Think of it as taking an audit, leveling up, and implementing new standards for yourself. Yes! That sounds soooooo much better.

We all know the push for gym memberships, the new diet plan, and the “new me” Mentality.

This has been ingrained in society during this time of the year. It is the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. I totally understand the idea of this. Except, where is the commitment and follow through?

Let’s think this through logically.

People set New Year’s resolutions as a way to establish personal goals. What is goal setting anyway? It is something to work towards. Why not disrupt the negative patterns now rather than work towards a goal? Why wait? People set goals for the new year. It symbolizes a fresh beginning and provides an opportunity for individuals to reflect on their lives, consider areas for improvement, and set intentions for positive change. Are you yawning yet?

Setting resolutions can serve as a motivating factor to work towards self-improvement, whether it is health-related, relationships, career, or personal development. While not everyone may follow through with their resolutions, the tradition reflects a desire for growth and positive change.

Ok, now that we have the basis of the definition of it. Let’s blow the lid off of it.

The average success rate of a NY Resolution is 8-20%. So basically it is a tradition that doesn’t work. Most people say this is because they are facing challenges along the way….blah blah blah.

Maybe you set too lofty goals. Or maybe you really don’t want it, you just kind of want it. That seems more like it. It becomes a habit. With no follow-through.

My question is always, why wait to create positive change in your life? Tradition and habits usually lead to less follow-through and more excuses. Does this sound familiar?
