How fitting for SCI Awareness Month! We are talking to Dr. Samer Shamout MD, MSc Urology and 2 wheelie awesome peeps with lived experience, Steve Crochetiere and Kasey Aiello. We talk about all things related to the human bladder and how a spinal cord injury can affect its function. We ask all sorts of questions regarding catheterization, UTIs, antibiotics and how to maintain bladder health (if you missed it, check out our last episode #33 where Brittney Neunzig talks about eating for a healthy bladder).

You will get to hear from both Kasey and Steve about what their journey has been like after surviving a sci and living that cathing life. We enjoy being able to talk openly about these subjects that can sometimes be difficult or awkward to talk about. The fact of the matter is, we are all human and our bodies have to get rid of the waste somehow and this usually changes after a SCI. We want to make it acceptable and comfortable to talk about these things so the newly injured people have resources and can hear the truth from those with lived experience, for the able-bodied community to learn and help us raise awareness and for the research community so they can stay connected to what people need researched.
