0:11

0:15

0:18
This is such an amazing community
0:20
of people who want to improve
0:22
their health, their wellness, their mental
0:24
wellbeing. I'm just in love with
0:26
the community we've built here, the
0:29
pursue of wellness, and we've had
0:31
some amazing conversations with our guests
0:33
and every Thursday we a solo
0:35
episode. So happy Thursday if you're
0:37
listening. I'm here with the solar
0:39
episode today. Some person. Or Life
0:42
updates some tips. I have four
0:44
manifesting health which is a new
0:46
thing for me and then I'm
0:48
also going to be responding to
0:50
some voice messages you guys have
0:53
been leaving me. Hopefully I can
0:55
give you some advice on to
0:57
some questions. See what you guys
0:59
are saying today. I.
1:01
Feel like the last solo episode.
1:04
I didn't really give you any
1:06
person or updates. it was more
1:08
of a q and a. So
1:10
things have been very good lately.
1:12
We've spent the last couple of
1:14
weeks here in Austin. It's been
1:17
really nice to be at home.
1:19
We leave for I next week
1:21
I'm for some exciting put costs
1:23
interviews and other things. Greg and
1:25
I actually found out that we
1:27
are entrepreneur of the Year finalists
1:30
which is in same it. To
1:32
be considered as potentially entrepreneur of
1:34
the year, we shall see if
1:36
it really does help at all.
1:38
Probably faint because that is such
1:40
a dream come true. It's done
1:42
by region so we are considered
1:44
finalists for the Los Angeles area
1:47
which are. There are such amazing
1:49
entrepreneurs and ally. So again, such
1:51
an honor to be considered and
1:53
we're doing some final interviews for
1:55
that in I lay the Week
1:57
of the Thirteenth which is so.
2:00
They they I'm at. We had
2:02
Greg's parents my inlaws visit think
2:04
it was last week. Now I'm
2:06
and that was so fun to
2:08
have family in town. We went
2:10
on the boat we cooked, we
2:12
went out to dinner we walk.
2:14
it was really really lovely. And.
2:17
That was where I started eating bagels
2:19
which has become my new hyper six
2:21
a sense. I got a book. Colds?
2:24
what is it Cold? Everything But read
2:26
by Eric Kaiser. I want to say
2:28
on Amazon or legit, but I see
2:30
you guys have had a lot of
2:33
questions about it. It's not necessarily like
2:35
healthy, it's not gluten free or dairy
2:37
free or any of those things, but
2:40
I really feel like making baked goods
2:42
and home is just as superior option
2:44
because you can use organic, unbleached fluid.
2:47
Best eggs like the ingredients really massa
2:49
and it's is really fun for me.
2:51
So it's like a weekend tree and
2:54
I've been making his bagel and they
2:56
are slowly but surely improving every time
2:58
I make them. They are tricky like
3:00
I had to start the dough for
3:03
days beforehand but as you have to
3:05
make something called liquid Levant which is
3:07
like starter essentially ah and I had
3:10
thought it really early. The
3:12
either way the bagels have. Them bringing me so
3:14
much joy. On I think everyone eating them
3:16
is also experiencing joy. Say that makes me
3:18
how base I think next time I try.
3:21
A. By gets we shall see
3:23
an but yeah. Baiting has just
3:25
like really brought out this creative
3:27
side of me and again like
3:30
I'm really in this era of
3:32
hobbies. Oh guys, My. Chickens arrived
3:34
to say to their six weeks
3:37
old they was sought laying until
3:39
they six months so we have
3:41
some months to wait. Fags but
3:43
like they are looking like teenagers
3:45
at this point and two of
3:47
them are already best cities which
3:49
I just think is so for
3:52
can keep like basketball fans. and
3:54
yeah they get dropped off today
3:56
a false pm. I. Believe will
3:58
have eleven coming. Crazy.
4:01
A mixture. Of breeds we've got silky,
4:03
the cost fiber. He sir I days
4:05
we've got Salmond Sava rallies I think is
4:07
cold. I'll have to like figure out what
4:10
the breeds the again like I'm so new
4:12
to this and I will be figuring it
4:14
out as I go. If you guys want
4:16
to see my chicken coop. I. Did
4:18
a tour on my Instagram atmar in
4:20
a while and and I gave like
4:22
a full rundown of like Coop and
4:24
all but if from features and you
4:26
guys have loved it. Cigarettes had to
4:29
out of also been reading a lot
4:31
more. I have been reading every single
4:33
night and reading and Demon Copperhead right
4:35
now which is a Pulitzer prize winners.
4:37
I think a lot of people are
4:39
reading and is quite difficult to get
4:41
into cause the language is really different
4:43
but then once you get into it
4:45
gets really good and I also just
4:47
feel like it's been. A
4:49
very calming way of setting the tone
4:51
before bed if you haven't listened yet.
4:53
by the way guys I interviewed asleep
4:55
expert named Todd under sense we talked
4:57
all things sleep or the best advice
4:59
to sleep, how to set up your
5:01
night routine and optimize your sleep because
5:04
it's so for can employ and no
5:06
matter if your goal is to lose
5:08
weight, build muscle, clear skin sleep is
5:10
the. Or of everything's
5:12
on. He told me. That
5:15
the content you're watching is
5:17
really, really important if you're
5:19
watching some saying like. A
5:22
murder mystery that's really stressful and
5:24
violent. Watching that before bad is
5:26
quite damaging because your brain truly
5:28
believes that you are. A part
5:30
of what you're watching. So reading.
5:34
Has. Been just a much more com way
5:36
of like easing into my nighttime routine. So
5:38
I'll have my blue. Like all says on
5:40
I'll have my red light bulb next to
5:43
me. Greg's already asleep. Greg goes to sleep
5:45
like a forty five an hour, has his
5:47
eye mask on and I'll just read next
5:49
to him and his been ready lovelace. I
5:51
started reading and hugs and take those on
5:53
vacation because I didn't bring a book and
5:56
I just was given a random book by
5:58
the lost and found at the. hotel.
6:01
And I read the book like in three days and
6:03
I was like, Oh my God, I forgot how much
6:05
I love reading. And so now I've picked it up
6:07
again. And I'm really excited about it. Something
6:09
else I wanted to share with you guys. So
6:12
I know I talk a lot about acne and I hope
6:14
people aren't like tired
6:16
of hearing about it. But I
6:18
really feel like this advice I'm
6:20
about to give could be applied
6:23
to any health issue or mental
6:25
issue, whether it be digestive health,
6:27
a broken bone immunity. I've been
6:29
really struggling with my mental health around
6:32
my skin lately, just kind of hitting
6:34
a wall and feeling like really defeated
6:36
and frustrated to go from,
6:38
you know, clearing it up
6:40
and then having it come back. It's
6:42
like, what am I
6:45
doing wrong at this point? Like I've
6:47
tried everything. And also trying to conceive
6:50
at the same time. It's just almost
6:52
like too much pressure for
6:54
me. And I just reached
6:56
this point where I was like, I need to change
6:59
the way I'm thinking about this because clearly
7:01
it's not working. And I
7:04
think because I've had acne for like
7:06
on and off for 10 years
7:08
now, I really identify with
7:11
acne. Like I view myself
7:13
as someone that has acne
7:15
like I say words like
7:17
my acne or you know,
7:21
my acne is back, my acne is
7:23
bad. I am someone with acne and
7:25
these are ownership words. I'm
7:28
basically identifying myself as someone that
7:30
has acne rather than the acne.
7:33
It's separate from who I am. And I
7:35
really want to start changing my language and
7:38
the way I think about it. And
7:40
I actually had a really lovely conversation
7:43
with Sammy Clark, who many of you
7:45
probably know. She's a fitness influencer in
7:47
the space and she has struggled with
7:49
acne too. And I was basically just
7:51
telling her how much I've been struggling
7:53
with it on a
7:55
mental level. And she recommended
7:57
something called You
8:00
guys are going to die. Dick therapy.
8:03
Now, before you jump to conclusions, it's not
8:05
what you think. It
8:07
actually stands for a mantra
8:10
and I'm going to read it to
8:12
you. Direct, instruct, command,
8:14
compel, and condition. I
8:18
will link this video in the description
8:20
box below of this podcast because I
8:23
listened to this woman
8:25
explain this mindset shift this
8:28
morning. I had my eyes closed in front of
8:30
my red light and
8:33
she basically was talking about needing
8:36
to change the language around
8:38
our health problems. Stopping negative
8:40
language around health and acne can
8:42
change the outcome. And I
8:44
was thinking about it. And
8:47
since my weight loss journey, I
8:50
have identified myself as someone
8:52
who can lose weight
8:54
when they want to. So like, I
8:57
don't talk to myself in a way where I'm like,
8:59
I can never lose weight. Um,
9:01
I find it hard to lose weight. I
9:04
hold on to weight. Like I don't talk to
9:06
myself that way. And I was thinking like, that's
9:09
interesting because I feel like I don't struggle in
9:12
terms of like body, like
9:14
positivity, you know, like if I
9:16
decide I want to gain muscle, then I do, if
9:18
I decide I want to lose weight, then I do.
9:21
But with acne, I have decided
9:24
that I'm someone who will forever have
9:26
acne. So she
9:28
was basically saying, I'm in turn manifesting
9:30
to make my acne worse because every
9:33
day I'm waking up and saying, I'm
9:35
have acne. I will have acne. I
9:38
am acne. So I
9:41
really want to be intentional
9:43
about changing the language because
9:45
I've tried everything from supplements
9:47
to diet to lifestyle. But
9:50
have I really tried to change my
9:52
internal language around it? Not really. And
9:55
I had long conversations with my therapist about
9:57
this. And I think, you know, after having
9:59
my. brain scanned with Dr. Aemond, I
10:01
discovered that I have somewhat of OCD
10:03
patterns in my brain. And OCD is
10:05
very genetic and I see it in
10:07
my family as well. And my
10:10
OCD has definitely manifested in my
10:14
skin. I'm constantly checking my
10:16
skin. I struggle with skin picking.
10:18
I struggle with obsessive
10:21
research around acne and obsessive
10:24
ordering new supplements to try. And
10:26
it is something that
10:29
I truly have grown obsessive
10:32
around, I think. And I think that's made
10:34
it really difficult for me to heal because
10:36
I'm constantly hyperfixated on the problem. So
10:40
this DIC therapy,
10:42
D-I-C-C-C, is something that
10:45
you say to yourself when you're in the shower,
10:47
when you're getting ready, every time you have a
10:49
compulsion to look at your skin, or, you know,
10:51
this could apply to a digestive problem or immunity
10:54
if you're someone that says, wow, I get
10:57
sick every time I go out, I get
10:59
sick every time I travel, then
11:01
you will get sick. But if you say to yourself,
11:04
I am healthy, I will not get
11:06
sick, you are manifesting better
11:08
health for yourself. So for
11:10
example, for me, what I
11:13
will say and what I've already said to myself
11:15
about 10 times today is I
11:18
direct, I instruct, I command,
11:20
I compel and condition my
11:22
skin to work perfectly and
11:24
properly and powerfully because I
11:26
know that it can. And
11:28
I'm going to say that to myself over
11:31
and over and over all day, every time
11:33
I feel like my mind is slipping back
11:35
into the negative, which will happen inevitably all
11:37
day, because I tend to think about my
11:39
skin all day, I will bring this mantra
11:41
back up. And I'm going to try this,
11:43
guys. Like, I'm on like day one right
11:45
now, I'm going to keep doing this and
11:47
report back. But I just wanted to offer
11:50
that knowledge to anyone who is struggling with a health
11:52
problem or you know, any it could be anything. Just
11:55
fill in the blank, you know, for your own issue.
12:05
I have really struggled to find
12:07
skincare that I trust over the
12:09
years, struggling with acne, having super
12:11
sensitive skin. And that's
12:13
why I'm obsessed with clear stem. You guys have heard
12:16
me talk about them. I post about them. I
12:18
was using it far before I
12:20
even worked with them. And it's
12:23
such an honor to work with
12:25
people who have experienced acne themselves.
12:27
Kaylee and Danielle are amazing founders
12:29
and they created clear stem, which
12:31
is the first skincare line that
12:33
combines all three categories, anti-aging, anti-acne
12:36
and clean, meaning free of hormone disruptors
12:38
and poor clogging ingredients. So
12:41
not only do I use their skincare, but
12:43
I use their sunscreen, I use their body lotion
12:46
and now I use their new hair care,
12:48
which is really, really hard to find hair care
12:50
that is safe for skin. And as you guys
12:52
know, when you're showering, it does end up
12:54
getting all over your face. So it is really
12:56
important. And I have to say it is
12:59
so fresh feeling. I'm obsessed with both of
13:01
the products. I feel like my hair also
13:03
feels really, really soft and shiny. I
13:05
also love their acne lab test, which is
13:08
helping thousands of people get to the root
13:10
cause of their acne through comprehensive lab testing
13:12
and lifestyle based recommendations. I think if you're
13:14
struggling with acne, the first thing you should
13:17
do is get lab tested because it can
13:19
reveal so many underlying
13:21
issues and that really is
13:23
the core of healing. Visit
13:25

13:38
guys know that Greg and I are obsessed
13:40
with optimizing our sleep routine. I feel like
13:42
we have it down to a science now.
13:44
And at this point, I'm sure you've heard
13:46
of 8 sleep. It is a
13:48
buzz worthy sleep technology called the pod.
13:50
It can be added to your existing
13:52
mattress like a fitted sheet to automatically
13:54
cool down or warm up your side
13:57
of the bed and in turn improve
13:59
your sleep quality dramatically. Greg and
14:01
I have been using the 8 Sleep for I
14:03
think two years now and it
14:06
is a non-negotiable in our routine. We
14:08
cool it down every night to optimize
14:10
sleep. I can see through tracking
14:12
my sleep how much it has improved my
14:15
HRV, how much deeper I'm sleeping
14:17
and I can tell in my energy levels.
14:19
Today I want to share some exciting
14:21
news because Pod just got an upgrade.
14:24
8 Sleep has launched their newest generation
14:26
of the Pod, the Pod 4 Ultra.
14:28
It cools, it heats and now it
14:30
elevates automatically. It also clinically is proven
14:32
to give you up to one hour
14:34
more of quality sleep every night which
14:37
is absolutely incredible. Plus with Pod
14:39
4 Ultra you can leave your wearables on
14:41
the nightstand. It is integrated into the Pod.
14:43
You can track your sleep time, sleep phases,
14:46
HRV and heart rate with 99% accuracy. You
14:50
can just easily add it onto any bed.
14:53
I feel like this has been such a life
14:55
changer for us. We recommend it to all our
14:57
friends and I highly recommend you guys check it
14:59
out too. Head to 8sleep.com and use code POW
15:02
to get $350 off Pod 4 Ultra. They currently
15:04
ship to
15:08
the United States, Canada, United Kingdom,
15:10
Europe and Australia. Now
15:20
I think we're going to hop into
15:22
some voice messages. I can't wait to
15:24
hear what you guys have been leaving.
15:26
Hello my girls. Happy day.
15:28
My question for you is
15:30
about skincare. I'm
15:33
wondering what you do for
15:35
your body's skincare. I'm obviously pretty up on my
15:37
skincare for my face but I'm looking to share
15:39
love with my body and I feel like the
15:41
problem I'm having is that there's a lot more
15:43
surface to cover. So I'm wondering
15:46
what oils do you use? Creams do
15:48
you use? What routines
15:50
are we doing? Are we doing
15:52
like dry scrubbing and fully eating? If so,
15:55
how often? Do we body
15:57
contour? Are we oiling and
15:59
then creaming? give me the goods,
16:01
I'm here for all of the advice. Is
16:03
it like at night before we go
16:06
to bed? Every night we're doing it.
16:09
What areas do you find need more love? Give
16:11
me all the advice because I'm looking to give
16:13
my skin care my body a little
16:15
bit of attention and I'm
16:17
here for all the tips. Thanks for girls. If you
16:19
have a great week, love the podcast and everything you're
16:21
doing and I'll talk soon. Bye. Hi
16:25
Lily, thank you for the question. So I
16:27
have personally
16:29
never struggled with body acne and I'm not
16:31
sure if you have, I think you're just
16:33
saying you want to like put more love
16:35
and care into it. I've never had a
16:37
body acne, only face acne, which is crazy.
16:39
But I
16:42
understand the struggle because I was really
16:44
having a hard time finding products that
16:46
weren't clogging my pores and
16:48
I could take care of my body skin. So in
16:50
the shower, I actually use Zuma
16:52
Body Wash. It is an all
16:54
organic, all natural, no
16:57
artificial colors or scents
17:00
and it is a body wash that
17:02
I use and it's like perfect non-pore
17:05
clogging. Really, really love it. In
17:07
terms of lotion, I've been loving the
17:10
Clear Stem Body Lotion. It's very moisturizing.
17:12
It's like thin and soaks in quickly.
17:14
I use that every single
17:16
time I shower. Because I spray tan
17:18
so frequently, I want to keep my
17:20
skin moisturized and it helps the tan
17:22
last longer. I don't
17:25
do any oils or anything crazy just
17:27
because of how sensitive my face skin
17:29
is and I want to be really
17:32
cognizant of that. My husband Greg uses
17:34
a tallow all over his body every
17:36
night, which I'm so happy for
17:39
him. It looks amazing. He's glowing, but I get
17:41
frustrated because I want to lay on him and
17:43
I'm like, your tallow is getting in my
17:45
face pores. So do
17:48
that. Do with that what you will. Hi
17:52
Mari and maybe Cee. This
17:54
is Emily. I am a fellow
17:57
Austinite and just wanted to say I love that
17:59
you guys. are here now and exploring
18:01
the city. It's been just so much fun
18:03
to watch as a fellow transplant. Anyways,
18:06
I wanted to ask, I'm starting
18:09
to introduce more meat into
18:11
my diet, potentially a more carnivore
18:13
based lifestyle, and just kind of
18:15
getting started with it. So, wanted
18:18
to ask in your move to
18:20
Texas what it's been like to
18:22
incorporate that into your routine, what
18:24
resources you have found
18:26
most beneficial for access to
18:28
things like beef or any
18:31
recommendations and just overall things that
18:33
you have noticed since you've made
18:35
that a priority in your
18:37
nutrition plan. I would love
18:39
to hear any updates and any thoughts on just
18:42
kind of how that practice works best for you.
18:45
Love you guys. Aww,
18:47
thanks Emily. Okay, so
18:49
meat. Let's talk meat. Before
18:53
my true healing
18:55
journey I always prioritized
18:57
protein, but I was
19:00
definitely getting most of my protein from
19:02
like chicken, I was eating salmon every
19:04
day, tuna every day, and then after
19:06
discovering that I had heavy
19:09
metals in my system, which I think many,
19:11
many, many of us do, I
19:14
kind of tried to limit the amount
19:16
of fish I was eating. I eat
19:18
wild caught salmon probably one
19:20
to two times a week, and
19:22
then other than that I mostly eat
19:24
grass-fed pasture-raised red
19:27
meat, whether it be ground beef,
19:30
filet, ribeye, sirloin,
19:35
lamb chops sometimes kind
19:37
of depends. I
19:40
personally feel absolutely incredible eating red meat.
19:42
I feel like my energy levels are
19:44
fantastic. I feel satiated, I feel full,
19:46
I feel strong. I am quite
19:49
tall so I have to
19:52
eat a good amount of protein. It's
19:54
recommended you eat a gram per pound of lean
19:56
body mass. I think for us women, it's a
19:58
great way to do it. it's really important to
20:00
eat a lot of protein at the beginning
20:03
of the day. I've even heard that it's
20:05
recommended to eat 40 grams of protein for
20:07
breakfast because you're starting on the right
20:09
foot. And I don't know
20:11
the scientific language around this, but overnight,
20:13
your body is basically going through protein
20:15
synthesis and you want to like reload
20:17
your body with protein. So it's
20:19
a big priority for me. In
20:22
terms of resources, I always recommend that you
20:24
guys go to your local farmer's market, look
20:26
for that grass fed meat. You
20:29
really want to be careful about that
20:31
because the grain that they feed cows
20:33
in America is really, really concerning and
20:35
you don't want to be consuming meat that's
20:37
been eating that inflammatory
20:40
type diet. So
20:42
grass fed, I love, my
20:45
husband and I order from white
20:47
oak pastures all the time.
20:49
We get big boxes of frozen meat
20:51
and whenever we want something, we just
20:53
defrost it. For example, I had the,
20:55
they call it tips and tails, but
20:57
it's just like tips of sirloin for
20:59
breakfast this morning. They have
21:02
amazing filet, amazing options. We also
21:04
love Maui Nui venison. They
21:07
sponsor the show, but we ordered
21:09
it before that regardless because it
21:11
is like the highest quality venison
21:13
you can get. It's harvested in
21:15
Hawaii, naturally. So
21:18
highly recommend you guys check that out as well. Also
21:21
like meat is amazing for
21:24
hormones. So many benefits. If you want to
21:26
listen to my episode with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon,
21:28
she speaks a ton about that. Hi,
21:32
Mari. I enjoy listening
21:34
to your podcast so, so much. Um,
21:37
I was just curious how
21:39
you're preparing for, I guess,
21:41
mentally, especially the changes that
21:43
your body goes through during
21:45
pregnancy. I had a baby
21:48
a year and a half ago and prior
21:50
to that, I had lost like 70 pounds.
21:53
And then when I got pregnant, I
21:55
gained like 70 pounds. Um,
21:57
and a year and a half later I've lost
21:59
mostly. that except the tongue but my
22:01
body's definitely changed so just curious how
22:04
you're preparing to kind of navigate the
22:07
changes that come with pregnancy if
22:09
at all. Thank you, love you, bye. Hi
22:12
Katie, thank you for the question. I have to
22:16
be so honest like I don't
22:18
think that I've mentally gone there
22:20
yet because I'm just so excited and
22:23
ready to be pregnant
22:25
like I think I'm so focused on actually
22:27
getting there now that I'm not even
22:30
really thinking about the weight gain. I mean
22:32
I feel so
22:34
mentally different than I did in the past when
22:36
I gained a lot of weight. I feel so
22:38
much healthier and stronger mentally and physically and I
22:40
feel like I will be
22:42
so grateful to be pregnant that I can't imagine
22:45
that I'll be too concerned
22:47
but that's obviously naive. I don't even know
22:49
what I'm getting myself into. I feel like
22:52
I have a great support system around me
22:54
and the excitement will be so prevalent
22:57
that the body part
22:59
won't affect me as much but
23:01
we'll see like maybe I'll have
23:04
to rediscover that
23:06
like side of myself where
23:09
I need to tap into the mental strength
23:11
again to get through it but
23:13
I will obviously bring you guys along the journey
23:15
and keep you updated. I am
23:18
quite passionate about diet
23:21
during pregnancy. I've heard a lot
23:23
of advice in terms of
23:25
eating like salmon roe for the
23:27
baby's brain development and blueberries like
23:29
I'm really obsessed with that kind
23:31
of thing and optimizing nutrition in
23:33
order to help the fetus so
23:35
we'll keep you guys updated on
23:38
that as well. I
23:47
am obsessed with wild grain. I make
23:50
croissants from my husband Greg every single
23:52
weekend and it's so so easy. We
23:54
actually just had his parents visit and
23:56
I made sourdough. I also made the
23:59
croissants and and they just come out
24:01
so fluffy and gorgeous and like so
24:03
good. Plus I love the fact that
24:05
the ingredients are like whole good ingredients,
24:07
like real butter, real flour. Our personal
24:09
favorite has to be croissants. It takes
24:12
20 minutes, you just pop it in
24:14
the oven and they come out super
24:16
fresh. If you're hosting, this is the
24:18
ultimate hack. Everyone will think you like
24:20
handmade these croissants and they just come
24:22
out so perfect. I put them in
24:24
a little basket, put them on
24:26
the table and everyone's happy. Wild
24:28
grain is the first ever baked from
24:30
frozen subscription box for sourdough breads,
24:32
fresh pastas and artisanal pastries. Every
24:35
item baked from frozen in 25 minutes
24:37
or less, no thawing required. And you
24:39
can now fully customize your wild grain
24:41
box. So you can choose from any
24:43
combination of breads, pastas and pastries. You
24:45
can even build a box of only
24:47
breads, only pastas or only
24:49
pastries if you'd like. I
24:51
also recommend trying the cookies, they are
24:53
absolutely insane. For a limited time,
24:55
you can get $30 off the first box plus
24:58
free croissants in every box. When
25:01
you go to wildgrain.com/powe to
25:04
start your subscription, you heard
25:06
me, free croissants in every
25:08
box and $30 off your
25:10
first box. When you go
25:13
to wildgrain.com/powe, that's wildgrain.com/powe or
25:15
you can use promo code
25:17
powe at checkout. Hi,
25:28
I've been loving your podcast. I
25:30
had a question, you talked about
25:33
mushrooms in chocolate and
25:36
fun, active mushrooms. I'm really starting to
25:38
see that. I don't
25:40
tolerate alcohol as much anymore. So I was wondering
25:42
about that. I don't know if you mentioned it
25:44
anywhere or if there's a link. Thank
25:47
you. So
25:50
if you guys didn't hear, in
25:52
a couple of solo episodes ago, I
25:54
told a story about my house manager
25:57
accidentally taking our mushroom chocolate.
26:00
because she thought it was real chocolate, which was one
26:02
of the funniest things that's ever happened. But
26:04
then after that, I got tons
26:07
of messages asking me for the
26:09
mushroom company. And I
26:12
don't know if legally
26:14
I should say, I don't want
26:17
to like be a drug dealer, you know what I mean? I don't
26:19
want to be like a secondhand drug dealer. But if
26:22
you just do a little bit of research, guys,
26:24
you will find it like it has a big
26:26
Instagram page, it's out of Canada. That's all I'll
26:28
say. And you know,
26:32
I was like really hesitant to tell the story because I was like,
26:34
Oh my god, like this is kind of like a vulnerable thing to
26:36
share that I partake in. But
26:41
I mean, I've already said I might
26:43
as well just continue. At this point,
26:45
like I feel like a lot of
26:47
people my age are trying micro dosing
26:49
or the mushroom chocolate. It's
26:52
such a depending
26:54
on the type you get, I
26:57
find that I laugh more, I get
26:59
more childlike. I am in the moment
27:01
like I completely forget about my phone.
27:04
It like encourages play and
27:06
socializing and connection. And I
27:09
have no hangover from it. I
27:11
will say I don't sleep as well. And
27:13
I'm being careful about it because I'm trying
27:15
to conceive. So I'm like limiting
27:18
the amount that I'm doing for sure, like
27:20
if any, but I personally think
27:22
it's a great alternative. I don't
27:26
want to get in trouble there. So that's where I'll leave it. Hey,
27:29
Mari, my name is Molly. I'm from Minnesota. I've
27:31
been following you since 2018, starting
27:33
with your PDF
27:36
gym guides. Just
27:38
want to say congratulations on your
27:41
crazy journey of life and success
27:43
in your business. But I have
27:45
two questions regarding social media and kind
27:49
of your relationship with it. Now, if
27:52
you feel that if you
27:55
could go back in time, would you still
27:57
make the decision to have your success
28:00
to be built off social media and do you
28:03
think it would be possible without social media? And
28:06
then my second question is with
28:08
regards to you having
28:10
kids in the future how you're gonna
28:12
handle their relationship and exposure
28:14
to social media and
28:17
with social media and if you feel that
28:21
You would not want them to have careers based
28:23
off social media Etc and
28:25
how you're gonna handle that. Thanks for all you do
28:29
Whoa Thank You Molly. Oh my
28:31
god. That's a lot to think about So
28:34
yeah, it's like a discussion that I've had a
28:36
bunch of times with Greg about our kids But
28:38
I'll start with myself. I
28:40
don't regret Starting
28:42
a business on social media. I just think
28:44
that's the reality of The
28:47
day and age we're in I think any successful
28:49
company kind of needs to have a social media
28:51
presence Community, it's just
28:53
the way businesses run now and I feel
28:55
really grateful That
28:59
I have the community I have here on
29:01
the podcast on Instagram It
29:03
was a very magical experience and I feel like I
29:05
got first-hand knowledge
29:08
about my customer through speaking to them on
29:10
social media and seeing what they were responding
29:12
to and I think it was honestly,
29:16
like a really Fantastic way
29:18
of starting a company rather than going into it.
29:20
Like I just want to
29:22
make a bunch of money It wasn't that it was like
29:24
I'm connected with these people who can relate to me and
29:26
I relate to them and we are Both
29:29
wanting a product that I want
29:31
to make so I don't regret
29:33
it I just think
29:36
as I evolve and mature
29:38
my relationship is changing in terms of
29:40
like having boundaries
29:42
and Prioritizing
29:44
my mental health a bit more. I think
29:47
there's seasons for everything. I think for many
29:49
years I was in a season of like
29:52
hustle and grind and building my dream life
29:54
And I think that was needed then and
29:56
I'm not as much in that moment now
29:59
so while social media is such,
30:02
such a powerful tool and I've made amazing
30:04
connections through it. Like
30:06
deleting it on the weekend has been the most fantastic
30:08
thing for me because I feel like I just
30:11
have the self-awareness that I fall
30:13
into comparison or negative
30:16
thinking oftentimes when I'm on
30:18
social media. So it's
30:21
more of a personal relationship than a business one.
30:23
In terms of kids, I
30:27
take a lot of advice or I
30:29
look at the way my
30:31
friends who are parents parent. And
30:34
I'm just thinking of my friend
30:36
Camille here in Austin and her kids
30:38
are not on social media and they're
30:40
like pre-teens I think. And
30:43
I think if
30:45
you can keep them off for as long
30:47
as possible that's helpful when their brains are
30:49
developing and they're you know really sensitive to
30:51
comparison and things like that. Like I cannot
30:53
imagine as a young girl if I had
30:55
been on social media that would have been
30:58
really, really hard. So I feel like
31:00
as long as I can keep them off I will. But
31:02
at the same time teaching
31:05
them about the power of it
31:07
and I feel like something
31:09
that's helped me with social media is like really
31:11
treating it as a business rather than my whole
31:13
life and as a job.
31:15
And I think it
31:18
would be a disservice to not teach
31:20
them about it and keep them completely
31:22
hidden from it because the reality is
31:24
that's our world and that's how things
31:27
work now. So I'd rather come
31:30
from it from like an educational
31:32
standpoint but we shall see. You
31:34
know I am just
31:37
sort of like observing right now and seeing like
31:39
what feels good to me. Hey guys
31:44
it's Sam. I have a question
31:47
about making new friends that align
31:49
with your new goals. So over
31:52
the past few years I've had some
31:54
health issues and now I'm trying to
31:56
avoid drinking when going out and really
31:58
just be more mindful when I'm going
32:01
out with friends. And I'm
32:03
curious how you guys recommend making
32:06
new friends that align with your new goals. A
32:08
lot of my old friends unfortunately still want to
32:10
go out and drink and party till late
32:12
at night and that's not really what
32:14
I want to do anymore. So just
32:16
wondering how you would make
32:19
friends when you're looking for kind of a
32:21
new life and a new better life. Thank
32:23
you. Hi Sam,
32:26
great great question. I think a lot of
32:28
people will relate to this. Just
32:30
looking back at my life in 2017 I
32:32
definitely went through a period of time where
32:36
you know I had to let go of a
32:38
lot of friendships and also embrace
32:40
being alone. I think that's a kind
32:42
of important piece here. It's like friendship
32:45
takes time especially as adults
32:47
and embracing like being
32:50
comfortable with your relationship with yourself and just
32:52
knowing that it's for the greater good. I'm
32:54
not saying to completely cut your friends out
32:57
necessarily but like I got
32:59
way more comfortable being independent and alone because I
33:01
was like you know currently
33:03
not many of my friends want
33:05
to do the things I'm doing so I need
33:07
to embrace doing them by myself and learning to
33:10
clap for myself and celebrate the moments that I
33:12
feel proud of. I also think
33:17
just being honest and saying hey like this
33:19
is where I'm at for my
33:21
mental health and my well-being like I can't go out
33:23
and drink anymore but if you would want to go
33:25
on a walk with me I would love that or
33:27
if you would want to go get coffee with me I
33:29
would love that or if you want to come over
33:31
and we can cook together I would love that. I
33:34
wish I had been maybe a little more vocal
33:36
about that and express myself in that way and
33:39
I think also that time you
33:42
spend alone curating exactly
33:44
what your life what you want your
33:46
life to look like you have a
33:48
better understanding of what you want so
33:50
when you do make those friends whether
33:52
it's like at the gym or at
33:54
a coffee shop in the places where
33:57
you find those like-minded individuals you
33:59
already know What you enjoy and what you're
34:01
looking. For in terms of value, see, you
34:03
can show up as a version of you. I
34:06
also think this far more like events happening
34:08
now like we were just that. an event
34:11
here in Austin for our friends that was
34:13
like a sickness event. Tons of like minded
34:15
girls on kind of putting yourself out there
34:17
and showing up on community walks or us
34:20
in a d humming someone says in your
34:22
area that into health and fitness I I
34:24
do think a lot of people who are
34:26
in health and fitness one to connect on
34:29
that level. Like every time I meet a
34:31
girl who's down to go to a workout
34:33
with me I get so excited. So. Put.
34:36
Yourself out there. Stay. True to
34:38
you and don't be afraid. To
34:40
express your values. I
34:43
think with that, we're going to end
34:45
this episode here. I really hope you
34:47
guys enjoyed it. Just a reminder, please
34:50
please please subscribe or follow as you
34:52
haven't yet. So many have you listened,
34:54
but you're not necessarily subscribed which means
34:56
you will not get a notification every
34:59
time I post. And
35:01
it really helps us continue to grow the
35:03

35:05
is me me up. Silly World's i love
35:07
you Guys so Much States again. I'll put
