Has Christian punk secretly topped the charts? Twenty One Pilots has become one of the biggest bands in the world over the past years, but are they a Christian Band? A Band of Christians? Should they be considered a the most successfully zeitgeist cross-over Christian music success since Stryper? This question was tasked to us by a curious listener who wanted our expert opinions. To be honest, at first we were skeptical, not knowing much about the rising stars, but we soon were intrigued. We look at the history of the band, and the beliefs of the members, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. We give analysis of some lyrics, including fan interpretations. We also look at the "Blurryface" mythology created on the latest record and how it can work with classic Christian identity. Finally, we look at other bands with a Christian music background that are getting crossover success in the trendy Americana-Folk genre, such as Judah The Lion.
