New years resolutions.

Did you set any? It’s day six of the new year…how’s that working out for you?

Now before you call me out for being a pessimist…hear me out.

I’m rooting for you. I’m really rooting for you…

Of course, I want you to…

  • “Gift" the extra holiday pounds to the universe…
  • Write that best-selling book…
  • Finally go on that bucket list trip…
  • Break into the six (or seven) figure club…

Heck, some of you have said to me that this is the year that you finally want to ditch the “9 to 5” grind for the freedom of entrepreneurship.

Great…I love you for it!

Unfortunately, the grim reality is that those who make "new year's resolutions" will never achieve success because…

They…

-Avoid planning-Wait for the “perfect/better time”-Don’t have the right support team

How do I know? Well, I’ve lived it and learned some pretty valuable lessons.

To get this new year off on the right foot, I thought I would dish up, “Three Ways to Ensure Success in 2017”.

I did a "Live stream" on Facebook, I tell the story of how I did an “ugly cry”, back in the beginning of 2016.

Of course, I also share some addition juicy tidbits of how you can spare a few tears… (Of course, there will always be tears and emotion along your journey…that’s healthy, babe. But, if I can spare you some unnecessary ones, I’m happy to help!)

If you can't view the video, check out the tips I shared, below:

1. Be committed to “planning” not just a “plan”

Even the best thought-out plans can fall apart. Then, we can quickly loose sight of our focus. To minimize this risk, commit to the planning process, not the plan. This will give you the freedom and flexibility to readjust your metrics, throughout the weeks, months, and year.

Bonus: Consider mapping out thirty, sixty, ninety day blocks of time, rather than a year, three year, or five year plan.

2. Stop being so damn perfect

This perfectionism concept robs us of the energy and time to make our dreams become a reality. Perfectionists miss many opportunities because the “timing” may never be…well, perfect.

For instance, a business owner wanted to wait for the “right time” for me to coach him, his business partner, and sales team. A year later, when they FINALLY had to work with a professional development company, his biggest regret was that he lost too much time and it almost cost him his company.

Bonus: Write down the best thing/worst thing that could happen if you acted on something you’ve been putting off, because you are waiting for it to be “perfect”.

3. Know who’s got your back…a stay the heck away from those who don’t

Having the right accountability partners (mentors, coaches, trusted advisors) can hold your feet to the fire if, you are procrastinating or stuck on what to do next.

I love the concept of mastermind groups because you can brainstorm with other “powerful minds” to collaborate and connect. This also improves your communication skills and confidence.

On the other hand, if you have negative nellies in your world, what can you do this year to spend less time with them? I know this can be especially hard to deal with when you have negative friend or family members.  (Caveat...cutting ties with a negative family member is a process. I do not recommend that anyone do this, without professionally trained support).

Bonus: Where do you need to add more support and where do you want to trim the stuff that ain’t serving you? Make a list.

I want to hear from you…what was your biggest take away from today’s blog. Share you comments below and I would love to have you share this with someone who could benefit from the information.

Again, thank you for taking the necessary steps to creating the business and life you desire!

Time to Rock!

Take Care,Erica
