Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
0:03
Barakatuhu. This Ramadan,
0:05
we at Qalam are working to
0:07
support the Human Development Fund in
0:10
their One Ummah, One Plate Global
0:12
Iftar Campaign. Their
0:14
mission extends beyond borders, reaching families
0:16
in need across Africa, the Middle
0:18
East, and Asia. Countless
0:21
families in those regions, including refugees
0:23
and the improvists, struggle daily for
0:25
basic nourishment. To
0:27
your assistance, there are teams on
0:30
the ground providing essential food packages
0:32
to families in countries like Kenya,
0:34
Yemen, Somalia, Gaza, Pakistan, and more.
0:38
Ramadan should be a time of peace and reflection,
0:41
not hunger and hardship. HDF
0:43
is dedicated to providing daily Iftars
0:45
and food packages to families, each
0:47
designed to sustain them for the
0:49
month of Ramadan. This
0:52
act of kindness has the power to
0:54
multiply the reward of your own fasting,
0:57
offering much more than temporary relief. It's
1:00
a step towards breaking the cycle
1:02
of hunger and poverty. This
1:04
is your Ummah in need of your support.

Blessed Month. Assalamu
1:25
alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. This
1:28
is Abdul Nasser Jengda and you're listening to
1:30
the Qalam Podcast. Allah
1:32
tells the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam
1:34
that the stories of the Prophets are
1:37
a source of great strength and
1:40
comfort for the Messenger SallAllahu Alaihi
1:42
Wasallam. Therefore it's important for
1:44
all of us to learn
1:46
and reflect on these stories and
1:49
derive the lessons, the strength and
1:51
spirituality from the stories of these
1:53
great and noble Prophets that
1:55
Allah has given to us in the Quran.
1:58
Therefore I'm very grateful to you for your support. pleased to
2:00
share with you the series that
2:03
I delivered in the Qalam Masjid
2:05
on the Qalam campus all
2:07
throughout the month of Ramadan, Ramadan 2024
2:11
corresponding to 1445 after
2:13
Hijra. May Allah subhana wa
2:16
ta'ala make this a means of benefit
2:18
for all of us please enjoy the
2:20
series. Continuing
2:30
with our series here in the month
2:32
of Ramadan the stories of
2:34
the prophets from the Quran. Today
2:37
inshaAllah we're going to be talking
2:41
about in general the
2:43
story of the Prophet Isa,
2:45
Alayhi Salaam. And
2:48
in addressing the story of Prophet Isa,
2:50
Alayhi Salaam we're going
2:52
to go a little bit further back because
2:54
when Allah subhana wa ta'ala tells us about
2:57
the story of Isa, Alayhi Salaam,
3:00
Allah subhana wa ta'ala starts further back
3:03
with the family that Isa, Alayhi Salaam
3:05
came from and
3:08
hence the name of the Surah that
3:10
we're familiar with as well. Surah Ali
3:12
Imran, the family
3:14
of Imran. And as
3:18
we've been going through these different stories of the
3:20
prophets in the Quran every
3:22
single day we've tried to focus on a
3:25
particular lesson that we can extract from there.
3:27
Something we can learn and implement.
3:31
And so the particular lesson that
3:33
we're going to be talking about today
3:35
from the story of Isa, Alayhi Salaam
3:38
is the story is a lesson rather
3:41
of dedication. The
3:44
Al-Imran, the family of Imran
3:46
which culminates with Isa
3:49
ibn Mariam, Salaamunah Ali Hima, really
3:52
embodies and personifies
3:54
the character and the quality,
3:57
the trait of dedication. Allah
4:00
SWT starts to teach us this
4:02
lesson of dedication by going
4:04
all the way back to the grandparents of
4:06
Isa Alayhi Salaam, Imran and his wife, who
4:10
is referred to as Imra'atu Imran, the
4:12
wife of Imran. Some
4:14
of the books like the
4:16
Old Testament mentions her name as
4:18
Anne or Hana.
4:22
Nonetheless, Allah tells us, the wife of Imran,
4:24
she said, In
4:29
Rabbi, my Lord, In me nazar
4:31
tulaq mafi batani muharra. She
4:34
was expecting a child, she was pregnant,
4:37
and she says, my Lord, I
4:39
devote, I dedicate, I vow,
4:41
I pledge to give
4:45
my child for your sake, to
4:48
free that child from any kind
4:50
of expectations, social
4:53
or otherwise, familial
4:55
or social, any kind of expectations
4:57
or obligations. But this child
4:59
will be solely and only dedicated to you
5:01
and only you Allah. For
5:04
takab al-mini, so accept this child from me,
5:06
in the kantasamil al-im, you are the one
5:08
who hears all and knows all. Salaamma
5:11
wada'atah, when she gave birth
5:13
to the child, the Quran tells us, kala
5:16
travbihni wada'atuha'unta. She
5:19
said, my Lord, I have given birth to a daughter
5:22
because they were from
5:24
the region that we know as
5:26
Palestine. They
5:28
were from Nasirah, Nazareth. And
5:32
so understanding that the sacred
5:35
place there, the place of worship for
5:37
the people in that region and one of
5:39
the most sacred places on earth was a
5:41
place that was close to them and that
5:44
was Beitul Maktas, Jerusalem, al-Mashil Aqsa. And
5:46
so the idea was that this child that I
5:49
am pledging for the sake of Allah will
5:51
go and will serve the house of Allah
5:53
and will serve the community there. And so
5:55
there was a natural assumption that obviously a
5:57
male child, a son, will be more capable
5:59
of. serving that role. Being
6:02
a Khadim in the masjid, cleaning the masjid,
6:04
serving the worshippers and eventually one day if
6:06
Allah has willed so then be able to
6:08
lead the people and you know teach the
6:10
people and so on so forth. So
6:13
she says I have given birth to a daughter. Walaahu
6:16
a'alamu bimawada'atwara Allah subhana wa ta'ala says
6:18
something remarkable. Allah subhana wa ta'ala says
6:20
Allah knew who she had actually given
6:22
birth to. That she was underestimating what
6:24
this would mean. Walaisad
6:27
dakaruk al-untha and
6:30
the male is
6:32
not like the female and
6:35
while this is a bigger larger philosophical statement
6:37
in the Quran that addresses a lot of
6:39
the chaos that we see in
6:42
society today but Allah subhana wa
6:44
ta'ala at the same time in
6:47
his infinite wisdom is saying that
6:49
she was underestimating what role
6:51
ultimately in the grand plan of Allah subhana
6:53
wa ta'ala this child could serve by virtue
6:56
of being a daughter and not a son.
6:59
Wailinisa ma'itu ahammargaam and she says I
7:01
named this daughter Miryam. Wailinu
7:04
a'idu habika waddu righatamina shaytan ar-rajim and I
7:06
ask you Allah to protect her and her
7:09
progeny from shaytan. And Allah
7:11
subhana wa ta'ala tells us that Allah
7:13
subhana wa ta'ala accepted her and
7:15
then she kafala hazakarigha she ended
7:17
up in the supervision the care
7:20
and the tutelage of
7:22
her uncle Zakariya al-ihi salaam a prophet
7:24
of God so she's living
7:26
in Beitul Makdas she's worshiping there she's
7:28
studying there and she has a prophet
7:31
as a teacher SubhanAllah
7:34
and then look at the dedication from the
7:36
very early days Qulama
7:38
dakala al-ihi zakariya al-mihrabah wajidar in
7:40
dahar isqah we talked previously about
7:43
Zakariya al-ihi salaam's dua for a
7:45
child even an old age and
7:49
an extremely old age. Well Allah
7:51
subhana wa ta'ala tells us that it was
7:53
Mariam's dedication that was
7:55
an inspiration for Zakariya al-ihi salaam's
7:57
dua when he enters upon her and he She
8:00
finds her in the mihrab,
8:02
in her place of worship, her corner
8:04
of the masjid, worshiping Allah. What
8:07
did that? In the hariska he
8:09
found her with sustenance, with provision, with
8:11
food. The narration mentions that she was
8:13
eating fruits, she was eating fruits that
8:15
were out of season and out of
8:17
region. And
8:20
he says, how did you
8:22
come by this? This is from Allah
8:24
and Allah provides to whom? Allah
8:29
provides to whom? Whoever he wills, however he
8:31
wills, there are no limits, there are no
8:33
limitations upon Allah. Allah can
8:36
provide anything to anyone, anywhere,
8:38
anyhow, any time. And
8:41
so look at that dedication. Now
8:45
it goes forward, the story moves forward from there where
8:48
Allah SWT chose her. In
8:51
Allah's tafaki, wa ta'harati wa tafaki
8:53
alla nisa illa ala min. Allah
8:56
has chosen you for a great
8:58
mighty purpose. And
9:00
that purpose is that you will
9:02
be the vessel of the
9:05
greatest miracle that this world
9:07
has witnessed since the
9:10
creation of Adam alayhi salam, in the
9:12
masalah, isa'a in the lahikah masali Adam.
9:14
Like Allah created Adam alayhi salam from
9:16
clay, that miracle
9:18
of human life, you
9:21
will be the vessel of the
9:23
next greatest miracle that humanity has
9:25
witnessed. And that is
9:27
that you will bear a child that has no father.
9:33
And Allah SWT tells her, wa yukalli muhnasa
9:35
fil mahni wa kahlan wa minas salihi. He
9:37
will be a prophet of God, he will
9:39
miraculously speak to people even as an infant,
9:41
as a baby, and he will be a
9:43
righteous prophet of Allah. And
9:47
so she bears this child with
9:49
devotion, with dedication. And
9:53
when the time comes for
9:56
this child to come into this world, she
9:59
is... is still
10:01
dedicated to Allah SWT, to
10:04
the mission and the responsibility
10:06
and the task that Allah
10:08
SWT has given to her.
10:12
And once Isha'a Alayhi
10:15
Salaam is born, and
10:17
she takes him back to the people,
10:19
she enters into the town, and
10:22
they start berating her, and
10:25
they start slandering her
10:27
and accusing her, she's
10:30
not shaking in her dedication at all. They
10:34
start to say things to her like, lakajit
10:36
tishay an fariyah. You
10:39
have done the most horrific
10:41
thing, ya uch taharum,
10:44
they invoke her family, who shamed
10:46
your family, ma kana abu alkim ra'asau'in,
10:48
your father was not an evil man,
10:51
wa makana tum muqibahriyah, your
10:53
mother was not a shameless woman, what
10:55
have you done? So
10:57
Asha'aat ilahi, look
11:00
at her conviction, her dedication, she
11:02
pointed to the infant, and
11:05
even they were baffled, they said, keifanu kali mumal
11:07
kana filma hadi isa'a bhigan, how
11:09
do you expect us to speak to an infant,
11:12
that you are carrying in your arms? And
11:15
then Isha'a Alayhi Salaam spoke miraculously,
11:19
kala'ini abdu lahi, I
11:21
am the servant of God, atani
11:23
al-kitaa wajaa'alani na biya, Allah
11:26
has given me revelation, and Allah has made
11:28
me a prophet, wajaa'alani mubarakan
11:30
aina ma kuntu, I will be a
11:33
source of blessing for humanity, wa
11:35
usani biz salati wa zakati madun tu
11:37
khayyah, and I will continue to worship
11:40
my Lord, and practice charity as long
11:42
as I will be alive, wa barram
11:44
biwali dati, and I will honor my
11:46
mother, wa lami jalni jibbaran shakhiya, I
11:49
will not be a wretched man, wa
11:51
salamu alayhi yamawiliptu wa yamamutu wa yamabu
11:53
atu khayyah, and I will always be blessed
11:56
by Allah Subhana wa rahmatullah, dalika Isha b'num
11:58
maryam, that was Isha'a Alayhi Salaam. the
12:00
son of Miriam, Salaamun Alayhi Ma'am. And
12:04
so again you see the dedication
12:06
and Allah SWT tells us more
12:08
about the dedication of Isa Alayhi
12:10
Salaam. Allah SWT says, then he
12:12
served his mission, he
12:14
served his role. Warasul
12:17
an-ilabani isra'ilah. He
12:20
was a messenger to the people
12:22
of Bani Israel, the Israelites. An-ni
12:25
kajeet tukhumbi a'agatim mirobikum. That
12:28
I have been sent to you with signs
12:30
from my Lord. An-ni
12:32
akhlukul a'kumbi na'atini ka hai
12:34
atit ta'ir. Faa an-sukhufihi fayakunu
12:37
ta'iran bi'idnillah. He displayed
12:39
miracles to them, all by
12:41
the will and the permission of Allah with the
12:43
name of Allah, Bismillah bi'idnillah. He
12:45
would take dirt or clay and he
12:47
would form it into the shape of a bird.
12:50
He would say the name of Allah and he
12:52
would blow into it and it would come to
12:54
life and fly away. Wa'ubriul a'akmaha wal-abaraasa. He
12:56
would cure the blind, he would cure the leper
12:59
by the will and the permission and
13:01
the name of Allah. Wa'uhi il-mau'u ta'abi'idnillah.
13:04
He brought the dead back to life
13:06
by the name and the will and
13:08
the permission of Allah and that dead
13:10
person who came back to life testified
13:12
that indeed he is a messenger of
13:14
Allah. And
13:17
he did all of this. Even
13:20
though his own people, Isha
13:23
al-Isamu al-S He's
13:27
from the Israelites, he's from Bani Israel and
13:30
his own people rejected him. His
13:33
own people rejected him. Wa'ala
13:35
a'agatul-bila, samaala a'agatul-bila. They
13:38
slandered and accused his mother
13:41
of horrific things. They
13:43
called him a liar in a charlatan, a
13:47
magician and a soothsayer. Somebody
13:50
who's trying to deceive people. But
13:53
Isha al-Isamu al-Tibh serving his mission. He
13:55
was dedicated. And
13:58
Allah Subhana wa ta'ala even tells us that
14:01
eventually what happened with Isa Alayhi
14:03
Salaam is that he
14:06
became the subject of
14:09
the greatest lies that
14:12
humanity has ever concocted.
14:15
That the people that eventually would be known
14:17
as the Ya'ud who
14:20
are his own people, they
14:23
slandered his mother, they called him a
14:25
liar, and
14:28
they painted him as a liar.
14:32
And then on the other side, the
14:34
people who did initially
14:37
accept and receive his message, but
14:40
then they went too far and
14:42
they deified him and they called him the son of
14:44
God. Waqalat inna
14:47
saal maseeh chubnullah. Laqada
14:49
kafaralladeen aqallu inna laha hu'al maseeh
14:51
chubnullah mariyam. Inna laha salih tsu
14:53
tadaata. They called him God.
14:56
They worshipped him. And
14:58
everyone went too far. Think about how
15:02
they completely defied and
15:06
they completely betrayed Isa Alayhi
15:08
Salaam. But you know
15:10
how dedicated Isa Alayhi Salaam is? Allah
15:13
SWT tells us in the Quran, in
15:15
this world, about a conversation that will
15:17
happen on the day of judgment. Listen
15:20
to this conversation. Allah says, wa'ilqala Allah
15:23
huya aisa min amargah. Allah
15:25
will say to Isa Alayhi Salaam on the
15:27
day of judgment. An-takulta
15:30
linnas. Did you
15:32
tell the people, it tahiduni
15:35
wa'unmiyyah ilaheenim indunilah,
15:37
to worship you and your mother? Did
15:40
you tell them to worship
15:42
you? Qala subhanak.
15:45
You'll say, my Lord, all glory be
15:47
to you, perfect are you, Allah. Maya
15:49
kunuli. Why would
15:51
I ever do such a thing? An-akulta malaisa li
15:53
bhihaq. That I would say something that I have no
15:56
right to say. In Kun tukultu
15:58

17:46
you. Our
17:48
messenger Mohammed the muscle lucky some the lower other
17:51
he was some. He
17:53
was so inspired! By
17:55
this dedication to the mission, of
17:58
prostitute He
18:01
was so inspired by this dedication of
18:04
Isa Alayhi Salaam that
18:06
it's narrated in the Sahih Imam Bukhari that
18:10
the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam one
18:12
night stood up to pray
18:15
as he would pray throughout the night and
18:18
he read the verse into Adibhum for
18:20
Innahum Ayyibaduk O Allah if you
18:22
decide to punish them they are your servants and
18:25
you may do as you will but
18:29
if you decide to forgive them you
18:32
are almighty and all wise and no one can question you
18:40
and the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam kept
18:42
on repeating this verse over
18:44
and over and over and over again crying
18:47
tears to the point where his beard was
18:49
soaked his chest was soaked, his shirt was
18:51
wet with his tears and he kept on
18:53
repeating this verse and over and over again
18:56
until Bilal Radi Allahu ta'ala Anu called the adhan
18:58
for Fajr dedication
19:02
and so we have similarly
19:04
been given a task
19:06
and a responsibility to
19:10
worship Allah, to serve Allah to
19:14
serve the deen of Allah, to spread the word of
19:16
