Say Goodbye to iTunes Podcasts and hello to Apple Podcasts
Apple recently rebranded podcasting, changing it from iTunes Podcasts to Apple Podcasts.
The rebrand came early this morning and Steve Wilson, who works in the Podcasting Department at Apple, sent a link to Apple Podcasts Identity Guidelines where you can get a new badge, and how you can link your podcast.
This rebrand seems to be the start of some of the changes in Podcasting Eddy Cue promised back in February at the Code Media Conference, where he said Apple is working on new features for podcasts.
There's some speculation that this is Apple's first step to making Apple Podcasts more like Apple Music, but as of now there's zero evidence of this.
Personally I think this is just a fresh coat of paint for now, but I can see this as a way to make Podcasts a separate entity from iTunes, meaning a standalone app on both Mac and iOS, which is actually good news in my opinion.
But for now, I would get the new badge on Apple's website, and use their guidelines to help showcase the new Apple Podcasts.
I have links in the description of this episode and over at ThePodcastBrief.com.
Until then this has been another Podcast Brief, my name is Jeff Perry and I will have more for you tomorrow.
