Welcome to the Paradigm .

0:02

New Podcast . Hello

0:04

, this is Lisa Sainowski , co-host

0:06

of the Paradigm New Podcast , and in this

0:08

week's episode I get April

0:10

to step way outside of her comfort

0:13

zone , and in doing so , we

0:15

have a whole lot of fun banter and

0:17

takeaways waiting for you

0:19

. So go ahead and pull up a chair , sit down

0:21

with us and enjoy our friendly banter

0:24

as you get to equally

0:26

explore what's coming up for you in your

0:28

life .

0:29

You're listening to the Paradigm New Podcast

0:31

. You're about to start transforming your life by

0:34

growing your mind and expanding your paradigms . Here

0:36

we'll cover real life topics , just

0:38

like the stuff you'd share with a good friend . This podcast

0:41

will serve up topics that weigh on our hearts and

0:43

keep us up at night , Whether it's navigating parenthood

0:45

and becoming an adult , or wayfinding , personal

0:47

development , marriage and money . You , my

0:49

friend , are in the right place . I'm glad

0:51

you're here .

0:53

Okay , we are back for

0:55

another weekly podcast

0:57

. Welcome to the Paradigm New Podcast . Today

1:00

you get to hear from Lisa and I

1:02

, and we are going to do something that is

1:04

totally out of my comfort zone . We're going to let

1:06

Lisa take the lead on this one .

1:09

I wish y'all could have saw her face when I

1:11

even brought up this idea of

1:14

this podcast today . First of all , it

1:16

is so great to be back with you , apes . So

1:18

today's outside April's

1:20

comfort zone is simply

1:22

a conversation amongst friends . It's

1:24

going to be great . We get caught up in the hustle

1:26

and bustle of life as moms as the

1:28

beginning of the school year is upon us

1:31

, the stress

1:33

and the inevitable burnout can be real

1:35

. So we thought , especially after the launch of

1:37

the first podcast , we've been getting a lot

1:39

of questions about our relationship

1:42

and what we do every day

1:44

or how we talk . It was . I got some really

1:46

fun questions and I thought okay

1:48

, well , pretend that you're sitting down

1:50

at this table with us and

1:52

we're just going to chat . We're just going to have a friendly

1:55

chat . And this is so outside of April's comfort

1:57

zone , because April is a

1:59

massive achiever and

2:01

a massive doer . So learning

2:03

how to undo and simply

2:06

be , which is part of all of our journeys

2:08

, of course , but April's

2:10

next level , with doing y'all . You

2:12

didn't know that yet and

2:14

I don't know what that look is oh

2:17

yeah , I'm totally sweating .

2:19

Oh good , Okay great , my back is going , neck is hot

2:22

. Maybe it's hormones , maybe

2:24

it's just the discomfort , but

2:27

yes , I've actually gotten this message a couple

2:29

times this week . I've gotten

2:31

the hint that I need to

2:33

just be present and

2:35

just chill and actually

2:37

enjoy life instead of constantly being

2:39

in the doing and I tend to

2:42

be a doer , as Lisa said

2:44

. Interestingly , when Lisa said

2:46

we should have a conversation and

2:48

riff back and forth and allow

2:50

people to get to know us , I was like what

2:53

, what , what , what

2:56

should I say ? But I will

2:58

say this one thing and then I will

3:00

at least take the lead , because this is out of my comfort

3:02

zone . I went to a yoga class earlier

3:04

this week and I walked

3:06

away from that class just

3:08

angry . I was

3:10

so upset and just so feeling

3:13

lost that I asked the instructor

3:15

after class if she could call

3:17

me , and so she called

3:19

me later that day and she's like what's

3:21

going on ? And I obviously

3:24

she knows nothing about what she's walking into .

3:28

And I said I know , right .

3:29

You don't know what you're going to talk with April about

3:31

most days if you talk to me . But I said

3:34

you know I went to class

3:36

and I felt really lost in

3:38

my yoga practice lately because

3:40

I have had a shoulder injury and

3:43

when I go to a lot of my favorite classes

3:45

that used to be in the past I can't do some of the

3:47

things because I can feel the pain and

3:50

I know that I shouldn't push , but I tend to

3:52

just want to overdo and just

3:54

keep pushing , even though it's painful and

3:56

I'm feeling lost in my yoga practice

3:58

. But equally , I know that yoga is what gets

4:02

me centered and takes good care of me . And

4:05

she said April , you are a go-getter

4:07

in every area of life . I've watched

4:09

you in yoga for years and anytime

4:11

I give a modification like try this

4:13

, you will fall flat on your face

4:16

just trying it . And she's like

4:18

but when what your practice is

4:20

right now is to allow

4:22

yourself to not have to do and

4:25

just be , she's

4:27

like just breathe and just be present and

4:29

to listen to whatever it is that you

4:31

need , because what I need is

4:34

different than the person next to me on a different

4:36

mat .

4:36

Yeah , absolutely .

4:37

You guys , I started like getting choked up

4:40

and I just was like celebrating

4:42

the , the reality that she's spot

4:45

on , but also like I

4:48

should have known that because I'm a go-getter .

4:51

Did you then go home to like make yourself

4:53

a whole strategy and list of all the things to

4:55

not do ?

4:57

No , I just I decided to just bask in it

4:59

and be grateful that I had a yoga instructor

5:01

who was willing to be that honest and just speak

5:03

from the , the cuff you know

5:05

just this is what her observations

5:08

are . And then I decided the next

5:10

day to go to another yoga class with somebody different

5:12

and to just have that in the back of my head

5:14

and I had permacrylate that entire next class

5:16

because I decided to just be

5:19

in the moment and just to be really , really happy

5:21

. Wow , yeah

5:23

it was .

5:24

Yeah , that's huge for you , congratulations

5:27

, thank you . You said something

5:29

you said actually reminds me

5:31

a lot of our relationship and friendship

5:33

, because , first of all , that yoga

5:36

instructor high fives to her . I just

5:38

I want to hug her . That's sage advice

5:40

and radically intuitive . But

5:43

also being willing to be the voice

5:45

of challenge in someone's

5:47

life , man

5:49

, that's an interesting role , because I'm here

5:51

to tell you and I'm sure you've experienced this

5:53

too but a lot of people don't want to be challenged

5:56

, they just want their worldview , they

5:58

want to complain , they want

6:00

to stay in their circumstance , they want

6:03

their shoulder to keep hurting but to still do

6:05

every single yoga pose . And

6:07

so you've always challenged me , you

6:10

always asked me questions and made

6:12

me actually ponder and think . In

6:14

fact , part of the impetus for

6:16

our conversation today was because , even

6:19

just on our last podcast episode , I learned something

6:21

about you and I thought we have these

6:23

deep , very deep

6:25

conversations constantly as

6:28

friends and there's still so much

6:30

I don't know . Bam .

6:32

Yeah , that's the cool part , right , you

6:34

get to peel back different parts of the layer of

6:37

the onion Seriously , and

6:39

I think if you're willing to ask the

6:41

hard questions and go deep with somebody

6:43

, then you can learn a lot of things . But sometimes

6:45

that means that we're missing the basic stuff .

6:48

Ooh for sure , like hydration Do

6:51

we got a timer coming up April , oh gosh yeah

6:53

.

6:54

But let's just , you guys can't see this , but I'm going to show Lisa

6:56

that's fair . I got my version

6:59

of that energy drink . Yeah

7:01

, I have from anybody who

7:03

knows me really well that

7:05

one of my biggest hurdles is getting off of

7:07

caffeine and I live on energy drinks

7:09

. And I embraced energy drinks a couple of years ago

7:11

when I gave up soda because I said

7:13

it was a habit and addiction

7:16

. It was huge . I was consuming

7:18

a lot of sugar but interestingly

7:20

, I just swapped it out with energy drinks

7:22

and I told myself that's better . I don't

7:25

think it's actually better , but

7:27

if you say I don't , want to talk about energy soda .

7:29

There you go , there you go , one step at a time . Next

7:32

up is going to be like the healthy , healthiest

7:34

biohacking versions of energy drinks

7:36

.

7:37

Yeah , Lisa gets me into those sometimes . If

7:39

you want biohacking advice , that would be Lisa

7:41

. If you want to talk to somebody

7:44

about habits that burn

7:46

you out , talk to April .

7:50

Well , yes , I think we both are good at both

7:52

.

7:53

I'm sure , yeah , so Lisa wanted

7:55

to introduce

7:57

listeners to both of us in our

7:59

relationships . So , lisa , what would you like to talk about today

8:02

?

8:03

Oh , what I like to talk about today . I

8:05

have an empty house . I have

8:07

no husband and no kids

8:10

in my house for the entire weekend . Do you

8:12

know how rare ? I don't know if this I'm

8:15

trying , I'm literally racking my brain . I don't know

8:17

if this has ever happened before , maybe once

8:19

before . And

8:23

so it's the quiet that

8:25

you always want , and then the quiet

8:27

that you also loathe

8:30

as a mom . I don't know about you , but I'm

8:32

like I just want some peace and quiet . And then

8:34

the second the kids are gone . I'm like I just want to

8:36

be with my kid Yep .

8:38

What is that ? We do the same thing .

8:41

Yes . So no , it's been . It's

8:43

been great . I'm learning a lot about myself

8:46

in the season of life , being in a house alone

8:49

, and what I'm choosing to do and

8:51

, most importantly , what I'm choosing not to do . It's

8:53

been very fun .

8:55

Well , you can't just leave us hanging

8:57

. What are you doing and what are you not doing ? Because

9:00

now I just want to be a fly on the wall and be like

9:02

what's Lisa doing with all this free time

9:04

?

9:05

Right , I want to say I knocked

9:07

out all these amazing trainings

9:09

and I've been doing yoga , I'm meditating

9:12

and I want to be able to say all that . You know what I did

9:14

? I did some online

9:16

home day core shopping because I got a party

9:18

coming up for my son and I don't know about

9:20

you , but before a party I kind of go into

9:22

, I want to fix certain things in my house mode or

9:25

just upgrade them rather . So

9:27

I did that . But then I did something that

9:29

I affectionately refer to as puttering

9:32

just kind of walk around

9:34

my house and put things away or

9:36

reorganize things . I really like

9:38

to organize things . So

9:40

I did a little bit of that . And then I did a whole

9:43

lot of binging TV , which I

9:45

don't even really like . So

9:47

I knew my body just needed , my

9:50

body and mind almost just needed a total

9:52

time out . So

9:55

that was interesting and very cleansing , because I was

9:57

watching a show called the mentalist

9:59

. Have you ever watched that show ? No , I was

10:01

going to ask what are you watching , Girl ? Okay , so

10:04

it's an older show and it's because my , my , our

10:06

family really likes psych . Psych

10:09

is a an older show as well , but it's

10:11

a detective murder

10:13

mystery kind of comedy . It's

10:15

actually very , very funny . In my opinion . Mentalist

10:18

is a is a riff on that , except that

10:21

one is a little little bit darker

10:23

, and so it was

10:25

nice to be able to cry and kind of move

10:27

the emotions out . I don't know about

10:29

you , but sometimes I need to just cry

10:32

. And

10:34

now I have a whole weekend scheduled of

10:36

fabulous work . So

10:39

yeah , getting back into

10:41

work with you and mapping

10:43

things out and copywriting

10:45

and all the fun stuff , oh

10:47

, wait , are you giving a hint

10:50

to what we're doing ?

10:52

No , Okay . I

10:54

was like , did you just give that away on a ?

10:56

podcast . No , I would never

10:58

. I would never . This is all censored . Can

11:00

we just edit that out ?

11:03

Lucky for you , I have very

11:05

little patience when it comes to editing , so no

11:07

, it's in , oh good .

11:09

Copywriting is a very general term . Okay

11:11

, Social media posts , newsletters

11:13

, you know all those things we're doing some fun

11:16

stuff that listeners get the first

11:18

look at , apparently .

11:21

Well , whoever's listening to this episode

11:23

. You guys get to know well before

11:25

anyone else . I think that's very cool , thanks

11:28

, what about you ?

11:30

What are you up to this fabulous Friday ? Oh

11:33

, that's a good question .

11:35

Yes , we are recording on a Friday . I'm

11:39

navigating a lot of emotional

11:41

stuff . So we were on vacation last week

11:43

and came back to a lot

11:46

of chaos , and if you can relate

11:48

to this question of

11:50

when you go on a vacation , then you come back to a

11:52

lot like almost like a

11:55

mountain of stuff You're

11:57

like was that vacation actually worth it

11:59

? Yeah , this past week has been playing

12:01

catch up and the interesting thing is , when I planned

12:03

my summer , I planned a vacation

12:06

a week back to get caught up and

12:08

then another vacation right before the kids went

12:10

back to school , and so I had to have this

12:12

like heart to heart with my husband

12:14

and say do we actually want to take

12:16

the second vacation or will it make all

12:18

of us crazy ? And it was going

12:20

to be a . It was a waterfall

12:23

hunting trip that we were going on and

12:25

a good friend of ours had given us what

12:28

he affectionately calls the don't go chasing

12:31

roadmap . I

12:33

love that . I love that roadmap yeah , he's

12:35

got it saved as a Google trip and he

12:37

sent me the whole waterfall vacation

12:40

and so we were going to follow his route , which

12:42

I think it . I think he said , is it Bob Dylan

12:45

? He had taken this route and

12:47

wrote a lot of their songs that are very

12:49

like well known songs , and so we were going to

12:51

go do this . And then we had a heart to heart with our

12:53

whole family and we're like we can't do this , this is too much

12:56

. We we have a handful of different

12:58

businesses that are all experiencing

13:00

growth at the same time , and it was

13:02

just irresponsible . So we played , grown

13:05

up and realized that we couldn't go on vacation . How

13:07

are the kids ? Well , we asked the kids

13:09

we're like do you guys care ? And they're like that's cool

13:11

. We have a bajillion waterfalls

13:14

in our neighbor , like in , we

13:16

live in Wisconsin , so in the Midwest it's

13:18

you can get a waterfall within 20 minutes

13:20

. So they're like we'll just go to a different waterfall

13:23

and I'm like that's cool that they can pivot

13:25

and they're not attached . So then I asked them what do you guys

13:27

want to do ? And you know

13:29

, I thought they would want these like elaborate

13:31

, amazing things to do before school starts

13:33

and they all have really simple things . Oh

13:36

, we are going to do really simple like

13:38

like what . Oh

13:41

well , my

13:43

son wanted to go golfing Awesome

13:45

. My youngest wants to go to a splash

13:47

pad , which , interestingly , I realize we've not gone

13:49

to a splash pad all year , which

13:52

, in my mind , is not an earth

13:54

shattering thing and probably why we've never

13:56

done it this year . And my oldest

13:58

just wants to go to this like theme

14:01

park , that is , like the old

14:03

school theme park .

14:05

Oh , I know what you're talking about .

14:06

Yeah , they're , like you know , just really old

14:08

school , like you're like do you guys carry

14:10

insurance on that , Like on that

14:12

ride , that's right , I'm not

14:15

really going to watch my kids go in there .

14:16

Hold on .

14:18

I'm sure we all have health insurance before

14:20

we go on that one .

14:22

Let's just say we're homeless .

14:24

Yeah , so we're going to just do that . And

14:26

then the other part that I am really excited

14:29

about is I aspire

14:32

to be a hippie gardener and farmer , and

14:34

so I'm going to go play with my honeybees this weekend

14:37

and my

14:39

I've been growing lavender and lemongrass

14:41

and it is all in full swing

14:43

, and it's so cool when you pull off a piece

14:45

of lemongrass and you like crush it in your hands

14:48

. Yeah , awesome , and I had no idea

14:50

. So I'm like going to

14:52

Google what to do with it ?

14:53

Oh , you know , make like some tea or something . What

14:56

are you going to do with it all ?

14:57

We make a lot of tea with the lavender , but I've

14:59

never done anything with the lemongrass , so we'll see . Cool

15:02

, that's the game plan .

15:03

I love it . See , you got to have a plan . That's

15:08

the game plan . But you know what

15:10

I love about that is you role

15:12

model to your kids . Boundaries , you're willing

15:14

to step up and say no to

15:17

certain things by saying yes to you , and

15:19

your kids already are just so resilient

15:21

, and I think it equally role models

15:23

what we're discussing today of of

15:26

there's ease in just simply being present

15:29

and asking the other person what do you want to do

15:31

? And just we really

15:33

can over complicate things as parents . Yeah

15:37

, I know I can . Like you have to have these major

15:39

grand experiences and really kids

15:42

want to be loved and they want some attention and

15:44

to be heard like anybody else .

15:47

Right , yeah , you know when

15:50

you said that , the piece about boundaries

15:52

, it's interesting . I had a client yesterday who was talking

15:54

about how they are struggling with

15:56

establishing boundaries and how everybody's

15:59

priority list seems to be taking over their

16:01

priority list . And so actually

16:03

, yeah , so when you're saying that I'm like , yes

16:05

, I'm hearing that a lot this week . And the other

16:07

thing that you said that I'm hearing

16:09

a lot from people actually I think I've heard it every

16:12

day this week from a client is this

16:14

idea of the hard questions

16:16

?

16:17

So when you're talking about the yoga instructor who like

16:19

?

16:19

yeah out on some stuff . I

16:22

didn't love that experience in

16:25

being vulnerable , but what she gave

16:27

me is a gift of that awareness

16:29

that I was missing that blind spot . But

16:32

it's really fun when I can do that for other people

16:34

and I've had a lot of those this week that are just saying

16:36

thank you for asking me a hard question

16:39

, because I had that idea or thought

16:41

in my head but I couldn't actually

16:43

put it to words or one of

16:45

them . She was saying she's like

16:47

I just I'm glad you asked those

16:50

hard questions , because it feels more like a therapy

16:52

session and you were asking

16:54

me the things that would push me to that next level

16:56

, which most people just want to be gentle and

16:59

ask the hard questions . So sometimes

17:01

it's hard to ask those hard questions or to call

17:03

things out , but I think that it's a really cool

17:05

gift if you have somebody in your world that could do that and

17:08

I know absolutely no .

17:09

I think that's really great . And one of the

17:11

things I started to say , even in my coaching

17:14

sessions , is is it okay for me to ask you a

17:16

tough question right now ? In other words , are

17:18

you open to it ? And

17:21

I've yet to hear anyone say no . And

17:23

then when I do , it's pretty

17:25

fun . But man , being on the receiving end of that question

17:28

to your point , I remember sitting in the seat and

17:30

a coach looking at me and

17:32

she just stared me down a mentor

17:34

of mine and I thought , oh

17:37

, just from the look , I was a

17:40

little unprepared . And she ends

17:42

up saying a curse

17:45

word bowl , fill

17:47

in the blank . And she just looks at me Nope

17:50

, that's not your reason , what's

17:53

the real reason ? And I thought

17:55

, oh , and

17:57

so digging deep . And what's funny to

18:00

your point is I was able to bring that to

18:02

a couple of sessions later and everyone

18:05

you know . So be willing to ask yourself the

18:07

hard questions for those listening and be willing to

18:09

be that friend and equally

18:11

cloud the conversation . Right , because

18:13

some people aren't in the mood for that question

18:16

, some people don't want to be challenged . Maybe

18:18

it's just that particular moment , maybe it's just ever

18:20

, but yeah , hooray

18:23

for hard questions . I'm

18:26

forgetting outside of comfort zones , apes , that's

18:28

you today . How are you feeling ?

18:30

I'm still sweaty , seriously Maybe it

18:32

is hormonal , I don't know . You're

18:35

almost cold too . I do run cold

18:37

. I actually had my space heater on earlier

18:39

today . With the air conditioning on All

18:42

summer long I tend to live in sweaters and

18:44

pants and space heaters in

18:46

my house , but yesterday

18:48

was what ? 100 and some degree . Oh , four

18:50

degrees , so maybe yeah , maybe

18:53

it's not hormones , although I do feel like

18:55

I'm navigating some grown-up

18:57

adventures these days .

18:59

Yeah , oh yeah , for sure

19:01

. I just read that having

19:03

itchy hands and feet is hormonal

19:05

related . Really yeah , because

19:08

I had a woman reach out to me about that and

19:10

I thought , oh , that's interesting , all

19:14

these fun little tips and takeaways Very interesting

19:16

.

19:16

Yeah , yeah , I've had

19:18

a lot of people . I'd be interested actually to know what you

19:20

think about this and for listeners

19:22

, I feel like , if you're like , what

19:25

are you guys even talking about ? I just am really curious

19:27

to hear what Lisa says about this one . So I'm going to ask in

19:29

a moment . I've heard some people say in

19:31

the last week or so that they feel like the energy

19:33

is really funky . They've all

19:36

. I've had people text me or

19:38

different people in my life , or even a couple clients

19:40

. Actually , the phone call I had right before this

19:42

they were saying to something feel off

19:45

this week and I

19:47

said , well , I thought it was just me because

19:49

I was getting back from vacation . But

19:52

I've heard it so many times that I'm like I wonder

19:54

if there's something energetically and

19:56

I'm wondering do you know anything about that ?

19:59

I know a little bit . Yeah , first

20:02

of all , I love that people are making

20:04

those connections , because I think so often we

20:06

can just run

20:09

a script in our head that I'm just tired , I haven't slept

20:11

well , school's coming up , I'm stressed , but really

20:13

there's bigger energy

20:15

in our world and universe . The energies

20:17

are pretty intense right now just from solar

20:20

flares and other things happening , but

20:22

we also just got into Mercury

20:24

retrograde .

20:26

Oh , no way , yes Was it .

20:28

Today it

20:32

was the 23rd is when it kicked off

20:34

. No way , and

20:36

I , so some of your people

20:38

that you were maybe connected to if they started feeling

20:41

off a few days before . That's

20:43

how I am . I'm always early with Mercury

20:45

and then early on the back

20:47

end too , like I get out of it sooner but I

20:49

also get into it sooner . So I

20:52

would . For all of those

20:54

that believe are feeling an energetic

20:56

misalignment

20:59

right now , it could possibly be Mercury retrograde

21:02

. I tend to not sleep well during it , so

21:04

that's also a belief structure that I need

21:06

to equally work through . Right , I

21:08

know these things , but equally , last night I was

21:10

like no one's in my house . It's quiet

21:13

. Why am I not sleeping ?

21:15

No , interesting , okay . So yeah , I

21:17

do need you to explain for people who are unfamiliar

21:19

with what Mercury and retrograde

21:22

is . I do want you to explain that

21:24

. And then I also needed to share the

21:26

sleeping part . For the last

21:29

few days of this week , I haven't been able

21:31

to sleep . I thought that it was

21:33

hormonal , and this is where I

21:35

think I'm in a weird dance , because I'm learning a lot

21:37

about my hormones and I'm also

21:39

learning about the energies

21:41

and just the universe in general

21:44

and how those two things dance

21:46

with me . And so

21:48

sometimes I'm like I have no clue , but I hadn't

21:50

been sleeping in , so I was joking . The other day I'm like I'm

21:52

gonna take a melatonin and a

21:55

magnesium .

21:58

Have you ever tried the homeopathy , the

22:00

Born brand ? That's the only

22:02

thing that works for me . Yeah , I would

22:04

check those out and we can maybe

22:07

link just to the website in

22:09

the show notes , but those are available . Amazon

22:11

Whole Foods , a co-op close

22:14

to you , and it helps us . Yeah

22:17

, there's different versions of it . So it really depends

22:19

on your unique systems and what potentially

22:21

is blocking you . So it's a moment in time

22:23

to read through the

22:26

. They're called remedies . Each individual

22:28

quote unquote medicines . But it's just homeopathy

22:31

. Just works with your body's natural chemistry

22:33

. They're all herbs and natural things

22:35

and

22:38

you take them . They're little pellets

22:40

, but the

22:42

way you select which one works

22:44

best for you is you just read the little descriptor

22:47

. So , for example , the one I take

22:49

for sleep is because my mind will spin

22:51

a lot at night and it's so . It calms the mind

22:53

. But there's other sleep aids

22:56

for only thinking of work

22:58

or other things

23:00

. So I would check those out Super

23:02

interesting . Okay , can you ?

23:04

explain what Mercury in retrograde is . Just

23:06

in case my mom is listening to this podcast

23:09

and she's like what are you ? Two yo-yos talking

23:11

about .

23:12

Yes , so Mercury is

23:15

a period of about three weeks and

23:17

Mercury is known as the planet of communication

23:19

and it appears to be rotating backwards

23:22

due to its proximity

23:24

to Earth , but it's actually not doing

23:27

that , so it's an optical illusion and what that

23:29

does energetically is it

23:31

tends to mess

23:33

up our communication . So

23:36

if you're right now in a season

23:38

of life or you notice like man

23:40

, I'm getting in more fights with my work colleague

23:43

or my partner or my kids or my

23:45

kid's teacher , whomever it could

23:47

possibly be because the energies right now

23:49

are off , If you can't

23:52

log into Zoom or anything like

23:54

I've been having challenges with , that's

23:56

a reason . There are people that go

23:58

so far as to say you should not travel

24:00

during Mercury retrograde , because it tends

24:03

to be when most like airline

24:05

flights get canceled or delayed

24:08

and things like that as well . So

24:11

I just I know it's super crazy , and so

24:13

I just encourage people to look into it and

24:16

just map out when the dates are and pay attention to

24:18

how you're feeling . I know like I don't sleep

24:20

well . My son doesn't sleep well , but my daughter

24:22

sleeps great , so that's

24:24

also kind of interesting to take

24:27

into account .

24:28

Cool things to notice and then to teach them when

24:30

they're older so that they have that awareness

24:32

right .

24:33

Yeah .

24:34

Hey guys , this is what I noticed when you were a kid . You

24:37

know it's so interesting . You say that earlier this

24:39

week I had an employee whose computer literally

24:42

just wouldn't even turn on . And

24:44

they work from home and they called and they're like , seriously

24:46

, it just won't even turn on . This was a brand

24:49

new computer , like a month old , and I'm like

24:51

you've got to be kidding me . And then today

24:53

I had a meeting this morning and

24:55

my computer just froze and

24:58

the funny part was I didn't realize it because

25:00

I was in a Word document and so I was like , well

25:02

, I was in like a Google Docs but I was like just typing

25:04

and that part was working . But I kept

25:06

glancing down because I knew I had a meeting in a few minutes

25:08

. The clock never changed . And

25:11

then I didn't realize that everything else had

25:13

frozen , until I went to click on another thing and

25:15

all the other windows were all frozen . It

25:18

was the strangest thing . And then I had to like

25:20

power down and I couldn't figure out how to power

25:22

. It was just , it was funny , just a glitch in

25:24

the matrix .

25:25

It's kind of what it is . That's so fascinating .

25:27

Okay , so if you're listening to this podcast

25:29

, we are recording this on Friday

25:32

, the 25th , so this podcast

25:34

will come out in a couple

25:37

of days , but that means that pay attention

25:39

to where your life was last week

25:41

in particular , and if you notice any of that , but you

25:43

said it's a three week window , so potentially

25:45

, as this podcast comes out , people may be experiencing

25:48

it still .

25:49

Yeah , for sure it's supposed to go through , I believe

25:51

, the date of September 15th so

25:53

cool , yeah , and

25:55

so like traffic may be more intense

25:58

, there might be

26:00

just more misunderstandings , and

26:03

some people go so far as to say

26:05

don't sign contracts or start anything

26:07

really big and new during this timeframe . So

26:10

it is something to just explore and to create

26:13

a belief system and pattern that works

26:15

for you .

26:16

So cool , yeah . So I

26:18

feel like that kind of stuff can stress

26:20

people out , myself included . So I just

26:22

have to share with you and for anybody who's listening

26:24

? Well , if you're stressed like I

26:26

, get stressed out if my computer and I can't log

26:29

in or something is working .

26:30

Yeah , yeah .

26:30

Like I was on a phone call earlier today and it kept hanging

26:33

like clicking out yeah , and

26:35

I actually was joking , I was like I wonder if it's

26:37

something with Mercury , but never

26:39

took the time to actually look at all . I

26:42

know enough to just talk a good game . You

26:45

caught me , but I actually am not in

26:47

a practice of looking it up and

26:49

actually knowing when it happens . But I do want to tell

26:51

you this because I don't know if I shared this with you . But

26:53

when I get stressed , I'd love

26:56

to hear what you do when you get stressed . But when I get stressed

26:58

lately what I've been doing is

27:00

I've been popping in a gratitude

27:03

hypnosis track in my ears

27:05

Because I've realized that

27:07

when I get stressed I go into all of these habits

27:09

that if you've listened to the podcast for a while , you

27:12

probably heard my talk about my red flags

27:14

or habits or things that don't serve me . But

27:18

what I've been trying to do is catch that

27:20

really soon and what I've found is

27:22

that if I focus on being grateful

27:24

that it helps me to overcome

27:26

that quicker . And so Leigh I got to

27:28

tell you this , going into our vacation

27:31

the whole week before I was feeling a little

27:33

stressed , trying to get everything done before we

27:35

left , so I chose to listen to

27:37

a gratitude is the attitude

27:39

podcast . I'm not podcast

27:41

hypnosis track . Every day

27:44

leading up to it I seriously

27:46

was having the best days ever

27:48

.

27:49

You were . I remember talking to you . I

27:51

was like , wow , this is like a magical

27:53

vacation Even , yeah .

27:55

So we were with our extended family and everybody

27:57

kept saying you're in a really good mood and

27:59

I'm like holy crap , who is that person

28:01

? Yeah , Beyond , just

28:04

over friendly and like golden

28:06

retriever who just wants to tackle , hug you . I

28:09

couldn't stop smiling and I found

28:11

that to be really helpful , and so the other day I was feeling

28:13

stressed again , so I popped it in again and it just

28:15

shifted it . It's so cool . What do you

28:17

do when you're stressed ?

28:19

Well , first of all , awareness

28:22

is always what's going to make you find what works for

28:24

you , right , and then testing and figuring out what does

28:26

and then actually doing it . And

28:29

I hope we have

28:31

a podcast sometime about habits , right , Because

28:34

habit coaching is such a huge

28:36

industry and there's so much great stuff going on

28:38

there . But there's also some big gaps

28:40

, and what you really dialed into

28:42

there was more identity stuff and how you're

28:45

reframing and retraining your brain , which

28:47

is super cool , and we can geek out on that in

28:49

a different day . Me when I'm stressed

28:51

, I withdraw and

28:55

I get quiet , and

28:58

so when I can't get that , I get more stressed

29:00

. So this weekend is such a gift

29:03

to have the quiet , which is

29:05

why in the beginning , when I shared

29:07

, it's so almost unnerving

29:09

. I think my

29:11

nervous system is just trying to catch up and

29:13

to just say you're safe . I

29:16

basically created the exact environment that I needed

29:18

and wanted . So now enjoy

29:20

it and don't fight it

29:23

so much . But I definitely withdraw

29:25

and I get quiet . If I have to

29:27

, I'll leave the house and go on a walk , but

29:29

living in a city , that's not always the

29:31

most relaxing

29:33

of walks , unless I get to the lake , which

29:36

is always very restorative . I'd

29:39

love to tell you my journal and I do

29:41

all these amazing things , but I

29:43

really don't Sure . I

29:46

think there's great opportunity there and

29:48

I love your , go for a run . Oh

29:52

my gosh , if you can get me to be a runner , I

29:54

think the world really will end .

29:57

Okay , for anybody who is listening , if you've

29:59

ever gone for a run to like , just

30:02

work through some stuff . It's a game changer

30:04

, I'm telling you , elise , it's awful

30:06

.

30:06

I hear this a lot in my head . I'm

30:09

a total runner and I'm part of that group and

30:11

I total in them . Just I get out there and my

30:13

yeah , this is , I need a purpose

30:15

to run . Put a basketball in my

30:17

hand . I got you .

30:20

I'm not going to just run , to run , I'll walk

30:22

.

30:22

I'll walk , I'll be your shadow

30:25

.

30:26

That's interesting . You say that . Did you know

30:28

that years

30:30

ago I recorded an entire series

30:33

of this podcast called Walk With Me series ?

30:36

I do remember that Is that where the fox

30:38

came out .

30:40

Oh gosh , I don't even remember . It

30:42

was about that same time of life , yeah . But

30:45

, it was so interesting because I did these really

30:47

short , like eight minute-ish , like just

30:49

topics , and I

30:51

had so many people who started

30:54

walking because of that series

30:56

. It's so fun when I

30:58

get to hear people . They're like you know , you're the one who started

31:00

me on these like little walks , and now I

31:02

walk and I listen to the podcast . I'm like

31:05

, oh , that's really cool . So

31:07

you're really cool . Well , thanks

31:09

, I feel you like you are too . But

31:11

okay , so I'm realizing that we've been bantering

31:14

for a while . And I didn't realize

31:16

that this would just when you suggested

31:19

that we introduce ourselves and talk

31:21

with people and and

31:23

just let a friend just sit at the table with us , I

31:25

was like what ? Are we going to talk about . Clearly , we

31:28

had no trouble .

31:29

No , none , and I hope people felt

31:31

like they were here with us . I mean , this is truly

31:33

, if I call you or you call me , this

31:35

is how our conversations tend to go .

31:38

Yeah , all over the place , all

31:40

over the place also good challenges

31:42

Right .

31:43

We all . We walk away with some good outcomes

31:45

and a whole lot of love .

31:46

Yeah .

31:49

I love you girl , back at you .

31:52

So thank you to anyone who was

31:54

listening and indulging in

31:57

our education on Mercury

31:59

in retrograde .

32:00

Absolutely Tell us how it affects

32:03

you . I am really curious because it really

32:05

does affect other everybody differently . But

32:07

yeah , please leave a note .

32:10

Yeah , we'd love to hear that .

32:12

For sure .

32:13

Anything else that's like weighing on your heart or on

32:15

your mind that you'd like to talk about this week .

32:18

I'm just so proud of you for jumping outside of your comfort

32:20

zone in front of everyone .

32:22

That's so cool , just riffing

32:24

. This is great , thank you , thanks

32:26

Back at you . You

32:28

know , for those of you who are just joining us and maybe new to

32:30

the podcast , lisa joined

32:32

last week was her first

32:35

one and although she she

32:37

was very gracious when I first started this podcast

32:40

because I was like , who will talk to me

32:42

on a podcast ? And she's like , I'll do it , I

32:44

got you girl and so she was really generous

32:46

years ago . Last week was

32:48

the really the first one and it was really fun , but

32:50

it was . I mean , it was a new step

32:53

in that direction for both of us , so

32:55

it really was out of our comfort zone

32:57

.

32:58

Both . Yeah , it

33:00

last week was so wild A

33:02

lot of things to process , and

33:05

so I was definitely outside of my comfort zone last week .

33:07

And you got a lot of feedback , which was pretty

33:09

fun to hear about some of the people that have reached

33:11

out to you and said different things . So , yeah

33:14

, you know , if anybody is needing a little nudge

33:16

on stepping out of their comfort zone , whatever that

33:18

looks like , we will

33:20

. We will step out of our comfort zone right

33:23

there , with you Doing it in real time . I'm

33:25

literally sweating . So

33:27

I'm just going to say but

33:30

seriously , I think that you know , when you

33:32

step out of your comfort zone you start to wobble a

33:35

little bit , but that's how you , that's where the growth

33:37

happens .

33:38

Yeah , yeah . So it assumes

33:40

that people listening do want to grow , right

33:42

, yeah , yeah , yeah . I mean I think we've had

33:45

that conversation before as well . So , um

33:47

, yeah , enjoy the journey , enjoy the growth

33:50

and stick around with us . Stick around

33:52

the table , we'd love to chat with you more .

33:54

Yeah , lisa's going to be working on some stuff this weekend

33:56

that she can't wait to roll up for you , that's

33:58

right In all good time .

34:00

No spoilers .

34:01

No spoilers at all , all right . Well

34:04

, on that note , lisa , thank you so much for

34:06

this week's podcast to everyone who's listening

34:09

. We are just so grateful for you and

34:11

we hope that you go out and make it an incredible

34:13

week . What do you think , lisa ? Any last thoughts

34:15

?

34:16

No , go . Go , make your impact and be yourself

34:18

. It's the best thing we can do .

34:21

Yes , absolutely All right . Well

34:24

, I like to close the podcast with a saying that I've said for a really long

34:26

time . I've said this since the beginning

34:28

, because the podcast used to be in

34:30

a theme tied to a

34:33

bar that I own . So I would say cheers

34:35

to good karma . It's closing time and

34:38

I have to tell you , lisa , because now that you're part of this , I

34:41

feel like maybe we need to change a lot

34:43

of those things . Sure Habits , but

34:45

the closing time really quick . I play the song

34:48

Closing Time for my kids at the

34:50

end of the day when they have to pick up and like get ready

34:52

for bed . And

34:55

we were at a venue

34:57

recently that was closing down

34:59

and they played it in all three

35:01

of my young children and

35:05

the staff was like how do you guys

35:07

know the song ? They're like oh yeah , our mom

35:09

makes us have closing time every

35:12

day . So it was just kind of funny

35:14

. I was like aw , it

35:16

was a little proud moment , right ? Yes

35:18

, yes , I love that song , I

35:21

love that . They know it . But

35:24

I do feel like you know at some point , if we want a different

35:26

saying , I'm open and for listeners , if you guys

35:28

have any great ideas , I'm open . We're open

35:31

to feedback and if you want to be part

35:33

of shaping our journey and how

35:35

this evolves , we want it to just unfold

35:37

organically , absolutely , and have

35:39

it impact you and be very useful

35:42

for you and your life and your growth . So

35:45

on that note for now . Cheers

35:47

to good karma .

35:48

It is closing time . Thank
