About Lisa Rawlinson in her own words:

I’m interested in digging in and understanding the world and reality using the act of creating as a means to spur learning, to focus and direct energy, and to investigate the human element and my personal connection to the world and our constantly shifting understanding of it. My translation of these things into a physical work of art or a piece of writing is at once intuitive, conceptual, and visceral. These are inseparable for me. Everything I create reflects the on-going evolution of my personal internal and external exploration; I do not consider my work to be defined by medium, technique, or even at times, style.

Informed by my previous career designing educational materials, the card readings I do for myself, and others—as well as wherever my curiosity and experience take me—I work primarily in water-based painting. Writing is also a key component and at times intersects with visual art.

I received my BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of North Texas in 1995 and was a founding member of Good/Bad Art Collective in Denton, Texas where I remained active until I ultimately choose to pursue my publishing career. In 2016 I "accidentally" began making art again and have since made a deliberate choice to focus my creativity on my own work, which exists both within and outside of the traditional art world. I am also a Reiki Master-Teacher and have a practice that merges card-reading, Reiki, painting, and poetry through my business website Open Window Meditations. While these exist in a different sphere, I consider them to be a vital part of my artistic practice and expression.
