The summer of 2020 was filled with a number of events that illuminated the amount of police brutality against minorities in the United States. In this podcast, we listen to the experiences of a black father, Charles Makachi, who lived in London before coming to the United States. As he describes the differences between the police in London and the United States, we look to Michael Sierra-Arevalo’s “The Commemoration of Death, Organizational Memory, and Police Culture” and“Cop in the Hood” by Peter Moskos to further inform us about how police culture in the US is structured.
