In this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Mary Storey, pet support counselor, and Maggie Gipson, humane education coordinator of the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County.
Mary and Maggie explain how the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County supports the animal welfare and community of pet owners and rescue adopters by providing counseling and resources such as the pet food pantry and their clinic. The organization currently conducts spay and neuter services at an affordable cost so that pet owners won’t have to spend much at veterinary clinics.
Counseling is also a unique service that the organization provides, especially for pet owners who need advice in dealing with pets who are still adjusting to their new homes or pets with behavioral issues. Currently the organization is getting back on its feet after the issues they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and ensures that animals and pet owners in their county receive the care and services they need.
“The best part is connecting the best pet with the best people.” - Mary Storey
“We need to make people aware so that if they do need help, they won’t feel so alone.” - Maggie Gipson
