In today's episode of Psych Talk I chat with Pam Covarrubias, a podcaster, speaker, and coach, about Calladita Culture. Pam discusses what Calladita Culture is - part of the system that has kept women small, quiet, and unaccomplished - and describes how root of Calladita Culture is Machismo and Marianismo as taught in Latin America. We discuss how these messages are passed down to women and girls of various cultures, the impact of these messages on mental health, and how these messages are damaging for women and femmes. Pam discusses her own healing from Calladita Culture and how she helps other women and femmes heal too through inner child work and EFT, also known as "tapping". Additionally, Pam ends the episode with an invitation for women who have been subject to Calladita Culture, or cultures similar, to take the first step in their healing journey.
