:18

in your band.

1:05:20

And don't worry about it if they're any fucking

1:05:22

good or not. Yeah.

1:05:24

Become Sammy Hagar's drinking buddy.

1:05:26

Step one. That

1:05:29

was at least step two or three

1:05:31

for Michael. You think so? Yeah.

1:05:34

Yeah, I guess so. You're right. You're right. Well, fucking

1:05:36

David LaRoth's uncle owned a famous

1:05:39

club in Greenwich Village or something like that.

1:05:42

Right. It

1:05:44

never ends. It just seems. It's very

1:05:46

incestuous. Just saying.

1:05:49

Once you peel the layers back, there's usually

1:05:51

somebody funding the party. Yeah,

1:05:54

absolutely.

1:05:56

Speaking of funding, Gene sold his Vegas

1:05:58

house that he just bought a here ago.

1:06:00

So, just a little bit more than

1:06:03

he paid for it before all the renovations

1:06:05

he did. So he sold it for

1:06:07

less than he spent. Great businessman Gene

1:06:09

Simmons. Really is. And to help

1:06:12

offset those costs, if

1:06:14

you give him $6,000, he'll record a song

1:06:16

with you at Electric Ladyland. I

1:06:18

believe he offered the same thing at Abbey

1:06:21

Road when Kiss was touring Europe.

1:06:24

I did like the fact that he bought it. And

1:06:26

then after that on

1:06:29

his way out, trashed

1:06:31

the climate in Vegas and how his, his,

1:06:33

his family would never be around such just horribleness.

1:06:36

And there's hookers on the street. They're used to like,

1:06:38

he never met a fucking Vegas Jesus. Like

1:06:41

Vegas before. And, and

1:06:43

he did say though, uh, to be fair, he

1:06:45

said, there's no reason for me to have a house here since Ed,

1:06:47

because Eddie trunk has a house. Eddie

1:06:50

trunk bought it. Yeah,

1:06:52

maybe. Maybe it's the thing. Well,

1:06:54

Gene also did the whole, like,

1:06:57

I can't afford to live in California

1:07:00

with those liberal

1:07:01

taxes. And guess where he's

1:07:03

living now? Back in California. Apparently,

1:07:05

he still has three or four properties there. But

1:07:09

whatever. So. Apparently, he can't

1:07:11

afford it. Jesus Christ. What

1:07:13

a fucking grape. Yeah,

1:07:16

what a grape. But I gotta tell you too, is that

1:07:18

I do think it's funny how people's real

1:07:21

estate transactions become articles

1:07:24

on the bliber mouth. Like that's stuff that should have

1:07:26

been off, I mean, when we live in a world where that

1:07:28

is now an article, that was not the case.

1:07:30

I mean, sometimes if somebody has like some 30 or

1:07:34

million, you know, like some pop star, they

1:07:36

always have like an aerial view, it's always an aerial

1:07:39

view by the way, of their plantation

1:07:42

or whatever they have, you know, mansion.

1:07:45

But yeah, and I think also

1:07:47

we should mention that the

1:07:48

Puddle of Mud singer is back in jail again or something.

1:07:54

It's probably not funny. That guy sounds like he's got

1:07:56

a lot of problems. uh... no

1:07:59

i actually don't know

1:08:00

if that's possible. I'm just throwing that out as a guess.

1:08:02

Oh, it was a recent headline on Metal Sludge.

1:08:06

Okay. Yeah, come on. You knew that. Sorry. There's

1:08:09

no way you ran that whole way. I was just saying, listen, if

1:08:11

you're just going to come up with some bullshit without

1:08:14

facts and you just say the Puddle of Mud singer was

1:08:16

arrested again, there's a pretty good chance that

1:08:18

happened. I have an idea for a new game show. What's

1:08:21

that? Puddle of Mud or Puddle of Crud. And

1:08:25

basically it's a factor fiction game. I

1:08:29

did the puddle of mud

1:08:30

singer right on the baggage

1:08:32

card at an airport in Denver

1:08:36

That's a puddle of mud I

1:08:39

Just figured you just the game

1:08:41

show would be you pick a date on a calendar

1:08:44

and you ask was the puddle of mud Singer in jail

1:08:46

or not on this day. You just that's all

1:08:48

you have to do. I mean it well That's the this the

1:08:51

bonus speed round. Oh Okay,

1:08:53

that's true. Yeah I'll

1:08:56

just say it again. Why?

1:08:58

It's why does not call it mud puddle?

1:09:01

More efficient. Yeah, okay. You

1:09:04

struggle with names. They also spell mud

1:09:06

wrong. That's what I mean. I don't think's

1:09:08

wrong. Yeah, I love mud

1:09:11

very cumbersome. There's a you know, there's

1:09:13

a lot of mud in the late

1:09:15

2009 he's too early 2000s mud

1:09:18

shovel comes to head to mine mud

1:09:20

vein I mean, it's true.

1:09:22

I forgot about the mud, the mud craze.

1:09:25

music music

1:09:35

music music

1:09:44

music

1:10:00

Looking for another reason Looking

1:10:03

for a little bit of anything Give

1:10:05

me something to believe in A

1:10:07

little nothing just to get me by now Hey

1:10:12

baby, your eyes are always giving away Yeah

1:10:17

baby, I'll carry you to another day We're

1:10:21

on the right track now You're

1:10:26

every sight and sound

1:10:30

I kiss, I cast, get it all alright In

1:10:34

the wrongs we're

1:10:37

gonna take it back somehow

1:10:40

Now we're all alone

1:10:43

To burn it

1:10:45

all You're all I want somehow

1:10:50

I know it's all around, so

1:10:53

don't lose

1:10:56

hope. I think it's

1:10:58

time we take the throne.

1:11:04

Dave Mustaine had an interesting take

1:11:06

on. You remember the drummer Shonda Rover

1:11:09

and the guitar player Chris Broderick both

1:11:11

quit the band in 2014?

1:11:13

How could I not? OK. My

1:11:16

memory serves right. They also almost

1:11:18

immediately started a new project and were on tour.

1:11:22

Dave Mustaine recently came out and said

1:11:24

that this is what happened. They were doing

1:11:27

a tour with Opening for Iron Maiden

1:11:29

and Bruce Dickinson got

1:11:32

sick or hurt, whatever, they had to cancel

1:11:34

this tour. And then

1:11:37

the Megadeth Manager contacted Drover and

1:11:40

Broderick and said, yeah,

1:11:42

look guys, this going to be canceled,

1:11:44

you may need to look for other work

1:11:47

if you needed that money. So

1:11:49

they quit the ban and looked for

1:11:51

other work. But apparently they never told

1:11:53

Dave. Dave had no idea this conversation went

1:11:55

on. I couldn't remember that tour, so I went

1:11:57

and looked it I can only find a small

1:11:59

run of seven shows and

1:12:02

I couldn't find a new story saying they were or were

1:12:04

not canceled. So

1:12:07

I did I did try to do a little fact-checking on this

1:12:09

one but what a weird weird story

1:12:12

like they just like and they just kind

1:12:14

of hammers home like we were talking about how in

1:12:16

our heads like Megadeth and Anthrax are these giant

1:12:19

bands but I mean if you're

1:12:21

to the point where like well if one tour gets

1:12:23

canceled I won't be able to eat and

1:12:27

you're in the band I guess yeah I know I know Dave takes

1:12:29

probably 80%

1:12:30

and pays the

1:12:32

other members out of the remaining 20, but God,

1:12:35

that just sounds dire if that's even close

1:12:38

to accurate. I'm going to say because it was from

1:12:40

Dave Mustaine, it wasn't accurate.

1:12:42

I'm just going to say it right now. Basically,

1:12:45

when you sign up to work with Dave, you

1:12:47

just know that your backstory

1:12:49

through Dave will be shit on immediately

1:12:52

after you leave the band. I

1:12:54

don't think there's a certain person who said, he was a joy

1:12:56

to work with. Just a great guy.

1:12:59

Let me tell you how much you contributed to the sound.

1:13:02

That he definitely helped during these years,

1:13:05

craft some great melodies. I don't

1:13:08

hear that story ever from the 25 people that

1:13:11

have been in and out of the band or more.

1:13:12

What is the number? Do you think it's 30 now? Yeah,

1:13:16

let's say 30. It's definitely in the 20s. When

1:13:19

guitarists alone, you gotta be double digit, right?

1:13:23

Maybe. Gotta be close. Just

1:13:25

that position. Yeah, because you go,

1:13:28

whatever. A lot,

1:13:30

more than probably should be acceptable. But,

1:13:34

uh. You know what phrase Dave's never said? Here's

1:13:36

a phrase that Dave Mustaine has never said.

1:13:38

Maybe it's me. Ha ha ha ha ha. A

1:13:43

lot of people like that out there. Yeah.

1:13:46

I have a lot of problems when I go out

1:13:48

to eat. Everywhere

1:13:51

I go, it seems my food's fucked up. Every

1:13:54

time. every time.

1:13:57

So yeah, go check out Megadeth on tour right now.

1:14:01

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Hollywood

1:14:18

Hills, pocket full of shells

1:14:20

Sunset track, yeah, I

1:14:22

haven't even slept all day So

1:14:25

now, something's got to give

1:14:28

Might as well live it up until the face

1:14:31

You ain't got it, everything

1:14:34

you drink You're a fight,

1:14:36

just wanna be famous He's

1:14:39

so fucking jaded Cause all

1:14:41

the blame on bodies take my mind from me Show

1:14:43

around the Oscars, smoke off,

1:14:46

get us out Burned for money, it's

1:14:48

for nothing A chance to fulfill Yeah,

1:14:52

I wanna be Well,

1:15:06

LC, let's get into this Motley

1:15:08

Cruecker fuffle regarding

1:15:10

Mick Mars. A while back, obviously,

1:15:12

it was announced through a pretty

1:15:15

standard PR press release that Mick was

1:15:18

leaving the group as far as a touring part

1:15:21

of it. It sounds like he was keeping his official

1:15:25

slot in the band as far as any royalties

1:15:27

and shit.

1:15:28

And then not too long after that,

1:15:31

I think John Karabi was the one that came out. He didn't get

1:15:34

too, he wants to dance around this stuff

1:15:36

for obvious reasons, but he said, you know what, until

1:15:38

I hear something from Mick, I'm not believing it. The

1:15:40

only thing we've seen is that press release. We haven't heard a

1:15:43

word from Mick. And

1:15:45

now we have

1:15:46

some, I don't know, not anecdotal,

1:15:49

but hearsay

1:15:51

level news on this front. This

1:15:53

comes from Carmine Apposy. apparently talk

1:15:57

to make and he says well I

1:16:00

tell you what I've been talking to Mick and he told me,

1:16:02

when I was on the stadium tour, I was not happy. Basically

1:16:05

everything was on tape. It was all planned

1:16:07

out and ultimately a lot of crap. And

1:16:09

Mick is a pretty good player. And so now let

1:16:12

him loose and play the way he wants to play.

1:16:14

That was never gonna work for him. The truth is everything

1:16:17

has been weird for a while with Motley Crue and

1:16:19

Mick didn't like everything that was on tape. Mick

1:16:21

told me that people would came to see

1:16:24

it and they could tell everything was prerecorded. And

1:16:26

so they, the interviewer

1:16:28

asked him, was he getting along with the rest of the man? He

1:16:30

said no he wasn't. He had his own means of travel and

1:16:33

travel alone on the bus while the other guys flew

1:16:35

everywhere. He said man these guys are pissing

1:16:37

their money away, flying to every gig. They're

1:16:39

all busy still trying to be rock stars and Mick

1:16:41

just wanted to play music. Mick wasn't interested in

1:16:44

wasting time and money flying everywhere. So

1:16:46

he traveled by bus. Their lifestyles

1:16:48

are different than his and so there were a lot of

1:16:50

disagreements. I think he was just done. They

1:16:52

were supposed to have done their last tour and

1:16:54

then they came back, they did the stadium tour and that was supposedly

1:16:57

gonna be the last. So when they came back again,

1:16:59

he said, you can do it. I'm not going out with

1:17:01

you for this. When you play

1:17:03

in a stadium like that, you can hear a lot of things come

1:17:05

to the monitors or what doesn't.

1:17:08

And Vince's vocals, bass, drums, guitars,

1:17:10

all the other stuff, it was obvious it was all on tape.

1:17:13

And Mick was pissed off and said, I can

1:17:15

play those things. I want to play them. I

1:17:17

don't want to make believe I'm playing them. So

1:17:19

I think one of the reasons why he said I'm done, sure,

1:17:21

the disease he has doesn't help, but it doesn't make

1:17:24

life easy on tour. but Mick can play

1:17:26

on the legs and

1:17:26

he was not allowed to. Yeah,

1:17:30

a lot to pick apart there, but I'm

1:17:32

convinced that Mick Mars is afraid of flying, but

1:17:35

I'll kick it to you before I say anymore. Is

1:17:37

this the one, because I always get the drummers confused,

1:17:39

that was behind us at the buffet? They

1:17:41

both were behind us, so yes. Right behind

1:17:43

us? He is the older one. This is Apasie,

1:17:47

or this is a piece, the other one's Apasie. Right,

1:17:49

okay.

1:17:50

So, first

1:17:53

I like the fact that we are portraying

1:17:55

portraying Mick Mars

1:17:57

is the John Madden of the

1:17:59

band.

1:18:00

And driving around his bus, he

1:18:02

doesn't like any planes. I like

1:18:04

the fact that he imagines that

1:18:06

one day that Mick looked

1:18:08

at the setup with the

1:18:11

audio guy and he found a Walkman with a tape

1:18:13

inside of it, hooked up, because I don't

1:18:15

think I've heard tape used. More than

1:18:17

any. Yeah, I

1:18:20

know what you're saying because it's funny, because obviously

1:18:22

it's not tape. I don't even know what he's saying.

1:18:24

That's all. I think he knew. I know what he's saying. And

1:18:27

there is one thing I'll call Bolshin on he's saying

1:18:29

that the

1:18:30

vocals are taped too. Yeah,

1:18:32

there we go. I can

1:18:34

just imagine, I always, we've gone to this many

1:18:36

times, but if they are not allowing

1:18:39

Mick Mars to be playing his solos, which I

1:18:41

think they were still, if

1:18:43

that's the case, I'd be like, fuck you, that

1:18:46

guy gets to go live and I'm

1:18:48

miming my solos here. So

1:18:51

I don't know, what do you have to say about it? It does

1:18:53

seem if there's anything that isn't

1:18:56

live, like you said, or is live,

1:18:58

it's sadly sadly Vince's vocals, the one thing they

1:19:00

probably should be putting on

1:19:02

tape, but it's

1:19:05

just whatever. And

1:19:07

I think we've mentioned before that

1:19:08

this is kind of a non-new

1:19:11

story because since 2014, Mick

1:19:14

has said himself that they use a ton of backing

1:19:16

tracks, even with the interview with Eddie Trunk. You

1:19:18

can go find that somewhere on YouTube. I think

1:19:20

I shared that with you. And

1:19:22

then Nicky, of course, he came back at

1:19:26

Appisie. He says, Love how people

1:19:28

talk for us without talking to

1:19:30

us. This is why the media has lost credibility.

1:19:34

Obviously, by printing BS, they make money off

1:19:36

of advertising and we're not

1:19:38

into that clickbait game. When the

1:19:41

truth comes out, it will be from us.

1:19:43

Now, just on that one alone, you

1:19:45

know how I feel about lazy

1:19:47

attacks at the media. It's like, you

1:19:50

know what? If

1:19:52

something's wrong, say it. What did the media

1:19:54

get wrong? All they reported was what

1:19:57

Carmine Apposy said. And yeah,

1:19:59

maybe someone needs to see. sit down Nikki Sixx

1:20:01

and say, it's the music

1:20:03

reporting business.

1:20:06

Yeah, guess what? They're trying to make money. Yeah,

1:20:08

so shock. To

1:20:10

me, it's only click bait in the sense of

1:20:12

people are interested. But you

1:20:15

can say Carmine's a liar.

1:20:18

None of that's true. Which, by

1:20:20

the way, not at all what he said. He says, this is why

1:20:22

the media has no credibility. No, Nikki,

1:20:25

this is why you have no fucking credibility. This

1:20:27

is not a denial in any sense. He

1:20:30

just basically, and then he goes on to call Carmine

1:20:32

washed up and Carmine says, well

1:20:34

at least this washed up musician can still play.

1:20:37

Uh, so, and, and Nikki recently said they want to

1:20:39

play for another

1:20:40

eight years. Whatever.

1:20:42

He wants to get the band to 50 like kiss.

1:20:46

Ah, okay. And he's like, fuck, it's super

1:20:49

easy. You know? Yeah. Just, uh, right.

1:20:52

Nobody has to learn any new stuff.

1:20:54

So yeah. You wonder like how much is John five

1:20:56

playing? If any of this is true, I dunno.

1:20:58

The thing that I find interesting about all this

1:21:01

is that

1:21:02

either Mick has signed

1:21:04

an agreement that he can't talk

1:21:07

or he never really did talk,

1:21:10

he never did interviews here and there, but it is interesting

1:21:13

that he just has said nothing about anything. He's

1:21:15

basically just vanished, didn't even say,

1:21:17

I don't even think, he didn't even have like a press release saying

1:21:19

goodbye. No, no, not really. You know what I mean?

1:21:22

Like any kind of thing. They kind of wrote his thing for

1:21:24

him. There was no quote from him. So

1:21:27

I mean, I'm sure

1:21:29

he's been disenchanted for a long time, but I

1:21:31

do think it's also weird. I

1:21:33

mean, they have to go on with their new thing, but it's

1:21:36

almost like they're celebrating the, they are thrilled,

1:21:38

so thrilled that John Five is in the band. It's

1:21:40

not even like a, like they changing their profile

1:21:42

picture. They're doing this. They're like, this is the best

1:21:45

ever. I mean, they got a hype new machine,

1:21:47

but to me it almost

1:21:49

seems like, because it is Nicky's band

1:21:52

that he's like, thank God we got, you

1:21:54

know what? You're saying that I'm your anchor

1:21:56

getting out in the morning? Maybe that Mick Mars was

1:21:58

their anchor. Thank you.

1:22:00

There might be some legitimacy there too,

1:22:02

but again, that's why you actually address these things.

1:22:04

You know what I mean? You don't just go yeah

1:22:07

typical media BS just trying to

1:22:09

make money

1:22:10

by reporting what was said. Yeah, sorry

1:22:12

that that bothers you but You could

1:22:14

be on to something. Yeah, we know going back to

1:22:16

the shout at the devil tour that they Tossed

1:22:19

the idea of Jakey Lee joining the band

1:22:22

and replacing Mick We've heard other people talk about

1:22:24

like you guys would be making them a mistake if you get rid

1:22:26

of Mick So there

1:22:28

probably was a lot of personality clashes

1:22:31

between the, it doesn't seem like Vince

1:22:33

is involved at all. It's just Tommy

1:22:36

and Nicky basically. And

1:22:38

yeah, maybe it's because

1:22:41

Nick is basically as old as their parents, there's

1:22:44

a generational thing there that they just never really clicked.

1:22:46

I don't know.

1:22:48

And also I just kind of see Nicky

1:22:50

as the guy in charge of HR. And

1:22:53

if you've ever had a What

1:22:56

you have to do is you have to build up paperwork and a

1:22:58

case against them. He's like, this motherfucker keeps

1:23:00

showing up. He keeps playing well. We

1:23:05

can't find a fireable fence for him. You

1:23:07

know what I mean? Like, for years or two. Yeah,

1:23:09

you never relate. Yeah. Talk

1:23:11

about a guy who shows up on time ready to go. His

1:23:13

guitar is tuned. Yeah.

1:23:16

He's like, this guy, he's, how could we get this

1:23:18

guy fired? I've been wanting to hire this John

1:23:20

Five guy for the last 20 years since I saw him

1:23:22

rob Zombie. Meanwhile, Tommy is tripping

1:23:25

down steps two weeks before tour.

1:23:27

Yeah, that's right. This guy can barely walk

1:23:29

and he's okay to play. Yeah.

1:23:32

This guy, I've been wanting to, this guy is complete.

1:23:34

Everybody else in the band is fireable all the

1:23:36

time. If you had a real job,

1:23:39

there's one good human in the band. It's

1:23:43

but we take

1:23:45

Tommy Lee out. Nobody shows up as much. They

1:23:47

all the drumming, the great drumming is gone

1:23:50

and they put on an album without Tommy Lee. But this McMars

1:23:52

motherfucker, nobody told us if he was gone the

1:23:55

next day.

1:23:56

I was actually more miffed at the fan

1:23:58

reaction and reminded me very much

1:24:00

of like Kiss fans when it's like, you

1:24:02

know what man, it's just not this, you know,

1:24:04

when Kiss brought Ace and Peter back, oh this is

1:24:06

the best, this is the way it was meant to be,

1:24:09

Kiss comes back with two guys dressed as Ace and

1:24:11

Peter, this is way better, they're better performing,

1:24:14

it's just like, just this gaslighting

1:24:16

thing, by the way, John Five is a better guitar player than

1:24:19

Mick Mars, I'm

1:24:21

not getting crazy here. But just

1:24:24

as a fan, I'd rather see Mick up there than

1:24:26

John Five, I'd rather see John Five and Rob Zombie.

1:24:29

I don't know. I just think contracts should have

1:24:31

been written better to say at least that guitar

1:24:33

strap for John Five has got to be lower. I mean,

1:24:35

I've never seen anything so... Get

1:24:37

him away from your tits. Cover up that crotch

1:24:40

area, man.

1:24:41

Jesus. It's gotta be the tit. Have some dignity,

1:24:43

man. The

1:24:44

guitar and tit ratio playing.

1:24:46

No, no, you got that wrong. And copyright

1:24:48

BACCO, guitar to crotch ratio

1:24:51

is off. Oh, is that what it is? Okay. Sorry,

1:24:53

I didn't know... GTCR. GTCR.

1:24:56

Yeah. Okay. Write

1:24:58

it down. Yeah, stop stealing my bits and

1:25:01

presenting them as original thought

1:25:03

That's

1:25:05

it we're done If

1:25:08

we if I can't keep doing that then we can't

1:25:11

work together All

1:25:13

right, let's call HR Nikki

1:25:18

We need to be have a

1:25:20

resolution here like I've said there's

1:25:22

there's nothing more that I enjoy than two

1:25:26

Old-ass rock stars yelling

1:25:28

at each other online. Yeah, what do you

1:25:30

think? What a bunch of them? What

1:25:33

a bunch of how bad is that to be to be an old man

1:25:35

yelling at another old man online?

1:25:38

Oh wait, yeah, it's kind of did I just describe

1:25:40

our show

1:25:41

pretty much. That's what I'm saying like all

1:25:43

I gotta say is Keep

1:25:45

it up guys. Yeah, we appreciate

1:25:47

it. Come on journey. Let's spice this shit up

1:25:51

Yeah, and what was the headlines

1:25:53

for those for that news article on alternative

1:25:55

news though? So,

1:25:57

like, I'm

1:25:59

trying to think of next. explosive shocking response

1:26:02

by a drummer. Yeah, Mickey Six breaks his

1:26:04

silence on McMahr's news. There

1:26:07

you go, perfect.

1:26:09

Shocking. Breaks silence. Mickey

1:26:11

Six breaks silence on shocking McMahr's

1:26:14

revelations.

1:26:16

All right, good, see we can work there.

1:26:18

Yeah. Make some extra cheddar. All

1:26:21

right, you wanna get out of here? Let's

1:26:23

get out of here, man. I'm tired. Please.

1:26:26

Ah, me too. Rock's not dead.

1:26:29

Just a little hungover from Nashville.

1:26:32

I was taught that I

1:26:34

approach

1:26:38

abandoned

1:27:04

ś We can sail away,

1:27:06

I catch a freight train ś ś Or

1:27:09

I can ship into outer

1:27:11

space ś ś Nothing left

1:27:14

to do, too many things to say ś

1:27:16

Never make it feel like yesterday
