In today's episode of Psych Talk I chat with Rebecca Guidera (she/they), LPC, a therapist specializing in pleasure, intimacy, sex, and relationships. Rebecca defines for listeners what pleasure is, as well as what pleasure-based therapy encompasses. We discuss the exploration of pleasure within ourselves and others and the benefits of pleasure. Rebecca also discusses intimacy, the variety of ways people can be intimate beyond sexual intimacy, and how to cultivate more intimacy in our lives. Further, Rebecca discusses the importance of emotional awareness within ourselves and our relationships, how to cultivate more emotional awareness, and the benefits of being more emotionally aware. Additionally, as Rebecca specializes in working with women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and polyamorous relationships, she discusses why pleasure, intimacy, and emotional awareness are specifically important for these individuals.
