“Blackness isn’t about exactness, it’s about knowing… So that we can remember.” “Your home is wherever you plant your feet and your feet are imbued with the power of our ancestors…” These are just two out of the multitude of jewels dropped by our next guest Danny Dunson; an art historian, curator, writer and one of the brothers behind the @LegacyBros instagram account (follow it right now). Danny’s passion centers on the art and artists of the Diaspora. In 2020 he initiated “Legacy Brothers Lab” a global arts residency which grants endowments and mentorship to develop budding artists in places like Ghana, Morocco, South Africa, Senegal, Haiti and Brazil. Danny works to center the art and history of the Diaspora on its own, and entirely independent of the ubiquitous Eurocentric construct. We can’t stress this enough, Danny wore us out with his brilliant observations and whip smart humor. He took us on a journey of discovery and failure, rebirth and redemption. We came away stunned and honored to be in his presence. Also, we want him to be our personal interior decorator. Oh and our stylist. This dude is just dope. Tune in. #thedopeshit
