The safety pin has made a statement. And it's not a fashion statement, there is deeper meaning.
A movement has started in the U.S. of people wearing a safety pin as a way of showing they are a safe space for those who are afraid.
The movement began over the summer in England following the Brexit vote, also as a way to show refugees and immigrants they had friends.
And the movement is not without merit. There have been numerous reports of harassment and intimidation of minorities.
No one - whatever their beliefs - should feel afraid.
The Poppy Sports mission has been, and will always been a statement about who we are as women. Front and center on our website, it says 'empowering women through sport.'
Our company mission is to acknowledge, celebrate and develop the role that sport plays in creating strong women who have the confidence to live full, engaged lives.
Fear is real for all of us. Sometimes it's internal fear, sometimes it's in our faces. Our sisterhood is about supporting each other. And the safety pin movement is just that.
To show our support, to show we live every day to bring confidence to others, we created the safety pin charm. It's not a symbol of political discourse, it's a symbol of togetherness, empowerment, strength and how we are all better when we look out for each other.
Available in limited supplies as we get them, please share.
Peace everyone.
