Mark Hawthorne on his upcoming book, “Bleating Hearts,” and Nava Atlas on the art of healthy vegan cooking

In today’s show, we talk with Mark Hawthorne, author of the soon to be released book, “Bleating Hearts: The Hidden World of Animal Suffering,” which examines the world’s vast exploitation of animals. Mark also shares his thoughts on the success of his previous book, “Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide to Animal Activism.”

We also talk with Nava Atlas, founder of VegKitchen.com and author of numerous vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, including “Wild about Greens” and “Vegan Holiday Kitchen.”

In addition, we discuss why superfoods are not so super for the animals who undergo cruel and unnecessary tests in manufacturer’s attempts to make health claims, let you know how you can help memorialize the 46 million turkeys that are killed and consumed each year during Thanksgiving, tell you why Queen guitarist Brian May is fighting for badgers in Britain, and discuss a new survey that you can take to be included in a worldwide count of vegans.

And, of course, we highlight other News from the Vegan Frontier, let you know about vegan related happenings in and around Central Oregon, and more!
