1:05

Hello. It's Leanne here from the

1:07

Beach Travel Wine podcast. This

1:09

is the podcast where my husband and I take

1:12

you traveling around the world, one wine

1:14

at a time. On our latest trip, we

1:16

visited over forty cities and villages

1:18

in Spain. In episode eight,

1:20

we tell you all about Neha on the Costa

1:22

de Sol, which we believe is a

1:24

perfect holiday destination. You

1:26

are listening to the podcasting business school,

1:29

and now here's your host, Adam

1:31

Shively.

1:32

What's up pod pals? Is that you buddy, Adam? You're

1:34

checking out podcasting, business school to

1:36

show where teach podcasters, how to love

1:38

their podcast like a hobby, and

1:40

build it like a business.

1:43

How's it going? Pod pals. I'm

1:45

really excited about this episode. It's

1:47

episode three hundred and thirty one. How to monetize

1:50

your podcast with a coaching or

1:52

consulting offer. Now

1:54

first things first, coaching consulting. To me, it's

1:57

like the same thing. Some of my fancier

1:59

pod piles, like, I'm not a coach. I'm a

2:01

consultant. And you probably

2:03

now that I think about it, you could probably charge

2:05

more if you call yourself or label

2:08

your package as a consulting offer. So

2:10

maybe we lean that direction. But anyway, I

2:12

feel like these terms are interchangeable. But,

2:15

you know, use whatever you like. We're talking coaching

2:17

and consulting. And before, some

2:19

of you pump your brakes, you go, oh, not for me.

2:22

I'm specifically talking to those of you that are, like,

2:24

more topic podcasters, maybe

2:27

mainly focus on interviews. You

2:29

don't have a niche. You don't have anything to sell.

2:31

I've got something for you. Alright. I've got

2:34

something for you or you can

2:36

monetize with the coaching consulting offer and

2:38

it's it's gonna blow your mind. You're gonna be like, I can't

2:40

believe I've never thought of that before. Alright? Now

2:42

if you are a service provider, this is

2:44

your wheelhouse. You probably have

2:46

a coaching consulting offer. Maybe

2:48

it's working. Maybe it's not. If it's not, I'm sure you

2:50

had to make better. Alright? So

2:53

those are really the two lanes

2:55

when you look at podcasters in relation

2:57

to a an opportunity to monetize

3:00

with coaching and consulting. We've got the service providers

3:02

and then the non service providers, the people

3:04

that don't have anything to sell. And again,

3:06

I'm gonna hook you both up. Alright? And

3:09

by the way, did you listen to the

3:11

new intro? If not, Hit

3:14

that rewind button and listen to

3:16

it. I brought the big movie podcast

3:18

voice in a world full of podcasters

3:21

making no money. Just

3:23

check it out. I worked hard on that and

3:26

just pay me that little tip in the tip jar.

3:28

Go back and listen to that intro for me.

3:30

Alright. Anyway, then let me know what you're saying. So

3:34

let me make the case for coaching

3:36

and consulting. And I truly believe this is

3:38

the easiest way for podcasters to

3:40

monetize I'm

3:42

working on a concept that I called

3:44

the podcast monetization pyramid.

3:46

It's like the food pyramid, but for podcasts

3:48

who's making money. That'll

3:50

be coming out down down the road here. But

3:53

I feel like a lot of us have it

3:55

kind of flipped where podcasters

3:58

are gonna do it thinking they're gonna make a bunch of money

4:00

and really focusing on sponsorships. And

4:03

in my experience over the last seven

4:05

years, and with a

4:07

lot of my podpals and my clients,

4:09

you know, sponsorship is not

4:11

easy. It is not lucrative. It is

4:13

not fun for most podcasters. It's

4:16

a very long term play and

4:18

you gotta nail it. There's a lot of competition and

4:20

it's kind of pain in the butt. Now we

4:22

talk about ELF

4:24

easy lucrative fund offers coaching and consulting

4:27

is something that you can do with a smaller

4:29

audience. I feel

4:31

like your audience is much more likely to

4:33

purchase an off that includes a

4:35

direct connection to you. Alright?

4:37

They listen to you. You're that little voice of reason

4:39

in their ears, and they

4:42

wanna directly connect with you and a lot of time

4:44

to jump at that opportunity. You

4:47

can get a coaching or consulting offer up

4:49

and running with very

4:51

little tech very little

4:53

startup money, if any. Alright.

4:55

I'm a teach you a very simple low

4:57

budget technique here in a

4:59

second. The people

5:02

are trying, you know, even other offers outside

5:04

of sponsorship.

5:06

We're talking about events, memberships,

5:10

courses, all those

5:12

again in my experience require a

5:15

larger audience. That takes some

5:17

time to nurture and

5:20

to build out an audience to be able to

5:22

monetize that because they require people Alright?

5:24

Not necessarily courses, but again,

5:26

the courses don't involve

5:28

that live interaction with you. So it's

5:30

a harder sale. It's a harder

5:32

sale to make point blank period.

5:34

Alright? Memberships, they

5:36

take people. You've got two people in there.

5:39

That's, you know, that's small group coaching. That's not

5:41

a membership. Alright? So

5:43

events, especially, my god, podpiles

5:45

do not schedule a live event. If

5:47

you got a small audience, and then go,

5:49

man, I'd hope a hundred people show up when you're

5:51

getting twelve downloads per episode. Alright?

5:53

That's not a good focus of

5:55

your energy and attention right now. We

5:58

can get there. I've got more episodes

6:00

about monetization coming up for the next couple months,

6:02

and we'll dive into these different topics.

6:05

When are you ready for them? When are you not ready for

6:07

them? But when it comes to making

6:09

money first and

6:11

easiest as a podcaster, I

6:13

truly believe nothing beats the

6:15

coachingconsulting offer.

6:17

Alright? So think about that. If

6:19

I'm starting to win you over a

6:21

little bit to this idea, let

6:23

me give you a sample

6:26

template of what

6:28

I call my low budget,

6:30

low tech, two week

6:32

consultation package. Alright?

6:35

So my low budget, low tech, two week

6:37

consultation package template. So

6:41

I feel like when it comes

6:43

to putting a consultation

6:45

offer out there, coaching offer out there, it helps to

6:47

have a system If you wanna

6:49

stand out a little bit, don't be the person. It's like it's

6:51

x amount of dollars for thirty minutes,

6:53

and there we go. If you have more

6:55

of a package, more of a system, and you can

6:57

have an initiative behind

6:59

that, a specific topic that you're

7:01

gonna teach on or whatever, that

7:03

is really gonna help you stand out and and

7:05

market and brand this thing. So This

7:08

is my low budget

7:10

two week consultation package that I offer

7:12

for people that are in my ecosystem.

7:15

AKAUL. So but I don't talk about it

7:17

a lot. Like, this isn't a a tip

7:19

of the spear type of sale. This is

7:21

usually a down sell or, oh,

7:23

You don't wanna do my thing

7:26

because it's too expensive. This is a downgraded

7:28

option where we can do my two week consultation

7:31

package instead. But if you're just getting started

7:33

and you don't have multiple offers or like a

7:35

signature offer or a signature course or anything

7:37

like that, this is a great

7:39

freaking place to start. Great place to

7:41

start. So my low budget,

7:43

low-tech, two week consultation package,

7:46

template. The first week

7:48

you're gonna do a forty five minute one on one

7:50

session via Zoom. Zoom.

7:52

Alright. Low tech. Just

7:55

Zoom. Forty five minutes. This

7:57

is where you should kind

7:59

of hack out the core

8:01

subject matter where you're diving

8:03

deep on that topic that you are trying to make

8:05

an impact on with that person that hired you. And

8:08

then you're giving them homework. You're giving them

8:10

action steps to walk away from

8:12

that first forty five minute session. Then

8:14

the second week of this two week consultation

8:17

package is gonna be a fifteen minute

8:19

follow-up session. Again, via

8:21

Zoom. And this is

8:23

not giving them new things to work

8:25

on. This is checking in on implementation.

8:27

Alright? I gave you homework last week, we

8:30

doing on that, you've tried to implement x, y, and

8:32

z, how is that going? What do we

8:34

need to tweak? Alright.

8:36

And I used to do just a straight up one

8:38

session, sixty minute. Consultation.

8:42

And I found this method to be much

8:44

more effective. It's the same amount of

8:46

time spent. But I

8:48

can give you plenty of things to work

8:50

on in forty five minutes. For those of you

8:52

that have done a consultation with me or have worked with me in

8:54

the past with one on one coaching, you know what I'm

8:56

talking about? Like, I am an idea

8:58

factory and I kick out

9:00

actionable steps like another. So in

9:02

forty five minutes, I can give you play.

9:04

To work on especially for, you know, a week

9:06

or two. So

9:08

what I found was we spent forty five minutes

9:11

together. I give you a lot of of actionable steps

9:13

to work on whether it's I do a lot of

9:15

these for people that are rebranding. They

9:17

come to me like, I think I need to change the name of the

9:19

show. I think I might have to do a rebrand.

9:22

Help them set up their their strategy around that and

9:24

make sure they don't mess it up again the second

9:26

time that they they rename and rebrand

9:28

and re SEO their show. I

9:30

give them all their homework, and then I make the compliment on that. The

9:32

next week, we follow-up for fifteen minutes. I go, okay,

9:34

I needed you to change, come up with a list of

9:36

names for your rebranded podcast. What's

9:38

your top five list? Okay. I like that one

9:40

the best. But change this word and that

9:42

word. Then we look at their image and look, okay,

9:45

this word needs to be bigger. I want this word to

9:47

be a different color. Blah

9:49

blah blah. And then we look at, like,

9:51

their SEO or whatever. Okay. You did really good

9:53

with your host description. Here are the

9:55

top five episode names that I

9:57

want you to use Here are the words I want

9:59

you using in almost all of your episodes.

10:01

Blah blah blah. And so we kinda

10:03

fine tune and tweak everything in

10:05

that fifteen minute session. Nothing

10:07

new. Now over the

10:09

two weeks, what I do

10:11

is unlimited question and

10:13

answer access via the Voxer app. So

10:15

Voxer is like a walkie talkie app, so we

10:17

can we can blast voice notes back

10:19

and forth. We can share files, images,

10:23

obviously, text back and forth. This way, they don't

10:25

have your phone number because that can make it weird,

10:27

right, for

10:29

a host of reasons. You

10:31

know, sometimes clients

10:35

like, it'll it'll kinda blur the lines

10:37

of is it okay for me to text you on a

10:39

Sunday? Where on the Voxer app, you can be like, hey,

10:41

I tell people, I'm very active on there

10:43

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, my core

10:45

workdays. If it's outside of those days, I'll do a

10:47

little bit you know, maybe

10:49

a twenty four hour response time

10:51

blah blah blah. But they

10:53

can just blast me with q and a as

10:55

much as they want for two weeks that

10:58

were doing this consultation package.

11:00

Now the fourth component of

11:03

this package template is

11:05

some sort of a shared

11:07

Google Sheet dashboard. This

11:09

is where you're gonna track your notes from your

11:11

sessions, homework, You can put

11:13

resources in there. You could put

11:15

podcast episode links from your show to

11:17

help them out with the homework that you gave them.

11:19

But this is a

11:21

nice organization tool again,

11:23

free Google Sheet. You know, you can use

11:25

evernote, whatever. Google Sheet is

11:27

easy. People know how to work on

11:29

Google. So just create like a

11:31

spreadsheet with different tabs. And I usually

11:33

have a current notes tab

11:35

from session, a homework

11:37

tab, and then I have, like, links and

11:39

resources. And boom, we're

11:41

off and running. So again,

11:43

this is something you can do.

11:45

Like, look at look at the tech reason.

11:47

Zoom, basically free

11:49

or very, very low cost, but most

11:51

people have already. Voxer

11:54

free and then Google Sheet's

11:56

free. Alright? You can

11:58

have this with this format

12:00

up and running today.

12:02

Alright? All you gotta do is figure out

12:04

a payment link whether it's PayPal or

12:06

Stripe or I use WAVE

12:08

apps a lot, set

12:10

that up, and then you get people in front of

12:12

it and away we go. Alright.

12:14

Now, I made a promise at the

12:16

beginning of the episode, beginning of our chat

12:18

here. What if Adam I'm

12:20

a general topic podcaster. I just

12:22

have a show where I get together

12:24

with guests and we talk about random things.

12:26

And it's just like an entertainment based

12:28

show. You focus on

12:30

interviews. AKA, you don't have a

12:32

damn thing to sell. You don't have programs. You

12:34

don't have products. You services

12:37

and you don't view yourself as a

12:39

coach or a consultant. Alright?

12:41

And I

12:43

feel like this is the the

12:46

minority of my audience, but there's enough of you in there

12:48

that I need to cover this. And I got you back as

12:50

promised podpiles. So we

12:52

have to look at your assets. And

12:54

this is something that all podcasters can do, by

12:56

the way, whether you have programs, products, and

12:58

services or not. So this serves everybody. Alright?

13:00

So we have to look at three important

13:02

assets that we have as podcasters.

13:05

Number one, you are an experienced podcaster.

13:07

So AKA. If you've got ten

13:09

episodes and you're putting out content, you are more

13:11

experienced than somebody that hasn't

13:13

launched yet. So you are an ex what I call

13:15

an experienced podcast or or

13:17

content creator. Number

13:20

two, you're an experienced interviewer.

13:22

That's a skill. Like especially

13:24

if you're only doing interviews, the

13:26

art of the interview in doing one and doing

13:28

one well, that's something

13:31

that people may be willing to pay for.

13:33

Alright? The third thing is you're an

13:35

experienced public speaker. You're flipping that mic

13:37

on. Some of you are going live some of you are

13:39

are live streaming your episodes. You're

13:42

creating content in a public form to

13:44

be consumed by the public. Alright?

13:46

You're an experienced public speaker.

13:49

Another asset is like

13:51

you most likely are creating

13:53

and marketing on social media. You're creating

13:55

social media marketing assets. Instagram

13:57

reels. You're creating images and

13:59

carousels for Facebook. You're putting up pins on

14:01

Pinterest, YouTube. Like,

14:03

you have these skill sets.

14:06

Now, Alright? So

14:08

the game plan I would give to you if you

14:10

wanna explore this rabbit hole and make some

14:12

money like from a coaching consulting

14:14

perspective is

14:17

there's lots of competition for these types

14:19

of services in the

14:21

general space. You go on Instagram,

14:23

there are a million different podcast editors

14:25

or podcast launch things or

14:27

social media marketing people. But

14:29

where I think you could get a unique advantage is

14:31

that local business events and

14:33

make some money initially. I I bet

14:36

I'll be willing to bet there are

14:38

opportunities for every podcaster to

14:40

make five to ten thousand dollars from the

14:42

local market in the next three to

14:44

six months you approach

14:46

this with this little game plan that I've got

14:48

for you. Alright? So you gotta think

14:50

about what these assets that we've got.

14:52

You could be teaching people,

14:54

you know, how to launch a podcast. You

14:56

could be consulting on that. You can

14:58

consult about being an interviewer or

15:00

being interviewed on podcast.

15:02

You could be a consultant on public speaking

15:04

or social media asset creation

15:06

or whatever. And we dive into

15:08

local business events. You look at your chamber

15:10

of commerce. You look at B and

15:12

I or EO groups or,

15:14

you know, just you hosting a local

15:16

meetup. And what we're looking to

15:18

do is give a free presentation about

15:21

some area of your expertise

15:24

whether it's podcast startup tips,

15:26

social media marketing tips,

15:28

interviewing tips, but you approach it

15:30

from, hey, I am a podcaster.

15:33

This is my show. This is what I do. Here's

15:35

my experience level, and that gives

15:37

you immediate credibility in clout with

15:39

this audience, especially when it's a local

15:41

audience. They they may know you, maybe

15:43

you grew up in that that town or

15:45

whatever. And it's kind

15:47

of a cool thing to have a someone

15:49

that's out there doing it, creating media being

15:51

a podcast. People know what

15:53

podcasts are now. People know what

15:55

podcasting is. And a lot of people

15:57

are podcast curious or they're curious

15:59

about these skill sets that we

16:01

have developed as podcasters. So,

16:04

you know, give that presentation. At

16:06

one of these local groups, the

16:08

Chamber Commerce, be an IE0 local meetups,

16:11

whatever, and

16:13

look at operate consulting on, again, podcast

16:15

launch, interviewing skills, public speaking

16:17

skills, all of the above

16:19

media, social media, marketing, All

16:22

these things make you a marketable,

16:24

especially local speaker,

16:26

and there are local businesses

16:28

and entrepreneurs that will hire

16:30

you And begin, start off using

16:32

my quick low budget two week

16:34

consultation package, and you

16:36

could be monetizing whether

16:39

or somebody that really envisions yourself

16:41

as a coach or not. And

16:43

think about how fun it would be to teach some

16:45

people in your local community about

16:48

marketing via social media or

16:51

an interview skills workshop.

16:53

Here's what I do on my show. Here are my

16:55

top twelve recommendations

16:57

for having a successful interview or

16:59

maybe, you know, you just could walk them through

17:01

that as, you know, a consultation

17:03

package. So opportunities

17:07

are there, pod pals, whether

17:09

you are a coach, whether you envision yourself as a

17:11

coach, whether you sell programs and products or

17:13

services or not. Alright?

17:15

So if I over the the last fifteen minutes

17:17

or so here, I've been able to prove to you that

17:19

this is a very simple,

17:22

effective, and budget friendly way

17:24

start bringing dollars into

17:26

your podcasting business. Because I know a

17:28

lot of you are like, Adam, I'd

17:30

like to invest in coaching. I'd

17:32

like to invest in different, you

17:35

know, Hyra VA. I'd like to get some

17:37

money flowing through my business so I can

17:39

up level and hire

17:41

and and learn more

17:43

and all these things. But you're like,

17:45

I just you're like waiting to build up

17:47

enough of an audience for

17:49

sponsors to be attracted to your show.

17:51

Let's stop waiting. Let's start making some

17:53

damn money. Alright. Twenty twenty three can be

17:55

the year where you monetize. Alright?

17:59

Via coaching, consulting, via

18:01

non sponsorship options.

18:03

I need a lot of you to get the sponsorship

18:05

thing out of your head just for a

18:08

minute. Just let's let's make some

18:10

money for a while before we try

18:12

to get underwear company money or mattress

18:14

company money or mushroom coffee

18:16

money. Alright? That can be an option

18:18

down the road, but this is a viable

18:20

option for now. For

18:22

small audience, for just getting

18:24

started first ten episodes, you

18:26

can do this. Alright? I've done it. I've seen how

18:28

people do it. And I coach people

18:31

on how to do this. Now along

18:33

those lines, if you did listen, my

18:35

big movie trailer voice intro. You

18:39

heard about my new three three week challenge.

18:41

It's coming up January

18:44

seventeenth. If any of this struck a chord and

18:46

you want some help and you want my help

18:48

for free and you want my help for

18:50

free for three freaking weeks,

18:52

then you need to get signed up for my free

18:54

three week coaching and consulting offer,

18:56

think tank. So the

18:59

main focus points on this

19:01

are threefold. Alright? First

19:04

one, help you dial in your branding

19:07

and the naming of your offer to help

19:09

you attract your ideal clients. The

19:11

second thing is the packaging and pricing.

19:13

This is where, you know, I used

19:15

to struggle. I know most of you

19:17

struggle because you are not

19:20

adding enough value with

19:22

the packaging, but then also you

19:24

aren't charging enough. You are

19:26

working for scraps and it sucks. And

19:28

I'm gonna make sure that we don't do that anymore.

19:31

Alright? We're gonna make sure you earn

19:33

what you are worth with the value that you

19:35

are delivering. Then we're gonna work on

19:37

sell and offer simply a simple

19:39

sales system to get things going to get

19:41

some money in the bank account so they

19:43

can level up your podcasting business. Alright.

19:45

Now this starts on Tuesday,

19:47

January seventeenth twenty

19:49

twenty three. The main website has the

19:51

sign up link podcasting business dot

19:53

school, WWW dot podcasting

19:55

business dot school. The link

19:57

in the show notes also is

19:59

right there, so hit that up. This is gonna be

20:01

really good. For those of you that did my my

20:04

super fan accelerator challenge,

20:06

a couple of months

20:08

ago. That was really

20:10

great. We had great interaction, great

20:12

feedback. People like, wow, I didn't pay for

20:14

this, and this is changing my

20:16

my my game as far as

20:19

podcast audience engagement, we'll

20:21

set party engagement. That's

20:23

a totally different topic. But podcast

20:26

audience engagement. Like,

20:28

that really made a high impact. I

20:30

had a lot of fun and the hundred and

20:32

sixty or so challenge participants had a blast

20:34

as well. So I think this is

20:36

gonna be even better. Because in

20:39

the three weeks,

20:41

I guarantee unto you there's

20:43

gonna be a handful people that start making money before the challenge

20:45

is even done. Alright? I I'm

20:48

very motivated to produce that kind of

20:50

result in this challenge. Because

20:52

it's gonna get people hyped up for the next one.

20:54

Right? So if you're thinking about coaching and

20:56

consulting or if you've got a coaching and consulting

20:59

offer, and you wanna optimize

21:01

it so that more of your audience members

21:03

are converting over into

21:05

being your best clients. This is gonna

21:07

be for you. Give it a shot go

21:09

get signed up. We start January

21:11

seventeenth, and I'd love to see you in

21:13

there. So lots of great content coming

21:15

up about monetization of

21:18

the next six ish weeks. Right?

21:20

I really, really, really am dedicating

21:22

twenty twenty three to be the year

21:24

where you start making money or

21:27

you make enough money to go full

21:29

time or you make enough money

21:31

to, you know, set a new

21:33

personal best and set yourself free and quit

21:35

your nine to five, all that stuff. So

21:37

Twenty twenty three is gonna be that year we're gonna set

21:39

the tone with the next several weeks of

21:42

content and with the

21:44

free challenge. Kicking off on January seventeenth,

21:46

but we see in there. And with that

21:48

podpals, I will send you out into the world wishing you

21:49

health, happiness, many

21:52

dollars, and many downloads. see you

21:54

next time. This is John DiRante from
