What do we calling the show this year?

0:02

This is the Patriots Pregame Show presented

0:05

by Dunky.

0:05

Patriots Chinwag, Patriots Before the

0:07

Game Show, part on

0:10

to Cot touchdown New England. Hey,

0:13

it's the Patriots.

0:14

Patriots Pregame Show is your source for all

0:16

the latest news and information before every

0:18

game.

0:19

They've tucked into.

0:20

The house, good.

0:23

Trips bled with

0:25

Hardy.

0:25

Do you what do you mean you haven't been to McDonald's

0:28

in twenty years, Mike to So.

0:30

My favorite part of this key though, is that it's actually the key

0:32

to nothing right.

0:33

It's not even Paul perils

0:35

right, just texted me a question

0:39

and Tamara Brown, we need to talk.

0:41

About all the ways we want ta Merit

0:43

to change in twenty twenty four.

0:45

Wow, don't Patriots Nation.

0:47

Welcome to the Patriots Pregame Show presented

0:49

by Dunky.

0:52

Did everyone bring their list of things we would

0:54

like to Marra to do differently in the new year.

0:56

Yeah, it's a very shortlist. It's nothing, Tamara, just be

1:00

that.

1:00

Okay that I guess I'll start camera.

1:02

Deuce is my favorite person.

1:04

Officially Welcome

1:06

into the Patriots Pregame Show fueled by Duncan.

1:08

Final Game of the your Patriots host the Jets

1:11

today at a very snowy,

1:13

wet, cold, disgusting

1:15

day in Foxborough. How was it? How was

1:18

everybody getting in here today? Were everybody?

1:20

Okay?

1:20

It was a dream. I rolled right in. There was no no traffic

1:23

or anything. I got here in like eight minutes. It was surprisingly

1:26

easy, peasy. A little bit of a walk though from out

1:28

in a spooky world. Yeah, that was a little wet

1:30

and gross, but hey, we're here.

1:32

Traffic wise, there was nothing. There was absolutely

1:35

nothing coming in here today. It was just like

1:37

you said, the walk in and I

1:39

I did encounter a few people tailgating

1:42

already.

1:42

I'm like, why those are the diehard fans?

1:44

Why you encountered you encountered

1:47

a tailgater? Yeah, there was not a single

1:49

person in the park lot. And I got here about a half hour,

1:51

forty minutes before you. I saw too, not one

1:53

person I saw my walk across.

1:55

My favorite thing with the stress is going to be bad. You

1:57

see some of them, but it's like the clothing choices

1:59

that people it ma today, Like there's you know, like I saw a

2:01

guy in just jeans and a jersey

2:04

and maybe like a sweat underneath.

2:05

It and like so wet. Snow

2:08

is so wet, like seven hours to

2:10

go.

2:11

I'm sure you'd be fine.

2:11

Bro, you're gonna get cold. You're gonna catch a cold.

2:13

I guess they feel that. You know, once they drink

2:16

enough alcohol that will give them a nice.

2:17

Coat, right acts

2:20

the hypothermia that will set

2:22

in inevitably in the middle of the game when that cold

2:24

front moves him.

2:24

Oh yeah, yeah. Did anybody have to, like shovel

2:27

or anything get out today? Paul? You get more snow up

2:29

by you.

2:30

I did not have to shovel to get out, No,

2:32

how did he?

2:33

I thought he was in the pot. I thought he's gonna get a honeypot

2:36

up there.

2:36

Now, No honey pot.

2:38

No. I think it's more like for the West.

2:40

Yeah.

2:41

Yeah, I shoveled just because.

2:43

I got more than here, but not like

2:45

maybe two or three inches.

2:47

Yeah, I did, just because it's gonna be wet

2:49

and it's probably gonna freeze this afternode. You gotta

2:51

get rid of some of them.

2:52

I thought that's what TJ is for.

2:53

Yeah, I don't have a TJ yet. About a

2:55

year away from that.

2:56

Well, I could ask

2:59

both then that my kids would do it.

3:01

But Calvin is sick, so

3:04

he's just he's been under the weather for a couple of

3:06

days. I wouldn't force him to do it. And

3:08

if I'm just asking the

3:10

girl, well, Katie

3:12

is wonderful, she's you know, a

3:15

great kid. She's not doing it. I just

3:17

know absolutely plenty of other things.

3:19

But I mean, this is just her going out there. There

3:22

would be so much conversation about

3:24

it between me and her or

3:26

her and her mother. It's like, at that point,

3:29

just be done with.

3:29

Don't even worth the effort nor now they just go do yourself.

3:32

Yeah, she would. I mean she could be a lawyer. I

3:34

mean she would absolutely, And she's not like fresh

3:36

about it. She's like, I just wonder if

3:38

you know, she poses things in a very thoughtful

3:40

manner. Always,

3:43

she's a hoot.

3:45

I wonder if she gets it from.

3:47

There's got to be a progressive commercial in there,

3:49

though about turning into your parents, like our

3:51

thoughts about shoveling and the

3:53

best time to get it up. Well,

3:55

the son's going to hit this later.

3:57

And I know my neighbors like

4:00

production blue collar guy and and he

4:02

always just like waits till it's all done and then he just does

4:04

it at once.

4:04

And I don't know.

4:05

I like to kind of progressively do it, and then I always

4:07

feel like I'm being judged by a real man

4:09

next door. Why are you doing it now?

4:11

That's ridiculous, right, Maybe

4:13

I'm not one of those progressive parents. Then I don't

4:15

give it any thought at all. You just make

4:18

sure I get it done whenever you.

4:20

Do it once. What about a big storm.

4:22

Depends if it's

4:24

a big enough storm you need the snowblower. I usually wait

4:27

till the end.

4:27

I think about it NonStop. I think Deuce and I

4:30

are alike. It's like I gave that a lot of thought

4:32

this morning.

4:32

I was out there this you guys.

4:34

Yeah, I didn't it done?

4:35

Yeah?

4:35

All right, Dad, it's done.

4:36

Ah.

4:37

Whatever, it'll work itself out.

4:38

Well, that's top. It'll melt the most important time

4:40

conversation. Yeah, on this on

4:43

this particular pregame show, there

4:46

are there have been reports, There are reports,

4:48

there continue to be reports about whether

4:51

or not this will in fact be Bill

4:53

Belichick's last game as

4:56

head coach of the New England Patriots.

4:59

Deuce, you want you want to give

5:01

us your thoughts. Initially, here Diana

5:04

Rossini had something. There was a couple

5:06

other just a little not

5:09

nothing new this morning that I saw, unless

5:11

you've seen something, but mostly just kind

5:13

of reiterating what

5:16

we're already here.

5:17

Yeah, I would just sum it up by saying, it feels like everybody

5:19

thinks that it's kind of over, but nobody

5:22

knows for sure, including you know, people

5:24

talking. I forget who wrote, you know, it's

5:26

just nobody knows what's going on within the building.

5:29

You know, I'm blanking on who had that

5:31

initial report of everybody's

5:33

just it's business as usual around here, which is what it seemed

5:35

like, except for you know, Bill getting sick at the end of the week. But

5:38

I don't know, I just right now the tea leaves

5:40

everybody sounds like we think

5:42

this is it. We don't know exactly. You

5:45

know, there's obviously been a bunch of stuff about Mike Rabel

5:47

two being kind of circulated about what might his

5:49

his future be in Tennessee. So

5:52

it's all gonna happen quick over the next couple of days.

5:54

We'll start getting some real answers. But it seems like right now everybody's

5:57

kind of expecting this, this might be it.

5:58

Oh what do you think tomorrow?

5:59

Is this?

6:00

I think this is it, especially if the reports

6:03

of like you said, the reports of the reports that we've seen

6:05

this week, especially the one about him warning

6:08

to keep Patricias oc that that

6:10

was very confusing to me. And just reading that

6:13

long article by Andrew Callahan and I forgot who the

6:15

other person was. But reading

6:17

that article, it's like, if those things in that article

6:19

are true, it's all adding

6:21

up to someone who no longer has the

6:23

support of like his team and his support

6:26

staff. Everything is just derailing from that article,

6:29

and some things we're just really eyebrow raising, And so I

6:31

think that it's just time for a fresh start.

6:34

Is this hit? Paul? Yeah?

6:35

I mean I think my feeling hasn't

6:37

really changed over the course of the season. You know,

6:39

once, once it was a parent i'd say Saints

6:41

game, Once it was apparent way the season

6:44

was going, I felt like a change

6:46

was coming.

6:46

All right, let's get to our keys to the

6:48

game. We're going to go behind enemy lines here, and just lord,

6:51

why did you leave.

6:52

The keys up on the table you wanted to You've

6:54

waited all week for.

6:56

Right now just listening to this, waiting to hear what you're

6:58

gonna say.

6:59

Without these the Patriots are destined

7:01

and doomed to fail.

7:02

Here are Hardy, Paul, Mike, and Tamayor's

7:05

keys to the game.

7:06

Why did I steal your key to the game? Also,

7:09

there have been some unworthy key holders throughout

7:11

this season, none more so than last week.

7:13

None more so than last week.

7:14

I just I don't know.

7:16

I don't know. I forget who gave

7:18

it away. Was it our friend down in North Carolina?

7:20

One of our friends in North.

7:21

Carolina, somebody really smart who knows football.

7:24

So, Pat naguam, who is

7:26

listening on hold? Is that how this thing works?

7:28

Okay? Pat, you will be the key

7:30

decider here for this final key to

7:33

be given out Week eighteen, Patriots

7:36

Jets do. Since you are the current

7:38

keyholder, you go first. What is the key to

7:40

the game? Today?

7:41

The mine's most turnovers loses two

7:43

teams, Patriots, the Jets tied

7:46

for league league like thirty one to thirty two turnovers.

7:48

Patriots not too far behind. I think they have twenty seven.

7:52

It's a kind of a wet, sloppy day, it's a little

7:54

cold. I just I think, really boil it down

7:56

what we see from this Patriots team and this Jets

7:58

team all year long. It's just about

8:01

turnovers and who wins that kind of battle.

8:03

Who's going to be secure with the ball in these kind of conditions.

8:05

So I just think whoever has the most turnovers

8:08

probably gonna lose this game. So hold onto the ball and you

8:10

probably got a good chance to win.

8:12

Period.

8:13

Great, really really dynamite

8:15

stuff.

8:15

Literally looking at all to them.

8:18

Yeah, seriously, pat if you want to give it to

8:20

do is. I don't even know what what constitutes

8:22

a good key anymore to a Mariicana.

8:23

I'm just laughing looking at all of our keys on

8:25

this paper because I feel like the last couple

8:27

of weeks you had some really like interesting keys

8:30

based off of certain themes and stuff, and you look at

8:32

these and it's just comical.

8:34

Well, yeah, here we are, and here we

8:36

are and here we are. I don't know, this is

8:38

what happens, all right,

8:40

So what's your key?

8:42

Minus have a pulse? I mean, similar to what du

8:44

said, like, this is a judge team who turns the football

8:47

over a lot. They also give up a bunch of sack. They've

8:49

also have ineffective quarterback problems,

8:51

like where they've just been rotating quarterbacks. Obviously,

8:53

the Patriots have their own issues but offensively,

8:56

no team has scored less touchdowns

8:58

offensive touchdowns than them. All you have to do is

9:00

have a pulse, don't turn the ball over.

9:02

Coincidentally, we'll see was the only prerequisite

9:05

on my application to Michigan State in nineteen eighty

9:07

nine.

9:09

Just have a pulse and you can win this game. I think

9:11

this is a team too where it's like they're offensively

9:13

they do have weapons, but Breeze Hall,

9:15

you've already seen what this defense can

9:18

do. The Patriots can do, they can shut down the run. So

9:20

if they're trying to lean on him today, especially in these

9:22

conditions, I think the Patriots have the upper

9:24

hands. So just have a pulse, do what you've been

9:26

already doing, don't turn the ball over, don't

9:28

suck.

9:29

Okay, win the game's aul Yeah,

9:33

there's a typo in mind. It's not avoid

9:36

over time, it's avoid

9:38

overtime. It's one word.

9:41

I don't want to be here any longer

9:43

than I need to be today. I

9:45

don't think the game really has much of anything

9:49

in terms of any meaning in a

9:51

meaningful way. I'm not a huge

9:53

like, oh, they got to lose this game for the Yeah,

9:56

like they'll they'll figure out when the games

9:59

are all over today, they'll tell you

10:01

where the Patriots are drafting. You know, it might

10:03

be two, it might be five, it might be somewhere

10:05

in between. But I'm not overy

10:08

interested in that. Just

10:11

like, get the game over today, everybody, stay

10:13

healthy and try

10:16

to try to do it without having to go to overtime.

10:18

Yeah, well, I mean to that end, I would say,

10:20

for my key today, don't

10:23

make it obvious if

10:25

you have decided that you really don't want to win this thing,

10:27

you want to have a chance at the number two. Oh for all

10:29

pick, don't make it obvious. Bill, I

10:32

would say, don't make it obvious that

10:34

moving on from you is the absolute

10:37

best choice either. Don't go out there and do anything

10:39

that is going to uh tarnish

10:42

things even more than maybe perhaps they've

10:44

already been tarnished. And even to myself, don't

10:47

make it obvious that this is most likely your

10:49

last pre and post game show and you just want

10:51

to get the hell out of here. Let's not make it obvious

10:53

here today, guys, Okay, let's coming.

10:56

Three minutes before the show.

10:57

Just broke news. No, you just broke news,

11:00

right, I don't know. I haven't been offered the job

11:02

again, and I don't told you you have been

11:04

offered the job well for life. These

11:08

are our keys from

11:11

Deuce most turnovers loses, that's

11:14

not even a key.

11:15

I'm telling you. These keys this week are just very

11:17

funny compared to previous to think about.

11:19

Tamara says, have a pulse. Paul

11:22

says, avoid over time and

11:24

time. Yeah see, and

11:27

you're right, that's what it says and not what I That's

11:29

not what I wrote, but that's that's what it is. What it says,

11:32

and mine is don't make it obvious. So

11:34

Pat and agawam, who has the

11:36

best key this week? Who will retain the key

11:39

not only for the rest of the day but for the entire

11:41

offseason?

11:43

All right, I'm going to give it to you, guys, and

11:45

I also want to like give you my crazy conspiracy

11:48

theory afterwards. Okay, party,

11:51

I kind of want to give it to you, and I

11:53

don't know if you're going to be back, but I'm

11:56

purposely not going to give it to you because

11:58

you will come back next year now and you can and

12:00

you can win it. No key for you, great

12:05

logic, but I have to give it

12:07

to Paul because I don't.

12:08

Know, but

12:11

he says, don't to avoid

12:13

over time time. You

12:15

know, it's it's over time. Things

12:18

happen over a period of time.

12:20

Well, you know, in that case,

12:22

give it to him. All right, thank

12:25

you very much, thank you, thank you. Yeah,

12:30

where's our presentation key

12:32

presentation music?

12:35

Hold on a second. So I am more interested,

12:38

cousin, Patty in the I'm

12:41

more interested in this right on conspiracy

12:44

theory.

12:44

It's a great here's

12:47

here's my conspiracy theory.

12:48

All right.

12:50

I do believe in some

12:52

former fashion. Still Belichick is coming back

12:54

next year. And here's why. Okay, completely

12:57

absertain conspiracy theory. But

12:59

if we go on game time, you

13:02

can get tickets to this game for twenty

13:04

five thirty five bucks. And I

13:07

think that this was truly lest

13:09

game.

13:13

Breaking up. Plus we have bad, bad logic.

13:15

We have our guest in studio. I didn't even know

13:17

Antoine was going to be in studio today. So let's

13:19

get to it.

13:22

You know, the view from New England, we go behind

13:24

enemy lines, but what about the view from the other

13:27

side?

13:27

And that's why you're our favorite pregame show

13:30

guest every year.

13:31

You know, you tell everybody that I

13:34

was all with you guys.

13:34

That's twenty eighteen, Thursday Night Football.

13:37

Yeah, I was.

13:37

I was a favorite guest of the show.

13:39

No time now to go behind

13:41

enemy lines?

13:44

Joining us in studio our favorite

13:46

of all behind the enemy lines. Guess

13:49

when they're in studio. We love

13:51

when they're indio. Well, we love you when you're in studio.

13:54

A donut I'll

13:56

have, okay. Antoine

13:58

Stalley from the New York News, thank you so much

14:01

for being with us, Hardy. That's Mike Tamara,

14:04

Paul.

14:05

Actually know you guys, so yeah, have you been

14:07

with us before? I have not, but I've seen.

14:09

I've seen the pre game. Listen

14:11

to it?

14:12

Boy? All right, oh boy? How does that work?

14:14

Nothing? Nothing good? Can never start with that

14:16

comment. I know who you guys are.

14:18

Yeah, I know you said.

14:20

I know what you said.

14:23

So when Bill Belichick says that it's

14:25

not good, well he says no absolutely.

14:28

Last time he said it to me was like two thousand and three, in fairness,

14:30

so you got.

14:32

Right there you go.

14:32

Also, wait, can we talk about how he has on a Charlotte

14:35

hornet's hat from.

14:36

North Carolina originally if you can hear the Southern

14:38

twain little bit, I don't know what

14:41

what are what's the Salem.

14:43

Okay, we don't know anyone in Winston stand

14:45

we got like wake Charlotte,

14:48

Yes, yes,

14:50

that's okay. I have I have people in Durham. Do

14:52

you have people people that's in North Carolina

14:54

like Dondre? He has no people that is ken

14:57

a Southern expression people.

14:58

Yes, I go about eighty miles from Durham.

15:01

So perspective, all right, good, And

15:03

this is what you get when you come down in studio with

15:05

exactly did you get to talk nuts?

15:07

That's well I'm like, yeah, that's why it would be better. So yeah,

15:09

I'm not gonna do it on the phone. I'm used to doing it in the person.

15:11

We're not going to break down this game. Exes and nose. Why

15:14

no. My sister

15:16

has been in Durham about twenty years now, and

15:18

after she's there about six months, she called me up one

15:20

day she said, so, do you know what the plural

15:22

of y'all is? I said no.

15:25

She said, oh y'all. Oh

15:28

wow, it's not y'all, it's

15:30

y'all.

15:31

I just use y'all y'all.

15:33

Oh, you use you know what. I'll tell her she was wrong

15:36

or it's changed.

15:36

Wait before we.

15:37

Get serious, do you like Bojangles, Yes,

15:39

I did, I did.

15:40

Like Bojangles is staple

15:42

of North Carolina. Dad is Krispy Kreane.

15:45

Oh Christy, Chris

15:47

have nothing. It gets duck in. Oh no, you also

15:50

I know where I am so but

15:52

yeah, Krispy Kreane is the staple. It's also from North

15:54

Carolina, North Carolina staples.

15:55

So it's nice.

15:56

They're warm.

15:57

Whenever I come down south, I like, my first stop

15:59

is Bojangle.

16:00

Bo Jameles' Cookout. Also

16:02

Krispy Kreme as well.

16:04

All right, well i'll jump us in surreal. So what's

16:07

the state of mind of the Jets today coming up here in the weather?

16:09

And I mean, are they ready to come in here

16:12

and try to break the fifteen game

16:14

winning streak by the Patriots?

16:15

Yeah? I think I think they. I think they have a good mindset.

16:17

They understand that this has been a disappointing

16:19

season, but you know, to try to cap it off

16:22

at least have something positive taken to the

16:24

all season by and then they dreaded long

16:26

losing street to the Patriots. I mean, they could feel

16:29

good about themselves. I mean, let's be real, like last

16:31

year was definitely a disappointed went for Roba

16:33

Sala and company. That's why they end up

16:35

going out getting Aaron Rodgers and you know, trying

16:37

to change this whole thing, and unfortunately for

16:40

them, four plays in end us getting

16:42

hurt. And it's kind of the same story all over again.

16:44

It's like you're real living the twenty

16:46

twenty two season all over again. And now

16:49

they're, you know, facing the Patriots. There is

16:51

nothing other than play for it, than pride. But yeah,

16:53

they definitely want to snap this winning street no matter

16:56

what they've said out in public. This

16:58

is a talking point where in that locker

17:00

room.

17:01

What do you think I would love your opinion on just

17:03

who has the upper hand in this one considering both

17:06

teams have ineffective quarterback play and

17:08

you know, coming into this game with Trevor Simon as the quarterback.

17:10

That's that's a that's a nice way to put it, to

17:14

be quite honest with you, But yes.

17:17

Who's the least of the lower hand? I

17:19

mean to say that either team will end up with an

17:21

upper hand, especially on offense

17:23

today, Yeah, I think it's stretched.

17:25

I think it's gonna come down to coaching. And I think, you know

17:27

the thing that I always liked about the Patriots,

17:29

they don't necessarily shoot themselves in the foot a whole

17:31

lot, whereas the Jets do. If you look at their game

17:33

against the Browns, they committed a lot of penalties

17:36

and a lot of unforced and that's

17:38

why they've lost a lot of games that they did. I mean,

17:40

you look at even the gaming they want to against the Commanders

17:43

also shot themselves in the foot, and Almoso allowed

17:45

Washington to get back into that game and nearly win

17:47

it at the end if it wasn't for a long field

17:49

go by gret Zerlin. So yeah, I definitely

17:51

think that's what it's gonna come down to. Who can make the

17:53

least mistakes out there and the elements, and

17:56

also who can commit the less

17:58

penalties and that typically a lot

18:00

of Patriots have had control of this series because

18:02

the Jets have always found ways to shoot themselves

18:04

in the foot.

18:05

Okay, it's interesting that you said that because that was

18:07

Mike's key to the game the most turnovers

18:10

loses.

18:11

Could you imagine a football analyst

18:13

Antoine sitting here and coming up with taking a

18:15

bow for that this nugget win

18:18

the turnover back.

18:19

I don't know if you've ever heard that before.

18:22

Whoa, whoa.

18:24

Wait a second, he's not wrong. What about.

18:29

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, you got to get touchdowns

18:31

in the red zone?

18:33

Come away with thro All of these are negatives on

18:35

the Jets because they are the

18:38

last and third third down conversions and also

18:40

red zone but I'm sure you guys already know that

18:42

too as well.

18:43

So one of the things that we've

18:45

talked a lot about in New

18:47

England, especially over the last four or five weeks,

18:50

is the Patriots have continued to compete

18:52

in these games, and I feel like

18:54

in watching the league in general, there's a lot

18:56

of bad teams that I found have

18:59

continued to play pretty hard. What is your take

19:01

on the Jets as a whole. I'm not talking

19:03

about a bad quarter here or there, but

19:05

as a whole, do you think the Jets have competed?

19:07

Yeah, I think so for the most part. I mean, I know the

19:09

first half in Cleveland was not good by

19:12

any stretch, but whether you're.

19:13

Talking about like the first half in Buffalo for the Patriots

19:15

last week, is that they turned it over four times.

19:17

But they've also found ways to continue to

19:19

compete too, especially their defense. I feel like these teams

19:21

are very mirror images of each other in a

19:24

way, because they have really good defenses which

19:26

keep them in just about every single game that they're in.

19:28

It's just a matter of Kenner offense score

19:31

enough points in order to beat teams

19:33

in this league. And obviously with both

19:35

of these teams that hasn't necessarily been the case too.

19:38

Like I think what it like I said, what it comes down

19:40

to is just making the least amount

19:42

of mistakes. But yeah, I think the Patriots have also

19:45

done a good job with competing there so, especially

19:47

considering they lost you do on early on in the season,

19:50

and they've still continued to fund ways to

19:52

be one of the best defenses in football. And

19:54

then with the Jets too, I mean, I know their offense has

19:56

really struggled obviously without Aaron and then Zach

19:58

Wilson, that they've had four different quarterbacks starting

20:01

in now seventeen games, but you know they

20:03

could take they have a great defense. Quentin Williams is

20:05

still a Pro Bowl guy, obviously saws

20:07

the guarden that those are the guys that you look at too, but also

20:10

CJ. Mostley has had a tremendous year. Quincy

20:12

Williams might be one of the most underrated players

20:14

in the NFL, and when you have all

20:16

those guys that can can help continue

20:19

that cog in the machine, then yeah, you're always

20:21

You're always going to be in every single game that you're in.

20:23

Uh. Antoine Staley from the New York Daily News

20:25

with us, does Robert Salad end up

20:28

giving getting a bit of an extension?

20:30

Uh?

20:30

In terms of the verdict coming in

20:33

on him based on what happened with Aaron Rodgers

20:35

at the start of the season. H. Or is

20:37

there a consensus you get from

20:40

the beat guys and some from some of

20:42

the fans in terms of, you

20:44

know what what what what people are thinking

20:46

about him right now?

20:47

Before I answer that, like Woody Johnson has already

20:49

said, Robert sala and also Joe Douglas

20:52

the general manager, and Nathaniel Hacker will

20:54

all be back next year. Now, that's

20:56

been a split within the fan base too,

20:58

because you know, you see team like the Houston

21:00

Texas with a first year head coach and Damiko Ryans,

21:03

and also you know C. J. Straud a rookie quarterback

21:05

and then they make the playoffs. You see a team like the Pittsburgh

21:08

Steelers who've had three different quarterbacks.

21:10

They all, they find a way to get ten wins. Also,

21:12

the Browns they are gonna start their fifth quarterback today

21:15

and then they found a way to make the playoffs. My point

21:17

being is you shouldn't use that in an

21:19

excuse just because you know you lose Aaron

21:21

Rodgers. I think part of it is they just

21:24

they use that as excuses early on and say,

21:26

Okay, we're gonna get a mulligan. You know, let's

21:28

just you know, they see this season is going to be is

21:30

what it is. But next season, you know, this

21:33

is it. That's it for this for this organization,

21:35

I mean this regime like they have to win, and they

21:37

not only know if making the playoffs is enough for them.

21:40

Because you're going to get Aaron Rodgers, you end

21:42

up going to get all his friends that you

21:44

brought in, including Dalvin Cook and including

21:46

Lolan Lazar and a lot of that did not work out.

21:49

So now it's time to put up a shut up. And if

21:51

you don't do that in twenty twenty four, you

21:53

know it's gonna be wholesale changes throughout across

21:55

the boarder.

21:56

With the Jets, yeah, we're both like six hours away

21:58

from being in the offseason. Just you know, over all,

22:00

what would you say is the biggest Jets priority

22:02

this offseason?

22:03

Offensive line, no question, like you had

22:05

today will be the thirteenth

22:08

different offensive line combination in seventeen

22:10

games, which by far leads the league.

22:13

They failed to address that last year when they had eleven

22:15

different players starting their offensive line. They

22:18

thought that Makai Betton and Dwayne

22:20

Brown would be good enough to hide behind

22:22

have Aaron Rodgers blocked for them, but clearly that has

22:25

not been the case too. Obviously Aaron got hurt, But

22:27

you have a thirty eight year old Dwayne Brown, you

22:29

have a McKay Betten who came off two

22:31

knee injuries in a row, and it just hadn't

22:34

worked out for whatever reason. But you know, they

22:36

didn't go and they wouldn't. They did not address that

22:38

enough in the off season, and it really bit them

22:40

in the backside. And now here I had to go

22:43

into an off season where you're probably gonna need at

22:45

least two or not three starters on the

22:47

offensive line, especially two tackles.

22:48

Sounds like the Patriots, I'm going.

22:50

To say, Like listening to you talk, it sounds like the Patriots,

22:52

who've also didn't address those offensive line issues

22:55

as well.

22:56

Yeah, the mirror images. That's why I say these teams

22:58

are really mirror iraanges or what another is.

23:00

Just coaching. That's the main thing with the Patris

23:02

they have the coaching. The Jets. The jury

23:05

is still out on that.

23:06

So I want to like sort of

23:08

dive into that a little bit. That's what

23:11

Whatdy Johnson has said. How do you

23:13

feel do you feel like it's time to make a move.

23:15

I think I would,

23:18

personally because how many coaches and general

23:20

managers do you know that failed on

23:22

a top number two pick in the draft and then

23:25

after three seasons they're still able to keep their job.

23:27

Not many, not without winning. Yeah, exactly

23:29

like in San Francisco.

23:30

Exactly like they've had. Robert

23:33

sala Had has had a losing season every

23:35

single year. So I don't think having

23:37

Aaron Rodgers injury should give

23:40

him another give him more.

23:41

And your comparisons of you know, in

23:43

specifically Cleveland, you

23:45

know to me, because their offense

23:48

has been a mess, they have good personnel, just like the Jets

23:50

have good Rason now and they found a way. And I

23:52

think the Jets have decent personnel on offense

23:54

too, just not at quarterback now.

23:57

Maybe the even the Browns offensive

23:59

line is all banged up there the best

24:01

player in Chubb has been out so and

24:05

to me at least, Nathaniel Hackett should be looking.

24:07

For a giant exact but he won't because him

24:10

and Aaron Rodgers are friends, right, and they had an

24:12

opportunity to get Joe Flacco. Joe Flacco lives

24:14

in New Jersey, He's from New Jersey. Originally they

24:16

didn't make the call. They chose not to make

24:18

their call despite him being in the organization

24:21

the last few years. And look whay has got

24:23

them. Joe Flacco's headed to the playoffs with

24:25

a really good Cleveland team that I think is

24:28

can make some noise, especially how good their defense

24:30

is. And the Jets will be sitting at home for

24:32

the thirteenth straight year, which is

24:34

the longest stroud in professional sports. Right now,

24:37

watch it from afar.

24:40

Will Robert Salad be able to run the steps

24:42

in the stadium here today or the

24:45

snow and the ice? Kind of? He already

24:47

did?

24:47

He already did?

24:48

He didn't, Yeah, he already did.

24:50

Yeah, he kids here early, like I think he got start

24:52

running the stairs about nine to thirty.

24:54

So yeah, and Twine, how does that sit

24:56

with you. I look at that as like the ultimate heart o

24:58

move. It's like, don't you have something? See he can be doing.

25:01

Hey the man. The man loves to work out, he loves

25:03

he loves the you know, lift waist and also you

25:05

know, gets his steps in. I guess that that's where gets

25:07

them going.

25:08

So dude, iss stacked. He's stacked.

25:11

Okay, Yeah, I knew him a little bit. I mean,

25:13

I grew up in Detroit, so I still follow the

25:15

Lions pretty closely, and I was watching there.

25:18

I was just I was a little surprised when he got the head

25:20

coaching job, but I was rooting for him. But I think

25:22

I kind of feel the same way you are. Right

25:25

now. Let me ask you this from a from a Jets

25:27

perspective and someone who's lived

25:29

elsewhere. You look at the Patriots, you look at what

25:31

is going on here with Bill Belichick. Everyone

25:34

has their own thoughts within the region, and I

25:37

don't know if it's split, but there is a

25:39

healthy number of people said, why would

25:41

you ever move on from Bill? After you know

25:43

what he's given you so far. There's a bit

25:45

of an outsider perspective. How do you look at the

25:47

situation here.

25:48

Anoing Marty Shaunenhammer.

25:50

When I first got into the NFL, Marty Seamhammer,

25:52

the late great Marty Scheanenhammer totally was sometimes

25:55

you can stay at a place too long. And I feel

25:57

like that might be the situation with

25:59

Belle too. I mean, he's great. I

26:01

think he could go somewhere else and coach, and I think he

26:03

will be effective. But I also think it's

26:05

a time where it might

26:07

be time to move on, just from his perspective

26:10

too, because I think not only one people

26:12

will take for granted to run that the Patriots

26:14

were, because that is unprecedented, not just

26:16

in the NFL, but in all of sports. I mean,

26:19

I wrote it in my column, like look at the Golden

26:21

State Warriors. They've probably they've had like seven or

26:23

eight years of success. You look

26:25

at some of the other dynasties. I mean,

26:27

we're talking nearly twenty years of excellence.

26:30

You're never gonna find that again in professional sports.

26:33

And I think people have taken for granted how great

26:35

and how unprecedented that was, and you

26:37

know, it might be time for him to move on. It might be time

26:39

for the Patriots to move on also, because you

26:42

know, get some fresh blood in there and also somebody

26:44

that a new voice at times too as well.

26:46

That can also again help the offense

26:48

too, because the defensive stat too. I mean, we already

26:50

know defensively they're gonna be fine. I know a

26:53

lot of talk has been about Mike Brabo possibly coming

26:55

in there. I think that might be a good, you

26:57

know name, but also it doesn't address

26:59

the defensive, I mean offensive issues too

27:01

that the Patriots have had. They definitely got to go out and get

27:03

a quarterback. You know, maybe you know Jaylen

27:06

Daniels or you know Drake may

27:08

or obviously Kayler Williams is still there too, but

27:10

yet they have to find a quarterback.

27:12

All right, are you gonna jump on

27:14

board with the eight to six

27:17

score prediction for today? I

27:20

got two.

27:20

I got the Patriots win in seventeen thirteen.

27:23

Oh okay, that is, by the way, the most

27:25

popular score prediction. I think from this entire

27:28

season, we have more seventeen thirteen's

27:30

amongst us and guests

27:32

on the show. And I mean that

27:35

speaks to what the Patriots been able to do offense.

27:37

When I snarkily say that it's time for Bill

27:39

Belchier to go because he just wants to win game

27:41

seventeen thirteen. That's my score seventeen

27:43

because that's what I think. That's perfect for him. Yeah,

27:46

he no offense. It's all about me and my defense.

27:49

And you know, we'll wait for the team to make a mistake.

27:51

And yeah, what the last two weeks they've gotten

27:53

special teams touchdowns.

27:54

It's perfect.

27:55

The last time I was here last year, you know the

27:58

Jones Marcus Johns, while that

28:00

was incredible.

28:02

Well, uh, Antoine, appreciate you coming in.

28:04

Always great to have a guest here in studio. I

28:07

appreciate the time. Good luck today and

28:09

uh, they won't Yeah what do

28:11

you get? What you got playing for the off season or anything fun

28:13

your vacation.

28:15

Like you know, I am a Red Sox fan,

28:17

so I'm definitely gonna come back up here watch some Red Soce

28:19

games too. So I'm not too I'm

28:21

not too optimistic.

28:23

So you're you're from Charlotte, you're a Hornets

28:25

fan, but you're a Red Sox.

28:26

We don't have a we don't have a baseball team, so it's

28:28

kind of like but that's like so far.

28:31

And then I did his quick story,

28:33

like I did an internship with the Boston go

28:35

for a little bit out of college and then y'all

28:37

did some things there. So that's kind of how fell

28:39

in love with the Red Sauce.

28:40

Any of the Globe people you worked with then still

28:43

here now.

28:44

Dan Shaughnessy's still here. So yeah, he's

28:46

been a stable that. It's really about it. Really.

28:49

I think I

28:55

don't have one now because of what I do. But I

28:58

did grow up a Raiders fan. Yeah,

29:00

I know, I'm all over the place.

29:04

See, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna criticize that. Like

29:06

my our boss Fred, he

29:08

hasn't a lot of varied favorite

29:10

teams, but they all happened to coincide with teams

29:13

that won titles when he was like big

29:15

fans of them, like Raiders.

29:21

That's fine, Like that's not like championship

29:23

Raiders, Like that's I like Bo Jackson,

29:25

Like that's.

29:26

My favorite athlete going out. So that's why it's a

29:28

good one.

29:28

I didn't know that hard. I didn't know

29:30

Jackson. I didn't know that about Fred. Is he like

29:33

Fred sixty nine

29:35

Mats el Way. I love

29:37

the Yankees teams and stuff.

29:39

Like that, and not the Yankees, but the sixty

29:41

nine Mats definitely the l Way Broncos.

29:44

I always teasing, like, you know, mid eighties Georgetown

29:46

Hoyas basketball, Yeah exactly, Yalehouse,

29:49

Yeah, John Thompson, I

29:51

don't know what a child I had no idea.

29:54

Yeah, you disgusted me with the Georgetown to

29:57

Syracuse.

29:58

Oh jesu.

30:02

Well, I apologize if I've offended you

30:04

with rocket shots. I've taken it Syracuse and

30:07

Jim Beheim in particular.

30:08

And I will say this, you have so much more personality

30:11

than most Syracuse people.

30:13

I know.

30:14

You know, they they just say

30:16

that hardy.

30:17

If you think that we don't have personality, you

30:19

don't have to flatter me.

30:20

You seem like an actual human person

30:23

as opposed to I am from Syracuse

30:25

and I studied broadcasts sports

30:27

things. I was mass produced to the house.

30:30

Yes, and now I.

30:30

Will give you my score prediction.

30:36

I actually do no grass. I don't like that, especially

30:39

new TV.

30:39

I don't like the New Celtics announcer.

30:42

I don't even know.

30:43

Yeah, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.

30:46

I'm not saying, but yes, I do know.

30:47

People that are like good school. My daughter

30:50

am glad you came in. My daughter

30:52

loves it. She's my visit Syracuse a couple

30:54

of weeks ago. I loved it.

30:56

Oh yeah, it is very expensive though,

30:58

but yeah it's great.

30:59

Yeah, she not going there. Hey,

31:02

Antoine, thanks again for stopping him. I appreciate

31:04

you for having me. Appreciate you very much. All Right,

31:07

we're gonna get to our phone calls here at eight five

31:09

five pads, five hundred, email, web

31:11

radio at Patriots dot com. Who

31:14

should we talk to?

31:15

Oh?

31:15

Tony and Canaday before you pot

31:17

Tony up? Did you happen to see

31:19

that they're all wearing the Slater

31:22

sat shirts? Captain Captain Slater

31:24

Captain. Oh that's nice, Captain my captain?

31:27

So is there before we get to

31:29

Tony here?

31:30

Uh?

31:31

This is it?

31:31

This has got to be it for Slater. Yeah, this is oh yeah,

31:34

yeah, okay, we know we kind.

31:35

Of know this. Yeah, it feels like, okay, everything's

31:37

pointing in that direction at least.

31:39

By the way, Antoine's thank you so

31:41

much to shooting up the powering. Yeah.

31:43

I gotta imagine strong

31:46

jets because he's.

31:46

Going to be here every year and we get strong twice

31:49

twice a year.

31:50

But that was strong. It was a strong effort right there by

31:52

him.

31:52

Yeah.

31:52

But if we could have him in studio for every you

31:55

know.

31:55

Jets the

31:58

Royal Hardy, what

32:00

are you hinting at?

32:03

Tony in Canada? Tony, what's going

32:05

on? Thanks for joining us here on the Patriots

32:08

pre game, which is fueled by Duncan. What do you got,

32:10

Tony?

32:11

Well, I'm just calling in about the last game

32:14

for the season and wanted

32:16

to share some thoughts. I think Belichick's

32:19

definitely his last game here as

32:21

well as later. But I got two questions for you,

32:23

one serious,

32:26

the other one's kind of off the wall. So first,

32:28

the off the wall question, I think if the Patriots

32:31

lose this game, you guys said that we're guaranteed

32:33

the second round or second.

32:35

Pick in the draft.

32:37

No, they could, they could get

32:39

they could get the number two pick, but right now

32:41

they're a little bit behind Washington.

32:44

Yeah.

32:44

Okay, Well, here's the off the wall question. Then I'll ask

32:46

you a serious one. I'll get off the line right away. So,

32:49

anyway, assuming that if

32:51

we were to lose today, we're guaranteed the second

32:54

pick, and how important it is for the

32:56

court to be for us next year.

32:59

If Kraft win to Belichick and said,

33:01

hey, listen, I'd be willing

33:03

to keep you on for another year,

33:06

but we've got to get the second round pick,

33:08

in other words, lose the game. Do

33:10

you think Belichick would ever do that? And the

33:12

serious question is this, how do you guys?

33:15

Everyone's saying how Craft is

33:17

sort of being respectful and not making

33:20

any announcements, But do

33:22

you think it's in the uh, in our best

33:24

interest that Kraft makes the announcement

33:27

right away as soon as the season is over that we're moving

33:29

on, or should he give it a few days

33:31

before he makes any announcements?

33:33

Thanks guys, Okay, thanks Tony, Thanks

33:35

Tony. Yeah, I think

33:37

there's that's good, good stuff to chew on. Yeah,

33:40

it's it's one of the things

33:42

if you are just going to concede that this, you know,

33:44

Bill has gone and for the purposes of this conversation,

33:47

Okay, they're moving on, everybody's moving

33:49

on. When do you do it? Do

33:52

you quickly? Do you do you do it tomorrow

33:54

along with the other announcements? Yeah? I

33:56

would. So what about

33:58

the do you the

34:01

notion that that is disrespectful to lump

34:03

Billy.

34:03

In with all the I don't understand that. I know

34:05

and I'm not This is not an attack at you. You are

34:08

saying, what a lot of people have been

34:10

saying, I don't really understand if if they're

34:12

moving on and they're agreeing to part wait, what how

34:14

a web you want to phrase it. I don't understand

34:16

why it's utmost respect

34:19

on Tuesday, disrespectful on Monday. I don't

34:21

really understand that. Now, whether

34:23

it actually happens tomorrow, I don't

34:25

know. But I think that that

34:28

everybody should know tomorrow what is

34:30

going to happen.

34:30

I do too, And I mean I think everyone's building up

34:33

like this like meeting, that it's all going to be decided

34:35

tomorrow, like they're gonna hash it out, they're going to

34:37

have their arguments for two and four, and I

34:39

think it's already kind of determined. I think

34:42

that that the reports of this meeting having like

34:44

a lot of weight.

34:45

I don't think the meeting. I'm with Mike.

34:47

I don't think the meeting has anything to do like

34:50

with Bill saying this is right, here's

34:52

my pitch, here's my five point plan on how

34:54

we get back into playoff contention. I think

34:56

the meeting, if there even is going to be one,

34:59

is all about what they're gonna.

35:01

Do in the immediate uh you

35:03

know the plan.

35:04

Yeah, like we're gonna sit down, we're

35:06

gonna talk, all right, Bill, We're gonna we're gonna

35:08

move on.

35:10

I'm gonna announce a press conference. I'm gonna do this.

35:12

I'm gonna do that.

35:14

You you know what?

35:16

You know? Whatever? This is how we're gonna phrase it? Are you okay

35:18

with that?

35:18

No?

35:19

How do you want to do it?

35:20

Like?

35:20

What do we need to do? They need to work out the details

35:23

like an exit inter view almost.

35:24

And that's where like the respect thing comes in for me, Like,

35:26

it's not the timing, it's the how do

35:28

we announce it? How do we you know, I'm

35:30

going to tell you how I'm gonna do it right, right,

35:33

I'm totally right. That's that's where the respect

35:35

is that, you know, not like the timing of it, because,

35:38

i mean, let's be honest, like all these teams have to move there's

35:40

only a certain amount of candidates, there's only a certain amount

35:42

of jobs, and I mean some could argue that if

35:44

you are moving on from him, that you want to give him a chance

35:46

to have some of these other jobs and not, you know, hang

35:49

on, what what difference does two days make?

35:51

Well that's that again, I'm with Mike Herera one

35:53

hundred percent, we're lockstep. I think that is

35:55

the respect is not even just

35:57

about what's best for the Patriots team

36:00

over Bill, but just doesn't he deserve

36:02

to know right away?

36:03

I would think, like, why should he have to wait forty.

36:05

We're gonna give you Wednesdays. You're gonna be your special

36:07

your fired day, like you know, like it's gonna

36:09

be a I would say.

36:11

It's even it's more disrespectful,

36:14

right, But let's face it, let's just say

36:17

fragment's sake, we all think that this is it, right,

36:19

So let's just say we're right.

36:22

Do you think if on Black

36:24

Monday, which they call the

36:27

day that everybody gets fired? Yes, if

36:30

there's five guys that you know, let's say Arthur

36:32

Smith gets fired, Ron

36:34

Rivera gets fired, and Dennis

36:37

Allen gets fired and Bill Belichick

36:39

gets fired.

36:41

Respect who do you think people

36:43

are going to be talking about?

36:45

Right, Ron Rivera?

36:47

Like the entire the

36:50

entirety of the story.

36:51

Will be New England. Yeah, and Bill Belichick.

36:53

Now, the reason why it's might be

36:55

a little bit different is some

36:57

of those guys are getting fired tonight

37:00

after.

37:00

The game, right, and I and do not dismiss

37:03

that as a possibility.

37:04

Right.

37:04

Oh oh, And

37:07

I'm not saying that you're gonna find out if you get

37:10

Like my feeling

37:12

is, most of these teams do these

37:14

things like there's

37:16

a there's a press conference at Chillletts

37:19

Stadium, So like

37:21

if there's a press conference announced

37:24

tonight for tomorrow, what do you think

37:26

that is? Mm hmm, Like that's

37:30

all Like I just think and I

37:32

think that that's better for Like if it

37:34

was quick, it's better for everybody.

37:37

That's all.

37:38

That's how I feel too. People are like, you have

37:40

to be respectful. You can't do it on Black Monday.

37:42

And I'm like, it's respectful that he

37:45

lasted the whole season because you could have just fired.

37:46

After the same But I mean, I think it's respectful

37:49

to let him know as soon as possible. Yeah,

37:52

you got some news.

37:53

No no, no news, but just a word.

37:56

I ended up getting it.

38:00

News just just uh

38:02

you know you talked about the sweatshirts and on

38:04

the just on the arm. We have a close up here from our

38:06

Patriots account. It's his son,

38:09

father, husband, teammate, ten time Pro Bowl

38:11

selection, three time Super Bowl champion, thirteen

38:13

time captain, five time All Pro so

38:15

just laying out all of Matthew Slater's

38:18

many illustrious roles.

38:19

He'll be back next year. No

38:22

are they gonna. I guess they feel like it's a no.

38:25

That's a no for me.

38:28

I get a lot of hot dogs.

38:31

No.

38:31

We We saw him in the locker room on Friday, and

38:33

uh, I don't know. I just got a little bit of

38:35

a vibe of anybody who's had a last day at a job

38:37

of like, yeah, I'm done, I'm done,

38:40

like one more.

38:40

I mean, you know, just he had he had the run of

38:42

the music all week, practice.

38:45

Sweatshirts made somehow.

38:47

I mean, I don't

38:49

know.

38:51

I'm gonna wait and see, but

38:54

I mean kind of just interesting.

38:55

So the MIC's over there, Look, get

38:58

some food.

39:00

We're doing a show here.

39:08

Yeah he is. He's

39:10

just a special guy. Yeah, he's

39:13

a special guy.

39:14

And how about the the

39:17

idea of something special for him

39:19

in the game today, like gadget Oh,

39:22

like they throw a bomb to him.

39:23

Or something like.

39:24

They asked Bill about it on Friday and he

39:26

kind of shut it down. But he

39:29

didn't say no. But he didn't really get

39:31

into anything. But like something something

39:34

silly.

39:34

What if the Jets just don't put a returner back, and they

39:36

just let Matthew Slater run down and cover

39:39

that last kick all alone. He's just running free

39:41

down the field, you know, gets to down it himself

39:43

and jets.

39:44

I was thinking, like you keep talking

39:47

like that. If he's gonna down up punts,

39:49

Yeah, that's That's what I'm thinking. But find

39:52

a way to get him a touchdown on offense or

39:54

oh my gosh, you know, run some kind of gadget

39:57

play with him involved.

39:59

I don't know what.

40:01

Let him take the last snap of the game, take

40:03

the take the knee the last snap of the games.

40:07

Yeah, I can't go against Mike. Why is he going to

40:09

turn the ball over?

40:10

He doesn't know what the hell he's doing back there.

40:12

He's Matthew Slater. How about if he gets

40:14

the started wide receiver like for the first two

40:17

at a time when you were in high school.

40:22

Oh, no, party ribbonery.

40:24

I can't laugh.

40:26

That was that was an old

40:28

tart questionable. I

40:34

missed the whole rou Oh yeah, because

40:36

you're not even paying attention.

40:37

Great story of something here. He is on his phone

40:40

like my like one of my kids. It's ten

40:42

minutes I was here. Now, it's really annoying.

40:44

Let me sum it up. It's an easy story. It's just he

40:46

fell on a treadmill in his driveway.

40:49

No, it was on the grass on the hill leading

40:51

up to the driver.

40:52

Fell on a treadmill on the grass leading up

40:54

to us.

40:55

I was trying to do the math treadmill out

40:57

of my house.

40:58

It looks pretty nasty out. Oh, I'm

41:00

sorry.

41:04

It's a It's gonna be his last show, Paul, if you keep treating

41:06

them like this.

41:06

Yeah, oh yeah, be nice.

41:09

Let's talk to some more people. Talk eight

41:12

five five, pats five hundred. I'll get you. Yeah,

41:16

it's my ribs. Did you ever get a rib injury

41:18

in the Marines? There, Matt, you ever hurt your ribs?

41:21

Get hurt steel?

41:22

Oh and

41:24

he's back closing his rings, just speaking of

41:27

hearts, uh uh being

41:29

Fresno, not you. I was talking

41:31

about morel But go ahead, hurt

41:34

steel, that's what he said. Yeah, yes,

41:37

you should have heard some of the horribly offensive

41:40

things he said to our guest during the Army Navy

41:42

game that whole week. He didn't

41:44

have a good thing to say about any of those uh

41:47

young heroes in the building because

41:49

they weren't Marines.

41:53

I got nothing bad to say about a marine right there.

41:56

No, you can't better not, I know, hang

41:58

on choking.

42:00

When when we look back on this game

42:03

today historically, which

42:06

of the following do you think it's going to be remembered

42:08

as Is it going to be Bill's

42:11

last game, Slater's last

42:13

game, Parties last game,

42:16

or the toilet Bowl all.

42:19

I mean, let's add David

42:22

Andrews in there too.

42:23

Here's the thing about it being Bill's last game. And

42:25

this goes back to something that got talked about in

42:28

the preseason and before the season he's even

42:30

started when uh, we're

42:32

talking about, well, what's the draw for this team? Who's the

42:34

face of the team? Is that Mac got don't know, he could

42:37

ended up not being Mac? And I heard this more

42:39

than once. What's going to bring people to Jillette

42:41

Stadium to see this football

42:43

team? And people would say, Bill Belichick,

42:46

he's the guy. I said, you're out of your minds.

42:48

Nobody goes to a football game

42:51

to watch the coach, to see what the

42:53

coach does. I mean, you can barely spot

42:55

them unless you got binoculars. Sometimes on the

42:58

sideline it's like which one is he? Yeah,

43:00

it's like who cares. Who cares?

43:02

Writing stuff down with a pencil on the index

43:04

car.

43:05

Seriously, it's so

43:07

Speed. Having said that,

43:10

I think the game will end up being remembered

43:13

as Bill's last game, first and foremost

43:15

above anything else, but not by virtue

43:17

of anything that he does or you witness

43:20

on camera or anything else. It will

43:22

be remembered that way, but not for

43:24

any concrete image or action.

43:27

I think, I think, but

43:30

I but I do think that people get a warm,

43:32

fuzzy feeling when they see Bill on the sideline.

43:34

It's like, ultimately a matter of both

43:37

of his historical confidence but also

43:39

kind of a nostalgia for everything that he's represented.

43:41

Though I can't believe you just said people get warm

43:43

and fuzzy feeling connected to Bill Belichick.

43:48

What are you smoking him? Fresno, I don't get it. I

43:50

really don't. Oh I was aggressive.

43:52

Well, come out, Speed, Seriously,

43:55

you watch that. I've watched the games on TV, obviously,

43:58

But I mean, I do think.

43:59

That people care about him, and they care about

44:01

seeing him on the sideline and the yeah,

44:04

I wouldn't put all.

44:05

Right, Well, at least at the game

44:08

in stadium. It's it's not

44:10

much of a show. Put it that way.

44:12

You know, it's just there's nothing. There's there's

44:15

nothing to see here. Literally.

44:17

Well, I think they're going to be a lot more exciting

44:19

when Ben Johnson's there next year. Definitely

44:22

going to be a lot more into into what's.

44:24

Happening with I would be. I just don't think

44:26

that's gonna happen now. I speed.

44:29

Thanks for the call, Buddy, Yep.

44:31

I just think it's it's interesting how it worked out with

44:33

Slater's gonna kind of get all the attention here

44:35

in the pre game and probably during the game, and

44:38

you know that's what the focus is going to be. But after

44:40

the game, you know that. I think that's when this attention

44:43

kind of turns to, like Bill, but Matthew Slater's

44:45

gonna suck up all this like it's.

44:46

Not ever going to be remembered for the Toylet Bowl game. I'll

44:48

tell you that it's gonna be remembered for for Bill. I

44:51

agree, it's in after the game until

44:53

after you're railing it like it's gonna that's that's

44:56

what you know. I think that's why we need an extended

44:59

postgame show today. And I know hour

45:01

you're mocking me, but that's what we're gonna have to do and

45:04

we might have a segment where we can maybe talk about

45:06

your greatest moments post game

45:08

show history. Work

45:12

that into the third hour of the post game, but we definitely

45:14

mean you're gonna have to produce that during the game.

45:17

They're going to sit there and go it's all Bill all the time.

45:19

Speaking of

45:22

leaving here today, m hmm, I

45:24

want I'm gonna follow you out and do that back

45:26

things all right. I want nothing to do with Route one. I

45:28

don't think the breakdown lanes are open. No on

45:32

the route tied up.

45:33

But four hours after the game, it should be fine

45:36

once we get to the extended post game.

45:38

What is it, Tamarrow, I am not opposed.

45:41

Don't yell at me. I'm sorry.

45:43

I'm not opposed to the thought that that

45:45

halftime this could be zero zero.

45:48

I don't know.

45:48

I mean, we got to see what it looks like when we get out there,

45:51

but I mean early on it didn't seem I mean, it's definitely

45:53

wet weather. I mean they're

45:55

so bad. I don't know.

45:57

I don't think you need weather for these teams to turn

45:59

it over. Last week, you watched

46:01

last night, by the way, watch

46:03

I did watch last night.

46:05

Talking about turnovers. Hole, wasn't

46:07

it?

46:08

I mean, considering what the weather, wasn't it? What was

46:11

okay to see me?

46:12

The first one?

46:13

Two each?

46:14

Right?

46:15

I thought they both fumbled twice. Two

46:17

weeks I thought there were five turnovers.

46:19

Oh maybe I missed one here, you could be right.

46:22

The last game, by the way, I thought, was really well

46:24

played. Like two teams that I think

46:27

are kind of Midland, but they they both

46:29

played well, Houston and Indie,

46:31

and I thought put you know, put

46:34

a lot into it and one of the.

46:35

Most extensive looks I've gotten in c J. Stroud so

46:37

far. Just impressed with him.

46:39

Some really really big time throws under

46:42

extreme duress, real good bass,

46:44

so you are allowed to complete passes while under pressure.

46:47

Did you guys see that the Cardinals are have decided to

46:49

stick with Calamary.

46:50

That's what they're saying, And I mean that's and we'll see

46:52

if that if that does stick. I mean, everybody you

46:54

know says things right now that want to reassure

46:56

people. But you know, between

46:59

him and Justin f there's you know, so much

47:01

that's going to happen in the next week that will

47:03

indicate what how the draft

47:06

might potentially play out depending on where the Patriots

47:08

are, But nobody's got more intrigued

47:10

than Chicago right now. Those guys got it.

47:12

But I do think that both of those teams have done

47:14

Whether they do it or not, I don't know, but they've done

47:16

a nice job of getting making it knowing

47:18

that we're sticking with Fields, were sticking with Maria.

47:21

So that means we're open for business, you know

47:23

what I mean.

47:24

Right, if you want them, come get them, right.

47:26

You're getting it out there that we're planning on sticking

47:28

with what we have. We don't need, we don't need these

47:30

picks. We don't need to hold on. If you want it, you

47:33

know, come and get it.

47:35

If you want to come and get it. I

47:37

guess.

47:38

I guess it was two weeks. It seemed like a

47:40

lot more than that.

47:40

Oh, I mean that game was a mess though it was

47:42

a sloppy mess. There

47:45

was a lot of drop passes, a lot of it

47:48

might have been only four turnovers hardy, but to your point,

47:50

the ball was on the ground a lot more than that.

47:52

Washington lose seventh straight since they beat the Patriots. Yeah,

47:54

so it's the same thing as like Chicago last year. Where it's

47:56

like one team comes in here and somehow handles the

47:58

Patriots no problem, then goes on to not the

48:01

only.

48:01

Difference is Washington has scemarily gotten rid of

48:03

all their players since then.

48:04

Yeah, but yeah, now that

48:06

that is a tank to uh tank

48:08

to remember.

48:09

That's a tank to remember. How about

48:11

how about Melvin and Tennessee Melvin

48:14

joining us on the Patriots pre game fuel by

48:17

Duncanaheim. Melvin, tell me how

48:19

was going on?

48:20

He Hey, so

48:22

a hearty decision last show. Then

48:25

you you know you've been awesome? Uh yeah,

48:28

hopefully come back. But if not, then

48:31

of course I understand what it sucks,

48:33

like the rest of everything else in this season. But

48:37

one question I want to ask with

48:40

the defysive end like outside linebacker

48:42

role with the team since Judns went

48:44

down and the you know just getting

48:47

concept, you know, pressure on the on the

48:49

passer, how do you all feel

48:51

that we need to address that with

48:54

you know, the other sixty issues we got like have

48:56

do you think anybody's developed? Do you think that's another

48:59

position we have to completely blow up and

49:01

start over? Just where do

49:03

you think we are going forward with filling

49:06

that role again? Pressure on the path, Yeah, I

49:08

think.

49:08

I mean, I think it's really important to try

49:10

to find who's the next Judon, Who's the next

49:12

three down edge player, who can stop

49:15

the run, and you don't get after the quarterback.

49:17

I think they missed Judon. They were able to kind of piece it together.

49:20

Jennings's big stout piece on the edge.

49:22

I like him. I would bring him back, but I don't

49:24

see him as I think he's a piece of the puzzle.

49:27

But they need that next Judon.

49:29

And I mean last year we talked about, man,

49:31

what does this team do if Judon goes down?

49:33

And I think, you know, even Antoine was

49:35

in here very complimentary of the Patriots defense,

49:38

but I think when you got down to it against the pass,

49:40

they've got some shortcomings against the pass. And of course

49:43

Christian Gonzalez coming back will help, and Judon if

49:45

he continues to play at a high level, if they can figure

49:47

out contract situation with him. I think that's part of the Gudon

49:50

conversation too. But I was saying to somebody,

49:52

I mean, just to boil it down, you

49:54

got to go offense at least the first like two picks.

49:56

I mean, the only reason I could see going defense is if

49:58

you really had an outside line I'm back or

50:00

defensive end hybrid guy that you think can develop

50:02

into a three down guy. That's the only position

50:05

on defense that I would hear an argument for in

50:07

the first two days of the draft. I

50:09

think it's really important, Melvin.

50:11

I appreciate it. Thank you. Yeah,

50:14

it was a funny way now I was gonna say.

50:16

I feel like there are multiple positions like that on defense where

50:18

I hope that they can find someone to groom,

50:20

specifically a godchild and like if anything ever happened

50:23

to him.

50:24

We don't have could get some depth behind

50:26

him, you know, Kem White, I think, and bar More

50:28

help.

50:29

You know.

50:29

I think those guys though, are pretty I mean, I love how Godshaw's

50:32

played, and I think he's perfect for here. You know,

50:34

do you still have guy? I mean, there's definitely some depth

50:36

questions on those spots, but I

50:39

like what you have on at corner. I mean, I'm intrigued. I know, you

50:41

know, other people probably disagree. I think Paul will

50:43

probably disagree with me, but you

50:45

know, finding some guys here, I

50:47

mean I think Isaiah Bolden was somebody that would like kind

50:49

of looked good this summer, and you know, unfortunately got hurt in that last

50:52

game. Alex Austin's played pretty well. So you

50:54

lost Jack Jones this year, but you got

50:56

Alex Austin, who's a rookie, so you you know, have

50:58

at least some young depth to kind of play with once

51:01

you know, and it gun's alas and and Jonathan

51:03

Jones continues to play at a high level. So they

51:05

got some stuff. I wonder how they're gona address the slot though,

51:07

it is Marcus Jones ready for that slot role? Do they

51:09

bring back Myles Brian? I know, he's kind

51:11

of a you know, guy that brings up a lot

51:13

of debate of you know, a guy

51:16

that can do a lot, but is he ideally

51:18

suited to play a full time slot role in in a

51:20

man to man defense. That might be a little bit

51:22

tough sell. But they got some moose to make. But otherwise

51:25

it's like tackles, gotta find

51:27

tackles and you gotta find some tight ends. You gotta

51:29

figure what you're doing there.

51:30

Oh well, here we go. Oh we have an

51:32

active what wow?

51:33

Mac Jones Matt Jones.

51:35

So so he'll be the third quarterback. But quite

51:38

interestingly enough, that means that

51:40

our second quarterback is is

51:42

Nathan Rock. I

51:45

don't know what that means, but Jamichael

51:47

Hasty is out, so I

51:49

think it's big. Kevin Harris day, I mean, I think you look

51:51

at this weather. I think Kevin Harris

51:53

got a lot of juice left.

51:54

People just listening right now as opposed

51:57

to looking.

51:57

At Sorry, nope,

52:00

nope has been fired. Matt Jones, Taekwon

52:03

Thornton, Josh bled Soe, you know Michael,

52:05

He's see Michael Peedaway, which

52:07

is interesting. Trenton Brown and Sam Roberts.

52:11

Yeah, so Thornton, that's a that's

52:13

a little bit of a red flag to me. Petaway

52:16

was just promoted to the active roster. He's

52:18

been here about a week and and then the's inactive. So I

52:20

guess Matt Sokele was promoted. He'll

52:22

be he'll be the second or third or third tight end,

52:24

I guess. But Thornton

52:27

just kind of a disappointing cap to

52:29

uh to really disappointing first two years of

52:31

his career.

52:32

And what's with mac being the emergence.

52:34

Yeah, that's that's that's interesting to

52:36

unpack. I'm not sick. I

52:38

mean that means Ma's not going in unless

52:40

both Zappi and Rourke get hurt.

52:43

So but why why

52:45

do that?

52:45

Now?

52:46

That seems weird, I

52:49

talk about disrespectful. I don't

52:51

know.

52:51

I don't know that that seems odd.

52:53

But there were some posting

52:55

that like Rourke and Zappi were doing most

52:58

of the warming up and that Mac.

52:59

Was just yeah, and that's with Mac

53:01

warming up in the locker room. Did

53:03

he get to do that?

53:05

No, that's been the question,

53:07

and I've had some people they've done

53:09

that.

53:09

Be forward Tomara.

53:10

You know, we've been talking a little bit about just

53:12

you know, what Max Roll has been since he's kind of been

53:14

benched, and you know, I had brought up like I just don't really

53:16

see him running out with the guys that don't see him on the

53:18

bench. I mean, some people, you know, send me some things

53:21

of you know, when they beat Denver and you know you saw

53:23

some celebration from Mac and you know you did see like

53:25

he was part of it. But he's just he kind of feels

53:27

removed from it right now. And that's why this move

53:30

doesn't really seem all that surprise.

53:31

He doesn't seem like he's a part of it out there. But

53:33

you know, during warm ups though to deuce his

53:35

point. I mean, you don't see that, do you, Tamara.

53:38

No, And if he's the backup, you know, especially where they're

53:40

like going through like here's what they're doing.

53:42

It's just it struck me as weird. And

53:45

this this kind of continues to follow it. You

53:47

know, I wonder, I think Max's

53:49

probably gone, Like I think they probably let him

53:51

go get a fresh start somewhere. But I can't help but wonder

53:54

if there was a new regime to come in,

53:56

do you want to give him a chance? Like if you're gonna play like,

53:59

look he's in, he's an ass, you

54:01

don't have a quarterback, you know, is

54:03

there a harm in just letting him stay here with Zappy

54:05

and compete. Granted we're going to bring in a veteran,

54:08

we're going to bring in probably a rookie high

54:10

round draft pick too. I don't know. I

54:12

still think leaning towards Mac is probably gone.

54:14

And with this today him being

54:16

the third quarterback, I do wonder if it's like we

54:18

got to move on from him and give him a fresh

54:20

start somewhere else. But I still, if it's

54:22

a whole new thing, would you maybe want to

54:25

keep him around just to see I don't know.

54:26

It depends on how I think you just

54:29

touched on it, Deuce. Is it

54:31

all new, like everything's new new

54:33

coach new o. See, you

54:35

know, there's really the what about the system?

54:38

There is no system. The system is going

54:40

to be the one that we start here in the twenty

54:42

twenty four season. And if that's the case,

54:44

then I don't know why you would need Mac here.

54:46

Yeah.

54:46

Well, and if you come in and you liked Mac, like what

54:49

if it's somebody out there was like, look, I was on another

54:51

team at the time. We really like this kid. What I you know,

54:53

I don't think the Patriots did him any favors. You

54:56

know, maybe we can at least maybe we can try

54:58

to get something more out of him. I don't It's

55:00

just it's such an important position. I draft

55:02

one every year. I'm just not in the business of

55:05

casting them off, even if they've had, you know, a

55:07

terrible run here and they seem like they're broken.

55:09

It's just I think long and hard before casting off

55:12

an asset at the most you know, important position.

55:14

Despite all the things that kind of went wrong.

55:16

This year, but I think that's the I mean, obviously

55:18

Mac had a really bad hand dealt

55:20

to him. But I feel like the NFL like you're

55:22

going to face a lot of adversity and if you can't

55:25

overcome it, like

55:27

you can't stay here, like Bailey

55:30

Zappy, Like, for example, the past two weeks, he's been

55:32

rough, but he's kept playing. If Mac

55:34

Jones started a game with a strip, sack

55:36

or a pick six, it's game over. There's an

55:38

hour and half left in the game, it's it's over.

55:40

He can't shake it off.

55:42

Yeah, And I wonder how much the team realized

55:44

that too. Like it's just I don't

55:46

know, I having watched this team, and I

55:48

don't want to make a big deal lot of how different it was with

55:50

Zappi and Mac, because I think generally it was kind

55:52

of the same. But I just I

55:54

can't help but kind of feel like there

55:57

are a few more guys rallying with Zappi

55:59

than their mine have been with Mac, or or maybe it's just

56:02

the fact that it's snowballed on Mac and he lost some

56:04

guys along the way. But I

56:06

don't know it Just the signs right now to me are

56:08

pointing that he's just on the outs and he will

56:10

be released at some point very

56:13

soon within.

56:13

The offseason, would you do

56:15

you think he's worth anything?

56:17

I mean a conditional, A conditional that's

56:19

probably what it, you know, a sixth that or

56:22

maybe a seventh that turns into a sixth if he hits playing

56:24

time incentives. I mean something like that. But

56:26

you know, I do think Mac deserves

56:29

could deserve a fresh start, you know. And I

56:31

do think that there were a lot of things that happened here that weren't necessarily

56:33

fair to him, that didn't maximize what he does.

56:36

I just I don't know. It's a great question of can you unbreak

56:38

somebody like that who's just so in their

56:41

own head, And maybe sitting these last

56:43

few games has given him a newer perspective. But it

56:45

just feels like if he's ever to get back, it's probably not going to

56:47

happen here.

56:48

Before Josh got fired, I was thinking like, oh,

56:50

he could go to the Raiders and have you know, Josh

56:53

back, he could have Jacoby, like I was

56:55

thinking that maybe that could be a spot where he could, yeah

56:58

and get back into it.

56:59

But I don't know.

56:59

Now, Yeah, one more thing just to highlight too. Evan just

57:01

wrote about it in his an Active Analysis, But like,

57:03

how about Gibril Peppers like coming

57:05

back for the last game, like overcoming a

57:08

hamsteng injury, like anybody

57:10

could have just shut it down, like, look, I'm banged

57:12

up, this is a wet field, and you

57:15

know, not ideal situations, but you

57:17

talk about moving forward guys that you want to build around,

57:19

no question, Gabril Peppers is is

57:22

a player that's shown a lot of toughness and resilience,

57:24

and I just I think he's one of these emerging

57:26

leaders of this team that I would continue to build around.

57:28

It's like what he said in Germany when somebody asked him,

57:30

like would you ever consider playing flag football? And he's like,

57:33

Hell, I'm a violent guy. I like to hit people. Like I feel like

57:35

he's a guy who like after being sidelined

57:37

for two weeks, he's like, I want to get back out there, even for it's

57:39

just one more game, Like I want to get back out there.

57:41

I just really like his energy and if

57:44

you haven't seen him in that Michigan

57:46

Washington video, it's so funny. Did

57:48

you watch the video, Hardy, Look who's gonna

57:51

win the National Championship?

57:52

I did not.

57:52

It's so funny.

57:54

Basically, he thinks Michigan.

57:56

Basically don't root against anybody

57:59

that he played.

58:00

Oh, I seen it. Actually

58:03

one more question.

58:04

I don't mean to cut you off, but you know, do

58:06

you think maybe this is a sign they're going to give Rourke a chance

58:09

to get into the game today? Like, I

58:11

don't know, just I mean to one end though, I don't

58:14

know.

58:14

I mean, why what?

58:15

What?

58:15

What would be the point? At a boy from

58:19

the at a boy for what years

58:21

of service?

58:22

Nice?

58:23

I thank

58:26

you for all the time he spent here.

58:29

He got everybody really nice Christmas gifts and

58:31

they were like, these hats are great, let's give him some playing

58:33

time.

58:33

Did you see what? Did you see what Tua

58:36

gave the quarterback room, which I've never

58:38

heard of the quarterback giving guys to guys,

58:40

gives to the offensive line. Yes,

58:43

because Patrick Mahomes gave the quarterbacks.

58:45

Yes, what Tua gave everybody in the quarterback

58:48

room. He goes, I can't wait for you to open. This

58:50

is gonna be awesome.

58:51

Big box.

58:51

They opened up the box and I was like, what is

58:53

it? Guy goes, Oh, it's a golf simulator

58:57

and marinos standing there like for after

58:59

the season, right, He goes, yeah,

59:01

Well, I didn't get one for Uncle Dare because he's already

59:04

got one. Be

59:06

awesome. And I'm looking at that thing, and as

59:08

a golfer, I looked at it and said, oh

59:10

my god. So now I gotta take this thing home,

59:13

put it together. I gotta find room in my

59:15

house for the net and the moth in Florida

59:18

and you live in Florida, Like, that's.

59:20

An odd gift.

59:20

It's a really really odd gift. And

59:24

far be it from me to you know, say

59:26

it's not good, But I doubt

59:29

it's very good. If you can get a golf simulator

59:31

in.

59:31

A box, it's just a screen and a projector

59:33

probably.

59:34

I don't even know if it's that that's weird.

59:37

The screen. They're like, you got to hang a sheet up, like you know,

59:39

and then your wife's like, we can't use the you know, the multi

59:41

threat count sheets.

59:42

You gotta get a crappy So I gotta go home

59:44

and I gotta Now, I gotta take away a room in my

59:46

house.

59:47

And I got it all right, it's the baby's

59:49

room.

59:50

Not even come on, don't you have room? No, I'm a backup

59:52

quarterback. I'm the third. I'm third

59:54

on the depth chart. I'm renting an apartment.

59:57

It's a major award. I gotta set it up.

1:00:01

Or it could be a bowling alley.

1:00:03

So good send the deed before

1:00:05

we take another call.

1:00:06

And if you were doing another doing emails.

1:00:08

There's a very weird tweet saying

1:00:11

former Raiders coach and Patriots offensive

1:00:13

cordinator Josh McDaniels spotted entering

1:00:15

vip ga age. Let's see.

1:00:16

Wow, he's here for Slater. That's

1:00:19

weird.

1:00:19

You can watch on TV.

1:00:21

Well, oh, he's calling place. He's

1:00:23

calling place for Rook.

1:00:25

Where's the VIP game the one right over here?

1:00:28

No, no, is it?

1:00:30

That's I would think.

1:00:32

I've never been a VIP in my life.

1:00:33

I don't know, never, not anywhere now.

1:00:35

On Josh, Josh in the building.

1:00:38

That's weird.

1:00:40

All right, let's get to the emails here, Nick

1:00:42

and Tucson. Look, I don't care what it does for our draft

1:00:44

position. We have a ninety nine point ninety

1:00:46

five percent chance of having a top five pick, and

1:00:48

beyond that, the order at the top of the draft is highly

1:00:50

dependent on how the rest of the game's unfold toeday. My

1:00:53

best friend is a Jets fan. We've been friends

1:00:55

for about seven years now, Jets have never

1:00:58

won as long as we've known each other. Keep

1:01:00

the streak alive. F tj

1:01:04

Uh.

1:01:06

Yuck Frederick Thomas yach filled

1:01:08

the jugs.

1:01:08

Phil, Excuse me, you

1:01:11

don't know what FTJ means.

1:01:14

Forget the Jets, Forget the Jets.

1:01:16

Forget you get that Jets to do

1:01:18

that? That was the dub. Then you get after

1:01:20

the move forget you.

1:01:22

Yeah. Well, when they show scarface

1:01:24

on regular TV, I go

1:01:27

right before the cop gets shot.

1:01:31

All right, let's step aside here. We'll

1:01:34

continue with your phone calls eight five to five pats, five

1:01:36

hundred more of your emails. We'll get to our Sundays

1:01:39

six pack and our over unders and a strange

1:01:41

noise that sounded like somebody

1:01:44

trying to drill a hole through the roof

1:01:46

of my mouth. I don't think that's what that

1:01:48

was, though. So instead, we

1:01:50

can't go to break just yet. So instead

1:01:53

I will tell you a tale of no

1:01:56

I'll read. Oh, now we can go to break.

1:01:59

I think I feel admirably in that eight

1:02:01

seconds side to film I own. Thank you very much.

I have put McDonald's in twenty years.

Do you get your big match?

I don't even want to know him?

Live from our studios inside Julette Stadium.

Here's Hardy.

1:08:37

I don't know if a member of this show has

1:08:39

ever done more to distance

1:08:42

himself personally professionally,

1:08:44

more so than Mike do So did last week

1:08:47

when he talked about not going to McDonald's.

1:08:50

Now he doesn't go, and that's

1:08:52

stuck with me.

1:08:53

Unfortunate because he doesn't really carry himself like

1:08:55

that.

1:08:55

Huh yeah. He seems like in

1:08:57

Everyman and it turns out

1:08:59

out to eat, which he's not.

1:09:01

He's not in every Man, but he does carry.

1:09:03

Himself like one, right, which

1:09:05

makes him duplicitous. Oh

1:09:08

big words.

1:09:09

From such a.

1:09:11

Words from a big man. I

1:09:14

wish Balboa.

1:09:15

Well, I I'm

1:09:17

sorry for McDonald's just he was a

1:09:19

great champion.

1:09:20

I wish him well.

1:09:21

I thought I did a good job explaining his time. Never

1:09:24

on the run. Really, I never needed to just drop

1:09:26

in and get some McDonald's. But I apologize.

1:09:29

I do.

1:09:30

Does does Duncan count if I have a Duncan egg sandwich

1:09:32

in the morning's no, you.

1:09:34

That's the same as McDonald's. Un

1:09:37

don't know, But I'm talking about Duncan

1:09:41

is Gormet food, the food of the people. Duncan

1:09:43

is. That's why I said, never mind, I love him.

1:09:48

I only eat from fine bakeries.

1:09:50

Going to those up in the press box. It seems

1:09:52

like it's getting pretty nasty, getting pretty nasty. I'm not

1:09:54

looking forward to this ride home.

1:09:56

No no, But you know, by the time we get

1:09:58

out of here in the nine o'clock is.

1:10:00

Fine, exactly after the four hour post, get

1:10:02

Fred and well three three. I don't want to exaggerate.

1:10:05

See Josh McDaniels. See if can get Josh McDaniels

1:10:07

down into the studio. He's up in the up in the suite.

1:10:09

I guess today watching for Slater.

1:10:12

I guess, yeah, sure,

1:10:14

Well that's just a theory.

1:10:16

Yeah, maybe why Josh McDaniels

1:10:18

is here because it's Slater's last game.

1:10:20

Maybe he's part of Bill's grand plan tomorrow

1:10:22

in the pitch and he's like, look, I already had Josh in the building.

1:10:24

He likes what we got. We're gonna just tweak

1:10:26

a couple of things and bring Josh back. Boom, Josh

1:10:29

am Bill O'Brien.

1:10:31

He hadn't seen any of our games yet this year,

1:10:33

so I gave him my ticket.

1:10:36

It's pretty remarkable though, we were, you know, Josh,

1:10:38

that.

1:10:39

Josh McDaniels still hasn't you know, a

1:10:41

fondness of Bill Belichick and wants to see him

1:10:43

coaches last game with the Patriots.

1:10:45

How did Josh Josh McDaniels was in was a

1:10:47

coach of the Raiders for probably like what twenty four

1:10:49

games and somehow, including preseason, he found the way

1:10:51

to beat the Patriots three times in the

1:10:54

in like the less than what fourteen

1:10:56

months?

1:10:57

You want to add like the I don't know twenty

1:11:00

games. Did he coach the Broncos if right?

1:11:04

I mean Josh knows how to beat Bill?

1:11:05

I guess yeah, yeah, Well Matt

1:11:07

Patricia figured it out with the Lions. Josh

1:11:10

figured it out in both Denver and Las Vegas.

1:11:12

Gabel, do you think all of the guys that beat Bill

1:11:14

just like they go to the teams and they just say, like, just

1:11:16

don't do something stupid right and

1:11:19

you'll win. They don't have any other plan.

1:11:21

The plan is to wait for you to do something stupid.

1:11:24

I mean, I don't know the common threads off the top

1:11:26

of my head, but it's it's pretty remarkable. Even like you

1:11:28

know'll Beflow had some success. I mean, I mean

1:11:31

Beefool got hammered, but he also really

1:11:33

hurt the Patriots with that last lost thy Yeah.

1:11:35

And I think that was an impressive win because

1:11:37

there was an enormous gap in talent.

1:11:38

Patrios had nothing to play for, and they

1:11:41

came in here and went and won that one. That was a

1:11:43

sign of the decline.

1:11:47

Let's go back to the phones here. I have a special

1:11:49

something to talk to Michelle in South Carolina

1:11:51

about right now. Michelle, thanks for being

1:11:54

on the show. Are you watching or just listening?

1:11:57

I am watching and listen.

1:12:00

And what do you see me wearing right now? Michelle?

1:12:03

A Christmas present, that's

1:12:05

right.

1:12:06

Which wasn't meant for me. But once

1:12:08

all the gifts were handed out, this was

1:12:10

left as it did not fit any of the other

1:12:13

uh intended recipients. T

1:12:15

Bone got his, and and Zoe and

1:12:17

Beatle both got theirs. And there was an extra

1:12:20

Well, there was this extra garment

1:12:22

left that happened to be in my size,

1:12:24

and I said, oh, I really like that and I'm taking

1:12:27

it, so thank you, Michelle.

1:12:30

Oh I, oh

1:12:32

no, Beetle didn't get one.

1:12:34

I don't know. Uh, well, Milken didn't get

1:12:37

one, Michelle, I don't

1:12:39

I don't know who didn't get what. But all

1:12:41

I know is I got this and I'm very happy

1:12:43

with it.

1:12:45

Oh well, I'm glad. Yes, thank

1:12:47

your morning show going.

1:12:49

Yes, it's early. You're not listening to Michelle.

1:12:52

Yeah, thanks for listening. Unbelievable.

1:12:54

No, I wake up too

1:12:57

late because I go to bed too late. But I vomited

1:13:00

in next week.

1:13:01

Okay, all right, that'll be good. What

1:13:04

are you gonna? What do you think? What do you think about

1:13:06

today? Michelle? What are you looking forward to in this

1:13:08

game?

1:13:10

Oh it's such a weird day,

1:13:12

isn't it. I don't even know how to feel.

1:13:15

Yeah, yeah, like I want

1:13:17

him gone, but I feel bad. Problem

1:13:20

because of everything he's been

1:13:22

hearing about himself.

1:13:23

Yeah, I never feel bad for somebody who makes twenty five

1:13:26

dollars a year. That person doesn't

1:13:28

know.

1:13:30

Ut that's true.

1:13:32

I don't know.

1:13:33

I guess I'm looking. I

1:13:35

don't know the weather out there, I don't know what

1:13:38

they're going to be playing in. I'm

1:13:41

just looking for them to win. I

1:13:43

really want them to get kind of I

1:13:46

don't care about the I think

1:13:49

his knee injury. I think

1:13:52

he'll be fine.

1:13:53

I really do.

1:13:54

I like him the most. But my

1:13:57

curiosity is if

1:14:00

I don't know about the games that my thing

1:14:02

is when Bill leaves, whoever

1:14:06

comes back, whoever comes in. I'm

1:14:08

thinking of Rabel type

1:14:10

or they're going to do something with Mayo.

1:14:13

But if they do bring Josh back

1:14:15

in, how does

1:14:18

that work with Bill

1:14:20

O'Brien. And do

1:14:23

old players or or

1:14:28

do other players in the league

1:14:30

see us as changing?

1:14:33

And now is it easier for

1:14:35

us to get better players coming

1:14:38

in because there is now going

1:14:40

to be some.

1:14:41

Sort of change.

1:14:43

Well, I don't

1:14:45

think it's going to affect it all that much in terms

1:14:48

of the uh, you know who's

1:14:50

coaching here. It has mostly I

1:14:52

think it has mostly to do with

1:14:55

Are you willing to spend the money on free agents

1:14:57

if that's what you're talking about getting players

1:14:59

in and whether or not whether

1:15:02

or not that person is going to be able to make a difference.

1:15:04

Let's face it, you know, not not every team

1:15:06

was in on DeAndre Hopkins because not every

1:15:08

team, uh you know, had had

1:15:11

that need for his particular skill

1:15:13

set a wide receiver. But if you do, and

1:15:16

you know there's a player out there it's being quartered by several

1:15:18

teams, are you willing to pay that player

1:15:20

what that player wants to make in order to play football?

1:15:23

And if you do, chances are you'll get

1:15:25

them. I mean, I think we overthink

1:15:27

this probably too often. It's like, oh,

1:15:29

who wants to play there? Who wants to play there? Guys

1:15:31

will play in Green Bay, Guys will

1:15:34

play in teams We've seen guys go

1:15:36

to Arizona and Tampa and everywhere

1:15:38

else. Why money? And that's

1:15:41

that's what ends up deciding it more often than

1:15:43

not, I think, Michelle.

1:15:45

One more question, Okay, it is

1:15:47

the number one team for Belichick?

1:15:50

Would it be Atlanta?

1:15:53

I think that's a really good one. I think

1:15:55

that's a I think that's a good sort

1:15:58

of under the radar one. I know, like I think

1:16:00

Schefter had something that's sort of vaguely

1:16:02

connected, you know, Bill. But I think

1:16:04

there's some talent on that roster, and

1:16:08

I I don't think

1:16:10

that.

1:16:10

That's completely out of the realm

1:16:12

of possibility. Now.

1:16:14

I think there's gonna be a lot of interesting teams that

1:16:16

you can talk yourself into, like the Chargers,

1:16:18

you know, with Herbert and

1:16:21

you know, Washington with sort of a new regime

1:16:23

and all that, you know, and there's

1:16:25

gonna be others that you don't even know right now. You

1:16:28

know, a lot of people say that the

1:16:30

Raiders would love to make a big swing, you

1:16:32

know, something like that. I

1:16:35

think Atlanta is one that you know, Tampa.

1:16:37

If Tampa loses today to Carolina

1:16:40

and winds up outside of the playoffs, even

1:16:43

if Tampa wins, I could see them making a change

1:16:45

from from Todd Bowles. That's another

1:16:47

one he's got, you know, spends

1:16:49

a lot of time down in Florida.

1:16:51

It's perfect right right back to

1:16:53

Tampa.

1:16:54

Talk about the symmetry there you go. But yeah,

1:16:56

I think that you could talk yourself into a lot of different

1:16:58

places. But I agree with Hardy's point about the

1:17:01

free agency and the short term, if you pay

1:17:03

more money than other teams are willing to pay, you're gonna

1:17:05

get them otherwise, right now, you don't have

1:17:07

any inherent advantages.

1:17:09

Yeah, that's what I wonder about with I mean, we had

1:17:11

twenty years and the explosion of social

1:17:13

media and new media that have all happened, you

1:17:15

know, from two thousand to now. I just

1:17:18

there is a part of me that wonders how a

1:17:20

Patriots team that you know, isn't dominant

1:17:23

year after year after year kind of fits in to

1:17:26

the landscape. Are they you know, can they remain

1:17:28

one of these big, you know, high drawing

1:17:31

teams or you know, is it gonna be

1:17:33

harder if you're not so dominant

1:17:35

being where you are geographically? I mean, I think that the fan

1:17:38

base is really passionate here, but it's

1:17:40

just it's it's hard to imagine what things are like without

1:17:43

Bill Belichick and constantly kind of

1:17:45

winning.

1:17:45

Michelle, Thanks for the call. Were you appreciated. We'll talk

1:17:47

to you later, Okay,

1:17:50

Okay, thanks you too. Thank you. Back

1:17:55

to the emails here, Joe and Weymouth,

1:17:58

congrats. I'm making a lousy foot all season

1:18:00

palatable, a little bit negative

1:18:02

at times, hard not to be, but entertaining. Here's

1:18:05

what I hope for, listed most

1:18:07

important, from top to bottom. Okay, this

1:18:09

is for a new host or

1:18:11

for the new team. This

1:18:13

is for today's game. Oh and beyond

1:18:16

game. Okay, play well but lose,

1:18:18

maybe lose a game, maybe lose a close

1:18:20

game. Will joinking a sixty yard field goal

1:18:23

attempt at the end. No, I'm supposed

1:18:25

to hit the Jets, but I want the better draft position

1:18:27

number two, No injuries, number three, keep

1:18:30

Bill. Believe Bill's hatred

1:18:32

for the Jets could be as downfall as a win today

1:18:34

when the grafts for a loss, maybe the

1:18:37

final straw. Ironically, losing

1:18:39

today may save his job. See

1:18:41

you next year, Joe and Weymouth. You know, I don't

1:18:43

think anything to do

1:18:46

with the outcome of today's game is anything

1:18:48

to do the last say, six

1:18:51

or seven games. I still

1:18:53

say that after you got the win against

1:18:55

Pittsburgh, had you run the table,

1:18:58

that would have given them reason to

1:19:00

rethink things. That's just human, that's

1:19:03

just being human.

1:19:04

It's it's kind of interesting to me, what you

1:19:06

know, if there was one, if there was one, if

1:19:09

there's one thing left from the

1:19:12

dynasty. Right now, there's one thing left

1:19:14

right now?

1:19:14

What is it?

1:19:15

Jets? Right, You've beaten them fifteen straight times. That's

1:19:17

kind of the only thing left right, like of and

1:19:20

so if it were to end, but

1:19:22

if it were to end today, it almost

1:19:25

puts a period on all of it, you know, Like

1:19:27

that's kind of if it were to end today,

1:19:30

there's nothing really left and you know, and then Bill

1:19:32

leaves it.

1:19:33

I want to thank the guys in studio

1:19:35

for fixing the overtime. Avoid overtime.

1:19:38

Overtime that is a good

1:19:40

key over time avoid Oh no, I

1:19:42

get it, hardy and just to like

1:19:45

finish up our, you know. And we talked

1:19:48

about this a couple of weeks ago. I think after the Pittsburgh

1:19:50

game, I feel

1:19:52

like, especially in retrospect, but I feel

1:19:55

like you read this story about

1:19:57

the Andrew Callahan Doug Kuyde story about the function.

1:20:00

Sure, and you see when that sort of started,

1:20:03

yep, like February,

1:20:07

Like I think it's been over for a while. Like

1:20:11

I think unless they had, like you

1:20:13

know what, I didn't think it was gonna work either. They had a lot

1:20:15

of dysfunction heading into the season, and all of a sudden

1:20:17

they went eleven and six. Well you know, it's

1:20:20

nothing to see here. They they straightened it all

1:20:22

out.

1:20:22

I'm sure you guys talked like if whether they.

1:20:24

Went four and thirteen or six and eleven

1:20:27

or you know nine,

1:20:30

like this is dysfunction and when we

1:20:33

can't live with this?

1:20:33

Yeah, well, I don't know how much you guys did talk

1:20:36

about that because it was what

1:20:38

Thursday when it came out. Did you do much of it on

1:20:40

Thursday show? Yeah? We had a whole We had a whole

1:20:42

show, okay, like

1:20:46

high highlighted passages.

1:20:48

I did.

1:20:49

But I do think that and again,

1:20:51

those stories, I understand are often

1:20:53

met with some skepticism because

1:20:56

they're littered with in anonymous

1:20:58

quotes. But I do think not getting enough

1:21:01

there's a.

1:21:04

Is that is that who who?

1:21:06

Sometimes the twist just goes

1:21:09

watched.

1:21:11

I was watching that yesterday too. Were really.

1:21:15

You?

1:21:16

I don't know about you. I cannot watch

1:21:19

fifteen minutes of one, Season

1:21:22

two, episode three and not be like, well,

1:21:24

now, I mean, well, now I'm here Sopranos.

1:21:29

Did you not watch the Sopranos?

1:21:30

No, well, you guys are probably gonna

1:21:32

attack me again.

1:21:33

I attacked.

1:21:35

No, I watched I recently. I hadn't

1:21:37

watched it. I recently tried to when I got into season

1:21:39

one, and then I just kind of lost it, and I apologize.

1:21:42

I walked out of the studio one time with Andy

1:21:44

Hart sitting in that chair. I almost

1:21:47

walked out again with the McDonald's thing last

1:21:49

week now, and I want to watch it right now.

1:21:51

I watched The Sopranos for a few

1:21:53

episode season one. I just kind of lost

1:21:56

interest. You lost interest in the Sopranos,

1:21:58

did you? I now? And it

1:22:01

was okay, all right, I know, I

1:22:03

know, I'm terrible. I too had

1:22:06

all kinds of stuff from the Gallahan story

1:22:08

that I made separate notes on. But to

1:22:10

your point, Paul about the organization,

1:22:13

and it started not February but last

1:22:16

January when Bill had

1:22:18

no intention of running the search for

1:22:21

an offensive coordinator in good faith.

1:22:23

I loved my boy Jim Murray and Tony doing

1:22:25

their little thing on that. This week, Tony's

1:22:27

like, yeah, I want Bill, I

1:22:30

want you to find a new offensive coordinator.

1:22:34

Yeah, okay, I'm on that, boss. Like,

1:22:38

I just feel like it wasn't done

1:22:40

in good faith. They brought in like former

1:22:44

you know, Bill's former players and

1:22:47

a guy who was already the offensive coordinator here

1:22:49

and who got it like, yeah,

1:22:52

you didn't really open up any sort of

1:22:55

new ground to you know, explore

1:22:58

opportunities to maybe better the offense

1:23:00

or better the team. So I

1:23:03

think barring an unexpected really

1:23:06

strong season, I think yeah,

1:23:09

I think there was a I think

1:23:11

there's a really good argument to be made that the Crafts

1:23:13

knew that this was Bill's last year before

1:23:16

the.

1:23:16

Season, as soon as how we reacted to when

1:23:19

they kind of took the reins that first week

1:23:21

of the offseason and sent the letter to the fans and said

1:23:23

things are gonna be different, and you know, it's just it's

1:23:25

one of the It's been one of the hardest kind of things I've

1:23:27

had to try to you know, buy is

1:23:30

the is the notion of Bill

1:23:32

Belichick not wanting to do something and

1:23:34

personally being like, well, if that's how you want it, then it's

1:23:36

gonna go bad, and we'll just have to let it go bad then,

1:23:39

you know, that kind of self defeating kind

1:23:41

of way. That's one of the hardest years side.

1:23:43

You know how I read that and we talked about it on

1:23:45

Thursday. It's like, oh, all

1:23:48

right, new offensive coordinator.

1:23:50

All right, that's a first

1:23:52

round Christian Gonzales defense, second

1:23:54

round, Keon White defense, third round

1:23:57

mate Mapu defense, Like, oh,

1:23:59

let's see how you high shot can do now, like

1:24:01

and I don't like think that that's that out of

1:24:04

the realm of possibility.

1:24:05

And it's not like he did it to some unknown

1:24:07

He did that to Bill O'Brien because he thought

1:24:09

that Matt Patricia should still be there. Yes,

1:24:11

that's crazy.

1:24:12

Like, that's why I think barring some kind

1:24:14

of a unforeseen

1:24:17

Like, listen, some people thought it was gonna

1:24:19

work, you know, I

1:24:21

didn't. I didn't think it was gonna

1:24:23

work. I didn't see any changes offensively.

1:24:25

I didn't see any like noticeable

1:24:29

improvements done to the offense. The best you

1:24:31

could say was they replaced guys

1:24:33

with similar guys. Right, that's

1:24:36

not going to make you really discernibly

1:24:38

better, and ultimately

1:24:40

it didn't work.

1:24:42

Let's get back to the phones here, we get back to the

1:24:44

GNJ. I haven't heard from him in a while. Okay,

1:24:47

well, let's talk to TJ and NJ right now.

1:24:49

TJ, what's going on? Thanks for calling

1:24:51

the Patriots pregame show fueled by Duncan,

1:24:54

Thank.

1:24:55

You, Thank you.

1:24:55

I haven't called for a while, Paul

1:24:58

because I usually listed a stay late. I'm

1:25:00

never alive, but I wanted to make sure

1:25:02

I call in today and

1:25:04

wish you guys a happy.

1:25:06

New Year, and let you know my three wishes

1:25:08

for twenty.

1:25:08

Twenty four in order.

1:25:10

Number one is bringing Hardy back

1:25:13

for the free and post game show.

1:25:14

Yeah, thank you.

1:25:15

You guys are working on it, but got to

1:25:17

get that done. Number

1:25:19

two is to bring Bill Belichick

1:25:21

back.

1:25:22

I know we all think he's gone.

1:25:24

I probably think he's gone too, But you

1:25:26

know, I said for many years and Bill, I trust,

1:25:29

and it's just not right to say. And Bill, you trust

1:25:31

when it's going well.

1:25:32

And when it's not going well, you know, jump off

1:25:34

the bandwagon.

1:25:35

I was in favor of giving Brady

1:25:37

whatever he wanted for as

1:25:39

long as he wanted, given what he did for us,

1:25:42

and I feel the same way about Bill.

1:25:44

And number three, I'd love to lose

1:25:46

to the Jets.

1:25:48

And get the top three pick.

1:25:50

So those are my wishes. Party,

1:25:54

I look forward to four hours postgame show.

1:25:57

Who it is the last time.

1:25:58

I don't think any of you are funny. I don't.

1:26:00

I don't find at least am a bit of humor

1:26:03

in that whatsoever. He's something extra in the

1:26:05

envelopean, TJ,

1:26:08

thanks for the call. Thanks TJ, and do the

1:26:10

work.

1:26:10

I did to not have the four hour show.

1:26:14

But that was an actual That was a discussion

1:26:16

about having a long em with

1:26:18

the eyeball decision eyeball

1:26:21

emoji.

1:26:22

I don't know what he's talking about, Hardy, I don't know what. I thought.

1:26:24

It was a ruse that I was willing

1:26:26

to partake in, but I do have to

1:26:28

make and it seem like it's reality

1:26:31

four hours.

1:26:32

I try to I appreciate

1:26:34

you, Okay, I'm in on

1:26:36

that four hours.

1:26:38

I appreciate TJ sticking to the m

1:26:40

bill we trust because there's a

1:26:43

certain uh was smug

1:26:45

satisfaction in hearing from

1:26:48

an m bill I trust guides Like, but I

1:26:50

can't trust him anymore. I'm like, yeah, see,

1:26:53

change your tune. See. But TJ is like,

1:26:55

no, you trust him for twenty years. I trust

1:26:58

him now. That is not a unique

1:27:00

perspective. There are plenty of people, and

1:27:03

I don't think there are people who are watching every snap

1:27:05

of every game and really really

1:27:07

paying attention. But there are plenty

1:27:09

of people who just take the overall

1:27:12

view of this guy wons six super

1:27:14

Bowls with this team over the course of nearly

1:27:17

twenty years and you're not gonna and now

1:27:19

you're going to fire him. It does when you just

1:27:21

say it that way, it does seem a little silly.

1:27:23

Yeah, and I had that the pitchers are

1:27:25

starting to come in and it really does look like a

1:27:27

snowbulus. I love it, but

1:27:30

yeah, you know today I do love it because

1:27:34

the press box.

1:27:35

No.

1:27:35

But I'm just saying, like there's a lot of times, like if it was a

1:27:37

big game and it was an important game, I don't really like

1:27:39

games to be I know I'm in a minority on that.

1:27:41

Like Andy Hart used to argue with me, tooth and nail

1:27:44

love a good weather game, blah blah blah, And I'm.

1:27:46

Like, you want it to be.

1:27:46

I want the teams to better.

1:27:48

Team wins, not the team that didn't get that handled.

1:27:50

Yeah, that handled the elements better.

1:27:52

Yeah, but today, you know, with

1:27:54

nothing really on the line, Yeah, it'd be fun

1:27:56

to watch a game like this.

1:27:57

Yeah.

1:27:58

But the

1:28:00

Bill thing, And just because I disagree

1:28:02

with it doesn't mean it's any different.

1:28:04

I do agree with you.

1:28:05

I find it admirable and there are

1:28:08

a good amount of people that this guy

1:28:10

did all he did for twenty four years

1:28:12

and I'm sticking with him. I find that loyalty

1:28:14

admirable. And we've had a handful of callers

1:28:17

like that during the last few weeks

1:28:19

of the show.

1:28:19

We've had a couple today. I think there's

1:28:21

nothing wrong with that. Well, and there are some what

1:28:24

I would call normal people who just

1:28:26

you know, watch football and don't make it their life's

1:28:28

work to talk about it and argue about

1:28:30

it and things like that. Bill Burr is

1:28:32

among them, another Canton guy. Bill

1:28:34

Burr is like people are nuts. It's

1:28:37

like an inventor. Now, this is where he's wrong.

1:28:39

He says, it's an invention of like sports talk

1:28:41

radio to talk about firing Bill Now, that

1:28:43

is yeah, and I'm glad you brought

1:28:46

that up because I was talking to someone about

1:28:48

this this week. That

1:28:51

to me is different than the fans who

1:28:53

are living and dying with every play and watching

1:28:55

every game, and we're doing you know, we're

1:28:58

doing prime time postgame shows

1:29:01

that are like, you know, in the middle of the night somewhere, and

1:29:03

people are chiming into vent Those

1:29:06

people are understanding everything that's

1:29:08

going on with the football tape.

1:29:10

All due respect to Bill Burr, who I'm sure

1:29:12

as a Patriots fan is not living and

1:29:14

dying with every personnel move. Okay,

1:29:17

those guys can't understand why would

1:29:19

even be talking about this because they haven't seen the

1:29:22

like the absolute collapse of the foundation

1:29:25

that's been going on for five years. This

1:29:27

goes back to Brady's last years.

1:29:31

And that's why, like you go on the

1:29:33

talking heads on ESPN, like

1:29:36

the Ulawski's of the world, who are

1:29:39

like grinding tape and watching everything sort

1:29:42

of say there's some things

1:29:44

that are broken, whereas like the stephen

1:29:46

A. Smith are like, what are you talking about? Why

1:29:48

would you even be thinking about getting rid of

1:29:50

this guy? Because they're not paying attention.

1:29:52

Well, one of the things I think

1:29:55

you could point to and I push

1:29:57

back on this, I don't know a week or two ago,

1:29:59

wh Breer brought it up about how

1:30:01

Bill is still as an x's and

1:30:04

o's guys, is a game plan

1:30:06

guy, still among the very best. And

1:30:09

in that Callahan article, I think it was mentioned

1:30:11

how guys will say, like in a meeting,

1:30:14

he will say what a team is gonna do, and

1:30:16

then sure enough, you know, they go out

1:30:18

there and do it, But we just don't do what we're

1:30:20

supposed to do and it's amazing

1:30:22

and that. And my pushback

1:30:25

was this, It's like, I've been watching this team

1:30:27

all year, is it is it fair

1:30:29

to like maybe just raise

1:30:31

your hand and say, I don't know if he's a great

1:30:34

x's and o's game plan coach anymore,

1:30:36

just based on the actual results of the game, Like

1:30:38

no, no, no, no, no, I'm willing to concede

1:30:41

that now because enough people say it and

1:30:43

enough people believe it to where I I'm

1:30:46

with you. I think there

1:30:48

is a I'll just

1:30:50

grant you that. Yes, in terms of putting together

1:30:52

game plan based on the opponent, Fine, he's still in the best

1:30:54

in the world. How important

1:30:57

is that? Well maybe that's the better

1:30:59

argument. Then Okay, so you know what

1:31:01

the other team is gonna do? Can you coach

1:31:04

your team to not fall

1:31:06

into those.

1:31:07

Of the Calihan story, like that whole thing, like

1:31:10

at the end when the guy has the thing, you know, he

1:31:12

tells us what the other team's gonna f and do, and

1:31:14

then we go out there and we can't f and do.

1:31:16

It right, right, So that

1:31:19

is one part of you

1:31:22

know, what it means to be a head coach. It's

1:31:24

managing the players, it's coaching them in a certain

1:31:26

way. It's hiring the staff and all

1:31:28

these things. Forget about personnel, forget about

1:31:30

draft day. There are twenty

1:31:33

other things that you have to do in addition to

1:31:35

coming up with the game plan that

1:31:38

I think you could argue or not even

1:31:40

argue. It's just the fact that Bill's

1:31:43

not great at and hasn't been

1:31:45

for a couple few years. So wonderful

1:31:48

he knew exactly what was gonna

1:31:50

happen on that third and six against the Steelers.

1:31:53

Great, there's

1:31:56

more to the job.

1:31:56

Than that, right, Well, then it's acquiring players

1:31:59

that can execute well you're telling them to do and that's.

1:32:01

The players coaching the players to do it.

1:32:03

Getting the players to coaching part, to me, I

1:32:05

think does not get enough attention.

1:32:07

I think everybody is like, well,

1:32:09

they've really struggled.

1:32:10

You don't get Mike on the draft. We

1:32:13

could really derail the rest of the show. If we get Mike

1:32:15

on the draft. The draft missteps

1:32:18

that's huge, and that's the biggest reason why they're

1:32:20

where they are is the personnel has dropped.

1:32:23

But I think that you could make strong arguments

1:32:25

that Build the coach has not been

1:32:28

as good as Build the coach has been in the past. Okay,

1:32:30

like just and I'm not talking specifically

1:32:33

about game plans or excellent whatever. Just

1:32:36

you know, I'm going to go for this fourth down.

1:32:38

I'm not going to go for that fourth down. I'm gonna

1:32:41

I think that we need to run the ball here

1:32:44

in a situation. I'm not going to even try to score

1:32:46

at the end of a half. I'm not going to try to double up and

1:32:48

get you know, get an extra possession like that

1:32:50

kind of stuff. There's a lot of things

1:32:52

that go into coaching that are

1:32:55

beyond just the exits and O's which I agree

1:32:58

with most people.

1:32:59

He is the best.

1:33:01

He's the best. Is one of the things

1:33:03

that you said, Paul that I and I give you credit

1:33:05

every time. I've been using it for a week now. I thought

1:33:08

was brilliant.

1:33:10

No, it was.

1:33:11

It was such a wonderfully like

1:33:13

Paul Perillo common sense observation

1:33:16

that I've utilize as

1:33:18

this team continues to fight and they're in close

1:33:20

games and it's like the players still play for

1:33:22

him. And Paul said, well,

1:33:26

name me a team that is quit right

1:33:28

this year, last year, whatever,

1:33:31

And You're like, huh.

1:33:33

We had we had a swine in and

1:33:35

I asked him that, He's like, no, they're

1:33:38

out there, especially defensively, they compete.

1:33:40

They just turned the ball over constantly because they don't

1:33:43

have good players on offense.

1:33:44

And most players do continue to play. Are they playing

1:33:46

for the coach? Well, they might be playing for their next contract,

1:33:48

right, They might be playing just because it's in their competitive

1:33:51

nature.

1:33:52

But it is.

1:33:53

It's quite the anomaly when a team just flat

1:33:55

out quits on the coach, like

1:33:58

universally across the board, so Charger, like

1:34:01

Thursday night game, they just decided, I

1:34:03

can't play for this guy anymore, and we're gonna

1:34:05

figure out a way to get rid of him. We're gonna get sixty

1:34:07

three tonight.

1:34:08

But after that, after that, they just played

1:34:10

regular games again, just like they have been all along.

1:34:12

But it was like a game. And and

1:34:15

and to say that, you

1:34:17

know, they're still playing for Bill, I

1:34:19

think he gets it's it's a it's

1:34:21

a bit of a it's

1:34:24

kind of a hollow accopabe.

1:34:26

I think like the Thursday night game

1:34:28

and I've had I was actually in a in a pissing

1:34:31

match before this. This show

1:34:33

started today with one of my buddies who was

1:34:35

telling me how badly the Jets are gonna roll over, say,

1:34:38

and they might the Jets, I don't know, maybe

1:34:40

they will, maybe they maybe they're

1:34:42

determined to lose today.

1:34:44

The Jets. They certainly.

1:34:46

I mean, I think the Patriots are gonna win this game because

1:34:48

I think I'm sorry, we're not at the end of the show yet, but

1:34:50

I think they have you know, the whole.

1:34:52

Bill thing, the Slater thing, the snow

1:34:54

like.

1:34:54

I just think everything is favoring the Patriots, and

1:34:57

I think they're gonna want to go out that

1:34:59

way. I just I pushed back on

1:35:01

the whole the other teams are

1:35:04

quitting and the Patriots aren't. Because

1:35:06

like that Thursday night game that the last game that

1:35:08

Jets played was in Cleveland, and

1:35:10

what happened. They came out, they turned the ball over a million

1:35:13

times, they fell behind by a million points. They

1:35:15

ended up coming back a little

1:35:17

bit. Now, they never got back into

1:35:19

the game like where they could win it or or get

1:35:22

really competitive, but the effort was still

1:35:24

there. Yeah, And that's

1:35:26

like an example of they tanked it.

1:35:28

They packed it in. The Patriots

1:35:31

turned the ball over four times in the first eighteen

1:35:33

minutes of the game. That wasn't because they weren't

1:35:35

trying. That was just because they're not very good.

1:35:38

Like, how do we determine these things?

1:35:40

Now?

1:35:40

I don't think the Patriots were tanking. I don't think the Patriots

1:35:43

packed it in against Buffalo. I think they

1:35:45

they're just not very good. That's why they turned

1:35:47

it over four times. I don't think it's because

1:35:49

they weren't. Do you guys think it was because it was a lack of effort?

1:35:51

No?

1:35:52

No, But I don't know how we determined the

1:35:54

Jets turnovers thirty

1:35:56

two of them, by the way, were because of the lack of

1:35:58

effort. The Patriots turnover which is

1:36:00

like twenty seven, not a lack

1:36:02

of effort, just not very good. Like why,

1:36:05

yeah, what's the difference because you're

1:36:07

a fan of one and not the other exactly?

1:36:09

I kind of feel like Trent Brown maybe I don't think he's playing

1:36:11

hard for this?

1:36:11

You think you think maybe Trent Brown? And like when

1:36:14

when Washington, why do you say that? Like

1:36:16

when Washington has players that

1:36:18

decide they're not playing right? What's

1:36:21

the difference between that and like Hunter Henry going

1:36:23

on ir and in week eighteen, Like,

1:36:28

and I don't think Hunter Henry's ducking it I think if

1:36:30

you could play today, he'd be out there.

1:36:32

But like Pepper's out there, but.

1:36:34

There he is right on the screen. He could easily have taken

1:36:37

today off. Like I don't think these guys. I

1:36:39

don't think guys just quit anywhere

1:36:42

near us often as most fans think that they

1:36:44

do. I think these guys are out there.

1:36:46

Geez. I don't know if this is gonna be Slater's last game

1:36:49

or not. He's just the ref.

1:36:53

He's making out with the ref, and it's just that

1:36:55

guy. David Andrews is also in that graphic

1:36:57

today with the with along

1:37:00

Slater.

1:37:00

I wonder if this is his last game.

1:37:02

If it is, he's going to be totally lost in the wash of

1:37:04

Slater and maybe Bill.

1:37:05

And which is and it was also Matthew, Yeah,

1:37:07

all right, go ahead. Oh and

1:37:10

by the way, one final thing on this whole competitiveness,

1:37:12

I'm still playing hard in all the one score games. That

1:37:14

was another thing you brought up last week.

1:37:16

Pull.

1:37:16

It's like most of these games are one score games,

1:37:18

and a lot of these teams, as we saw

1:37:20

the Patriots do for years, don't

1:37:24

try and run up the score because you don't have to,

1:37:27

and the games can become a one or two score

1:37:29

game just because the opponent

1:37:32

stops trying on offense because

1:37:34

they don't need to score more.

1:37:36

But I think I looked it up at one point,

1:37:38

and I think seven out of the eight

1:37:41

one score losses by the Patriots, the Patriots

1:37:43

scored last in.

1:37:44

Yeah, yeah, something.

1:37:45

I I have to go back and look at it and make sure.

1:37:47

But so I want to run this by marine, Matt. But here's

1:37:49

what I would like to do.

1:37:50

Said James.

1:37:51

Wait right there, wow, sweet

1:37:53

feet, pan up. We're

1:37:55

going to talk to Kevin and Kendall and then we're going to do the

1:37:57

over unders. You like that, Matt, let's do it.

1:38:00

We'll start with Kendall in North Carolina. Kendall, what do

1:38:02

you got for us?

1:38:07

Thank you?

1:38:07

Thank you?

1:38:08

Got a quick question if Bill does

1:38:11

come back, how to Row

1:38:13

present it in a letter to the fans? Like

1:38:15

what how do you think that would come out? And

1:38:18

then number two, the second part it is do

1:38:20

you think the longer that it goes on without

1:38:22

a decision or whatever, you think that that

1:38:25

probably looks to do it for benefit?

1:38:28

Maybe?

1:38:28

I mean I would, I would. I mean they

1:38:30

moved quick on that letter last year. But I think they they

1:38:33

painted themselves into a little bit of the corner. It's hard to

1:38:35

think about if they retain Bill, what the

1:38:37

talking points are of why outside

1:38:40

of we're going to completely remake the office

1:38:42

one offensive side of the ball again that I mean,

1:38:44

that's the best that can kind of come up with.

1:38:47

Yeah, I don't I don't know what that. I don't know how that

1:38:50

whether we're that letter would read, I

1:38:52

don't know how it would be delivered. I

1:38:55

would not be surprised if there were no letter

1:38:57

this year, because the letter was was

1:38:59

under such scrutiny last year that

1:39:01

maybe they just go without a letter this year. At John

1:39:04

Deere letter, John Deere, you

1:39:07

mean, dear John, it's a dumble

1:39:09

dummer Joe. Okay, Oh, you know,

1:39:11

I've never seen that movie in its entirety.

1:39:13

Well, we found one, Hardy. It took

1:39:15

to the lesshon We found a movie seen.

1:39:17

I've not seen dumb and dunner. I've

1:39:19

seen probably a studio on this land.

1:39:21

Okayry nowhere she sends me a John

1:39:23

Dee letter.

1:39:24

It's uh, it's nasty out

1:39:26

there, man, this is gonna

1:39:28

be fun.

1:39:29

I'm looking forward to I'm able to see anything from

1:39:31

the press.

1:39:31

Box well, I never can't anyway, you guys have

1:39:33

to tell me what happened. Yeah, not

1:39:35

from that press box. He came so much. All

1:39:38

right, Kevin and San Francisco before we do the over

1:39:40

unders, what do you got.

1:39:42

Hey, guys?

1:39:42

Real quick. One of the other callers it called

1:39:44

up and said his three wishes for twenty

1:39:47

twenty four. I'll give you my three

1:39:49

quick and then I'll hang up. Number one party

1:39:51

has to come back for next year. Top priority.

1:39:54

Number two.

1:39:55

I hope not only the pages lose today. I hope they

1:39:57

get embarrassed. Oh and number three, I

1:39:59

hope they hand Bill a cardboard box before

1:40:01

he gets to Oh that.

1:40:03

Really took a turn. Wow wow,

1:40:06

all right, thanks Kevin.

1:40:06

You know what kind of resonated with me was just the from

1:40:08

the rapaport thing of talking about Pat

1:40:11

Bowlan back with the Broncos. Sand I just I

1:40:13

want my team back, And that kind of resonated

1:40:16

with me of just you know, everything that goes

1:40:18

with this organization.

1:40:19

Here.

1:40:20

I can see the Crafts just saying we want our team back.

1:40:23

WHOA, that was kind of profound, duce, Thank

1:40:26

you. I felt it less familiar with the

1:40:28

Pat Bowlan quote.

1:40:29

You have to talk to me, Well he was. I think he was saying

1:40:31

when he when it came time to move on from Mike

1:40:33

Shanahan, and you know, had

1:40:35

had a coach there for a while who's kind of become the personality

1:40:38

of the team, and you know, the owner

1:40:40

gets ready to to take their team back.

1:40:41

We even had a false start in warmups. Oh jeez,

1:40:46

is there somebody here within the organization

1:40:49

that is known as the angel of death,

1:40:52

the person that does walk around with you with

1:40:54

with the with the red folder and the cardboard

1:40:57

box. Is there like one person

1:40:59

if you see them walking through the cubicles, You're

1:41:01

like, oh, no, no, okay, but I know what

1:41:03

you're talking about.

1:41:04

Okay, Well we got Tom Brady

1:41:06

Wayne in On. I g for Slater to love

1:41:08

you. Slate so proud of you. So

1:41:11

yeah, he's watching.

1:41:12

It's kind of kind of condescending. So

1:41:14

proud of you. You're

1:41:16

being serious. But I thought the same thing. No,

1:41:19

I just what are You're proud of me? Player?

1:41:22

Just like you he made? Yeah, why you proud of

1:41:24

me? I'm really proud of you.

1:41:25

Proud of you Hardy for that new job. I'm proud of you. You

1:41:28

did it.

1:41:29

Milliken said that he was proud of me once I said shut

1:41:31

up.

1:41:32

Wow wow,

1:41:35

both on both ends a little aggressive

1:41:37

on you apart, but I can't believe he would

1:41:39

say it.

1:41:40

Do you do you think Bill's gonna wear

1:41:42

the Slater sweatshirt or I think this is

1:41:44

I'm kind of interested with gonna wear.

1:41:47

For once you're interested quote,

1:41:50

I'm kind of interested in what Bill's wearing

1:41:53

today.

1:41:53

What if he comes out in like a hoodie from the ninety

1:41:56

you know, like the original hoodie like that. I

1:41:58

don't know, I'll read I'll read way too much

1:42:00

into it.

1:42:00

I know it's about the clock more than anything. But can

1:42:02

we do the over unders so I feel like this show will

1:42:04

come to it? Yeah? Okay, Yeah, it's

1:42:07

time for.

1:42:07

This week's edition of over Unders.

1:42:10

You're over me?

1:42:10

When will you under me?

1:42:12

Matt? What happened last week? And where

1:42:14

are we on the season? One more game?

1:42:17

Paul and Hardy three and three, Mike two

1:42:19

and four. Season totals Mike forty

1:42:21

eight and four. Hold on, let me do this right here, Paul

1:42:23

fifty one and forty five, Mike forty

1:42:26

eight, forty eight, Hardy forty seven and forty

1:42:28

nine.

1:42:29

Right down to the I mean you hardy.

1:42:32

Yeah, I mean we're it's a battle for a second.

1:42:34

There's no way Paul gives it up here in the one

1:42:37

game with a with a three game lead here,

1:42:39

but this battle for second place, I'm fine

1:42:41

with that challenge.

1:42:42

Accepted total first half

1:42:44

points for the Patriots seven and a half.

1:42:46

Wow, that's a good number.

1:42:48

That's a good number. And I'm gonna go under

1:42:50

because it looks like it's snowing a lot.

1:42:53

Thank you.

1:42:54

I'm taking the over, Paul.

1:42:56

Positive, Paul, I think there'll be some defensive

1:42:59

points on the boy.

1:43:00

Go okay? Well, uh, I

1:43:02

do believe this is a battle for second, So

1:43:05

I will go opposite Deuce's

1:43:07

pick. Go with Paul. I will

1:43:09

take the over.

1:43:10

To total first half points

1:43:13

for the Jets six and a half.

1:43:17

I'll take the under on that.

1:43:22

Even DraftKings gave up on this game.

1:43:23

I'm okay,

1:43:26

hold on a second, let's do it. Now, let's do it. It's like,

1:43:29

whatever you take, I'll take the opposite.

1:43:30

What have you got, Yeah, I'm

1:43:34

going under.

1:43:37

Give me that over baby.

1:43:39

Two total touchdowns

1:43:41

two and a half.

1:43:44

I will go over on two and a half touchdowns.

1:43:47

I'm gonna go over as well. That was not your

1:43:49

turn is sorry, I'm.

1:43:50

Sorry, I'm under.

1:43:54

What is he doing over there?

1:43:55

He's not taking this way seriously, I'm going

1:43:57

for just making a mockery of it.

1:43:58

Yeah, he is going.

1:43:59

I'm I mean, I did it. It's one it's one thing to do it like

1:44:02

once.

1:44:02

No, it's wicked snowy guy. So you

1:44:04

don't know what's gonna happen.

1:44:05

You guys are both under on this. No, I'm over

1:44:08

Okay, over me? I think you were?

1:44:11

You under me?

1:44:13

Third quarter? Points total six and a half.

1:44:16

That's just points in the third quarter, correct, I

1:44:19

think Oh, I think the snow is gonna be miserable

1:44:21

by that point. I'm gonna go under cold

1:44:24

Chili.

1:44:25

I'll take the under on that one too. By

1:44:27

that time, the teams will have settled into, say,

1:44:29

let's just get out of here, right run the ball

1:44:32

really starts to get cold out there, they'll ask uh,

1:44:35

They'll ask Ben Dreyth to just keep the clock running.

1:44:37

Who over?

1:44:42

Hardy returns his host half next

1:44:44

year?

1:44:44

Yep, Oh geez, how how are we how are we ever to know

1:44:46

this?

1:44:47

If he's back?

1:44:48

So you mean how many times he turns

1:44:51

as the host?

1:44:51

No, it's Hardy coming back as the host.

1:44:53

Next.

1:44:53

Yes, let's take bets on it is a yes no

1:44:56

answer? Correct?

1:44:56

I just put as a hat.

1:44:57

Okay, So I'm gonna say no, No, I'll

1:45:00

look at mister Kraft with his his

1:45:02

slavery Yu. I understand how we

1:45:04

determine this after the game? No, we

1:45:06

can't.

1:45:07

It won't be determined until you return.

1:45:08

So maybe if there's a tiebreaker, we'll have to wait till.

1:45:10

So you're saying this chance, Well, yeah,

1:45:13

I'll come back for a game. I'll go over, would you guys

1:45:16

do I'm gonna say

1:45:18

no, so under

1:45:20

Paul I said no, okay.

1:45:23

Total score thirty and a half.

1:45:26

Yeah, I'm gonna go over on this.

1:45:31

That's an under for me.

1:45:32

Please, that's

1:45:35

an under for me too, all right, but very

1:45:37

slightly. Yeah. Yeah, it could be

1:45:39

interesting. We could have interesting and

1:45:41

interesting interesting, or and interesting or

1:45:44

very good emails.

1:45:46

Here we have Lindon previously

1:45:49

of Colton, California's been a while since I've written,

1:45:51

been a loyal listener for fifteen years. Today

1:45:55

will be my boys, Ethan and

1:45:58

Micah's first football game. We're

1:46:00

here to celebrate Mike's eighth birthday.

1:46:02

Despite the crummy weather, the boys are super pumped

1:46:05

to be here. We're hoping Slater and Bill Belichick getting

1:46:07

appropriate send off and blow out the Jets. Uh,

1:46:10

there's no chance they do any kind of video

1:46:12

anything for Bill today.

1:46:14

But do you expect one for Slater? I

1:46:17

don't know.

1:46:17

That's a good question. I really have no idea,

1:46:20

but maybe maybe Yeah.

1:46:22

I sort of do, yeah, And I do not have

1:46:24

the information on it. No, I don't. I

1:46:26

would tell you you guys should ask things when you're here

1:46:28

during the week and find things out about

1:46:30

the team and the game and the game. Ops. That's

1:46:34

a look you're giving me. Now, Now you're giving me.

1:46:36

A look sounds like work.

1:46:37

Nope, Nope, I'm

1:46:40

lookless. Uh, Steven

1:46:42

Conway, I had another wonder

1:46:45

about the possibility of coach Belichick

1:46:47

moving on and what it will look like. Do

1:46:49

you think his Sun's fate will figure in at

1:46:51

all? For example, or someone speculating

1:46:54

that you Rod gets elevated a head coach Bill

1:46:56

O'Brien stays zoc. Does Bill

1:46:58

then say, I'll this easier on the organization

1:47:01

if Steve gets the DC job.

1:47:05

No, I'd expect if Bill went

1:47:07

somewhere that he would probably take Steve with him.

1:47:09

A pot. At some point Steve is going to have to go

1:47:11

work somewhere without Bill if

1:47:14

he.

1:47:14

Wants to, And I do think that that

1:47:17

might be better for him if Bill were

1:47:19

to say, yeah,

1:47:22

like Steve, you.

1:47:23

Can get a job somewhere. Go somewhere and

1:47:25

find a job, but spread your wings.

1:47:28

I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility

1:47:30

that the emailers, you

1:47:33

know, sure scenario unfolds, you know, And I

1:47:35

think Mayo and Steve Belichick get along pretty

1:47:37

well, so I don't think it would

1:47:39

be the dumbest thing to have them stay together.

1:47:43

Mark in Somerset, New Jersey still want

1:47:45

to see Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator

1:47:48

with the restructured staff around him. A

1:47:50

long shot, but I will accept new head

1:47:53

coach and regime as well. Yeah,

1:47:55

I'm sure Bill O'Brien would like to have some say

1:47:57

in who his coaches are next season too.

1:47:59

That would be fun.

1:48:00

Wow, we're

1:48:02

getting custom hoodies for Hardy's last show

1:48:04

too. That's from Jackson.

1:48:05

That would have been good.

1:48:06

I love a hoodie.

1:48:07

I do love a I think Fred's on it.

1:48:10

You've been reading the emails, I mean the texts.

1:48:12

I did I did.

1:48:16

You guys having private conversations.

1:48:17

Boss man Fred kersh. He

1:48:21

says, I'm wearing a hoodie that says

1:48:23

Hardy, husband father, host

1:48:26

talks about music and everybody

1:48:29

loves it, don't. All right, So

1:48:34

thank you for good Fred, Thank you for that. All

1:48:37

right? Wait before we get to the six pack, A couple more

1:48:40

emails here, Hardy, Deuce, Tamaron, Paul, thank you

1:48:42

for all you've been doing this

1:48:44

season. Hardy, I love the sass.

1:48:47

Please come back and now, Deuce, what are you thinking

1:48:49

by saying maybe I can see the second

1:48:51

round pick for defense? Goodness, No, we

1:48:53

need so much on offense, offensive

1:48:56

tackle, quarterback, guard, receiver, running

1:48:58

back, tight end. It is a shorter

1:49:00

list of layout there. We don't what we don't

1:49:03

need. Please don't talk like that.

1:49:05

I'm sorry, now, you're right.

1:49:06

That's right, Gretchen, you're right.

1:49:07

I misspoke a little bit, but I you know, generally, I just

1:49:09

say those first two days got to go

1:49:12

to offense, and the only possible exception,

1:49:14

you know, in the third round. Maybe I agree with you on

1:49:16

the second round, but that's the only thing I

1:49:18

could possibly see being a defensive need is

1:49:20

if you've got a real stud pass.

1:49:21

Rusher, ideally you're you're using

1:49:24

all all the picks on offense.

1:49:25

But Mike is right.

1:49:26

You have to have an open mind when you when the picks

1:49:29

come around. You can't just say nope, this

1:49:31

guy is you know, rated to be thirty

1:49:34

picks higher than that guy. But that guy plays defense.

1:49:37

I can't take him.

1:49:37

You know, Barmore I mean again, and

1:49:40

I mean you can point to all the misses that

1:49:42

they had, you know, over the last

1:49:44

couple of years, but I mean Barmore was one where, you

1:49:46

know, not totally on everybody's radar, but a

1:49:49

really good player who fell through the cracks that they went

1:49:51

up and got like you know, it's paying off for him now,

1:49:54

Jake.

1:49:54

And Australia needs some duncan This

1:49:56

four am wake up is rough?

1:49:58

Woof? I know, and

1:50:00

it's summer there too, must be weird seeing the snow.

1:50:06

He's a funny guy, Matt

1:50:09

in Oregon. The rebuild

1:50:11

does not start until Bill leaves. He

1:50:14

may be the goat, but his time has passed. Hardy,

1:50:16

We're gonna miss you. Come on, can we get one more

1:50:19

crusty laugh? I can't the

1:50:21

ribs preventing that. I don't

1:50:23

know, I haven't tried it. Oh I haven't done it. We

1:50:26

can save that for hour three of the postgame

1:50:28

show. So sorry,

1:50:34

kids, time to do the Sunday

1:50:37

six back.

1:50:38

This is the Sunday six back, So kick back

1:50:41

and listen my position. I'm getting to getting

1:50:43

the pits back.

1:50:44

You better bring a big stack, get a mixed jack.

1:50:46

I can't win again.

1:50:47

This is the Sunday sixth bad. I'm

1:50:50

glad to see my numbers matched up

1:50:52

with Matt's numbers and everything is right.

1:50:54

I actually went through which I normally

1:50:57

don't, and checked the games

1:50:59

last week, and uh, well, Matt tell

1:51:01

us what happened.

1:51:02

Oh, it's a good thing. Paully checked my stuff before you got

1:51:05

here. Everybody went four and two.

1:51:07

He had you and I going two and four? Did

1:51:09

he really he did? How can you not do this?

1:51:12

I don't know.

1:51:13

I don't know what is it? What I get

1:51:15

the numbers confused?

1:51:17

Numbers are hard.

1:51:17

They're very hard for me.

1:51:19

The only way he ever gets them all writer is when we all picked

1:51:21

the same the same way.

1:51:23

And then he has us all wrong. I

1:51:26

try my best, all right.

1:51:28

Everybody went four and to last week, bringing the season

1:51:31

totals to Mike forty nine. Thirty

1:51:33

six and five, Hardy forty seven, thirty

1:51:35

eight and five, Paul forty forty

1:51:37

five and five.

1:51:38

All right, so this is not a battle for a

1:51:41

second. This is I'm taking. I'm taking, I'm

1:51:43

taking an at it. I'm going to play the role of spoiler.

1:51:45

I'm taking a run at it, and I have a

1:51:48

system. I'm not betting against

1:51:50

you necessarily. Mike out a system

1:51:53

for Week eighteen games in the NFL.

1:51:56

So you go first, meat us off, Matt. What is

1:51:58

the first game we're picking today?

1:52:00

One pm?

1:52:00

The seven and nine Minnesota Vikings at the eleven

1:52:02

and five Detroit Lions Detroit minus three

1:52:04

and a half.

1:52:05

I am going to take Cardies Lions

1:52:07

minus three and a half. Please.

1:52:09

I hate doing it, but love

1:52:11

the underdog in certain

1:52:14

games and matchups, So I will take

1:52:16

the Vikings today. Yeah.

1:52:18

I'm taking the Vikings too, just because I don't

1:52:21

know if Detroit is really going to play hard.

1:52:24

I know they say they are, but I'm I

1:52:26

don't know. I think they got to arrest some dudes.

1:52:28

The seven and nine Atlanta Falcons at the eight and eight

1:52:30

New Orleans Saints New Orleans minus three.

1:52:33

Now can we go back?

1:52:35

Like should I go first and go back to the normal

1:52:37

order.

1:52:38

Yeah, okay, yeah, that's okay, that's all right.

1:52:40

Oh thank you, Mike Win. Did

1:52:43

I go second that time? Yeah? And I thought you guys would

1:52:45

do it?

1:52:47

Sorry, no, no, no, screw it

1:52:49

up. You didn't.

1:52:50

You didn't. I just thought you guys were doing that for

1:52:52

your little monol.

1:52:53

No.

1:52:53

No, if we had, if we had

1:52:56

the little like symbols at the bottom,

1:52:58

I would be x eliminated and playing.

1:53:00

I can go six and oh and you guys would go and six

1:53:02

and I'd still.

1:53:03

You're still playing hard for yourself, that's all.

1:53:05

But I'm playing. I'm playing the string out. I'll

1:53:07

take the Saints New Orleans.

1:53:09

I am taking the uh Atlanta

1:53:13

Falcons getting three points in New Orleans?

1:53:17

Oh yeah, would

1:53:19

you?

1:53:20

I can't play on this one. I'm gonna I'm gonna take the Falcons

1:53:22

too.

1:53:23

You both took the Falcons. Yeah, that's right.

1:53:27

You wonder why I can't do this right?

1:53:31

Well, if you write down the answers, you

1:53:33

know that has never anything to do with why you can't

1:53:35

do it right now?

1:53:37

Four PM games the nine to seven Los Angeles

1:53:40

Rams at the twelve and four San Francisco forty nine

1:53:42

Ers, San Francisco minus four.

1:53:44

I am up first. Huh correct, I

1:53:50

will take the Robs on the road.

1:53:53

I will take the four points.

1:53:56

I will go with the forty nine ers on this one.

1:53:58

Nice Nice is right.

1:54:00

Forty nine Ers eleven and five

1:54:03

Philadelphia Eagles at the five and eleven New York

1:54:05

Giants Philly minus five.

1:54:06

Oh boy, I'm back up. I'm

1:54:10

gonna take Philly minus five.

1:54:14

I am gonna take the Giants to cover. I just

1:54:16

don't like what I've seen from Philadelphia and

1:54:20

I can't lay five points with them. I think they'll

1:54:22

win, but I'll take the Giants. I

1:54:24

to him taking the Giants. There's a pattern

1:54:27

developing. If you've been following along at home

1:54:29

with my picks today. So Paul

1:54:31

and I around the Giants.

1:54:32

So when you went first, did you have to sort

1:54:34

of try to guess which way he was gonna

1:54:36

go. No, I have a he's

1:54:39

got a system. I have a sis. But it's

1:54:41

a very good system. It's like a garlic it's

1:54:43

a very good system.

1:54:45

Like liquefies in the Pan Sunday

1:54:47

Night Football, the ten and six Buffalo Bills at the eleven

1:54:50

and five Miami Dolphins Buffalo minus

1:54:52

three.

1:54:53

Paul, that's you.

1:54:54

Yeah, I will take the Bills, but I don't feel great

1:54:56

about it. I just feel like Miami's more banged

1:54:59

out. Buffalo's not playing well. It didn't play

1:55:01

well the last to the last two games. But Miami's

1:55:04

missing a lot or key personnel.

1:55:06

They are, and I think it's I

1:55:09

hate doing this, I really hate doing this,

1:55:12

but I gotta stick to my system. I hate this

1:55:14

as much as I did picking the Vikings. I'm

1:55:16

taking the Dolphins.

1:55:18

Yeah, I'm on the Bills with Paul. I gotta stick

1:55:20

with what I've been saying all week.

1:55:22

The six and ten New York Jets at the four and twelve

1:55:24

New England Patriots New England minus one and a half.

1:55:29

This is a real outlier for these games today.

1:55:31

Ah yeah,

1:55:36

I think the Patriots are gonna just

1:55:38

do a little bit to undo themselves a little

1:55:40

bit. I think Bill is obviously coaching with a

1:55:44

lot to coach for today. They're playing hard,

1:55:46

and they're playing hard for him. Good point, Paul,

1:55:49

you know you don't see that anywhere else.

1:55:52

I will take the Patriots plus one and a half.

1:55:55

Yeah, I'm on the Patriots too.

1:55:56

Oh, and they're gonna and they're going to win eleven

1:55:59

to eight, just and

1:56:02

the you know for the

1:56:05

actual pick, which means, yeah, they are minus

1:56:07

one and a half mine plus one and night I say, yeah,

1:56:10

I'll lay the one and a half. They're winning by three. Yeah,

1:56:12

I'm in the eight is the final.

1:56:13

I'm gonna take the Patriots too, Just hard

1:56:15

to see them losing, even if it's just Slater that

1:56:18

it's his last game. I got the Patriots

1:56:21

seventeen to fourteen.

1:56:24

Yeah, I uh, I will make it unanimous.

1:56:26

I feel like there will be a slew of

1:56:28

Jets turnovers in this game, which obviously

1:56:31

means they quit.

1:56:32

So I'm gonna say twenty.

1:56:35

To nine, a lot of field goals

1:56:37

no one, although

1:56:39

with all the snow, the field goals might be difficult,

1:56:41

but twenty to nine.

1:56:43

Actually I had the I had the over and all

1:56:45

that I get a root for more points and yeah, I want

1:56:47

to I'll keep it eleven and eight to

1:56:50

eight. What is

1:56:52

your score for twenty to nine?

1:56:54

Knowine, knowin knowine, knowing

1:56:56

knowinnin the

1:56:59

profession in life is like an annoying yes,

1:57:03

personal life. What

1:57:05

did Papa Booy say is six?

1:57:08

Yeah? All

1:57:11

right?

1:57:11

Final thoughts leading into today's contest.

1:57:13

Gentlemen, Oh boy, you guys

1:57:16

don't have to walk on the concourse at all, do you?

1:57:18

No, you never go out? Oh

1:57:20

well, just ish to on the way to the elevator.

1:57:22

With that said, it's it's slick out

1:57:24

there. I want everyone to be careful, that's number

1:57:27

one.

1:57:27

I just want to take it all in and uh, you know,

1:57:29

hope for a good last game, hopefully nice enough for Matthew

1:57:31

Slater. I guess right. I don't

1:57:33

know.

1:57:36

What would cons to do.

1:57:37

A A.

1:57:39

He recovers a muff punt

1:57:41

return in the end zone and the crowd just

1:57:43

goes crazy like that, like a big play

1:57:45

for Matthew Slatter, Just a nice send off for him.

1:57:47

Drop kick.

1:57:50

Draft, something like that.

1:57:51

Wouldn't that be something historic?

1:57:53

I saw jack Jackie's here, Jackie Slater, So yeah,

1:57:56

read between the lines.

1:57:58

Just apropos of nothing. I spoke with someone

1:58:00

earlier, I

1:58:03

won't say when or where, but someone who

1:58:05

had some interesting knowledge on the Jack

1:58:07

Jones front.

1:58:10

He's saving this for the last minute of the show.

1:58:12

This last two minutes ever, well pregame

1:58:15

show magic. I don't

1:58:17

know if this is common knowledge or not, but during

1:58:20

the actual like figuring

1:58:23

out of what was going to happen to him legally

1:58:26

after the guns at the airport, I said,

1:58:29

come on, you know he knew

1:58:32

what he was doing though, and he said, absolutely

1:58:35

not. Apparently the surveillance

1:58:37

footage, you know, they look at all this stuff.

1:58:39

It's like, how do he come to the airport? It's like, yeah,

1:58:43

everything and I'm going on a trip right

1:58:46

right? And like, didn't they

1:58:49

universally across the board believe he had no

1:58:51

idea those guns were in there and broke

1:58:56

down when they found them in the bag.

1:58:59

Like it was them messed up now?

1:59:01

Yep, seriously, Like just

1:59:03

he said, it's never been more obvious to him

1:59:06

about one of these cases, and also for

1:59:08

everyone who was in an uproar about it, because it

1:59:11

happens all the times.

1:59:13

I don't like to talk all.

1:59:16

I believe that what I don't

1:59:18

know and haven't really had anybody

1:59:21

tell me, is do they

1:59:23

always just get off with nothing?

1:59:26

Oh?

1:59:27

Yes, a lot of the time. Some people

1:59:29

who haven't, Well, do

1:59:32

you hire an attorney at all?

1:59:34

Do you do?

1:59:35

You just take what's given to you? But I think

1:59:37

you, if you know, for the people who do

1:59:40

you know, present some kind of a defense

1:59:43

it is not uncommon to get off with you know,

1:59:45

approbation, or he said, because it happens

1:59:48

all the time. And on

1:59:50

that note, I

1:59:58

know how long you been doing it? Long you've been

2:00:00

doing it? Yeah, that's my fifth six

2:00:03

six because you did it with Andy one year, right, yeah.

2:00:06

So.

2:00:08

Six years is that right?

2:00:10

Your life? Never get that?

2:00:12

So eighteen super Bowl a year, so

2:00:14

you have that in common with all

2:00:16

the rest of us. Yeah, oh sorry,

2:00:20

all right, except for my final score for the

2:00:22

final time. Oh no, that's the game

2:00:25

show. That's not that's not until that's not until

2:00:27

about eight tonight. The

2:00:30

joke that keeps on getting We'll talk to you in the

2:00:32

pollst game. Thank you. Thank you for downloading
