clarity of vision , the path

will serve up topics that weigh on our hearts and

0:38

0:42

development , marriage and money . You , my

0:44

friend , are in the right place . I'm glad

0:46

you're here .

0:47

Welcome back to the Paradigm you podcast

0:49

. This is the third and

0:52

final episode in the entrepreneurial

0:54

series . My name is April Marluski-Hidzinski

0:56

and we have the incredibly

0:58

brilliant Lisa Sarnowski with us today

1:01

. How's it going , lisa ?

1:02

Hey , I'm doing great April , Great to be here with you

1:04

.

1:04

Woohoo , you ready to talk about today's

1:07

topic . I love , love

1:09

this topic .

1:11

It is so powerful

1:13

. So yeah , I'm ready to dive in .

1:15

It is . So this topic is for all

1:18

entrepreneurs and everyone

1:20

else . We are specifically

1:22

talking about it from the lens

1:24

of entrepreneurialism . However

1:26

, we truly believe that the topic

1:28

of vision and casting your vision can

1:31

be for anyone . So on today's

1:33

episode , we are going to talk a little bit

1:35

about our experience with casting

1:37

vision of where our businesses are going

1:39

and how you

1:42

can use those tools to get there as well . I

1:44

love it . Let's go . You

1:46

want me to go first ? Yeah , absolutely

1:49

, are you kidding me ? Well , all right

1:51

, I will start and Lisa , hop in

1:53

at any point . You know we decided

1:55

that we wanted to do this entrepreneurial

1:57

series because we felt like we were hearing

2:00

from entrepreneurs that they were

2:02

struggling to know what they were doing

2:04

and where they were going often , and

2:06

when we gave that some thought , we really thought

2:08

, hey , let's do a really small

2:10

mini-series about

2:13

some of the things that need to

2:15

happen to be a strong entrepreneur . So over

2:17

the last two weeks we've talked

2:19

about other topics , last week

2:21

being the topic of clarity . When

2:24

you understand the metrics

2:26

and what's been working

2:29

, what isn't working and how you've

2:31

been showing up and who you've been

2:33

, then you can start to cast

2:36

that vision for where you're going

2:38

armed with that information . So

2:40

today we're going to talk about how

2:42

and what you can be doing to

2:45

cast that vision and to be truly

2:47

intentional with where you're going

2:49

with your business , with your life and

2:52

with , probably , quite frankly , your energy as

2:54

well , wouldn't you think , lisa ? Absolutely

2:56

yeah .

2:58

This is a great energy management tool if you're a business owner . Yes

3:00

, absolutely .

3:01

I like that so well here . Let

3:03

me tell you a little story here . I

3:06

have been on a mission to grow

3:08

my businesses over the last

3:10

few years and when I got really

3:13

honest with myself and quiet , I

3:15

started asking myself what was my intention

3:18

with this big dream that I

3:20

had put in front of myself . And

3:22

when I started to ask some of those questions

3:24

of clarity , like we asked you last week

3:26

, it became very oh

3:29

, I became very aware and it became quote

3:31

unquote clear to me that I needed

3:33

to shift some things so that I had enough

3:35

energy to show up the way I wanted

3:37

to show up and I was going in the

3:39

right direction . I wasn't trying to spin

3:42

a lot of plates and dropping

3:44

all of them . I was really clear

3:46

on where I was focusing my energy and

3:48

my time and I

3:51

really do think that that's truly accelerated

3:53

my business . And here's

3:55

an example when I

3:57

and Tony , my husband , who

3:59

is my business partner on all of our

4:01

businesses except for paired

4:04

on you with this one , I was just going to say

4:06

, hey , talk about our

4:08

partnership is well on this episode

4:10

. We sit down on a regular

4:12

basis . You've heard me talk about this if you've been

4:14

listening to this podcast for some time . Every

4:17

January , we go on a planning

4:19

retreat . We go and we set our

4:21

goals for a couple of days . We just get away from

4:23

the hustle and bustle and we get

4:25

clear on what we would like to

4:28

create in the year ahead

4:30

of us . We also do quarterly

4:32

check-ins and I think that that's an important

4:34

piece . So what was most profound

4:37

was getting clear on where

4:39

we wanted to go with our business and

4:41

writing all of that down . Here's

4:44

the secret . My friend , you

4:47

might be nodding and being like yes , I love this

4:49

stuff and , as a true planner

4:51

nerd at heart , if you're

4:53

like me , you are like yes

4:55

, let's get all of these things on the calendar

4:58

. Here's the secret . It's got to be

5:00

on the calendar . You have to plan

5:02

out . You're yeah , you have to plan

5:04

out when you're going to cast vision

5:06

for yourself , because if you're just saying I'm

5:09

going to do this but you never actually carve

5:11

out the time , it's rare

5:13

that it's going to actually happen

5:15

. So I want to advocate for you to take

5:17

some time . If you haven't heard us

5:19

from last week's episode advocating for this

5:21

, go ahead and pull out your calendar and pick

5:24

out some time that you can identify

5:27

. These are the visions that I

5:29

am moving forward in and this

5:31

is the time that I'm going to spend dedicating

5:33

to just that . I'm not going to be on my

5:35

phone , I'm not going to be on social media , I'm

5:37

not going to be responding to emails . This

5:40

is a time where I'm going to show up , I'm going

5:42

to get quiet , I'm going to get honest with

5:45

myself and I'm going to do the work to cast

5:47

vision and then build out the plan

5:49

for how I'm going to get to that vision .

5:51

Yeah , so often

5:53

I think , as entrepreneurs , we tend to be

5:55

in a doing modality and stay so

5:58

busy that we can continue

6:00

to put tasks on our list , we can continue

6:02

to book meetings , we can continue

6:05

to prospect or do our marketing or whatever

6:07

it is , and um

6:10

, and we can get stuck in that trap that this is the

6:12

way it's going to grow . This is my vision , is it's

6:14

going to grow and it's going to get busy , but to

6:16

April's point , you have to

6:18

do that pause , you have to carve

6:20

out time and you have

6:22

to get honest with yourself on what exactly

6:25

you're building .

6:27

You know , Lisa and I did this when we

6:29

decided to partner for Paradigm

6:31

U and the Elevate Group

6:34

Coaching Program that we've uh , we're actually

6:36

in the thick of currently and we're really excited

6:38

to be serving those clients . But

6:40

, Lisa , do you want to talk about what that looked like ? Because we

6:43

really did . We carved out time for that .

6:44

Yeah , that was such a powerful

6:47

day . You know , we had a , we

6:49

had a great space that was very

6:51

inspirational and we just , you

6:54

know , had our laptops , had all of our planning . We

6:57

both are planning nerds

6:59

Is that a good word to use . So

7:01

, like I had , I had all my fun

7:04

colored pens , you had your

7:06

post-its and calendars and we sat

7:08

down and one of the first questions I believe

7:10

we asked is what do you want ? What

7:13

do you want ? What do you imagine

7:15

this becoming ? Not from

7:18

a lens of constraints and , oh my goodness

7:20

, how can we even make that happen ? Purely

7:22

from almost an inner

7:24

childlike vision of what's possible

7:27

, what would be super cool to build

7:29

. If anything could happen and

7:31

we can literally be guaranteed

7:34

that nothing would fail what would that look like ? What would

7:36

that look like ? And

7:38

, man , we weren't giddy that day

7:40

. I feel like the creativity was just flowing

7:43

. We didn't want to end . Yeah

7:46

, that was a really powerful day and , honestly

7:48

, our group program absolutely

7:51

was born out of that experience . And

7:54

again , we're a couple of weeks in and

7:57

the women are doing phenomenally

7:59

in there . So it's just been so fun to see

8:01

things start to evolve

8:03

and come to fruition faster . Had

8:05

we not done that ?

8:07

Yeah , let's highlight that point

8:09

the faster , because when

8:11

you are intentional with planning

8:14

and identifying what it

8:16

is that you want , the

8:18

path becomes really clear and

8:20

you can accelerate your process . So

8:23

it's just wild

8:25

.

8:25

It is . It really is Cause

8:28

it's so easy to say no to things . Then

8:30

, again , opportunities are constantly

8:32

coming to us . I feel like as entrepreneurs

8:34

, and especially when you become phenomenal

8:37

manifestors especially like April over

8:39

here , who just manifests so brilliantly

8:41

and powerfully and yet it's

8:43

easier to say no , it's easier to focus

8:46

in and you're able to reap

8:48

the reward because you're seeing the impact

8:50

that's being had around

8:52

you .

8:53

Yeah , you know , lisa , I also want

8:55

to take us on a journey with

8:57

regards to how we vision and

9:00

the idea of envisioning

9:02

what it is that we actually

9:05

want , because I think

9:07

when you are clear on what

9:09

you want , the path does

9:11

unfold for you . And when

9:13

you ask yourself what is the vision for

9:15

my life , for my business , for

9:17

my week , how

9:20

I spend my time , I think that's

9:22

a powerful piece . But then when you

9:24

can actually close your eyes and start to

9:26

imagine because you said I'm a powerful manifestor

9:28

, I have to go there . Of course , if

9:31

you can close your eyes and take some time

9:33

to actually envision

9:36

, what does that look like , what

9:38

does that feel like and

9:41

how are you showing up in

9:43

that vision I think that that's

9:45

an equally powerful experience

9:48

and exercise to apply when you've

9:50

casted that vision . So , for

9:52

all of our entrepreneurs listening , here

9:55

are some tools that we would like to

9:57

advocate for you to apply

9:59

as you're starting to carve out your

10:01

vision . You wanna go first

10:03

, lise ? You got it , you

10:05

start , I put you on the spot

10:08

. So , yeah , this is , oh gosh

10:10

, this is my jam . I love

10:12

talking about this topic because

10:14

it is so powerful and I've seen

10:16

the rewards by taking

10:18

the time to actually apply it . Yeah

10:21

, so if you're driving

10:23

, obviously , do this later and re-listen to this

10:25

, but if you're not , pull out a pen and paper . And

10:27

I want you to consider

10:29

these tasks , the first

10:31

one being identify some time

10:34

, because we are in quarter four

10:36

. And if you're an entrepreneur , gosh

10:38

, I really hope that you have a good grasp

10:40

of what quarter four means for your business

10:43

. And I want you to

10:45

identify some time before the end of quarter

10:47

four , before the end of this year , where

10:49

you can cast vision of what

10:52

, for what , the next

10:54

year looks for you .

10:56

Yeah , and I would encourage

10:58

you in that space to get

11:00

up and move away from your computer or

11:03

allow that answer to come to

11:05

you in a different format . This isn't about pushing

11:08

through . This is about making time

11:10

and allowing yourself to

11:13

have the answer that you really want . I think so

11:15

often what we've found coaching entrepreneurs

11:18

is that you secretly

11:20

know exactly what

11:22

that vision is . It's claiming

11:25

it that you're challenged with because

11:27

you have some old story that

11:30

that vision does not align with a

11:33

successful life or a happy life or a

11:35

financially responsible life or whatever

11:37

it is . So just allow

11:39

, I love , love , love , the

11:41

carving out intentional time . But equally , it's

11:44

okay to walk away from the computer .

11:46

Yeah , and to your

11:49

point , leigh , I think that it's important

11:51

to change your environment . When you're

11:53

actually doing this vision

11:55

casting , when you're identifying

11:58

what does the next year look like for

12:00

my life or for my life , for my business

12:02

, taking the time is important

12:05

, but also changing your environment

12:07

will allow for a different level

12:09

of creativity , I believe , because

12:12

you're not being pulled in all of the other directions

12:14

. If you're at home , if you work

12:16

from home , for example , you are pulled

12:18

in the hey , I could just go through a load of laundry

12:21

in , or I have

12:23

all of these emails that are pinging my phone

12:25

or computer , but it truly is

12:28

changing your environment . And

12:30

if you're working with a team , I

12:32

think it's important , before you even show up with

12:34

a team , that you take some time by

12:36

yourself to identify what

12:38

is my vision for my business , because

12:41

then you show up as a different level

12:43

of a leader .

12:45

Absolutely , and you want to solicit

12:47

buy-in from those that you're

12:49

working with right and yes

12:51

, they're going to contribute and perhaps expand

12:53

the vision as well with you , but

12:56

definitely you want to come in with

12:58

some solid direction , for

13:01

sure .

13:02

Yeah , it's so important

13:04

, the other pieces that I think are truly

13:07

important . As I mentioned , envisioning

13:09

and doing that vision work is

13:12

a really key piece to doing

13:14

this . But before that , it is what

13:17

you said , Lisa , to your point dreaming

13:19

big , identifying

13:21

what are those really big , exciting

13:25

goals that are going to get you out of bed

13:27

every morning . Yes , it's not

13:29

the drudgery of like ooh , I just

13:31

want to make sure my inbox is down to

13:33

zero every day , Right ?

13:34

I mean that's exciting .

13:35

That's a great goal , but this

13:38

is the big time where you're actually

13:40

envisioning those big , exciting

13:42

goals yeah

13:45

.

13:45

And to ensure that your vision

13:48

is yours . So we have

13:50

business owners that follow us

13:52

that definitely have employees that have worked

13:54

with solo pernures or freelancers

13:57

or consultants , that just you know

13:59

what you want . To keep it a one person

14:01

show , and that's equally okay . But

14:03

really zooming in there and figuring out

14:05

what is your vision , beyond

14:08

how much you make , what

14:11

is so fulfilling about this vision

14:13

that really , to April's point , is going to

14:15

make you jump out of bed .

14:16

Because it has to To last week's episode

14:19

, when we were talking about rinse and

14:21

repeat , chop

14:23

wood , carry water . There's going to be

14:25

days where you're going to have that constant

14:28

of the rinse and repeat . That has to happen

14:30

, but having a bigger vision

14:32

allows you to move through that , because you understand

14:34

the importance of why you're showing up even on

14:36

those days , absolutely .

14:39

The other thing .

14:39

I think is really important Lisa , I'd love for

14:42

your thoughts on this one is the getting

14:44

quiet and listening to your intuition

14:46

. I think oftentimes there

14:49

are so many things externally

14:52

that are calling for our attention and our time

14:54

that it's easy to not listen

14:56

to our own intuition or

14:58

our gut feeling . But when

15:00

we can get quiet and we can move that

15:03

energy in that environment , we

15:05

can allow for those actual

15:07

feelings to come through .

15:11

You know , for the , for the overdoers , the

15:13

other April's out there , if I may co-host

15:15

, getting

15:18

quiet is a really important

15:20

skill to the visioning work and I'm so glad you brought it up

15:22

. April and honestly , listeners , april's

15:25

amazing at doing this and

15:27

really tapping into her intuition and

15:29

allowing that to come through in your

15:31

vision is such a powerful

15:34

skill and it's a skill that

15:36

isn't going

15:38

to be in any sort of MBA program

15:40

, it's not going to be in the business

15:42

books and to some degree

15:44

it gets touted as some sort

15:46

of weakness . And yet we

15:49

have seen time and time again with our own

15:51

businesses , with our client businesses

15:53

, with our colleagues , that if

15:55

you are attuned enough

15:58

to pay attention to your intuition and

16:00

allow yourself the space and grace

16:02

to follow it , you know accelerated

16:06

growth and powerful things are around the corner

16:08

.

16:08

Yeah , it really is . It's

16:10

just such a fascinating

16:12

experience to witness how

16:14

this all plays out . Yeah , one

16:17

of the other things I think is important

16:19

, and to your point , lisa , is

16:22

it's important to have those

16:24

big visions and

16:26

to dream really big . But also

16:28

, when you're doing that , to look

16:30

from the lens of how am I

16:32

showing myself in my business love

16:35

. So

16:37

, when you were saying that , you know it's not in the

16:39

business books , I

16:41

have yet to see this in any

16:43

business book but , quite frankly , when

16:46

you can love up on yourself and your

16:48

business and your team , holy

16:51

cow . Okay

16:53

, lisa's laughing right now . Lisa's laughing

16:56

because they can't see you .

16:59

So you're talking about love and I'm actually wearing

17:02

a it's a forever

17:04

love stamp that we got

17:06

when we went to Washington DC and we went to the

17:08

of all places , y'all . We went to the

17:10

National Postal Museum and I'm

17:12

here to tell you that

17:14

is an amazing place and people

17:16

are very nice and healthy there . So , whatever you think

17:19

, but my father was a mail carrier , so

17:21

I got this t shirt and so

17:23

I'm literally wearing a shirt that says love and

17:25

, as she's talking about self love , it just made me giggle

17:27

.

17:28

What are the odds ?

17:31

Oh , we know . We know for sure by now that

17:33

there was nothing lucky about that . We're

17:36

just so aligned , yeah .

17:37

Right . But you know , quite frankly , it's

17:39

so important to love up on yourself

17:42

, on your business , on your team , because

17:44

you're an entrepreneur for a reason even

17:46

if you're an accidental entrepreneur , there's

17:49

a reason that you are doing

17:51

what you are doing and you are who

17:53

you are and how you're showing up , and

17:56

it's probably because you're driven by making

17:58

some sort of impact on the world , on

18:00

the people that you are serving

18:03

on . You know your

18:05

bottom line , whatever it is , you're

18:07

making an impact and you're driven

18:10

by that . And if you aren't loving

18:12

up on yourself , you're not protecting your own

18:14

energy , You're not able

18:16

to show up in the ways that you could truly

18:19

show up to accelerate that vision

18:21

. So I want to also , when

18:23

we're going through all of these different steps , remind

18:26

you that it's important to love up on

18:28

yourself and to show yourself love

18:30

, because also when you're having

18:32

those big visions , it's easy to

18:34

embrace those stories of like oh , that's

18:37

on , that's unrealistic , I can't get there

18:39

.

18:41

Who am I to make that happen ?

18:43

Yeah .

18:43

Yeah , that doesn't happen in my family . That's

18:46

other people that can do that .

18:48

Yeah stories and if we're

18:50

listening to those , it's going

18:53

to slow down that acceleration

18:55

. Yeah , because then we're listening

18:57

to the outside and that external

19:00

voice that's telling us that we

19:02

can't do it Correct . But if we're moving up

19:04

on ourselves and we're leaning into our

19:06

passion and the reason we

19:08

signed up to be an entrepreneur , because it's

19:10

truly a roller coaster . You hopped on that ride

19:12

at some point . It is fun . It's

19:15

fun . I like roller coasters

19:17

. It

19:20

is fun . It's exhilarating and terrifying at times . I'm sure

19:22

. 100% . Yeah , but

19:25

when you signed up to hop on that ride

19:27

, you were probably driven by

19:29

something that felt bigger than you . Yeah , and

19:33

to show up fully , it's important that you're taking care

19:35

of yourself and you're loving up on yourself . So

19:38

, as you're building out that vision , making

19:41

sure that you're advocating for time to

19:43

take care of yourself , yeah .

19:46

Yeah , that's such a critical piece . Is

19:49

there anything more you want to add ? Because I have

19:51

one , but I think it might wrap

19:54

up the conversation

19:56

.

19:56

Let me give it some thought here . I , you know

19:58

, like I said , I just love this topic

20:01

so much and I want to advocate

20:03

for people to consider it . You know , I do have one

20:05

last just piece of advice . This one isn't necessarily

20:07

a task that you can check off for my overdoers

20:10

, but this is something to keep in the back of your

20:12

mind Lisa had mentioned earlier

20:14

, to make sure that your vision is

20:16

yours . I also want to advocate

20:19

that , as you're starting to envision

20:21

what your next year is looking like , to

20:24

not look outward . Yes

20:27

, it's important to know your market . It's important

20:30

to know your metrics , it's important to

20:32

know you know where your place

20:34

is within your industry and where you're going

20:37

. But it's not helpful

20:39

to do that comparison and that judgment

20:41

piece , not when you're trying

20:43

to dream big and you're trying to channel this incredible

20:45

energy that's going to allow you to be creative

20:48

and envisioning what you're doing next

20:50

year . So I want to advocate Don't

20:52

be looking at you know who's doing what

20:54

and start comparing , compare

20:57

, comparing . Excuse me , it

21:00

really is . Hashtag , new Word . What's

21:02

that New Word ? New Word yeah , it's a

21:04

New April word . Gosh , an Aprilism

21:06

. Yes , it really is . As Lisa

21:09

said over the last few episodes

21:11

. It's an inside game and I want to advocate

21:13

for you to lean into that intuition

21:15

, into where you see the world

21:18

and your business going , because it

21:20

truly is all within side

21:22

you . Lisa , you said one last thing . What

21:24

do you got I ?

21:25

do . But , to add

21:28

on to what you just said there , business is

21:30

an inside job , 100% as an

21:32

entrepreneur , as a business owner . So if , during

21:35

your visioning , you're recognizing areas

21:37

of growth for your business , we'd like you to also

21:39

consider what will that entail

21:41

for you personally to also

21:44

be able to grow and elevate ? Is

21:46

it your mindset ? Is it you know , parking

21:48

these old stories ? What is it ? But as

21:50

you continue to cast that

21:52

vision for your business , you must also

21:54

unearth what that means

21:57

for yourself personally . So , yes

21:59

, the last task we want

22:01

to advocate for is to

22:03

sign up for our newsletter , because this topic

22:05

, as you can tell , this entrepreneurial

22:08

series that we've done has been

22:10

so impactful and we're getting so many great

22:12

comments and DMs from people that

22:14

we are going to be doing some entrepreneurial

22:17

workshops coming up . We do not

22:19

have the dates or titles yet , so stay

22:21

tuned , but you're definitely going to want to be a part

22:23

of them , because there's nothing more

22:25

powerful than being in a room with other

22:28

entrepreneurs who can equally

22:30

validate what you're doing and support

22:32

you and also have coaches that are willing

22:35

to stretch you and provide you a framework for

22:37

what you need moving forward .

22:39

Yeah , and that information will come out to

22:41

our newsletter followers first

22:44

. So we want to make sure that you've

22:46

signed up and if you haven't , the link will be in

22:48

the show notes . Go ahead and hop on there . We

22:51

do not send a whole lot of spam or

22:53

anything like that . That is bad karma

22:55

, my friend . So we send a once

22:57

a week newsletter , and that is it . Now

22:59

I'm just mumbling over my words . I just want to keep talking

23:02

about it .

23:03

I can tell you're having a problem wrapping

23:05

up .

23:06

I am because it's such a great topic . All

23:08

right , my friends , you can tell we

23:10

are excited about this , we're very passionate about

23:12

it and we want to advocate for you . It's

23:14

you're wrapping up the end of

23:17

2023 . You've taken

23:19

the time to consider who are you

23:21

and how you're showing up . You've taken

23:23

some time now , over the last couple

23:25

episodes and weeks , to reflect

23:27

on where you've gone this year and how

23:29

things have panned out for you . And

23:31

now you're wrapping up quarter four . I

23:34

don't want to rush the end of this year . We still

23:36

have some time left to really

23:38

show up exactly how you want to show

23:40

up . But when

23:42

you're showing up the way you want to show up , I invite

23:45

you to consider how important

23:47

it can be and how impactful it can be to

23:49

also start to cast vision for where you're

23:51

going next year . And on that note

23:53

, it is closing time .

23:55

Cheers to good karma . Thank

23:57

you for listening to this entire

24:00

podcast . I hope this episode

24:02

has left you feeling curious and

as much as you have . And , if you found

24:22

24:24

social media outlets . That is good

24:26

karma in action . My friends , all

24:28

right , it is now closing time . Cheers

24:31

to good karma and the power to

24:33

choose joy . If

24:37

you like this , tell your friends

24:39

. Stay tuned for

24:41

the end , because we have outtakes .

24:43

24:46

the outtakes . And now

24:48

24:49

Hold on , I'm totally using this as outtake . Go

24:51

for it .

24:55

24:57

25:17

the rest , even if they only can listen

25:19

to a part of it because of a screaming

25:21

baby You're all really awesome

25:23

.

25:24
