->A new notion of "human security" since 1994 has offered a fundamental challenge to the "growth-first" orientation in much of the postwar development policy. ->Given this new stimulus for policy studies, we cope with the multi-layered tasks: 1) the fundamentals of policy research; 2)the examinations of the tools or research and analyses; 3) the historical inquiry into the origins of the nexsus between Development and Human Security beyond 1990s; and 4) research excercises in selected policy issues.-> The students are required to participate in the following activities: 1) In-Class discussion; 2) Digesting reading assignments; 3) Excercise in proposing policy research; and 4) Final oral presentations.
