Preparing Outdoor Faucets for Winter
Step 1: Stroll the perimeter of your home and locate all exterior faucets. Get rid of any connected pipes and drain residual water out of each.

Step 2: Inside the house, usually near the main water shutoff valve or the ceiling of the basement, locate the private shutoff valve in each supply line resulting in a faucet. Step 3: Turn the water off at the shutoff valve. Go outside and open the faucet; some water will drain pipes out.
