Heart Work Being Anchored to

0:07

Allah. In this series

0:10

we discuss a very well-known and very

0:12

important hadith narration from the Prophet SallAllahu

0:14

Alaihi Wasallam in which he

0:16

gives essential life advices to Abdullah

0:18

Ibn Abbas radiAllahu Anh. If

0:21

you've benefited from the podcast that we put out and the work

0:40

rahmatullahi wa barakatullah.

0:43

As-salamu alaykum, as-salamu alaykum,

0:45

musmilla, musmilla wa alhamdulillah

0:47

wa salat wa salam

0:49

wa adda rasulillah wa

0:52

ala alihi wa as-sahabi alayhi

0:54

wa barakatullah. Welcome home everybody. It's good

0:56

to see you alhamdulillah. Welcome back, welcome

0:58

back. We

1:01

are, first I wanted to

1:03

begin by asking

1:06

for Duraaz. There

1:08

was a brother, Walid, who tragically

1:11

passed away, Subhanallah, in Nillah. He

1:13

went and

1:16

he left behind his wife and children, Subhanallah. So please

1:18

make Duraaz for him. He's

1:20

somebody that was beloved to many

1:23

in the Muslim community. So we make Duraaz

1:25

for him, of course, and as well as

1:27

anybody else in this community or abroad who's

1:30

watching with any illness or

1:32

sickness in their family or themselves, may Allah give them

1:34

Shifat. One of our

1:36

community members last week, she came here on

1:38

Monday and then she came and asked me

1:41

to, her and her husband came and they were like,

1:43

can we chat about something? And

1:45

last week, of course, we're kind of in the section on the

1:47

hadith about divine decree and

1:50

accepting the decree of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la. And

1:54

she said, you know, I want to talk to you about something.

1:56

So then on Tuesday, she

1:58

came with her husband and said that that she has thyroid

2:00

cancer and she's going to have surgery on Wednesday.

2:04

And then so she had surgery last Wednesday, so

2:06

we make dua for her. That Allah gives her,

2:08

she says, sha Allah and makes the procedure successful.

2:11

So anybody here that has that, even if I don't

2:13

know the story personally or but the name, Allah

2:15

knows and that's all we need to know in order

2:18

to have confidence in our duaas as

2:20

well as if anyone lost anybody. Of course we make

2:22

dua constantly for the suffering of the ummah, but we

2:24

also make dua for those that have

2:26

lost and their loved ones locally. May Allah

2:28

tell you how to make it easy for them. So

2:31

we are, I said this last week,

2:33

we're kind of rounding the corner towards the end of the hadith.

2:36

And the Prophet SAW, he began the

2:39

hadith if you notice with

2:41

a lot of actions

2:44

and now he's ending the hadith with a lot

2:46

of reactions. And so in

2:48

the beginning of the hadith, he's instructing, abdullab

2:51

and abbas, you know, take care

2:53

of your relationship with Allah. Make sure that you

2:56

honor your relationship with Allah. Make sure that you do this, make

2:58

sure that you do this. And those

3:00

are all things that are responsible,

3:02

like the responsibility of the

3:04

person to do them, things that you have to do.

3:08

And then the second part of the hadith, instead

3:10

of abdullab and abbas being

3:14

told to do something, now he's being

3:16

told how to interpret things and

3:18

how to understand things. And

3:21

part of the wisdom in this, you

3:23

know, the two sides of this is

3:25

that the Prophet SAW is teaching

3:27

us, teaching him and teaching us, that

3:30

in order for a person to understand

3:33

the complexities and the secrets of things

3:35

like destiny and why

3:37

things happen, you first have to

3:39

become somebody that has invested into your relationship with

3:41

Allah. So he began by

3:43

telling him, now abbas, protect your

3:46

relationship with Allah, worship Allah, worship,

3:48

don't forget Allah, don't abandon Allah,

3:50

etc., etc. And then the second

3:52

part of the hadith is, when things

3:55

happen, here's how you understand them. Many

3:57

of us want to understand why things

3:59

are happening. but we haven't protected

4:01

that relationship. And so

4:03

it's kind of like wondering why a friend

4:06

would do something or say something, but if you're

4:08

not close with them, then you would never understand.

4:11

And so when Allah ta'ala ordains or sends

4:13

something in our life, the

4:15

closer you are to begin with, the

4:18

easier and the smoother it is for a person to be

4:20

able to understand and to process it. And

4:22

we'll talk tonight about having contentment, being

4:25

content with what Allah ta'ala decreed, or at

4:27

least being patient with it. So

4:29

we're in the second part of the hadith now. How

4:32

to understand, how to let things land in

4:34

our life, you know, the plane that lands,

4:37

through all the turbulence of the landing, how

4:39

do we let that plane land in our life and

4:41

how do we accept those things? And

4:44

so we'll start with some quotes.

4:46

Tonight there's going to be a lot of stories and a

4:48

lot of quotes, and each one is going to have its

4:50

own special advice on how to

4:52

handle or how to become better when it comes

4:55

to this relationship

4:57

with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. And

4:59

so the Prophet A'isaatul Suram,

5:02

he gives us a really important promise

5:06

and a really important realization. He

5:08

says, innalikullih shayin

5:11

haqqaiqatan, that verily

5:14

every single thing has its

5:16

reality, every single thing has

5:18

its truth. And he says,

5:22

wa ma'abala raab dun haqqaiqata al-Iman,

5:25

ha'ta ya'alama, innama

5:27

al-Sawabahu la-myakun. And

5:30

he says that the believer will

5:32

never accomplish this reality of

5:35

who they are, you'll never truly be

5:37

a believer, until you

5:39

accomplish the goal of knowing

5:42

something. What is

5:44

that thing that he says, knowing that whatever has befallen you,

5:51

whatever has happened to you, whatever

5:53

has been

5:55

written in your book, that

5:58

it would never ever accomplish this reality. have missed you.

6:02

It would never have missed you. And

6:04

whatever has missed you would never ever

6:06

have reached you. So

6:13

the Prophet SAW here is giving this general

6:16

grand advice and he's saying that part of

6:18

a person coming to reality with the belief

6:20

that they say they have, they claim, is

6:23

to understand a few different things. And one

6:25

of those things ultimately is to

6:27

be comfortable with the reality that

6:29

some things will happen and some things will not. And

6:32

this is kind of the preface of the

6:34

end that the Prophet SAW is giving to

6:36

Ibn Abbas. Now how

6:39

does a person, how do they allow

6:42

themselves to get comfortable with dealing with

6:45

realities that they don't like? Right?

6:48

Because all of us, we know

6:50

that we like things when it happens in our

6:52

favor. If something good happens, we

6:54

celebrate, right? If you were to

6:56

like walk outside, right, there was actually

6:58

a person who they ordered a

7:00

drink and then something happened and their payment didn't go

7:02

through. So they're like, I'd like to pay. And

7:05

then, you know, one of the workers behind the counter was like, no, no,

7:07

no, it's okay. Don't worry about it. Right? Allah took care of you tonight.

7:11

And everyone here kind of

7:13

feels, say, MashaAllah, don't let the nuzr set in,

7:15

right? Okay. Nobody

7:19

protests when a good thing happens.

7:22

If Allah gives you something, if Allah ordains for

7:24

you something in your life that you like, it's

7:26

sweet, it's nice. Nobody protests and is

7:28

like, how? Why did this happen?

7:31

I don't deserve this. People accept it.

7:33

We're cool with it, right? But

7:35

when it comes to things that we don't like, we

7:37

all of a sudden now become very, very

7:40

complex and we become very,

7:43

very acute in our criticism of

7:45

why and how could this have ever happened to

7:47

me? So the next part of

7:49

this book that Ibn Rajab he quotes

7:53

is the part of the hadith where the Prophet SAW says, that

8:00

know that having patience with

8:02

something that you hate in

8:06

that moment there is so much goodness

8:08

for you, you can't even understand it.

8:12

Having patience with something that you

8:14

absolutely hate, not uncomfortable, not inconvenient,

8:16

no, you hate it. That

8:19

in that, fihi

8:21

yichaydan kasiran, in that there is

8:23

so much benefit. And

8:25

so he quotes and he begins

8:27

the chapter by saying that

8:31

in the narration of Umar, one

8:33

of the students of

8:36

Ibn Abbas, he said that

8:39

if you can, okay so now this

8:42

is going to be a little bit complex but I want us all to stick here. If

8:44

you can, when something bad happens

8:47

to you, the

8:49

advice is carry on doing good

8:51

things and living your life with contentment

8:54

for Allah SWT if you can. So

8:57

let's say for example you're on your way to the masjid, you

8:59

get a flat tire, okay?

9:02

You change the tire, you put the spare on and

9:04

now you decide, like do I go to

9:06

the masjid, I already missed the prayer, I'm

9:08

kind of upset, I'm kind of frustrated,

9:11

or do I just go back home, right?

9:13

Take the L, go back to my house. So

9:15

in this moment he's saying look, what's

9:18

best without a doubt is

9:20

no matter what befalls you, you keep

9:22

going. Your intention is

9:24

made and you keep going and

9:27

the most beautiful side of it is you keep

9:29

going as if nothing bad happened. So

9:31

you know sometimes like we're doing something good and

9:34

we get to that point where we do the good and

9:36

somebody says something and we tell them about how difficult it

9:38

was to do it. We're

9:40

like oh it was so hard, you know on the way here

9:42

I was running late and da da da da da, oh

9:45

you brought your kids to Jumwa, yeah man, but

9:47

man they are horrible. I'm like whoa

9:49

okay, I hate bringing them here, blah blah blah blah

9:52

blah. It's like okay well

9:54

you know why are you putting so much, you

9:57

know it's like taking some time. salt

10:00

and putting it in the tea. Right?

10:02

Like you have something nice you can enjoy it. Why are you

10:04

ruining it? Right? And

10:06

so part of what he's saying here

10:09

is when something good, when you're doing

10:11

something virtuous, a good deed, and something

10:13

bad happens, the highest level of faith is

10:15

that you carry forward with contentment. Okay?

10:18

And you have this example, Ya'quv

10:20

Al-Isaram, right? In the in the

10:22

story of Sayyidina Yusuf Al-Isaram, he's not

10:25

complaining but he's saying I'm gonna be patiently, I'm

10:27

gonna be beautiful with my patience. I'm gonna make

10:30

sure that I'm not, you

10:32

know, sour. If anyone that comes

10:34

and talks to me I'm gonna complain, complain, complain. And

10:37

SubhanAllah what's interesting and I've noticed this and

10:39

scholars actually write this, they say that the

10:41

people that have the most to complain about,

10:45

when they have iman, they

10:47

tend to not complain at all. And

10:49

the people that have the least to complain about,

10:51

if they don't have iman, they complain all the

10:53

time. So iman, faith

10:56

is the one thing that distinguishes between a person

10:58

who complains and doesn't. It's not what you have.

11:00

Don't ever think for a moment that if I

11:02

had more I would complain less. Think

11:05

if my faith were stronger I would complain less

11:07

no matter what I had. Having

11:09

and not having is irrelevant. If my iman

11:11

were strong, if I were close to Allah,

11:13

I actually wouldn't even consider what I have

11:15

and don't have. I would be so overwhelmed

11:17

with gratitude that I wouldn't have time to

11:19

complain. So Umar he

11:22

says, he's or the student of not bath, I'm

11:24

sorry, Umar he narrates

11:26

it. Carry on doing deeds for

11:28

Allah with satisfaction and

11:30

certainty. Don't ever let anything push

11:32

you off your course. Don't

11:34

ever let anything bump you off of the path

11:37

that you're taking. He says

11:39

however, and this is where I love

11:42

SubhanAllah, Islam is so incredible, so

11:44

beautiful. All of these practitioners of

11:46

Islam, they always gave the ideal

11:48

and then they would give you

11:50

a concession like the real.

11:53

Okay, it's not always possible for

11:55

a person to celebrate the

11:57

trials in their life. You know we read story we're

11:59

gonna to read some stories today and you're going to

12:01

hear them and you're going to be like, that is

12:04

so not possible for me. There's

12:06

a lady who fell down and broke her hip and she started

12:08

smiling. They're so, why are you smiling? She said, because Allah is

12:10

going to give me a better hip in Jannah. You

12:13

hear that and you're like, all

12:15

right, but look, for some people, that's

12:17

their reality. And we thought these

12:20

stories were fake until we saw the videos from Gaza

12:22

Subhanallah, where they're telling their deceased

12:25

family members, give Salaam to the Prophet SallAllahu Alayhi

12:27

Wasallam for me. Right. So we're

12:29

seeing this real life superheroes, they

12:31

exist, but it's

12:33

not an obligation to celebrate trials.

12:35

Allah never made an obligation. What

12:38

he did make an obligation is,

12:40

and this is the foundation

12:42

is, you have to at least be patient. So

12:45

the narration says, if you can carry

12:47

on with satisfaction with Allah when you're

12:49

being tested, beautiful. But if you can't,

12:52

then be patient. Why? He

12:55

says, and he quotes the narration

12:57

in the fisabri alaamat aqrahu khainan

12:59

kasiran. When you can bear patiently

13:01

with something you hate, there is

13:03

so much good in that. Okay.

13:06

But first, let's talk a little bit about

13:09

why it's important to try to have contentment with

13:11

Allah. And it's possible. Let

13:13

me give you a statement that my teacher taught

13:15

me. He said, it is entirely possible that

13:18

a person have contentment with Allah while they

13:20

dislike what Allah sent to them. It's

13:23

entirely possible. You can be

13:26

happy, right? If a person's on a sports

13:28

team, they can hate running

13:30

sprints, but love their coach, right?

13:33

They can hate it. If you're getting

13:35

personal training, you can love the effect

13:37

of the exercise while hating your trainer.

13:41

Or you can hate the exercise while loving your trainer, or you

13:43

can hate everything, go home and have ice cream, right? You

13:46

can just decide to take the L on that, right? Right?

13:48

They say round is a shape. So what

13:52

does it mean for a person then to develop

13:54

this contentment? And I want us again to be

13:56

complex about this. Don't be simple about it. Think

13:59

deeply about it. It's not as

14:01

simple as saying, okay, we hate or we love when

14:03

we're in pain. No, that's not it's not how this

14:05

works it's having a

14:07

deeper level of analysis of what's happening

14:09

and Judging between the two

14:11

and saying you know what despite the pain.

14:13

I'm content with Allah. That's a

14:15

choice You guys ready for

14:17

this happiness is a choice

14:21

and I have my master's in mental health counseling I can back

14:23

this up with studies Happiness is

14:25

a choice we can choose to put

14:27

ourselves in situations where we are

14:29

content We can choose

14:31

that and we can choose

14:34

to be discontent in situations where everything around

14:36

us says you should be happy What's wrong

14:38

with you? So we're gonna go over

14:40

some of the stories inshaAllah. Okay now

14:42

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala He

14:44

actually shares something very interesting The

14:48

scholars say one of the one of the ways

14:50

here's step number one Okay, if you're taking notes

14:52

just write down number one step number

14:54

one To understand contentment

14:57

with Allah is to know that the

14:59

test is coming from him If

15:01

you know that the test is coming from him. It's

15:04

a lot easier for you to deal with the test Right

15:06

if somebody that you love is sending something

15:08

that you don't love You can

15:10

ignore what you don't love for the one that you love

15:13

and Allah mentions this in the Quran He

15:16

says lika'il a testu allah

15:18

mafatakum wa la ataf rahubi

15:20

maa atakum Allah ta'ala says

15:23

The reason why it's so important to remember that

15:25

Allah is sending these tests to you is

15:27

so that you don't become grieved you

15:30

don't become depressed over The

15:33

things that pass you by and

15:36

you don't become overly Excited

15:38

and out of control in celebration about the

15:40

things that do come to you So

15:44

when a person is experiencing life

15:46

Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday, right? Monday

15:48

Tuesday Wednesday Wow, okay Monday Tuesday Wednesday

15:50

Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday and repeat every

15:52

week, right? January February March going

15:55

through all these months One

15:58

of the things that keeps you anchored and grateful Grounded

16:00

as a person because some days

16:02

are good some are bad There

16:04

are ups and there are downs But one thing

16:06

that will always keep you anchored to Allah Subhanahu

16:08

wa ta'ala is knowing that all of this is

16:10

coming from him And so what happens your highs

16:13

are not too high and your lows are never

16:15

too low. You're balanced You're

16:17

in a middle position and

16:19

this is what the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam was saying

16:22

when he said ajabah li ambul

16:24

mu'min How amazing how

16:26

amazing is the life of a

16:28

believer? Every single thing that

16:30

a believer experiences he said it's so

16:32

peculiar in a good way And

16:35

he says and it's only this way

16:37

he clarified SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam He says

16:39

and it's only this way with believers

16:43

Because iman gives you that perspective which

16:45

is what when times are good you're

16:47

grateful and when times are bad you're

16:49

patient Every time you're with

16:51

Allah gratitude or patience to who? to

16:54

Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala So

16:56

step number one when you're going through anything in

16:59

life, especially bad moments remind yourself

17:01

this too is from Allah This

17:04

as well is from Allah and just

17:06

like yesterday Allah gave me something that

17:08

I was over the moon about I

17:10

was so happy And excited this

17:13

thing that is weighing me down

17:15

that is shackling me feels

17:17

like every step I take requires 10 more steps

17:20

Every decision I make requires 10 more

17:23

steps every statement. I say

17:25

requires 10 more explanations, right? There

17:27

are some days in which Allah just makes everything

17:30

so easy for you any parents in the room

17:33

Anyone have children one of my friends

17:35

said the best thing about parenting Okay, for those of

17:37

you who are inshaAllah want to have

17:39

kids who wants to eventually have a family raise your

17:41

hand May Allah tell I give you all what you

17:43

need inshaAllah in the best way possible I mean, let

17:46

me tell you the secret for parenting. Are you ready? I Usually

17:49

charge a lot of money for this but I'm giving you for free All

17:52

right, the maimins perked up. All right. Okay. I'm giving you for free

17:56

The secret to parenting is

17:58

you have to have one good reason really, really,

18:00

really, really important skill. You

18:02

have to be comfortable repeating yourself

18:04

over and over and over and

18:06

over again. Any

18:08

parents agree? Yes. Yes.

18:11

You have to repeat yourself a million times.

18:15

And then you have to swallow your pride when the kid says,

18:17

you never told me. Brush

18:20

your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth, brush your teeth,

18:22

brush your teeth, my tooth hurts. I told

18:24

you to brush your teeth. You never told me. What?

18:26

Right? What are you talking

18:29

about? Your toothbrush is still brand new, have you?

18:31

We could put that on Facebook Marketplace, right? So

18:35

the reality is when

18:37

a person has these skills and these abilities

18:39

to keep grounded and not to get too

18:41

high or too low, they're able

18:43

to make the right decision. But there

18:45

are days when those decisions are quicker and

18:47

days when they are slower. And if

18:49

you have a law in both of those days, you'll be okay. But

18:53

if you are by yourself on those days, you're

18:55

going to float so high on the good days that

18:57

when the bad one comes, you'll come crashing even faster

18:59

than you realize. Staying balanced

19:02

is the key. So number one, he says, is

19:04

that stay connected to Allah.

19:07

At Daha he explains this verse

19:09

and he says, Allah

19:11

gives us this consolation so

19:14

that we don't become, what's

19:17

the word, like dysfunctionally sad

19:20

by something that passes you by. You

19:23

know, there are some people that sit five, 10, 15, 20

19:25

years later and they say, oh,

19:28

if only, if only, if only,

19:31

if only I bought Bitcoin in 1993. Well,

19:33

let me tell you, if you bought Bitcoin in 1993,

19:36

you probably also had no friends in 1993 and that's,

19:38

I'm joking, I'm joking, right? That was

19:40

a little nerd joke, right? But the reality

19:42

is that statement, if only,

19:44

if only, right? Stocks, jobs, housing

19:47

market, da da da da da

19:49

da. All of these things will make

19:51

you so ungrateful to Allah. They

19:55

will make you so ungrateful to Allah. Abbas is feeling

19:57

it, right? Abbas, he gets

19:59

it. me all don't get it he gets it much Allah

20:01

okay so you will not be

20:03

grieved by things that pass you by then

20:05

he continues he says don't grieve

20:08

anything that didn't come to you don't

20:10

waste your time that person you wanted

20:13

to marry got married say

20:15

much Allah right be

20:17

happy for them don't say oh

20:19

you know I don't even know this and that don't

20:22

know the house that you wanted got bought

20:24

and got bought by somebody else don't sit

20:26

and talk about don't sit in men oh

20:29

you keep going on to the Zillow you keep torturing

20:31

yourself it's gone it's

20:34

not yours oh the breakfast table would have been

20:36

perfect there yeah their breakfast table is perfect there

20:38

all right you got

20:40

to figure something else out right your

20:42

breakfast tacos are gonna be eaten somewhere else okay

20:45

so he says do not grieve about something

20:47

because why it wasn't destined for you it

20:51

wasn't destined for you and you're burning your

20:53

energy you're burning all of that energy that

20:55

you could be spending on thanking Allah grieving

20:57

something that Allah saved you from he

21:00

says do not exalt anything that you have in this

21:02

world since it was never gonna be hidden from

21:04

you in the first place why

21:06

do you take so much pride in

21:08

the brand that you have why do you

21:11

take so much pride in the risk

21:13

that Allah gave you in the offer letter in

21:15

the title before your name why take so much

21:17

pride in that it was never going to miss

21:19

you in the first place if it

21:21

was never gonna miss you in the first place don't take credit

21:25

just say what alhamdulillah

21:27

when something that you wanted doesn't

21:30

come to you say alhamdulillah Allah

21:32

saved you when something you did

21:34

not necessarily even earn lands

21:36

on your lap say alhamdulillah right

21:39

so number one and this is why

21:41

the Prophet ﷺ when

21:43

he was teaching one of the companions

21:45

he said what ikhris ala malayun sahukah

21:48

do every good deed that you do

21:50

everything that you can that's going to

21:53

benefit you and then he

21:55

said wastirin billah wa la tajas then

21:58

seek all You will

22:00

aid from Allah and never ever feel

22:02

that you're incapable. Never

22:04

ever make yourself incapable, rather realize that Allah

22:07

ta'ala will carry you to that finish line.

22:10

Okay? And then he continues in

22:12

the rest of the narration and he says this. He

22:14

says, the

22:16

believer is somebody that says,

22:19

f'in assabaka shay'un. Salat

22:21

a'kul, lau inni f'al

22:24

tukhada. He says, if something

22:26

happens to you, never say, if only I

22:28

did this, if only I did that. Walakin

22:31

kul, adar allaha ma

22:33

shay'afat. That Allah

22:35

ta'ala did whatever he willed. F'inna

22:38

lau tustahu amel

22:41

al shay'atin. Because the word

22:43

lau opens the actions

22:45

and the work of shay'afan. As

22:48

soon as you say, what if, shay'afan has

22:50

his playground. Has his

22:52

blank canvas. He can take you

22:55

to places and realities, not realities,

22:57

fantasies that you will be

22:59

so, you will almost become

23:01

upset. You know, there's those memes that are so funny

23:03

where it's like, you know,

23:05

the wife woke up and hit the husband because she had a

23:08

dream they got in an argument. Right?

23:10

Okay. Some of the sisters are upset. The husband woke

23:12

up and got really hurt. Right? Okay.

23:14

You guys get the joke. All right? I'm not

23:17

trying to make any commentary. Relax. Okay? So

23:21

the point being is you can get upset at

23:23

something that never even existed. Never

23:25

even. We get depressed and resentful to Allah

23:28

about something that never even happened. Right?

23:31

Never even happened. May Allah ta'ala protect us.

23:33

Okay? So

23:35

then he says, another

23:37

scholar says, Ibn Abi-hatim, he

23:39

says that sa'id ibn Ujubair, he said that

23:42

the verse means, the value in this

23:44

verse, listen to the secret. These are the people that knew

23:46

it the best. Sa'id ibn Ujubair,

23:48

he's saying, I heard this verse for Sa'id. You know

23:50

what we were taught about this verse? It

23:52

means that remember that whatever you have and

23:55

don't have was not only written for you,

23:57

it was written before you ever existed. You

24:00

know some of us we get a little bit confused

24:02

with other anyone here get confused with destiny. What's

24:05

the point? How do we know? what

24:08

okay Allah knows everything but We

24:11

talked about it a little bit last week if

24:13

you're confused if you're which is fine No one's

24:15

ever gonna get it fully listen to last week's

24:17

session But you know what the value of God

24:19

it is when you submit to Allah is that

24:21

after something has happened? You don't have any sour

24:24

grapes You're not upset about it when you believe

24:26

in clouded and submit to other after it all

24:28

is done You say look I've done my best

24:31

It has had a man in Farooqah I've done

24:33

whatever I could and then at the end of

24:35

the day I submitted to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala

24:37

Okay, so shaytan is gonna try

24:40

to pry open that door Another

24:43

beautiful narration from an aside and a Saudi law

24:45

on okay So the first thing is be

24:47

convinced that Allah is in control submit

24:50

to that point Okay, the

24:52

next and this is kind of like

24:55

a second tip on how to become content with Allah try

24:58

to try to Restrain

25:01

yourself and hold yourself

25:04

from sitting and having conversations

25:06

or probing too deeply

25:08

into what could have happened Hold

25:12

yourself back Don't allow that

25:14

conversation to happen You know sometimes you can sit

25:16

with somebody and you both can have a conversation

25:18

again about something that is never going to come

25:21

It's never going to happen. What if? What

25:25

if? What if don't

25:27

do that? Don't entertain

25:29

it. N.S. He said

25:32

Khadim tu an Nabiya sallallahu alaihi wa sallamah asha

25:34

rasinim. I served the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam

25:37

for 10 years as a child He

25:39

was the servant of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

25:41

Okay, so I want you to imagine now He's

25:44

a he's a he's a child. He's a young

25:46

boy who's interning. He's taking care of whatever the

25:48

Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam He was a position

25:51

of honor But as with

25:53

any child Children can make

25:55

mistakes. There's actually another narration about N.S. Which is so

25:57

funny the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam sent him one

25:59

time time, hey go to the market, somebody has

26:01

something for me, can you please grab it for

26:03

me and bring it back inshaAllah. And

26:06

he goes okay I'll go do it. So he goes and

26:08

he says I went to the market and as I

26:10

was walking I saw some kids playing. So

26:13

you know what, I can get in

26:15

for a couple possessions right, playing

26:17

a game, I can jump in for a few minutes

26:19

and then I'll you know go over to the market and get what

26:21

I was told to get. So he goes

26:23

I played with those kids and I completely forgot

26:25

about the request that the Prophet SAW had given

26:27

me. And he goes all

26:30

of a sudden as I was in the middle

26:32

of the game, the heat of the moment, I gently felt a hand

26:34

on my shoulder. And

26:36

he said at that point I remembered exactly what I

26:38

was supposed to do. And

26:40

I turned around and if you're

26:42

you know from a certain

26:44

background, certain culture, you're expecting

26:46

to feel the hand and then feel the other

26:49

hand. Alright, you know

26:51

what I mean? Alright, I gotta be Isha'at,

26:53

I gotta be Isha'at in my, I

26:56

don't want the, anyways okay so. Hamdulillah.

27:00

Alright, so he's like looking behind him and

27:02

he said what did I see? He goes

27:05

I saw the face of the Prophet SAW

27:07

and he was smiling. And

27:10

he asked and he asked and he said and

27:12

it was so funny how the Prophet SAW takes all

27:14

the pressure off of him. You know there's

27:16

a couple ways you could say this right, you can handle the

27:18

situation. I told you, didn't I

27:20

tell you, right? You know what the

27:23

Prophet SAW says? He says did

27:25

I tell you or did I forget?

27:29

He's taking it on himself like the tone is almost

27:31

like wait remind me. And it's not sarcastic you know

27:33

you and I are like remind me real quick you

27:36

know. Pull up a chair, let's sit down.

27:38

You know the Prophet SAW, he's being kind, it's a

27:40

young boy. He says did I ask you, did I

27:42

ask you to guess something, do you remember or not?

27:45

And he says yes. So the Prophet SAW, oh you

27:47

remember okay, can you go do it for me? Can

27:50

you go do it for me? You know what else

27:53

is interesting? One of my teachers said this. He said

27:55

when you read this narration, the Prophet SAW was already

27:57

in the market. What could he have done? All the

27:59

real petty people. raise your voice. What could he have done? Could

28:02

have gotten himself. Thank you, petty people, right? He

28:05

could have gotten himself and then done what? On the

28:07

way back, been like, no,

28:09

no, no, you keep playing. I

28:12

got it. You know? You

28:14

know the days you, you know that one?

28:16

Yeah. Right? Hands this way. Not a

28:18

good sign. Hands this way, you're in trouble, right?

28:20

Okay. He could have done that. Gotten

28:22

what he wanted and then told him, no, you

28:25

know what? What you're doing is much more important.

28:27

Go ahead. Play for all day. I don't need

28:29

any help from you. And

28:32

that's where like, if you read the script, you're like,

28:34

wow, Prophet had to change our heart. But if

28:36

you understood the sarcasm that we use, you realize

28:38

that every letter is like a dagger to the

28:40

heart of a child. When

28:43

you speak like that to somebody, especially

28:45

children, especially children, it's like worse than

28:47

hitting them sometimes, SubhanAllah. I mean, hitting

28:49

is bad, but it's worse. It's like,

28:51

cause then they feel like such failures.

28:55

That sarcasm, that burning sarcasm. And I know a

28:57

lot of us, you guys ever dropped something? Go

28:59

ahead, break everything. You're

29:02

like, it was an accident. Are we not allowed to have

29:04

accidents? Right? But then when they dropped something, you're like, are

29:06

you okay? They're like, leave, get out of here. Like, all

29:08

right, relax. Right? So

29:10

SubhanAllah, the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam didn't do that. He

29:13

still gave him the honor of the task

29:16

because remember serving the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam was

29:18

his honor. So he

29:20

said what? Khadam tuin Nabi SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. Asha

29:23

Rasini. I served him for 10 years. Fama

29:26

khalali li shayin. Faa

29:29

al tuhu. He never said to me about

29:32

anything that I did. Lima

29:34

faa al taqada wa qada. He never, the

29:36

Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam in over 3,600 days,

29:38

never, you impressed by the math, never

29:43

said to his child servant that

29:45

was taking care of his needs.

29:48

Why did you do it that way? 10

29:51

years. He never

29:53

questioned the poor kid who definitely

29:55

made mistakes. We know children make

29:58

mistakes. He never, did.

30:00

SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. He

30:03

said, never

30:05

said to me, Walali Shaytan Lem

30:08

Ef'aluhu. And he never even asked

30:10

me, this is where again we're talking about contentment

30:12

right? He never even asked me about something that

30:15

I didn't do. Remember the story about playing in

30:17

the street? He never asked me, why

30:19

didn't you do what I told you to do? Rather,

30:22

okay, Waqana, he

30:25

said to me, Ida

30:28

ala amni ba'adu a'hlihi qala,

30:30

he said, if any of

30:32

his family ever said anything to

30:35

me about the job that I was doing, like

30:37

reminded me to be faster, do it better,

30:39

etc, etc, right? If any of them ever

30:42

said anything negative to me, Anas is saying

30:44

this, then he said, what? D'ahuhu

30:47

fala'u qudirah shay'un kana.

30:50

He says, leave him be. Allah

30:52

destined that it would happen exactly this way. So

30:56

if the kid drops something, instead

30:58

of saying, why'd you drop it? You say,

31:00

it's okay, Allah destined for this to happen. Do

31:03

you understand the kind of heart and mind

31:06

it must take for a person to have

31:08

that contentment in every situation? That

31:10

even the person that is signed up, registered

31:12

to take care of your responsibilities, things that

31:14

you need, and they have sworn that they

31:17

will do it. When they fail, you don't

31:20

even blame them. You say, you know what, why am

31:22

I upset? Allah never wanted them to do it for

31:24

me. Allah never wanted this to

31:26

happen. But instead, we get

31:28

so upset, we lose all faith. SubhanAllah. You

31:31

order something on Amazon, supposed to be here tomorrow, they email you

31:34

to say what? It's running late. You're like, I don't

31:36

know what to do anymore. Someone

31:39

called Jeff Bezos, you know, you tweet at him as

31:41

if he's gonna respond to you, 197 followers, right? And

31:43

SubhanAllah, it ends

31:46

up being this thing that dislodges us,

31:48

derails us. Imagine being a person that

31:50

every bad thing that happened, your

31:53

response was, hmm, I wonder,

31:56

I wonder why I love this in my life. I'm

31:58

very curious to see what's gonna happen. happen. Right?

32:01

This is how you develop contentment with

32:03

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Another

32:06

narration, Aisha, the wife of

32:08

the Prophet SAW, one time the

32:10

Prophet SAW came home and he asked his

32:12

wife what is there to eat? He was out all

32:14

day, said is there any food to eat? She

32:16

said no, Ya Rasulullah there's no food. You

32:19

know what he says? He says to

32:21

her okay if that's the case there's no food,

32:24

it's midday, I haven't eaten yet, I actually have not

32:26

had a single bite or a single sip of water.

32:28

He goes you know what I can do? I can

32:30

fast, let me fast. Can

32:32

you imagine not having

32:34

anything to eat in the desert

32:36

of Arabia, coming home, being the

32:38

messenger of Allah, not like us,

32:40

we work remotely, remote work, right?

32:44

We're sitting there in a coffee shop, we're sipping on

32:46

a latte, we're having 3,000 calories of milk a day

32:48

via coffee, and then we come home we're like what's

32:50

for food? They're like we don't know, you're like oh

32:52

what did you even do all day? No! The

32:54

Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam is doing literally the work of

32:56

God, right? Not the work of Google or Microsoft, the

32:59

work of God, and he

33:01

comes home and asks is there

33:03

anything to eat ever so gently and beautifully?

33:05

His wife responds honestly Ya Rasulullah there's nothing

33:07

to eat. He says oh I can fast

33:10

then. The only

33:12

way that a person can have that response

33:14

so ready on their tongue is their heart

33:16

is already so satisfied with Allah. Their

33:19

heart is already satisfied with Allah. You

33:22

know there are people that when bad things

33:24

happen to them and it costs them money,

33:26

the first thing they say is what? Allah

33:28

is taking care of my sins. I

33:31

had to pay a little bit of money to fix

33:33

this but maybe Allah just cleaned off all the fajars

33:35

that I missed. All of the

33:37

sins that I, everything I looked at with my

33:40

eyes, Allah is cleaning that off for me. That's

33:42

the first thing off their tongue. It doesn't happen

33:44

through force, you can't manually do that, it's an

33:46

automatic thing, it comes from the heart. May

33:49

Allah give us that trait. So He

33:52

says, when the Prophet Saul said whatever

33:54

when he was in his house, he

33:56

would always say whatever is destined will

33:58

be. He would often tell his families

34:00

don't worry too much don't

34:03

worry so it wasn't even only for him he

34:05

would remind them why are you so worried if

34:08

not thought Allah he says what he says don't

34:12

occupy yourself don't

34:14

become so preoccupied with a tadbir

34:16

anyone here like a really serious

34:19

micromanager anyone here like

34:21

you have to like know every detail of something

34:24

no no we're all just incredibly trusting

34:26

people okay so you know

34:28

like the you know the people on vacation where they plan

34:31

every minute of the area go I hit you right there's

34:33

a global nodding right now yeah we

34:35

have to have an intervention soon inshaAllah not today right

34:38

or the people that want to know every shit

34:41

or if something goes wrong it

34:43

goes off the plan we don't know how to adjust

34:46

the flight is delayed the flight is missed oh no what's

34:48

gonna happen what's this we were supposed to go here and

34:50

there now we can't if

34:53

not why less is a rehness second minute to be

34:55

here give your heart some

34:57

rest from Ted to be why he says

34:59

why would you become so concerned about something

35:02

that someone better than you Allah has promised

35:04

he'll take care for you don't

35:07

put yourself in God's position so the

35:09

Prophet sallallahu alaihi would tell it miserud and

35:11

other companions don't worry too much whatever

35:13

Allah has destined will happen and whatever Allah tada

35:16

has not destined will not happen I will tell

35:18

you this when we hear that

35:20

phrase by people that we love and people that

35:22

love us we become upset we

35:24

become frustrated but suddenly when I tell

35:26

you that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said it it sounds

35:29

really good all right you know what

35:31

that is that means that we have to work on ourselves if

35:34

we find frustration when somebody tells us what

35:36

the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said it

35:39

means we have to work on ourselves we have

35:41

to become okay with that it's from the Prophet sallallahu alaihi

35:43

wa sallam and he wanted nothing more than what's best for

35:45

us okay the

35:47

Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said okay another

35:50

step okay first was trust Allah second was

35:53

be flexible be okay

35:56

right don't take things too seriously don't take things

35:58

too heavily realize that what's

36:00

happening is happening for a reason and say

36:02

it out loud say this is from Allah

36:05

another is the vicar of Allah specifically one

36:07

vicar are you ready for this? La

36:10

haula wa la kuwata illa billa you

36:12

guys know what this means? La haula

36:14

wa la kuwata illa billa there is

36:16

no strength no ability and

36:19

there is no power except by the will

36:21

of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that's

36:24

why you see people saying that and

36:26

you hear them saying that in moments

36:28

where they feel what? Completely incapable completely

36:31

unable to do something they say what?

36:33

La haula wa la kuwata illa billa

36:35

the Prophet A'isa al-Salaam he said that

36:37

this statement itself is a cure for

36:40

99 illnesses here he meant

36:42

spiritual illnesses this statement cures you of 99

36:45

illnesses he says the lightest of those illnesses

36:47

number one on the list is

36:49

grief how many of you

36:51

have ever felt sad before? Raise your hand

36:53

if something broke your heart of course

36:57

how many times when you're experiencing heartbreak

37:00

how many times we're experiencing I didn't get a lot of hands

37:02

over your brothers what's going on there's

37:04

one brother just got lost I said how many broke your heart

37:06

he's like starts

37:09

hearing Drake songs in his head no sorry who's

37:12

Drake? He

37:16

said la haula

37:18

wa la kuwata illa billa is the

37:21

cure for 99 diseases

37:23

the lightest of which is what he

37:25

says alham is

37:27

grief and and what's having

37:30

Arabic man it's like a preoccupied grief

37:33

like it's completely occupied your mind and

37:36

subhanAllah think about that when

37:38

something doesn't go your way and

37:41

you tell yourself la haula

37:43

wa la kuwata illa billa it's

37:46

like chipping away at a

37:48

boulder that is blocking the light from Allah subhanahu

37:50

wa ta'ala imagine that your heart

37:52

is being covered by shade of this rock that's

37:54

block and you're chipping away at it and every

37:56

time you say it you're reminding yourself you know

37:59

this is the kirasirah stuff? I'm telling you,

38:01

it's not just a formality. You don't

38:03

only say, when you're like in

38:05

the right position, the more that you try it,

38:07

the more that you do it, the more that

38:09

it has an effect on you. You

38:11

know, we're reading and we're learning now about

38:13

things like spending time outside, spending time in

38:15

the Sun, grounding. You guys heard

38:18

about these things? Walking outside barefoot, right?

38:20

And there are, there are, my

38:22

mom is going amazing on WhatsApp

38:24

right now. She's

38:27

like, walk outside. It takes away all the

38:29

badness from your feet. All right, I'll get

38:31

all this. Okay. InshaAllah. The

38:33

point being is, we are

38:35

so quick to listen and give

38:37

our attention to a psychologist or

38:40

some type of doctor that tells

38:42

us, you know what, if you sit under a tree

38:44

for 30 minutes a day, it'll make you happier. You're

38:46

like, yeah, you know what, I actually really feel that.

38:50

I was, I was telling somebody yesterday, somebody

38:52

was asking me about cats because I have two cats and

38:55

they were like, would you recommend getting a cat? I said,

38:57

yeah. And then I just found myself like uttering like, yeah,

39:00

and actually like there are studies that show that when

39:02

cats purr, it helps your anxiety. And he was like, really? And

39:05

I was like, yeah, I saw it on TikTok. Like, you know,

39:07

it's like completely

39:09

like non-scientific excitation.

39:12

But SubhanAllah, we're so quick to accept

39:14

even the most questionable of

39:16

references, but when the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

39:18

says, say, lahawla wa lakua ta illa billa,

39:20

it will help you with your grief. We're

39:22

like, I don't know about that. You

39:25

know what I mean? And we haven't

39:27

tried it. Those that are most incredulous about the

39:29

way that spirituality works are the ones that haven't

39:31

tried it. But those that have tried

39:33

it, may Allah make us amongst them. Those that

39:35

have a regimen, they make us tikfar, they do

39:37

salawat on the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. Those that

39:40

read Quran every day, we, oh, I'll take that

39:42

back. We have tried it. It's called Ramadan. When

39:45

you go through the month of Ramadan and

39:47

you feel yourself spiritually elevated, that's not a

39:50

coincidence, not an accident. That's by

39:52

design. 30 days of the

39:54

best religious month of your life.

39:56

And for some reason, on no

39:58

food, no sleep, no food. know anything on

40:00

the 27th night everyone it's a vibe

40:03

right like everyone feels wonderful how do

40:05

you explain that besides proximity to Allah

40:07

Subhana Wa Ta'ala you can't explain that

40:10

so institute these practices step

40:13

number three you want contentment with Allah remind

40:15

yourself that nothing is possible except that he

40:17

willed it. La hawla wa la kuwa

40:20

ta illa billa okay

40:24

then he continues and he says if

40:28

a believer sees that fate and

40:30

destiny are from Allah's wisdom and

40:32

mercy this is step number four

40:36

we all know that these things come from Allah but

40:39

we misunderstand where they

40:41

come when they come from Allah where they where

40:43

are they coming from for

40:46

us we think that when something bad happens

40:48

it means that Allah is blank with us

40:51

fill in the blank if

40:54

something bad happens we think Allah is what angry

40:58

disappointed upset right yes or no raise

41:01

your hand if that's something you feel naturally bad thing

41:03

happens Allah is upset with me raise

41:05

your hand anybody okay how many of you have

41:07

ever been told by somebody when something bad happens

41:10

what did you do what sin did you do right

41:13

what guna did you do right Ibn

41:17

Rajab here is saying you need to change

41:19

that paradigm instead of

41:21

saying that this bad is punishment from Allah say

41:24

that this thing that

41:27

Allah put in my life is

41:29

from his wisdom and from his mercy

41:32

from his wisdom why because Allah knows

41:34

and he knew and he still knows

41:36

that whatever thing I'm going through by

41:40

removing it it's better for me or

41:43

by placing this here it's better for me and from

41:46

his mercy which the Prophet SallAllahu

41:48

Alaihi Wasallam said when he told the Umar you know

41:50

one time I saw the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam it

41:53

was a very emotional story actually if I tell the

41:55

narration it get very emotional during the

41:57

years of boycott during the years where the Muslims were

41:59

not able to able to have food or

42:01

buy food. Their money was not good. Meaning

42:04

no one would sell to them because they were a boycotted

42:07

people. May Allah give that boycott against the Zionist

42:09

Ya'r al-Anm. Nobody

42:11

would do business with them, right? Because

42:13

they didn't want to have any interaction with

42:15

them. This was the power of the Kufar

42:18

and Mecca. This is how they manipulated politically

42:20

against the Muslims, right? So

42:22

during this time when the Muslims had

42:24

no food, you would think that

42:26

the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam would be the one

42:29

who at least was fed. He had a lot

42:31

of work to do. He had to teach people.

42:33

He had to counsel people and that his companions

42:35

would give up their food for him. You would

42:37

think that, right? And they tried. But the Prophet

42:39

SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam was the type of leader where

42:41

he would actually suffer the brunt of whatever difficulty

42:43

was on his community first and foremost. And

42:46

so you would have stories where the Prophet SallAllahu

42:49

Alaihi Wasallam would come outside during the middle of

42:51

the day in Arabia. The

42:53

middle of the day. Think Dallas in July

42:55

at 1 p.m. 115

42:59

degrees. Middle of the day. Hot

43:01

sun. And why

43:03

would they go out in the middle of the day? This

43:05

is actually normally the time in which people of that region

43:08

would do with Qataylula. They would take a nap. Because

43:10

it's so hot you can't function outside. And

43:12

back then no air conditioning. You didn't

43:15

have like, oh let's go inside and hang

43:17

out. No, it was hot everywhere. Some places

43:19

were shaded, others were not. So they would

43:21

take naps. So one time the Prophet SallAllahu

43:23

Alaihi Wasallam and Abu Bakr radiAllahu Anhu. And

43:26

Umar radiAllahu Anhu Ma'a. May Allah ta'ala be

43:28

pleased with both of them. They were walking

43:30

outside, I don't want to say

43:32

aimlessly because it's not respectful, but they were

43:34

walking outside and they didn't know why the

43:37

other person was walking outside. They like bumped

43:39

into each other. And

43:41

Abu Bakr and Umar they came to the

43:43

Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam and said Ya Rasulullah

43:45

were so hungry. And

43:47

in order to demonstrate their hunger they lifted

43:50

up their shirt and they showed

43:52

that they had taken a stone, like

43:54

a mid-sized stone, and they put it

43:56

against their abdomen and they tied it

43:59

so that they... would take their stomach and they would compress.

44:01

You know when your stomach's hurting and you need to

44:03

like compress it with something? They would

44:06

compress it. Like my son the other day had a

44:08

stomach of ache and I just pressed on his stomach.

44:10

It just gives it a sense of relief. So they

44:12

took their stomach ache and they took a stone and

44:14

they tied it so that they could trick their mind

44:17

into thinking that they weren't hungry. The

44:20

Prophet Salsan looks at them and

44:23

he lifts up his shirt and

44:25

instead of one stone he has two. To

44:30

demonstrate whatever you're going through

44:32

I know not

44:35

only that I'm

44:37

trying my best to take the brunt of it. I'm

44:40

trying my best to take the brunt of it. So

44:43

there's another story SubhanAllah where the

44:45

Prophet Salsan his mattress what

44:48

he slept on to call it a

44:50

mattress is actually misleading. It

44:52

wasn't a mattress. You know

44:54

think about this the next time we complain about what we have.

44:57

His mattress was not a mattress. His mattress was

44:59

a mat made

45:03

from straw that was laid

45:05

out and tied together and

45:08

he would sleep on his side.

45:11

And so when he got up you know if you

45:14

lay on something and his abdomen was exposed the side

45:16

of his body was exposed what happens when you have

45:18

something and you lay on it and your body's on

45:20

it for a while what happens to your skin? You

45:23

get the indentations right the marks and

45:25

so he came outside and the alma mater he saw

45:28

him and alma mater he started to cry and he

45:30

said Ya Rasulullah it's not fair. It's

45:32

not fair. Prophet Salsan

45:34

said what's not fair. He

45:37

said it's not fair that you're the

45:39

messenger of Allah you're the most beloved

45:41

and chosen by God and you have

45:43

to sleep on a mat of straw

45:46

of reeds of grass dry grass that's

45:48

your mattress and he said while the

45:50

kings and the emperors of Persia and

45:53

Rome are sleeping on the most comfortable

45:55

and luxurious of mattresses. Allah

45:58

became frustrated. became upset.

46:01

And if we want to like channel that for a

46:03

second, you look at the situations of the Muslims in

46:05

the world today. Palestine,

46:08

Sudan, you look all over

46:10

the world and you see Muslim suffering and you're like, this

46:12

is not fair. You

46:14

have people that are disbelievers in God as

46:16

countries. They adopt atheism as an ideology, but

46:18

for some reason they have free health care.

46:21

And then you have countries where there are

46:23

people that adopt Islam as their belief and

46:25

they don't have enough medicine to take care

46:27

of even the sickest amongst them. This is

46:30

not fair. And the Prophet

46:32

Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam gave the most beautiful response. You know

46:34

what he said? He said, Amr, are

46:36

you not pleased? You're

46:39

not happy? You're

46:41

not happy that while they get it here, we're going to

46:43

get it there? You

46:45

really want to make that trade? You

46:48

want to switch spots with them? You

46:50

want to get all that luxury here but not get it there

46:52

or do you want to be patient here and get it there?

46:56

You see the mentality? You

46:58

see, this is why he

47:00

says what? He says, in the

47:02

fisabri, bi mat

47:05

sa krahu fi hi khayran kathira, patience

47:07

with things you don't like, there's so much good

47:09

in it. There's so much good in

47:11

it. And so the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi

47:13

Wasallam understanding that

47:16

there's mercy in whatever was

47:18

decreed. Mercy.

47:22

The hunger, the Prophet Sallallahu

47:24

Alaihi Wasallam would find it as an opportunity to fast. The

47:28

straw mat, he would take

47:30

that as an opportunity to what? To remind himself of

47:32

the luxuries in Jannah. And honestly, after

47:34

hearing that narration so many times from my teachers, well

47:37

Allah alayhi alayhi mata, it starts to have an effect

47:39

on you. If you want to

47:41

really have a deeply spiritual, healthy

47:43

mental state, you have to

47:45

read the life of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Knowing

47:48

his life gives you that spiritual wellness. It

47:51

actually improves your mental health. I will go

47:53

on record as saying reading the lives of

47:55

the Prophet, in particular our Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi

47:57

Wasallam, but all prophets, it gives you mental

47:59

health. wellness. It helps you

48:01

understand in perspective, in context, everything

48:04

that you're going through. And

48:06

you know that he went through it just like you. And

48:09

yes, it doesn't take away the problem but it gives

48:12

you company along the way. May

48:14

Allah Ta'ala give us strength. And

48:16

so, and this is

48:18

why the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said

48:20

that a believer never experiences anything

48:23

except it is good for them.

48:25

Okay? It is good for them. The

48:27

Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam also said when Allah loves

48:29

a people, he tests them. This

48:32

doesn't mean by the way that Allah only tests

48:34

them. But what this means is that

48:36

Allah does not withhold his tests from the people he

48:38

loves. When Allah loves the people,

48:41

he'll still test them. They will

48:43

be tested. Now listen to this.

48:45

Many of you have heard that I'm sure statement before. If

48:47

Allah loves somebody, he tests them. That's a hadith. You know

48:49

there's a second half to the hadith. You ready for this?

48:52

Everyone always asks, how do I know if I'm

48:54

being tested or if I'm being punished? Raise

48:57

your hand if you've ever had that question. Okay,

49:00

you ready for this? The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

49:02

said, In the Allaha, if Allah

49:04

loves the people, he will test them.

49:11

Saman Radiya Salahu

49:13

Ar-Ridah. Whoever

49:15

is content, whoever

49:18

when the test happens to them, no

49:21

complaints, no anger,

49:23

no resentment, no rejection of

49:25

Allah, whoever from An-Radiya, Salahu

49:28

Ar-Ridah. Whoever is happy and

49:30

content with whatever situation, Salahu

49:32

Ar-Ridah. For them is the

49:34

contentment. Capital C. Allah has

49:37

marked these people as what? I'm happy with

49:39

them. Imagine on the day of judgment you

49:42

show up, the angel takes you

49:44

and says, are you so and so?

49:46

You say yes. Allah is happy with you. Come

49:48

here. Why?

49:50

Well, because that one day your

49:53

family was being really tough and instead of complaining,

49:56

you said, alhamdulillah, I have a family. You

49:59

see how this This stuff is so practical. One

50:02

day you had car

50:04

troubles and instead of complaining to everybody that

50:06

you were friends with, you said, alhamdulillah that

50:08

I still have a job. Alhamdulillah that I

50:10

still can work remotely. Work

50:12

remotely. Alhamdulillah that I still

50:15

this. Alhamdulillah, no matter what bad

50:17

thing happened to you, alhamdulillah that I still have

50:19

this, this, this. Faman

50:21

radiya fala hu al-rudah. Waman

50:23

sahita fala hu assahtah.

50:28

And whoever starts to

50:30

become upset and resentful, then

50:32

guess what? They are

50:35

actually resented by Allah. Can

50:37

you imagine? We never use that verb often,

50:39

right? Resented by Allah. Can

50:42

you imagine that for the person

50:44

that resents what Allah decreed for them,

50:47

Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala, He actually resents

50:49

this person on the day of judgment.

50:52

And this is why subhanAllah, this

50:55

is why Allah, it's okay, don't worry about it. Look

50:57

at me. This is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,

51:01

when a person wants to see

51:03

their state with Allah, all

51:05

they need to do is ask themselves one question. The

51:08

question is, how do I handle things

51:10

I don't like? If

51:12

I want to know where I am with Allah, how do

51:14

I handle bad news? There

51:17

are some people when they handle bad news, Allahi

51:19

if you could not, if you didn't

51:21

hear what was told to them, you just saw their face,

51:24

you would think that nothing bad was told to them. If

51:27

you just saw a video of

51:29

how they reacted, no audio, you

51:32

would think nothing bad happened. How is

51:34

that possible? There are some people

51:37

that are that special. And that's an

51:39

indication of something. May Allah tell us how to make this amongst

51:41

those people. Okay, Ummat

51:44

dar dar, she said, and

51:46

I'll end here, whenever a

51:48

companion says something about the afterlife, it means that

51:51

they learned it from the Prophet SAW, because

51:53

they didn't have access to this stuff. So

51:55

Ummat dar dar, who is the wife of

51:57

Abu Dardat, The

52:01

ones who are content with Allah's decree and

52:04

accept what He has decreed for them in

52:07

paradise They will be envied

52:09

by who are you ready for this? Who

52:13

is the highest level in paradise after

52:15

the prophets and after

52:17

those people that were with the prophets who are the

52:19

highest level that we know of The people that when

52:21

they live through this life and their life is taken

52:23

from them. They achieve a certain status. They're called what?

52:27

Shua hada Shahid right Ummah

52:29

dar that she said that when the

52:31

prophet or she said that when a person is content

52:33

with Allah on the day of judgment All of the

52:35

shua hada will be looking and they're like man

52:39

Look at that person all those

52:41

who are martyred all those who

52:43

instantly shua hada instantly go to Jannah

52:46

Their soul is with Allah before their body hits the ground

52:49

They don't feel pain Every

52:52

miracle of Shahada we learn about it's so amazing.

52:54

They don't feel pain The

52:56

Shahid when they're killed they don't feel the effect of

52:58

being killed they almost are

53:00

like am I am I gone and

53:02

their soul is with Allah and In

53:05

Jannah they ask Allah Allah let us go back That

53:08

was actually kind of fun Giving

53:10

our life for you was the greatest honor we could ever have

53:12

let us go back All

53:14

of those people are gonna be lined

53:17

up looking at people who are who who were just

53:19

happy with Allah I'm just happy

53:22

Doesn't matter what I ate what I drove where

53:24

I lived what I wore who I married when

53:26

I got married if that worked out The

53:28

job I had the job I didn't get

53:30

doesn't matter. Oh Allah I might

53:32

not be happy with this stuff down here, but

53:34

oh Allah. I'm never gonna let that affect how happy

53:37

I am with you I'm

53:39

never gonna complain against you. Yeah, Allah. May

53:41

Allah ta'ala make us content May Allah

53:43

ta'ala give us happiness gently may Allah ta'ala make

53:45

us those people that can always find reasons to

53:47

be pleased with him and They're

53:50

always our reasons may Allah ta'ala never let us

53:52

become so myopic and self-centered that we forget that

53:54

he is the one that we should Always be

53:56

content with may Allah ta'ala give us the ability

53:58

to always show our God gratitude to him

54:00

and that we never ever lose our patience

54:03

with our life and our situation and that

54:05

we have rada constantly no matter what situation

54:07
