A pod for everyone. From hard core science nerds, to people who just like learning interesting facts about the wonderful plants we interact with, this pod has something for you. I jumped in around the caffeine episode and have since listened to most of the back catalogue. Vikram drops science on you, but then makes it relatable even to the guy who almost failed freshman bio (me). There are also a variety of guests who bring their own expertise to the pod and make it a pleasure to listen to.
Huge believer in the protection of trees and planting more trees than creating more buildings. This is a great podcast, everyone should listen!
History, gardening, and science have a very important thing in common when it comes to me: I love them all, so long as someone else does the work. Fortunately, this podcast delivers on that front. Vikram has an easygoing and friendly personality that instantly relaxed me and pulled me in.
It's so much fun to listen to Vikram and his different stories, and I actually learn something new each time. Worth a listen!
We are plant people and we loved listening and then discussing the show. Love the style of the show and how they look at horticulture through the lens of anthropology. Keep up the great work!
Planthropology has inspired an interest in the plant kingdom for me! Vikram is a great host and this show is fascinating. I always mistakenly assumed plants were boring and have enjoyed being thoroughly proven wrong by this very cool podcast ?
I'm loving it! The perfect amounts and blend of witty, nerdy, funny, and intelligent. Laid-back, yet educational. Terrific!
Literally my favorite podcast! Something unique every time!
Great podcast! Lots of interesting guests and topics, really enjoy listening
My only goto podcast for plant knowledge! Vikram is a blast to listen to, great information. Also follow on Instagram or TikTok for pointers, more plant knowledge and general fun!
Excellent podcast, with an interesting host. Vikram puts his guests at ease and discusses many aspects of this environmental science. Very recommended, even if you are not familiar with specific terminology. The host makes it a fun listen!
I love the idea of this podcast, but the format is a hot mess. These topics are so interesting and they deserve a deep dive, but in the episodes I listened to, it sounded like two over-caffeinated people skipping across topics at random. Each thing they touch could be an interesting conversation on its own, but just bringing up one idea in a sentence as you rush along to another idea is the maximally frustrating format for me.ETA: I'm going to remove my rating and check out some of the later episodes to see how this podcast changed over time.
PlanthropologyHi Sarah! Thanks for the comment. The overall format of this show is intended to give an overview of the guest's experience and of their field of study, but it's evolved over time. We do focus a litt…
Just finished listening to the episode with Ellen Weatherford from Just the Zoo of Us and it was such a joyous and educational chat.Vikram is a good host, as he keeps the show flowing, and Ellen is an excellent guest. Both podcasters are incredibly knowledgable with a clear passion for each of their subject areas. It was also great to hear them weigh-in on being podcasters, having great perspectives to offer.I learned a lot about relationships between plants and animals, and can't wait to listen to more episodes of Planthropology! (...quality podcast name by the way).
PlanthropologyMatt, thanks so much for the kind words! I appreciate you listening and hope you find moe interesting plant stuff to love in future episodes!
Planthropology is one of my favourite podcasts. Vikram is a charming, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable host and I always finish an episode having learnt some pretty great stuff. The sound quality is perfect and the episodes fly by!
PlanthropologyLove you, friend! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Vikram is an incredibly brilliant host, whose passion for plants truly shows!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! My favorite podcasts are the ones that talk about how one subject intersects with other subjects - it's always so surprising to me when animals effected history, or a crime ended up advancing science, stuff like that. Vikram isn't just talking about plants, though it's clear plants are his passion - but he discusses how plants affect our lives in a bigger way than "oh, they only make oxygen". They do so much more! From the coffee you drink, the beer you (ok, I) love, and more - so get in on this podcast. STAT.
very educational!
We need more approachable, science-based content out there. So in addition to being a fun podcast, it's also super important. I feel like a smarter person after every episode. And Vikram Baliga is a great host (and Tiktok presence... *cough cough*)
I am a Horticulture major at TTU and a nerd that loves a good podcast! I enjoy listening and excited to be adding it to my routine. #crazyplantlady
I'm a biologist and I'll be honest -- I've always found plant bio to be boring. Look, I get it, plants are super important and they can be pretty and stuff blah blah. But I've had to TA plant bio labs and all that stuff and boy was I not into it!But Planthropology is awesome. First of all, it does an excellent job of relating the science and practical reality of plants to human lives and the world around us. It features interviews with great scientists and plant world activists that are fantastic at communicating science, policy, and every day useful tips about plants! And it isn't all just directly about plants -- topics cover plant-adjacent stuff too like aquifers/water management, scientific engagement, bugs, etc.
PlanthropologyThanks Sean! You've been such a big supporter of the show and it means a lot!
