The Podcaster Hall of fame inductees has been announced, and they might not all be who you were expecting.

First of all before I get too far ahead of myself, there is a podcaster’s hall of fame for anyone who may not know. It has been around for a few years now with the first inductees coming in during 2015.

Now, this year there are 5 people being inducted. Some of them I know, some of them I don’t but hey, that just goes to show that the world of podcasting is big and there is always something for everyone.

Now, I did check out the shows I wasn’t super knowledgable about and this is supposed to be a short show so I am going to briefly go over each person, but if you want to get to know these people a little more I have links in the show notes and over at thepodcastbrief.com

With all of that out of the way, here are the podcast hall of fame inductees of 2017:

Brian Ibbott

Brian Ibbott is best known for his show Coverville, which started back in 2004. Coverville is a podcast dedicated to cover songs. The podcast is also nominated as the best music podcast for the Academy of Podcasters.

Dan Klass

Dan Klass has been doing a podcast also since 2004 but his show is very different to that of Brian Ibott’s. His show, called The Bitterest Pill, is a solo show he does where he talks about his life and his “inadequacies.” I actually took a listen to his most recent episode and I am hooked after just a few minutes in, I can see why he is being inducted in the hall of fame.

He also teaches podcasting at UCLA, yeah you heard that right he is a teacher at UCLA where he teaches podcasting. He is actually working on getting that course online for anyone to buy it, so check out my link to his website in the description if you are interested in that.

Elsie Escobar

Elsie Escobar is actually a friend of my last show where her and I chatted about her podcasting origin and she’s been a huge help for me personally as a co-host of Libsyn’s The Feed.

I am actually going to repost that interview on this show when I release this episode so if you want to listen to it just check the feed on this show and give it a listen.

Luria Petrucci (AKA Cali Lewis)

Luria Petrucci is a podcaster and a pioneer in live-streaming. She is best known for her shows Geekbeat.tv and Geekbrief.tv. She’s been podcasting since 2005 and has worked for Samsung, AT&T, DISH Network, and many more big name companies and honestly when it comes to live streaming the guys over at Geekbeat are comparable to none.

Rob Greenlee

Rob Greenlee is a man I know mainly from Spreaker and as a co-host on The New Media Show. But he has been in the podcasting space since 2004 and used to be one of the head guys at Podcast One. He also worked as a content manager for XBOX and Zune. He also was the former host of the first ever syndicated radio show to move to podcasting. The man is a legend in the podcasting space and if you haven’t been watching his stuff and hearing what he has to say about the podcasting space you are missing out big time!

So those are all of this year’s inductees into the Podcasting Hall of Fame and congratulations to all of them.

If you want to be a part of the Hall of fame ceremony it will be at Podcast Movement this year as it has been every year. Sadly I cannot make it but if you do end up going I would love to hear about it.
