We start with an exclusive story for you today

0:12

Spotify is no longer a member of the IAB,

0:16

having quietly ceased its membership in the last three months. After we made a press inquiry

0:21

Spotify's Megaphone, Chartable and the Spotify for Podcasters host formerly known as Anchor

0:27

were removed from the published list of compliant companies for podcast measurement. They last underwent certification in 2020.

0:35

A Spotify spokesperson told Podnews that they're taking a pause and will evaluate a formal membership later this year.

0:43

You can read their statement in full in our show notes and our newsletter at podnews.net

0:48

They're the largest global digital audio advertising company with ad-supported revenue last quarter of

0:54

$533 million. They're bigger than Sirius XM, iHeart, Cumulus, Audacy and Acast although all those other companies are

1:02

IAB members. Well, we'd like to carry views from the rest of the industry about the news later this week

1:08

I'm [email protected] or you can hit the boost button if you have something to say

1:13

Meanwhile podcast hosting company Podbean has also been removed from the list of IAB compliant companies

1:21

They were last certified in 2020 the IAB's compliance certification guide

1:25

states that a company must submit for certification at least once in the past 12 months

1:30

Last week Libsyn was recertified under the IAB podcast measurement guidelines.

1:35

Captivate and Buzzsprout were last certified under version 2.0 in 2020,

1:41

but both companies are in the process of recertification. We're told the IAB doesn't publish the costs for undergoing podcast measurement

1:49

certification, so we have, and you'll find those in our show notes and our newsletter at podnews.net

1:54

Meanwhile Realm has selected Flightpath as an ad revenue optimization tool.

1:59

2:18

4:12

he's the latest guest on Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps today.
