At Amika Insurance, we

0:02

know it's more than a life policy. It's

0:06

about the promise and the responsibility

0:08

that comes with being a new

0:10

parent, being

0:12

there day and night, and

0:16

building a plan for tomorrow, today.

0:20

For the ones you'll always look out for, trust

0:23

Amika Life Insurance. Amika.

0:26

Empathy is our best policy.

0:31

So, Ellen, we are letting

0:33

our listeners know that they're going to be

0:35

hearing us report on a case in this

0:37

episode that we recorded on May

0:39

6th. Correct. And the episode is

0:41

going to drop on May 8th for our Patreon, the

0:44

9th for the main feed, but on the 7th, the

0:46

day after we recorded, there were some major breaks in

0:48

the case. Of course, if you

0:50

follow true crime at all, you probably have

0:52

been following the case of Micah Miller, and

0:54

that is one of the cases that we

0:56

chose to cover today. So, we are going

0:58

to let the episode live in its entirety,

1:00

but after the episode, please stick around for

1:02

an addendum for all of the news

1:04

that broke today so we can make

1:07

sure that you have the most up-to-date

1:09

information. Thanks, guys. Hey,

1:18

Ellen. Hi, Ravia. How are you? Good. How are you doing?

1:21

Good. What's going on in your world? We've

1:24

been on the mic for like 18 hours now. That's

1:26

what it feels like, just between research

1:29

and being on the mic, but welcome,

1:31

everyone, to this week's episode. We

1:33

are in an about-damn crime week. That

1:36

means Ravia and I are bringing you

1:38

our top stories or stories that have

1:40

piqued our interest this week with

1:42

regards to true crime. Every week,

1:45

we bring you an episode. One week, we bring

1:47

you our talk show format where we have a

1:49

guest, and they choose a case, and we chat about it. And

1:52

then, on the other week, we bring you

1:54

about-damn crime. You can also find about-damn crime

1:56

every week on our Patreon, as well as

1:58

tons of other content. of extra goodies.

2:00

So if you are at our watch

2:05

party was the program and

2:07

today we

2:35

had to wait on our dog to eat the

2:37

cat pie of children. Before the Instagram we

2:39

had to wait on a feather with a feather

2:43

on the tip of it and we had to get

2:46

on our horse-drawn carriage and deliver ourselves.

2:48

Do you remember pen pals? Did you ever have

2:50

a pen pal? I did, I did.

2:52

My best friend from childhood was

2:54

a pen pal because we never lived in this. We

2:56

always lived so far away, we were letters to each

2:58

other. We did too. I would meet girls at camp

3:00

and we would write like long letters to each other

3:03

and we were just pen pals for

3:05

years and years and years. And then you never met again.

3:07

I have never met again. I have a vague recollection of

3:09

like, I guess it was elementary school or maybe middle but

3:11

I think it was elementary school where there's like this pen

3:13

pal program that you could be part of to write to

3:15

kids you haven't even met or write to people. I

3:18

don't know if I let my kids do that

3:20

at this point but everything sounds a little bit

3:22

dangerous now. We grew up in a different time

3:24

but it was so fun to open the mail

3:26

and you would just sit, we did stickers, yes,

3:28

clack and sniffs. Oh my god. Yeah. Oh children,

3:30

it was a wild time when we used to

3:32

write the handwritten letters. I would have done all

3:34

that. I would have done all that to get

3:37

Katherine Kubler on our show. I'm so glad she

3:39

did come on our show. I hope you guys

3:41

will catch that. I guess next week. Next week,

3:43

yeah. We have all kinds of fun on Patreon.

3:45

Sometimes we drop a couple more things when

3:47

we have more things to chat about and

3:49

since I wasn't on the recording for the

3:52

Michelle Carter, you get to hear Rabia and

3:54

I duke it out on a couple more

3:56

things about Michelle Carter. So head on over

3:58

to patreon.com/Rabia and Elle. and for more

4:00

of that but we have so much

4:03

to cover this week. There is so

4:05

much going on, Rabia. We don't discuss

4:07

beforehand the stories I'm going to bring the table for about

4:09

Damn Crime and what she's going to do but I have

4:11

a feeling we both are going to talk about the story

4:13

because it's kind of everywhere

4:15

in the true crime space right now. It's all

4:17

over the top. It's all over everything and it's

4:19

the only story really that I've prepared today. So

4:22

most days I come, most times I come with

4:24

two. This time I just want to do this

4:26

one. Well there's a lot if we're talking about

4:28

the same one but let me give you two

4:31

updates real quickly. So last week on About Damn

4:33

Crime which was on our Patreon so some of

4:35

you might not have heard it. We were talking

4:37

about the man versus bear TikTok hypothetical question that

4:40

went viral. Okay Rabia, I made a video. What

4:42

is wrong with people? Our girlfriends, we all

4:44

went to Montana. Rabia couldn't come.

4:46

She was very missed and I

4:49

made maybe a 10-second video at

4:51

Yellowstone National Park about bears. Totally

4:53

benign. Totally benign. So if a

4:55

bear attacks you in the woods

4:57

these are the things you're supposed

4:59

to do. Spray it with

5:02

spray or play dead and if

5:04

a man attacks you in the woods

5:07

what were you wearing? Rabia, I can't

5:11

even express the

5:14

level of bananas

5:16

comments I have received in

5:18

my comments section rather

5:21

than admitting that there is

5:23

a problem. These men

5:25

are losing their collective

5:27

minds over a hypothetical

5:29

situation and I

5:31

have come to the realization that there are

5:34

only two types of men. There are men

5:36

that get it and the

5:38

men that are so hurt

5:40

by a hypothetical scenario where

5:42

a woman would rather choose

5:44

the unpredictability of a wild

5:46

animal than them that

5:48

they lose their minds. Yeah, yeah. Rabia,

5:50

I can't even keep up with my

5:53

comments section and they all fit the

5:55

same demographic. I posted a bunch of

5:57

them on our Rabia and Ellen social

5:59

media. media and I posted the original

6:01

video on ours. It is Ellen's slapback, the

6:04

loner, worth going to our social media to

6:06

check it out but yeah no it got

6:08

dark in that comment section. Really really ugly.

6:10

It's just a nasty mess. Well here's the

6:12

thing, it got ugly because if you come

6:15

for me or my friends or women

6:17

in general, if you go

6:19

low I'm going to seep

6:21

into the earth's liquid magma.

6:26

Listen there have been phone calls to employers and

6:28

all kinds of consequences

6:30

have taken place. Listen, I love

6:32

Michelle Obama. Her high road is

6:35

beautiful. I don't possess that ability

6:37

so I will go to the

6:39

earth's crust. I'm

6:41

sorry. Listen if that's a flaw, guess what? I

6:43

don't do drugs and I don't hurt people so

6:45

I'm going to hit you where it hurts. Somebody's

6:47

going to do it and a lot of times

6:49

it hurts in their profile pictures, clearly.

6:53

It's hurting my eyeballs for sure and

6:55

then it's going, well you're the guys,

6:57

you're the men, do you see

6:59

the point was, okay you know what I'm tapping

7:01

out but I actually really do have an update.

7:03

Anyway I don't know what's happening with men. Did

7:05

the bear have something to say? Is that the

7:08

update? The bears are like yeah let the ladies

7:10

loose amongst us we'll be fine. The

7:12

bears, I swear they've all got

7:15

record deals, they've got Netflix deals,

7:17

the bears are living large. This

7:21

will be a Roman Empire now, I'm telling

7:23

you this whole thing. Oh my stars. It

7:25

is such an excellent but easy. It is

7:27

one of the most beautifully crafted like little

7:31

riddles or questions to really explore the differences

7:33

between how men and women experience a reality.

7:35

I mean it's so, I don't know, I

7:37

mean like have men ask men the same

7:40

question. No, we talked about this on Patreon.

7:42

You're like no, every man thinks I could beat up the other

7:44

guy, I'll be fine. Like no man feels threatened by another

7:46

guy in the woods. Yeah it's wild.

7:48

Actually since you say that I read

7:50

you this comment, I'll read it now

7:53

on the feed because of course it

7:55

is not every man but women have

7:57

enough collective trauma to speak on this.

8:00

We don't want to take our chances, man. We

8:02

don't want to take our chances. No, thank you.

8:04

It's really true. The other thing is, Ellen, I

8:06

will say this, because I actually believe this. I

8:09

don't care what you think of me for believing

8:11

this. If it's not every man, but after long

8:13

enough in the woods, it could be every man.

8:15

I'm sorry. Sure. But I do want to point

8:17

out this comment. I read to you this comment

8:19

when we were recording earlier when we were off

8:22

mic. So this is from a listener, Dennis Tamblin,

8:24

and he says, Your slaying of these men is

8:26

epic. Thank you. Compliment taken. And he said, I

8:28

have to say, my mind was absolutely blown

8:30

that women would choose bare over men. But

8:32

it made me realize that I have no

8:34

clue what women go through on a daily

8:37

basis. I am truly shook. I was like,

8:39

okay, simple. All you have to do is

8:41

say, I didn't see it like that. I

8:43

mean, it's the equivalent of me being like,

8:45

Rabia, you don't get harassed at the airport

8:47

when you wear your hijab. I've never been

8:49

with you at the airport when you... That

8:51

is, I don't get harassed when I wear

8:53

a scarf. I don't get harassed. So you

8:55

could all wear a scarf on my head

8:57

and I won't get harassed. How

8:59

can you just dismiss someone's trauma? It is

9:02

wild. Anyway, Dennis and our friend, Billy White

9:04

from St. Louis, there were a lot of

9:06

guys popping in there and giving their two

9:08

cents and fighting the good fight. Has any

9:10

woman picked a man? Has any woman said,

9:12

I'll take a man over bare? Oh yeah,

9:15

there are some things. Yeah, oh, absolutely. What

9:17

an adventure. What a time to be alive,

9:19

Rabia. I tell you, I do have a

9:21

really quick update from a case that we

9:23

covered, I think two times on this show.

9:26

It's not much information, but it definitely is

9:29

an update before we go into your story. We

9:31

recently reported about the

9:33

devastating and sad and

9:35

tragic murder of 13-year-old

9:37

Madeleine Soto from Florida.

9:41

And there is an update

9:43

in that case. So her

9:45

mom's boyfriend, Stephon Stearns, has

9:47

officially been indicted on first-degree

9:49

murder charges for killing Madeleine.

9:52

Now remember, this is in addition

9:55

to his 60 other charges of

9:57

being in possession of child abuse.

10:00

sex abuse material that were found on

10:02

his phone and computer and he did

10:04

have a pretrial hearing on Monday. We're

10:06

recording this on Monday so it was

10:08

a week ago. He did

10:11

not show up for that but even though he wasn't

10:13

there his attorney filed his

10:16

plea which is not guilty.

10:18

Shocking. So since he

10:20

waived his appearance on Monday the judge

10:22

did set the start of his trial

10:25

to be July 16th and

10:27

they have yet to decide if that

10:29

case will be a death penalty case or

10:31

not. So not much in

10:34

mind of the in terms of

10:36

a lot of information but he

10:38

has been officially indicted nothing that

10:40

was surprising to anyone that was

10:42

following this horrific sad unacceptable case

10:44

and also I'm waiting for the

10:46

mom to be brought up on

10:48

charges too for that matter. So

10:50

yeah I don't know what the

10:53

mom's complicity and actually

10:55

hurting Madeline is but I feel

10:57

like they've got this guy dead to rights. I mean like

11:00

this he got they have video of him getting rid of

11:02

her. We talked about what was found in his

11:04

phone. Right exactly and this guy had previously

11:06

molested little kids. I mean like he shouldn't

11:08

have ever been out. He had been sexually

11:10

assaulting Madeline since she was 11 and that

11:13

is right all there in his phone. So

11:15

we'll keep you updated but that trial will

11:17

set to start in July and I hope

11:19

that baby girl gets justice. Good luck to

11:21

that lawyer. Good luck to that lawyer. I

11:23

mean you know what here's my bet. My

11:25

bet is that they're entering a plea of

11:27

not guilty to see if the state will

11:29

offer them an actual plea deal and they

11:31

don't actually go to trial. They cannot win

11:33

this trial. I see no way. No no no

11:36

no no. It's a done deal. I just want

11:38

justice to be served and I want that man

11:40

put in a bucket and dropped in the ocean.

11:42

What? What did I say? That might be too good

11:44

for me. Yeah. Rabia

11:47

I love you dearly but I

11:49

have a new best friend. Oh.

11:51

I've spent more time with Shopify

11:54

these past two weeks than I

11:56

have spent with you. We launched

11:58

a bunch of awesome Rabia. and

12:00

Ellen merch and Shopify was there with

12:02

me every step of the way. I

12:04

cannot stress how user friendly it is.

12:07

I get so anxious about hitting the

12:09

wrong button and doing the wrong thing.

12:11

All of that is made so easy

12:13

with Shopify. Shopify helps you sell everywhere

12:16

because they have an all-in-one commerce platform

12:18

and they have an in-person POS system.

12:20

So whatever you're selling and wherever you're

12:22

selling it, Shopify totally has you covered.

12:24

And if you're somebody who understands what

12:27

it's like to sell online, a lot

12:29

of folks browse, they put stuff in

12:31

their carts, they walk away, but Shopify

12:33

helps turn browsers into buyers with the

12:35

internet's best converting checkout up to 36%

12:37

better compared to other leading commerce platforms. So

12:40

12:46

12:48

case now to grow your business no matter what

12:51

stage you're in. shopify.com/solve the

12:53

case. Let's hear that

12:55

sound. At

12:58

Amika Insurance, we know

13:00

it's more than a life policy. It's

13:03

about the promise and the responsibility

13:06

that comes with being a new

13:08

parent, being there day and night,

13:13

and building a plan for tomorrow, today.

13:17

For the ones you'll always look out for, trust

13:20

Amika Life Insurance. Amika.

13:24

Empathy is our best policy.

13:35

All right. Well, speaking of dead to rights, this

13:37

case feels a little open and shut to

13:39

me, but right now it's under investigation,

13:41

which I'm a Michael Miller. Yeah, that's

13:43

the case I presented to you, but

13:45

that's great. We will have a lot

13:47

of information. Let's talk about this very

13:49

layered. It has been an onion just

13:52

this weekend. Oh, wow. Has it unfolded

13:54

every day? There's more information coming forward,

13:56

especially because her family is speaking friends

13:58

are speaking. There's affidavits being done. filed

14:00

yesterday by siblings. There's a lot that's

14:02

happening, but the basics of it, just

14:04

to get everyone on the same page,

14:06

is that on April 27th, just like

14:09

a couple weeks ago, the body of

14:11

30-year-old Micah Miller of Myrtle Beach,

14:13

South Carolina, was found about an hour

14:15

away from home at Lumber State Park

14:17

in North Carolina. What we know for

14:20

sure from police statements is that her

14:22

death came from an apparent gunshot wound. That's

14:24

all that the authorities have said. They have

14:27

not said... To the back of the

14:29

head. Why where? They have not said that either. However, a

14:31

family member made some statement or something, said

14:33

that the gunshot wound was to the head.

14:35

The back of the head. Apparently, the back

14:37

of the head. The police apparently have not

14:39

said that. Now, Micah was the wife of

14:42

a pastor who clearly had a very rocky

14:44

relationship and she had previously

14:46

filed for separation numerous times.

14:48

She then filed for divorce

14:50

this last October. She apparently

14:52

withdrew that filing. The case was dismissed

14:54

in February and that was around the time.

14:56

She also had moved out of state and

14:58

then she told people and she had moved to

15:00

Kansas and then was like, my husband wants to

15:02

reconcile and she came back to South Carolina.

15:05

In February, around the same time the

15:07

case was dismissed, Micah was admitted for

15:09

some psychiatric treatment at a mental health

15:11

facility. Against her will. I

15:13

haven't seen that. I mean, I've heard

15:16

it. I don't know exactly whether or

15:18

not, but according to her siblings, her

15:20

husband, his name is Pastor John Paul

15:22

Miller. He took that opportunity to basically

15:25

take all her personal belongings, wipe out

15:27

her phone, wipe off her laptop, get

15:29

rid of evidence that she had been

15:31

collecting to prove that

15:33

she was abused by him and that there

15:35

is violence in the relationship and that she

15:37

was scared of him. So she was gathering

15:39

evidence and when she was released, she

15:42

did contact a divorce attorney and

15:44

started the process again and apparently there

15:46

was going to be a hearing. There was

15:48

a temporary hearing date set for April

15:50

23rd. Spousal support papers were filed on

15:52

JP, the pastor on the

15:55

24th and they had an actual Relief

15:57

Hearing for June 5th. So that was going

15:59

to be coming. Now. She

16:01

served him the papers on April twenty

16:03

fifth. that was two days prior to

16:05

her death. She also served him with

16:07

a no contact order. That is true,

16:09

she got a restraining order to days

16:12

before she was sound right murder forty

16:14

eight hours beforehand. So there's a couple

16:16

of posts she's made on on line

16:18

that I thought we could watch together,

16:20

and in one, on March eighteenth, she

16:22

posted a video on Facebook where she

16:24

alludes to the discourse is going through.

16:26

Then on the twenty second, she posts

16:29

as it in which she basically. Offers

16:31

support to people who are.

16:33

You know that comes massive violent, so

16:36

abused as abuse and. You

16:38

are a surprise of Christ. And

16:42

mother was says that he

16:44

took always easy to sink.

16:47

As for you didn't you

16:49

didn't believe that life slavery.

16:53

And bondage. And.

16:58

Pain as you can put a price

17:00

on fees. So you know she is

17:02

insinuating without directly making allegations. However, just yesterday

17:04

I believe that was to her siblings and

17:07

she was one of five siblings to her

17:09

siblings of it It affidavit in which they

17:11

both said that she had not just hold

17:13

them as she told other that's easier for

17:16

her life of her husband sat she did

17:18

know if you can even make it to

17:20

the divorce alive She told her sister if

17:23

I end up with a bullet in my

17:25

head it's him Where I want you to

17:27

tell the part of the sorry about the

17:29

crazy citizens and. Church because I'm sure that's

17:32

Faria research. Oh yeah, well.

17:34

on April twenty eighth, the

17:36

day after is beautiful and

17:39

she is. Absolutely beautiful,

17:41

beautiful, And. Is. Beautiful wife

17:43

was found. John Paul preached

17:45

to sermons every than just

17:47

stop talking about Jesus and

17:49

all the cool stuff that

17:52

Jesus is Dan laughing shell

17:54

game and at the end

17:56

of the sermon he made

17:58

this statement I'm going. Have you

18:00

stand up and I'm going to make advancement and arm

18:02

as to be announcement I'm going to ask that you.

18:05

Have. Believed. Church quietly and

18:07

and don't talk about the announcement. Year.

18:09

The building basically can't see august. I'm.

18:15

Performing the Nelson Also want to say that on.

18:18

My. Request to use that You will continue to

18:20

come to church and serve and give. Arm.

18:23

But. An exit in a little bits. I don't want to

18:25

have taken more bit of a break. I don't want have

18:27

to worry about the church or break. maybe a few days

18:30

of the weeks. I don't know. I'm

18:32

I got a call late last night. I was

18:34

this past. Year it

18:36

was it was self induced and it was

18:38

out of the North Carolina. He basically

18:40

said that our his eyes to leave. I

18:43

want you guys to talk about it. Bothers.

18:45

To serve as a. Control Freak.

18:48

Total Control. Not it's

18:50

here and he goes to to sermons.

18:52

The free gets to this and I'll

18:54

do some. It's any is joking and

18:57

laughing. You know that's what sermons are

18:59

Rate Preachers that are really charismatic and

19:01

everything. so that was super weird. To

19:03

be clear, police have not confirmed anything

19:06

regarding his statement. He is not in

19:08

custody or anything. Here's a thing though.

19:10

the police have not once said that

19:12

it was self inflicted. She's the only

19:15

person to say that he examines. Had

19:17

a more than once you give an interview

19:19

rabies our local Nbc affiliate into the same

19:21

thing. yeah with a police Have not said

19:24

that at all. Yeah, so I don't know

19:26

how far you went down this rabbit hole.

19:28

By I mean it perpetuates it snowballs by

19:30

the hour. including an affidavit by her family

19:32

that said she was very much living in

19:35

fear. They said that j he had people

19:37

following her, keeping track of where she went,

19:39

had a tracker on her car, and even

19:41

admit that in the summer is like I

19:44

have to keep track of my life. You

19:46

need to keep. Track of your why? Oh

19:48

no I don't have to. This is a

19:50

sermon he has he gave earlier right he has

19:52

given incriminating serve. Yemen's all along dismantled on

19:54

himself as a moon as a dead to rights

19:56

he has telling on himself since I would

19:58

say marred society men. We fell on themselves.

20:01

Just give them a microphone or a keyboard and

20:03

they're going to tell on themselves every time

20:05

he gives a sermon which talks about basically A

20:07

he admits that he went to her phone and

20:09

said you know, basically you're going to her phone

20:12

one two years a phony. He also spend so

20:14

much time in his sermons could have bad

20:16

melting her in a way like in this particular

20:18

a clip. Take a listen as he talks about

20:20

how it goes is why son and then he

20:23

says as much as eighteen different people telling

20:25

my wife if she wanted to talk about

20:27

me and our marriage than feel free to reach

20:29

out. And two. Of them were met. My wife

20:31

one of the hospitals are you know what your

20:33

phone and I counted over the past two years

20:35

eighteen people who are texture and said if you

20:38

ever want to talk about your husband to talk

20:40

to me and say anything and I'll keep it

20:42

confidential. Some I were

20:44

you, What? some ios as the other spouse

20:46

into those eighty were. Men and then he

20:49

goes on say what kind of person

20:51

talks about their spouse and who wants

20:53

to talk about your spouse? Tea sets

20:55

are applied. She has his mental health

20:57

issues that she is just are either

20:59

over know he talks the turbo mental

21:01

health This despises diabolical bottles a stupid

21:04

oh yeah they always are. Other thing

21:06

to note is that when Michael was

21:08

fourteen years old son living in Myrtle

21:10

Beach and she attended the youth group

21:12

at Solid Rock Church now John Paul

21:14

was twenty eight at the time and

21:17

he groped her. From the time

21:19

she was fourteen he was married

21:21

to his first wife who they

21:23

share five children but John Paul.

21:25

If you look at his criminal

21:27

history I'll give you to set

21:29

up or I'll give you the

21:31

highlights and lowlights. Robbie I intend

21:33

to: Counts of knowingly damaging property

21:35

aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

21:38

two counts of possession of liquor

21:40

by a minor possession of consumed

21:42

with our by a minor possession

21:44

of cannabis contributing to the delinquency

21:46

have a child domestic battery. domestic

21:48

battery with physical contact assault and

21:50

battery of a high and aggravated

21:52

beach or two counts of that

21:55

being on the premises after warning

21:57

or refusing to leave those are

21:59

his There is more

22:01

to this story that is alleged

22:03

from Micah. Now he

22:06

divorced his first wife and married

22:08

Micah when she became of age.

22:10

Well, they brought their relationship public.

22:12

He married Micah when she was

22:14

23 and she was 37 and

22:17

she became stepmom to his five kids.

22:20

And it is said that

22:22

he would emotionally torture her.

22:25

This guy was also a sexual

22:28

deviant. He would force her

22:30

to watch him have sex with other

22:32

women. Wait, where is this from? I

22:34

didn't hear this. Oh yeah. There is

22:36

some things that honestly are actually too

22:39

awful for me to say. He slashed

22:41

her tires, put tracking devices. She

22:44

would go to friends houses and

22:46

sleep on the couch because she

22:48

was so terrified about him. But

22:50

did you hear about her finding out about the

22:53

money that he embezzled? I know that she had

22:55

learned that he was moving assets into the name

22:57

of the church like their personal assets like she

22:59

couldn't touch anything. I don't know about

23:01

the embezzlement. Yeah, so he was embezzling funds

23:04

which she found out about. And

23:06

when she found out, she found out

23:08

he once again admitted her to a

23:10

mental hospital. When she got out, she

23:13

said to her friend who went on

23:15

record and said, quote, I am not

23:17

mentally ill. I am not sick. I

23:20

do not want to harm myself and he is

23:22

going to make it look like I killed myself.

23:24

He is going to frame me. One day I

23:26

know he is going to do it. So

23:28

much to unpack, but I have one more thing to tell

23:31

you about. Remember that page that I

23:33

talked about a couple months ago? Are we dating

23:35

the same guy? Oh, yeah. Okay.

23:38

Well, on April 1st, John Paul popped

23:40

up on a post on that page

23:42

from a woman who had been chatting

23:45

with him on a dating app. Oh

23:47

my God. But this

23:49

whole time, he has had an

23:51

alleged mistress by the name of

23:54

Susie Skinner. She was seen three

23:56

days after she was found at

23:58

a sushi restaurant in a mall

24:01

the very next day also. But do

24:03

you know what happened to Susie Skinner's

24:05

husband? I heard that he drowned

24:07

three years ago. He was a quadriplegic activist

24:09

and he drowned in swimming pool three years

24:11

ago. In an alleged suicide.

24:14

Oh really? I didn't

24:16

know if it was alleged suicide. Maybe

24:18

it was just an accident. Yeah. They said that

24:20

it was. But I know nobody was there

24:22

at the time. A suicide. That's what

24:25

they said. Him and Susie

24:27

who apparently they have been dating for years. Can I

24:29

read the statement she made the other day? Yes I

24:31

did. Yes. Go ahead and read that. Okay. She goes,

24:33

he is my friend. His wife died four days ago

24:36

and he had no one to eat with. Really? He

24:38

asked some people to sit with him but no one

24:40

could go. So when he asked if I could go

24:42

I went. We've been friends for years. It wasn't a

24:44

date. People also said he killed his wife but we

24:46

think she called the police before she did that and

24:48

said she bought a gun and wanted to kill herself

24:51

and wanted to make sure they could ping her phone

24:53

so her family could find the body. Then she did

24:55

it. She has attempted suicide before. She is schizophrenic,

24:57

bipolar and has dependent personality disorder. She put

24:59

herself off her medication starting in December against

25:02

her doctor's orders and JP's wishes and even

25:04

texted her family to tell them she was

25:06

doing it. It's the longest she has been

25:08

off lithium since she was diagnosed in 2017.

25:10

A few weeks ago she threw a belt

25:12

out of the car while driving on the highway

25:15

because she thought it was a snake. She was

25:17

recently playing chess alone which by the way people

25:19

do and talking to herself and when they

25:21

asked her what she was doing she said play

25:23

chess with a demon. She was very not extremely

25:25

mentally ill. And the people who

25:27

post things like this on social media haven't spoken to

25:29

her or JP in years. JP you have

25:32

a friend? What about your kids? What about your mom?

25:34

What about your brother? What about your sister? What about

25:36

your cousin? You had to go with this woman that

25:38

is alleged that

25:42

you've been having an affair with for all these years.

25:44

You don't have family to go to the mall to

25:46

go to a seizure restaurant? How about takeout my man?

25:48

How about you get some takeout and you grieve with

25:50

your children who just lost their

25:52

stepmom? How about you find solace

25:55

other place than at a fucking

25:57

mall sushi restaurant with the woman

25:59

that you are allegedly having

26:01

an affair with. None of

26:03

that tracks for me. Also, how does she know how long

26:05

she's been off her meds? Do you know what meds I'm

26:08

on? I don't know what meds you're on. No. How

26:10

does she know how long she has been

26:12

on or off lithium? I am not discounting

26:14

the fact that this woman might have suffered

26:17

from any kind of mental illness. Honestly, who

26:19

doesn't at this point? Really. Who's okay? Raise

26:21

your hand if you're okay. All I'm saying

26:23

is, just because you say it doesn't mean

26:25

it's true. And you don't know

26:27

her life. And she probably was struggling. It

26:29

could be that JP gave her all this

26:31

information. She meets him for sushi and he's like,

26:33

let me tell you, she hasn't been on her lithium since December.

26:36

Maybe. I don't know. I don't know what she's getting

26:38

that information. How does she know that? But also, yeah,

26:40

she probably would need lithium from being groomed at the

26:43

age of 14. He sexually

26:45

assaulted her. Rabia, the things that

26:47

he allegedly did because one of

26:49

her family members found a diary

26:51

that she was keeping. It wasn't

26:53

like a dear diary. Today, it

26:55

was a catalog. Keeping record. It

26:57

was a very well thought out

26:59

catalog of the things he had

27:01

done to her or made her

27:03

do. These explicit sex acts that he

27:05

made her perform or made her watch.

27:08

It's really bad. It's really bad. I

27:10

honestly, like coming from you, I feel

27:12

very uncomfortable even saying the things that

27:14

he made her do. But it is

27:17

there. It is on the internet. So

27:19

how on earth do you think this

27:21

man thinks he is going to get

27:23

away with this? That's what I don't

27:26

understand. I mean, first of all, he

27:28

said he's telling himself there's nothing to

27:30

say. I mean, like she got dressed

27:32

for work and left for work that day

27:34

and then ends up at this part. She paid

27:36

her car payment. She retained an attorney that cost

27:38

money. She's not doing all this. So she can

27:40

you know, and she has told people repeatedly. By

27:42

the way, this has happened so much in these

27:44

kinds of situations where women who are victims of

27:47

domestic violence end up dead that they have told

27:49

people if something happens to me, it's him. That

27:51

means I'm not going to do anything to myself.

27:53

That's what that means. They're not telling their family.

27:55

I am in such a despondent condition that I

27:57

might do something. They're saying I will not. It

27:59

will be him. She's not trying to frame this

28:01

guy from beyond the grave, okay? Right. Exactly.

28:03

I just feel like, again,

28:05

it comes back to the bear versus

28:07

man. Why are we not

28:10

listening to women when they speak?

28:12

She made videos. She told her

28:14

family. She had journal entries. She

28:16

was brought into mental hospitals against

28:18

her will. Nobody has said she's

28:20

schizophrenic. Nobody has said she's bipolar.

28:22

Which, it is okay if she

28:25

is those things. Nobody has come

28:27

forward. Just because you say it

28:29

doesn't make it true. Other than him.

28:31

He's the only one. Exactly. He's the only one.

28:33

Here's the thing. The police are keeping tight-lipped about

28:36

this, which is exactly what they should do. It's

28:38

really good. The family, friends have been

28:40

talking about it, and all of them clearly

28:42

believe that this is a suspicious death, and

28:44

that Maika did not do this to herself.

28:46

And I suspect that we will very soon,

28:49

maybe a week or so, probably see an arrest in this

28:51

case. There's no way this... And he actually, in one of

28:53

his sermons... This is so crazy. A

28:56

friend of mine that's a pastor called me last

28:58

week, and one day on a

29:01

Monday, his wife told him that he was

29:03

the greatest husband in the world. That

29:05

she loved her life, and she was

29:07

so appreciative. The very next day something

29:09

happened, and she left. And he didn't know where

29:12

she went. She just left. Left

29:15

all of her things. Like everything she had, everything she

29:17

worked for, everything. He didn't know what to think. He

29:19

had no idea what was going on. So

29:21

he hired a third party service to find her,

29:25

where she was living, and that kind of stuff.

29:27

And they did. And last

29:29

week they turned in all of their evidence to

29:32

his lawyer, and he discovered that she had left

29:34

him for one of his staff members. The

29:36

pastor in the clip was like, Oh, you know,

29:39

so my friend calls me, and so he hired

29:41

a third party to keep an eye on her,

29:43

and that third party came back. And I'm like,

29:45

this is part of the way he's trying to

29:47

slander his wife. That third party came back and

29:49

showed my friend the pastor all this evidence that

29:51

his wife had been involved in an affair with

29:53

another young man from the church. A young man

29:55

who he had taught the

29:57

scripture and raised and groomed and all this

29:59

shit. devastating and the pastor threw

30:01

up three times and then he dry he couldn't

30:03

believe what his wife was doing to him but

30:06

he still forgave her. Everybody knows these are allegations

30:08

you're making against your own wife and pretending it's

30:10

somebody else but also you told on yourself because

30:12

you said you hired a third party to do

30:14

it but he's a total narcissist. He can't stop

30:17

talking about himself. I mean that's the thing. Listen

30:19

we say this all the time you can't gauge

30:21

someone's emotion in a state of trauma. I'm talking

30:23

about pre trauma. Pre trauma I mean like before

30:26

she was even killed before she even died I

30:28

mean the shit he has said from the

30:30

pulpit alone and all the evidence by

30:32

the way JP you think you can

30:34

wipe a person's phone. There's forensic tech

30:36

teams that can retrieve that shit my

30:38

dear. Yeah. So good luck with that.

30:40

He also did that with her. He

30:42

tried to wipe her iCloud. He tried

30:44

to wipe her Facebook all that stuff

30:46

but how on earth can he

30:49

get up there just the tone of

30:51

his voice. I'm trying to understand let

30:53

me go into the place that I

30:55

don't like to go which is giving

30:57

someone the benefit of my teeny tiny

30:59

doubt. Let's say he's so

31:02

traumatized right. Like he is just

31:04

a robot. He's going on fumes.

31:07

He's going on adrenaline. How

31:09

do you present to your

31:11

congregation and not even so

31:13

much as crack your voice.

31:16

Yeah. It was a self inflicted. It sounds

31:18

like his bunny died. But canceling your sermon

31:20

that day. How about being like I need

31:23

like the assistant pastor to step in today.

31:25

Right. The fact that he went through his

31:27

whole workday perfectly fine not mentioning her and

31:29

then throwing it in at the end as

31:32

he instructs people to talk about it get

31:34

him quite leave after this psycho

31:36

quietly leave don't talk about it. I'm

31:39

sorry they all knew her. She performed.

31:41

She sang. She did all kinds of

31:43

things and you wanted to quietly leave

31:45

and not talk about it. It's unbelievable.

31:48

A family member of the pastor JP

31:50

said that reported that JP and his

31:52

dad they're both treated for bipolar disorder

31:54

and even in his older son. I

31:57

mean like this is why the dad

31:59

is very. shady too. Yes, his

32:01

dad, I think his name is Wayne or

32:03

something. This January, JP's oldest son hit his

32:05

wife over the head with a glass bottle.

32:08

I mean like this is why abuse is

32:10

generational, right? Like because this is how kids

32:12

learn it and then the mental health issues

32:14

that come along with it. I mean like

32:16

so this whole family's got some issues. Oh,

32:18

he by the way also deleted the church's

32:21

Facebook and website I think, but

32:23

he did give an interview which I'm

32:25

shocked at. Well so does Stefan, what's

32:27

his toes? Madeleine, so does you know

32:30

mom's boyfriend or whatever.

32:32

So does Chris White. So

32:34

does Chris White. You know I have to

32:36

stand by what I say that you don't know

32:38

what someone's gonna do in grief. You know, Rabia,

32:40

I had a live show in

32:42

Atlanta the night my stepdad died

32:45

and I knew he was at

32:47

the end. I knew he only had a couple days,

32:49

48 hours, 24 hours.

32:51

We had two shows in Atlanta and after the

32:54

first show, I got the news

32:56

that he passed and I went

32:58

on with the second show because what

33:01

do you do? I was going to fly home

33:03

the next day, go to the funeral. I just

33:05

you know kind of went into a fugue state

33:07

and did it but it was expected.

33:09

It was... I was gonna say you had some

33:11

mental emotional preparation for it. Yeah, I was on

33:13

the phone with my family. They were giving me

33:15

updates. I knew the end was near and

33:18

I knew actually either way

33:20

the next morning I was flying to

33:22

California. We were in Atlanta. I knew the next day I

33:24

was flying to California because I knew he was going to

33:26

be in his final days or whatever.

33:28

So I do understand closing off

33:31

those parts of your emotions and going

33:33

through with something but this was a

33:35

tragic unexpected accident. I cannot wrap my

33:38

head around it. Yeah, look he might

33:40

make the argument look we were already

33:42

separated. She was falling for a divorce.

33:45

We were like we were not emotionally

33:47

connected. I had girlfriends on the side. You

33:49

know what I mean? Like I... the whole thing

33:51

was eerie and just the sermons leading up to

33:53

her death were I think even more telling than

33:55

that day. And he was on dating apps. They

33:57

had his pictures. He was on dating apps. It

34:00

is truly minute by minute that things

34:02

are unraveling. So please follow this case.

34:04

And I just want justice. Well, the

34:06

question that this raises for me is

34:08

she was telling, sharing these things with

34:11

family, friends, maybe other members of the

34:13

congregation, the 18 people he identified from

34:15

her phone. She's telling people around her,

34:17

she's not safe. She's getting the restraining

34:19

order. She's moved out. She's done all

34:21

the right things. How is

34:23

a woman supposed to fucking save her life? What is

34:25

going to protect her? How? What

34:28

else could she have done, I guess, is the question, like

34:30

in a case like this? I think he probably hired

34:32

somebody to do this. Well, maybe it was him directly.

34:34

I don't know. In that case,

34:36

even moving away, like that person could

34:39

find you, like how you protect yourself.

34:41

Well, everyone, we will keep you updated,

34:44

you know, on our Facebook and our

34:46

social media if we hear anything. I

34:48

hope justice for Micah. I believe that

34:50

hashtag is trending. It is. Or

34:53

their poor family that has to just

34:55

dissect this and hear bits of information

34:57

that they might not have even known.

35:00

Because even though she did share bits of

35:02

her abuse and what she went through with

35:04

her family, there's always some things that are

35:06

just too shameful to share. And those were

35:08

the things that they found sort of in

35:10

this diary that she put together.

35:13

I'm surprised he didn't get his hands

35:15

on that diary. Yeah, I think it

35:17

was on the computer. I could be

35:19

wrong, but yeah, somewhere. We

35:23

are so excited to partner with

35:25

Nurex. It's a digital healthcare platform,

35:27

and Nurex provides treatment and care

35:29

that is personalized to you. What

35:31

I love about Nurex is it's a

35:34

care model that's designed to grow with women.

35:36

It's very focused on women's health needs, all

35:38

kinds of health needs, from birth control to

35:40

wrinkles to dark spot treatment. Nurex understands women's

35:42

health care journeys are unique, and they change

35:44

over time. I mean, my concerns now are we're not

35:46

my concerns 10 years ago. Do you know Nurex offers

35:48

more than 50 birth control

35:50

formulas? That means the pill, the patch,

35:52

the ring, and they'll work with you

35:55

to find the best treatment for your

35:57

needs. You can skip an in-person appointment.

36:00

a medical consultation anytime, day or night,

36:02

and a NURX provider who is licensed

36:04

in your state will review your

36:07

health history and if it's medically

36:09

appropriate, they will provide treatment for you.

36:11

So thanks to NURX for sponsoring this

36:13

podcast. Taking control of your reproductive

36:15

36:26

Results may vary. Not offered

36:28

in every state, medications prescribed

36:30

only if clinically appropriate and

36:32

consultation is required. Well

36:41

we can continue this rage

36:44

train because I have

36:46

a story of a former police

36:48

officer then turned school

36:51

resource officer by the name

36:53

of Elias Swayzar. So

36:56

Elias Swayzar was,

36:58

this is in Eugene, Oregon

37:01

and what happened was he was a

37:03

police officer

37:06

and then he was hired

37:08

by the school district when

37:11

he was fired due to

37:13

his allegation and investigation behind

37:15

the sexual assaults of

37:17

a 13 year old girl. This

37:20

all happened in 2019 and

37:23

he was fired from the police

37:25

force. However he also had some

37:27

minor crimes in his back pocket

37:30

so it's very curious to me

37:32

how he even got hired to be a

37:34

police officer. He had brushes with the law

37:36

in North Dakota. In 2008 at

37:39

his university, there was a fight on

37:42

campus and it was said that he

37:44

was waving a knife around. He was

37:46

caught for trespassing. Anyway he had a

37:48

demi criminal record so I'm

37:51

not quite sure how Washington didn't like

37:53

Google past the Pacific

37:55

Northwest and find out that he had

37:57

charges in North Dakota but here we

37:59

are. So this child's

38:02

rapist went on to

38:05

join the police force. When he was

38:07

fired from there, he started working at

38:09

a school, which that's also perfect. So

38:12

two women were found dead. One

38:14

was the mother of his two

38:16

older children, and they had

38:18

a history of domestic violence, scads of

38:21

911 calls, including an

38:23

argument and an altercation that

38:25

happened at their son's elementary

38:27

school. And then the

38:29

other child that was found

38:32

was his 17-year-old girlfriend, who

38:34

was the mother to his

38:36

one-year-old son, Ramon. Her name

38:39

was Angelica Santos. Authorities

38:41

went to his home to serve him with

38:43

the warrant, and that is where

38:46

everything went down. So he kidnapped

38:48

his son, the son that

38:50

was from the child. The 17-year-old's son, yeah.

38:54

The 17-year-old, and he

38:56

went on the run. There was a chase.

39:00

They were in search of this suspect, and

39:02

they saw him driving southbound. This was about

39:04

2.40 p.m. He

39:07

lost control of his car

39:09

and exchanged gunfire with the

39:12

troopers. And then

39:14

he pulled the car

39:16

over, and he

39:18

fatally shot himself following the

39:20

police chase in Oregon. Thank

39:22

goodness the one-year-old child is

39:25

okay. So now Angelica, his

39:27

girlfriend, is gone. He is

39:29

gone. Baby Ramon does not

39:31

have parents to speak of.

39:33

He also killed his ex-wife,

39:35

and now he is gone

39:38

and will face no repercussions

39:40

for the trail of

39:42

trauma he has left in his

39:44

wake, including the child,

39:47

which it's – let's be real, I doubt

39:49

that it was just one. But the thing

39:52

that really perplexed me when I

39:54

was just looking into this story

39:56

was how were these people put in

39:58

positions of power? working

40:00

basically security or they called it like

40:02

resource security or something at a school.

40:05

At school yeah. Around children. I don't

40:07

know because my

40:09

mother couldn't pick up my kids without like three kinds

40:11

of clearance. I don't understand

40:13

it. Yeah they take my fingerprints just to

40:15

pick her up for like a doctor's appointment.

40:18

Yeah exactly. I don't understand how good they...

40:21

but then you I mean we talked earlier

40:23

today when we recorded our other episode about

40:25

a child like Khalif Browder who

40:27

goes to prison for years because of a backpack but then you

40:29

got guys like this working at a

40:31

school. Guys like Madeleine Stepfault or you know

40:33

that guy. I don't know. I don't understand

40:36

but I have to say that the

40:38

17 year old you know the mother of his

40:40

child that he murdered it's just so heartbreaking. That

40:43

poor baby. What is very

40:45

eerie I was gonna say

40:48

interesting it's not interesting it's just

40:50

terrifying. He was due in court

40:52

on Monday April 22nd on two

40:54

rape allegations. Oh my god. One

40:56

of them was his girlfriend. So

40:59

just amazing to me

41:01

that these dangerous men

41:03

are given jobs with

41:05

badges and weapons

41:07

and access to children. Children.

41:10

What are we doing? To

41:13

your point exactly. A little boy

41:15

like Khalif Browder sits behind

41:17

bars for three years over a

41:19

stolen backpack. What are we doing?

41:21

Everything wrong. You know I

41:24

don't remember where you said it. You

41:26

said it in a past episode but

41:28

when I look up cases to cover

41:30

for about damn crime I have to

41:32

search for something that isn't man

41:35

kills woman, man kills wife, man

41:37

kills lover. It is the same

41:39

iteration over and yeah. And again

41:41

I say to the people who

41:43

are in my comment section calling

41:45

me toxic, calling me a disgusting

41:47

feminist, calling me an old cat

41:49

lady because I want to hold

41:51

men accountable. Do you not read? Do

41:54

you not have the news? Send

41:56

me the bear kills woman story. I want to see

41:58

those stories. Send those to me. You know

42:00

what someone said to me and I linked a bunch

42:02

of links, someone said no woman ever gets killed in

42:04

the woods. I linked six

42:06

stories. The first six stories I

42:09

googled, I just linked it to

42:11

him. Oh my god. But they're

42:13

put in these positions and not

42:15

protected little girls, 13-year-old girls, 17-year-old

42:17

girls, older women. It doesn't end

42:19

and they are people who are

42:21

trusted in the community. He was

42:23

a resource officer, whatever the fuck

42:25

that job is. Yeah, we know

42:27

that we don't need resource officers in schools. It's

42:30

a whole other conversation. But you know what, I'm

42:32

glad he's dead. Because if he wasn't, if

42:34

he didn't end up in prison, he would

42:36

just continue to hurt other girls. He would

42:39

just continue to hurt a lot of other

42:41

people. And he didn't want to be held

42:43

accountable because everybody knows what happens to child

42:45

sex offenders in prison. So I feel bad

42:47

for those babies and the

42:49

three kids. Angelica, listen, she got

42:51

pregnant at 16 so

42:53

I don't know how long they were

42:55

together before that. But anyway, he's dead.

42:57

Good riddance. There's two very

42:59

depressing stories of domestic violence. Turn

43:03

to murder. Well, do you want me to

43:05

tell you something good? Yeah, please. I

43:07

have something good. This

43:11

is a cute story. I thought it was a fun story because

43:13

you know right now it is springtime and I'm in my

43:16

gardening phase which perplexes you but it is

43:18

what it is. I can't stop. I

43:20

can't stop going to the garden store and

43:22

buying plants. And you know, my algorithm is

43:24

insane because it's encouraging me to turn my

43:26

backyard into a food forest which might happen.

43:28

But the HOA is going to come after

43:30

me. So I'm going to have to move.

43:32

And yeah, this story caught my eye because

43:34

I just think it's adorable. It comes from

43:36

a little Vermont countryside community and it's about

43:38

this husband and wife, Natalie Gileard and John

43:41

Yacow. So they had two and a half

43:43

acres. They got sick of mowing their lawn.

43:45

That's a lot of brass to mow. And

43:47

so they decided during the pandemic, she had

43:49

lost Natalie had lost her job and John

43:51

had time on his hands because of the

43:53

pandemic that they were to take two and

43:55

a half acres and turn it into a wildflower

43:58

meadow. So they spread. wildflower

44:00

seeds across two and a half

44:34

I just thought it was a sweet story,

44:37

and didn't cost a lot of money because

44:39

it was like you just scatter wildflower seed

44:41

and it will take wildflowers.

45:04

You don't actually have to like fertilize them and

45:06

do all this stuff. Should

45:08

we go and run through the

45:10

wildflower meadow naked, Rabia? If we've

45:12

got our astropro, yeah, sure. So

45:18

now people come to visit and they picnic there and they're

45:20

like, we want to turn our yard. Anyhow, I just thought

45:22

it was a sweet story, a sweet spring story,

45:24

and I read a lot about gardens and yards

45:26

lately. We need a little bit of

45:28

wildflower love, a little bit of color in

45:30

our life, a little bit of cultivating from

45:33

the earth. Rabia,

45:35

I love it when we have

45:37

a sponsor that I can just

45:39

blab about forever, and I am

45:41

such a fan of magnesium breakthrough.

45:43

Most magnesium supplements are only giving

45:46

you one to two forms of

45:48

magnesium. Magnesium breakthrough contains all seven

45:50

forms of magnesium. That's all designed

45:52

to calm your mind, help you

45:54

fall asleep, stay asleep. I had

45:56

no idea that I was so

45:58

bad at magnesiuming. I was so bad

46:00

at magnesiuming, and I'm not alone, because over 75% of

46:03

the population is in fact magnesium deficient.

46:05

And like Ellen, if you think you're

46:07

taking your magnesium, you're probably missing out

46:09

on at least five to six forms

46:12

of it. So nurture your mind and

46:14

body with this all natural, full spectrum

46:16

magnesium supplement. Go to biooptimizers.com/Robbia and Ellen

So go now to biooptimizers.com/Robbia

46:35

and Ellen. And don't be

46:37

magnesium deficient anymore. I don't

46:39

want that for you. Before

46:49

I give you my tell me something good,

46:51

someone asked about Charlotte. Tell them what you

46:54

sent me last night. Oh, I just sent

46:56

a- That bitch is punking us. Yeah, I

46:58

was like this bitch. I don't know what's

47:00

going on. Look, people who observers are like,

47:02

she's definitely rotund. It has been eight months

47:04

since we were- I think she had a

47:06

big bowl of pasta and she just feels

47:08

bad about it. Fuck

47:10

that thing, right? And listen, here's the thing. We

47:12

can't even put it on Charlotte. Charlotte was like,

47:15

I can't talk. It's everybody around. You know, I

47:17

have been that fat woman that people thought was

47:19

pregnant. It could just be that. It could

47:21

just be the folks running that aquarium have just

47:23

body shamed her. They have body shamed that starfish.

47:27

That's starfish. Get out of here, you chubby

47:29

starfish. They have body shamed her. They're like,

47:31

oh, don't worry. And Charlotte's like, I'm

47:33

carrying a little holiday weight, okay?

47:36

Just leave me alone. The winters are bleak. This

47:38

gestational period is like two to three

47:41

times the amount of a normal stinger ray

47:43

gestational period. She's not pregnant. She's

47:45

hungry. She likes carbs. Leave her

47:47

alone. Pressa asks a good question.

47:50

Are we sure she doesn't have a tumor? Y'all need

47:52

to take a closer look at Charlotte because I don't

47:54

think there's no babies in- No, but didn't, no, no,

47:56

no, that's not true. They had released like a sonogram

47:58

or ultrasound that showed like little- They

48:00

could have been anything. I'm calling fake news. It was pasta

48:02

in her tummy that they showed on the phone. What zoo

48:04

is she at? Honestly, I don't remember. Let me look it

48:06

up. We're gonna go. We're gonna go.

48:09

We're gonna demand answers. That's gonna be our first Rabia

48:11

and Ellen Solve the Case field trip. We're gonna be

48:13

like, give us answers. Where's the

48:15

Charlotte's baby? She's in North Carolina at

48:17

Henderson's Aquarium. We're going. All right,

48:20

I'm gonna round this about damn crime

48:22

off with some good news. Tell

48:24

me something good. I'm

48:28

from New York. Single

48:30

mom African Oz just went

48:32

viral for sharing her reaction

48:34

to the news that she

48:37

passed the bar on her

48:39

first attempt. She's a 30-year-old

48:41

mother who was formerly incarcerated.

48:44

And on Thursday of last week,

48:46

she documented her reaction. I passed.

48:49

I passed. I passed. I passed.

48:52

I passed. I passed. I passed.

48:55

I passed. I passed. She

48:58

goes, I passed. I passed. It

49:00

was so precious. But I

49:02

did want to share some statistics about

49:04

it because there are only 2% of

49:06

black women attorneys

49:09

in the US and less than

49:11

1% are formerly incarcerated. And

49:15

she said she always wanted to be

49:17

a lawyer. She grew up in a

49:19

low-income area, a single-parent household, and she

49:22

shares her charges. She was charged in

49:24

2011 for a gang-related conspiracy. She

49:28

pleaded guilty to conspiracy and

49:30

a weapons possession, both with

49:32

her felonies. And she was

49:35

sentenced under the New York

49:37

Youthful Offender Program. She served

49:39

six months on Rikers Island

49:41

with five years probation after

49:44

her release. And you

49:46

know, she says that despite her

49:48

circumstances, she's always advocated for herself,

49:50

for other people in the community.

49:53

And She said that she always knew that she wanted

49:55

to be a lawyer. It was always a skill that

49:57

she had and she always wanted to be a lawyer.

50:00

The go into the law and I

50:02

just want to say I do believe

50:04

in the power of social media and

50:06

I see videos like gangs have. ah

50:08

I see videos like that and I

50:10

just believe the Africa you know even

50:12

if she inspires one little black or

50:14

brown girl to follow their dreams no

50:16

matter what happens. and I thought it

50:18

well as she took the as you

50:20

pass was bar which state you know

50:22

New York. Or whatever. That's one

50:24

of the hardest bars in the country New

50:27

York entirely. Now for the bar On a

50:29

Saturday it is. On a first go.

50:31

and listen, it took me many times.

50:33

Okay, it's with me. Couples on yeah

50:35

and so I get a girl. it's

50:37

hard. I

50:40

just maybe someone out there is

50:43

no. Answer And I just wanna say

50:45

that all of us are ah Bnl

who like out really sad how Whitney passed and

52:01

52:03

has so much stuff to tell us. It's going to

52:16

52:18

I said was I have one request. I do not want

52:21

to see the Queen Beyonce on there and Ellen just, her

52:23

eyes will be like me. So

52:26

there's no guarantees for that. Also we have a Patreon,

52:28

which we talked about earlier. If you like hearing us

52:30

on About Damn Crime, you want to join us for

52:32

when we're recording with our amazing celebrity guests. You want

52:34

to do watch parties with us. We do all kinds

52:36

of fun. So we have tons of content on there.

same price that everyone paid for, I think

52:50

it's $19. You

52:52

can watch it live. A little hint. With Daisy

52:54

Egan. A lot of fun. A

52:57

little hint. Apparently there's like an hour worth

52:59

of pre-show that they didn't edit out. So

53:01

you got to fast forward for an hour

53:03

or something. We learned that. That's

53:05

the venue. The venue did that. We didn't

53:07

even know that. But we are just so

53:09

grateful that you're here. Please share

53:11

us on your social media. Tag us

53:13

53:17

iTunes if you haven't or Spotify or

53:19

Amazon and give us a five star

53:21

review. Give us lots of compliments. I

53:24

won't read them because I'm far too delicate. It

53:27

really does help us when people

53:29

are searching true crime because our show

53:31

is a little different. We're just a talk show. We

53:33

talk about stuff and we have amazing guests.

53:36

And anything else, Rabia? No, I think that's

53:38

it for now. I mean, we have some amazing guests coming

53:40

up. Some great cases we're going to be talking about in

53:42

the next few weeks. Tell

53:44

them what we're recording on Friday. On

53:47

Friday. We are recording. Oh

53:49

boy. And I'm in charge of

53:51

it. So you guys know. Oh, it's going to

53:54

be an 18 episode like series. There's no way

53:56

we're doing this in an hour and a half

53:58

with our guests. There's just no. And

54:00

we have a great guest lined up. Good luck to

54:02

all involved. All right till next time. Thank

54:04

you so much everyone Thank you

54:07

to our star witnesses who join us every

54:09

week here live Love

54:11

you, Raviya. See you next time All

54:15

right, Raviya here we are 1052

54:19

p.m. On Tuesday night and you and I

54:21

have been going back and forth with the

54:23

information on the Micah Miller case as It

54:25

has broken in real time. Yeah, which if

54:28

you've been on the internet at all You

54:30

most certainly have seen it and we just

54:32

didn't think it was right that we let

54:34

the episode live as is because there are

54:36

Massive updates and we do feel it necessary

54:39

to share that with you all. Yeah, definitely

54:41

I mean we don't we don't it didn't

54:43

make sense to wait a week Yeah,

54:45

when so much in for I mean I am actually

54:48

not just surprised at the substance of the information

54:50

But like what's actually in it? We're gonna talk about

54:52

that But also the fact that so much has actually

54:54

been released to the public. Oh my goodness. It's

54:56

a lot I feel like there's not a single

54:58

person online who has talked about this case who

55:01

I guess hadn't gotten it wrong because we all

55:04

Really? Well, you heard how we feel in

55:06

the episode and I do still

55:08

feel the same in terms

55:10

of her abuse We'll

55:12

get to the facts of what happened,

55:14

you know as I was waiting for

55:16

us to sit and record I was

55:18

a little bit correlating it to the

55:20

Michelle Carter case because You

55:22

stood very firmly in that you think

55:24

that Conrad was driven to die by

55:26

suicide And that is sort

55:28

of what I feel about Micah Miller

55:31

because the fact remains that she was

55:33

emotionally psychologically Financially

55:35

sexually abused by her

55:37

partner as this information that we're

55:40

going to share will show it

55:42

does seem that she did Die

55:44

by suicide. Yeah, so it was

55:46

released today that first of all earlier in

55:48

the day We got report to the coroner had

55:50

ruled the case to be not I mean like

55:52

because he hadn't ruled on the manner of death

55:54

We knew that it was a gunshot wound, but

55:56

we didn't know exactly how it was inflicted right

55:59

you and I texted this morning, I'll just share this

56:01

with our listeners. I shared with you at 8 47 that

56:04

the cause of death was ruled a

56:06

suicide. And I said, I don't believe

56:08

it, but we should make an addendum.

56:11

And you said, I don't believe it

56:13

for a second. Yeah, I said, no

56:15

way. And then you said just because

56:17

it's consistent with a self inflicted wound,

56:19

which is what the article said, doesn't

56:21

mean it was actually self inflicted. Right.

56:24

And I said, I agree exactly

56:26

my thoughts. So that was our

56:28

state of mind this morning. Yeah,

56:30

shortly before 9am. And I'll tell you this,

56:32

the information and Ellen is the one who's

56:34

actually been kind of following it. I have

56:36

not really been checked in online most of the

56:38

day. I've just been busy with stuff. But when

56:40

Ellen sent me the information that I guess now

56:43

has emerged up until like I saw even until

56:45

there was there parts of it, and we'll go

56:47

through it. I was like, it still doesn't mean

56:49

she did it. It still doesn't mean she did

56:51

it. It still didn't so

56:53

let's let's talk about what what that information

56:55

is. Okay, so apparently a 911 call was

56:58

made on the day that Micah died. There was

57:01

a call made to 911, in which a woman

57:03

asked, Are you able to trace my

57:05

cell phone location, because I'm going to take my

57:07

own life then she hung up? Okay, it turned

57:10

out to be like, phone and it was Micah

57:12

speaking. The police did trace where the self

57:14

where that call came from, they ended up

57:16

at that state park they were at Lumber

57:18

River State Park in Orem,

57:21

North Carolina. And the reason she wanted

57:23

to know if her phone could

57:25

be traced was she wanted her family to

57:27

be able to find her body. Yeah. So

57:29

as they were got to the area and

57:31

sort of searching, a man came up to them

57:33

who was like, I guess fishing in the area and said he found this

57:36

bag that had Micah identification in

57:38

it. In addition to that, a

57:40

Black Honda Accord that was registered

57:42

to Micah Miller was identified in

57:44

the parking lot of that very

57:46

same park. As they were searching

57:48

for the woman who called 911,

57:51

they didn't know they were searching for Micah at

57:53

that time. Another 911 call was

57:56

Received from someone who reported a

57:58

body in the. Hark Water

58:00

and that's when law enforcement found

58:03

and identified the victim as might

58:05

die. There was also believe a

58:07

witness who said that they heard

58:09

a woman. Crying and then they

58:11

heard a gunshot per. Act upon

58:13

further investigation. even released Leader in the

58:15

day. No no let me say as

58:18

when I read this information just isolated

58:20

in my head I'm like somebody could

58:22

have made her made that call. Yup

58:24

somebody could made her be crying. I

58:27

still don't believe that Robbie gas shared

58:29

brain. I was like someone is telling

58:31

her to make that call on here.

58:33

Then they got camera footage of her

58:36

at a pawn shop purchasing a gun

58:38

the same day. Yes that same day

58:40

that than case was in the passenger

58:42

seat. Of might as be a

58:44

call So was a box of

58:47

ammunition in the center console them.

58:49

They also found a receipt for

58:51

but I know from that same

58:53

pawn shop and both were. Seats

58:55

were dated for that same day

58:58

in the hand to God that

59:00

was found with my car matched

59:02

the serial number of the gun

59:04

purchased from the pawn shop. Additionally

59:06

her to her move. And Saturday

59:08

seem to have been fairly well

59:10

tracks as he is captured. On Cz

59:13

to for cctv footage like as she's kind of

59:15

making her way to this part. Also on her

59:17

phone they sound as you googled. National

59:19

Parks close to me. Yes, The

59:21

Robison County Sheriff Furnace welcomes said

59:23

this to the media. He said

59:26

this incident has garnered much attention.

59:28

A very methodical investigation was conducted

59:30

by our criminal investigations team and

59:32

crime scene investigation team. In the

59:35

end, we must make decisions based

59:37

on facts and evidence that we

59:39

gathered. While I know it's not

59:41

what many people wanted to hear,

59:44

the evidence is quite clear and

59:46

compelling as and we or sad

59:48

and as everyone that this occurred.

59:51

There are many factors that we have

59:53

reviewed that occurred over an extended period

59:55

of time. They're probably related to the

59:58

reason for this investigation, but India. Sadly

1:00:00

a tragic decision was made by Micah

1:00:02

that ended her life up until the

1:00:05

very end. I was right there with

1:00:07

you. Think that the phone call may

1:00:09

have been coerced? I am devastated that

1:00:11

See was abused and lonely. I don't

1:00:13

want to put emotions on her but

1:00:15

maybe she thought that was going to

1:00:17

be her ultimate and oh we'll even

1:00:20

after for those emotions. We know that

1:00:22

we know that because of the affidavit

1:00:24

her siblings gave with his things are

1:00:26

friend said she had expressed as to

1:00:28

people that I'm afraid for my life.

1:00:30

She express it to the police when

1:00:33

she was being followed in the tires

1:00:35

are things that I'm scared for my

1:00:37

life. I feel like many systems fields

1:00:39

her mean we the mental hospital but

1:00:41

she was put into the mental facilities

1:00:43

who might have been able to protect

1:00:46

her had they may be believed her

1:00:48

if he hadn't kept perpetuating this idea

1:00:50

that she was sick and she wasn't

1:00:52

well I feel like something more should

1:00:54

have been done. I don't know the

1:00:56

legalities behind all of that. If they

1:00:59

could have tapped. Her. Saved her, kept her

1:01:01

safe. I don't know what are you thinking. I

1:01:03

mean all and thinking is that all she wanted

1:01:05

was to get out of this marriage and start

1:01:07

a new life. Yeah, and she did Not. See

1:01:09

a path forward for that. She had told her

1:01:11

sister, i don't think I'll make it to the

1:01:14

divorce. Yeah what does she meant You know that

1:01:16

she would attempt as a pro life or that

1:01:18

her husband would but she was clearly to of

1:01:20

the and we know the man had people following

1:01:22

her he like admit this and a sermon we

1:01:24

play the clip i mean to him the you

1:01:26

know the fact that she saw all she wanted

1:01:28

was to get away from him as he couldn't

1:01:31

get away from him and as the only way

1:01:33

she could get away from him I wonder if

1:01:35

is it wasn't one less active and of defiance

1:01:37

like you're not than are you don't You're not

1:01:39

only your nothing own me. Yes,

1:01:41

I now that's really hard to

1:01:43

say out loud. I was thinking

1:01:45

about how to were of that

1:01:47

Thinking that was sort of her

1:01:49

of Last Power Moves. Yeah, because

1:01:52

she might have felt so powerless.

1:01:54

That was the one thing she

1:01:56

could control Young was how see

1:01:58

last this earth and not let

1:02:00

him have a hands it now

1:02:02

on him when. Yeah, it's heartbreaking.

1:02:04

If anybody is listening to this

1:02:06

and is experiencing any kind of

1:02:08

domestic violence at home, it can

1:02:10

come in so many forms. it

1:02:12

doesn't have to be physical, it

1:02:15

can be emotionally, can be financial,

1:02:17

it can be sexual, or if

1:02:19

you are feeling threatened. or if

1:02:21

you feel like you need help,

1:02:23

please call the National Domestic Violence

1:02:25

Hotline at One Eight Hundred Seventy

1:02:27

Nine Nine Safe. That's One Eight

1:02:29

Hundred. Seventy Nine, Seven Two Three

1:02:31

Three. You can also just tech

1:02:34

start to eight eight seven eight

1:02:36

Eight and I feel through Mike

1:02:38

as videos and what she has

1:02:41

said to people. I feel she

1:02:43

was screaming for help and she

1:02:45

was trapped. So much more has

1:02:47

come out about him. One of

1:02:50

his former girlfriend has come out

1:02:52

that God has sexual abuse allegations

1:02:54

out there. This is not a

1:02:57

good person. I am deeply saddened

1:02:59

to know. That might have felt that

1:03:01

she couldn't stay. As the add that if

1:03:03

you feel like you're struggling with just existing

1:03:05

right now and you need a help to

1:03:08

talk to somebody and you have any her

1:03:10

thoughts of self harm, you can call or

1:03:12

text the number nine, eight eight and somebody

1:03:14

will be there to talk to you. Twenty

1:03:16

four hours, seven days with yeah, your loved

1:03:19

You are important. You are valuable here and

1:03:21

this is not the way I saw this

1:03:23

story laying out by that was very important

1:03:25

to us even at almost midnight before this

1:03:28

episode airs. To make sure that the correct

1:03:30

information. As out there I just

1:03:32

want to honor her life and

1:03:34

I am so deeply sad and

1:03:37

we send our condolences to meters.

1:04:02

Can go. To.

1:04:12

The. Are looking how? Ever

1:04:16

thought. He.

1:04:27

He. I have.

1:04:32

Ah ah. Ah,

1:04:40

Ah, Ah,

1:04:54

Ah, Ah,

1:05:44

Ah, Ah,

1:05:52

And you can't say that. Ah,

1:07:49

Oh.

1:08:33

yeah Let

1:10:19

me ask you a question. Do you have a best friend? How

1:10:22

big would it shock you if somebody told

1:10:24

you that your best friend just killed somebody?

1:10:27

Not a woman, should I make you think? If

1:10:29

someone really lies there, they're shooting at my son,

1:10:31

and they're demanding $500,000. On

1:10:35

September 12, 1995,

1:10:37

12-year-old McKay Everett disappeared from his

1:10:40

home in Conroe, Texas. It

1:10:42

was a crime that shocked

1:10:44

the community because the suspect

1:10:46

was so unlightly, so unexpected.

1:10:49

Former high-ranking police official, he'd run for

1:10:51

sheriff at one point. Law enforcement personnel

1:10:53

were pretty much split down the middle

1:10:56

over whether or not he actually

1:10:58

did this. And to this day,

1:11:01

McKay's mother Paulette still feels that

1:11:03

justice was never truly served. I've

1:11:06

asked if there's so many things

1:11:08

what in the world happens. Ransom
