In this maiden podcast episode, Tim Moffatt and Sarah Evans-Alwin talk to University of Sheffield PhD student Gemma Ballard about Korean Cinema, its history and its influence. Gemma talks about the importance of Seoul as the symbolic heart of current Korean film making, as well as the turbulent times that Korean cinema has experienced and charted. Her work looks at Seoul as a postmodern city, and how current Korean auteurs address contemporary as well as historical traumas in this setting.
