Construction sites have a rugged reputation. They can still benefit from protection from the elements, though. On this episode of the Powerhouse Players podcast, Rob Chaffee, executive director of integrated packaging for Trachte, sat down with host Sean Heath as they discussed the common sense that accompanies the use of an “e-house” on a site.

All construction sites are exposed to the elements, to some degree, but the expensive electrical and mechanical equipment (and personnel) don’t have to be completely unprotected, according to Chaffee.

“An e-house provides practically unlimited options under that roof. It also protects personnel from the weather," he said.

The benefits of a custom solution are exponential, Chaffee explained.

“Each is an engineered solution for just what the customer’s looking for. I used to make the statement that we never build the same thing twice, and then we had a customer order 4 identical buildings and that ruined that story, forever,” Chaffee added, laughing.

“I now say we rarely make the same thing twice," he said.

Ultimately, these buildings are manufactured to be a permanent part of the construction.

“Our standard exterior is a metal skin on the outside. So, very durable, very long-lasting,” Chaffee detailed.

“We did some projects down in the lower end of Brooklyn, New York, next to some brownstone, high-rise apartment buildings and we had to put a brick exterior on the building. There’s a myriad of options to help these buildings blend in to the environment they’re going into.”
